IVE BEEN MEANING TO DO SOME CONTENT OF THIS FOR A WHILE HEHEHE THANK U….. i’ve been collecting sketches for this for a while so it’s gonna be a long one

emery loves their aunties and uncle and rapunzel and her partners all spoil them to DEATH its so fucking cute

they’re very into botanical and herbal sciences, so she does a lot more hands-on and in the moment studies than varian and hugo, who usually stay cooped up in their lab most of the day. rapunzel especially loves going out with her on hikes or nature walks whenever her dads are busy, and they do field journals and stuff…. sometimes others will join them on their little trips but for the most part it’s just something the two of them do together. they garden a lot too, obviously, and raps listens to her infodump for hours on end

em also absolutely ADORES her aunt cassie, as she has dubbed her (it definitely got varian a few death glares at first, but he swears up and down he didn’t teach her anything). she loves hearing all the stories about her adventures and is especially fascinated by her cartography. cass also loves to collect weird things, like feathers, funny looking rocks or crystals, animal/fish bones, reptile skins or wings of insects, various things from deceased creatures she’s come across on her travels. emery finds this stuff incredibly cool, since they love animals

whenever cassandra travels out of corona for a bit she brings home lots of flowers and herbs and things for them to study, along with plenty of pretty trinkets and baubles for both them and the twins <3

that’s jusr like one of her love languages she’s like a crow. just gives people shiny rocks and sticks she found, and sometimes jewels/little hairclips/rings/generally very fancy things she definitely stole. sometimes nobody knows what to do with them but they keep them because they love her

eugene is absolutely the fun uncle but like, only when yong’s not around bc he easily solos eugene any day. no hard feelings it just is what it is

but yeah eugene always does the best storytime voices, especially with the flynn rider books bc hes been doin this for YEARS hes got DECADES of experience bro. sometimes the kids encourage him to act out the scenes in which he tries his best but fails miserably while lamenting about his old man bones

rapunzel and cassandra both laugh at him and sometimes will try to pick up where he left off

and, speaking of flynn, with another kid in the castle eugene finally gets another chance to play his favorite game: how long can i have this child convinced that i am the REAL flynn rider in the flesh

the answer is quite a while and it will eventually lead a very pissed off alchemist to storm into your room ready to beat the shit out of you

eugene definitely helps them get away with shit especially considering he’s trying to get revenge on the years varian and hugo spent being menaces to the twins. it is actually CRUCIAL that hugo and varian stay childless for a good 5-7 years after the twins are born because they get that long to be Goofy Ass Uncles and nothing more

no bc theyd literally be the worst most irresponsible mfs imaginable bc they’re both fucking around the whole time trying to impress the kids but they start getting rlly overly competitive about who they like more and fighting about it while the twins are just along for the ride

so. they DO still end up being the favorite uncles just. not for the reasons they think

they’d be like, showing the kids all sorts of projects they have around the lab but theyre just so much more hyperfocused on one upping each other- varian would do tons of interactive experiments so they can get involved and be hands on with everything. it’s just simple stuff obviously, baby science

but hugo on the other hand is more keen to giving them eye candy. fancy machines with cool lights and noises and the like. he does this with kids in town already, they always know him by name and like to play with olivia so he knows how to get the attention of children, but varian thinks it’s cheating so they get into a really stupid argument about it

varian: HAHAHA hugh you’re KIDDING right. that’s nothing they dont even know what’s going on its just a big machine that makes fancy lights and noises

hugo: ??? ok but that’s all you really need isn’t it?? it’s not like kids are all that hard to impress. plus you cant get on my case when yours is just some vial that changes color. you can at LEAST give them something cooler than that

varian: ??? HUGO I CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH THEYRE LIKE FOUR😭 at least MINE is educational. it teaches them about alchemy while helping them develop critical thinking and motor skills

hugo: oh my gods var it’s not that deep😑 like work smarter not harder you know what i mean?? it’s not like they’re our kids we don’t have to worry about that stuff

varian: IT’S NOT EVEN ABOUT THAT THOUGH it’s about captivation and keeping their attention. kids have really short attention spans, fancy gadgets may look cool but they’ll get boring in like five seconds. if you get them involved with the process and allow them to understand the craft they’ll be WAY more interested and-

varian goes into a rant before hugo cuts him off being all “ok fine well if you’re so confident lets ask what THEY think” and varians like “FINE” and so hugo turns around in a huff and realizes both the toddlers are Gone.

and he’s just “,,,,,hey um. hey var. love….where did the twins go” and varian whips his head around like “YOU FUCKING LOST THEM????”

so obviously they both freak the fuck out and are scouring the entire lab making sure they arent off drinking some dangerous chemicals or some shit but like, both of them are smart as fuck so it turns out they just walked off in the middle of their argument and went to go steal sweets from the kitchen. cass, raps, and eugene all chew them out for it later. they get more responsible when emery comes along but like….yk not that much AUDJSJDHDSNS

on the topic of stupid uncles, i should mention that though they love all of them dearly…lance is kind of the favorite like 90% of the time

cuz see eugene along with hugo still continue to be a bit overprotective and paranoid with the kids at times. varian is usually very laid back but when emery hits her teen years he starts to worry a lot more, while hugo mellows out considering that’s where vars own life went downhill LMAO. if there’s anyone who will indulge them and let them get away with ANYTHING it’s lance.

there’s such a blatant and vast difference between your first time parents who are always overthinking everything and worrying about whether they’re good parents or not and your cool, unmarried uncle who already adopted and raised two teenage kids in his 20s, is in the prime of his life and doesn’t technically have to take responsibility for you at all

granted though, the twins have had everyone wrapped around their little fingers since their birth

immediately after the twins were born, everyone in the castle (and even those who weren’t) all collectively pitched in to help as much as they possibly could. especially considering rapunzel struggled a lot mentally in the first few months of her kids’ life, the whole family was very determined to make the time as stress-free as their abilities would allow

one thing they found out quickly was that the twins absolutely adored varian. which obviously confused the alchemist and left him feeling quite helpless considering 1. kids hardly ever liked him (he usually got bullied by them) and 2. because of this he. didn’t really know what to do with kids. ryder once fell asleep in his arms and he lowkey panicked bc he had NO idea what he was supposed to do

when the anxious new parents were finally able to let people be alone with the babies, varian ended up being a pretty regular sitter. to the point where he would have little baby slings in case he needed to hold them while he was working on small projects or something. people would even frequently assume they were his and he eventually got tired of explaining they were actually his niblings so he just let people think whatever

before theyre born hugo jokes around like “lmaooo i dont even like kids” but he’s lying thru his fucking TEETH. hed die for them.

also alina thinks hugo is SO fucking cool (obviously considering he cut her hair based off of his) but also em admires hugo more than either of the twins could ever possibly comprehend. i havent drawn it enough since most of what i’ve drawn of them is them bullying each other but thats just their love language of course emery picked up on it. past the age of like 10 emery would rather die than admit how much she looks up to her father but hugo Knows <3

its not to say em doesnt admire varian, because she loves both her dads equally!!! but because hugo also came from an orphaned past being with him made emery feel a lot more safe and understood during her first few years at the castle. hugo knew what it was like to suddenly go from having nothing to having Everything and he knew it could be really stressful, especially for a little kid….having someone who understood that was really comforting to emery.

because of this though hugo tended to be the paranoid mother hen type, especially compared to varian who was a LOT more laid back and wanted to give them the freedom to trust their own judgement and make mistakes. it was tough to balance these styles at first but emery genuinely loved them both, even if hugo’s fussiness was a bit annoying sometimes

in fact the reason emery dubbed hugo “mama” in the first few months was not because they could sense his massive amounts of Gender (well like, partially, but it was about a month or so after that before the ‘are you a boy or a girl?’ question finally came up), but instead because hugo’s constant doting on her reminded them of their birth mother

varian and hugo dont know much about emery’s birth family or what happened to them, considering she doesn’t say much in her younger years and eventually forgets most of what she didn’t; but she seems to have cared a lot about her birth mother, and frequently still misses her presence.

whenever those waves of emotion are too much for her to bear, hugo is there to comfort her- and he assures her that despite never even meeting them, he still misses his birth family, too, but that it will get easier, and no matter what, she’ll always have people who love and support her

anyways thats all i have rn *opens my head and puts my brain back in it like the little frankenstien dude from nightmare before christmas* idk when ill have more content of them but the next time i do it’ll probably be that drawing with rapunzel kissing both her partners on the lips and both of them being so romantically in love with her /hj

I'm nosy and I also love enabling people to rant, so tell us the reasons why you think spideychelle and irondad hate Peter (I kinda know with irondad tho). Anyway, go off, rant away!

I should give a disclaimer since people lack the emotional fortitude to scroll by opinions they disagree with: this is just an opinion, based on years of being in both of these fandoms and what I’ve been witness to.

To me, there are large swaths of both irondad and spideychelle that do not seem to give a shit about Peter Parker (and as a result, Spider-Man).

IronDad is a bit more obvious to anyone who has been around fandom for a bit. It’s in the name; the inordinate focus of 80% of IronDad fics are about Tony: his fears, his worries, what he thinks about Peter, how his life has been changed from being around Peter. If it’s a whump fic, it’s about how Peter being hurt harms Tony. If it’s a “team” fic, it’s about how Peter can defend/support/have so much hero worship for Tony. If it’s a “family” fic, it’s about Peter is Tony’s long lost son and how that affects him or how learning how to be a Father figure matters for Tony— not the literal orphan who watched his uncle die and is raised by his single aunt, Peter Parker. Even in fics that are in Peter’s POV, you can throw a dart and hit a fic that will most likely be revolving around how Peter fits into Tony’s life compared to the other way around. And if you wanna argue about this, ask yourself— how many fics can you think of that genuinely and truly have Peter’s life and friends at Midtown that don’t debase them into memes or complications where Tony shows up as a cameo one-liner, compared to the alternative?

If you can name those, but you can’t give specifics for the alternative— that gives you a picture of how imbalanced things are.

Spideychelle is a bit trickier, not just because it’s a smaller fandom (which is its own issue and in large part because of IronDad utterly consuming MCU Spider-Man fic which is a problem because he is fucking Spider-Man and should have enough fic and a presence to not be ALWAYS subsumed into Tony Stark’s life but I digress), but because this is not just giving a shit about Peter— but more not giving a shit about Spider-Man.

Not that irondad is free of these tropes (which so much of irondad being starker lite is a topic for another day), but spideychelle focuses on the romance: the getting together, the smut, the relationship, etc. Spider-Man is an obstacle and not in the fun story way. It’s an annoyance, something to be overcome, disregarded or completely ignored because what people really want is tomdaya rpf the romantic journey. It’s far more likely to shoot a dart and find a fic that revolves around the feelings and the relationship between the two of them, with the Spider-Man aspect of who he is being something delegated to a one line reference to patrol or exposition of how Peter “used to prioritize” the city over MJ but “chooses better now” which— sure. But in a vacuum, if the focus is just constantly smut, constant romantic yearning, constant hyperfocusing on either Peter and MJ (because fuck Ned, Flash, May, or literally anyone else right?) that also tends to be no powers or Spider-Man as a non-entity, then I have a hard time believing that people actually give a shit about Peter. Peter is Spider-Man, if you remove that from the equation, he’s just another romantic love interest for the MC the writer projects on.

(And that to me is where the blatant hypocrisy comes in because the sins of irondad are long and many but spideychelle fandom being pretentious as hell, claiming to truly love Peter MORE than irondad, only to ignore Ned and Flash and May in the same ways that IronDad does is ridiculous. IronDad is terrible about Peter’s side characters— and terrible in deeply misogynistic and racist ways, full stop end of story. But spideychelle, while not always or explicitly racist and misogynistic, is really no fucking better if Peter’s best friend doesn’t exist except to give Wisdom or May becomes “MJ’s sole maternal figure” like… do we not all see the connections here)

It’s why my ultimate Thought is that both fandoms have a lot of great strengths but also are absurdly hypocritical about the other in ways neither seems to be self aware about.

IronDad focuses so hard on Spider-Man that Peter Parker doesn’t exist; at best, he’s a flingy little hero that the Avengers can fawn over or a wise cracking whump target that Tony can worry over and at worst, he’s an OOC sobbing little sad sack that couldn’t breathe without Tony and needs cuddles with him and him alone to survive the big bad world. When it comes to Peter’s life, world, friends, family, internal motivations, the focus of the story isn’t Peter as an end to itself— it’s Tony.

Spideychelle focuses so hard on Peter Parker that Spider-Man doesn’t exist: at best he’s a sarcastic little flirty shit that MJ has always been deeply obsessed with and has never known love before until he came into her life or an awkward idiot who can’t form a sentence in front of her and at worst, he’s just a white guy with a dick that sees MJ as another hole. When it comes to Peter’s life, world, friends, family, internal motivations, the focus of the story isn’t Peter as an end to itself— it’s the relationship (not even MJ as a person, which is somehow even worse).

It’s disappointing not just as a Peter Parker fan but also to the detriment of both Tony and MJ— both of whom are characters that have so much potential and are both debased into the most basic and bland characterization they can be that are almost co-dependent to Peter Parker.

Now before someone gets themselves into a snit, I’m not saying fics that combine the best of them don’t exist. Clearly, they do. I love reading them. But they’re not the default— in both “sides” of fandom— and it’s why I’ve been constantly frustrated since 2019 that Peter Parker is the one connecting thread to these two aspects of fandom.

It should not be so fucking rare for anyone to give a shit about Peter enough to see him as that focus, that even when TALKING about MCU Spider-Man— the fandom isn’t even fucking about him, it’s about these relationships.

Okay so I did a whole analysis on Ranboo’s lore music so now it’s time to use that for an actual analysis/interpretation!

There are a few themes in the playlist and I’ll go over the ones that I found one by one. I’ll also mention the songs that correspond to each theme.

(quick disclaimer,,, I’m honestly just having fun here theorizing about whatever lol, I’m hyperfocusing aight, nothing what I talk about can turn out to be valid and I’d just go !!!! new theory time !:D, so it’s just that lmao)

1. Blurring lines between dreams/nightmares and reality. The songs are “Introduction to the Snow”, “Dream Sweet in Sea Major”, “The Mind Electric”, “Stranded Lullaby”. I think this theme is the most straightforward and easy to interpret. c!Ranboo has been dealing with feelings of derealization for a long while and these songs allude to that. I don’t think I need to really get into this one that much given how obvious it is lol. Ranboo at times is having issues telling what’s real and what’s not. The fight with his mind is especially highlighted by the song “The Mind Electric” where he is, quite literally, losing hold on sanity. His “ill” mind is causing him to commit things he wouldn’t want to.

2. The need to belong, be liked, have someone close. The songs are “Ruler of Everything”, “The Bidding”, “Hidden In The Sand”. The theme of isolation also fits here, highlighted by Miracle Musical’s tracks. Ranboo is one of the only characters on the servers that is mostly generally liked. He hasn’t yet got many any enemies or anything of the like, really. It’s often joked that Ranboo has no spine, and that’s a big reason why he hasn’t yet gotten in someone’s bad books. It’s very easy to get him to do whatever you want, pull him to a side. If he protests, it’s only vocal and meek, and soon enough, he gives in. He doesn’t want anyone to dislike him and that can also play into why he has such a hard time to say “no” to anyone.

But it’s all... very surface level. People don’t mind Ranboo, they might enjoy his company, but that’s about it. It’s unfulfilling, it can’t be satisfying. Based on his speeches about people, not sides, we can assume he does value connections a lot. However, instead of trying to form more strong bonds, Ranboo had started isolating himself, choosing to stay away (perhaps in fear of being pulled into a side). His own anxieties is what’s keeping him like this. The longing is still there, though. Now the situation is better with Tubbo, but that brings its own peculiarities. Ranboo’s ready to join a side, the Syndicate, to protect Tubbo, the one he’s most attached to, going against his morals. Sometimes, it’s impossible to choose people without choosing a side.

3. The divide between good and bad, a mindset of black and white. The songs for this would be “Turn the Lights Off”, “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked”, “&”. As we saw from one of Ranboo’s latest streams (the one where he found out Tommy’s alive) and his other ones, Ranboo has a very black and white mindset. He has incredibly strong morals but they are also very skewed. I talked more about that in this post but in short, in Ranboo’s pov, there are the bad guys and then there is the rest. Ranboo seems... almost incapable of looking from a perspective that’s not his own or isn’t closely linked. He’s right in his own mind and that’s all that matters. The idea is that everyone has their own reasons for their actions and, if you looked closer, you could begin to understand them, but Ranboo is looking only through his own lens, is paranoid about making mistakes, and thus can get very harsh sometimes. Since the world isn’t black and white, though, and it’s never just their side or our, he often contradicts himself and goes against his morals.

4. A twisted sense of ego-centrism. My favorite and the one that’s most up to interpretation, I’d say. The songs would be “Killer Queen”, “I Can’t Decide”, “A Mask of My Own Face”, “I’m Gonna Win”. I’d say this one is least related to c!Ranboo as we see on stream, which leaves us with something else... That’s right, enderwalk Ranboo :D! I’d like to preface again that this is purely my own interpretation!! I like to do those a lot lol. But anyway—

A certain idea unites these songs, and it’s the idea of doing whatever you want for your own pleasure. Having no breaks. What’s most entertaining today? Oh, let me indulge in that. They’re also all about things that are actively malicious/frowned upon. Whatever you want to do without any regards to morals. And that got me thinking.

Let me talk about the idea of id, ego and superego. For those unfamiliar with these concepts, id refers to a person’s most primal instincts, their aggressive urges and hidden memories, superego is one’s moral conscience, and ego is the reality, the mediator between id’s desires and superego. The idea is that id operates on pleasures and the need to satisfy them immediately. It’s illogical, irrational, unconscious. Superego is the opposite, sort of—it’s a person’s moral system that dictates what is wrong and what is right, how one should behave. Ego controls both. So, I got thinking, maybe e!Ranboo is just... c!Ranboo’s literal manifestation of his id?

It’d make sense, I think! It’s still Ranboo, just “wild”, as he himself said. Uncontrolled. He has no regards for his image and indulges in his whims. Maybe it’s also part self-preservation. c!Ranboo is divided, he has barely any control of his life, people can make him do whatever they want whenever. And that must be frustrating. Maybe not consciously, but definitely subconsciously. That sort of frustrating of not being able to do what you want and always needing to listen to others could very well manifest as something like a whole different state where he does what he wants, maybe even purely for the hell of it. And to compensate for his id going out of control, he—his ego—might favor his superego, the morality part, more to compensate. That could make him harsher, too. More categorical. Causing a further divide.

And that’s about it for now, I guess. Yeah, this playlist really did... make me think lol.

(yes i am once again creating another theory for why e!ranboo could act the way that he does that doesn’t include manipulation idk sue me, i’ll die on this hill)

also i saw you got hades!!! what do you think so far!! it might be my favorite game of all time tbh i have almost 100 hours in it :’D

ok so i have played hades before, since my friend bought it months ago and we used to hang out while i played it (not as much anymore since we're occupied making our slow way through the aa games but like) and i got to like. early elysium playing with her so the last few days have def not been my first acquaintance w the game but GOD IT'S SO GOOD. tragically no game can compare to ace attorney in terms of how much brain space it's cursed to take up at all times but hades is without question my second favorite game. i think having played w my friend a bit was good tho bc it let my OVERWHELMING EXCITEMENT abt this game simmer a bit before i bought it and now i am just. incredible excited. i have a billion thoughts so heres another readmore lol

i've never liked roguelikes since i hate losing progress on things or doing things over and over again but hades works somehow?? like (ok today i was weird overcaffeinated so i've been a little hyperfocused anyway) but i spent like 5 hours literally doing the same thing over and over and it was SO FUN. altho i met patroclus three times before realizing he wouldn't talk to u until you opened his bit in the codex and that fact is bringing me physical pain :( u know me i always go for the dad characters in media so my main goal since i started the game has been to reunite him and achilles and it's driving me insane i missed all those opportunities to give him nectar >:( also it's fun because it's one of those pieces of media that i can like. trust if that makes sense? it was the same way with rgu where i can see what they're doing and trust the execution will be good and there won't be anything weird and homophobic/sexist/etc in the middle that i'll have to ignore. its rly nice.

also also zag is genuinely my favorite video game protag ever (along with apollo justice who. inarticulate rambling i love him so much) like he enhances the game so much. his little witty commentary all the time (side note the fact that the game has subtitles is so nice and something i didn't realize i wanted until they gave it to me) and how he's so stubborn and he knows to stand his ground (his conversations with hades in the final fight r so good) but also he's a genuinely kind person and he loves his friends and family and puppy dog and :pleading: i've got a soft spot for talking to achilles bc i like achilles but also i love how zag responds! he loves his family and he's so grateful to them for taking care of him. love that. the way he talks to meg and than is awesome too like it would be so easy for them to write a protag who gets annoyed with them both but he DOESN'T and i LOVE HIM. idk i think the game has such incredibly human and loving characters for something whose main cast is almost entirely immortal.

im rly glad i decided to buy it for myself tho! it's fun to start like. strategizing in the game. like the shield is my favorite weapon (bc i like ranged attacks but can't aim for my life) and then having doom on the special.. chefs kiss. love walking away from an enemy and then them dying behind me. idk i love it so so much. game of all time. i also am OBSESSED w how well balanced it is. like everything seems somehow both super hard and completely achievable and thats so fun. like the hades boss fight? the fact that he has three stages (i think) is jsdklfjsf especially since i can barely get through the first but also i can get through the first so i know i can get through the rest and thats soo good. like the way you can tell you're improving both because you're stronger but also the game has such a good learning curve that you actively get better at the game??? kjsldfj i love how much there is to discover!! going to the codex and seeing how much you haven't found is so exciting and idkidk i love it.

anyway yeah i love this game so much. (i could gush for hours abt the art and CHARACTER DESIGN OH MY GOD but like i'm sure u already know so. i will leave it at the fact that i saw zag and than interact for the first time and my only thought was oh my god it's narumitsu. i mean than is obvious but zag has backwards phoenix hair. also chaos... chefs kiss oh my god. NYX???? HYPNOS?? PATROCLUS AND EURYDICE AND ORPHEUS?? was going to keep listing characters but then i wouldn't be able to stop so :sob:)

I’m trying to determine if I have adhd because SOOOO much of what I’ve seen described on here is stuff that I relate to on a very deep level-like at this point even if I don’t have it, I still feel like I at least need help dealing with some of this stuff cause I can’t seem to break the habit of some of these things, I’m making this list mostly for my own record so that I can refer back to it if I get counseling—

Keeping my space clean-I’ll drop stuff on the floor as soon as I get home, always telling myself I’ll clean it up “a little later”. A month later the stuff is still there and hasn’t been touched, and there’s a good chance there’s more stuff that’s been added to it. Same thing happens with kitchen stuff. I’ll put dishes in the sink and then ignore them until they literally become a disgusting moldy mess. Then I finally clean them but feel guilt for letting it get that bad in the first place.

Procrastinating-I procrastinate on things I need to get done, sometimes for days/weeks/months if possible. Then I feel guilty for procrastincating and rush to get everything done at once, which often makes me super stressed or causes me to breakdown.

Hyperfocusing (?)-I’m gonna call this hyperfocusing cause I don’t know what else it could be. Ever since I was small, if I find something I like, I focus on it for YEARS and it becomes my favorite thing. When I was younger it was mostly cartoons like Pokémon, Power Puff Girls and Jackie Chan Adventures, and then I graduated to Naruto and anime in general. The other side of this was me getting extremely focused on doing things like drawing/playing video games. To this day if I start a drawing and “get in the groove” while making it, I can’t stop until I’ve finished it, even if I need to go to the bathroom/take a shower/eat, I’ll keep drawing. This also happens with puzzle games and video games in general. I often lose sleep because of this, even when I plan to or want to go to bed early. I keep telling myself “just 10 minutes more” until suddenly it’s 1:30 am and I have to work tomorrow at 8.

Volume control- I don’t think this is a thing that happens with everyone and am not even sure it is connected with adhd at all, but I’ve always had a really hard time realizing how loud my voice is. When I was a kid my mom would constantly tell me “inside voice!” and even now my friends often tell me “you don’t have to shout” when I didn’t even realize I was shouting. This happens the most when I’m excited or happy about something. It kinda sucks because it’s something I’ve become very self-conscious about and usually feel bad when someone tells me to be quieter

Stimming (?) -I don’t know what else to call this, so if it’s a word only for autistic people to use please let me know. When I am especially anxious or my anxiety is triggered, I tap on things, to mimic “knocking on wood”. I’ll tap on anything but if there IS a wooden surface available I prefer to use it. I have to knock 12 times twice and then knock 24 times. Alternatively if I lose count I can stop at 33 and if I space out and miss 33 then I have to go to 50. I usually don’t space out at 50 but if I do then I’ll go to 100. This usually calms me down, but I will also repeat the pattern for a while if I think it’s necessary.

Time Management- I have a difficult time managing my time (lol) Its not unusually for me to be late or, extremely early. I often misjudge how long it will take me to do a task or get someplace. Or I forget to factor in certain things like the time it will take me to get from my room to the car, or the possibility of there being traffic/red lights. Taking tests was difficult if it was a subject I wasn’t good at, because I often felt like I didn’t have enough time to work on certain problems.

Thoughts Gone Fucking BONKERS- I have a really hard time with overthinking things. I overthink things pretty much constantly. While this can be a good thing-thinking about story ideas or character designs or fun stuff is nice cause I can keep thinking of new concepts or ideas for a long time- if I get focused on a negative or upsetting thought, it can stick with me for years and affect my daily life by making me anxious. I often lay in bed at night just trying to quiet my mind so I can get some dang sleep, and if I’m thinking hard enough about something I will actually not hear when people are talking to me.

Collecting/Hoarding- I can’t remember exactly if this is something that actually coincides with adhd, but I collect shit like crazy and have a VERY hard time letting stuff go. I don’t know if Marie Kondo would be able to help me because EVERYTHING sparks joy in me, and so how could I get rid of anything? I have stacks of little papers and postcards and movie tickets at my house because I tell myself I’ll use them to decorate the walls but usually they just end up in a pile of stuff I forget about.

Misreading/Mispronouncing/Skipping words when writing- I don’t have dyslexia, and learned to read easily enough, but I often misread words entirely or skip words when writing things and then don’t notice till later.

These are just some things I wanted to make note of. I am planning on talking to a counselor/psychiatrist when I get home, and want to have an organized-ish list of stuff that I feel is relevant so I don’t forget everything.

👶- advice for new writers =

yall this is hella fucking generic but PRACTISE. theres a reason almost literally every writer on tumblr gives the advise of “practise practise practise” and that reason is it works. practise doesnt mean ‘oh just write bc youll automatically get better over time’ it means ‘write bc if you dont, you wont figure out what you need to improve.’ did yall know that i literally had no sentence variation in the past? i started every sentence with [character name] or [character pronoun] and i didnt realise until i was 15/16 and i only realised bc i started writing a lot.

i think there’s a fear of failure with new writers. there’s this lingering doubt of “what if its not good?” and boy howdy i will answer that question right fucking now. it wont be good. when i compare my current work to my earlier work, my earlier work sucked fucking shit. i spelled soldier with a fucking ‘j’ and i had no idea what the hell a point of view was. and thats okay. whoever tells you that youre going to perfect writing is a fucking liar. there is no perfecting writing. 20 years from now, imma look at the writing from today and im gonna think it sucks shit. writing is a process. its a craft. you get better and better over time and the way you get better is by experimenting w different styles, different genres, different ways of writing.

and the only way you can experiment and improve is through practise. in video games, especially rpgs (which are my favourite kind of video games), you struggle in the early game. youre at a low level, you dont have good equipment, you have a hard time moving to the next area. but the only way you progress is by grinding, gaining levels, and getting stronger. same w writing. if youre a level 1 writer, just starting out, no idea what to do, just experiment. fuck around a bit. write crackships, write rarepairs, write niche self-indulgent reader/character fics. at the end of the day, you should write for yourself. its good and cool if other people like your stuff and validate all your hard work, but at the end of the day, the one who should enjoy your writing the most is yourself.

you WILL mess up and you WILL struggle, but thats the only way you can improve. i struggle with pacing the most. still do. but others might have pacing down pat and struggle instead with word choice or pov or something else. cant figure out where you need to improve if you dont write, so just practise and worry about all the fine print later

⭐️- how do you get your inspiration? =

this is definitely not universal, but i just sit on my bed, close my eyes, and meditate. cycle through all my emotions and thoughts and filter them out. then i just toss everything out the damn window. like. id just meditate for a while, focus on breathing, on experiencing the present, picture a field and a tree and myself and breathe. thoughts fly by and i let them happen but dont focus on it.

meditating gives me some semblance of emotional control bc i normally have none, and it gives me kind of this space. this safe space that only exists for me and me alone. so i use that space to let the world drift away. just me and my thoughts and sometimes, those thoughts end up being good writing ideas. but i usually meditate for a set amount of time. like 15 minutes or 30 minutes so i dont write until i finish meditating.

then when i get out of my headspace, i open up my laptop and see what i remember. thinking too hard about something causes it to muddy up. same with art. in digital art, artists flip the canvas to refresh their eyes, see if there’s anything weird or wonky about the illustration that they normally dont see bc theyve gotten used to it. flipping the canvas is like giving our eyes a jumpstart and lets us see what we could do better. in traditional art, its turning the canvas this way and that or repositioning yourself. meditating is like that. a break. a cleanse. a kind of pause where you dont think about anything and just try to process what you already have. you relax and kind of let yourself float down a river of thoughts and sometimes, a fish would jump out of that river and youd go “hey, thats a good idea. i should try that” so when you get out of the river, youre refreshed and ready to go.

same principle with showers. more ideas come to you in the shower when you dont have anything to write with bc youre not thinking about it. youre not focusing on finding inspiration or motivation so ideas naturally flow through you. you know that feeling when you want to do x then someone comes along and says “hey you should do x” and suddenly all motivation to do x leaves? same w your brain. focus too much on “i should be writing” or “i want inspiration” and its never gonna come. just let things happen. at least, thats how i do it. some people might get inspiration by reading or watching tv. everyones different so if thats not what works out for you, dont feel pressured to try my method

💘- what’s your favorite AU? Least favorite? =

magic au. specifically fantasy au set in like a pre-modern era. shows like avatar where theres all this magic and fantastical beasts and so on and so forth. semi-modern like six of crows and nevernight are great too. i want that magic to be woven into people’s lives. harry potter is okay but there’s like this separation between magic and muggle. there’s this feeling of “magic” but like as a tool. like a spoon or a gun or a shovel. i want magic au’s that are INTEGRATED with the world its set in.

like in atla, earth kingdom people have trains they move with bending while fire nation people have machines powered by heat and steam. both correspond to their bending and makes sense for the world they live in. but if your plot is like harry potter and its less worldbuilding and more action, then there’s this book series called seasons rising (read it. so good) where there’s a bunch of spells but the spells have character. the people using the spells GIVE it character and it feels much more intimate. pokemon does the whole fantasy mixed w reality better. give two trainers the exact same pokemon and by the time that pokemon reaches lvl 50, its gonna have a different moveset, different fight style, etc bc it was shaped by the world and people around it. i like harry potter but tbh it could have been so much better

for the least favourite au, it’s A/B/O i dont like the whole “omegas are only good for breeding hurr durr” and “alphas are violent and aggressive and cant control themselves around omegas” thing and it squicks me out. major squick. i read the original harry potter squick (THAT one. yeah. you know the one) and i still hate a/b/o more. i get why people like it, and there are one or two fics set in a/b/o au that i enjoy reading, but as a whole, i severely dislike a/b/o fics.

the themes are squick, the character dynamics get so messed up, and shipping dynamics (bc a/b/o fics usually have shipping) just get so blown out of proportion. there are so many a/b/o fics that turn ooc or the character interpretations radically change or something else. no hate against a/b/o fans bc yall are amazing for writing/drawing yalls au. there are things that you can only do in this setting and exploring those things can be incredibly fun for people, but for me personally, its not an au i like to visit.

(BNHA) Viper. its my first serious attempt at fanfic in YEARS and its my baby. currently has 7 chapters, i havent updated it in a while bc im hyperfocused on ts rn, but i love it to bits. its just all of my fav bnha fics crammed into one fic. quirkless kind of villain izuku with stain as a mentor as they work together to bring light to the injustices of hero society and where bakugos bullying has visible and long-lasting repercussions? sign me the fuck up. you can read it on ao3 HERE bc its not on tumblr. kind of fast-paced, has a lot more action scenes than anything else ive written. heavy plot-wise but has a lot of humour and comedy to break things up

(Kimetsu no Yaiba) I Pray To God He Hears You. not related to my other kny fic oleander which is a multichap retelling au. iptghhy is a standalone one-shot and kind of a character study on one giyuu tomioka. i love him so much. giyuu is my baby and i adore him. so of course i wrote a sad fic focusing on him. well technically, the fic focuses on giyuu AND his relationships. SPOILERS for chapters 130 and 131 of the manga. focuses mostly on giyuu and sabito, but there’s a fair bit of giyuu and tanjiro and urokodaki. you can read it HERE bc this is also not on tumblr. also deals with heavy things but more emotion-wise since it doesnt have that much of a plot. loss. grief. moving on. survivors guilt. that kind of stuff. very sad. hurt but with comfort, especially at the end.

(Sanders Sides) Logan’s Birthday Fic: Logicality. just what the title says. i wrote 5 different fics and published them all on logans bday but the logicality one received the most feedback and honestly? the cutest of the bunch. its gonna be crossposted onto ao3 but for now, you can read it HERE on my ts sideblog. theres no plot since its literally just domestic and relationship fluff. and puns. patton is in the fic, theres gonna be puns. nothing but good things and warm feelings bc logan deserves it.

...oh boy. Friend, some of these memes are actually edging into spoiler territory, because of Reasons.

Under the bolded part for those who don't want spoilers, because the more I think about it the more likely I am to ramble and the memes are actually a very important plot point in TWiFFON, no matter how ridiculous that sounds without context.

Also: in regards the memes you’ve mentioned, I get the feeling some of them would probably be SI-only. For instance, while the Fashion Week Fiasco made headlines, other incidents [cough cough, the Relay Race] are the sort of thing that stays in-house. Kinda like Legal’s jokes about world domination, now that I think about it.

The spoilery territory comes with the memes that might involve the world, though, for multiple reasons.

See, after the Civil War arc, there’s going to be a few others to go: the fallout of Civil War, the Final Battle, and the Realization.

Specifically, after the Civil War arc, there’s going to be another timeskip as Tony acutely feels the crunch of ‘oh shit the Avengers aren’t an option to protect the planet anymore, it’s literally just me, oh fuck’.

When he feels this crunch, he’s not going to pull his punches intellectually— by which I mean he’s going to delve into morally dubious stuff, and the other side of the Merchant of Death takes center stage as he brainstorms potential defense after defense for Earth. Here’s the thing: when I say ‘morally dubious’, I mean ‘he’s going to wish he could afford to drink something stronger than coffee’ because he’s going to go over SHIELD’s shadier research, notes of the tech found after New York, everything JARVIS found via scouring the dark web, you name it.

Even more specifically, remember that energy shield that protected the portal device in the first Avengers movie? Remember how it was borderline impossible for anyone to get past it?

Yeah, Tony’s going to do something like that. But for the entire planet.

An immense network of satellites and what-have-you, spanning the entire globe.

[it’s not exactly original since I got the idea from both Star Wars and Doctor Who, but bear with me]

There’s more to it than that, but the energy shield is meant to be one of the last lines of defense.

Here’s the thing: it’s not subtle. Kinda hard to be, with its size and the breathtaking amounts of energy it requires [good thing SI’s invested so heavily into green energy], and its name is what makes it prime meme fodder.

Because what everyone’s seeing is this bigass energy shield network in the sky, keeping out the vast armies that stretch as far as the eye can see. And Tony’s naming skills are only marginally better than a biologist’s, and the rest of humanity’s isn’t much better.

The energy shield’s official name is the Iron Dome [also because it’s got the same idea as the thing in real life], but the moment it went online, the internet renamed it Skynet, which, awkward.

It only gets funnier after the Reveal, too.

...on another note, the main role the memes play ties in with Tony’s obliviousness.

See, after the Civil War arc, Tony’s [understandably] hyperfocused on the whole ‘protecting the Earth’ schtick and doesn’t really have time for much else. He’s tangentially aware of other stuff going on, but he has so much to do he doesn’t really pay attention to it.

When the first memes about world domination start to float around, he blinks but goes back to work, because again, turns out that when it comes to protecting the planet, if you want something done right you have do it yourself. Normally he’d have fun with the memes, would be over the moon and be laughing at them with everyone else— but he has Things To Do.

The single meme I have in mind for the matter is Star Trek-based, and also later on serves as the basis for why the rest of the galaxy refers to them as the Terran Empire, btw.

The first meme desensitized him to the idea; by the time Pepper approaches him about it, he thinks she’s joking. When the Sorcerer Supreme shows up shooting him significant looks and talking about being responsible to take care of threats to the Earth, the implied threat flies right over Tony’s head and he just goes “great, welcome to the club! I haven’t accounted for magic yet, is there anything we could tweak in this project to bolster our defenses?”

This is why it takes a honest-to-goodness Destroyer of Worlds to break it to him that no, it’s not a joke, he genuinely did take over the world. Yeah, oops.

...long story short, I really like the idea, but again, not sure how much screentime I’d be able to give the memes in the main fic. The sidefic would allow for more screen time, of course, but I’m not sure if that’s something you’d want to see?

alright so from what i’ve gathered both from gameplay and research, the ai for smash ultimate had competitive level players working on it, which explains why the ai is much harder to fight than its’ ever been. on the one hand, if you are a competitive player and are allergic to showering, this is great since it gives you something close to your level offline. if you are a more casual player and have basic hygiene though this makes alot of offline play pretty shit actually since ultimate is a fast game like melee and combined with the much more capable ai that knows all the possible combos, manoeuvres, counters and has perfect awareness of spacing and what your moves do and how to use their own perfectly, makes it the hardest game in the series to learn how to play and adapt to. this problem is exacerbated by the fact that all other minigames like target smash or home run are gone and pve consists almost entirely of fighter battles with only boss battles to break it up very rarely. as a result you will spend a good chunk of smash ultimate getting your shit kicked in while trying to adapt to the pacing of the game and due to the faster pace it is almost impossible to learn what your character does and how their moves work in a practical testing environment against active fighters when they know more than you and can execute button presses perfectly. the game never actively teaches you more advanced ways to play, only the very basics and the controls, and the game never once does a good job at preparing you to learn these things. the other games never did since they played in a way that let you work stuff out and didn’t perfectly punish any mistakes made without fail each time. the problem isn’t that it’ll force you to get better on a competitive level, but that it is very anti-casual player in execution, with classic mode not letting you pick your difficulty past 5 and punishing you for fucking up by locking you out of control over difficulty, and by the ai being so broken and too good at the game in a game too fast to know whats going on half the time. if you dont have perfect eyesight, avoid showers like the plague, and don’t live at tournaments, then the basic smashing can become very very unfun if you don’t have friends to play with, since the ai is constantly in a no fun allowed mode and always counters, avoids or breaks out of anything you want to try out and get a feel for, discouraging you from actually learning how to get better since it does not reward you for trying it only punishes you at every turn. hard ai works in a more methodical game but in a game like smash that’s a horrible fucking idea. competitive things should be kept on a competitive level and the casual player shouldn’t be forced to endure a bunch of advanced techniques they were never told were even in the game. it’s a nightmare trying to play pve to enjoy yourself when you get 17 hit combo’d by a character you had no idea could do that all while you press every button on your controller and nothing happens and you want to throw your switch out the window. i just dont like it when the game curbstomps me with a bunch of techniques it never taught me with an ai that seems be reading my controller to know where im going and even when im pressing the buttons and perfectly guarding everything and punishing with the exact right move. i’d rather the ai have some leeway because a normal average player gives you leeway because they too make mild mistakes or have to take a second to process what’s happening on screen rather than a robot that feels like its cheating half the time.

i dont really enjoy competitive style play since it takes an incredibly long amount of time learning shit you never knew how to do and the tiny margins for error and constant momentum you need to maintain isnt something everyone can manage and as a result you play in a hyperfocused way on just one or two characters instead of playing everyone and having fun as was intended at one point and now the ai is going full competitive style and making it too hard to win or have fun alot of the time like the other games you could fire up some matches in basic smash and have fun but this one takes alot more intense effort to be able to enjoy that aspect and that’s really not good at all and learning to play new characters is leagues harder than it used to be since the ai just doesnt let you get to grips with anything at all before they’ve stamped you into the mud for even trying which is a trend in alot of japanese games lately thats irritating me to no end because it seems like only fromsoft seems to understand how to difficulty in a game anymore i dunno i just want to enjoy singleplayer rather than have to become a fucking tournament champion overnight just to beat an ai stronger than level 5

#like if the game taught me how to do all this shit i wouldnt mind but smash is a fighting game so #that makes it one of the worst kind of games for teaching you anything at all about how it functions on more than a basic level

ok i had to dig WAAAAAY fucking back in my texts to find this bc i can’t fucking remember it but. his birth name is laermeluion (lyre-mehl-wee-on) aeralinde, when he was in the mafia he went by horthien, and now his full name is just. alphonse mcallister. laermeluion means “man with a sweet song”, horthien means “quick”, and he just chose his current name bc he liked that it sounded human.

2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?

not currently. pretty sure he gets a title when he marries shaelle but?? i can’t remember what it is

3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory?

he grew up very very poor and he never actually had any proper schooling but his momma loved him to death and did the best she could to give him a good childhood, so he was generally a pretty happy kid. his best memories are of playing in the neighborhood and getting up to trouble with the other kids, and then of his mom singing him lullabies in elvish. a bad memory is when one of his best friends fell off the top of some scaffolding at a construction site their little gang was playing at and basically bashed his skull in. the kid was in a coma for a week before he finally died and it was al’s first real experience with death.

4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents?

he has an extremely close relationship with his mom. his dad, not so much. the guy wasn’t exactly a great father and they didn’t hate each other or anything, but he was always distant towards his son. he just didn’t really know how to be a dad. a good memory with his mom is cooking vegetable soup on a rainy day. the sound of the rain on their thin roof, the warm aroma from the pot, her graying hair tied up and falling out of its bun. her worn, elegant hands chopping onions. a bad memory is the fight they got into when she found out he was fucking around with the mafia. she didn’t want that for her son. a good memory with his dad was just. sitting by the stove (they didn’t have a fire) in silence together?? alphonse on the dirt floor playing with something and his dad dozing off in his battered old armchair. sometimes he’d let him sit on his lap when he was younger, but that became less and less frequent the bigger he got. a bad memory is of getting in trouble for busting a neighbor’s window when he was around twelve – his dad dragged him inside by the collar and smacked him across the face and told him he needed to stop messing around and start pulling his weight if he ever wanted to get anywhere in life.

this one is easy ‘cause he doesn’t have any siblings! he’s an only child

uhhh he never actually went to school??? he just did the police academy and became a policeman, then got promoted to detective. does that count

he did, he rolled with a big gang of kids that all lived on the same street. unfortunately a lot of them are either part of the mafia, dead, or have no idea he still exists, so.

no pets as a kid, and none as an adult either. he likes animals but he’s too busy to properly keep one.

dogs love him because they can sense a kindred lovable idiot spirit in him

he ADORES children, and i think kids generally like him pretty well too. he’s fun and patient, if not a little overprotective and worrying sometimes.

he’s actually pretty good at cooking, i think. he inherited it from his mom. they like to cook together when he comes to visit and vice versa. he probably also cooks for shaelle sometimes because it’s one of the ways he shows his affection – he’ll spend hours in the kitchen humming and whistling and bustling around. he would 100% wear an apron that says kiss the cook

neckties and pocket squares babey. he wears those and looks dapper as hell, and when he’s not wearing them they’re in his wardrobe, meticulously organized.

he would probably take lots of candids of shaelle because he thinks she’s gorgeous all the time, but also plenty of stupid selfies. that being said, i don’t think he shares any of them. he’s a deceptively private person.

romance novels and poetry are his weakness in life. he likes pretty much all music?? and i think if they had tv in fantasyland he’d watch soap operas religiously.

he likes music but can’t actually play anything – he can sing alright, but he’s no bard. mostly he whistles. if he hears a song he really likes he’d probably try to get someone to dance with him.

he does have a temper, although that’s not usually the first thing that comes to mind. he can be very patient in certain situations and completely without patience in others – he particularly can’t stand assholes or situations he deems injust. when he REALLY loses his temper, he’s genuinely frightening. all of his intensity gets focused into his rage and it’s. it’s scary.

22. What are their favorite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they prefer to bitch behind someone’s back?

any curse will do. asshole, douchebag, motherfucker, etc. if he doesn’t like you, he will tell you straight to your face. and he won’t be gentle about it either.

23. Do they have a good memory? Short term or long term? Are they good with names? Or faces?

he’s got a surprisingly good memory, considering he’s not all that bright. it’s usually his attention span that’s lacking, although when he hyperfocuses he HYPERFOCUSES. he’s better with faces than names, i think. he doesn’t forget people’s faces.

24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?

uh, terrible. he’s bad at sleeping. he likes to sleep on a soft mattress.

25. What do they find funny? Do they have a good sense of humor? Are they funny themselves?

crude humor, not gonna lie. dick jokes will get him. but again, not in polite company. he has manners. he’s an easy laugher, though, and he’s funny but usually it’s because he’s stupid.

26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions?

he’s all smiles when he’s happy, and very bouncy and bright. he whistles like nobody’s business.

27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like when they’re sad?

sometimes he feels utterly hopeless. it’s difficult sometimes working on his cases, especially when they’re hasn’t been a lead in a while, and nothing seems to be going anywhere. he’s a quiet crier. he usually only cries in the privacy of his own home. when he’s sad, it’s like all the light has gone out of him. he’s a muted version of himself.

28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?

his biggest fear is being recognized for who he was, or for the monster he thinks he is. in general he’s afraid of spiders and heights. when he’s truly afraid he’ll get tense and serious and fidgety.

29. What do they do when they find out someone else’s fear? Do they tease them? Or get very overprotective?

it depends on the fear. if it’s something he thinks is irrational then he can be less than helpful – he’ll just bluntly tell them that it’s stupid, because he genuinely doesn’t understand why they’re afraid of it. but if it’s something very serious, like fear of failure or death, something he can relate to, then he’s much more soothing and supportive.

30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out?

if you count running around the city on foot for investigations as exercise, then yes. otherwise he doesn’t really have the time for it.

31. Do they drink? What are they like drunk? What are they like hungover? How do they act when other people are drunk or hungover? Kind or teasing?

he doesn’t drink very often, and it’s usually only a glass or so of something. he doesn’t like to get drunk. but when he is drunk he’s very sappy and romantic and tends to wax poetic about nothing in particular. hungover he’s snappy and irritable. he finds other people amusing when they’re drunk or hungover, but he’ll help them out.

32. What do they dress like? What sort of shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

he dresses very smartly. three piece suit, tie, pocket square, overcoat, shiny black shoes. he generally buys clothes from a tailor – he makes enough money to be able to as long as he keeps his pieces relatively inexpensive. he loves the clothes he wears. if he actually gets the chance to get ready for bed, he wears a button-down pajama shirt and matching pants in a smooth, satiny material. otherwise he sleeps in the clothes he was wearing already. he doesn’t need to wear makeup and doesn’t really have any interest in it. his hair is neatly groomed and styled. he puts a lot of weight on appearance.

33. What underwear do they wear? Boxers or briefs? Lacey? Comfy granny panties?

whatever fantasy underwear??? but probably just briefs. although i can definitely see him wearing lingerie. but. not every day.

he’s lean, athletic, with a trim waist and shoulders a bit on the wider side. angular but elegant. 5′11, tall for an elf. he doesn’t really care about his body either way?? he has other, more pressing reasons to feel bad about himself

35. What’s their guilty pleasure? What is their totally unguilty pleasure?

trashy romance novels. expensive tobacco.

36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?

he’s surprisingly eloquent, especially with the written word. he’s also just very good with people. when he wants to be, anyway. he likes reading, writing, going to see live music, dancing, long walks in the park, and memorizing monologues and poetry. someday that’ll come in handy when he gets to make that grand declaration of love he’s been dreaming of for decades. does blowing smoke rings count as a talent? he can carry a tune, but he’s not a singer by trade. he’s got a nice voice, though.

37. Do they like to read? Are they a fast or slow reader? Do they like poetry? Fiction or nonfiction?

he very much likes to read, but i think he’s a pretty slow reader since he didn’t go to school. his mom taught him how to read and write. he loves poetry and fiction.

he admires dedication, steadfastness, bravery, expressiveness. he wishes he could play an instrument.

39. Do they like letters? Or prefer emails/messaging?

he loves letters. i think even out of the fantasy world he still sends letters on his personalized, scented stationery.

40. Do they like energy drinks? Coffee? Sugary food? Or can they naturally stay awake and alert?

he drinks coffee for work, and he’s got a bit of a sweet tooth. he likes lemon desserts.

41. What’s their sexuality? What do they find attractive? Physically and mentally? What do they like/need in a relationship?

probably pansexual??? he finds it attractive when people speak their mind or get passionate about something, and he’s also drawn to talent and intelligence. he likes muscles and, well. he’s a boobs guy. and hips and thighs. he likes the kind of relationship that burns intensely for a while and then fades into something more comfortable and warm. he very much likes spoiling his partner.

42. What are their goals? What would they sacrifice anything for? What is their secret ambition?

his goal at this point is just to continue doing as much good as he can while working as a detective. he would sacrifice anything for his mother and his few friends. and for most people, really. he’s very self-sacrificing. he just wants to be able to as much as possible make up for the terrible things he did by doing good instead.

he’s not religious, and i don’t think he cares much either way. it’s not really something he thinks about, unless someone uses their religion or lack of religion to justify something he thinks is shitty. then he classifies them as an asshole.

44. What is their favorite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?

summer, blue skies and warm nights. he’s much more tolerant of the heat than the cold. he absolutely complains about being cold.

45. How do other people see them? Is it similar to how they see themselves?

people find him charming, or an idiot, or both. a lot of people see him as a good person, i think, which is completely at odds with how he sees himself.

46. Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves?

this one really depends. usually yes, he does make a good first impression, and one that reflects him accurately. that’s when he’s very polite and charming and kind. if he’s decided he doesn’t like someone, however, like shaelle’s boyfriend cam (i think that was his name lmao), he comes across as a total dick. because he acts like a dick.

47. How do they act on a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?

al loves formal events and loves the excuse to dress up, but he hates snooty rich people. so it’s a bit of a toss-up for him. at the very least he gets to dance and enjoy free food and piss off some nobles, so yeah, i’d say he likes formal events.

48. Do they enjoy any parties? If so what kind? Do they organize the party or just turn up? How do they act? What if they didn’t want to go but were dragged along by a friend?

he loves dances. usually he just shows up, and dances with as many partners as he can, and is the absolute belle of the ball. if he didn’t want to go, then it’s a different story – it’s probably a party for nobles if he doesn’t want to go. but if it’s shaelle who’s making him go then he’ll behave because he loves her.

49. What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something they have to take everywhere with them?

a brooch that his mother gave him when he turned sixteen (in elf years, not human years). it’s one of the few beautiful things she ever owned, and he cherishes it and occasionally wears it on his lapel if he feels the need for a little extra luck and support. he’s very sentimental. he takes his pipe everywhere with him, and that’s half because he’s so attached to it and half because he’s got a nicotine addiction. oops.

50. If they could only take one bag of stuff somewhere with them, what would they pack? What do they consider their essentials?

at least five different neckties to go with one suit, his pipe, the brooch, his favorite book of poetry.
