Tulpa Tip #7

You know how sometimes you throw a party and the people you invite invite their friends too? Or sometimes, people hear about the party on their own and invite themselves?

This chapter deals with two distinct scenarios: tulpas invited by other tulpas, and headmates that form on their own after you've created a tulpa.

Imagine your head is the party and your tulpa is the invited guest. Then, your tulpa misses somebody and starts either trying to invite them by themself or begging you to do it nonstop until you do. *Cough cough Rudolph cough cough*

Fortunately, when this happened in our case it was a pretty easy transition for us to make and it went well, but that's not always the case. System changes can be distressing for everyone involved and that's one of the many reasons you should never make a tulpa lightly. It's like having a kid. Be sure you want one before you make one because they don't just go away. Sometimes, it may be necessary to refuse. If your tulpa is asking for a person who would negatively impact them or you, it's very important to calmly and firmly tell them no and explain why. There is no guarantee this will go well, but it is important to try.

Another thing that we've experienced in the near-decade since Rudolph formed: sometimes people just appear on their own. Our system has changed many times. New tulpas have been formed, tulpas have started going by new names, and while we can't trace back to the exact moment of everyone's forming, most of us can trace a chain of events that led to our existence in the system. This is true for the ones we made on purpose, and for the ones we didn't.

Some of our headmates have formed with no planning or aforethought. All three have formed in times of great stress and turmoil. They are quoigenic because nobody has any idea where they came from. This can happen in any system, including a tulpa system apparently. We still call ourselves a tulpa system even though we're technically mixed origin, because out of 16 of us, 12 are tulpas. The rest? Uhhhhhhhh, idk, I just work here.

So, what do you do when this happens? All we can really do is roll with it. We've been very lucky so far and not had any major problems, but that isn't to say there haven't been bumps in the road.

For example, one of our oldest headmates, who formed in about 2017, is a fictive from a video game. He is an antagonist. One of our newest headmates, who formed on her own, is a protagonist from that series and she HATED him at first. In fact, she went around trying to "warn" the rest of us against him. Obviously, it didn't work. I mean, he's been here for about seven years and his main job is making the body brush its teeth and go to bed on time. We trust him. But she didn't. In her case, she just needed time to get used to things. They needed to talk things through. It's working out now between them.

TLDR: Communication is key. If your tulpa starts to want other people around, talk it out. If you get a new headmate and nobody knows where they came from, talk to them. If two headmates are having conflict, make sure everyone involved understands why and will do what's right for themself and the system.

Obviously our advice isn't one-size fits all! Don't make a tulpa if you're not sure you want one.

This might be a bit of a personal question, so feel free to ignore it. I ask because its relivant to my expereince.

I know Sophie runs this blog, and I assume Sophie was the first created headmate? Since then, have all the joining members of yall's system been created or have any of you expereinces spontaneous existence with no known outside force causing it?

Almond: We've gotten a few that seemed like they tried to form, and might have stuck around if we let them and chatted with them. Well, I say "we" but I don't remember being conscious during those times.

Tulpamancers call these headmates "walk-ins". (Not to be confused with how other plurals call spirits that come from the outside "walk-ins.")

Anyway, our system origins stand as this:

Ghost is the original.

Sophie was created a couple years ago as a writing exercise that later developed more after they learned imaginary friends could become more vivid and real with practice.

Abby and myself were made a few months after that when Ghost wrote a story about a girl and her tulpa, and Sophie wanted to hang out with the characters from that story. Sophie didn't mean for either of us becoming self-aware and thought she could keep us as NPCs. But I think she was a little lonely being the only other headmate besides Ghost.

Tasha came from a dream. Ghost was asleep, was lucid dreaming, talked to a dream character, and then decided to see if he could pull the dream character into reality and have HER wake up.

Eria actually existed before Sophie. But we don't know if she was vocal. Ghost tried to make a spiritual thoughtform when he was a teenager, but never believed it worked. She came back a while ago, but didn't want people to know about her until recently.

Beatrix is our newest headmate and has only been with us about a week. Sophie wanted to apply her Inhabitant theories and talk to a plushie, and got a response almost instantly. (Beatrix's vessel, which she doesn't like calling a vessel, is not the strawbunny I posted. That's a completely unrelated stuffed toy.)

I'm realizing all of us were science experiments in different ways.

HEYYYYYY So since we're trying to be More Ourselves!! I think its about time we put an Official Post together so you can maybe get to know to me and my plurality!

Lets introduce ourselves. Our system's general name is Sienna its easy that way. This blog is run by me, Sienna Marie (they/she/doe). I'm usually the one of us in control of this shitshow, and am in a fun little relationship with my headmate Kiera.

Speaking of, Kiera (She/her/they *if you know her*) will be picking @kiera-the-elk back up again soon! More often than not Kiera and I will usually both be around at the same time later at night when its harder for only one of us to keep this treehouse in order.

Our newest friend, and the third most likely to see in general, is named Aeris (he/she/they/it) and is a little deerthing made of slime. :3 Its gender is really dependent on how his day is and what she feels fits. They want to make a tumblr, and might soon! (Posts on this blog by Aeris will be tagged #slimewords)

@tex-as-toast will be being picked up again soon probably by Tex (He/they). not much to say about Tex that theyd let me talk about. Ill leave that to him on his blog.

We're All Fractal

Hi! This is just a post introducing us as a system and all our members!

The System

Collectively, we are the Fractal system. The system can be referred to with it/its pronouns (because it's not a person, it's a system) or they/them (that is, plural, as opposed to singular gender neutral, because its made of multiple people).

There are a couple things that are true of us collectively/our body: we are white, 26 years old, transfeminine (on HRT since August 2021), autistic, and speak English, Spanish and toki pona.

There are a couple things that are true of us in general but can change depending on who is in front: we are usually nonbinary (fem of center in identity, masc of center in presentation), fine with singular they pronouns, communist (specifically ML-MZT), and interested in music, Marvel comics (especially Spider-Man), and linguistics.

The Members

The Fractal System has seven (known/named) members. Here they are! As for terminology, we tend to use "alter" and "headmate" pretty interchangeably.

Note: If we use a picture from an anime or something to represent someone just know that we've definitely not seen that anime/played that game or whatever and its just based on physical resemblance/vibes.

1.Ashlyn Jean Rose Fractal (Ash) [they/them or she/her] Ash is in the front most often. They are a nonbinary, transfeminine lesbian. Their gender identity/presentation fluctuates often but averages out at very androgynous/neutral. They're most similar to what we were like immediately before the system formed, and along with Austin, they have the most physical resemblance to our body. They're in a relationship with another system member, Beck.

2. Rebecca Ann Fractal (Beck) [she/her or ze/hir] Beck is the oldest system member! She's existed since 2018 or so. She is a butch trans lesbian and she's dating Ash.

3. Jason Augustin Fractal (Austin/"Damien") [he/him] Austin is a bisexual cis guy. He's a lot like we would have been if we never transitioned.

So I'm home now for the first time in a week. New trauma. New headmates. Same room. I learned a lot about myself, including how while healing from my trauma I have become great with kids (also shoutout to my Little for being patient as ive been learning how to be better with that) I've had old things brought back up, old memories, old feelings, old fears. Its weird to be back. I've lived here for years and it's weird to be back. Some of us dont even know this place. Some of us only just remember moving in. Some of us have been longing to be back. Me? I dont know. I think I'm just tired. I've been through so much change that traveling for a week turned into my newest normal. And now its gone. And I dont know if I'll ever get it again. Because I have new trauma. New disfunction in the family. And I'm still trapped. I'm home for the first time in a week, and I never left. I never left the house I was born in. I never left the house I grew up in. I never left the three or four others. Because how can you leave a home when it looks like a house, and it feels like a house, and its made of what houses are made of, nothing more, sometimes less. When theres so many of you, and you loosely connect yourself by strings, trying to find out what it all means, and you realize that it means nothing. You have nothing. And there is nothing. But the strings are here now, and I hate looking at them, but thats the only something I have. I couldnt take the strings down if I wanted, they would just slither back up the walls. But they arent the walls of a home, not the walls of a house, the walls arent even real. The strings arent real. Its just us and our imagination. But at least I'm home...?

I guess we're gonna have to really take the time to get to know ourselves better again. all of ourselves. Being plural sometimes can mean parts come and go but sometimes those parts take important things when they go. I think we really need to search this treehouse and find pieces we know are missing. they have been for too long and none of us could or wanted to acknowledge the gaping holes where rooms used to be. where personalities and people used to be. those people always leave things that they had that were important to us as a system. to us as a Whole. keys. bits of information. tiny fragments of hope, wonder, awe, curiosity,... goals.... dreams.... our sense of who we are and what we want to do and be.

But things have changed. Finally we've acknowledged that things *really are this bad.* and maybe searching for pieces means losing another Person in the treehouse, but it might mean gaining back who we were. who we *are.* and most importantly I think of all... I think We might be able to decide who we want to be.

so yeah. we'll make this next bit its own post too, but...
