Anytime I miss Luthara, I go to check out the tags...and remember why I stopped being active in the DBH fandom. Cause I can't even find anything with Kara in it, much less Luthara or the Kara fam.
Fandoms always have favorites but the way the DBH fandom almost entirely ignore Karas complete story line is on a whole other level.

i was thinking about your post about your frustrations with the way fandom talks about romance and True Loves—do you get the sense that there's been a bit too much romanticizing of the "i broke the world for us" line? because i feel like the reason it works is that it is, among other things, an encapsulation of how selfish the briarwoods were, rather than a depiction of a healthy romantic relationship worth preserving or emulating. and i'm sure the players know this, but with the way people have discussed that quote regarding imodna in particular, i'm not...fully sure the fandom does? it's like people want imogen and laudna to wrap their entire lives around each other to the exclusion of everyone and everything else.
like, the reason that line is interesting to me in relationship to percy/vex is that their relationship wound up serving as a narrative foil to sylas and delilah; while percy and vex very explicitly influenced each other not to go down that path, they also had several other people in their lives who mattered to them and impacted their growth. and idk i just get the sense that rather than examining the idea of unhealthy codependence, fandom just wants to see these two characters perennially attached at the hip, and i can't say i find that idea terribly interesting. (as you said, there's a reason the briarwoods were npcs; a dynamic like that among player characters could get very tiresome.)
You know, it's hard to say, but I think so. The thing is, it's a great line, but the context is actually quite important: Delilah says "I broke the world for us" as Sylas is being killed by Keyleth's Sunbeam, after the aborted attempt to summon Vecna. This is the line of someone who thinks she's failed; it can be seen as "I had to do all this, some of which I didn't particularly wish to do, and then I don't even get what I wanted, which was to spend eternity with my hot vampire husband?
In other words, I think a lot of people interpret this as "I would do anything for my love" and I think that's part of it, but there's also a not inconsiderable undercurrent of "I got in WAY too deep in the hopes of saving his life, and now I don't even get more than five fucking stressful years?" I mean, Delilah is not terribly sympathetic, because of the murders and the necromancy, but it is in many ways indicated that Vecna was rather opportunistic into calling out to a powerful necromancer who happened to be vulnerable and desperate. On some level I have to wonder if, perhaps, prior to her deal, the Briarwoods did have friends; and then with Sylas as a vampire and Delilah going harder on the necromancy work, they had to cut ties to hide the secret, or they lost those friends when they were discovered and kicked out of the assembly. We see them at a point where all they have is each other...but that could be the result of what they've had to do to have each other.
Regardless, I hesitate to attribute this to why people are weird about other ships; I think that comes from a lot of places, and honestly I've seen far worse justifications or characterizations of ships. I think some of this being brought up for Imogen and Laudna when the story has not really backed up that kind of devotion is just because Delilah is in the story and so they're reminded of it. But I do think that saying someone would break the world for someone else isn't necessarily a sign that it's a dedicated and all-consuming romantic relationship; merely that it's one with little foresight or sense of proportion.

Draken, Chifuyu, Mitsuya, the Kawata twins and Kazutora in:
When they see you with your ex.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: E/N means Ex's name. The ex changes gender for each one to be more exclusive I'm sorry if it feels confusing. Kazutora's has mild angst but otherwise this is really sfw.
🌟 Draken
☆ He'd kinda crashed Mikey and Emma's day out. You'd told him you had something to do this weekend so what else was he supposed to do with his free time? The three of them had stopped to eat on the outdoor patio at a nice restaurant and while Emma and Mikey chatted away about something school related. Draken sat quietly sipping his tea.
☆ You'd been kinda weird when he'd asked why the two of you couldn't hang out today. You didn't even tell him what it was you were doing instead. And you always told him literally everything about your life. Sometimes unprompted.
• "Hey, isn't that Name?" Emma's voice suddenly caught his attention.
• "Who's the guy?" Mikey questioned in between bites of his food.
☆ Draken's head shot in the direction Emma had pointed in. Sure enough there you were, talking with a guy who was about the same height as Draken. Weirdly enough Draken felt like he'd seen this guy somewhere before.
• "Is that?.. E/N?"
☆ Draken squinted still staring at the two of you talking. You didn't exactly look happy but you and your ex were standing way too close. He felt a little pang in his heart.
• "Maybe she just.." Emma cut herself off. Your arm came up to wrap around your ex's neck. Pulling him in for a hug which he just as soon reciprocated.
• "Let's just go." Draken said and Emma seemed to immediately agree. As soon as Draken and Emma squeezed back into the open doors of the restaurant Mikey hightailed it in the opposite direction.
• "Dammit Mikey!"
• "Mikey!" Emma called but it was definitely too late for that.
☆ Mikey ran up behind you tapping your shoulder as Emma and Draken made their way down to the scene that was now forming.
• "Are you cheating on Ken chin?" Mikey questioned with zero hesitation. His face stern and his shoulders bared.
• "Mikey.." You said
• "I would've preferred to do this later." Draken grit. Though Mikey didn't even spare him a glance.
• "This is.. your new boyfriend right?" E/N asked
• "Name." Emma began "I know you wouldn't cheat on Draken.."
☆ You sighed putting some space between Mikey who looked two seconds away from punching someone and your ex whose confusion seemed to grow the longer this went on.
• "I'm not, I would never.." You sighed before continuing on. "He's dating my friend now and since we had some bad blood between us.. I figured I should try to get along with him since he's staying in my life. But I'm so sorry Ken Ken, I should've told you yesterday when you asked."
☆ Mikey stepped to the side as you held out your hand for Draken to take. He wasted no time pulling you into his arms, pressing a kiss to the top of your forehead.
• "Don't ever do this again."
• "Go out with my ex without explaining myself? Or get caught going out with my ex without explaining myself?"
• "All of it." Mikey interjected, hands placed in his pocket but his normal smile was starting to reappear.
• "Go home you two. I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon with these two."
• "Oh? Is it because you're worried something will happen?" You asked Draken laced your finger tips slipping your hand into his pocket.
• "I was never worried, I just wanted to spend time with you." He explained
☆ Definitely should've just invited him in the first place because within a couple hours your ex and Draken have become better friends than the two of you were supposed to be.
🌟 Chifuyu
☆ Him and Takemichi decided to spend the afternoon in Chifuyu's favorite manga shop since sitting at home had become tiresome.
☆ Takemichi had organized a small pile of books around his body like a nest while Chifuyu just searched the aisles aimlessly. He didn't have a book in mind before coming here so he figured he'd pick one out from his favorite section once they got there.
• "Hey Chifuyu?" Takemichi looked up as Chifuyu flipped through one book while he held another in his hand.
• "I can't buy both of these. Takemichi which one do you think is better?"
• "Isn't that Name?" Takemichi pointed over the stack of books on his left sure enough just outside the aisle was you with a girl chatting away.
• "Who's the girl Name's talking with?" Takemichi asked looking up at Chifuyu, though Chifuyu had already ducked his way behind the bookshelf peering out of the aisle at the current scenario.
• "What the hell are you doing?" He asked coming over.
• "That's Name's ex."
• Takemichi fell in line next to Chifuyu peering over his head, "I didn't know Name dated girls too.."
• "Yeah.. it's not a big deal.." Chifuyu said as the two of you giggled about something a couple feet away.
• "If it's not a big deal why are we hiding?"
• "Shh!" Chifuyu ducked back as you and your ex walked a little ways away. "Come on let's follow them."
• "Why don't we just go talk to them?" Takemichi followed reluctantly.
• "I don't want Name to think I came here because I was stalking-"
☆ Just as Chifuyu had made it to the next aisle he tripped over a snag in the carpet causing an oblivious Takemichi to bump into him. A loud oof from both of them alerting you and your ex of their presence.
• "Chi?" You called annndd now you were coming over. "Hey Chi, what are you doing here?"
• "This is my favorite manga place." Chifuyu answered with a grunt, stepping into the aisle.
• "I know.. I just thought you and Takemichi would be at your place."
• "What's going on?.. This is what you were busy with?" He gestured between the two of you.
• "Chi." You stepped forward and Chifuyu took one step back. "You know how me and, E/N are childhood best friends and how my grandmother is sick right now? My grandmother is basically a second mother to her so she invited me out to take my mind and her's off things, She suggested we come in here and I said ok but it wasn't right of me to not tell you, I'm sorry baby."
☆ Chifuyu looked between you and your ex his eyes slowly beginning to soften.
• "I'm not mad love. It was just weird you don't normally do underhanded things like this." He pulled you into his chest for a hug and you wrapped your arms around his waist.
• "You should come with us." E/N said pointing to Chifuyu and Takemichi. "Name won't stop talking about how wonderful you are as a boyfriend anyway."
☆ A bright pink flutters over both you and Chifuyu's cheeks as Takemichi snickers behind you both.
• "Next time you can bring Hina and we can make this into an outing." Chifuyu said, poking Takemichi in his side with his elbow before wrapping his arm around your midsection.
☆ You guys probably end up staying in the store for a couple more hours honestly because if there's anything you and Chifuyu have in common it's your love for manga.
🌟 Mitsuya
☆ He'd been running errands for his mother all morning so by the time he reached the supermarket he was completely exhausted. He pushed his shopping cart through the aisles with a long sigh, checking off items as he went.
☆ He rounded the last corner glad that his day was nearly over and already thinking about what he was going to prepare for dinner when the sound of your voice caught his attention.
☆ His first assumption was that he was so tired he was imagining it but the airy ring of your laugh soon validated his suspicions. You'd told him you were hanging out with friends today after all.
☆ He grabbed the last thing on his list deciding to go say hi. He wheeled the cart directly into the next aisle walking up as you and a person he didn't recognize were having a chat with an elderly woman.
• "You two are so cute together." The woman gestured with a small smile.
• "Oh.. no we're exes and friends." E/N explained
• "Aw I'm sorry things didn't work out for you two." The woman nodded
☆ You opened your mouth to respond but Mitsuya's warm gaze caught your attention first.
• "Suya, hey!" You greeted, walking over to greet your boyfriend with a small hug.
• "That's the actual boyfriend." Your ex explained to the woman.
• "This is the friend you told me about yesterday?" Mitsuya asked looking at your ex with a blank expression.
☆ The tension in the aisle could be sliced with a knife and the lady from before quickly walked away to another side of the store.
• "We are just friends now I promise. There's nothing going on between us and they're having a party tonight that's why we're here." You gestured to your ex who awkwardly waved back. "I was going to invite you later so that you could sneak out when Luna and Mana are asleep."
• Mitsuya nodded his expression softening as he reached up to cup your cheek, "I wish you had just explained that earlier, next time just tell me I won't be angry."
• "I will, I promise." You gave him a quick peck which he reciprocated. "I'm going to head with Suya but I'll see you at the party later?" You asked turning to your ex.
• "Yeah, I'll see you then." They replied as they left.
☆ And yeah sure Mitsuya said he was cool with it but you two ended up skipping the party and after dinner you both stayed in bed all night.. (Do with that what you will. 🙃)
🌟 Nahoya/Smiley
☆ You'd only been dating Nahoya for a month and everyday you two met up at the same place after school.
☆ Sometimes (like today) he'd grab Souya/Angry and head out to meet you. Today the three of you were just supposed to grab a quick bite to eat before heading to the Toman meeting.
☆ The second the two of them had stopped their bikes Souya pointed you out where you were holding a box and talking to some stranger.
• "Who's that guy?" Nahoya's grin tightened as he watched the way the guy yapped away while you just silently listened.
• "He looks like somebody." Souya pondered for a second before his gaze fell on his brother. "I recognize his face he was in some picture on Name's wall."
☆ Nahoya didn't wait another second to storm over to the situation Souya trotting along behind with his teeth grit.
• "What the hell is this?" Nahoya grunted though his smile never wavered. The indent of anger extremely noticeable on his forehead.
• "Hoya, this is E/N he-"
• "E/N as in your ex?" Souya chimed up before you could finish.
• "You invited your ex here when you knew I was coming? What kind of shit are you pulling here Name?"
☆ His smile began to dip at the edges but it was obvious he was trying to keep up his natural facade. His fists clenching at his side, book bag carefully slipped into Souya's arms behind him.
• "I just needed my stuff back, I promise." You tried to explain, shaking the box in your possession for Nahoya to see.
• "I didn't mean to intrude on your-"
• "You shut the fuck up!"
• "Hoya!"
• "So you thought you should invite him on our date? Are you trying to piss me off?"
• You stomped your foot exasperation slowly starting to take over in your face and tone. "Hoya, I didn't invite him! I told him I was here and he's gonna be on vacation for three weeks but I needed my camera back." You hold up the camera that you'd fished from the box, Desperation thick in your voice. "So he decided to drop my stuff off with me and you just happened to get here before he could leave." You rest your fingertips on the bridge of your nose. Glad for the silence that soon arises.
• "I should go." Your ex whispers doing a little scoot around Nahoya who still hadn't completely cooled off.
• "Hey, stop it." Nahoya grips your chin pulling your shaky form closer to himself. "You should've just asked me to get your shit for you."
• You muster a little giggle, sniffling and wiping your face with the back of your hand. "You would've kicked his ass then brought me my stuff."
• "He would've deserved it."
☆ You pull Nahoya closer though he's still a little hesitant to return your affection.
• "Let me make it up to you please? You and Souya." You turn to Souya who's still holding both his and Nahoya's backpacks.
• "You're paying for lunch today." Nahoya replies pulling you into his side. He lowers his voice leaning into your ear as Souya walks ahead to his bike. "And if I ever see that jackass again I'll break his jaw."
🌟 Kazutora
☆ Baji and him had spent the day riding their motorcycles until they decided to take a break not too far away from the shrine where Toman meetings were always held.
☆ They soon found themselves parking their bikes and skipping stones by the riverbed.
• "So, why is it that you're hanging out with me instead of your partner today?" Baji asked as his stone plopped into the water.
• "They said they had something going on." Kazutora replied
• "If I was with someone that gorgeous I'd be willing to go with them but whatever."
• "Maybe you should have someone before you start dishing out relationship advice."
☆ Baji grinned wide throwing a soft punch which Kazutora caught with a snicker pretending to right hook him. It soon lead into a chase with Baji dodging all of Kazutora's playful jabs walking backwards and making sound effects to go along with each swipe of his fists.
☆ Baji grabbed both of Kazutora's fists pushing him back until he nearly tumbled onto his ass. His laugh unbridled in its volume.
• "Come here Kazutora I'll show you how to throw a real punch."
• "What the fuck.." Kazutora's gaze followed two people walking along the path that went just overhead.
☆ Baji's head whipped around to track Kazutora's gaze stopping on the two people walking side by side almost out of sight at this point.
• "Is that-" Kazutora was nearly gone by the time Baji had processed the words. "Hey!" He called out running to catch up but Kazutora had already sprinted to the top of the bank, jogging along to catch up to the people they'd spotted.
• "Name!" His voice boomed closing the distance scarily quick.
☆ You'd stopped dead in your tracks, turning to face the chilling look in your boyfriend's eyes as he stood before you. Baji right behind and practically out of breath.
• "Who is that?" Kazutora pointed
• "Tora.. baby don't freak out.."
☆ His earring clinked against his face as he stared into your eyes.
• "Are you leaving me now? Is that it?"
• "Tora!" You huff, putting your hands out.
• "Kazutora.." Baji called out already sensing the weight of the situation.
• "She's my ex but listen-"
• "So you are cheating on me.." Kazutora's jaw locks and when you reach out for his sleeves with pleas of his name he just slaps your arms away.
☆ When he leaves he runs for his bike. His leg anchored over the side already gripping the handle bars tightly when Baji's loud scream of his name rips through the air.
☆ He's got his bike out of park but just as he starts to drive away you dash out from nowhere and yank his handle bar.
• "Dammit Tora listen to me!!" You beg, he can clearly see the beginnings of tears stinging the corners of your eyes as you hold onto the hand still clutching his handlebars.
• "What could you possibly say? That it didn't mean anything? That you love me?!"
• "Yes! I do love you! You mean everything to me! I needed to be with E/N today because her mom went missing a couple days ago! The woman that took me in and loved me all my life is out there somewhere and no one knows anything about it so dammit Kazutora if you love me even half as much as I love you, don't leave me right now!"
☆ You latched onto his jacket letting your loud sobs fill the now quiet air.
• "You told me.. You love me.." His whispered tone barely reaches your ears as you continue to choke on your own tears.
• "I.. love you.. Tora.." You hiccuped
☆ His arms wrapped gently around your waist, face deep in the crook of your neck as you slowly began to relax.
• "I'm sorry." You felt him tremble as he held you closer than he ever had before. "I love you.." He reciprocated. "I'm here.."
🌟 Souya/Angry
☆ Souya tended to listen more than you realized. Like when you go on and on about a band you absolutely adore to the point where he stays up until almost 12 am to snag tickets for the two of you to go see them on the weekend. And this was that weekend.
☆ He'd been nearly bursting with excitement over it and now he could finally surprise you with the news after holding it in for a solid week.
☆ He parked his bike across the street from your house, reaching into his jacket pocket for the umpteenth time to check that both tickets were there. After a few more minutes of preparing, blowing into his hand to check his breath, smoothing his sweaty hands over his jacket. He rung your doorbell. The heel of his toe tapping against the floor as he waited for you to answer.
☆ When the door finally opened a person much taller than Souya answered.
• "Yup." The person pursed their lips one hand on the tool belt wrapped around their waist. For a second Souya pondered if he'd somehow rung the wrong doorbell until he looked at the number in plain view embellished on your door front.
• "Who are you?" It definitely came off more aggressive thanks to Angry's naturally violent resting face.
☆ Before the person could answer you came bounding down the stairs, pulling the door open wider.
• "Why the hell would you answer my door?" You spit at the person standing beside you as you pull your boyfriend inside, shutting the door behind him.
• "I think you mean thank you."
• "Fuck off." You tell the person who was already walking back to the kitchen.
☆ The naturally angry imprint on Souya's face seems to deepen as he makes eye contact with you.
• "I wish you had called." You sighed, tugging Souya into the living room by his jacket sleeves.
• "Who the hell is that?"
• "You remember how I said my ex is in the remodeling business.."
• "That's your ex?"
• "Yes but listen! If I work with him I can get a discount, I just want that wall taken out to open up the space a bit more." You gesture to the kitchen where your ex is currently examining the wall. "I would've told you sooner but between my friend coaxing me into doing this remodel and that drunk night with you and Nahoya it was hard to find time."
☆ Souya dipped his hands into his pockets, staring blankly into the distance. His brow furrowed deeper than normal and his foot tapped against the hardwood.
• "If you're uncomfortable with this I'll get someone else.."
• "Get someone else."
• "Wait before you answer." You scoot closer to your still ticked boyfriend and he makes eye contact with you again. "This kind of remodel normally costs way more than the bargain I'm getting with them."
☆ Souya blinked blankly at you.
• "Sou plllleeeeaaasssee, you can be here whenever they are." You gesture to the kitchen.
• "No I can't I have a job."
• "Fine.. I'll call you the entire time." He sighed with a roll of his eyes. And you rubbed both his arms with a long groan of his name. "How about this, I bring you and them to dinner. Once you see how disinterested I am you might be more for it."
• "Not worried about you, I'm worried about them." His forehead rubbed against yours and you giggled.
• "I promise I only love you."
• "Would you love me more if I got tickets to your favorite band for today?"
• "I'm never leaving you." You proclaim wrapping your arms tightly around Souya's midsection. "That's a proposal by the way we're engaged now. I don't make the rules."
• "E/N I'm engaged now!" You yell towards the kitchen.
• "I heard, congrats!" They yelled back
☆ Souya just scoffed but his cheeks bloomed into the deepest shade of red as he walked upstairs with you to your bedroom to help you pick out an outfit for the concert.

💨 air moons💨
If the Moon is in Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius, one adjusts oneself to the inflow of life experience by first assuming an intellectual detachment to assess things objectively through logic, or to test what is at hand using familiar concepts or theories. This tendency can of course lead to too much analysis, and a lack of clear decisiveness; but the potential for constructive and intelligent forethought can be valuable, and it is a quality often lacking in those with Water or Fire Moons.
gemini moon
If you multiply the fluctuations of the constantly changing Moon by the eternal changeability of Gemini, you arrive at some inkling of this Moon sign. It is the very opposite of stable and predictable. The strength of Gemini Moon is the quickness with which they react to input and to other people, and the rapid connections they can make with many ideas and possibilities. They adapt quickly to changes and their perceptions are often intriguing, motivated as they are by endless curiosity. In fact, they constantly need a variety of mental stimuli to keep them feeling alive and developing. The major problem for these folks, and for those who try to relate to them intimately, is that they never seem to know who they are for very long. They scatter their sense of identity and inner security along with their diffuse concentration. Emotions are a rather foreign territory for those with Gemini Moon and somewhat baffling for their illogical and fluctuating nature. They therefore need to communicate verbally about their emotional life to find some mental clarity about their irrational and changeable feelings (although sometimes talking endlessly and tiresomely with no resulting clarity). In short, they need to verbalize their emotions in order to feel connected with them. And, in close relationships, these glib and flirtatious individuals often continually experiment with their feelings, first expressing one thing and then another—to the profound dismay and frustration of their would-be partner—as if their chronic inconsistency and changeability have no impact on the other person.
This Moon sign is perhaps more averse to commitment than any other, and their emotional superficiality does not help the situation. There is a pitiful lack of touch with the subconscious, and although there is endless logical analysis of motives and rational examination, there is no change. This is only one manifestation of the dual-mindedness of this Moon sign, wherein one part of the mind does not know what the other part is doing or thinking. Contradictory reactions (even simultaneously) and unfocused thoughts and emotions often lead those with Gemini Moon to spread themselves too thin.
Gemini Moon desperately needs mental variety and learning of all kinds. But the primary challenge to them as they grow through life is confronting this question: With all these ideas and “facts,” do I have any depth of real knowledge, and with all this learning, have I gained any understanding? At their best, Gemini Moon people are witty and amazingly skilled in a vast number of areas, and they also have a lively communication style with a diverse array of people. At their worst, they seem possessed by—and thus at the mercy of—their own thoughts, leaving them endlessly perplexed and confused. They are also sometimes so subjective that they will not really even notice the other person with whom they are so actively talking and “communicating.” Grant Lewi also wrote perceptively about the intellectual pride of Gemini Moon:
“The picture of yourself that pleases you best is that you are an exceptional intellect to which the world listens to thankfully. To be as intellectual as you would like to be is a big order and may take more application than you are willing to put on it. Cleverness pleases you better than profundity. You would rather be funny than fair, exciting than stable, provocative than studious.”
Those with Moon in Gemini are often very clever, and they like to emphasize it, but their overly active minds, and their attempts to figure everything out through intellectual theories, can make them chronically unhappy. Despite the intellectual pride referred to earlier, their self-image is unstable, perhaps most of all because Gemini often finds it difficult to believe in anything. There is often therefore a confused self-image—and thus sometimes also an unclear sexual identity.
Women with Moon in Gemini are very talkative, very social, project a level of nervous energy in everyday life. Being around anybody with Moon in Gemini, there is a highly energy-charged atmosphere. The men share these traits with the women but also seem to be more like the types that “get around,” who are always on the go, doing something, giving somebody a hand. There’s a lot of versatility in both sexes, interested in many kinds of people and activities.
Emotional reactions are light-hearted, cool and startlingly versatile. Feelings flit like butterflies and are just about as hard to catch. To some, all the colour and brightness is irresistible. To others, the display is much too hollow, too unemotional, too fickle.
libra moon
Like Gemini Moon in the tendency toward indecision, but not nearly so scattered, this Moon sign weighs everything in their minds before reacting to any experience. One can get a feeling for this Moon sign by imagining a combination of the fluctuating Moon and the Libra symbol of the “scales of justice,” which oscillate up and down, continually adjusting even if a feather’s weight is added to one scale. Libra Moon often balances off whatever interpersonal input they receive, usually doing so gently. They take personal relationships seriously and pride themselves on fairness and being able to see the other person’s point of view. This tendency of putting themselves in the other’s situation, more marked in Libra than in any other zodiac sign, can be carried so far as to see them lean over backwards to please the other person—often even ignoring their own interests. Thei need to beliked that motivates much of their person-to-person behavior, to where it can undermine their highly valued objectivity. The desire to avoid unpleasantness can lead to relatively superficial, placating responses that may not be completely sincere—occasionally verging on flattery. They easily lose themselves in the other’s energy field and become confused about where they end and the other begins. Their spontaneous reactions are unconsciously modified by how the person they are interacting with is reacting!
There are, however, people with an imbalanced Libra Moon who exemplify one of two extreme modes of expression: either those with the tendency to please others and avoid any appearance of disagreement even to the extent of hypocrisy; or the occasional unpleasant ones who make it a point to be especially irritating and aggressive, as if to show you they don’t care what you think. In the first group, despite the powerful urge to play nice and pretend kindness, they seem almost unconscious of other people’s real thoughts and feelings. And of course, the second group would never in any situation bother in the slightest with anyone else’s thoughts or feelings. With either extreme type of Libra Moon personality, there is an inability to relate deeply and authentically.”
In both of the “imbalanced” types of Libra Moon just mentioned, the result can be a rather lonely life, something that is difficult and depressing for anyone with an emphasis on Libra, the sign of partnership par excellence. Libra Moon folks need sharing of ideas and idealism in life, and without that dynamic interchange and companionship, they do not feel secure or fulfilled. One sometimes wonders if there is deep down a profound fear of personal intimacy with some of these people, the emotional reactions often being so inhibited, regulated, and unspontaneous. One could easily interpret the motivation of the aggressive group mentioned above as a way of guaranteeing that no one likes them, thus making a close relationship, wherein they would have to give of themselves honestly and openly, completely impossible. This type of Libra Moon is completely self-centered and insensitive to others, and very exclusive in their views of other people and in their social lifestyle. They are also extremely opinionated. Although even the more pleasant and considerate Libra Moon folks can be very opinionated (even though they rarely acknowledge their true views in case it would cause disharmony), the irritating type of this lunar position is usually rigidly opinionated in a way that makes true communication a hopeless impossibility. People with this Moon sign often seem to lack intellectual confidence and thus seem unable to be comfortable with the natural Libran ambivalence toward important ideas. They then retreat into a safe opinion that does not have to be questioned or shared. The truly balanced Libra Moon personality can readily handle many sides of any issue or concept with impartiality.
aquarius moon
Those born with the Moon in Aquarius are the ultimate nonconformists. They instinctively react to most experiences in an unpredictable, often eccentric way. They will respond in a rather contrary way if you say, do, or expect anything that is socially or intellectually conventional. Independence is their primary guiding principle, and they pride themselves on their objectivity and intellectual integrity. In many areas of life, they are extremely experimental, and they rarely take anyone’s word for “truth” or as an ultimate authority—a quality that does not endear them to most of their bosses, supervisors, or even close friends, who may be far more knowledgeable in a certain field. Aquarius is after all the sign of the truth seeker; and it is the most scientific sign of the zodiac, in the true experimental sense of the word.
These guys feel most secure when exercising complete personal freedom of ideas, self-expression, and innovation. They need freedom like they need air, and they habitually rebel against too much restraint or anyone who tries to control them. Periodic radical life changes (social, geographic, domestic, or intellectual) provide some of this desperately needed personal space, rejuvenating and nourishing them, even though it may be difficult for themselves or their partners to endure. They have a rather odd emotional nature that infuriates and frustrates more conventional, predictable people, and this leads to their reacting eccentrically to many situations. The fact is, although they seem coldly mental, aloof, and sometimes even without normal human feelings, their emotional pressure builds up over time (since they find it impossible to keep in tune with those bothersome and murky passions and embarrassing needs); and it eventually explodes in impulsive, radical actions, or in sudden changes of plans or viewpoints. More than any other, Aquarius is a sign of extremism.
This Moon sign must be socially involved either directly with many people (such as in teaching or organizing conferences) or through publishing, social activism, or politics. They have an emotional need to affect large groups of people. Their humane understanding of broad human and social needs is actually much more perceptive than is their understanding of the needs of individuals. In fact, they often like studying entire societies or languages or other global issues, and the social sciences are frequently fields of interest for them. Aquarius Moon people identify with a society or with humanity as a whole. Their impersonal approach often elicits criticism from others about their aloofness and “coldness,” but in fact that very detachment enables them to respond to the emotional crises of others by remaining objective and staying above the turbulent and confusing emotional level. They are great friends and need to have friends that they would do anything for. You can tell them anything, and they’ll understand. They are utterly trustworthy, reasonable, and straightforward.… You discover how irrationally loyal these folks can be. Cool and detached they may seem, but they stick like glue to the people they love and respect. They stay in situations long past what others could handle and put up with.…
In fact, Aquarius Moon people rarely find their sense of security with family or physical relatives. They feel especially uncomfortable with such groups and the obligations and social protocols involved. They always seem to feel dissatisfied with their parents’ lifestyle and lack of communication, and sometimes that feeling of dissatisfaction extends to the country or culture of their youth. Therefore, they not only feel the need to detach themselves from the “oppressive” family, parental, and cultural influences, but they also sometimes extrapolate their dissatisfaction onto all of society and often expound many types of social protest. Good examples are John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, and Lady Diana. A streak of rebelliousness thus pervades their memory of childhood and parental influences, and this affects their lifelong behavior in society. They insist on freedom from social obligations and conventional values.
The automatic contrary streak I mention above manifests in interpersonal reactions, in ways of thinking and discussing ideas, and in lifestyle. But it is the emotional contrariness and independence that sometimes cause them difficulty in relationships through others’ resentment or feelings of alienation. There is often an aloofness toward the sensitivities of others. Aquarius Moon folks prefer to maintain their stable focus and broad perspective than to be drawn into what appears to them the endlessly confusing morass of emotions that many people would like them to indulge in.
A dislike of routine and a strong need to prove self-sufficiency. A thread of separateness in relationships always seems present, as does unconventionality. Security with excitement is a major hard-to-achieve goal in life; needs constant stimulation within a fixed environment. I’ve had several close relationships with Moon in Aquarius individuals and none of them put any pressure on me to be any different than I am; they either accept or reject people but they rarely put anybody on the spot. I find Moon in Aquarius individuals to be straightforward once they’ve opened up. I always find myself confused in trying to figure out the independent yet sentimental nature of the Moon in Aquarius.
Both sexes can fixate for quite a period (sometimes days) on some extreme mood—either negative or unshakably upbeat. But the men were usually far less analytical about their current emotional state. In fact, whereas men with Aquarius Moon are usually seen to have remarkably steady moods, perhaps too steady in the view of many people who would like them to be more obviously responsive on a feeling level, women with Aquarius Moon seem to focus on their emotions and moods and then act them out in quite an extreme way.
These people are very detached in daily life!! You can never tell what they are thinking or feeling, often they seem not to be listening at all! They dislike hassles and can withdraw at the drop of a hat, becoming very hard to reach or read. They are very matter-of-fact, very independent, self-assured when they do respond. They usually have something “different” about their lifestyles or interests. They usually have a very liberated sex life, experimental and blunt towards it.

a deadly education is tone-deaf at best and racist at worse; not the cure to jkr anyone was hoping for
Harry Potter’s massive cultural impact means that we haven’t seen the last of magic schools set in Britain, and we probably won’t for a long while. In some ways, the fantasy genre’s response to Rowling’s work is tiresome. In others, it’s exciting—because a generation of readers and writers have grown up to bring their own perspective to the limits of Rowling’s work and push it beyond the limits of its author. However, if you’re looking for a transgressive magic academy book that interrogates the limited morality, inclusivity, and perspective of Harry Potter, you should put Naomi Novik’s A Deadly Education back on the shelf and keep looking.
A Deadly Education tells the story of Galadriel “El” Higgins, a half-British half-Indian sorcerer attending a magic school where the consequences of any mistake might mean sudden death. El is a loner by nature and circumstance, but walking alone in the halls of Scholomance might mean being attacked and devoured by one of the school’s monsters. This puts El on a crash course with Orion Lake, the shining hero of her year who takes it upon himself to save the lives of his fellow students, including a less-than-grateful El.
The set up honestly sounds pretty good—a prickly protagonist, a heroic rival-slash-love interest, a deadly setting, and the potential for deep lore in magic and world-building. Unfortunately, not only does Novik fail to deliver on any of the premises’ strengths, she also chooses to weigh her narrative down with reductive, tone-deaf, and downright racist details.
El’s particular class of magic relies on language. El speaks English and Marathi, and picks up Sanskrit, Hindi, Latin and Old English in her study of language-based spells. It’s a little uncomfortable that Novik lumps dead and defunct languages like Latin and Old English together with actively spoken ones like Mandarin, Hindi, and Spanish, but that isn’t where Novik’s faux paus end. El approaches languages like computer programs to be downloaded onto her hard drive. Despite languages being the basis of her magic, she has no personal connections to the ones she’s speaking. She views other students and their languages the same way, identifying groups of students as “the Mandarin speakers”, “the Arabic speakers,” etc. Novik seems clueless about the relationships between the languages she’s building her world’s magic around, putting Sanskrit tombs in Baghdad and declaring that the Scholomance has a library aisle containing all of India’s languages. (About 800 individual languages are spoken in India, fyi.)
This clinical approach to diversity extends from language into character. El doesn’t try to make many friends, and honestly it’s not hard to see her classmates don’t try to befriend her, either. She doesn’t describe her classmates as people—she describes them as assets. And while that could be explained away by the premise that half her classmates won’t make it out of school alive, and El needs allies more than friends to survive, it doesn’t make it any better when El refers to others exclusively by the language knowledge they offer her. A character named Ibrahim has no personality or backstory, but he conveniently pops up when El needs someone who knows Arabic. A character named Kaito is thoughtlessly grouped in with the Mandarin speakers. An Argentine character exclaims in Spanish when she’s excited or relieved. There’s an uncomfortable distinction between the languages that get written out in the text—Spanish, French—and the ones that get narrated away—a character exclaims in Mandarin.
Novik goes out of her way to let us know that the population of Scholomance is diverse. There’s a group of South and West African students (only one of whom is named, and none of whom are important). There’s a “civilized” enclave of magicians in Toronto who value family and human life more than other groups. One character might graduate and go to Bangkok, but he’s looking to secure himself a place in Shanghai instead. Naomi Novik really knows the names of cities on at least four continents, and she’s not about to let you forget it!
But aside from names, languages, and cities, Novik has given no thought to what diversity means, or who these characters are if they come from diverse backgrounds. El calls on “Mandarin-speaker,” Yi Liu, exclusively by the name Liu. Is Liu meant to be this character’s first name? Or her surname? El doesn’t call anyone else by surname, but Liu is a Chinese surname, one of the most common in the world. El’s father is a Marathi-speaker from Mumbai, but El has no personal connection to Indian culture. Her father’s family prophesied that El would be a destroyer, and other than that rejection El has nothing to say about India or half of her culture. She refers to her Indian relatives in clinical English descriptors (my father’s mother, my great-grandmother, my uncles), even though she is purportedly fluent in Marathi and should know words like Panaji, Aaji and Kaka. El says that her Indian family is from an old Hindu enclave, and yet they have djinn as servants. (Djinn aren’t a typical part of Hindu cosmology, though they are a significant part of Islamic texts.)
Making El biracial seems like an afterthought, not something that affects her character in any way. It just creates some truly unfortunate optics, like when El goes on a three-paragraph description of how unnecessary she finds showers and how dirty she is at any given time. El’s father died making sure her pregnant mother (and therefore, El herself) would live, and yet El barely thinks about him. His name is mentioned once in the entire book. El complains that (presumably white) British people “assume she speaks Hindi” or call her the color of weak tea. But her Indian heritage is a veneer placed on top of a character who is otherwise just a default white protagonist.
All this adds up to a character (and a world), that reads as nothing so much as colonial. El feasts on the languages of others for her own edification, power, and survival, but she doesn’t see her classmates as people, and she doesn’t see language as a living thing related to real cultures. And I’m given to believe that Naomi Novik holds the same views, what with how she throws around the word “mana” as part of her world-building without considering its roots and real-life meaning to Polynesian and Melanesian peoples.
However, nothing makes the cultural tone-deafness of this book more evident than this passage:
Dreadlocks are unfortunately not a great idea thanks to lockleeches, which you can probably imagine, but in case you need help, the adult spindly thing comes quietly down at night and pokes an ovipositor into any big clumps of hair, lays an egg inside, and creeps away. A little while later the leech hatches inside its comfy nest, attaches itself to your scalp almost unnoticeably, and starts very gently sucking up your blood and mana while infiltrating further. If you don’t get it out within a week or two, it usually manages to work its way inside the skull, and you’ve got a window of a few days after that before you stop being able to move. On the bright side, something else usually finishes you off quickly at that point.
El’s pithy commentary about imminent death aside, I have a hard time reading anything but casual and thoughtless racism from this passage. The nefarious and deliberate myth of dreadlocks being unhygienic (and by extension, Black people being endemically dirty) is pervasive to this day. And Naomi Novik decides to include this passage in a book that has no major Black characters, in which dreadlocks never even come up in any meaningful way, just to remind us that in this magic world of hers, dreadlocks are dirty! Monster insects nest in them! The consequences are death! There was no good reason to include this passage, and all it does is draw on inaccurate and racist myths and perpetuate them into a world where anti-Black racism is never contended with. Although, I suppose, why would it? El never has need of any languages from the West or South Africans.
A Deadly Education bills itself as a subversive, even feminist, response to Harry Potter. But just like J. K. Rowling, Naomi Novik is a white author who uses other cultures thoughtlessly to build her own magic world. Other cultures and peoples exist, but only to serve the aims and needs of white (or mostly white-coded) characters. Novik has no empathy, no care and apparently no ability to Google anything about the cultures she wants to draw on. And the result isn’t just insulting—it’s boring. The world-building in this book is as dry and dusty as any history written by 19th century British colonizers.
Using some foreign names and making your protagonist biracial does not shield your work from racism. It does open you up to more pitfalls in depicting other peoples and cultures, if you don’t care to look out for them.
It would be nice to close by saying that despite its flaws, A Deadly Education is an enjoyable book. But it isn’t. It’s just a badly-researched, emotionless story told by rote.

Review Everything 6 - Arcane
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My experience of League of Legends is limited to one LAN party at a friend’s house where I tried the game with a group of my friends and a subsequent basement video game party where I tried the game a second time on my own.
I wasn’t a fan.
Outside of TF2 which I almost exclusively played on Mute and Overwatch which I played almost exclusively with no mic, I have never been a fan of video games where you have to talk to the other players with your voice. Getting screamed at, insulted, and sexually harassed aren’t my idea of a fun time. So when I was introduced to the screaming chaos that was a LoL lobby I noped the fuck out pretty quickly.
All this to say I give exactly zero shits about this franchise outside of this show.
Which I kind of think was the perfect way to watch it. I had zero hangups about the way the adaptation was handled because I don’t care about LoL at all, so I got to enjoy this as just a standalone cartoon with no fandom baggage.
I really, really enjoyed Arcane. I’m not sure what the technical term for this kind of animation is, the hybrid of 2D and 3D style popularized by Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, but I’m very excited to see it grow and evolve, and this particular iteration of is was perfect for the story being told. I mean, just the fact that every single character had their own body type and facial structure was really impressive, it’s not the kind of thing I expected from an animated video game adaptation.
I’m honestly struggling to come up with things I didn’t like about the show. It’s so well animated, the story so tight and neat, the setting to intriguing, the worldbuilding so well integrated, there’s a lot to love about Arcane.
If I had to pick one thing I didn’t like about Arcane it would be this: Jinx is maybe my least favorite character in anything I've seen this year. But that's because I find the hot and crazy child woman trope to be tiresome and not engaging, not because she's necessarily written badly. Any other negative things I would have to say would be similarly nitpicky.
Tumblr media
Like, this was a pretty constant distraction for me throughout the show but it was more funny than anything else.
In Summary: I really enjoyed Arcane for its Worldbuilding, story, and most of its characters, and am looking forward to a second season. It’s unfortunate that one of the main characters is a trope I hate, but that would be like complaining about Batman being in a Batman movie. You can gripe all you want but you had to know it was gonna be that way going in. The rest of the show makes up for that one character for me.
Overall: 8/10

Impressions of AGoT
I just finished reading A Game of Thrones, the first book of A Song of Ice and Fire series. I'm writing down some quick thoughts on it, intending to gather the differences and similarities of the plot and the characters compared to those of the show. This is mostly for my attempts to speculate how similar or not the ending Martin dreamt is to the D&D's one. It's good for any of you who haven't read the books yet but are interested in it.
The POV characters were the worst possible for me. You get all the Starks but Robb and Rickon, including Catelyn and Jon, and only Tyrion and Deanerys out of everyone else. A little bit of a yawnfest for me personally.
I like the way GRRM writes overall but, you know, I wouldn’t die for his writing style. I’m mentioning this because George criticized JK Rowling’s books in the past and, well no George, you’re not on the level of criticizing other renowned authors yet.
For real, his sex paragraphs are cringy. Thank god there are not as many as in the show.
This must have been one of the most densely structured plots I’ve read, meaning there’s literally no filler paragraph, let alone chapter. George only writes what is essential in order to push the plot forward. So far at least. I both like and dislike that, if I’m making any sense.
I like the concept of the PoV chapters although jumping from one character and one sublot to another in every chapter without connection can get tedious and confusing at times.
The first series did one hell of a job at adapting AGoT. You almost don't need to read the book because nearly everything is exactly the same. Only in the last chapters I started noticing minor differentiations.
One basic difference between book and show is that, listen, George obviously cares for the themes of prophecies and omens and dreams and God signs and religions. They are in most pages of the book and in my opinion they made for the most interesting reading, perhaps because I already knew everything else.
Now that I know, the fact that Jon is Lyanna and Rhaegar's son was freaking obvious throughout the book . It seems D&D were not geniuses for answering George's question about Jon’s parentage correctly. Maybe it would take me longer to suspect it had I not watched the show beforehand but still. Very easy.
Book Ned and Catelyn are very close to the show's, only much younger. Their obsession with honour (while great of course) makes them tiresome characters. Ned repeats all the time what is right or should be done. They are the same but somehow more boring than the show characters. Ned is also OBSESSED with Jaime, whom he mentions in like every paragraph and hates him like he would hate a giant muddy worm lying in his bathtub.
Sorry to say that but Arya is super boring so far. Her chapters had the least symbolic meanings and she's more of a naive child in the book. Maisie gave her swag. They also don't look much alike.
Sansa is the most shallow and annoying little bitch you can imagine until her last couple of chapters. She is emotionless, cares about nobody except boys and men whom she values exclusively based on looks. If you hated early show!Sansa, well you should see book Sansa! In the last two chapters that admirable almost frightening inner strength of hers starts shining.
Book!Jon is on the verge of crying and throwing a tandrum in nearly all his chapters. Actually Kit Harrington did a good job because Jon is always sulky and brooding. Kit made book Jon a little more mature which was a welcome change. Aside from the true parentage implication, the book does not indicate he is an important or fateful character until his last chapters, where it is only hinted.
Bran is truly the character who seems to have fate's mark on him but all this comes from his dreams and a few thoughts of his climbing skills. Otherwise he is just a boy of his age.
Book!Tyrion is almost the same with show!Tyrion but lacks Peter's charisma. He is not as likeable as show!Tyrion without doing anything worse than his TV version though so far. He is extremely selfish which however makes sense with the family he's raised in. It's openly discussed that he might not be Tywin's true son.
Show!Deanerys is one of the most boring characters for me yet I found her book chapters increasingly interesting. She starts as a naive kid and in my opinion ends up a disturbed kid already by the end of the first book. With what she's been through it makes sense. I dislike that George gives her attributes of a fully grown woman, even though she is only thirteen. All the ordeal with the bloodmaegi, Drogo's and her son's death and the birth of the dragons is chilling. However, her troubled mind is much more obvious than in the show. It's like she progressively takes Viserys' place after his death. Her last chapters are easily the best part of the book.
Book!Tywin is still Charles Dance, only painted gold apparently.
Book!Cersei is less likeable than show!Cersei, can you believe? She doesn’t seem to be as clever either. She also must look quite different than Lena’s Cersei. Cersei does not appear often.
Jaime... This is the funniest thing about the book. First of all, Jaime is basically not in the book. He makes it to like three - four appearances at most. Meanwhile, every other page mentions him at least once. Everyone’s like omg Jaime Lannister the most terrifying warrior ever the strongest man in the universe the KINGSLSAYER (x 47648264 times) the golden lion etc.......... and then Jaime appears 4 times and just embarrasses himself in front of the whole realm. Honestly, I’d say being caught having sex with his sister by his host’s son is nowhere near the only embarrassing thing that happens to him. He’s an ultimate failure but one that shines unrealistically golden and glimmers silver in the night. Yep, that’s Jaime Lannister. Wtf George. Honestly, Jaime’s failures and inadequacy compared to the way he’s described by other characters is ridiculous and really funny. I can’t wait to see how George turns this around in the next books. Despite that, the positive thing is that apparently George wants the readers to expect things from Jaime, despite crushing their expectations so many times in this book. He also has a shitload of subtextual symbolic implications about him, even though he appears for so little.
P.S  People “break fast” like you wouldn’t believe

A (very lengthy) Book Review: 4/5 Stars (or glitzy fucking rubies or whatever)
Lev Grossman, huh? ...This fuckin' guy... You got me torn, Lev! What the hell am I suppose to do here? Praise you for your often brilliant prose? Hound you for your snobbish elite-society references no white-or-blue-collar human being has any clue to what you're going on about? Generally appreciate the magnificent flow of your sentences? Curse you for making me wait 250 pages for any goddamn significant plot development? (lofl...) Ahhhh, this fucking guy, right? Honestly: absolutely beautiful writing; very inspiring stuff, if not obnoxious af with the ritzy, pinky-in-the-air, my-shit-smells-like-sophistication-and-bleached-anus crap. I suppose it's nice to get a taste of what rich assholes would call "culture" without having to smell their frilly fragrances and exotic entrées firsthand. And there was some pretty funny, down-to-earth humor slipped into the dialog.
I'm not gonna lie - I already bought the next book. I'm a student of writing and this fucker can sculpt an elegant sentence. Although I don't feel like I've necessarily learned anything from his prose, I do so appreciate it.
Gripes? Waaaaaay too much narration. I felt like 80% of the book was the narrator telling us what happened as opposed to us actually participating in the happenings, being apart of them as they unfold. A lot of this has to do with him being stingy on the dialog, but it was also the WAY he told the story that made me feel more like I was reading a diary instead of taking part in an adventure. (It's not first person, it's third, but the analogy stands.) Also - and this is saying a lot coming from a guy who has himself been accused of reaching for the thesaurus too often (I love me some unique and abstract words) - other than the snobby lifestyle crap, I still felt like there were a little too many uncommon words. I have no problem with two or three a page, but but two or three a paragraph is pushing it. It wasn't like this throughout, of course, but often enough to where it got a little tiresome in parts for me. Admittedly, I'm undereducated, so this may not be a problem for anyone else. (And it wasn't a problem for me, just a nuisance.)
One thing I DID take away from this book (learn from, I mean) was this: Sometimes shit doesn't workout. And I mean that in a "my character's going on an amazing adventure unlike any other!" way, in that, that doesn't always have to be the case. That never would have occurred to me. [SPOILER ALERT: Skip this part of the review if you haven't read the book.] There was that part in the story where Quinton decides to use magic to go to the moon for a class project, right? Well, he didn't make it, remember? He failed and turned back, and this (from a storyteller's perspective) blew me away because I never would have done that. I would have went off on a crazy tangent and had him have a little side-adventure that was fantastical and\or terrifying. I would have had him make it there and discover something world changing, or had him have some sort of world changing discovery in between, seeing something alive in the solar winds, or coming across the floating corpse of an unsuited Aztec or something. But he didn't make it? He failed? -insert mind-blown emoji here- [END SPOILER] There was something very human about that failure that made the character much more real, and it was a good lesson in writing to come across. ...Personally? I think a fantasy should be as far away from reality as you can get it without it being absurd, unless the absurd is hilarious and all part of the fun. That down-to-earth emo shit isn't my style, BUT...it was powerful. So...in the end I gave this novel the four stars I believe it deserves, despite my gripes, nearly exclusively for the craft, but also because of the realism. Contemporary fantasy and realism together made for a unique combo and I liked it. I just hope I don't have to wait another couple hundred pages for the the plot to interest me in The Magician King. -cc

(I'm the pervious poor anon lol) also....I was thinking about those bt21 plushies and how expensive they were .... like really......I seriously feel like the only way I can be an avid and great fan is if I have a lot of money. I feel so excluded. And I know I shouldn't be so dramatic about it or anything but I can't imagine how bad other people must feel who are also fans of bts with little money as well.
yeah i know, like the merchandise is cute but when you take a step back and think about it, what is it made for, really? just to make money, and since the end goal is for these things to sell, that automatically excludes people that can’t afford it. bighit also aims to increase demand by artificially limiting stock, which is also kinda icky…honestly i’ve always had this issue with bighit because they get increasingly more exclusionary when it comes to money, it’s one of the reasons i’m not super into the fancafe and them selling exclusivity alone, remember when bighit made us pay so we can watch the stream celebrating THEIR ANNIVERSARY even? lol…bighit just kind of.. they don’t want to just do well, they want ALL the money, as much as possible! and you can even see it with how they make the boys take like, literally any advertising deal, whatever the product is just have the boys hold it and get some money, they’re gonna be promoting a bank, dunking donuts, and if you put it in a list…promoted mcdolands even, a duty free operator, phone operators, fried chicken, cosmetics brand, clothes brands, school uniforms, messaging clients, a terrible movie, a whole city, and god knows what else… but well, that’s what a company does, so i shouldn’t be mad, but it’s hard when they try to act like they are so fan friendly and how bts have personal integrity in the company, but when you look at the reality… yeah… i love the boys but i’ll never get why people even like bighit much, they treat the boys alright, but to fans? they are just a greedy company and the fans to them are only ATMs and nothing more… so yes it sucks, but please don’t feel bad about it, you are more than an ATM, you have more to offer as a fan, don’t let them make you feel like you aren’t a real fan or like you aren’t a part of things if you don’t spend money, the company wants to make you feel that way, don’t let them win, support the boys in your own way, if being a fan doesn’t make you feel happy or fulfilled, then what’s the point? :(
Anonymous said:Oh, about this Jimin cold thing. I’m a bit like him, I guess. I’m not always smiling or acting cute, my face looks like I’d kill when I’m not smiling and in reality I love be by myself. So a lot of people that saw me from a far thought that I was cold/rude. But my close friends say that when it needs to interact with others and make then feel better I’m the best choice bc I’m “cute and funny even when I curse”. And truth be told: acting cute/smiling all the time is tiresome. -🌻
yeah i think a lot of people would relate to this sort of story, people aren’t just one thing ;; thanks for sharing ♥
Anonymous said:I do see your point about the game now! I guess since I never felt the need to invest money in a rhythm game I never thought this was so similar to gambling. Obviously, I knew the game was designed to bring in profit, I just never thought the psychology behind it runs so deep. Now that I think about it, the bts game is designed to be even more frustrating. I played the SM one (that is was also made by Dalcome) and it wasn’t as hard to gain cards or points
i think about this stuff because i’m really invested in video games and i actually read a lot of in depth articles and such on the issue, since i also find it interesting from the psychological standpoint,i was a victim of it in the past. honestly these games are easy profit so i understand why it’s done, but from an ethical point of view i have a problem with it. and yeah same, i still hope they will recalibrate it because right now the game is way too unrewarding without paying, i’ve been playing it all day yesterday and i’m still just level 3? and i don’t have any good cards at all, i already had the itch in me to buy a pack that guarantees an S card, especially seeing namjoon showing them off too kadjsd like AAAAARGH, these games really are targeted at people like me who aren’t as strong psychologically dakjds, but since i learned so much about how these games operate it’s easier to stop and say NO, THIS IS WHAT THE GAME WANTS! lmaoo… self-awareness, or any awareness..it really does wonders for you

Entry #353 - Candy Farming
While I am not writing today's entry as early as I would have liked, at least I am writing it earlier than I wrote yesterday's entry.  That may not mean much to you, the reader, but it makes a surprising difference to me.  I cannot tell you how much less pressure and stress I'm feeling while writing this entry as opposed to writing an entry in the evening.  There really shouldn't be any stress at all to this blog, quite honestly, seeing as how it was a silly little idea I had a little over a year ago.  But now that I'm nearing the end of the year (I believe I have under two weeks to go), when night falls and I realize I haven't written anything that day, I start to worry that I might somehow not write something before midnight.  Especially now that I'm trying to go to bed at an earlier hour so I can wake up at an earlier hour.
Seeing as how a new event has begun in FFBE and I have occasionally written about said events...and seeing as how I don't exactly have anything else to talk about today...I might as well go ahead and talk about it.  For those who are not interested in this topic, I will see you tomorrow!
This week's event is a collaboration...well, not exactly a collaboration...more of a crossover event to celebrate the mobile release of Secret of Mana, one of many beloved SNES RPGs.  To honor this event, FFBE is putting the three main characters from Secret of Mana into FFBE as playable characters.  And, to go along with these new characters, there is an event dungeon that (as far as I know, since I've never played Secret of Mana) pits your party against up to seven bosses from the game. And, as is the norm for FFBE events like these, you gain event currency every time you clear the dungeon, and if you have characters from the crossover game, you receive bonus currency along with the base currency.  This time, you earn candy as the currency...which I suppose was something important in Secret of Mana.  Again, I don't know, because I never played the game.
While the events are (for the most part) very similar and fairly dull at this point, it at least gives me something to do with the in-game energy I have.  And the rewards, while, again, mostly the same, it at least allows me to stockpile resources for future events where high-powered characters can be summoned.  Then again, my party is pretty well set in stone right now.  The only character I would consider replacing is Cloud of Darkness, but her support capabilities make her really useful in certain situations.  I'm mostly just waiting until Warrior of Light and Tilith gain their six star upgrades.  Then I'll be set for good.
So I will spend my in-game energy repeatedly slogging through the event dungeon to gain event currency to buy things like rare summon tickets, trust moogles, and various colored megacite.  There is a fairly powerful weapon available, but its price is somewhat prohibitive.  It costs 50,000 candy, and seeing as how I'm getting roughly 500 candy per run through the dungeon, it's doubtful I'll be able to purchase that along with the other items I want.  The two trust moogles alone cost 100,000 candy total, and ten rare summon tickets are around 30,000 candy total.  And, as of right now, those two items take precedence, even if the weapon is an event-exclusive item.  I would much rather push for more trust mastery rewards than a halfway decent axe that I will probably never use.
The one thing about this event that's throwing me off a bit is that each boss has its own elemental weaknesses and resistances.  So I can't just repeat the same actions over and over each round.  While that might seem like a welcome relief from the toil and doldrums of the usual event, it actually just ends up making me waste time by changing my attacks each round. Really, in the grand scheme of things, it isn't a bad thing.  It's just tiresome.
I will say, before I start wrapping things up, that the previous week's event in celebration of the Lunar New Year, was quite unique and quite enjoyable, a rather stark change from previous events.  Instead of having an event-specific currency that you have to farm for hours, during the Lunar New Year event, the dungeons would reset every day and new mission rewards would be offered for completing the dungeons with various stipulations attached.  While it didn't necessarily reward players with as many big prizes as most farming events, it was a breath of fresh air for the stagnating events, and I really appreciated the change.  Some of the mission stipulations required players to clear a certain dungeon more than once (including one rather annoying stipulation that forced me to defeat the boss with an item as opposed to a magic spell or ability), but for the most part, if you had a decent team, you could clear the dungeon once and get all of the rewards.  Of course, since there was no currency farming involved, I ended up with a lot of excess in-game energy, which led me to start trust mastery grinding again...which quickly became exceedingly tedious and I stopped after a couple of days.  Still, the event was fun and different, and I appreciate that.  I do hope the developers produce more unique events in the future.  It keeps me playing the game despite its lack of variety nowadays.
Even though the sky is quickly darkening, I'm feeling great about finishing up this entry before the evening starts to set in.  Though, really, it shouldn't matter much at all, but it does.  I was hoping to get a couple of things done today involving the outside world, but the weather has been so unpredictable I just ended up staying inside.  Maybe tomorrow things will clear up a bit and let me take care of some stuff.  Probably not, though.
