So Good.
[Lewis Hamilton x Actress!Reader]
Based on: So Good by Halsey.
Warnings: Angst, Abu Dhabi and Monza 2021 (I'm so sorry), some fluff, few cheesy dialogues (cause I'm a dumbass), depression, insomnia, eating disorder and weight loss.
Word Count: 15.5K words (I've never written this much in my life so far, I'm so proud of myself).
A/N: My first Lewis fic, I wasn't expecting it to be done with during the Abu Dhabi race week but oh well💀 I'm personally quite happy with how this turned out! I hope y'all like it <33
Bold and italicized font: song lyrics.
Italicized font: flashbacks.
Tumblr media
“I remember the night, I was so frustrated.”
You could only bury your hands, head filled with shock and completely blank.
You never thought this would ever happen to anybody, let alone just him. Nobody who had watched the sport did.
Everything inside you began to sink in the moment the whole mess about unlapping the cars started and as the rest of the race unfolded, you felt yourself crumbling.
Lewis staying in his car in silence, in disbelief at the parc ferme had been playing on your mind again and again.
You were supposed to be there. You had to be there for him.
You had apologized to him multiple times for not being there in a championship decider race, especially at a win that was so historically important but he dismissed your countless apologies saying that he could understand. You had been shooting for a movie in London since November, which also meant that you hadn't met each other in more than a month, work and COVID restrictions making its way in. There was one thing that you and Lewis always stood by, which was that your jobs would be given the first priority. Understandable from both sides because your works usually involve a lot of people, meaning that compromising on it was quite hard and it was also very important to both of you from an emotional perspective, although you had to admit the Formula 1 driver was reaching an equivalent position to your work in your heart.
You watched him speak in the post race interview and then the moment he shared with his father, leaning his head as he took in the encouraging words being whispered in his ear. He had always been so strong and it was something you admired about him.
You sent him a message (which you hoped would provide a bit of comfort), mentioning that what happened was unfair, he deserved that win after everything he'd been through the entire season and that night and how proud you were of him. Also adding that he could call you when he felt like doing so because he wouldn't be in the headspace to talk to people at the time.
Seven hours later, you were done with your scenes for the day at ten in the night. The first thing you did after entering the vanity was checking your phone and your message to him was still at 'delivered', which increased your worry and anxiety.
After a bit, you got the idea of dropping a message to Angela, who was somebody you were close to too. You knew the Wolffs, Miles and Daniel, you even met his parents, stepmum and his siblings too when you'd been to the Silverstone race but Angela was somebody you bonded along with very well. She was one of the sweetest persons you'd met and also took care of you like an older sister would whenever you were around.
But you'll only get a response a while later since it's probably the wee hours at Abu Dhabi right now, you thought as you sighed. The race and your work has already drained out all your energy and despite your mind being absolutely restless because of how anxious you felt, but you had to drive yourself to sleep somehow. The director wouldn't be happy seeing her lead actress with puffy eyes and barely any energy the next day.
By the time you landed on your bed, it struck midnight and your phone let out the notification sound, showing the message from Angela which said that Lewis wasn't doing great and hadn't spoken to anybody yet.
Now how were you going to be able to sleep after knowing that?
“I touch your hand for the first time, I see it on your face, then another lifetime's flashin' by.”
"You see the star there? That one's called Sirius." he tells you, pointing to a specific region in the night sky.
"I didn't peg you to be somebody who was familiar with Harry Potter references, Hamilton." you give him a surprised, yet impressed look.
"There's a lot more to me than meets the eye darling, you'll see." he tells you cockily and you playfully rolled your eyes, shaking your head.
"This might just be one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen." you said in awe, your eyes fixed at the sparkling stars laid on an endless canvas of the dark blue sky.
"Mhm yeah, it definitely is." the sweet and distracted voice of the man who'd been surrounding you and your thoughts for the past couple of months came through and you turned your head towards him, finding him looking at you.
You felt your cheeks heat and you could only let out a giggle in response, not knowing how to respond because of how flustered he made you feel.
Lewis Hamilton was definitely a lot more cheesy than one would ever assume.
"I'm sorry I couldn't plan anything fun, there's pandemic restrictions so everything around is almost shut." he apologizes and you melt at how heartful he sounds about it.
"Don't be ridiculous Lew, I've loved every moment of this date so far." you assure him with a soft smile. Star gazing with somebody you've admired for so long as a first date was something that nobody could beat.
"Well, how can I make the date better?" he asks and your eyes light up in silent laughter thinking he's joking but then you look at him, it turns out that he was actually being serious.
Dear god, what type of dates had this man been on?
"Well that's a hard one because I feel like the date has already met the standards." you pretend to think for a moment "Maybe you could let Roscoe join us?" you ask him, giving him a grin which made him fall for you even more.
"Now that's not fair." he playfully whines "This time is for us. He loves you too much, will take away all your attention from me." he said, referring to all the times the both of you spend with your mutual friends. He was right, the bulldog did take a lot of your time.
"Well I've at least gotta win over one heart right?" you said, reflecting your doubts about him considering if the thing between the both you was anything serious or not.
"Well in that case, his heart will be the second one you've won over from this house." he said and you looked at him, your eyes softening with warmth and your cheeks turning red as you move closer to him.
He feels it too, you thought as he wrapped his arm around you, making you sigh in bliss.
Nearly two years later, the morning after the catastrophic race, the first thing you saw after waking up were the words "I don't think I can do this anymore, I need some space and time away." on your phone and at that moment, you had been absolutely destroyed.
It felt like everything in you had just been dropped down and shattered without any noise, you just feel so hollow and empty on the inside.
You couldn't ridicule him for feeling devastated, anybody would understand how much yesterday meant to him and how it affected him even if they didn't know him personally.
But you believed that you were comfortable enough to be with each other through any situation, happiness or despair. You believed that he found the same comfort, solace and safety that you found in him.
But it turns out that he didn't. The both of you went all the way from a video call like a regular couple would before the race to a text like somebody that didn't really mean anything to him a later, he pushed you out.
“I bet you're happy and that's fine. But I regret just one thing, I never got to change your mind”
He'd been back on the screens for the next season. Despite all the news about him discontinuing racing, you knew he'd go back.
Racing was everything to him, it was quite literally everything he'd known. He'd spoken openly about the struggles that him and his dad faced to reach where he was in the racing industry.
He knew how to rise up from the worst moments, he always had it in him.
You were still a mess. It had been almost three months since the text which broke everything in you. But there he was, having interviews with his teammate, a happy grin on his face.
Being an F1 fan for a long time, you always kept up with whatever news was on about the grid and Lewis had quite the spotlight when it came to headlines about his professional life or personal life.
You knew that he wasn't really the person for serious relationships after a point in his career. All of his focus was on Formula 1, rightfully so, which was why one night stands and short flings were what he went for.
You knew that even before you met him, you knew it whilst being friends but you still agreed to date him despite that one thing freaking you out. He had a hold on you, such an aura around him. You were always in this bubble of happiness, positivity and peace when you were with him.
Although his past relationships made you think about a lot of 'what if-s', how could you say no to a guy who made you feel like that?
Well, this was the consequence of giving in to emotions rather than logic. Your heart had been shattered like fritted glass, while he was back to normal like the break up was nothing but a minor collateral damage.
Work was always a top priority but all those moments that the both of you shared had a lot of meaning right?
“And I'm doin' okay. In the back of my mind, all I hear is your name”
The last time you slept well was the night before the Abu Dhabi race. You were normally a light sleeper, which gave you a pretty decent amount of sleep to feel good the next day.
But ever since that night, your sleep had come down only a few hours every week. You'd just walk about the room feeling restless, scroll through your phone or laptop or the television to pass time, there were some days where you just stared at the ceiling, the thoughts in your head just rushing in with memories of Lewis and you'd end up bursting into tears, sleeping over taking you after your eyes would turn red and puffy. And after two or three hours, you'd be awake again, tossing and turning around the bed.
And it was safe to say the sight of food started making you feel sick, your face would literally scrunch at the sight of it. But you still had to eat a minimum amount of food that would help you survive a day at work. Completely cutting out on food, which you had the urge to do, would completely affect the image on you and your career, which you felt was too risky.
Everybody had noticed you spiralled down, you could feel it too but you just stopped caring about anything after a point, you just felt so empty in your head to push yourself. Acting was the only thing that had you taking steps forward in life.
Soon enough, there were articles out on the news about you, commenting on the drastic weight loss that had been noticed in you, caused by the change in your eating habits. Your fans also began to notice how your use of social media had come down drastically, since you always had the habit of interacting with them frequently and also shared random pictures and videos from your day at work, especially if it was in a place far from home.
And that made the pressure from the people close to you increase. After getting to know about your break up with Lewis, your parents and close friends urged you to talk more, to let out how you were feeling. But you always convinced them by saying that you were alright, that you understood why he needed the break up and you just went along with life, your work satisfying you at the moment.
The moment you came back home after you were done with the movie you were working on for the past couple of months, the first thing your mum did was make you sit next to her and reminded you of all the hard times you'd been through, of all the people you had in your life who still cared for you and loved you, about how there were people out there who admired your work.
And that's when it struck you, that yes, you did lose a particular feeling love in your life. But there was so much more to life that made living your life whole heartedly rather than making it more painful for you, more that you'd already been through because of your heart getting broken by a certain British man.
You took a small break from your work and the fast life around you, spending the time with your family and friends, parallelly going to therapy as well. Although the scar of that heartbreak was always going to remain, the slow paced yet quality time helped your wounds heal little by little.
And then you were back to work, feeling better than you'd been for the past couple of months. You were able to breathe freely, feeling the light weighted space in you.
But there were still certain things that reminded you of him. One day, you saw a bull dog being taken on a walk by its owner, your mind would fly to how Roscoe would lie down in between you and Lewis, snuggling in the night. The smell or sight of tea would remind you about how the both of you would keep arguing about whether tea or coffee was better, you loving coffee and him being always so British and loving tea. But nevertheless he knew how to make coffee the way you liked it and you knew the same for his tea. The sound of a piano would remind you of the times he would play it and sing his favourite songs, even teaching you the basics of how to play it sometimes. Stargazing and watching Formula 1 was something you just stopped altogether, not being able to handle the intensity of the emotions it brought in you.
If there was anything that made you feel relieved now, it was about how it didn't hurt as much as it used to and how the control he had your thoughts had come down.
"Talkin' wildly out of context, I wish things were different. But I'll never know”
What the hell just happened, you thought as you looked at the screen of the TV in the garage.
It took you everything to not break into a string of curse words but if anything, you were really worried if Lewis was okay.
The man literally had a car on top of his with the tyres nearly touching his head, dear god.
And you had no clue how he would react after coming back to the garage. He wasn't the one to tantrums but was he somebody who just stayed quiet? Did he deal with the anger he felt? Would he like having anybody around him to comfort him? Or did he prefer being alone?
You had spent a good number of days with him, an amount of time that could turn into a bunch of months if you added them up, but all the races you'd been to for the past year were always good ones. You were there when he won his seventh world championship but this was the first time you were around during a bad race, a one with a scary DNF.
He didn't know you were here for the race. Due to the COVID protocols, you had to quarantine for a few days before being able to meet Lewis and you didn't have a break or gap of that many days that often which made being at his races quite hard. So you thought that you could surprise him at the Monza GP, coming into the garage after he got into the car.
What you planned was to hide in some corner of the Mercedes garage and meet him in his driver's room after he went there, yelling a cheerful "surprise!". But you obviously couldn't do that now, considering what just happened. How you would meet him was barely on your mind now, you were scared about how he was after the crash.
"Hey, he's back in his driver's room. You can go and meet him now." Angela came and told you, a few minutes after you were restlessly tapping your feet up and down.
"Oh thank god, how is he? No injuries right?" you ask her anxiously, a shaky breath leaving your body.
"He's alright now, nothing serious has happened to him. He has some headache and pain in the neck, he'll be back to normal in a matter of some time." she assures you, giving you a comforting smile and places her around your shoulder, knowing how worried you get about him.
"Would he be alright with having me around now Ange? I think he'd want some silence for now." you said, giving her an unconvincing smile.
"Don't be ridiculous, he just had a scary race. None of his family and close friends are around now either, he'll obviously love to have you around now. You'll make his day better and he'll calm down." Angela convinces you and you walk towards his driver's room, still debating in your mind if you should step in or not.
Angela knocks the door and speaks out so that Lewis thinks it her, rushing towards the team before Lewis opens the door so that the both of you can have your space.
The sound of the room's door opening brings you out of your over thinking. "Um, hey?" you tell him in a shaky voice, eyes scanning over him to see if he was alright. Of course Angela wouldn't lie to you but for some reason, it wasn't sinking in your mind until you saw him.
His eyes widened in surprise "You're here? Wait a minute- you're actually here." he says and his reaction made your nerves calmed down a bit.
"Well, the plan was to keep a rather happy surprise." you say, giving him a weak smile "If you want to be alone for some time, I'll go back and sit with Ange, I totally understand-" he cut off your rambling by taking your hand in his and pulling you in for a hug.
"Don't be ridiculous, I'm glad you're here. C'mon in." he said, wrapping his arms around your waist and placing his forehead on your shoulder "missed you and that scent so much." he mumbles as you place your hand through his braids, running your fingers through his hair to calm him down, like he always liked it.
"I can feel your heartbeat and it's going crazy. We've been together for a year and I still scare you?" he teases you, referring to the initial days of knowing him. Timid was an understatement. Having been a huge fan of the sport and him for years before you first met him, you always shared many shy smiles and few words with him, scared that your rather talkative side which always went on rambling would annoy him.
"I don't know- that just, that was scary. I'm so worried baby, the tyre was literally so close to your head." you sighed as he sat on the couch, placing you on his lap.
"Stuff like this happens time and again in racing, you've watched it over the years. At that moment I tried to shuffle inside the car as much as possible and lowered my head down, so nothing from the car reached my head. Don't worry sweetheart, I'm totally alright." he says, rubbing circles on your waist in the hopes of calming you down.
"Ange told me you have a headache and neck pain though, don't lie to me." you mumbled, pushing away the braids to a side and placing a small kiss on his forehead. He just gives you a reassuring smile, his eyes signifying that it'll be gone soon and he places his head on your shoulder, snuggling in for comfort as you placed your hand on his back and rubbing it up and down.
Thinking of the memory from that day made you wonder only one thing. Would the both of you still be together if you were together? If he would've seeked your comfort or just push you away nevertheless.
You guess you'd never know, Monza was one DNF while what happened at Abu Dhabi was something brought in such loss and affected his perspective about his career and life.
You knew it didn't end well, there were so many things left unspoken between the two of you. It was bad, but both of you would've been so good together.

In the assigned married fic, has Anakin even begun to process Padme saying that both of them will be moving to Naboo together? Like, they spoke earlier in the chapter about Anakin moving in with her on Coruscant, but Obi-Wan apparently spilled the beans about a much more permanent relocation to Naboo, and I am looking forward to Anakin's response to that, once he gets through processing everything else and remembers that part of the "conversation"....
i think padmé views moving to naboo more as a possibility than a future concrete plan -- the offer to be a permanent advisor on naboo is something she'd like to discuss with anakin as her husband before taking it or rejecting it. she says there's a lot of work she still wants to do in the senate, and she's probably thinking that it will be a few years before she would be able to go anyway. definitely after the war, but in her mind, she thinks anakin has every intention to leave the order after the war's over....because he kind of told her that. at least, in her mind he did: (from chapter 1)
“[Obi-Wan] asked me if I planned to leave the Order after the war,” he tells his wife. “And I lied, and then I think he began to support me. That’s what he looked like, anyway.” Padmé blinks at him, eyelashes falling slowly onto the jut of her cheek and then rising. “That’s good then,” she says, sounding hesitant. “That he supports us.” “Yeah,” Anakin replies, raising his hand to tuck a tendril of hair behind her ear. “Though…I’m sorry you had to lie,” she says, pressing forward until their faces are only a hand’s width apart. “Hopefully…” she trails off, biting her lip. Then she shakes her head slightly, and her mouth turns up into a smile as if she cannot help herself. “Hopefully he will not take the truth so hard.”
so anakin never says what lie he told obi-wan, he just says that he lied when asked if he was going to leave the Order, and that lie made obi-wan support him.
from an outsider's perspective, especially a biased outsider who is married to one of the insiders and believes them to have a future together, padmé's immediate understanding of this is that obi-wan asked if he was going to leave the order and anakin lied to him and told him he planned to stay and obi-wan began to support their marriage because he thinks he won't be losing anakin (padmé, who has three braincells, has long since realized obi-wan's obsessed with her husband)
and that's why she's smiling at the end (and also why they have sex at the fade to black) -- she believes anakin has just told her that when the war ends, he'll leave the Order to be with her and build a future together <3 so the offer to go to naboo is an option she can talk to her husband about, but she knows that anakin is going to no longer be a jedi....and if he's not a jedi, and she's not a senator....what's keeping them on coruscant?
BUT it's not just obi-wan that's feeling a bit catty during that dinner party scene, so i intentionally wrote padmé as putting this idea forward as less of a possibility and more of a done deal that she knows anakin will accept -- she talks about it like it's great big BACK OFF signs picketed around anakin because obi-wan is the biggest threat to their marriage in the entire galaxy and she's always known that
(but also no anakin has not begun to process that whole thing - but padmé, who now realizes they're NOT on the same page, is absolutely going to bring it up post-haste in the next chapter)

Napoleon (2023) Review
I know many of you have posted your own reviews and what I'm going to talk about will cover most of what people have said but I wanna give my own perspective on the movie. As you know spoilers will be said, so if yall still haven't watch the movie go before reading.
Alright first, I would like to say the movie overall wasn't that bad nor it wasn't great. Some battle scenes were a bit confusing, Borodino was the one which I got the most confused because of how quick the scene was. One moment I was watching soldiers fight and then it was done, which I guess they wanted to get to the part of Napoleon arriving at Moscow but I digress.
During the Seige of Toulon, I was a bit confused with Napoleon's reaction throughout the whole battle. He was hyperventilating and panicking which seemed strange to me since he was always calm and collected during stressful situations, especially this battle since it was his 'debut' and was an important plan in getting Toulon back in French hands. I understand him being a little bit nervous, but he had to stay calm for the soldier's sake.
Now, lets talk about Napoleon and Josephine's relationship, oh boy, it was a mess. I did like how Naps acted a bit awkward during their first meeting since he was pretty shy and weird around the ladies in real life, but after that the whole relationship seemed too toxic than what it really was. Like the scene where Josephine returned to the chateau after Naps came back from Egypt and him yelling at her and basically telling her she was a slut, him threatening divorce because she couldn't get pregnant at the beginning of their marriage, or when Naps got angry at Josephine yet again and threw food at her, or him slapping Josephine during the divorce scene. I literally let out a gasp when that happened. That whole representation of their relationship was a freaking mess, and don't even get me started with the sex scenes! They were so weird and Naps making animals noises before doing it didn't make it better. I think the worst for me was when Naps called Josephine "little one" like don't start with that kinky shit smh. Also the part where Alexander went to visit Josephine at Malmaison was not necessary, they did develop a friendship but it was nothing more than that.
Besides all the negative things I did like a few things about the movie. For starters Napoleon's first interaction with Josephine, that was a nice touch. The lamb chop scene was hilarious and everyone including me laughed at the scene. Naps falling down the stairs after almost getting killed by the Directory and saying "oh fuck" under his breath while standing up was funny. Even the scene afterwards where Naps and Lucien were struggling to get out and keep everyone inside was funny. His facial expression he made while trying to regain himself had me dying.
What caught me by suprise was Junot being in the movie because correct me if I'm wrong but no other movie had Junot included in it, so when Naps first yelled "Junot" during the Seige of Toulon I was like 'huh? Junot? Like Jean Andoche Junot?? THE JUNOT?? I can't believe what I'm hearing!" and sure enough Junot was in the movie! Even though it was only for like 30 minutes but him being in the movie made me so happy because he is never mentioned in any form of media.
Overall it wasn't as bad as I expected. I still wished they would've added other marshals like Murat and Lannes, but I do appreciate them adding Davout since he is also someone who doesn't get mentioned in movies a lot, so props to you Scott (I guess). I did get over the historical inaccuracies pretty quick, but Wellington and Naps meeting did rub me the wrong way knowing that they never met each other in real life. Also, Ney with a moustache...why??
So that's all I wanted to say about the movie. Sorry if this was a longer post, but I wanted to write down everything before I forget. Thank you for reading!

Breaking his heart (Dia)
If you want some positivity and a happy Dia after this then I recommend reading these:
Making him feel less lonely
Being his best friend
Diavolo Lucifer
Gender neutral MC
Warnings: a bit angst, MC turned out to be quite an asshole, heavy language
The prince's kind and warm way of treating others never fails to surprise new-comers or the residents of the Devildom in general. One would expect the ruler of hell to be scarier, more intimidating, striking fear in everyone's heart
But Diavolo doesn't make it a secret that he has a different approach of things. His laugh and wide smile melts even the coldest of hearts and talking to him is easy as cake. Never have you felt unwelcome or mistreated by the prince, in fact it's the opposite
He has tried his best to befriend you even which is...a bit complicated to say the least
It seems as if he always forgets about his position whenever he has a "friendly request" which makes said requests nearly impossible to decline. Whenever he asks you to stay over for lunch or dinner or whatever it makes you feel like you have no other choice than agreeing
It may not be his fault, but it's beyond uncomfortable especially since his fondness for you seems to grow extremely quickly
At some point you simply can't bear the burden by yourself anymore and seek Lucifer for advice. Surely the first-born understands the impossible position you've been put in, right?
"You better watch your tone. This is no way to speak about the Prince."
"No, no, I understand and you got me completely wrong. I do like him and I'm thankful for everything he has done for me, but you know...I feel like I have to walk on egg shells around him, do you know what I mean?"
He let's out a sigh
"MC, it's no secret that he holds feelings for you and-"
"But I don't want that! I don't want him to fall for me or whatever he has going on right now. I could never be with someone where I have to watch my words everytime I open my mouth. Please tell me that you can relate at least a little bit."
What you guys fail to notice is Diavolo on the other side of the door, overhearing everything you just confessed and the pain is unbearable
The tall demon takes up all his willpower to not gasp out loud, because it feels as if someone had knocked all the air out of his lungs
Surely you can't be serious about this? Before making a scene he decides to confront you about it over a casual dinner when the mood is relaxed and you two can talk it out like adults. Which he does
"MC, I'm afraid I must ask you something."
He does his best to put on a careless facade to not scare you, but you read right through his mask. You can tell by the way he's folding his hands on the table and by how his smile doesn't reach his eyes. Your stomach drops
"I've overheard your conversation with Lucifer and please do not be afraid to tell me the truth. Please forget about my title right now and tell me if it's true what you said in his study."
His words seem sincere, but all your ears hear is a command. In your perspective, you're a trapped animal
"Of course not-"
"Do not lie to me."
The harshness of his tone hits you like a slap to the face and anxiety builds up deep inside of you
"I'm sorry."
That's all you can mumble at the moment. It's impossible to guess what he feels or thinks. His face is stone cold, not one muscle is moving. If it wouldn't be for his chest falling and rising with every breath he takes you'd think he was frozen
"Tell me what you truly think about our friendship. Please."
This time his voice is softer, inviting you to trust him and you do. You fall for it
"You call this a friendship, but it's impossible to see it as one. I can't be honest with you and I can't decline your requests no matter how small it is. I just feel...a bit uncomfortable spending so much time with you. It's not you, please believe me. It's your title."
"I am deeply sorry that you feel that way."
Diavolo is completely shaken. The world around him is spinning and it's as if he's falling down an endless pit. He really considered you a close friend, more even
"Can I be honest with you as well?"
You don't want him to be
"Of course."
"I have actually been hoping for the possibility of us becoming more than friends-"
"For fuck's sake, Diavolo. Stop doing this."
Your words make him speechless and he opens his eyes wide. Your tone may be sharp, but all he can see in your eyes is desperation
"You're doing it again! You're putting me in an impossible position! That's what you do with everyone, do you not see it? And then I am the one who has to listen to you crying and whining about how no one treats you as an equal! We will never be equals or friends or partners. People like you, because you're friendly and kind for a ruler, but they don't like you as a friend and they never will."
Giving your rage in and throwing all these things at him is probably one of the most dangerous and stupidest things you've ever done, but it has to be said. He asked for the truth after all
Much to your surprise he just nods as if you've read the newspapers to him when in fact you ripped out his heart and dragged it through the entire Devildom and back
"If that is how you feel then I will make sure to avoid situations like this."
"Dia-"
The moment he lifts his hand you shut up. It might be a small gesture, but it underlines your statement
"Worry not. I will not hold any grudges against you."
There's a long silence before you pack your things and leave him alone on the balcony
Diavolo takes a moment to admire the view and feel the cold breeze in his hair
He can't hold any grudges, because you're absolutely right. Instead of being mad or upset over the fact that you broke his heart in the worst possible way he could have imagined, he feels nothing
You opened his eyes and he shall not make a fool out of himself anymore
The feelings his people hold for him will never be friendly in the way his soul aches for
And you will never be his either, but at least he was able to pretend for a short while

this one is a doozy... but i don't think anyone really understands that daryl's body has never truly felt like his own.
he was severely abused by both of his parents, which in itself destroys a child's concept of bodily autonomy. merle wasn't much better; abused siblings sometimes abuse each other, too, and obviously merle never grew out of using daryl as a ( mental, emotional, and physical ) punching bag.
merle used to literally, canonically, sell daryl's blood for extra money when daryl was a kid because of his O- blood type. i cannot stress this enough: what do you do and how do you end up feeling when you're nothing but a child and the literal blood inside of your veins isn't yours anymore?
it's why daryl has such a hard time with bodily autonomy, and why it's one of the biggest problems he struggles with throughout the whole show. especially in times of high stress, he desperately needs to feel like his body is his, and you can actually see it:
when he struggles to find his footing inside of alexandria for the first little while because he feels like he's suffocating in a glass box that he can't escape from; in the different bits of dialogue where he tells people that he doesn't belong to anyone; when he tells negan that he's just daryl to let him know that he can't take that away from him; in the way he runs away so often from controlling situations and tends to lash out when he is indignant; in that scene with aaron and buttons the horse where he says you used to be somebody's, huh? now you're just yours; and i could go on forever. the ways he shows it quiet down later on in the show and are much less brash, but it's all very much still there.
and it's no question, then, why he allows himself and his body to be used by his group time and time again— because as much as he desperately grasps for his autonomy, his people are the most important thing in his life and he would do anything for them. he has done anything and everything for them. and he's let them know many times when he doesn't agree with what they're having him do ( much of the time, it's rick ), but he does it anyway, like when he's asked to continue leading the sanctuary even when it's killing him inside.
it's worth it to note that daryl doesn't actually think this way in the forefront of his mind. there's no malice behind what he does for his family— his highest and most powerful motivator in life is his love for them. all of the above statements happen deep below the surface of his psyche. but from a writing and character study perspective: at least if his body is being scarred and bloodied and used, it's sometimes his choice, and it's by the people he loves the most.

From your tags: "if anyone wants to ask me about rings of power please do because i have thoughts™" This is me asking. (Also love your blog!)
i love you for asking, thank you 💛💛💛 this will be part three: parting thoughts & the funniest details from rings of power (part one; part two).
some parting thoughts:
i absolutely hate that all critics of the show are labelled as racists, misogynists, and anti-progressives, especially when the show’s treatment of women is tokenizing and pitiful, and it does nothing revolutionary nor makes a meaningful statement on issues of marginalized race. they don’t get to position themselves as champions of diversity just by doing the bare minimum and casting poc in side-roles, and having one original-character black elf whose plotline is tragically underwritten. they’re already taking vast liberties with the source material—why not a black galadriel? why not an asian elrond?
with that out of the way, some of my favourite* parts from rings of power:
* when i say "favourite" i mean i'm about to make fun of the show.
i love the part in the show where galadriel spends years of her life tracking down the ‘mark of sauron’—which looks like a little stylized pitchfork—only to discover it’s actually not a sigil. it’s a map, turned sideways, and sketched in modern minimalist style with the least helpful, least detailed, least interpretable shapes because apparently morgoth was really really bad at drawing mountains. and sauron, for some reason, is so forgetful that he carves this “map” into dead bodies and his tables and weapons and gloves so that he? won’t forget which mountain range he’s trying to conquer? wants to give his enemies fun clues about his favourite piece of real estate? unclear.
i love that one scene where galadriel and halbrand are on a raft and the set designers/director did not give morfydd clark enough stage business so she spends the whole scene pulling the same piece of rope tight, and then loosening it, and then pulling it tight again, on a random piece of wood.
in the same vein, i love the part where a conversation between nori and her mom happens except the stage business they were given for the scene was apparently… rub a rock on a piece of wood. and they just have to do that for the entire scene as if it’s normal.
i love the part where the writers seemingly forgot to actually go in and edit their placeholder dialogue and they have gandalf yell, “i’m good!” when he’s mistaken for sauron in the finale.
i love the part where galadriel discovers who sauron is and then goes inside and does not tell anyone what she learned for some reason. and elrond asks her what’s up and she’s just like, there’s no time to explain. and then never explains ever.
i think it’s really funny that the writers want sauron to be “like walter white, tony soprano and the joker,” when these characters have nothing in common except being well-written characters. i like to imagine they sit around the writers’ room examining every single piece of well-written television, marvelling over the very idea of multifaceted characters—a concept completely foreign to them.
and, for posterity—i have fun criticizing rings of power. i like to think i gave rop a fair shot—when i started watching it, i was fully hoping it would be well-done. when i heard the show was coming out, it gave me an excuse to re-read the silmarillion for the first time in years, and has connected me with the tolkien fandom on tumblr. i’m also a script writer irl and, so it’s been a fun exercise to pick apart why the show didn’t work for me both from a fan’s perspective and a writer’s perspective. a lot of tolkien fans are deeply hurt by this show and hate its existence and its fans—that’s not me. i would not be engaging with this material if i wasn’t having a good time doing it.
that's all for me, folks—thanks for tuning in; i'll shut up about this now haha.

Florist Talk: Deliveries
Time to talk about what happens when flowers leave the shop! As always, I'm talking from the anecdotal perspective of someone working in a small US flower shop. This is going to be especially important for this one because the place I work at has some Delivery Rules that I know for a fact aren't - maybe can't be - universal, especially if you get into bigger cities.
For writing purposes, take inspiration from any bits of this that could be interesting for whatever plot you're writing out, and change others as makes sense or is properly narrative.
So, first of all - is your Florbo going to be running deliveries at all?
I do, because it's a small shop and we don't have a dedicated delivery driver. I design flowers and also drive them places, except on very very very busy days when we get other people in just to drive, like Valentine's and Mother's Day.
If you're writing a bigger shop in a bigger city, or even a small one with more dedicated roles, a flower design Florbo might not drive deliveries unless it's very needed, for whatever reason. Even so, you could have another character of some importance be the dedicated driver anyhow, or you might just vaguely need or want the opening to a scene be the driver coming back complaining about something that happened on the run, so this still might be useful.
So here's roughly what happens when Flower Deliveries go out:
Deliveries get sorted by Most Efficient Route. If a delivery address is unknown it can be looked up on a map. Maybe someone uses GPS to navigate. Maybe the Flower System being used can map a route for you automatically. Maybe it's all done in the driver's head because they know the area really well by now.
Flowers (and other things like balloons, etc) get put into the back of the Flower Delivery Van. There are holders back there to keep things in place en route. These holders can vary from foam inserts in plastic trays, with circular shapes in various sizes cut out of them, to wood boxes with more various circular shapes cut out of the top, to styrofoam trays with various openings to, heck it, some of those heavy cinderblock bricks with cloth or foam lining the inside so glass vases don't chip on the edges on turns.
Broadly speaking, these measures will mostly be effective. Sometimes the fit is loose, though, and a change in direction or speed is too sharp, and the driver will hear something rustle, thump, and start to trickle water. That is never a good sound.
Some vases fit the holders better than others. The ideal is a good snug fit that doesn't allow wobble, let alone clank-clank-clank on every turn or bump.
Deliveries tend to have matching delivery slips that are kept up front by the driver and are used to remind driver of addresses and to check things off as they're done. Personal anecdote: it's the norm at my workplace to write the time of delivery on the slip when it's done, so that if anyone calls later and asks if/when it was delivered we can give that info.
Here's where stuff is gonna vary: the rule at my place is that the delivery goes to the door of the house, and if no one answers, it cannot be left there. If no one answers the door, we call the recipient's phone number off the slip, assuming we got it. If we get an answer there, we ask if there's a better time to deliver these flowers, or another place within town - sometimes someone's at work and can receive them there, or they're out until a certain point and we'll return then.
If no one answers the phone, or if we don't have their number, we call the person who ordered the thing, and tell them what's up and ask if they have a way to get hold of the person the flowers are for. Sometimes it's a yes, and we get the info asked for above. Sometimes they also fail.
Sometimes voicemails must be left, with the store's phone number given and a request to arrange a better delivery time. Sometimes the voicemail box is full or has not been set up yet and we just gotta try again later.
The flowers are never left, only messages. They go back to the store if they must. They are stored in the cooler for the next day if they really must. They are remade a week later if they really really must (sometimes people go on vacation out of town right when someone they know, who doesn't know about the vacation, decides to send them birthday flowers or something).
This rule is definitely not universal. I've sent flowers other places and been told how they were just left on the front step and were found by accident as the recipient didn't ever hear a doorbell or knock or get a phone call like the website said they would upon delivery.
Businesses tend to be easier to deliver stuff to than houses. At the very least you've generally got some kind of front desk or counter to leave the things at.
Other little notes on delivering stuff:
If in a cold season and place, like sub-freezing cold, flowers must be put into plastic bags which are taped or stapled or tied shut before they go outside. This traps just enough warm air around the flowers to keep them from freezing between building and vehicle and building. There is a fine line between "cooler which keeps flowers fresh longer" and "freezing air that will give flowers frostbite so that they look nice until they thaw at which point they go to hell immediately."
Sometimes someone is sent flowers from someone they don't want flowers from. I have been told that, as flower shop, we have to complete the delivery. We can't take them back. What happens to them after they're out of our hands is, well, out of our hands, but we gotta be able to honestly tell the customer, if asked, that we did indeed successfully deliver the flowers. That being said, write what you will.
Delivering balloons on a windy day is hell. I haven't lost one to the wind yet - knots and strings tend to be pretty sturdy and I keep a good grip on them - but they will batter you all around the head as you try to walk with them, and if there are multiple they will tangle the strings together.
A delivery driver of any type probably knows the general area pretty damn well. Even if they don't know exactly where XYZ street is, chances are they know the general direction where it should be.
A florist driver probably knows by heart the location of and routes to nearby/local hospitals, clinics, funeral chapels, schools, and quite possibly churches.
Sometimes you get to meet one or more Very Good Dogs on a delivery and it is the highlight of your day.

I was wondering what Cabin in the Woods reminded me of and it finally dawned on me… Blond hair, artistic abilities, isolation from the world, parental manipulation…
IT ALMOST SCREAMS "TANGLED" 💃🌼
(I have no idea why you need this information and I just wanted to share it lol)
Lol I love Tangled. When will my life begin is my A.D.H.D anthem! And I’ve actually thought about this before and totally see the comparison, especially when I write scenes that are either super emotionally manipulative or centered around Spiders hair.
I’m super eager to share more Cabin in the Wood as I continue to write it so here’s a longer snippet with some context. In one of the endings where Spider has been with Quaritch for over three years he develops Trichotillomania ( compulsive hair pulling) due to the prolonged stress of his captivity. His dad catches on and gives him a buzzcut to get him to stop, so this is a chunk of that scene but from Quaritch’s perspective.
**************************************************************************************************
He made his way outside finding his son standing by the chair, shifting around nervously. Junior was smart. He definitely knew what was about to happen. Miles Sr took the clippers in hand snapping on the number two guard. “Well, sit down. The faster we get started, the faster it’ll be done.”
Junior paled at the sight. “Pa…that’s gonna be really short. Can’t I….”
His big brown eyes pleaded with him to not do this. Miles Sr felt guilt begin to creep its way in but he quickly snuffed it out, harshly cutting his son off, “Jesus Miles, I swear you're worse than a girl. It’s not like it won’t grow back.”
Junior took a small step back, clearly wanting to run. “But...aren’t I old enough to get a choice?”
“No.” The father said simply. Not when you hurt yourself, he thought. “As long as I’m breathin’ you'll never be old enough. Because I’m the parent and you're the child. What I say goes. Now stop arguin’ back and sit down.”
His son hesitated for a moment, scanning his surroundings for some kind of escape. Realizing there was none he finally sat down, gripping the arms of the chair for dear life. “That’s my good boy,” Miles Sr said gently, as he guided his son’s head to the side. Junior was already so tense and scared. Maybe this wasn’t the right course of action.
No, that was just his emotions talking. This was for the best. For Junior’s own good.“Trust me son, you’re gonna feel a lot better after this.” His bad habit will stop. He’ll be happy again. That’s what Miles Sr needed to believe. He tried to do it as fast as possible, having the right side of Junior’s head shorn in just four passes. His son had his face scrunched up as if he was in pain, holding his breath as the clippers moved from the top of his head to the base of his neck. About half way through was when his boy went numb staring off into the distance completely dead eyed.
He’ll thank me later when he’s not balding, Miles Sr thought as he tilted Junior’s limp head to the left to finish his task. This is for the best. “There,” he was done, piles of honey blond curls laying at their feet, “quick and painless.” Junior didn’t move. Miles Sr ruffled what was left of his son’s hair in an attempt to get a reaction. His boy remained as lifeless as a rag doll. “Y’a look good.” Junior was a handsome boy. He’d look good no matter what. But truthfully the father hated it. The cut made his son look older, and with his watery, shell shocked eyes he reminded him of the prisoners of war he’d rescued during his marine days. It tore him up inside seeing his once happy little boy like that.

thoughts on gideon the ninth chapter twenty-five, and predictions for the ending
now that's a locked room murder! And if you read to the end of this post, I'll actually have a complete guess for who I think is behind it.
first of all, i do not believe that the monster is something that was there all along. no, someone is taking advantage of the monster story that teacher told, i'm sure of it. there was no monster sighting for magnus and abigail's deaths, but after that, teacher told the story, and now someone behind this is enjoying the effect of showing everyone the monster. but in reality, this isn't some insane, crazy thing — it's just a big bone construct any sufficiently cracked necromancer could make. especially one in a facility that's been teaching them how to improve their necromancy. also, the messages in blood — let's flip the chessboard. why would a random monster want to show them that? i can think of a few possibilities, but i think it's more likely that the person behind this is trying to give off an effect that will scare gideon.
rip isaac. he was a good kid, in the end.
now, the proper locked room mystery is what happened to jeannemary. i don't think i know the full details — we might get some more next chapter as we investigate the scene — but we can still start thinking. Speculation incoming:
Option 1: Jeannemary let someone in while Gideon was asleep. For her to do that, it has to be someone Jeannemary has reason to trust, even without waking Gideon up (I can believe that she distrusts Gideon enough to not wake her up, though). There are only three people this could be; Isaac, Magnus, or Abigail. If one of them is secretly alive, then it's probably Abigail, because we did just see Isaac die, and I dunno, Magnus was very nice while we never actually saw a ton of Abigail. Alternatively, someone could have reanimated and been controlling one of their bodies. It could also be someone Jeannemary didn't trust, but did consider not a threat, like Dulcinea.
Option 2: There are more keys. The fact that there was only one key for each room was a guess, not a fact. Any of the people actively working on stuff could be the one who has it.
Option 3: Someone made a duplicate key. Who was in possession of the key before Gideon? Harrow.
Option 4. There is another way into the room. This would be in violation of Knox's commandments, which you totally can do (Zero Escape), or you can specifically avoid doing for the sake of it (Umineko). I'd lean toward the latter for this story but I can't say for sure.
Option 5: Someone shot the spears of bone that killed Jeannemary from underneath or above the room. It was not described in so much detail so honestly this is possible. How would they know Jeannemary's position, though?
That's all I have for now. Unless someone fed Jeannemary small bombs that exploded into bone spikes inside her body. The chef was the culprit all along :)
Now, let's look at this from a different angle and consider suspects:
It has to be a necromancer involved, due to how Jeannemary died. The funny thing about this whole Locked Room situation is that it typically might make Gideon a suspect, but Gideon literally couldn't kill Jeannemary in this way. Or could she? I mean, I know she didn't, but from the perspective of the others, she could have just prepared preexisting bone spikes. Anyway, that's a tangent.
Judith: Even with them having sucked shit, her team just feels too irrelevant. I don't believe they had it in them to pull this off, I don't believe they would have secretly had a key, and I don't believe Jeannemary would have let her in.
Coronabeth: She would have to have been a big time actor to play this whole act of being inferior to Ianthe only to have been planning all of this on her own all along.
Ianthe: Definitely possible, she's one of the biggest unknowns and potential schemers. The problem with her being the culprit is honestly that she's done so little that there aren't really enough clues to go off of.
Isaac: That would be a pretty hard death to fake, imo, and he'd also have to have faked his bestie's death, since I don't think he'd have killed her. Not hi.
Abigail: A very real possibility, assuming that the magic is so strong that she actually could pretend to be dead. That would feel a little cheap, but it's possible to make it work. Like what if she did one of the challenges and learned to resurrect herself? I don't think it's likely but it's possible.
Palamedes: Kind of a similar option to Coronabeth. He has such a strong existing personality that it's hard to imagine him actually having been faking all along. But that doesn't mean he couldn't have been. I mean, that's kind the point of a secret culprit: That they were faking their personality. I trust people too much, so it's very hard for me to consider possibilities where someone was faking how they act. That said, he's also a dweeb.
Dulcinea: Honestly, very possible. There are clues to pick up and tie together. I don't know what shape they'd form, but they're definitely out there. Maybe sending Protesilaus out is part of some plan. I can definitely believe she's pulling some shit.
Silas: Kind of like Ianthe — possible, but he's done so little that I'm not sure what clues are there.
The fact that I haven't noticed enough clues does not necessarily imply that they aren't there. It could very well be revealed to be Ianthe, Silas, or Palamedes, and turn out to have been foreshadowed in ways that I simply missed. But I can only go off of the information I'm aware of.
There's one other thing we have to keep note of, though, before we get to our final suspect. Other alibis. Many, like Ianthe and Silas, have no alibi. But there are some we know were together while Gideon and the teens were busy. Palamedes, Camilla, Dulcinea, and Harrow.
I think that honestly rules out Palamedes. I don't know how he'll get around it. Short of next chapter saying "oh yeah he left for a bit" I don't think he has a way around it. Dulcinea, probably not as well, unless she had a really clever plan, with some remote controlled skeletons, and whatever Protesilaus has been instructed to do.
But Harrow.
Let's talk about Harrow.
Palamedes says something in particular. He doesn't trust Ianthe, and he doesn't trust Silas, but he does trust Harrow. Mysteries are about subversion. When you say something like that, in a mystery, there's a good chance you're gonna get completely clowned for it. I personally consider narrative framing as important as hard evidence, but you do need hard evidence alongside it.
One possibility is that Harrow made a duplicate key out of bone. But to use it, she would have had to have left the group she was with. So it's likely impossible for Harrow to have entered the room Gideon and Jeannemary were in.
BUT WHAT IF-
Tumblr media
SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO ENTER IT!
What are two of the skills we explicitly saw Harrow learn? We saw her learn to create crazy, regenerating skele-constructs, and we saw her learn to remotely watch Gideon. Who else could have created the creature that attacked Gideon and the others? If it's not Harrow, we'd have to answer that with someone else having developed or already had the skill. It's more narratively elegant if it was simply done by the character we already know learned it — a chekhov's gun that seemingly hasn't gone off yet! That would also explain why it didn't chase down Gideon, despite her carrying a lanky teenager — Harrow would have wanted to kill the Fourth, but leave Gideon, and had to improvise after Gideon took Jeannemary away.
Secondly, how do you kill Jeannemary while Gideon is in the room? And how do you facilitate this entire thing while Gideon is there? Simple. You watch through Gideon. Again, Harrow learning this power is a chekhov's gun that hasn't been fired yet!
There are lot of ways this could have gone. Harrow could have left a trap in the room and activated it with the knowledge she got through Gideon's eyes. Harrow could have simply used her knowledge of what happened inside of the room to tell a skeleton to go, with a copy of the key, and stab Jeannemary, while Gideon slept. Of course, a big assumption in this is that making a copy of the key is actually something that you can do with bone — it seems simple enough, but the powersets are vague in this story and it might just not be on the table.
Of course, there's a big difference between watching and controlling. Did Harrow even know she could pull this off? Well, it's more likely than you think. She probably didn't plan on doing it this way, because she didn't realize Gideon would have saved Jeannemary. She might have only realized it worked when Gideon fell asleep. Or, there were several prior times Gideon was asleep in the story — Harrow could have secretly practiced it during then.
But there's an even simpler way. If Harrow didn't just look through Gideon's eyes, but controlled Gideon. Why did Gideon fall asleep so suddenly? It could have been induced by Harrow's powers. Even if it was natural, it could have been taken advantage of by Harrow. I have to go check and see if Harrow watching through Gideon was actually something Gideon could perceive, or if only Harrow felt the brunt of it. Honestly, once Harrow mastered that power, why wouldn't she constantly surveil through Gideon's eyes?
Edit: Alternatively, Harrow could have used the other power she learned, soul siphoning, specifically to drain Gideon's energy and make her fall asleep.
How, then, could Harrow have actually killed Jeannemary? It could be something she left behind in the room in case. It might be a stretch that Harrow could actually use her powers through Gideon's body. But she also could have just opened the door with Gideon and let a skeleton in.
Now, there's the question of why. And here's the thing: I could completely believe Harrow would do this. We've seen some development between Harrow and Gideon, as they've gotten closer and more trusting. But that's been personal between them. It hasn't been making Harrow a better person. And the overall stakes of this — what being a Lyctor even means — are not something the book has really made clear. That means it's open to reveal the details are something that would believably make Harrow sacrifice others for her own success.
Harrow is one of the most pragmatic and smart players in the game, from the very start. As the game developed, we saw the choice established, between working communally to win and working solo. There are no rules. You can try to win as a group or individually. Harrow worked with others, but every situation in which she did is a situation where it would have been disadvantageous to not, or where it would have made her look bad and untrustworthy. None of that means she doesn't WANT to win solo, or that she isn't willing to kill for her success. Just that she is smart enough to be careful and secretive about it.
And Gideon is still alive.
If anybody else was trying to kill off their rivals to win at the game, why would they leave Gideon alive? Unless their way of killing Jeannemary was absurdly indirect, or they have a very specific plan that goes beyond just rival-killing, why would they leave Gideon? Simple. Because Harrow cares about Gideon — and knows she doesn't have to try to kill her loyal ally.
And the thing is, we already have a guess at what a specific plan might be. Death to the Fourth House, the words in blood said. Whoever did this wants people to think that this was done out of a specific grudge. But as far as I've noticed, we haven't seen any hints of another group having a grudge against the Fourth House, so far. Rather, I think this is a cover. This is Harrow's attempt to explain why the killings would leave Gideon out, while still removing her rivals.
Harrow, I just noticed, was even the one who suggested that Gideon and the teens go downstairs, while she waits upstairs with Palamedes and Camilla. She knows to pick on the targets she can handle.
Most of all, I think the answer should be whatever causes Gideon the most pain. It's one thing if it's a really hot girl. But it's something else if she has to face the person she doesn't realize she cares about so much, but is slowly starting to trust, is actually the killer.
If I could say it in blue right now, I would (I don't know how to do that on tumblr). Harrow killed Isaac and Jeannemary, and possibly others, in an attempt to remove her rivals, using the skills she learned to create great hulking skeletal constructs and to watch through or even control Gideon.
I am not 100% sure. This theory has many holes, some of which can easily be filled in simple ways, but won't necessarily be. There are valid alternate explanations that could be extremely interesting. But out of everything I've got, this is by far the most interesting and believable option I can see.
If I'm wrong, laugh at me later. If I'm right, send me money in the mail and don't spoil me.

March 🌞 2024 Monthly - Aquarius
Preshuffle: You expect a situation to turn out positively, expect a dream to come true and expect a relationship to get better - so it is, because you’re putting the work into it. Some of you have had a wake-up call or will that will stir your emotions & make you realize where you may have been distracted or not focused on what really matters to you - 10 Cups.
Meditation: Outside your door were vines, big loud drums, sounds of jungle music, like a movie ready in the middle of action scene or building up to one. Vibing Tarzan here. Hyping me up. Inside, it’s a bunch of mom animals with babies, all kinds, all of them nurturing, feeding, cuddling with these little cuties. The main one (you?), a gorilla 🦍 (vibing Tarzan like I said) said “we expect great things from them” and you held your baby up in the air. There was an unspoken “especially this one” coming from you, a sense of royalty or honor, and you were the leader, so this was like a prince/princess or the equivalent. Hierarchy. Placing them on a pedestal of sorts.
Main energy: 9 Swords & Ace of Pentacles rev
Oracles were flying out at me, painting the picture. Some of you could have children, I don’t really get that here, more like *you* are the little gorilla destined for great things. And I’m not getting a narcissistic vibe either, not yet anyway, but rather - The Star. You ⭐️ Your path, your purpose, the wholeass reason you came here to do this life thing. You’re afraid something is getting in your way of that. Love? Or parents, hierarchy, a marriage for someone. You’re in an energy of Discovery, which is awesome, but there’s this nagging feeling in you that you’ve missed something, or missed out on something. DESTINED for you, and you missed it. I’m telling you rn that’s not possible, that’s not how Spirit works. But your fear is there, it plays on your mind often, or there’s this feeling you can’t shake, that something is too late, too hard, too much drama, something you can’t do or have based on…money, time, the opportunity is gone, or was never there. You could’ve lost something, it was stolen, someone else broke it - feels like a material thing in that case. Inheritance & Lost, either this is regarding a dream or actual parents maybe hating your romantic partner / sexual preference / gender even, or something like that. You’re an Aquarius, of course they do. You feel like others are against you but you’d rather cooperate with them than argue. Independence at the bottom of the Oracle deck is important to highlight too - it’s about you but seems to not be about you. You’re afraid to make it about you.
What’s going on in March:
The Hierophant:
Could be a relationship with Sweetheart as an Oracle, for most it feels like a strict family dynamic. Religion most likely, and with Inheritance here, this would be something *everyone* does, believes in, if the whole family went to law school then you’re expected to. And you’re like “Maybe I just wanna be a pig farmer 🐷 leave me alone.” Essentially. Or you have to marry someone your race, the family religion, someone that fits, they obviously don’t know an Aquarius too well. You’re going to run in the other direction, your existence changes perspectives and you don’t even realize it. Someone here could have feelings for someone who is married, hoping they’ll be single, or someone wants that from you, you’re/they’re conflicted on what to do…it’s not likely to happen…9 Wands rev ends the reading, that’s giving up. I won’t stick with that story, if I see success I’ll let you know, but I’m just seeing a no. You don’t want that shit anyway, it’s bad karma.
For the majority this is some system of rules that is cruel to you - 5 Swords - or you are extremely bitter towards it for some reason or another. You want certain things and it doesn’t fit in some cookie cutter mold, this isn’t the way things are done - typically. Could be a sexual preference, Ace of Wands with 9 Cups at the bottom. Or a goal, a partner, a dream, something that excites you, what you want for your future. Parents may want you to have kids and you don’t want to, period. There’s a rebellious spirit in you that something/someone else has tried to control - and it hasn’t worked, because that’s who you are, like it or don’t. This could also be what you do for work, sex work is highlighted possibly, if that’s your thing then you’ve really pissed someone off with it. Family. The government? Maybe. Hope not. God? Or someone’s telling you that. I also see possible abortion here. Or simply the support of it. Someone is afraid they’ve angered God/family because they didn’t do things “the right way”.
8 Wands rev:
You probably haven’t said anything out loud, so this would be “if they knew” sort of thing between you & God right now. Some kind of “sin”, no story will be the same, but you’re quiet about it. You’re afraid of the wrath you’d get in response, and losing people. Friends, family, parents? In some cases you may be disowned altogether and you know it, you don’t want that. So you say nothing, and either pulled away from this thing if that’s possible, or you have pulled back from talking to this person/thing regarding anything other than work, cooperation, how are you? They don’t know personal stuff. If someone’s gay here, no one knows. Same for any other thing you feel like David vs. Goliath with. Spirit gave me that, I don’t Bible too much, but that’s what I was shown. Maybe that can give you some peace…Spirit knows everything, you’re supported. If you’ve stopped talking to people it could be because they try to guilt you or coerce you into seeing things their way, and it’s more like that’s not possible, but they are testing your ability to be nice or look the other way if they keep it up. Could be dealing with an earth sign/s or again just a conservative way of thinking/believing. You’re not subscribed to whatever this is.
The Star:
This is your dream, your path, the light after a storm, but you can’t see it because you’re trapped in 9 Swords. Playing things over and over again in your mind, worries, fears. For many this is about love or preference, it’s not something that’s going to fit in a mold, or you don’t fit in a mold. No matter what this is, you’re going to do what you want, but you’re terrified of losing people who matter to you. Parents. Some of you have parents that put extremely high expectations on you and you’re over here barely surviving like “stopppp”. Not a Princess. You don’t even want any of this shit, you just want to be away from it. While also not betraying or hurting anyone, you fear that too. There’s a new beginning you feel is meant for you, and you go back and forth on whether you take it or not. You want to. You may not with 9 Wands rev here, but you could. Or you could know someone in the family is already pissed at you and you don’t want to cross or “deal with” them, or you do but don’t have much faith in it.
2 Cups:
Romance, love, or a close connection with someone you care a lot about, these could be soul ties on some level - even family. This is what you want, unconditional love or support because it’s genuine, and reciprocated, no matter what kind of love this is. You’d like to move away from conflict and heal any connection that’s fallen out, whether they agree with you or not. You’re independent and also love people, especially your family. Some of them may have been cruel to you and you don’t see that getting better. If you feel a situation is doomed to failure, you may just leave it alone and give up on it. If it’s not THIS, bye. Care about you wayyy over here now.
9 Wands rev:
This is heavy pressure, so much that you can’t carry it all, it’s too much. Too much on your mind, too much stacked against you. You have no choice but to drop this burden and leave it behind you. Other people’s expectations for the most part 💯 Healing a situation requires things you can’t give, you don’t believe in, you aren’t attracted to, whatever the thing. You’re put on this earth to follow your own call, which you can feel with this Star. Page of Wands at the bottom is a sense of excitement for your own journey, your own path, you’ve been waiting to take action towards what fills your own cup. Fk everyone else’s cup, it’s not your job to fill them, it’s theirs. Some of you need to chalk up a situation to “you tried”, that’s all you can do. You can’t change who you are or become who you’re not for someone else because that’s what they want. True love - loves you, that’s it. Black and White seems very important for those of you dating people “different” to what you’re expected to. Different color, culture, religion, whatever. Being different is a good thing, you may breed resentment from those trying to control you, all Aquas do, but you inspire more by just being yourself, something has to be left behind for you to be able to be who/what you want to be, even if it’s just fear. Fear of what other people think. There is no right way. Maybe you are meant for great things, but Spirit never said it was “their” things you had to be great at 😉 It’s your life, do what you want. If you think God hates you, why would Spirit be saying do what you want? Leave “failures” behind and go on to what makes you feel passionate, you already know something is aligned for you, The Star & Page of Wands both show you have a vision 🤍
Signs you may be dealing with:
Taurus, Sagittarius, Gemini, Aquarius & Leo
Oracle: ✨
19 Unlimited Possibilities 🌈
When fall turns into winter, the leaves fall from the trees, the birds fly south, plants go dormant - some even die having lived the life they were meant to. Do we ever panic and wallow in the fear that this is it? There will never be another robin singing? There will never be another ripe tomato? No we don’t. Why? We know that after winter, spring will return, followed by the bounty of summer. It is so in your life. At any given time, there are unlimited possibilities for you and yours, many different paths to take, many different options available. Do not get bogged down into thinking in a linear fashion. Open your eyes and your heart, and feel the power your free will and choice brings to you. Make your life what it is meant to be.

We enter into March as:
Cool Lemonade 🍋
“My dreams got answered.”
There are times when chasing dreams leaves us winded and unhappy. If this gift has been given, it’s to remind you there is always a plan. If you fear you’ve been sidetracked from your right path, have faith you’ll be guided back to it. There is not always a complicated reason why things didn’t work out how you wanted them to, it may be simpler than you think. Are you sure your prayers weren’t answered? Or was it a reply you refused to hear? You will find total peace when you appreciate the gifts you have, rather than pining for what you lack. Sometimes, we all need to be reminded that the point of prayer isn’t to get what we want, but to ask to be of service. Cool Lemonade reminds us to only seek to be of service in our lives, closeness with Spirit must always be put before what we’d like to have.
What is to be learned in March:
Black and White 🖤🤍:
“Together we are stronger than alone.”
If Black & White calls you, then it represents a time of creating union out of that which seemingly should not work. It is changing old ways of thinking. Are you bold enough to take a risk? Do you dare to have the life the way you desire? Are you willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to have that desire? You may not be able to predict the outcome, but you can change it. State your opinion & step forward, the time is now. This could also indicate a brave undertaking of yours, the joining of two powerful forces for a higher good. A new trail lies ahead! Choose love 🤍
Black & White may be lucky colors 🖤🤍

Review of Sally Face
Tumblr media
Sally Face is an independent dark adventure game & not to immediately jump into singing its praises but it's actually one of the most beautifully well done games of the past decade.
The game is reminiscent of other similar games like Fran Bow, yet its managed to build its own unique charm to it and just generally has a different feel to it. If you're a big killmonday game fan, I'd HIGHLY recommend this game.
The story follows a young boy named Sal Fisher (or Sally Face) as he and his friends talk to ghosts and try to stop a hundreds of years old cult that is trying to kill God. The game is very narrative driven as you live through Sals perspective as the events you play through is him retelling his experiences, which you often times forget while playing since the story is so immersive. The characters are so easy to get attached to and every twist and turn has you on the edge of your seat. I love the look of the game & how much thought was put into building the world of it. The game also runs very very well, especially considering that it was made by one guy. Bugs, glitches and frame rate drops are very rare, which is impressive considering how absolutely dogshit my computer is. Like, its so incredibly smooth & not taxing on ur system, so if ur system can't handle much but you still want an immersive and amazing game to play then this is one of the first games I'd recommend you.
There are however a few issues that knock the gameplay of it down a few ranks for me though. The game itself is only 8 hours long, and even though there is a sequel to the game being released so we're getting more content eventually, it sometimes made me feel scared to play the game since once it was over then there'd really be nothing left of it. The game unfortunately doesn't have as much replay value as I'd like, which is understandable since its a game based mostly around plot but it's still sad to me considering how beautifully built the world is. The game also doesn't exactly tell you how to 100% complete each episode. Like, every episode is packed with so much lore that completely changes the story and each puzzle piece that you unlock makes everything so much more cohesive and truly shows you the genius of the game dev. Issue is though that you're never even alluded to the fact that there is something to unlock inside that area. Every puzzle and piece of unlockable lore is just based on fucking around and finding out, so if you just follow the main story and go in the direction the game is leading you like I tend to do then you aren't going to get the full story. Even when you look up an achievement guide so that you know what you're looking for and how to do it, the game itself seems to not want you to succeed. From the lack of explanation & clues towards certain tasks like having to crack a code that is very unobvious & the game seems to want to lead you away from solving it, to the game not explaining basic mechanics like the fact that completing chapter 7 of In Seeking Providence shuts down any opportunity to complete chapter 8 & the fact that the controls for the clumpy minigame are not explained, the game can become very frustrating since it involves a lot of resetting & googling tutorials. There is also a lack of accessibility options, so the game is not safe for people who are photosensitive since it has flashing lights that you can't turn off and contains blood & gore with no settings allowing you to blur that out.
With all that aside though, the game is still absolutely beautiful and easily one of my favourites. The look, feel, lore & gameplay are amazing & have easily made this game into a game that is in my go-to recommended for anyone getting into the gaming scene or even just looking for a well made story based game to become obsessed with. Overall rating: 9.5/10 Aesthetics: 10/10 gameplay: 8/10 Suitable for children?: No Would I buy again?: Yes absolutely

double... whatta tv show!
wowow is usually the place to go for more Artistic dramas but the vast majority of those are like. about crimes or political conspiracies. very interesting to see something like this which has no mystery to solve, no deaths, no corporate sabotage, just a slice of life about two Are They Gay Y/N theatre homies doing acting gigs,
except the presentation here actually isn’t dissimilar from a murder mystery bc the main characters are SO dramatic about their emotions and occasionally unmoored from reality. i would love to see more dramas like this get made where “will these 2 men ever fuck each other” is treated with the same sort of gravitas as finding the killer would be in another show.
i mean just on the basis of production value i’d recommend this show to most people - it’s very atmospheric, well-shot, i especially loved the music used in it which made me feel some kinda way.
it all combines together to really capture the strange mindset of these two people who exist in this like dreamy borderland between their real lives and their entwined identities and their acting. certain scenes actually reminded me of my favorite movie of all time millennium actress, so. bonus points there. i do kinda wish double had leaned into the “boundaries between reality and fiction blurring” angle a little more; i think it could’ve done some wild stuff with that. but as is i still enjoyed what it was going for.
if it has any issues i’d say... the end does feel a bit abrupt. you expect some big final confrontation about their relationship but it all happens inside takara’s weird headspace without the real yujin being present and you kinda feel like you missed a step in the finale and wish you had more of yujin’s actual perspective on all this. but perhaps it makes sense that you don’t get it. maybe even he will never know how he really feels since it’s so wrapped up under layers of Acting Hyperfocus.
i’m still not totally sold on chiba yudai in this. he’s very good as takara, especially his cuter, naive moments, and he is a good crier i’ll tell ya what, but takara is also supposed to be this like enchanting magnetic stage presence in every role he takes and. that part just doesn’t really come across in yudai’s performance. i’m not sure it ever could have come across bc that’s just not the vibe yudai conveys. it does take you out of it a bit.
the other minor problem is the fansubs which are good enough for your average jdrama but. this is not your average jdrama. it’s laden with parallels and subtext and complicated exchanges that even if i was fluent in the language might give me pause, but as someone reliant on subs there were several times when i just couldn’t really grasp what was being communicated at all. (some weird turns of phrase used by the subber too and they get one character’s name wrong every time it’s spoken which was driving me up the fucking wall.)
so maybe only really recommendable to people who don’t mind being a bit confused by media. in the end i found the nebulousness to be more of a pro than a con, honestly. it’s a fun show to sit and think about after you’ve finished an episode. like me going “damn.... being a theatre person seems exhausting”

oo there are a lot of interesting questions! i want to put a lot here but answer whichever you want! sorry lol. 3, 5, 10, 17, 18, 19, 25, 26, 32. 10 is so interesting bc i have definitely felt it with some especially yandere fics.
eeeee i will do the ones i didn't just answer for moni 🤭
3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?
this hasn't always been the case but lately my "ritual" for writing specifically smut is: on my phone, in bed, while nearly asleep. then i wake up the next morning and scroll back through it like 😳😳😳 good god lmfao. i think maybe the censors in my brain just kinda turn off bc i'm so close to sleeping???? idk but it's given good results imo 🫡
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
mmmm i swear by long walks when i find myself stuck on a scene. i'll put in music that fits the vibe and just let my brain rapid cycle through stuff until we find a solution that works! this has led to me writing on my phone while walking and almost getting hit by a car once or twice so uh.... try at your own risk lmao 😵‍💫
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end. Spicy addition: Questioner provides the passage.
ahhh welp 🥲 slightly sad times, here we go~
“My ex and I struggled a lot with…” “Sex. With me wanting it, with us having enough of it. I think it gave me a complex. I could be physically, you know, ready, but then as soon as she’d touch me I’d get in my head about everything and freak out and immediately want to stop.” “And then, I don’t know, I guess she was just trying to share her side, but… she would make me feel so bad about it sometimes. Because I was genuinely trying so hard but it was like I was never good enough.” “It felt like she didn’t want me anymore, not if there wasn’t sex. So I left.”
these clipped bits of jimin's dialogue from the shape of your body are entirely autobiographical 😬 so uh.... yikes!!! (but honestly, writing that story was very cathartic for me, and was basically a love letter to myself from a year ago that yes, there are people out there who won't rush you or guilt you about sex and desire, and can be understanding, and if the person you're with is not those things then maybe consider..... FINDING A DIFFERENT ONE..... ugh)
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
ahhhh i've always been drawn to writing since i was literally a child 🥰 i loved reading and so writing just happened as an extension of that. it's all i've ever really wanted to do! i started writing fanfic when i was like... 18-19? and then i took a break for damn near close to a decade lmao. this blog has been my triumphant return to the fanfic world~ but i've written bits and pieces of things in between, and i have a few novel ideas that i'd like to maybe write.... someday...... who knows! right now i'm just having fun with this little side hobby 💜
26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?
lol, speaking of side hobbies: i've done acting in my spare time for a good..... 15? years now, so i approach written characters the same way i would an acting role. as in, i try to understand what pieces of their personality feel "honest" or resonate with who i am as a person, and i use that as my "way in" to understanding how they tick and why they do what they do. and i do feel like all those character pieces live on inside me even after i'm done writing (or acting) them. so it's less trying to become someone else, and more like trying to understand how a character is similar to me or how i could relate to their perspective, even when it's wildly different from my own. if that..... makes sense dflgkjdfg I FEEL PRETENTIOUS I'LL BE QUIET NOW
weird questions for writers ask game!!

A Devil's Hunger: 1. 3. 5. 6. 11. 12. 15.
1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?
Oh it’s going to sound so cheesy, but I really think it was Venable as a character. I was so new to AHS when I first started writing this, so I didn’t really know where the rules and boundaries were set. This fic was written to explore those more artistic points of Sarah Paulson’s performance and the depth of Venable’s character. It was mostly based off of the tiny smirks, the eye squints, the tapping of her cane. And I know it’s not even really gotten into the proper, deep characterization bit yet, but it’s been incredibly fun so far. As for the perspective of the reader… I feel like a lot of times, especially in television/movies, we get to see what the characters’ cool superpowers look like on the outside, but we never know what’s going on inside of their mind or body when they channel those powers. So it was really fun trying to interpret that and explore the feeling of magic from the inside out.
3: What’s your favorite line of narration?
Oh gosh, I don’t know if I have a favorite line… this is an impossible question 🙈 I definitely like the bit where they’re playing the candlestick. I was really pleased with how that came out. And I also really love the bit where Mina smacks reader across the face. Sue me 🙈
5: What part was hardest to write?
It’s not been published yet 👀 let’s just say it’s sort of the biggest scene of the fic, the climax(ish), and I have about five different versions just sitting and mocking me because I can’t choose between them 🙈 of the bits that have already been published, I’d say probably the beginning of chapter seven, when reader wakes up in Mina’s bed. Because there were SO many ways that it could have gone, and I didn’t know how I wanted them to fuck 🙈
6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?
It’s multi-chaptered, for one. None of my other fics are (except for fearsome foursome, but I’ve only posted the first part of that so it doesn’t count yet hehe). I think it’s the longest fic I’ve ever written, and because of that I had a lot more freedom to take my time with the pacing of it. With a lot of my other fics, I always feel a pressure to keep them relatively short (read as: less than 20k). I try to cut out everything that isn’t absolutely necessary and keep them intentionally plot driven. With A Devil’s Hunger, I feel like I gave myself the space to explore the emotional impacts of all of the things that happen to the reader, and in that, I allowed myself to write in a way that I had never written before. Plus, there are a lot of tiny details (down to the types of plants mentioned) that will become really important later, so it was fun to be able to plan ahead and sprinkle all of that in.
11: What do you like best about this fic?
The piano and the plants. And also being able to write magical stuffs. I don’t know if it comes across well, but I’ve never done anything like that before and it’s very fun to try to interpret these different magic lessons and what they would feel like inside of the body/mind as they’re happening.
12: What do you like least about this fic?
How long it’s taken me to finish it 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️
15: What did you learn from writing this fic?
Never post a multi-chapter fic if I’ve not finished the entire piece.
Check the spelling of the characters’ names before I post the fucking chapter
Consistency is key
The validation of one person saying they like my writing is enough to keep me going and going and going. It’s an incredible feeling, and I am so grateful to each and every person who has liked or commented on the fic or sent me asks about it 🤍✨

1st person perspective - the lament of the narrator
[ the definition ]
the persona of any narrative piece (under the umbrella term of protagonist) recounting a series of events from their own point of view
usage of pronouns ‘i’ and ‘we’
[ why use 1st person? ]
immediate connection established between protagonist and author
many writers prefer to narrate in first person due to its accessibility. writers do not need to put extra time or effort into honing an authentic character voice as they could use their own voice as the narration. it also materialises the protagonist(s) to the authors and makes the job of describing emotions and otherwise abstract aspects of the human psyche a lot easier.
places the readers inside the narrator’s head
the readers read the world from the character’s point of view; this allows for an intimate portrayal of emotions and vulnerability. it also allows the audience to access the protagonist’s motivations and reactions to certain stimuli, pushing the impact of an incident and empathy of the readers to the maximum effect.
provides clear identity to the text
the story has the potential of being delivered without interruptions, which gives the readers a chance to be fully submerged into the world the narrator is creating.
makes it easier for the author to say what they want to
anything out of line the author may say through the narrator would be excused as being part of their character. it is noted that this is nearly impossible in third-person perspective given that a third-person narrative is expected to come with little to no bias.
[ why not use 1st person? ]
the story is limited to a single storyline/story thread
with a first person narration, it is much harder for an author to navigate any other sub plots or other dynamics when they are confined to the viewpoint of a certain character.
the narrative is at risk of being self-indulgent in the narrator’s emotion
one of the reasons i would never be caught dead writing 1st person: sometimes when authors write in 1st person, it slowly veers to the trajectory of a rant instead of weaving between reality and thought, which is what the readers want to see, and could easily turn into a unsolicited vent piece that can just be too much for the audience.
there tends to be the presence of a bias
the story is told from the perspective of a single character, which of course, almost always comes with a bias due to the character’s inherent likings and distaste, which creates a literary problem also known as the ‘unreliable narrator’.
it limits the sides to a story the audience is exposed to
like mentioned before, the narration can only really produce one fully refined storyline. it also simultaneously could not show any other thought of other characters or the befores and afters of an event. even within the event they were confronted with, they could only tell their side of the story, which cannot be taken for a full picture.
[ tips on writing 1st person? ]
establish a clear voice
the narration voice should be clear and consistent throughout but especially at the beginning of the story. the establishment of connection the readers and the narrator makes will most likely be instantaneous if this is done correctly, which draws them in more to the story.
use the active voice
establishing an active voice enables the narrative to hook its readers and make the whole story more interesting
first sentences
the first line should immediately highlight the narrator’s voice and thoughts, thus launching and engaging the readers directly to the main storyline. study famous literature first-liners written in 1st person.
avoid using too many personal pronouns
with over-expression from the senses of the narrator with terms such as ‘i heard’, ‘i see’, ‘i feel’ and so on, it takes away from a reader’s own perception of the scene and instead are being told what they could discover through the narrator’s lenses. instead, try using more descriptive language to set important scenes before depicting emotion.
only use the scene narration when necessary
use those ‘i’ phrases to retell something as a report (such as certain mundane backstories or origins) during transitions between scenes or important backstories that do not require a dedicated scene.
don’t rely on phrases like ‘i feel/i think’ to convey emotion and thought
try using a variety of literary devices, play with symbols, utilise colours, do anything to materialise, thus make realistic, the narrator’s internal mentality.
- - hope these helped out !!! <3333 - -
