The Saint: Lida or That Generous Early 1960s Silhouette
Although we often think of the 1960s as the decade of youth, of the model Twiggy, and of the flat-chested pre-adolescent silhouette for women as the look of the decade, the early 1960s was different. Decades have never quite overlaid onto the large shifts in fashion, and the early 1960s looked much like the 1950s with soft shoulders, generous bosom, tight waists, and generous hips. In short, an hourglass.
The silhouette still popular in 1964 was that hourglass look. Jeanne Moody played Lida who was absolutely packed into her metallic, brocade evening dress which manages to have both a low-cut front and a low-cut back. Some kind of foundation garment squeezes in her waistline to emphasize the hourglass and her dress has a long pleated tail which adds even more sway to her hips as she walks. She played the older sister who was being blackmailed while Erica Rogers played her younger sister and you can see two different hairstyles of the era as well. The younger sister wears a short hair cut that was then teased into a bubble shape, kind of a pixie cut on hairspray, while the older sister has lush, longer locks with waves set into them.
The Saint starring Roger Moore ran from 1962 through 1969. It was adapted from the stories of Leslie Charteris and watching it is a great way to see the fashions of the era. He was always beautifully tailored and many of the settings are among wealthy people and the fashions of that class appear accordingly. I can see them on something called MeTV, but there are other places that offer the shows as well.

The Saint: The Man Who Liked Toys (3.8, ITC, 1964)

Teal is#back and this their relationship at its peak; on the surface antagonistic‚ but the free hand Teal gives Simon (including letting him sit in#on witness statements!!) suggest there's a lot more mutual admiration and good natured rivalry than anything. if there's a fault here it's#the ep signposts the villain too early and too clearly‚ but then Dawson does something interesting again by having Simon identify who the#bad guy is (making the issue not who or how but simply proving it). i honestly think this is a rare ep that could have stood to be a little#longer‚ to really draw out that second act hunt for proof and give some of the side characters a little more depth. John Paul was still a#few years off Doomwatch at this point‚ but his mighty hair is as tall as it ever was (@thisbluespirit have we ever discussed JPs hair? i#tend to regard it as a separate entity‚ a solid block that sat on Paul's head and stole focus while he acted)

La passante de la Place des Vosges/ The Passerby of the Place des Vosges: in praise of Caitríona Balfe
I have recently discussed, in as much detail as possible without becoming completely boring, S's memoir Waypoints. It is, no doubt, an interesting strategic step, aiming to buy much needed time and respite from unwanted fan attention.
But if there is a memoir I would probably read in a very different, almost sentimental way, that would be hers, not his.
We have an enticing idea of the way she writes, with this lesser known essay published by the totemic NYT just a day shy of her birthday, in 2017: The First Time I Left Home (and Fell in Love), which you can read online right here - https://shorturl.at/uTX12. It is a short, dense piece with a deeply personal, even sentimental, view of Paris in autumn and spring. Something very unusual for the feisty, secretive, almost paranoid C we all know and love (admit it, you do: fair's fair). It immediately grabbed both my attention and highlighter.
Writing about Paris, especially from an Anglo-Saxon/American perspective, is a very tricky affair. So much has been said and done, from Janet Flanner's priceless Letters from Paris and Paris Journal, to Anais Nin, to Edmund White, to Hemingway, to Orwell - just to name the ones that immediately come to mind. In this particular case, we'd be dealing with a nice PR fine tuning detail, with a relatively short lifespan, aiming perhaps to reach a more sophisticated demographic than Twitter banter or a three minutes long Q&A about the current season's antics. But a wonderful detail, nevertheless.
The year is 1998. A young 19-year old Irish model wannabe just landed in the chaotic brouhaha of Roissy Airport and the first contact is brutal, language being a considerable barrier. But before that, we are treated to a masterful bistrot snapshot, with a cheeky, self-deprecating sense of humor. I mean how perfect is this?
Quite a contrast to the dream version back home:
Touché. All the moody young Frenchmen are named Pierre, C. All. Of. Them. As for watching far too many French films, there's always been something very Nouvelle Vague about you, Jeanne Moreau and Jules et Jim & all that, and I have to say this is what I found immediately endearing. I am not talking about Claire Fraser: it is you, emphatically you. The kind of impeccably dressed woman one can find pretending to read Le Monde at Le Café de Flore's terrace in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The kind of self-evident, celestial creature whose high heels are never heard on any pavement (what is your secret?). Late Jane Birkin didn't even come close, C., mark me. However, red lipstick stains look way better on the rim of a nervously half drunk cup of noisette coffee: but then, that is me.
It was not at all like that, of course, but then something happened just across the street from the Saint-Eustache church, at Quigley's Point, a long gone Irish pub I vaguely remember. Circa 1998, our own boisterous squad used to play darts and get plastered on cheap draft beer and that undignified, syrupy manzana Basque liqueur (idiots, I am telling you, but it was very cheap) at The Bombardier, on the Place du Panthéon, just across the Seine:
Thick brogue, a quick laugh, kind eyes and blonde hair. An interesting combo, for sure. No further comment except well, this is very personal, isn't it? You've said it yourself: sometimes (fun fact: always) the really important people have nothing to do with fantasies. But we know, C, we know.
And then, suddenly, it all falls into place: Stendhal would talk about a crystallization moment. It is that split-second when everything becomes very clear. A pact of sorts occurs and all barriers are lifted. For C, it happened in one of the perfect places of this planet, spare perhaps the Piazza del Campo, in Siena:
No doubt, by tomorrow evening at the latest, I will be crucified by Mordor, but this made me think of that - different setting and context, same type of seminal moment. Draw your own conclusions:

Important things happen, too, Place du Panthéon and this moved me to bits, even if this was not a happy ending. So shamelessly glad it wasn't, by the way:
For (and forgive me for ineptly tinkering with your words) "It’s true, you never forget your first love". And for that man on that random pavement in LA, that will always be you, passerby of the Place des Vosges. The wonder you are, despite anything else: it is perfectly irrelevant.

Five red faces, and five noses bleeding. Jaune couldn’t help, but watch as his friends lost their minds. Jaune, couldn’t help, but sigh as he did it again.

Guests graced the #DGAltaModa event in Alberobello, Puglia, in head-to-toe #DolceGabbana looks:
Kim Kardashian wore a plum taffeta cape draped over a #DGDNA lingerie bodysuit, finished with a whote gold necklace and "Rubellite" tourmaline and diamond chandelier earrings.
At the special dinner event, Kim wore a silhouette dress featuring a corset with exposed gold boning. A floor length veil with encrusted lace edges completed the look, along with a “Sicilia” white and yellow gold pendant necklace and a flower ring showcasing an exceptional untreated ruby.

Anitta wore a golden embroidered lace minidress with embroidered boots, black tulle gloves, and a tulle and lace veil. She accessorized her look with a “tatting” set with late 19th-century miniatures, diamonds and pearls and a ring in yellow and white gold with diamonds.
Alessandra Ambrosio wore a tulle sheer gown with exposed gold boning and a fully embroidered gold cape completed with tulle gloves.
Kerry Washington wore a custom gown embroidered with Swarovski crystals paired with a corset belt, accessorized with a yellow and white gold set.
Erling Haaland wore a full look in light blue silk crepe de chine composed by a double-breasted oversized jacket, V-neck t-shirt, and double pleated trousers. He styled the look with a #DGlogo mule and a gold cross pendant.

Ellis and Moody are both very good too but the real#fault in this episode perhaps lies in its inexplicably abrupt ending (made even stranger bc this one appears to run a minute or so shorter#than many others). the main plot is exposed but a lot of strands are left dangling and a lot of side characters (Kanner and Ellis among#them) have their stories unresolved. perhaps it's a reflection of the source material or simply a favouring of concise and contained story#telling‚ but for once I'd be quite happy with a little coda scene which explained just how events panned out for the supporting players

Hey actually since I was just giving someone this tip in their post,
Watch out for bond level grinding requirements, because some servants require a crapton of bond EXP to get to bond level 5 compared to others!
The game does a thing where how many bond points a servant needs varies depending on the servant’s personality, which is a fun detail, but also a pain to grind out. Friendlier servants like Europa, Achilles, and Sanzang take around 10,000-15,000 to get to max bond, average friendliness servants like Jeanne, Artoria, and Enkidu take around 27,500, and moody or closed-off servants like Arjuna, Waver, or Jack take 50,000 bond points to get to bond level 5. Given that bond level 5 is required to make your freebie 5-star from the current event permanent, watch out for this! If your free Blorbo is in the 27,500+ categories, you’re gonna be in the hole for a while.

So for this I intended that swords and wands would represent getting into a relationship quickly and cups/pentacles would be taking a longer time to get into a relationship with someone. I think he definitely tends to get into relationships very quick. When he sees someone he likes he doesn’t waste time waiting for them to approach him or try beating around the bush. I asked again just to make sure and yeahhh lol he really does not care for long term relationships. I’m seeing he likes someone who can handle anything really. Someone who can handle a hectic lifestyle because he’s literally everywhere. Since his career is insane he looks for someone who can handle that kind of chaos and still be calm about it. Very intuitive too. Maybe someone important too or just a strong personality because there’s a lot of major arcana. This isn’t some easy person this person can handle their own weight and is strong on their own.
