Titans: Season 4 - Ep11 - Thoughts

I have finally watched the episode. My God, my day at work was agonizing; I looked at tumblr and saw gifs and posts and was like screaming cos I wanted to watch it.

Anyway, since I've just freshly finished watching it, I am gonna note down some thoughts!

So... I feel weirdly mixed on this episode? As an episode it was good but as the penultimate episode? Idk... I feel kinda meh about it? I don't wanna come across as negative and the rest of this will mostly be stuff I enjoyed since I actually did enjoy the majority of it and as an episode in itself, it was good but idk... the fact the finale is all that's left, I feel like it's gonna be rushed... or the actual action is gonna be over super quick etc and loose ends won't get tied up... and I hate to say it, but I am kinda now doubting what is in store for dk fans in the finale? I would have thought this episode would have had more than it did, I gotta say. Idk... I just felt I had to say that to begin with.

Sigh, Kory continues to be and will forever be my absolute favourite. Idgaf what haters say and shit, I love Anna as Kory. I really do. She might not be like some of the versions people know Kory from but I think she brings close qualities and if anything makes this version of Kory edgier. Like, I absolutely adore her. Starfire is my absolute favourite DC character. Always has been, always will. I basically support any and all versions of my baby girl since DC doesn't spotlight her as much as they should cos she's fucking amazing.

Kory's dreaming and shit has me nervous for her. Like, we all know by now some bad shit goes down and happens to Kory. I am so dreading it. I know that she's gonna be fine from BTS stuff but like... it's still gonna hurt like a motherfucker.

Mercy was an interesting addition this season, I gotta say. I like the actress a lot since her days on Coronation Street (UK soap opera) and honestly, seeing her get choke slammed by Kory had me grinning but I like in the end she is purely like fuck it, take the documents, whatevs. Gar was also hilarious in that scene like no we don't need them all but I'm taking them ehehehehe. XD

Was... Was I missing something with May?? Like I thought she was dead when he burnt her ass up last episode? I was really confused cos she was just walking about like that didn't happen. Did she die and come back or was she never dead?? What... was that bodybag scene in the last ep real? I thought it was a dream. It was weird. I mean she dead af now and I enjoyed her as Mother Mayhem; she really had the villain oomf. Sebastian is... lacking in comparison.

In addition to that, Sebastian had potential to be scary but honestly, he comes off as a whiney mamas boy like he is grating. XD

Conner... my boy, I am always so left and right with you. I'm glad he is actually team Titans but... idk something in me still isn't trusting his ass XD. Like, I thought the bit with him and Dick in the tunnel was him tricking Dick or something but seems legit. We'll agree to like Conner and trust him... for now. XD

So, I didn't mind the Jason and Tim scenes but fuck me, wrong time. Like, I'm sorry. It felt so badly placed. We are at the penultimate episode and we're now just getting some Tim training as Robin with Jason? Nah, I was annoyed. And, they spent so many scenes on it?? Like miss me with that bs. It felt unnecessary, imo.

Another sour note, I feel like we actually could have had a lot more Kory scenes considering the episode was called Project Starfire. Like, damn. I promise, that's my only really salty thing.

Now, ahem... the dickkory scene on the balcony was cute af. It really nicely reflected the scene in S1 at the motel. But, it was too shorttt! Their sweet scenes are just... always too short for my liking which is disappointing. I'm happy for all and any scenes but jeez.

Gar and Rachel talking about wanting a change and shit, I was like are y'all gonna leave the famjam?? Cos I will not be emotionally okay if that happens. I literally just saw a certain new hero film where this was also a thing like pls CAN YOU NOT. My heart can't.

Lmao, Dick in the chamber thing when they were powering the orb thing was hilarious. Like, boy done fucked up the whole plan bc of his own anxiety for his wife. It was cute and his concern was very obvious.

Also, side note, the bit where Dick, Rachel and Gar appear where Kory is with Mercy made me giggle. Like Dick was so huffy like 'Making new friends?' and it was unusual like in this series its a real rarity that Dick is annoyed at something Kory has done like he has let her get away with literal murder whilst batting eyelashes at her. So, it was like tehe. Ya know? I'm assuming others know what I mean.

ALSO. When in the chamber thing as they got to 98% and before Dick fucked it up, did you guys notice Kory's eyes? That tiny bit where it went a bit slower and her eyes like flickered from glowing to normal? Was that something up with her powers or am I imagining shit?

I think that's mostly my thoughts. I still don't know how to feel on the episode. It didn't blow me away and I feel like with penultimate episode, I should be? I got excited in like the very last minute where he blows the horn and Kory's like 'There's only one way to end this. My way.' like bitch is dead serious and I'm scared for my girl.

I'm hoping the finale is really good buuut... I have also seen screeners really hyping it up and I'm just not trusting it. So, I think I'm gonna try and go into the finale with as less an expectation as possible to avoid crushing disappointment. I'm not gonna have any theories or anything or scenes that I would ideally like bc I think that's how you get set up for disappointment.

I'm gonna enjoy the ride and just see where the finale takes us. Weird that this time next week, Titans will be over. Sad times. :(

One upside, I'm working til 3pm next week so I am gonna try my absolute HARDEST to avoid tumblr and just not look at the tags so I remain blissfully unaware of what happens. Even if it kills me.

Each week when I am at work and a new episode of Titans comes out, I literally refresh the dc titans and dickkory tag like a thousand times to get me through the day.

ngl this was the first time seeing him, so most of the show i was just 🧍yk? yk. i think i was also lucky bc the ppl in front of me were fun and actually moved along to the music lol. they were truly also there to Experience A Concert, whereas i've been in other pits and it was dead dead dead so it's really not always great. honestly when he came on stage the first thing i noticed were his tattoos and all i could think was "they're real." jskhkjfrs groundbreaking ella, truly. yeah the show was fucking amazing and i wrote about it here as well back then, and i'm still convinced he smiled at me during habit bc that dude was LOOMING over our part of the crowd and my huge harry earrings were right in his face. i'll always believe it idgaf.

i do want to note that i truly believe being 1st or 2nd row isn't the magic key to having a good concert. not to sound like louis on a good day but it all depends on you and how you choose to enjoy your concert, and fr i've had so much fun during a louis show when it felt like i was miles from the stage, and i've had shit times in the pit. the ppl around you also matter, and i def wanna stress that being tired/hungry or being around stressed/tired/hungry ppl is just so so so not what you're supposed to do. so yeah. sidenote over

i’ve genuinely been in a state of shock since i finished the ep so i’m probably going to ramble terribly bc my brain will explode otherwise.... thoughts under the cut!!! and massive spoiler warning obviously 💪

OKAAYYY in no particular order:

greg getting whacked was beautiful i wish he'd been stomped into a pulp honestly sorry for not being able to separate the art from the artist but nicholas braun is a weasel and i hope he gets hit by a car

that being said tom and greg's interactions this ep were top tier i'm not a tomgreg enthusiast like That but i think every scene of theirs was hilarious as it was twisted

tom this whole episode... phenomenal. matthew is just a cut above in terms of acting he embodied tom's hunger and desperation and patheticisms so perfectly i really felt more and more unsettled by him every appearance

i do wish we had more stewy screentime but i also wish that for every single episode arian moayed is so freaking talented and charismatic and amazing and he ate up every second he was on screen

speaking of stewy. "you kiss guys on molly" <- BITCH.....? i actually don't know if i've mentioned this on tumblr but i'm a kenstewinator for life and frankly this was confirmation that they explored each other's bodies at college idgaf what anyone has to say about it

ohhhh my god the fucking "meal fit for a king" scene. i can't even find the words for it. seeing them all so happy and having so much fun with each other in that moment was just so heartbreaking bc i KNEW it wasn't going to last 😭 like my mum and i literally checked how much time was left in the episode after that scene and looked at each other like Wellll something terrible is going to happen isn't it.

kendall My beautiful baby boy kendall IM SORRY I WASNT YOUR MOTHERRRRRRRR . i could honestly write an essay about kendall in this episode alone i have never seen such a tragic crumbling of the self maybe ever. him sitting at logan's desk thinking he's finally won... his reaction to shiv betraying their deal... him attacking roman like i was seriously breathless my god that entire sequence was fucking crazy

and to be quite honest if i was kendall in that situation well i would have killed myself in that damn board room and changed the trajectory of all those old hags lives forever . like "i'm a cog built for one machine" And now he has nothing no father no siblings no wife no kids no company my fucking goddddddd 🤦‍♀️

i started chanting "please please please dont kill yourself" out loud in the final scene and i'm dead serious the kendall water motif HAUNTS ME and i was so freaking scared . but that final frame is honestly equally awful like kendall alone with colin in the background him basically becoming logan with none of the power this is seriously the worst possible ending for him.....

shiv doomed to repeat the pattern of being under a man's thumb is genuinely so deeply demented jesse armstrong sleep with one eye open. and i hate it so much because it makes so much SENSE like yeah she's lady macbeth she's caroline she's the wife she's the mother and she will never be anything else okay OKAYY.

like that scene w her and tom in the car where he waits for her to hold his hand was so fucking spine chilling also the ambiguity of us not knowing whether tom knows that shiv was the deciding vote in his favour is crazy <- i do think it makes sense that he would know but just shiv having that as a bargaining chip so they can sting each other over and over again like its all about the cycles i fear

roman being so resigned to it all by the end was sick like ok that comment about kendall's kids was evil but i still felt for him howeverr i do think out of the trio he will be objectively the most okay in the future... like he's free from it all in a way shiv obviously isn't and kendall literally can't be

honestly i'm struggling to articulate anything more i'm still so overwhelmed by how it came to a close.. never have i watched a show that left me so heartbroken and hollow but also absolutely satisfied narratively like succession is going down in the history books FR 😭

also they're def going to sweep the emmys and it will be so deserved i seriously think they need to invent a new rule to allow for a tie because i cannot imagine how they're going to decide between kieran and jeremy for best lead... <- i do lean a little towards jeremy bc i'm a biased kendall girl but kieran's performance esp in the first half of this season was just jawdropping so who knows

Favourite Only Friends character (Part 1)

Hello besties it's time for another fucked-up character worshipping :

SAND

Let's dive deep into Sand

Stoic :

Sand is very emotionally matured and to a degree, stoic. His life is a tough one but he is accepting about it and goes with the flow. Whatever life throws at him, be it sad, unpredictable, awkward or whatever, he handles it lightly and looks good doing it.

Him after a failed kissing session with his roommate :

He treads very lightly on life and doesn't take most things seriously. He is maintains an air of detachment in his relationships, which i found fascinating. Literally told Ray he DGAF even if ray doesn't choose him, he'll just move on.

He never asks/begs for/forces anything, not even when he confessed to Ray, not even his jeans over his ass cz his figure is fit and slender asf i want first's gangly body on me so bad

Like here he is literally talking about his failed love life and the shitty feeling of being a rebound/option. When nick wonders if it's hormones making them attracted to shit people like Boston and Ray... Sand says it's not hormones and they're just masochists,like a matter of fact, and laughs at it, idgaf king.

Sarcastic :

Sand is a sarcastic lil bitch and his comebacks always crack me tf up like babygirl is 100% sarcasm

Of course i cant finish this without mentioning my most favorite Savage Sand line this would be my 13th reason if i was top

Ei :

Sand is very emotionally intelligent and has great control over his emotions. He is also very in tune with other people's emotions as well.

Ray physically and mentally hurt him before the accident but he still went after ray to make sure he didnt die on the side of a street. This is the incident that made me a Sand stan™. Here's an amazing insight on that scene

It's really for Sand that ray was alive, which again points to just how emotionally intelligent Sand is. He later resolved his issues with Ray, and some people call him spineless but before the accident scene, he knew when not to prioritize his feelings.

Another thing i noticed is that Sand is usually outspoken and sarcastic as fuck but whenever he is in a serious fight, Sand kind of shuts tf up and holds back as much as he can while Ray pops the fuck off. This is again a point of how emotionally intelligent Sand actually is because he holds himself back and doesn't escalate the fights.

Outspoken :

Sand isn't afraid to ask for what he wants and assert boundaries in the relationship. Although his feelings were messing with his head (he kept forgiving Ray for everything), but he was always vocal about Ray's shitty behavior towards him which was refreshing. He asserted his boundaries very clearly every single time.

Tough :

tough as fuck.

So, this is going to be a strange bit of tangent-rant, what with all the Xitter-ing about Stellar Blade, sexualization, and whatnot. I promise, though, it's more random chatter than my own opinion on the matter (which is, more or less, idgaf). Reader beware.

For the unaware, Stellar Ass is an upcoming Korean video game starring a female main character modeled after a, well, model from Korea. However, the likeness isn't one-to-one, as there's some anime-ification going on with her face and hair, so there are definite liberties being taken with the character.

Naturally, though, people are less focused on her face and more focused on her butt and thighs, because her design is very much going into Hornyville in terms of accentuation, over-curvature, her swoocy movements, and her attire, or lack thereof.

Granted her butt and thighs are nowhere near as fantastic as Raiden from Metal Gear, but enough people have been chattering over her to trigger others who find this kind of design distasteful for many reasons. The thing is, it's a valid criticism to throw at a game, relying on some form of eye candy to draw people in.

It happens ALL THE TIME because that's what character design in games is about: making a character attractive and memorable to draw in the player and keep them hooked. It's not always sexy, though. Sometimes it's cute, sometimes it's cool, and sometimes it's just familiar to the player.

Having said that, it is also often a problem to design characters with sex appeal in mind, and it almost always involves female characters due to an inherent double standard that has yet to fade due to the many cultures that handle the issue in different ways.

Not that you can't make a sexy main character and still make them enjoyable to some extent as a character, but impressions will always be on visuals first, especially when knowing the persona of a character requires a time investment. In that way, a lot of the reactions based on appearance go both ways for equally valid reasons.

Similar complaints were made about Bayonetta and Nier: Automata, which are all equally valid, and could be made about the old Tomb Raiders if not for the rather cartoony cover arts (also that they toned down her boobs the more realistic they became in visual style). It's a means of hooking that is often used with a game that may not hit it off on gameplay alone.

The trouble is that the sexualized character can cause mixed signals, making an otherwise unremarkable game seem amazing because the sexy girl (or, rarely, guy) in the middle of the screen is triggering a positive reaction- brain chemicals, yada yada- from that alone. Hence why someone like me, who is asexual, generally is unaffected and has a more grounded opinion of such games.

I found Tomb Raider to be interesting to play, even if platforming in the remake was really buggy, forcing me to cut it short. Bayonetta felt too much like DMC 4 for me to actually buy the game, plus the magic hair idea and the heel-revolvers felt too dumb to me. Nier Automata was the first game to actually make my eyes hurt due to its washed out, sepia'd locations, and I found the game really boring even with its supposed "great story": it was just treading the old ground of other games that came before it without adding its own unique flair.

I can't help looking at Stellar Blade and thinking it'll be more of the same: people confused by their own excites into thinking a game is better than it is, much in the way the adrenaline rush of playing certain stupidly-difficult games can make you think a certain game is fun when it's actually badly designed and forcing you to win against unfair odds.

There's a lot of focus on how a game makes us feel when judging it, rather than judging it based solely on its status as a game. The fact that too many people can't separate their like or dislike of a game from its actual quality leads many to praise an otherwise bad game or condemn an otherwise good game, all over what the game makes them 'feel'.

To reel it back in, liking a game because it has a sexy character you want to watch and wank to, while I guess being fine, doesn't mean someone is wrong to criticize that design for being as such and further complain about 'oversexualization'. Especially when that sexiness is always the focal point of promotional media, cutscenes, animations, etcetera.

It's a very normal reaction to something that is still perceived as in the realm of sexism, sometimes because it comes from a culture that doesn't have the same values or progression as our own in that field. It's still a talking point that inevitably causes flared tempers, mainly because the people liking these sexy main characters feel attacked when the point is brought up.

Unfortunately, the defensive reflex really reveals more about them as a person than anything else, being unable to admit that 'Yes, this character is oversexualized, and I'm okay with that,' because the connotations to go with that are bad. It very easily lends to some extremist name-calling and labeling when the discussion should be focused on whether this is an okay thing in general or if it continues to promote an objectification ideal.

The problem then becomes the 'but it's a fictional character,' argument, which is a weak argument at its core due to the fact that separating fiction from reality relies on an individual knowing themselves in and out (which is impossible, mind you). However, a lot of what we like in fiction and onward is a translation of what we want subconsciously or would gravitate towards in reality because that's how the brain circuits are wired.

Again, this is focusing purely on the visual representation. For the pure reason that most consumers will always go for the instant gratification effect rather than hold off for the longer-lasting good effect. Part of why gacha games are so popular and addicting, but that's a subject for another time.

I guess, in the end, this tangent-rant is mostly a complaint that the problem isn't the character themselves but our unwillingness to have an actual discussion on how this can be a problem, how it may perpetuate a problem, and how it should be allowed to receive these criticisms, even if some of the complaints are plastered with buzz words or using it as basis for a really bad agenda.

We'll all love good-looking designs, be they sexy, cool, cute, or just reminiscent of someone we know, but we should always be willing to criticize them. Same for games. Your feelings for something and the quality of it are two entirely different things.

If you can't separate the two from each other, then either you need to learn how you can do that or simply admit your own bias and never render judgement.

Anyways, that's all I wanted to get out of my system. Again, my own opinion of Stellar Blade's MC is "I don't care," because I've seen enough of that kind of thing to just be numb to it. Also it's not as bad as a lot of character designs in Artery Gear and Nikke, or the stupid Nero Saber Venus look in Extella.

Yandere Platonic Headcanons: Dabi

- To you, his platonic object of affection, he is the Clingy and Manipulative type of Yandere. Yes, this man likes to cling to you. when he can't with his love, he'll do what he needs comfort for by complaining and 'crying' on your shoulder so to speaks. Don't be fooled, this is also fuel for his manipulation. He ain't losing this one comfort in a world that is cruel to him.

- You met when you were still very young. His mother and your mother were good friends and you had already inherited an amazing quirk so his father immediately allowed it. You convinced him that his father was wrong, a leading factor to his dive into villainy. When he left, you were the only one he stayed in touch with. He likes that you've always been there! His best friend!

- They're bad. He won't let you cut things. You are his friend and he will drag you. You count yourself lucky, you're glad you are not his love interest but even so you're only a good friend he cares about. You honestly don't get it. He, on the other hand, thinks you do. You're his pal, his best friend, you signed up for this!

- Damn does he have shit on you. You've been friends since you were kids, he knows every single embarrassing thing about you since you first met. You step a little too far? Blackmail. He also likes to use your own conscience against you. "You're the only friend I have!"

- He will make you help him deal with his darling a lot. From sweet things like distracting them to helping pin or drug them depending on what part of the 'Yandere Romance' they're on at the moment. He also makes you cover for him, not to mention give him the best alibis of alibis. "But the only one who has fire is Dabi!" "Shigaraki, it's fire. It's a pretty archetypical Quirk or power in general. Plus we were at my place, he wanted to make his lovely darling something."

- If you try cutting them off, he will use Blackmail. If you're at the 'IDGAF' stage, then he'll hint at how flammable people are and how easy bones can break under a hammer.

- Unlike with Darlings, punishment isn't as bad as many would think. His darling, he'd go all out; with you, you could call it warnings. Your mother died! How? "I warned you about how flammable humans are, (name)." Besides offing what's left of your loved ones, he may smash your hands. On the downside, you may now be in custody of him and whoever his darling is until they heal. You thought the broken bones was the punishment? No, it's making it obvious you don't have a thing for his darling and making them leave you be.

- Incineration is usually his go to when it comes to you. He isn't really creative like with his darling, he just sees a problem that is distracting you from be his best friend. I mean, you're almost like siblings! Anyone who thinks they’re allowed to take you (or his darling) should just burn in Hell. You’ve actually walked in on a few of these endeavors and heard him say “At least you can tell them it isn’t as hot down there as it was during your last moments bastard/bitch!”

- If Dabi snaps, he won’t hurt you. No no no! If he snaps because it has something to do with you he’s gonna hurt who? Well, you see, if this man has snapped it’s because someone has hurt you deeply in some way, he’s going to hurt that someone and all they hold dear (if he can.) on the other hand, expect to have your stuff moved right across the hall from him so he watch you and his love.

- He would let you be around his love. There are quite a few reasons why. For one, you help him with most of the ugly parts. You know, kidnapping, drugging, restraining them? Yeah, you helped him. Second, you’re a good communicator when things are rough between them, so bad he’s scared he’s gonna snap and that’s a no no when it comes to snapping over his lovely darling. Finally, you tend comfort both of them for whatever they need; Dabi just punished them? Firstly, Dabi needs support because he feels either betrayed or upset still at the lover. Secondly, you comfort the lover and try to get them to understand Dani’s actions. Not Dabi himself, just his actions.

- Dabi wouldn’t exactly let you have friends. No no, if you want any ‘friends’ all you’re allowed is Toga, him, and his darling. Why Toga? Cause he is friends with Toga. That all. He wouldn’t exactly blur the line but if and only if you’re hurt by someone romantically (that you hid from him obviously) it may lead him to blur it a bit much to his love’s acceptance of it because... well they rather have a voice of reason and a psycho than have just a psycho.

- His favorite thing about you is how you handle whatever is thrown at you. From something as simple as food to dealing with his fucked up shit, he finds it admirable and is probably why he counts on for a lot of shit.

- The affection he shows you is typically just randomly picking up your favorite snack when he was out, being there when you need him–especially if you need some corpses to disappear– and will also call you out on your bullshit cause he cares.

- You will break with Dabi as your friend. When Dabi sees you break, sees his best friend crack because of him, he still won’t let you go. He will comfort you and depending on what caused the breaking point, his darling will help too. At some point you feel like their child and things can go EXTREMELY down hill from there if you don’t snap out of it. After all, his darling will also have a breaking point too...

This post is coming to you from I'm tired because I've been in a car driving across BC for 9 hours

But here's some more thoughts about why Lover is gay after listening to it for the first time in a while and for some reason we're doing this now

ok so

I can kind of get why the GP wouldn't get that London boy is a satirical song bc I didn't get that about blank space when I first listened to it (before I knew about kaylor) but that is definitely a child crying and it is immediately noticeable from the first listen and it COMPLETELY destroys any notion that this song is serious

Also the way the background beat kind of shudders and breaks down like a car engine after the first chorus and then she immediately springs into BUT NOW I LOVE HIGH TEA just kind of suggests the whole I love English boys thing is completely fake and put on

The public ally songs are bombastic and loud (YNTCD, The Man also I guess) but the actual I am a lesbian vibes are subtle and delicate and I think it's all in the way the more "audacious"" songs eg YNTCD and LB songs sound versus it's nice to have a friend and false god and daylight

Literally compare the difference between the former and the latter and tell me she isn't purposefully showing how there's a wall between her public IDGAF WHAT U THINK persona and her very delicate very real very gay feelings
