I keep getting irritated about the Choices marvel’s making in recent years, but then I remember I haven’t watched any of the movies since infinity war and I’m not going to and I don’t care at all.

OK I JUST WANNA SAY HOW IN LOVE I AM WITH YOUR WRITING LIKE IT GENUINELY MAKES ME FEEL EMOTIONS I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD FEEL AND MY HEART FEELS SO FULL AND LIKE ITS GONNA BURST OUT OF MY CHEST AND IM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH YOUR WRITING STYLE AND THE WAY YOU DESCRIBE THE CHARACTERS WITH SO MUCH DETAIL AND HOW YOURE SO REALISTIC WITH THEIR EMOTIONS AND HOW THAT AFFECTS THEM. IM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH THE SLOWBURN AND EVERY CHAPTER MAKES ME WANNA DANCE AROUND OR CURL UP IN MY BED AND CRY MYSELF TO SLEEP. I CANT EVEN FIND THE WORDS TO EXPLAIN HOW IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I FEEL NOSTALGIC EVEN THOUGH NONE OF THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED TO ME AND OMG ALL THE LITTLE DETAILS YOU ADD LIKE THE MUSCLE THAT TWITCHES IN HIS CHEEK AND THE LITTLE SCAR ON HIS JAW AND THE WAY YOU DESCRIBE LOVE AND I LOVE YOU. READING THIS FIC MAKE ME LOVE YOU LIKE IM SO DEADASS I CANT EVEN LIE ABOUT IT LIKE I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU. But yeah please enjoy my burst of emotions I genuinely do not know what to feel and that means you’re doing something right👍 feel free to ignore all the bs I just wrote all you need to get from that is that I love you and you’re writing style. I would absolutely love to get some tips from you for writing if that’s possible I’ve always wanted to make a little fanfic just for myself but every time I start writing it just sounds like a two year old found their moms computer💀💀💀 anyways I love you❤️❤️❤️
AHHHH
THANK YOU!! All of the things you're complimenting are things that I genuinely try really hard to do, so it's so so nice to hear that it's coming across well. And the little details too! I'm often so worried that it's not detailled enough, yk--like, there isn't enough 'background' information about them both, and so I wouldn't be able to make the characters feel as 'real' as they should be.
I'm also glad that you like the slowburn, becasue baby so do I and we're in for a long one! Lolol. But this fic has turned strangely into a character study of them both, which wasn't really intended; but writing this has somehow given me an insight into both of their characters, more helpfully Gojo's. Although I always say that I feel IW Gojo is quite significantly different to jjk canon Gojo--mainly because canon Gojo is lonely lonely lonely, and IW has his 'person'--but I think I still try to work at it, you know? So yeah. Nice nice nice!!
Writing tips—I’ve given some in this reply here but I’m going to do a whole writing advice post in more detail directly after this one (here it is, since I’ve had the request a few times now, counting both ao3 and tumblr, lol. Most are just tips I’ve stolen from other people across the years that I’ve found actually work, over all the billions of other wank writing advice things you get. But, honestly, the only piece of advice you ever really need is JUST WRITE!!! PRACTISE!!! YOU WILL GET BETTER, I PROMISE!!!
Everyone's sounds a bit rubbish when they get started (dear lord, mine did), but if you keep on writing and keep on enjoying it I promise you will get better. It's very flattering that you asked, though, and I'll post something proper too.
Thank you for the lovely words (and the declaration of love--very flattering) <3

I am struggling to have a Thought, here, but -
I was rereading my fic, The Air Between Two Stars, in which Thor basically brings Loki back to life; it diverges from canon after IW bc Endgame hadn't come out yet when I wrote it.
So I came across these lines (edited for conciseness):
“How?” Loki asks ... "How did you bring me back?” "Magic," says Thor, simply. [...] There are ancient resurrection spells that Loki has knowledge of, dark magic performed at great risk to the mage. It is possible. It is also extremely dangerous. He never would have imagined Thor would consider him worth such trouble. Certainly, after fooling Thor twice, Loki owed it to him to die for real so that Thor’s mourning would not be in vain.
I stopped bc that last line sort of jumped at me - after fooling Thor twice, Loki owed it to him to die for real. And it just struck me, like, I wonder how many people (if any) read that line and felt indignant and mentally yelled at me bc Loki never really faked his death, intentionally.
And it's like, yes, I, Charlotte, the writer, know that Loki didn't set out to intentionally fool Thor by faking his death. But my being cognizant of that on a meta level doesn't mean Loki can't feel like he's fooled Thor, in the story, and that all of Thor's mourning him has been in vain.
It just seems like - especially in the wake of the series - that wiggly space between what the author knows and what the character feels has been lost? Like, I'm not saying the narrative (not just in the series but over the span of the entire MCU) hasn't been unfair to Loki in a lot of ways, including regarding his "faked" deaths, but I also feel like a lot of wank stems from people wanting the narrative to be so "fair" that it hinders how Loki can function as a character in the story being told.
Not sure if that makes sense or not, but like - I guess what I'm saying is that this is yet another area where there's just a whole lotta gray in an increasingly black-and-white definition of "analysis." And it just makes me feel some kinda way, I guess.

so like, I'm borrowing someone's Disney+ account because I don't want to pay Disney money, I'm on a hard boycott (and my friend was very generous to let me watch the Loki show). and now I'm like "hey now you can watch Infinity War and Endgame with subtitles!!!" (because I didn't understand at least 45% of what anyone was saying in that movie, yay for ADHD.)
But whenever I try to go click play, my body literally won't let me push the button. Like I just can't. I lean forward to press the spacebar, and then... I just can't. And I have to put my hand down. I've tried like 4 times today, and the last time I tried I actually got physically ill and nauseous.
And I'm just saying, this has never happened to me in my entire life lmao. Like yeah I'll watch something, get bored 10 seconds in, and watch something else. But I've never been physically unable to do something I'm deliberately trying to do. So, in case anyone forgot how I feel, fuck you Russos :)

I think the whole Strange using the timestone for mutilpe bad endings and only one good, is just excuse the film uses the justify the plotehole in IW. I think it just an example of lazy and bad writing.
i don’t think i have quite as negative an opinion as you, anon, but i do get what you mean. IW was pretty well-put-together overall but the whole “there’s only one good ending and i have to do something that seems really stupid and allows the villain to win, but don’t worry this is probably necessary for the tiny chance of the heroes eventually winning” thing was just... well, anyway.
i don’t think the writing for the movie was terrible, but it didn’t impress me a lot either. idk. i probably won’t rewatch IW until close to A4

I only have one major complaint about Infinity War, and it’s about Rhodey’s characterization.
I don’t understand why they suddenly made him badmouth the Accords. Is it because he’s paralyzed? The entire thing seems contradictory from his stance at the end of Civil War (when he most likely would have been at his angriest).
And he embraced Steve like a brother. I love Steve, but if someone had beaten my best friend and left them for dead in a Siberian bunker, I wouldn’t be happy to see them. Even two years on.

Another applicant to the former St0ny shipper support group here!
I can no longer read any reference to T0ny’s “Aunt Peggy” without having a visceral negative reaction. So many stories where Peggy’s (completely non-canon) relationship with T0ny is written as more important and meaningful than hers with Steve, where T0ny’s feelings about Peggy’s death are more important that Steve’s, where Peggy comes in to give the overprotective shovel talk, or particularly egregious, where Peggy reams Steve out for hurting poor baby T0ny’s feelings.
Some St0ny shippers seem obsessed with making T0ny the center of every story and every character’s thoughts and feelings Winter1ron is another example of this, and I’m sure if Sam were white we’d see a bunch of Ironfalcon stories too.
Omg, how many of us are there?!
But oof, that was one of the most eye-roll worthy, widely accepted headcanons I can remember, lol.It shifts the focus from Steve and Peggy to T0ny (and Peggy), making it sound as if the latter had a stronger, better bond than Steve and Peggy. Or that Peggy would favor T0ny over Steve.
Also, don’t get me started on how this conveniently relegates a woman to a caregiving, non-sexual position just to make sure they don’t get in the way of the main ship 🥱. Like, if you focus on Steve and Peggy, you’d have to face the fact that Peggy is seen like a desirable person, in every way. By focusing on T0ny and Peggy, she becomes a motherly figure, someone who’s there to comfort poor, neglected baby T0ny (who then Steve sees with new eyes).

Let’s set aside our differences for a moment and think about the things we have in common.
Side note: This meme doesn’t apply to the fans who use harassment, name calling, doxxing, mean anons, and threats in their discourse. Because I really don’t care for that shit on my dashboard and they don’t deserve my shitty memes.

Marvel: Rhodey might be changing his mind about the accords. Tensions with his friends including Tony
Me: If you would have BOTHERED to actually READ the very characterization you gave him, you would know this is in no way okay. Rhodey’s injury doesn’t suddenly mean he doesn’t believe in government anymore. He himself said at the end of CACW that what they had done was right because guess what IT WAS. He, a MILITARY MAN, who has ALWAYS had a chain of command, would NEVER be okay with there being no procedure. He who knows what military might is knows you can’t just barge in whenever the fuck you want because whenever people do that, innocents die. He would NEVER change his view just like that regardless of what threat they face because a threat doesn’t change the fact that the system needed to change. Furthermore his view had NOTHING to do with Tony, so why even are we talking about tensions with his friend when literally Rhodey has his own mind and has never been afraid of being outspoken about what he believes???
Also fuck outta here with your tensions. Rhodey has been the most supportive friend Tony has ever had and he would never abandon his friend so if marvel is planning some emotional bullshit to keep them apart they can go fuck themselves because that is not only out of character it is an insult to their friendship.

Why does everyone want a responsible parent to fix the multiverse so much?
Like, before, everyone was like omg Stephen's going to have an anuerysm while he tries to fix what Wanda and "Loki" fucked up, and then the Spiderman trailer revealed that, no, Stephen is right there fucking things up right along with them, so now it's like okay well Loki didn't technically fuck anything up so he can be the responsible parent, or he can share the role with Wong, who told Stephen not to do the spell, and like -
Why must anyone take responsibility? Why should anyone be put in the role of Person Who Is 500% Done With These Kids and Their Magical Shenanigans and I Guess I'll Fix It, But I'm Gonna Complain About it the Whole Time?
Like is this a trope we really need, here? Is this a thing? Bc in my humble opinion, they are all disaster children (even Loki, though admittedly I consider him far more competent than the others, all evidence to the contrary aside) and it's much more entertaining to me to have them all be like, We Don't Know How to Fix This But Hijinks Shall Ensue While We Try (And Also We'll Try Not To Kill Each Other I Guess, But If I Throw This Person Through That Wall Over There They Probably Won't Die So -) -
- like, I think that's a role that all of our magical friends could and should play and makes the dynamics so much more interesting than just one person grouchy about having to clean up someone else's massive mess.
#just tossing that out there. like i was briefly vindicated when it was revealed stephen is in fact *not* the irritated magical dad#but then all the posts became 'oh so loki is the responsible one'#and now i'm seeing a lot of 'wong is the only one with two brain cells' posts like okay#the 'irritated parent' trope is funny if done well but it has to make sense for the character dynamics you can't just#shove whoever is the least stupid into that role and expect it to carry any real weight#and it's kinda oversimplifying each character they try to put in that role bc it's like#look whether it's strange or loki or wong or whomever - they are ALL competent and intelligent and they are ALL capable#but they are also ALL very flawed like this massive fuckup was a GROUP EFFORT and it should be treated as such smh#also not to be wanky but i find it hilarious that the nwh trailer has spawned 'strange is ooc' discourse#over whether or not casting his great fuckup spell was something he'd actually do or not#bc the same people who are like 'he's not ooc he's a magic newbie! he's learning! akshually iw/eg made him ooc'#are also the people who dismissed the loki vs strange in ragnarok wank with arguments like 'stop saying strange has only practiced magic#for a year like clearly he is on a Level and has the time stone/is sorceror supreme/etc and it totally makes sense' like#you can't have it both ways but that's none of my business really i just think it's funny#standom frank#i have no idea how to tag this

Did the Russos just say that Loki was getting old??
Tony Stark has been there three years before Loki, he’s been in all his movies and all Avengers movies and a Cap movie and Spider man movie - yet the Russos gave him a privileged spot and spared his life to great cost for the hoeroes.
I don’t mean to hate on Tony, I’m just saying that their argument doesn’t hold taking into account their own choices. They simply didn’t want Loki around, and wanted place for all their Thanos.

Someone asked me the other day about IW and I said Josh Brolin’s Thanos was boring.  They asked why because everyone was talking about how complex and interesting he was.  And I’m just over here shrugging, like a Man killing a Woman because he ‘loves her’ isn’t that deep or interesting to me.
