anyway, 4.1. SPOILERS, but lets talk about a dragon in the room. a popular consensus i've seen a lot says that traveler's powers are mini-versions of archons of element's region. like anemo's tornado is similar to venti's storm black hole bc it sucks ppl in, for geo you bring the rock down from the skies, kinda like zhongli's meteorite.

but this kinda starts falling apart at electro, bc electro travelers abilities don't look like raiden's. but you can still make a case that part of raiden's kit is energy restoration for other party members and electro traveler has it too, so its eeeeh a stretch but ok. tho energy restoration is just overall electro mechanic but ok ok

where it completely falls apart is dendro. dendro travelers kit is nothing like nahida. dendro traveler has shotgun blast on E and like mushroom spores growing out of the ground on burst, dendro application on limited static spot, while nahida has her radish death mark for all she can get in her selfie. they are not similar neither in function or visuals. you know who does grow grow mushroom spore thingies in set area during fights tho? Apep. Dendro dragon.

hydro is the strongest case, because we now have a confirmed playable hydro dragon and there is no denying that hydro traveler is a bargain bin neuvillette, the pew-pew water pistol is too unique and similar to his hydro beam. i've seen some leaks of furina kit, i'm not going to spoil anything, but it's nothing close.

and if we look at other elements from this angle, you know who has an actual tornado just like traveler? dvalin. And who both throws rocks from above like geo traveler E AND grows spikes from the ground, like traveler burst? Azhdaha. we never met electro dragon, so we can't compare there, but the pattern i think is obvious. traveler powers mimic not the powers of an archon, but dragons of the element. archon powers just sometimes happen to share similarities, but mostly based on element's theme, like most of anemo shares the grouping trend.

i think traveler is a dragon, who traveled for so long and teyvat changed so much that their memories erased. their backstory is that their kingdom was destroyed by the invaders and they traveled the galaxy with their sibling for thousand of years, which tracks with how teyvat is initially was inhabited by dragons and then first throne invaded, destroyed them and humans ruled. traveler is a descender, but also somehow their sibling is part of this world, according to nahida. abyss sibing talks about "restoring homeland", and ppl take it to mean khaenriah, but we know for sure they're not from khaenriah originally. traveler can manipulate elements without a vision, like dragons do, and from neuvi we now know that "archon's authority" is based on power that was taken from sovereign dragons, which means when traveler resonates with archon statues, they resonate with vestiges of dragon powers. wake up sheeple, travelers are princess and princess of the defeated king of the dragons

EDIT post Act 5 AQ: now that it was revealed that gnosis are made out of remnants of third descender, it means that traveler is probs not actually a dragon, because apparently all Descenders have natural ability to absorb elemental powers. Which is interesting, bc like why?? Or maybe not all descenders, bc primordial one is descender too. If any descender could absorb dragon powers, then why gnosis is made out of specifically third descender? is it just bc they had his corpse sdfghj?? anyway, interesting.

You’re the type of person that is very thorough and this makes other people compare themselves to you and automatically feel attacked bc it’s so obvious that they’re only working to achieve the bare minimum. Before meeting you most people did only what was expected of them in school and work until they met you and now they see you as the standard. If you were such a bad person then why would random stranger customers praise you??? give you gifts, buy you snacks, etc if you were such the bad guy like people make you to be.

You’re the type of person that people may pick on for no reason not bc they see you as weak but bc they WANT you to FEEL left out, these types of people were the ones crying and complaining on social media during quarantine about how lonely they were and sad bc they had to be by themselves and you was just there sipping your tea bc you did your shadow work years ago when everyone else was creating soul ties and being n superficial frenemey relationships . You’ve been ostracized since an early age, but they can’t seem to understand why no matter how cliqued up they are and you’re standing alone or with one other person who also stands alone, why you aren’t begging to be n the circle or why you aren’t trying to prove yourself to others. whole time you’re loved by your family, your community , your siblings and or you have a friend group outside of them that they’re not aware of. Needless to say, you’re pretty fulfilled in life.

Bc of your high IQ, whether you know or not, you actually are gifted in creativity. For most you prob are supppper stylish you’re Mr or Misses put that shit on .. like FORREAL, and you rarelllllly get compliments or you do but not publicly or people may come days later like I saw that pic you posted and you’re thinking to yourself liiiiike hmm I didn’t see you n the likes thooo hater if you seen it why you ain’t like it then?? 🙄 people tell on themselves and you’ll realize years later that the whole time you were really the IT girl or Him but you make people feel small so they’d never tell you. Silent stalkers, silent obsessed fans and hidden enemies & prob people who call themselves your besties bc they wanna be accepted by the masses and since your the unconventional baddie (really not unconventional it’s just everyone else is basic and unoriginal / you break the norms and people don’t know how to be stylish outside of following trends or recreating what they see on their FYP or timeline…) anyway the way you dress is original and you’re prob good at trend forecasting and when you say stuff people be like “shut up” cuz you’re always right and people are inept when it comes to being creative or original; at the same time if someone was to try to wear what you’d wear for some reason they’d look like a fool 😂 it’s giving that’s so raven vibes where you’re psychic AND fashionable like how you gonna be the whole package? Meanwhile they’re getting bashed by their own family members for being dumb as doorknobs lmao

School : you’re the type to actually pay attention and when simple questions are asked you realize how little common sense people have bc they’ll basically repeat what was just said and so many people are used to being pacified and not called out on their BS bc it’s “not nice” but you’re like eff that why did you just ask what we’re doing n class when we’ve been talking about it for the last 30 min like bffr?? Cuz atp you’re playing in MYYY face for wasting my precious time by having to repeat simple stuff. I see you being the type where you’re tired of the professor asking the class questions and the class just mute sitting there like 🥴😓🫤🫠😵‍💫😴 .. AGAIN WASTING YOUR PRECIOUS LIFE FOR WATTT EXACTLY? So you *sigh* (save the day Superman /superwoman) by , once AGAIN, answering.. the.. questions.. you feel a tap on your shoulder.. “how did you know that??” ARGHHHH you want to scream bc I’m sorry [TW] everyone at your school is stupid or slow and it be making you feel like you weren’t even supposed to be born n this time period bc it’s no way 😂 you’re the type to get a bad grade n an easy class like gym just bc you didn’t try or change out when in reality you don’t gaf bc you prob have a high GPA anyways. I see you overall being a nice person (I just seen 3:33) but you have a low tolerance bc you know what you want out of life and everyone is just going thru the motions.

Work: you exemplify great customer service and work ethic and most people may hate on you bc customers prefer your service over others not just bc you look good 😂 which people also try to say you have pretty privilege and that disgusts them bc you actually do but don’t get it twisted bc you’re handsome intelligent and you understand psychology really well which goes hand in hand with sales. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for being friendly or doing your job right. I don’t see you being like a stickler rule follower but rather someone who engages with customers to make the day go faster and honestly it builds rapport and makes your reputation even better bc you could be the youngest yet seem the most knowledgeable bc people who’ve worked there longer or have senior experience bc they’re much older feel like you should just take notes from them even tho there’s no notes to be taken bc you body the job. In fact you body everything you do like they wouldn’t hire you if you weren’t qualified. You’re the type to get the job bc of your experience then when you work your magic now all your coworkers are hating UGH I can relate

I'm sure plenty of people have seen that HBomb video now and one of the underlying things it indirectly touched on beneath a lot of it is also why I tend to be really picky with video essays.

Plot summary versus analysis. So many videos would benefit from this and be direct about what they are. Plot summary is still valuable when you know the audience you're courting is unlikely to know about the topic you're discussing.

Because there's a profit motive tied to most of them, particularly due to the amount of time and effort it takes to properly put one together, it creates a lot of situations where people are pumping out content to be as reactive and ride on trends as much as possible even if they're not well thought out. The algorithmic nature of YouTube also exacerbates this. You get a lot of videos that react to trends but don't necessarily have anything meaningful to say about it. Someone like HBomb can make a single video and reliably count on it being sufficient for even just a year, but most people aren't in a position to do content at that frequency.

A lot of more academic style video essays are almost always severely lacking in disability analysis and it displays a lot of harmful brands of leftism. That's not to erase the disabled voices we do have, but the focus on trying to apply so many academic norms to video essays also means that a lot of critical voices for oppressed identities that don't have easy access to those spaces (e.g. a lot of chronically disabled people) often don't get considered. Some of these groups you really have to be active in the communities to be able to know and listen to.

YouTubers also have to contend with the worse side of the algorithm in that you don't have enough control over what audience gets targeted in who views your video. How you frame and package your video is incredibly crucial to the audience you get and how they respond to it, but all it takes is your video hitting the wrong side for people to subject you to a great deal of harassment. I made a video where I just mention Chris Rock offhand in one sentence in a video not about him but people still get upset that I criticized him even though he's a rapist. White people get really uncomfortable at just the use of the word "white people" and stop listening and get angry in the comments. You can easily pick out moments where Youtube video essaysists will clearly have that "I don't really care about this, but I need to say this and spend half my video pre-emptively addressing really basic things in the hopes it'll reduce some of the harassment I get."

YouTube quite frankly is also just unsafe for a lot of creators. You run the risk of harassment and for many of the more marginalized voices (e.g. trans, non-white, disabled ppl, people of marginalized genders, etc) you're at higher risk for doxxing and other forms of danger. So there's always the lingering danger of being on some hate site or a part of a harassment situation.

Video essaysists that build enough of a following aren't just making videos, but they end up building a community and following. Because so many of the institutions around us deliberately withhold information about things like queer history and analysis, gender studies, race and disability analysis and so on, video essayists intentionally or not capitalize off that vacuum of information. A lot of the inaccessibility in how living spaces have become for people means that a lot of people don't have third spaces or communities they can turn to, which is a big part of what makes these personalities so appealing. Content creators should be very aware of that fact because if you make say LGBT content you're going to likely court a lot of younger LGBT people who don't have an ease of access to community. You're going to get a lot of undiagnosed neurodivergent people. I find a lot of attachment to individual creators can be rooted in a lot of the lack of community many of these people have, though certainly not always the case. I feel that leaving the conversation at just "parasocial relationships" also oversimplifies the nature of this part of the issue.

Academic so-called activist grifters position themselves as either activists, academics, or advocates but don't care to grow or do anything other than court bigotry out of their viewers under the guise of progressive ideology. Trying to make educational style video essays requires a great deal of humility, curiosity, and vulnerability in being able to constantly grow and challenge yourself in looking for videos, something a lot of people are not willing to do. A lot of bigotry just gets dressed up with progressive language. A Black youtuber talking about the ways white women perpetuate racism? Sure. A white "leftist" constantly injecting some attack against white girls and women in situations where it makes no sense though?

At the end of the day, I think it's good for both viewers and creators to be aware of these things and always treat essaysists with a bit of caution.

this is kind of random but do you ever feel like people treat transmisogyny as a lesbian-specific problem, and if so, does it bother you as a trans lesbian? i don’t really mean general criticisms of transmisogyny within lesbian spaces, but rather people who seem to talk about transmisogyny like lesbians *specifically* perpetrate it the most, or are more capable of perpetrating it than anyone. i feel like this has become a popular trend in queer discourse (usually from tme non-lesbian ppl) to demonize or ‘other’ lesbians, & i think it extends from contempt toward “man-hating lesbians” but lumping trans girls under “men” to legitimize it, but i don’t know if i just notice it more because i’m tme, and i don’t want to overstep or make anyone feel like I’m discouraging discussions of transmisogyny by saying this isn’t a lesbian-exclusive issue. i know the ‘political lesbian’ movement was predominantly driven by straight cis women (and a smaller but non-zero number of cis bi and lesbian women) who laid a lot of groundwork for associating bioessentialism with lesbianism but is it unfair to say “lesbians aren’t an essentialist hate group and shouldn’t be generalized/singled out”? like is this a trend you’ve noticed as a tma lesbian, or am i looking at this through a misguided lens? sorry for rambling on, feel free to ignore and i hope your night/day is going well <3

I think that definitely happens to an extent, but that's mostly because tme non-lesbians believe in lesbophobic stereotypes that lesbians are more likely to be terfs and that most terfs are lesbians. it definitely bothers me as a lesbian, because not even being trans exempts me from these stereotypes. I've literally had one of my former best friends tell me they didn't trust lesbians, including me, because terfs invalidated their gender as a nonbinary person. like. it's vile.

so yeah, I think it's fair to ask people not to generalize about lesbians, but at the same time, I've also seen firsthand, many times, that transmisogyny is still prevalent among tme lesbians. the critiques tme non-lesbians make are mostly just blatant lesbophobia (and transmisogyny by assuming lesbians are talking about trans women when they say men), but over time I've become increasingly disillusioned by tme lesbians after seeing just how willing they are to throw tma lesbians under the bus. as just one example, a few months ago, there was this bi lesbian blocklist that was going around on here, and regardless of your feelings on that particular topic, the fact of the matter is that almost every single person on that list was transfem. trans women who have never identified as bi lesbians or even said anything publicly about bi lesbians (including several of my close friends) wound up on that list for seemingly no reason, and found themselves blocked by most of the tme lesbians on this website. you would think that people who put "tme" in their bios and reblog posts about transmisogyny would at least make an effort to stop and think about the implications of this, but it turns out that a sizable number of tme lesbians will exile a bunch of trans women from their community based on blind accusations of them being predatory men invading the lesbian community without a second thought.

that being said, the behaviors I just described aren't really unique to tme lesbians either. tme people of all genders and orientations have been doing the exact same things for decades. so what I'm saying is, although I don't think it's fair to generalize or single out lesbians as being particularly transmisogynistic, that doesn't mean tme lesbians should be pretending that they're incapable of transmisogyny and insisting they don't need to hold each other accountable for perpetrating it.

alleged blackfishing (the rule is that if black women find it offensive then yes it is, even if it was part of a fake tanning "trend")

posted an nsfw photo of her then-boyfriend to twitter before eventually deleting it and saying it was an accident (a lot of ppl questioned how easy it is to accidentally post an nsfw photo to twitter and also raised the question of what if the photo had been of a woman - so use your own judgement on that)

I'll only mention in passing the whole highly public cheating and messiness bc honestly, to me that stuff is wrapped up in relationship drama and shouldn't be classed with objectively problematic behavior. some people are messy quietly, Magui just happens to be messy pretty openly !!

personally, while I won't be posting content about her the same way I do Lily or even Rebecca, I won't go out of my way to not rb content she happens to be in. so far all that's happened is the same as what happened last year (being seen alone only once and then in groups followed by them living totally separate lives) and Lando went on stream with Max to deny all of that as dating so who even knows! I will say that while I don't have the image there was a fairly recent interview an Italian magazine where Lando said he was planning on staying single for to focus on his driving so ??

listen. i am not unattractive, and i am used to getting Eyes from one specific target group, which is very tall transfemme ppl (literally such a precedented phenomenon that it has become a tender joke in my friend group). but. But. i just got a haircut that is much shorter and more masculine, and has landed me squarely in Handsome territory (new territory for me; delightful territory for me) and i walked into my fave coffeeshop and it entirely possible that this aesthetic change has turned me into a magnet for ratty early 30s bisexual men bc one of the back of house guys saw me while he was on a walkabout to stretch his legs and i have never seen someone fling themself out of a kitchen so quickly in my life—after which point he proceeded to slow himself, give me very prolonged devil-horns (which i returned with an equally solemn-faced nod) and then fumbled the register So Badly, bc he'd never used it before, all while complimenting my cardigan and doing this very stoned attempt at banter and the foh baristas (who had not been in any way busy when i walked in) stared at him in wild confusion (they had only not gotten to me immediately bc first off they were chatting, and then they were busy observing the weird bro ritual their line cook had initiated with me.) eventually one of them came to save him (he couldn't find the button for the muffin i'd ordered) and he very plaintively said "i don't work up here :( " to me and the barista was like "haha yeah i was Wondering but" and he goes "teamwork" and then just hovers forlornly while she asks for my name and i pay, LIKE. i really hope this is a trend. i love to be fumbled by a little rat man. i love a little rat man. maybe this is my time to shine.

This is less about RT what I’m about to say, but I’ve noticed a trend that people are the harshest to business or people they have a more direct access or ability to affect.

RWBY is not the only production coming out of RT but aside from red vs blue it’s probably the most known outside of ET’s main fanbass past or present. It’s international. It’s wide reaching. The ppl who work there are public faves but also are seen more as regular ppl die to their social media over the years. They are easy to reach. Easy to harass like in Arryn Zech’s case.

But bigger corporations like Disney, Netflix, Blizzard, any major company that has been called out on misstatement if workers or harassment of employees. There are people who drop them 100% and no longer support them, but also they don’t do more than that. They see the employees working under an awful company and they deserve better and it’s so awful with all the layoffs. But with rwby it’s like “if you ever worked for RT and you still supper rwby then you’re harming your coworkers who faces the awful treatment”.

I’m not saying it should be ignored. I’m not saying it’s Ok just bc other companies have similar stories. But it’s ingesting that This place gets the most “if you work there you’re evil I don’t care if you need a job or if this place is the only way you can do the passion project you’ve been working towards. Get a new job, the show should die why do you care more about the show than real people. Anyone who supports the bees after all the shit about RT came out and they also worked there are trash.”

I work at Walmart in America. They sell ammunition there. I don’t like that and I wish it was different. It’s the most money I’ve been paid for any job and it’s convenient for me to work there bc my brother works there and our mom is our transpiration bc we can’t drive yet. Should I immediately quit bc forces outside of my control have done and are doing something I don’t like? Where is the Better Job that isn’t this? Where is the better company that will hire me on the spot at better rates? Where is the solution aside from drop the show it should die the company should go out of business. Let’s say it does. Do you support anyone there, if your argument is caring about people more than the show? Or do you (not YOU but ppl who say this) just want the moral victory of saying Company Bad. If that does happen and we never seen anything from RT again will you take your “activism” to the next company that mistreats it’s workers? Or would this be your final stand?

TLDR how are you helping people who have been burned by RT aside from hating on a show you could’ve dropped during the 2 year hiatus when all the shit came out about the company

I honestly don't have any answers. I just don't see what the destruction of RWBY accomplishes...at all, it's like somehow they believe that will somehow magically get all the people who have been laid off new well-paying jobs.

If there was an organized boycott or something similar I'd probably be more inclined to go along with it but there isn't. There's just a loud group of people trying to shame other people.

You make a lot of very good points showing that the situation is a lot more complex than some people make it out to be.

Also, my sympathies for having to work at Wal-Mart. I had to too, for quite a while.

People are so used to celebrity drama trending on twitter they think anyone with a scrap of publicity owes them constant life updates, selfies, and photos of their private jet, and a constantly updated instagram of what they had for breakfast that day. It's stupid, because 6 and his team are literally a small group of friends posting on youtube like literally any normal person. They're not some huge deal, they just got unlucky enough to have a fandom and actual talent go into their content. The internet has an awful tendency to form parasocial relationships and treat online creators as idols and it needs to stop. I can not understate how much ISPP are just normal people and them being super private is ALSO normal. The thing about experimental groups like shinee is that not everyone is going to like what they put out and that's okay. I love them but i also didn't like the new song from what i heard so far it's simply not for me and i don't think sm is forcing that sound on them either they're just following the trends. I don't understand why shawols pull the experimental contemporary group card to force you to like whatever they put out people have music preferences and the fact that they keep trying new things is what makes their title tracks a hit or miss with people. For a fandom with such a superiority complex they definitely can't handle criticism and they find any negative opinion to be a personal attack on the group when it's not and that's why i stopped interacting with them as well. I also hate the styling for the song i'm convinced their hair stylists have a vendetta against Taemin because they keep putting the worst extensions on his head (On a side note the bsides are actually good from what i heard so far)

Took me a couple of day but we finally made it! I hope I did him justice and that you all enjoy reading this. Anyone who’s perpetrated the harm and hate mentioned below to him, I hope you read this all the way through and reevaluate.

I honestly still can’t believe he posted this. I think this is the closest he’ll come to say anything against past productions in his career.

Obviously, it may not be pointed only at The Bee Show but rather an overview stance he's taking against his whole career experience thus far as Mimi has said similarly here too but still it’s a pretty big step to come forward.

Honestly, I’ve been waiting for a statement like this since S2 dropped or even when he left. I’m so so happy he’s gotten to a safe place where he feels like he can say this now without big repercussions. Then again he also kept it vague enough that no one particular production can say “Hey no slandering us” but still sends a clear message to those who have conducted themselves awfully on set and also by not protecting their cast of colour.

I can’t speak to the previous productions he was a part of pre-Bridgerton but we’ve seen how superficial the Bton team has been this season especially and now that they have their white couple, they have already started promotion - they haven’t even finished filming yet. Now let’s take a look at the ‘fans’ who ‘loved’ his Duke so much that they ended up turning on him:

Which is why I’m elated he’s booked, busy and can actually say this.

I was initially going to sum up all the anons I got in one post but the topic got way off track. I’ll be acknowledging and owning up to that in a second part but this is the main post and Regé & his treatment are the main focus. I do not want to dismiss or diminish his experience with production. Anyways, here are two that call out production and the cast as a whole and mention Regé (and by extension Simone as the other POC lead) deserve better.

First anon pretty much said it all - I don’t expect shit from the same Production that gave us those horrible lines - so I don’t have much to add on that front for this post but will be expanding on the cast’s side in Part 2.

Second anon: I mean I covered this before but IG likes aren’t reflective of anything but yeah ultimately there’s bigger and better things out there for them - hell we are already seeing it with Regé who got The Gray Man and signed on for the D&D movie. I’m sure he (and Simone) will be just fine!!

To sum up, Regé should have been treated better by the fans and production, he definitely should have been protected and I hope he’s living his best life right now!

no like i can't let it go, i'm still so upset :( long rant about sungtaro/nct/sm ahead

i mean we always knew that sm is terrible at managing their groups but experiencing it in real time as a (relatively) new kpop fan is infuriating... i only got into kpop/nct in mid 2021 so i didn't experience the peak of 3rd gen but from what i hear exo was dominating back then, like especially watching the pre-covid mama clips it's kinda crazy! obviously they're still crazy popular now but if you look at the impact on the current kpop scene they're not really there anymore and i get that has to do with the members enlisting too but i've seen plenty of exols (and fans of any other sm group) talk about how sm will abandon older groups in favour of the shiny new thing. for exo it was nct but now it seems they're doing it to nct in favour of the new non nct boy group that sungtaro + the rookies are supposed to be a part of. i get that they're trying to keep up with current kpop trends and probably want to compete with all the other new bgs but i really feel like they're cutting the nct concept short for no reason. if nct isn't as big as they had hoped it's bc they're mismanaging them!! if they spaced them out correctly i really feel like they could have easily debuted the japanese nct unit plus another korean nct unit, since that's what they seem to be going for with the new one, and i really think they could hold their own within the current 4th gen/upcoming 5th gen climate. obviously i'm gonna be biased as an nctzen but it really doesn't take much thinking to see they're underutilising the fuck out of the nct concept and now they're punishing the members and the fans as a result...

and ig they're hoping to have a good chunk of nctzens follow sungtaro to the new group but it's really not fair to us or them. if they're going out of their way to separate the new group from nct so much doesn't it defeat the purpose to drag nctzens with them into the new group?? like i'll definitely support them bc i've grown attached to them now but it feels like it's gonna be infintely harder now to establish them as their own separate group with their own disdinct voice as they will always have nct's shadow looming over them now, so i feel like a lot of us will just see them as an unofficial nct unit regardless...

this whole thing is fucked but i think what's especially cruel is shotaro got into sm FOR nct and they made his dream come true only to let him waste away for a few years and then rip it away from him again? like that's fucked... also sungchan gets on so well with all of them, i always look forward to him and jungwoo interacting!! like he trained with so many of them, the rookies too, it just feels so cruel for no reason. but ig now we can only hope for the yearly sm town interactions... :(

another thing i've noticed is the fandom's unanimous reaction to this news being very negative. i feel like with the lucas situation the fandom kind of split in half but it seems everyone is unhappy with this. the only remotely positive reaction i've seen is ppl saying they're happy sungtaro will actually finally have a fixed group and will actually get to be proper idols. i really wonder what k- and j-fans reaction to this is but i can't imagine they're very happy either

considering that sm was actively making merch with sungtaro's likness for nct home, ccomaz and the sanrio collab up until recently this definitely feels like a rushed decision. or maybe not rushed but this didn't seem to be a part of their long term plans until very recently, like welcome to nct universe just happened!! ig most likely shohei's injury unexpectedly set their plans back and i'm guessing sungtaro and the rookies were given the choice of delaying their debut within nct or this. and obviously we can't know but if that is what they chose i can't fault them for it. as much as we like to make the unemployment jokes, i'm sure it hasn't been fun for them, like universe was the last nct album and that was in 2021! and sungchan didn't even appear in a music video for it!! considering maw and 90s love are 2 of nct's best performing songs ever, it seems stupid even just on a purely monetary level to not do anything with them. so as much as this sucks i am really happy for them that they'll get to have a proper group now.

i really wonder about the rest of nct too, like seeing yuta's reaction today i can't imagine they got much of a heads up about this or that they wanted this either. first off, i want to sit down with yuta and shit talk sm so bad asdfshjfsdjds like you can tell that man is fed up! and rightfully so!!! considering we're coming up to contract renewal season it makes me wonder who in nct will leave... i feel like i can't see anyone in dream leaving (for now) but in 127 yuta and taeil have been pretty vocal about their discontent. taeil not getting a solo when he's now at risk of getting shipped off to the military at any point feels disrespectful, ik he's spoken about being unhappy about not having anything to do. i was also watching some of the 2 baddies promotional stuff back and you can definitely tell he was not having it back then. he seemed so unhappy and disinterested and who can blame him when he gets a miniscule amount of screentime? considering they gave him so much more screentime in ay-yo i feel like he must've had a big talk with someone behind the scenes and good for him!! i just hope that this continues and isn’t just a temporary change to appease him. and i rly feel like yuta could probably write a book on the ways sm constantly mistreats him, so it wouldn't shock me if either of them were to leave at some point. winwin is another candidate imo, he's so distant and elusive lol like he's building a pretty solid career for himself in china but he keeps making appearances with wayv every now and again so i really can't tell. nct def seems to be his sidegig tho and not the other way around, so i also wouldn't be shocked if he eventually dips. sm is rly fumbling the bag, like how is the supposedly limitless group losing members at such a high rate... sigh

ALSO apparently the new nct japan unit will be formed through a survival show... yuck 😬 sm has always historically stayed away from that, so i wonder if the new management changes and sm 3.0 have anything to do with that. regardless, i won't watch it ESPECIALLY if there are minors involved. i thought they learned their lesson after all the nct dream shit when aespa debuted with all of them being 18 and over and the rookies too. i'm really hoping they're not gonna regress into old habits... also from what i’ve seen from any other survival show, it never feels very fun or fair to the participating trainees, like i never watched stray kids’ survival show bc my heart hurt for them. i also really don't think that a survival show fits into nct's concept like AT ALL, especially at this stage of their career with 3 established units that all came together without a survival show. i feel like if they really wanted to go down that path they should've made that the concept for the non nct bg, that way they would also feel distinctly different from nct, but ig not 🙄

ofc i'll support sungtaro wherever they go but i wonder if we can bully sm into putting them back like dreamzens did for dream's graduation system, like just make the new bg be another nct unit and literally everyone will be happier for it!! ig it will probably have to come from k-czennies since they never care what us i-fans have to say lol but if there is a boycott i'll do it!!

Bullies

Sophie encounters her first antis

genre: angst

word count: 1k (scenario only)

warnings: bullies, hate directed towards sophie (physical and verbal)

“Sophie!“ The familiar nasty voice rang out through the noisy school hallway.

Hearing it, Sophie sighed, not ready to deal with another day of Miyeon’s clique. But she turned, knowing that the other girls- and the couple of guys that always hung out with them- would persist until she lost her cool and yelled.

Then it would be Sophie’s fault. Having had to explain to Chan once already about being sent to the principal because of losing her temper, Sophie was in no frame of mind to do so again.

Miyeon stood at the front of her small crowd, one hand placed her her perfectly popped hip and her typical how-dare-you-walk-the-same-floor-as-me expression twisting her otherwise pretty features. “Sophie, Sophie, Sophie,” she clucked, holding out her phone. “Have you seen the latest trending Twitter post about you?”

Sophie rolled her eyes. “No, I haven’t, and I don’t want to.”

“Suit yourself.” Miyeon took her phone back. “Aren’t you at all curious what it is?”

Sophie hesitated, only to count ten so she wouldn’t lash out, but Miyeon took it as a yes and began to narrate. “Stray Kids’ Newest Member Proves Herself Unworthy to Perform,” she read aloud loftily, emphasizing all the right words to make it sound even worse than it was already. “While performing in Chicago on the group’s second world tour, Stray Kids’ Sophie slips on stage during their performance of Easy due to her high heels. JYP Entertainment immediately released a statement stating that Sophie is well enough to perform, but that she will not be participating in any of the choreography for the rest of the tour. Needless to say, the image of one member sitting off to the side on a chair dampens the entire vision of an energetic Stray Kids concert.” Miyeon paused to look over at Sophie smugly. “If you can’t dance,” she sneered, “then why did Chan let you into the group? No, wait: why was JYP himself blind enough to let you in if you can’t keep it together onstage?”

“They let me in because of my vocals,” snapped Sophie, already in tears and trying not to start yelling. “Not because of my dance skills, because Minho and Hyunjin and Felix are excellent teachers and Chan and I were both confident that I could come up to par.”

Miyeon smiled pityingly. “But you obviously couldn’t,” she said patronizingly, “because look what-“

“SHUT UP!!”

Miyeon stopped talking, an expression of total shock replacing her earlier sneer.

“I’m done with being bullied just because you can’t stand the thought of your precious boy group including a girl,” Sophie spit out, lowering her voice when she realized that her first outburst had been akin to a scream. “You obviously didn’t pay attention to the concerts before Chicago, because I performed immaculately on every stage before then. I fell because of my shoes, you idiot, not because I suck at dancing!”

“Look, I’ve always thought you could dance really well,” cut in Sunyeong, Miyeon’s closest friend. “But we all know that JYP chose to add you in because you’d suffice as a replacement for Woojin.”

Sophie felt like a truck had crashed into her chest at full speed, leaving her speechless, unable to breathe for a few seconds.

Miyeon immediately latched on to this new train of thought. “Don’t you remember what JYP said when he added Minho and Felix back during the survival show?” she asked, her sly smile back in an instant. “He said specifically that there was just something about Stray Kids as nine that was so special he couldn’t disrupt it. Stray Kids wasn’t the same when they were missing members.”

“So when he found out you were a possibility to join,” finished Sunyeong, smiling just as smugly as Miyeon, “of course-“

“I AM NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR WOOJIN!!” Sophie’s voice resounded through the hall, and the between-classes buzz died down almost instantly. “None of us have ever conveyed in any way that we thought that!” she continued, pushing through the misery of having hundreds of eyes watching her in this extremely unideal situation. “And none of us have thought it, ever. I don’t know where you get your delusions, laser brain,” she unconsciously quoted from Star Wars, “but I am not a replacement for anyone, I never have been, and I never will be.” Her voice cracked on the last few words, and she sank to the floor in tears, unable to take the hate any longer.

“Okay, everybody, move along,” barked a familiar authoritative voice, and a moment later Sophie felt a hand on her shoulder. “Not you, Miyeon. And the rest of her crowd, you guys stay here too.” Principal Kang’s voice softened as he turned to Sophie. “Sophie, we’ll sort out the yelling situation later, okay? Right now I’ve got a more pressing matter to deal with.”

As Principal Kang helped Sophie to her feet, the girl’s long sleeve slid up her arm, revealing an ugly mosaic of bruises coloring her arm.

“Oh, my God!” gasped the principal, horrified. “Sophie, who did this to you?”

Sophie, her head hung low, pointed at Miyeon’s crowd.

This time Principal Kang couldn’t keep the venom from his tone. “Everyone to my office. Now.”

A few minutes later, Sophie sat in the office for the second time that semester. Only this time, Miyeon’s clique was scattered around the room as well.

“Okay, Sophie,” said Principal Kang. “Tell your story.”

“It started when I started school this fall, after our Maniac tour,” Sophie began, her voice low and quiet. “At first they were just taunts, meant to annoy me and drive me crazy. But soon it turned to hate. First verbal, then…” Her voice caught, and she had to stop for a moment.

“Then what?” asked the principal, doing his best to hide his anger at the situation.

“Then it turned physical. I’ve been hit, shoved against lockers and knocked hard to the sidewalk, all multiple times. One time they pushed me down a small flight of stairs. I sprained my wrist trying to stop my fall, and nearly blacked out.”

When she finished, Principal Kang’s mouth was set into a thin line. When he spoke, his voice was cold and hard, absolutely no sympathy for those on the receiving end of the coming justice. “We will take care of this.”

Members’ Reactions:

Chan:

absolutely livid

doesn’t even realize for a while that sophie had been called a replacement, and when he realizes that, he’s angry all over again

actually calls up the school and asks if the students who bullied sophie will be expelled

when he finds out they will only be suspended (for a long time) he contacts JYP and asks him if he can take sophie out of school and she learn at home

and boom, now sophie’s homeschooled

every time they go out, he makes sure she’s surrounded by at least three members as an extra safety measure

Minho:

just as angry as chan but decides not to show it

spends three hours collaborating with seungmin on a list of comebacks for sophie to memorize if she’s ever bullied again

puts together a video compilation of her dancing compared to his, hyunjin’s, and felix’s to show her just how good she’s become in the last few months

tries to convince chan to limit her phone to texting and calling only but chan vetoes that

because, after all, “a teenager needs her phone, and i trust her to be mature about the hate situation”

Changbin:

looks less bothered than the others

but secretly he’s learning and designing defense methods to teach sophie so she can defend herself properly if someone tries to physically hurt her again

does his best to always be one of the three surrounding her in public

if he sees her getting nervous he’ll take her hand and start swinging it gently and crack some jokes

Hyunjin:

unofficial captain of the “sophie recovery team”

which includes him, jisung, felix, and seungmin as regular members

in charge of the physical recovery department

which involves making sure her bruises are fading, that she doesn’t have any obvious head injury symptoms, etc.

sketches or paints a little something for her everyday that features a quote against a beautiful background

usually the quote is something about the members being thankful that she joined them

sometimes though he goes to social media and picks out really encouraging posts or comments about her from fans and uses those instead

Jisung:

the moment sophie gets home from school on that awful day he drags her to the living room to show her a powerpoint he and felix made about why she belongs in stray kids

actually more hurt than angry over the bullying situation, he tried to imagine what it would be like to be in her place and now the empathy has overrun the anger

escorts her to school every morning while they’re getting the go-ahead for homeschooling and if he can’t pick her up himself he makes sure one of the other members does

one time none of the members could make it so he called up a bunch of different people and ended up getting sana and momo from twice to pick her up

just goes to show how intent he is on her safety outside the building

almost succeeded in getting her to wear makeshift padding underneath the long sleeves she still wears but minho backed up sophie’s protests and they ended up winning

wanted jeongin to pretend to be sophie’s boyfriend that had just transferred schools but thankfully for everyone’s sanity chan vetoes that one with a “smart thinking but no”

Felix:

collaborates on jisung’s powerpoint

makes a salt dough and has everyone press their handprint into it

blindfolds sophie and has her do it that way

then it turns out to be a forever imprint of stray kids as they are with sophie

uses kneading the salt dough as his emotional release, takes out his frustration on the salt dough

because sophie’s mood often fluctuates a little based off the members’ moods and he doesn’t want her to pick up on how he actually feels about the whole situation

in truth he agrees with chan that the bullies should have been expelled

he also secretly wants a restraining order against them but he knows that’s just slightly overboard so he doesn’t suggest it

Seungmin:

probably the most chill on the outside but inside he’s probably even madder than chan got

it’s more of a silent rage that he keeps to himself till he’s assured that sophie is okay and till they get confirmation that she’ll be homeschooled

then he disappears one day to the gym and comes back tired from hitting the punching bag for almost a solid hour

single-handedly organizes sophie’s schedule to fit dance lessons (minho won’t fully stop until she’s fulfilled her full potential) and homeschooling

seungmin does this secretly one day and then surprises sophie with a completely revised and finished schedule

sophie’s really happy because for one thing that was just a really nice thing for him to do, plus now she doesn’t have to worry about fitting it all together herself

Jeongin:

deeply hurt that people could be so cruel to sophie

the fact that she’s the maknae, the only female member, and a rookie just makes it all so much worse

tries to always be in the trio surrounding her while in public

sometimes gets her up really early and takes her to the park while its mostly empty so she can enjoy being outside and a normal kid for a little while before the crowds come

he’s thinking maybe if she gets to play for a while and just be a kid, and forget that she’s an idol, maybe that’ll in some way help with the emotional wounds from the bullying

reminds her daily of how special she is to all of them, complete with a hug
