More often than you think.

Shigaraki is always doing something, be making a plan, overthinking something or even playing lol. His brain never stops.

So, as all human beings, he needs a break, something that could take his mind out of this cruel reality he has to live in.

You.

He often finds himself laying on your thighs as some sort of escape of reality. He can simply just close his eyes and pretend that nothing is going on for a sec just for his head to finally quiet down

Kai is a very reclusive man, so for him to show any signs of "vulnerability" is a dangerous thing. So with this, plus his things with touch, it makes this way too much difficult to deal with...

But, if you are patient enough... there will be a time he will trust you enough to do that. And trust me, at first it won't be a pretty sign.

For him to lay his head on your lap it would mean he is done, absolutely done with everything and he needs to just let go for while. Allow his walls to crumble down.

Might let a tear or two escape his golden eyes but you won't see it thanks to him being turned away from you but also with a death grip on your thighs.

After this, Chisaki will have a lot of trust on you and your relationship will surely make a lot of upgrate. But again, it won't be often this guy allows himself to do that since he is "the man of the relationship and he need to be the one providing you comfort".

Music Taste:

I like to think Tomura listens to metal and heavy metal music such as: Slipknot, Metallica, Rammstein, etc. I do like to think he listens nu-metal music as well. (ex: KoRn, Static-X, Nine Inch Nails, etc.).

I feel like Tomura would secretly love pop music from the 2000's or like emo music from that era, it's mostly like MCR. It's hard to imagine him listening to crunkcore or scenecore stuff. I'm open minded with it.

If Tomura has a gf (s/o) he would be happy to share his selection or taste in music with you, he enjoys sharing his interests with the person he truly loves.

Tomura does still wear his usual outfit which consists of his long sleeve v-necked shirt and black pants that reveal his ankles. In his downtime or whenever the LoV doesn't have anything going on, he chills around base in a casual t-shirt and sweats.

Kurogiri is not Aizawa's villain to take down

he never was, and he never will be, if for no other reason than because Horikoshi hadn't decided what to do with Kurogiri when he was first introduced.

Kurogiri and Shigaraki are the only two villains that we're introduced to at USJ who are part of the final war. because Horikoshi hasn't figured out Kurogiri yet There's nothing between Kurogiri and Aizawa. They did not recognize each other then. At all. There's nothing there. This is later confirmed at Tartarus, when Aizawa and Mic are told the truth about Shirakumo and Kurogiri.

Horikoshi likes foreshadowing. If he had intended for Kurogiri to have been Aizawa's childhood friend from the start, there would have been some sort of hint of it back then. Okay, so then when did he decide on Kurogiri's origins? Probably by the time we got the remedial training arc, because that's the first time we really get Mic as a character. Granted, we don't get a whole lot of insight into him, because he's not the focus of the plot. But we do get some glimpses of who he is. He's smart and sarcastic and weird and doesn't seem to like conflict or at least awkward conversations and most importantly Aizawa trusts him.

Mic is Aizawa's other childhood friend, of course he trusts him- No. It's not just that. Here's the thing. Mic and Aizawa and Shirakumo are so intrinsically tied together that when we first learn of Shirakumo-through their memories-they are both present in each other's memories with Shirakumo.

Mic had to be allowed to become a full character because he was going to be part of Kurogiri's story.

I would almost make an argument that Kurogiri is more Mic's villain than Aizawa's even. Okay? Remember how I said Kurogiri doesn't recognize Aizawa? He recognizes Mic. Or at least according to Garaki he does. He confirms that they were after Erasure, so if they were watching Aizawa back when he was a student, they should know that all three of them were friends, right? But he refers to Mic as Kurogiri's friend. Present tense. Kurogiri still knows who Mic is.

And this was confirmed back in Tartarus when they first confront Kurogiri too. This time Kurogiri recognizes them both (he only indicates that he knows Aizawa from USJ btw). Aizawa starts talking to Shirakumo, who tries responding, but he's not able to actually break through until Mic also calls out to him.

Aizawa's never able to reach Shirakumo alone. He confirms that he kept trying while they were both at central hospital, but was never able to get a response. If Kurogiri was solely Aizawa's villain, then he would have been able to get through to him then. Shirakumo would have been the heroes secret ace in the hole during the final war, there would be no need for Monoma to have learned to use warp gate. There would have been no reason to use Mic as an actual character. There would have been no reason for Aizawa to ask Mic to be at the hospital. Because again, Aizawa trusts Mic. He knows he's not able to reach Shirakumo alone and is hoping Mic can.

And he's not wrong. When it comes down to it, and Kurogiri wakes up, there's a part of Shirakumo fighting for control too. Because Mic called out to him.

Kurogiri is not Aizawa's villain. He is, at the very least, both Mic and Aizawa's villain (and maybe it's just me projecting as a Mic fan, but I'm almost inclined to believe Mic is going to play a bigger role than Aizawa in this plot) But the last time we saw any of the three of them, they were together, so we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out for them.

When I first saw this sequence of panes, I thought, wildly and hopefully, that’s Shigaraki Tomura. That could be Shigaraki Tomura, someone who holds the quirk All For One and who, despite everything, is kind.

It reminds to be seen if Shigaraki Tomura can be stopped. As Deku says himself in Chapter 406, he still haven't come up an answer yet.

Since his first appearances, Shigaraki Tomura is infamous for being childish, talking about fights and battles as if he was playing video games. He's matured since then and his game metaphors have lessen in quantity, but his enjoyment of video games is still significant to his character.

But Shigaraki Tomura is also the one who created the League of Villains, a haven for outcasts and misfits. Twice considers the League the only place he belongs. Toga found life easier to live while with Shigaraki and others. The League is home to it's members, because Shigaraki made it that way.

Part of that is because Shigaraki Tomura is considerate of his teammates feelings and desire. This is core to Shigaraki - even as a child, he went out of his way to befriend those left behind, to include the children no one else wanted to play with. Underneath the layers of bitterness and rage caused by society's rejection, Shigaraki is still someone who cares a lot:

One thing I really like about the new chapter is that All For One kept Yoichi's severed hand.

Why? Who knows. All For One isn't allowed any real human emotions by the story. But still - All For One kept a severed hand, a memento of a lost one and whatever significance is embedded in that; it's evidence of what he's done - killed his brother - and a symbol of his new purpose - to hunt down the other remnant of Yoichi.

Years later, he would do the same for Shimura Tenko, when he gives the boy the hands of the slaughtered Shimura family. And he intends for them to have the same meanings and purposes - for Shimura Tenko to remember the massacre, and for that memory to spur him onward.

That AFO repeats this gruesome gesture with Tenko, essentially reproducing the same horror he experienced onto the boy who he intends to be his heir. This recontextualizes The Hands a bit - instead of just what seemed to be a sort of unique psychological torment imposed out of revenge against Shimura Nana's descendant, it's also AFO just raising Tomura after himself. It's still a incredibly fucked up cruelty, don't get me wrong, but now it feels less because specifically Shimura, and more because AFO wanted an successor that mirrors himself, down to the same traumatic trappings.

But of course, Shigaraki Tomura still greatly resembles Yoichi.

Overall, this panel of Yoichi does closely resembles the panel of Shigaraki from Chapter 221. Just— everything from the angle of the face and the direction of their gaze, to the position of the hand.

But based on Yoichi’s expression - the eyes, the slight smile, the whole demeanor - my first thought went to Shigaraki in Chapter 148, when he was telling Toga and Twice that he believes in them.

This is Shigaraki, revealing his face to Toga and Twice, when in the previous panels, it had seemed like he was insensitively ordering them around, without consideration for their feelings, telling them to work with Overhaul who had just murdered their friend Magne. But once the hand comes off - voluntarily, for the first time, facing them straightforwardly - we see a look that convey a lot of things - Shigaraki's resolve in taking down Overhaul, his trust in Twice and Toga, his sincerity in what he's saying. It's Shigaraki with probably his kindest expression in the entire manga.

It parallels the context somewhat too - in Yoichi panels, it had look at first like he was despondent, sad and weak, lamenting that he dependent and was unable to do anything against the evil that was his brother. But instead, with the face reveal, we're seeing Yoichi's own indomitable will and kindness, so much that he still sees the hopeful possibilities of All For One's power.

Both are victims of All For One, but both have always kept their strong sense of self and core sense and desire for kindness and justice.

dabi: i think since he's a bit of an asshole he would at first try to some sort of... tease you about it? he's so nonchalant and aloof about any crap in his life, he assumes everyone around him are the same. well, it sure does sound like he's straight up mocking you, so when he sees how much this whole situation truly hurts you he finally stops. he doesn't like seeing you in pain, he claims that he doesn't care, but yeah he does. also, out of the three he's the best companion for a revenge. don't get me wrong, he'll happily help, but he won't do anything himself. this has some deeper meaning actually rather than his laziness. he believes it is important to not take the satisfaction from you, he knows the importance of this firsthand. this revenge is yours to take, it's your moment of pride. it's his gift for you, if you will. he'll help with planning everything tho. he's calculating and calm when he needs to be; very patient and can teach you a thing or two about waiting for the exactly right moment. sometimes he's almost too slow for your liking, but on the other hand everything he'd planned for you goes exactly like he predicted, so you better listen. due to his sadistic nature, he's not above playing with the victim, and he will teach you that too. big fan of creating suspense, some sort of pressure. like those old hollywood noir films come to mind. he will absolutely help to scare your poor ex from the shadows, slowly driving him crazy with anxiety. not only is he proud of your dark side shining so brightly, but he really finds it fun. depends on you, if you want for things to get really violent or not, but he'll at least try to persuade you to let go and enjoy the ride. and if you listen to him, things can get messy (only slightly, bc dabi really enjoys clean work and he's too lazy to go after anybody else than this scumbag). shigaraki could be annoyed for a day or two, but... actually, no, he won't be pissed at all. great job you two.

shigaraki: oh. he's beyond excited. not because of your suffering, of course, but bc now The Real Game begins. has his own ways to comfort you, the most obvious one being trashing you ex with the most degrading insults you may only think of. will never let you think that was your fault, he literally feels his blood boil every time he hears something like that. you don't even have to ask him to help you, one day he's suddenly in your room with an insanely throughout plan and most batshit crazy glimmer in his eyes, so you better take the chance while you can. he finds great joy in helping you by planning everything for you, it really is a new game to him. but this time he's doing it for a friend, for someone he finds dear, so he kinda wants to take the burden off your shoulders. unlike dabi, he will get involved directly in this mess, he doesn't think he's taking anything from you - quite the opposite. he's given you the opportunity. and, he probably won't admit it, but he's really willing to do all the work for you, if it's too painful for you now. he doesn't want to, but he could. buuut, he'd still rather wait (even though he's not a fan of waiting) and you do the main act yourself. he's not patient at all tho. he also prefers the revenge to be fast and brutal. not a fan of theatrics, he's a straight to a point kind of guy. also, unlike dabi, he absolutely will go after every single one person involved, jesus christ even your ex's parents included, this whole thing gets soooo messy omg. at some point it really feels like the whole city knows you were cheated on. he doesn't find it embarrassing at all, there's nothing to be ashamed of. at the very end, you'll be the one who's having the last laugh, so he's kinda right. whether you like it or not, things will get really violent when he's involved, and he won't stop until the last person who had offended you is down. he's like a hell hound, some sort of a death reaper. and even if your ex thinks he can escape, because he's the last in shigaraki's list, well... not really. no one can run away from shigaraki tomura, and in the end you find great satisfaction in this knowledge.

spinner: the only decent one who at least tries (once) to convince you not to do it. he does this mostly on autopilot, because he's a considerate friend. he feels nothing towards that shithead, but he's worried that you would regret it later. actually, the only one that expresses his worries about you to you, verbally. he's surprisingly good at communicating his feelings, and he feels awful for you, he really-really does. he doesn't want to make it even worse (even though he really wants to throw some particularly heavy things at some faces). when he's finally sure you won't change your mind, he's all about business. he's not a big fan of a bloodbath, but he believes in power public humiliation holds. sadly, he knows it firsthand. he's very meticious with all the blackmail and he's great with timing. the cleanest work one could imagine (only dabi compares, but he has understandably more experience). he too is great in driving your ex crazy with anxiety, but in a much more subtle way. he won't scare anyone directly, but his actions create a very negative, anxious environment to your ex. the whole thing is building up rather slowly, but consictently. if you want things to go a little more bloody, spinner may ask dabi or shigaraki for help actually, without revealing the main reason. it's still less messy if the whole gang was involved, but now it's definitely much scarier for your ex. he will set traps and will get your ex recorded, he will collect every piece of information he could find, and he will reveal it at the right moment. he's not above some fake leaks either - everything will work. he would definitely make sure that almost everyone in city knows your ex's dirty laundry. it's so not pretty in general, bc believe it or not, spinner is great at understanding people and how they think and behave. he knows that the crowd is always hungry and all he needs to do is to throw it a bone. it may even look like he's not done much, because it's your ex's surroundings who are tearing him apart, not you or spinner. as i said, he's not at all as sadistic as those two above, but he too will find some sick sort of enjoyment at the end. he really, really knows how it feels, and he knows very well that death can feel like a much more merciful option. living with such hate is a lot harder, than just dying, and spinner just proved you that.

I really liked your post on Toga and Uraraka! I can't help but feel that because of that double standard, Uraraka simply isn't a deep enough character to understand Toga. I'm just not sure how Hori is going to pull off her getting through to Toga in a way that won't be cringey. Toga has been through so much and she's right when she says Uraraka knows nothing about her. Uraraka is pretty thinly drawn, imo, like Star Man was the one who actually convinced the civilian public to let Deku rest at UA. Uraraka just lacks impact.

First, thanks for stopping by. Glad we can all come together and appreciate the The Togachako Thematic Concept.

Really, I think this all could be easily resolved if we just spent a bit more time with Ochako in the story. But alas! We have what we have, and that’s an optimistic shonen manga. So in many ways I absolutely believe that Ochako’s success will likely be cheesy, but in a way that’s full of sincerity… if perhaps a little less developed than it could have been. However! I do have faith in Horikoshi overall to handle these characters carefully and to likely tie together how the Togachako, ShigaDeku, Toshinori-Deku-(Baku?)-Shigaraki, and Todoroki family (and possibly the M*A*S*H setup between team Bakugo Open Jeart Surgery and All for One) situations are about someone of security and privilege endeavoring to see things from a new perspective for the benefit of another party, and how sometimes just the act of doing so consistently and with conviction can be enough - even imperfectly, such a thing can be enough.

Even if we do credit Star-head man for convincing the civilians at UA, he only spoke up because Uraraka encouraged him to do so. That first step is the hardest part, or whatever it is exactly the manga says. (But yes, her speech is really cheesy. On the one hand, it makes her braver for doing it, and on the other… well, I think it’s best to meet the story with an open heart. It would be nice to live in a world where a teen girl’s pure-hearted speech really did inspire mass action.)

TLDR; you may have a point - the story may not take the route of showing us Ochako’s internal world so we believe she can connect with Toga (though this is also something I would prefer) and more about watching her actions and conviction as an example. In some ways, I think watching her be a hero in a way that matters totally separate from Izuku is admirable and enjoyable on its own, so I don’t have it in me to be upset if that’s all we get from her on that front.

…but yeah, it sure would be cool if Ochako was allowed to get into the ugly and dark emotional pit with many of the other heroes we’ve seen and spent at least as much time with - Iida, Katsuki, Shoto and his family, Kirishima, Mina, Toshinori - and come out the other side still with the conviction to save. She sort of did when she watched Manual lose his resolve or when Nighteye died, but that’s more about her desire to not keep failing folks (and stop seeing them be miserable and stressed like her parents) than it is connecting with Toga specifically. Maybe it’ll come back into play…

This kinda more like ended up being some of the League and their relationship with food + the whole master chef reader thingy. This was really fun to write so thanks, and this ended up being kinda long for HCs but I don’t care.

•Shigaraki is incredibly picky with his food, so you’re gonna have to accommodate that when you cook

•On the other hand it’s like, “You’ll eat what I make, I’m not making a whole nother meal just for you” and on the other hand it’s like “I’m not dealing with your complaints, what do you want to eat?”

•Shigaraki is the type who would live off chicken nuggets and frozen pizza if he was allowed to, but you keep him well fed and he actually really likes your cooking, even though he would never tell you that and he never asks for you to make it

•Dabi doesn’t really enjoy food, he just views eating as something he has to do to survive

•His sense of taste got all fucked back when he almost died and the food needs to be super spicy or strongly flavored for him to even taste it

•But you actually got him to sort of enjoy eating again, since you took note of his attitude towards food and his fucked up sense of taste and cooked accordingly

•You made him something that’s easy and fast to eat, but still tasty

•So now he just sometimes tells you to make him food like “Hey you twat, make me something to chew on”

•Toga loves  sweets and pastries and stuff even more than normal food, but we’re just talking about food for now so I’m gonna focus on that

•Toga is happy to taste whatever you make and she’ll certainly let you know her opinion

•She likes most of the stuff you make, but she can’t stand the stuff Dabi eats, it’s way too spicy for her

"I thought you could control your venom?" Hawks frowns.

"I can, but it's weird with vampires. Half or not." Dabi mutters, big brother and pack instincts apparently stronger than the vampire ones as he retreats into himself. "Learned that the hard way when Natsuo almost died."

Hawks' eyes widen a fraction more, choosing to ignore the noises coming from the couch. Dabi can deal with his brother's boyfriends later. "We are unpacking that later. Right now, you need to feed." A frown as he looks past the hybrid. "I've been meaning to ask, but couldn't any of you help?"

The rest of the League looks at each other in annoyance from where they're scattered around the living area.

"Doesn't work between vampires." Toga pouts, wishing she could help. "Just creates a hunger loop."

"He also won't let any of us help." Shigaraki rasps from the couch, eyes narrowing in his stare down against Dabi. "I'm the only one that's come close, but that was during the hate fucking and before Spinner and Natsuo."

Hawks frowns, looking back to Dabi who's already getting antsy again. "Why wouldn't you let them help? You have multiple willing donors."

"Literally all of us have offered." Magne huffs from the loveseat. "Unless it’s a failed recruit, he won't risk it."

A blink before his eyes return to Dabi. "Add that to the luggage cart of things to unpack, you have six—well five since Toga can't—five willing donors. Why would you let yourself get to this point?"

Dabi just growls, ready to storm out and risk the Hunters if it means not dealing with emotions. "I have my reasons."

Toga and Spinner, the two in the room with a strong enough sense of smell to call him on bullshit, look at each other knowingly and make Dabi's hackles raise.

"Don't-"

Spinner just holds up one of his boyfriend's hands as a shield, smirking at the smaller man's muttering. "He's worried about hurting us."

"I am not! I could care less!" Dabi snarls, letting his fangs grow more in warning, but not moving closer. He'd rather not fuck with a mate of a child of a decay goddess even if he has no qualms against fucking with the leader himself.

Toga takes advantage of her little sister status to snicker. "That's a lie!" Her nose twitches and she frowns. "Sort of? …Not the whole truth?"

Hawks frowns as he tries to catch Dabi's eyes. "Dabs?"

Dabi mutters something, toeing at the ground, but this time it's Hawks and Toga that hear him instead because Toga squeals as Hawks smiles softly.

"'Cause they don't eat enough as it is, huh?" Hawks hums, just snickering when he gets glared at for saying it out loud. "You guys know you can tell me when you need food, right?"

"Tell that to him. He's ridiculous about not eating enough himself because he's so worried about us." Shigaraki scoffs, taking his hand back from Spinner now to go back to laying against him.

Hawks is back to frowning. "Dabi-"

"Shut up." Dabi huffs, actually slipping past now to take his chances outside. For once, he's grateful for the scarring hiding how his ears burn as he seemingly disappears with a little help from his vampire side.

"Dammit." Hawks curses, taking note of his feathers to see if he can track the hybrid down. "I hate when he does that."

"Don't we all?" Compress sighs, draping himself across a chair. "Got feathers on him?"

"Yeah, I have one in the lining of his collar specifically for when he's being a pain, and ignore it otherwise." Hawks sighs in return. "I'll have him back by morning if you could make a shopping list by then."

"Already on it," Magne calls back, already having a notepad from Compress in hand. "Have fun. Be safe."

"Oh, we will." Hawks snickers, laughing as the others fake gag on his way out.

He must be really out of it if he thinks the back streets by Hawks' apartment are the appropriate hunting grounds to avoid the Hunter.

"Alright." Hawks sighs, changing his voice some so the poor fool Dabi's made into dinner doesn't recognize him as he lands around the corner. "Wipe his memory and get inside. I'll take it from here."

Turquoise eyes glare at him from the shadows as the hybrid growls, but he only stalls slightly in clean-up before moving to stomp up the fire escape to Hawks' penthouse. He could let himself be flown up but he doesn't have enough blood in him to afford feeling nauseous and he's feeling petty.

"Any reason you haven't been letting me help you guys?" Hawks asks once Dabi finally reaches his balcony and slinks through his door.

"…I'm still getting used to the fact that you actually want to help without expecting anything in return," Dabi grumbles, eyes flicking around like he still expects an attack. He hated how paranoid he got when he was hungry, but trauma will do that to you. "Anyway, you got blood bags or something? I'm too hungry to be feeding from you directly without some sort of padding and I'm pretty sure the bastard down there was drunk so it's gonna be worse when that finally hits."

Hawks curse, knowing Dabi gets hungrier like that. "I think there's still two in the fridge. How long did you go this time?"

Dabi stays quiet as he b-lines for the fridge before Hawks hears the microwave and the hybrid returns shortly while sucking on the tube part like a creepy Capri-Sun. "I think it's been a month? The bright side of the wolf genes I guess?"

"Yeah." Dabi nods, chewing on his makeshift straw absently. "Help me find a good enough disguise and I can probably manage a blood bar."

Hawks frowns, half-tempted, but he needs to confirm something. "…Will I need to run clean up after?"

Dabi scowls, but he knows Hawks asks with good reason. "…I don't know."

Hawks nods, having all the information he needs. "Let me get the work grime off of me and I'm all yours. Finish the bags in the fridge in the meantime and if you still think you might go feral, just return control of the collar to me." He shrugs as he starts stripping on the way to the bathroom. "Hunter strength should be enough to keep you back, but you'll probably want the reassurance."

Okay,  so,  little  notes  first:  A  lot  of  this  is  being  left  intentionally  vague  because  its  intended  to  be  more  of  a  group  thing  than  a  stand  alone   but  even  so  Fantasy  AUs  are  sooo  diverse  and  so  many  people  have  different  ideas  for  them  so  I  don't  wanna  lock  anyone  into  anything  should  someone  wanna  write  fantasy  verse  stuff  with  me  so  yeah,  nothing  here  is  set  in  stone  and  can  be  kinda  altered  as  needed  but  the  general  outline  of  Dabi's  fantasy  verse  is:  The  Todoroki's  are  a  royal/ruling  family,  the  Todoroki  house  is  generally  thought  of  as  the  main  ruling  power  throughout  the  fictional  lands.  Enji  is  the  current  king.

Toya's  Enji's  first  born.  He  was  the  heir  to  the  throne,  of  course,  but  he  was  also  a  little  shit  prince  who  liked  to  get  up  to  mischief  with  his  little  brother.  It  wasn't  exactly  unusual  for  Toya  and  Natsuo  to  sneak  out  of  the  safety  of  the  castle  and  go  exploring  in  the  neighboring  woodlands.  Unfortunately  a  spike  of  political  unrest  and  Natsuo  feeling  ill  one  day  made  for  a  lethal  combination  as  Toya  decided  to  go  out  to  play  in  the  woods  alone  that  day.  He  was  snatched  by  rebels  of  a  neighboring  village.  The  goal  was  to  use  Toya  to  force  Enji  to  comply  with  their  demands  at  threat  of  murdering  the  Prince. Enraged  by  this  king  Enji  put  in  place  is  own  plan  to  take  Toya  back  by  force.   No  one  knows  what  the  rebels  were  really  thinking  but  before  Enji  even  had  a  chance  to  assemble  forces  against  them  or  give  his  formal  answer  to  their  wishes,  Toya  was  grotesquely  murdered.  Much  to  the  shock  and  horror  of  King  Enji  and  Queen  Rei.  The  king  sought  bloody  retribution,  the  queen  fell  into  cataclysmic  despair  and  his  never  recovered.  Recovering  Toya's  body,  was  another  task  considered  failed  by  the  king  and  while  he  lead  the  siege  he  and  his  men  were  only  able  to  return  with  Toya's  bottom  jaw.  The  rest  of  the  boy  was  apparently  lost.  Some  claim  he  decayed  into  the  earth  and  ash,  or  maybe  the  rebels  took  and  hid  his  pieces  around  the  lands  as  a  final  insult  to  the  king.  The details of this gruesome and tragic event remain the subject of many different stories. This  is  where  we  enter  the  part  of  the  plot/verse  that  deals  with  Shigaraki,  AFO  and  Garaki.  In  this  verse,  the  Demon  Lord  is  in  fact  a  very  real  thing,  though  he  was  considered  vanquished,  his  spirit  sealed  in  an  alternative  dimension  many,  many  years  prior  by  a  fabled  hero  ( this  would  be  Toshinori,  ofc ) . Alongside  Toshinori,  King  Enji  had  been  a  massive  player  in  the  vanquishing  of  the  Demon  Lord,  who  had  dominated  the  lands  prior  to  the  era  of  relative  peace  known  by  the  world  today.  But  despite  the  L,  the  Demon  Lord's  devoted  servants  live  on,  scattered  across  the  kingdom  and  praying  ( Read:  actively  working )  for  the  revival  of  their  lord.  One  such  servant  is  Garaki,  a  necromancer  of  sorts  who,  as  evil  necromancers  do,  gets  up  to  all  kinds  of  twisted  misdeeds. 

One  of  these  misdeeds  was  to  steal young  Prince  Toya's  burned and broken body and cobble  him  back  together.  Supposedly he  had  hoped  to  integrate  Toya  into  his  legion  of  undead  monsters  but  Toya  seemed  to  have  other  ideas.  Ripped  back  into  the  world  of  the  living,  it  seemed  Toya  retained  some  pained version  of  his  former  consciousness.  He  became  rebellious  and  escaped  from  Garaki's  castle  into  the  lands.  From  here  Toya  would  attempt  to  return  home,  only  to  find  himself  assailed  on  several  occasions  by  villagers  who  perceived  him  as  a  monster,  due  to  his  heavily  patched  work  appearance.  He  was  captured  by  trafficking  merchants  who  sold  him  to  a  colosseum  where  gladiatorial battles  between  "lesser  races"  and  the  remnants  of  the  Demon  Lord's  previous  monster  army  where  carried  out  for  entertainment. 

One  day,  Toya  discovered  his  father,  the  king  would  be  attending  one  of  these  matches  and  desperately  tried  to  obtain  and  audience  with  him. However,  when  Enji  heard  word  that  there  was  a  monster  in  the  colosseum  "masquerading  as  his  son"  he  was  disgusted  and  publicly  renounced  the  "imposter"  and  the  colosseum  itself,  without  ever  actually  offering  Toya  his  audience.   Devastated  and completely broken, Toya turned savage to survive and  vowed  revenge  on  his  father.  He  participated in  a  bloody  insurgence  among  the  imprisoned  colosseum  fighters,  who  murdered  their  way  to  freedom.  Once  free,  he  eventually  returned  to  Garaki,  now  ready  to  join  the  undead  legions  and  their  new  leader,  Shigaraki  in  their  quest  to  lay  waste  to  the  kingdom.  Unknown  to  anyone,  all  of  this  has  been  a  clever  ploy  to  restore  to  Demon  Lord  to  power. So  yeah !!  Thats  the  basics.  I  HAVE  TONS  of  plot  bunnies  and  def  ideas  for  other  main  characters  in  this  AU  but  like  I  said  I  kinda  wanna  leave  a  lot  of  stuff  vague  and  adaptable  so  as  not  to  shut  anyone  out  of  the  verse  and  keep  things  as  useable  as  possible  since  there  are  so  many  different  fantasy  AU  takes  and  yeah,  I  wanna  be  able  to  edit  and  adapt  the  general  base  as  much  as  possible.

Fall 2022 Anime

Boku no Hero Academia Season 6 is the first season I’ve come into having already read the manga. Halfway through last season, I started reading the manga and have now caught up, so this is my first time starting a season while knowing exactly what’s going to happen. A plot summary seems silly at this point, so I’ll skip right to the meat of this write-up. In my opinion, the War Arc covered in this season is where the story peaked. This is by far my favorite arc, but it also ushers in some of the worst writing decisions I’ve ever seen in a series this popular. Luckily those baffling choices come in late enough in this arc that they don’t ruin it (they just ruin the rest of the series lol). I’ve long had a love-hate relationship with this show, because I enjoy it and it does a lot of things well (and the things it does well, it does really REALLY well), but it also pisses me off in a lot of ways (the treatment of the lady characters overall is my biggest gripe, though I will admit that this improves the longer the series goes on). But this season? So far? It’s fantastic. The animation is great, as usual. The fights are exciting, the little snippets of comedy (this is an overall serious arc though) are on point. This is also the arc that best displays the dark side of hero society, the corruption, the forgotten victims, the people who have suffered in this sort of world, which is fascinating. Shigaraki in particular makes an excellent villain, and that’s all I’m going to say about him to avoid manga spoilers (I could, and maybe will, write an entire essay about his character and how it’s developed in the manga). Since this arc is so damn good, BNHA is at the top of my list this season. A first for this series!

Blue Lock is a new sports anime, this one about soccer. Last season, while watching Ao Ashi (another soccer anime), I kept seeing Blue Lock mentioned in the comments as a “better soccer series”, and that it was getting an anime. Well here it is. While I do appreciate a good, straightforward sports anime like Ao Ashi, these days a sports anime has to stand out in some way to get me excited about it. Blue Lock stands out in two main ways: the high production values that give it outstanding visuals, and the absolutely bonkers premise (all the best high school strikers in Japan are gathered up, told to live 24/7 in a state of the art training camp, and are weeded out through grueling matches against each other and are encouraged to be traitorous assholes, all to arrive at one boy left to be the best striker in Japan). Right away, it separates itself from other sports anime with that setup. It effectively cuts out any and all drama that doesn’t involve the sport. These guys don’t go to school, so there are no scenes of them in class or interacting with characters not on their “team”. No scenes at home, involving family members. They don’t even have team managers or coaches. It really does boil the entire story down to these guys playing soccer. That’s a pretty bold move, but it pays off. And going back to those visuals, the animation quality is amazing. The character designs are vivid and interesting. The colors are just beautiful. The only complaint I have in this area is that the backgrounds are all pretty drab. This makes sense in context (as they’re living in a training facility), and actually might be a good thing, as it makes the colorful characters stand out even more. Speaking of which, all of them are fun, and the main character Isagi is easy to root for, even when his inner jerk is dragged out. All in all, Blue Lock is one of the better sports anime I’ve seen in a while.

Yowamushi Pedal has a new season. Watching it made me realize how much I missed this batshit crazy show. It’s a sports anime about bicycle racing, and it ranks just under Prince of Tennis as being one of the most unrealistic sports anime I’ve seen. From the guy who has named his pecs Andy and Frank (and literally talks to them, and they literally warn him of dangers!) to the skinny little guy who can immediately expand his torso like a balloon (something about being able to expand his lungs but it looks hilarious), to the tendency several riders have to go into a frenzy and race at top speed with their tongues hanging out of their heads (yes, dangle your tongues out while bicycling very fast through the mountains! Totally not a terrible idea!). Then there are the moments when a rider from one of the teams has to drop out of the race after doing something cool, for the benefit of the team (basically sacrificing himself). These are treated with all the drama and severity of literal death scenes, and it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. But above all of this, there’s the gloriously creepy villain Midousuji, who is hands-down the best villain in sports anime history. He’s gross and terrible and downright monstrous, but damn if he isn’t the most entertaining character in the show. The animation is fine, but the character designs are unique. This is a weird anime, but it’s never boring! Go into it expecting a wild, weird, fun time, and you won’t be disappointed.

Spy x Family is on its second cour, and there’s not much more I can say about it than I did a couple of seasons back. Following a highly skilled spy as he puts together a fake family consisting of a telepathic child, a wife who is a secret assassin, and now a precognitive dog, the show is adorable and very funny. The animation is stellar, with extremely expressive faces, lovely backgrounds, and characters that never fail to stay on model. It’s a little more fast paced than the usual “soothing feel good” anime, but for me it still falls into that category. Though the stakes are occasionally high (with characters being in actual mortal danger), the overall soft tone of this series assures us that the threats will always be neutralized, so there’s little tension in that regard. The charm of the show lies in its super likable cast and wonderful visuals. High on my watch list.

Raven of the Inner Palace is a unique series about a certain mysterious consort to the emperor in ancient China. Though she has the title of consort, she has little contact with the emperor and instead uses her magical powers to solve mysteries around the palace, talk to the dead, help spirits cross over, etc. Of course, when the emperor meets her, he decides to become her friend. The show is basically about their mystery-solving adventures with an ever expanding cast of support characters. It’s a relatively simple setup, but the ancient Chinese setting gives it a specific charm. The art is gorgeous, with breathtaking clothing designs and beautiful scenery. The music is also a high point, with excellent opening/ending themes and background songs. The Raven consort herself, called Shouxue, is an interesting character. She’s a bit of a tsundere, but in this case her standoffish attitude makes sense for the plot (she has a tragic backstory that necessitates being wary of others, especially the emperor). She softens as the series moves along, but she remains a powerful character. Her growing relationship with the emperor isn’t exactly original (of course they’re going to end up falling in love at some point - I can predict that without reading summaries of the light novels this is based on), but they have enough chemistry to make them fun to watch regardless. This is a slower-paced show than most of the other anime I’m watching this season, and it feels like a breath of fresh air.

Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch From Mercury could be called “the show that pissed off a thousand fanboys”, with a lot of people calling it “woke Gundam”. Apparently, if you have a female protagonist in a Gundam tv series for the first time since the franchise began in the 70‘s, it’s automatically woke (never mind that Tomino has wanted to have a female protagonist since the 90‘s). Add to that the *possibility* of a lesbian couple (and to be honest I don’t think the series will have the guts to follow through with it) and the fact that female characters in general seem to have larger and more important roles in the story, and you have an army of angry manchildren on your hands. In all seriousness, the show does have a different vibe from most previous Gundam series (but not all). If I had to choose its closest relative, I’d say its Reconguista in G, with its school-setting and relaxed atmosphere for the first chunk of the series. Most hilarious to me are the people assuming this series won’t get “serious” and have actual mobile suit battles (as opposed to the mobile suit “duels” that take place at the school). I mean, are they just pretending the prologue episode and all the shadowy political machinations don’t exist? Regardless, the show is great so far and would be an excellent starting point for people who never really got into Gundam but are curious about it. The animation is gorgeous and the plot is (at least for now) easy to follow. The two female leads are likable and have great chemistry. And yeah, it’s basically “Utena with giant robots”. If you’ve watched Utena, you’ll be the embodiment of that Leonardo Dicaprio meme where he’s pointing at the screen while you watch the first couple of episodes. But hey, if a plot setup is good, why not use it again in a different setting? Hell, let’s have Utena in feudal Japan! Utena in the wild west! Utena in a zombie apocalypse! I’m here for it.

To Your Eternity Season 2 opened on a surprisingly weak note for such an excellent series, but it’s already sorted itself out. The show follows an immortal entity called Fushi who can take the form of any living being it comes into contact with (after that being has died). Fushi most often uses (and generally prefers) the form of a young man, so I’ll be using he/him to refer to the entitiy. The series is, basically, about Fushi moving through the world and learning about life while also fighting creatures called the Nockers that keep attacking him for unknown reasons (most often harming the humans around him in frankly horrific ways). Each person that Fushi comes to know eventually becomes another form he can take (as he is immortal, of course he outlives everyone). The interesting thing is that he can use whatever skills that person (or creature) had, leading to at least one person spending years cultivating certain skills so that Fushi would have access to them after she dies. Unlike with season one, season two skips large chunks of time, several generations in a single episode at one point. At first, I was a little annoyed that we were not getting to spend much time with the characters (in one infuriating case, a major character from season one returns only to almost immediately die). Season one’s emotional beats were so powerful because it let us get to know and grow to love the human characters before they inevitably died. But! Thankfully, season two has now settled into a story arc and is letting us grow to love a new set of characters. And yes, they will eventually die, like always, but the point of the story isn’t “will these characters die or not?”, it’s “what effect will these characters ultimately have on Fushi?”. And figuring that out is what makes the series so endearing.

Golden Kamuy has a new season (I think this is season four, but honestly it’s hard to keep up with all these shows after they get past season two). From the start of season one, this has been one of my favorite modern anime series. It has a strong plot, unique character designs, a compelling setting, and some of the most bizarre but charming humor I’ve come across. It’s refreshing in the way it never sexualizes its female characters, but instead chooses to objectify its large assortment of buff, handsome male characters with frequent nude scenes that seem to linger on their well-toned bodies. Despite this, the show is firmly seinen (aimed at an adult male audience). It’s actually been fun to watch the guys in the comments questioning their sexuality in real time. I don’t care what your sexuality is, you’re going to walk away from this show with at least a minor crush on Ogata or Sugimoto. Probably both. Fanservice aside, the show is just wild at times. It can get brutally gory, then it can be hilarious, then it can make you cry. It has a Gintama-like quality in that it does lots of different things very well. If you’re not watching this series, you’re missing out (something I think I’ve said about it before, but it bears repeating).

Chainsaw Man is definitely this season’s most hyped show. I had avoided the manga because, just from looking at the covers and some other art, it looked like it was full of unnecessary fanservice and that the lady characters were highly sexualized. Before the anime started, I did a little googling to see what the general opinion was. From everything I read, most people (regardless of gender) had generally positive opinions on how the female characters were treated, so I decided to try the anime. The basic setup is that there are creatures called Devils that can embody certain things, like a Gun Devil or a Chainsaw Devil or a Bat Devil. A young man named Denji, who is probably one of the most “down on his luck” protagonists I’ve seen in a long time (he’s broke, orphaned, pratically homeless, practically starving, and has already sold one eye, one kidney, and one testicle just to survive) ends up combining with the only thing he really has in the world: his pet Devil dog. This gives him the power of the Chainsaw Devil, which he can transform into to fight other Devils. He’s quickly recruited by a group of government sanctioned Devil Hunters who are searching for the powerful, menacing Gun Devil. The setup sounds like typical shounen action fare, but the series goes a bit darker than I expected fairly early on, and maintains a unique atmosphere. Denji is fun to root for just because he came from such a humble place, but his lack of social skills makes him come across as a jerk at times. It’s understandable, given his background. Every shounen action series has its own “thirst trap” character that’s super popular with the ladies in the audience, and this one has Aki. The anime wisely spends the majority of its budget on subtle little movements he makes, like lighting a cigarette or taking a drink of coffee. I think there’s a whole animation team dedicated to the flow of his hair when he wears it down. As there should be. Overall, the series has a strange vibe to it but it’s highly entertaining.

Thoughts on Episode 122 (S6 E9)

Team training, legless legends, and regretful reflections. Let’s talk about it

Spoilers for the episode, light spoilers for the manga but I put them separately at the end and label them

This episode starts at 100 and doesn’t let up for a second (very intense) but is it weird to say I felt the very final moment just… didn’t hit as hard as I’d hoped?

Of course, “thing not being as cool as it could have been” is certainly not the end of the world. I got chills in the lead up, especially the “in that moment I didn’t think” portion, I was just expecting some sort of noise at the moment of impact, or like a flash to jolt the audience. You know, those usual anime tricks they do to make us feel what the characters feel

I’m getting ahead of myself, let’s start the the beginning (I’ve heard it’s a very good place to start)

Starting the episode with Aizawa just casually cutting off his leg was so intense. Definitely set the mood of “things are serious now”

I like the way they did the eye thing. I think this whole season has done a good job balancing violent moments without making them too graphic

I also like that they cut Shigaraki having two bullets (in the manga he shoots two. One hits Aizawa and the other is destroyed by Bakugo). It always felt a little pointless, so I’m glad they made it more straight forward. Now they just have to hope the manga never references that second bullet lol

Continuing with that serious tone, the bit with the rest of the class just standing in shock, totally helpless, was so good. Small moments like that really make you feel the weight of questions like “did we do the right thing?”

Contrast this with how chill and lighthearted the Deku training flashback was and you’ve got some great juxtaposition

“What’s todays date” -Everyone after waking up from a nap

They added teen Bakugo grabbing child Deku’s hand! Unexpected but very cool (that imagery is based on Volume 29’s cover! It’s not originally in the story but I’m so glad it is now)

The voice over leading up to that final moment was so good. Everything was so chilling; I was on the edge of my seat despite knowing what happens lol

However, like I said, I’m not totally sold on how they did the actual stabbing scene. It just felt like “oh, ok, it’s a still shot of something. Oh he’s getting impaled?!” And then credits. Idk I just thought they’d take the chance to really tug at the heartstrings and make the audience sit there in shock, especially with how they handled other emotional climaxes this season so far

And I know it’s not a big deal (it’s still a very shocking scene), it’s just that for how good the rest of the episode was, you’d think they’d want to hammer it home with the literal last thing you see

When people think the war war arc, there are three moments that come to mind (Twice’s death, Bakugo getting stabbed, and a third one that will probably happen in 2 episodes). They nailed the weight and emotion of Twice’s scene, so I guess I was just hoping they’d put extra emphasis on Bakugo’s. Give it that extra oomph

They changed the ED! I like how they made a “Deku version” of that Vol.29 cover (grownup Deku reaching out to little Bakugo). Unlike the Twice one it didn’t make me ugly-cry, but then again I think it’s because I expected this one. The Twice came out of nowhere, so it hurt even more

Overall? Good episode, just a shame they didn’t do anything to really make it go “plus ultra” at the end

LIGHT MANGA SPOILERS

I HATE that they had to remind us about the whole “if you keep doing this kind of damage you won’t be able to move your arms” thing. I know this flashback was in the manga, but it was stupid there too because IT NEVER COMES INTO PLAY. Why remind us of this risk only to say a few chapters later “actually that was wrong, you don’t have to worry about it”. I guess I was just hoping they’d do something to mitigate how awkward that will end up being

This whole episode, despite being very good, was also bittersweet because it’s the start of Horikoshi’s… new type of storytelling. By that, I of course mean seeing important moments after the fact as a flashback. It’s fine for now since this is the first time it’s happening (and a technique like this is fine in moderation), but as the season goes on we will see this more and more. Like… we will definitely still have some really good episodes coming up, but it just reminded me the villain hunt is right around the corner. I am praying so hard that someone on the production team reworked the entire arc to make it better

Yea I think hori is going in that direction too but it should have had a better set up back in the plf war. Plus with all the nonsense in between the 2 wars, we currently have a mess on our hands.

The whole Villain arc really confused me honestly, because I very much expected Hori to use it to distance the LoV from AfO. To give the League, and Shigaraki in particular a set of goals that were better then AfO's.

And to an extent Shigaraki does, sort of have better goals then AfO--because he wants his pals to be happy, but it's in a very 'shrugs shoulders' do what you want, sort of way. The only real drive we've seen Shigaraki have is for destruction, the one thing AfO groomed him for his entire life.

It also kind of makes Shigaraki look dumb. I was kind of shocked that he had his flashback, and in said flashback he hears AfO say he could have manipulated his memories, and remember AfO being incredibly cruel to him, and not start to question his 'master' more.

Realistically, I guess it makes sense, but from a story perspective I don't think it works well. Mostly because by the time Shigaraki gets taken over I don't really see much of a difference between him and AfO. Shigaraki and AfO want almost exactly the same thing--end Heroes and destroy everything. Their only differences are that Shigaraki's goals are those things +friends, while AfOs are that +personal world domination.

When Shigaraki got possessed nothing really changed, Shigaraki would have tried to kill everyone regardless--was already targeting Izuku. It doesn't matter who the Heroes lose to because the outcome is nearly the same and it becomes a battle of pick your poison. Especially when you consider that Shigaraki's original plan was to let the PLF take over once he destroyed everything, so it really would have been Dictator (megalomaniac flavor) Vs. Dictator (eugenics flavor).

I also just feel like the Hero/kids stories and the Villain stories are to disconnected. Hori could have introduced more stuff in the MVA arc and it still wouldn’t have helped if nothing touched on during those chapters was backed up by stuff in the Hero chapters. 

Take the whole Mutant Quirk discrimination. Before the Villain arc, it was there, but only through some one off insults that were treated no differently then how those same insults (lizard, dog, monkey) would be seen today. They were rude, sure, but didn’t seem to be that terrible. 

But the MVA arc had a cult that dressed like KKK members, who wanted to kill all mutants. I’m not sure how much Hori knows about the history of the KKK and how much using that aesthetic would change the tone of the story for western (specifically American readers), but it very much does. Now those rude, but ultimately harmless insults become slurs, and due to the KKK references, implied to be on par with the N-word. Suddenly Shinsou, Dabi and Shoto have become retroactively people who use slurs--which I don’t think was Hori’s intent.

But this is even more of an issue because when we go to the kids/Heroes, this doesn’t even seem to be a problem. 

Some people try to say that it’s because the kids are sheltered and blinded by Hero worship, but that doesn’t make sense narratively or from a RL perspective. Sure Izuku and the non-mutant characters could be blind to this discrimination, but the mutant kids would not, and it doesn't make much sense that they wouldn’t bring it up on occasion. Like say, Ojiro being pissed that Shinsou called him a slur, and Shinsou needing to apologize to him for it. Or one of the Mutant kids being annoyed, but unsurprised that Gang Orca was picked by the HPSC to play the villain during their test. 

And if Hori really does want to present it as the kids being ignorant/blinded by Hero Society, then the narrative has to play into that, by showing that they are ignoring obvious issues, and later giving them a revelation about it. 

None of it has been framed that way even when it was eventually brought in the Hero/kids story. When Izuku saved the Mutant woman he didn’t realize anything about the oppression of Mutants--he acted the same way he would when saving anyone. He doesn’t even think or comment on that fact Mutants are being thrown out of shelters based solely on appearance. It just feels really shallow and off. 

And this is a similar issue in all of the villains backstories/reasons for being villains. Those problems just aren’t shown as problems--even in the background, when we focus on the main characters. In fact a lot of what we see on the Hero side contradicts what the LoV say. So the LoV’s issues have become very tell don’t show, or worse, tell and show contradicting material. It’s just a mess and it makes me sad because it’s such a waste of potential.

𝐅𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐘 𝐀𝐔

Okay,  so,  little  notes  first:  A  lot  of  this  is  being  left  intentionally  vague  because  its  intended  to  be  more  of  a  group  thing  than  a  stand  alone   but  even  so  Fantasy  AUs  are  sooo  diverse  and  so  many  people  have  different  ideas  for  them  so  I  don't  wanna  lock  anyone  into  anything  should  someone  wanna  write  fantasy  verse  stuff  with  me  so  yeah,  nothing  here  is  set  in  stone  and  can  be  kinda  altered  as  needed  but  the  general  outline  of  Dabi's  fantasy  verse  is:  The  Todoroki's  are  a  royal/ruling  family,  the  Todoroki  house  is  generally  thought  of  as  the  main  ruling  power  throughout  the  fictional  lands  of  Musutafu  ( Now  a  kingdom,  rather  than  just  a  city ).  Enji  is  the  current  king. 

Toya's  Enji's  first  born.  He  was  the  heir  to  the  throne,  of  course,  but  he  was  also  a  little  shit  prince  who  liked  to  get  up  to  mischief  with  his  little  brother.  It  wasn't  exactly  unusual  for  Toya  and  Natsuo  to  sneak  out  of  the  safety  of  the  castle  and  go  exploring  in  the  neighboring  woodlands.  Unfortunately  a  spike  of  political  unrest  and  Natsuo  feeling  ill  one  day  made  for  a  lethal  combination  as  Toya  decided  to  go  out  to  play  in  the  woods  alone  one  day.  He  was  snatched  by  rebels  of  a  neighboring  village.  The  goal  was  to  use  Toya  to  force  Enji  to  comply  with  their  demands  at  threat  of  murdering  the  Prince. Enraged  by  this  king  Enji  put  in  place  is  own  plan  to  take  Toya  back  by  force.   No  one  knows  what  the  rebels  were  really  thinking  but  before  Enji  even  had  a  chance  to  assemble  forces  against  them  or  give  his  formal  answer  to  their  wishes,  Toya  was  grotesquely  murdered.  Dismembered  and  burned,  much  to  the  shock  and  horror  of  King  Enji  and  Queen  Rei.  The  king  sought  bloody  retribution,  the  queen  fell  into  cataclysmic  despair  and  his  never  recovered.  Recovering  Toya's  body,  was  another  task  considered  failed  by  the  king  and  while  he  lead  the  siege  he  and  his  men  were  only  able  to  return  with  Toya's  bottom  jaw.  The  rest  of  the  boy  was  apparently  lost.  Some  claimed  eaten  by  animals,  others  claim  he  decayed  into  the  earth  and  ash,  or  maybe  the  rebels  took  and  hid  his  pieces  around  the  lands  as  a  final  insult  to  the  king.   This  is  where  we  enter  the  part  of  the  plot/verse  that  deals  with  Shigaraki,  AFO  and  Garaki.  In  this  verse,  the  Demon  Lord  is  in  fact  a  very  real  thing,  though  he  was  considered  vanquished,  his  spirit  sealed  in  an  alternative  dimension  many,  many  years  prior  by  a  fabled  hero  ( this  would  be  Toshinori,  ofc )  who  then  disappeared  from  the  lands  into  obscurity.  Alongside  Toshinori,  King  Enji  had  been  a  massive  player  in  the  vanquishing  of  the  Demon  Lord,  who  had  dominated  the  lands  prior  to  the  era  of  relative  peace  known  by  the  world  today.  But  despite  the  L,  the  Demon  Lord's  devoted  servants  live  on,  scattered  across  the  kingdom  and  praying  ( Read:  actively  working )  for  the  revival  of  their  lord.  One  such  servant  is  Garaki,  a  necromancer  of  sorts  who,  as  evil  necromancers  do,  gets  up  to  all  kinds  of  twisted  misdeeds.  One  of  these  misdeeds  was  to  gather  up  as  many  of  young  Prince  Toya's  body parts  as  he  could  and  cobble  him  back  together.  Supposedly he  had  hoped  to  integrate  Toya  into  his  legion  of  undead  monsters  but  Toya  seemed  to  have  other  ideas.  Ripped  back  into  the  world  of  the  living,  it  seemed  Toya  retained  some  twisted  version  of  his  former  consciousness.  He  became  rebellious  and  escaped  from  Garaki's  castle  into  the  lands.  From  here  Toya  would  attempt  to  return  home,  only  to  find  himself  assailed  on  several  occasions  by  villagers  who  perceived  him  as  a  monster,  due  to  his  heavily  patched  work  appearance.  He  was  captured  by  trafficking  merchants  who  sold  him  to  a  colosseum  where  gladiatorial battles  between  "lesser  races"  and  the  remnants  of  the  Demon  Lord's  previous  monster  army  where  carried  out  for  entertainment. 

One  day,  Toya  discovered  his  father,  the  king  would  be  attending  one  of  these  matches  and  desperately  tried  to  obtain  and  audience  with  him. However,  when  Enji  heard  word  that  there  was  a  monster  in  the  colosseum  "masquerading  as  his  son"  he  was  disgusted  and  publicly  renounced  the  "imposter"  and  the  colosseum  itself,  without  ever  actually  offering  Toya  his  audience.   Devastated  and completely broken, Toya  vowed  revenge  on  his  father.  He  predicated  in  a  bloody  insurgence  among  the  imprisoned  colosseum  fighters,  who  murdered  their  way  to  freedom.  Once  free,  he  eventually  returned  to  Garaki,  now  ready  to  join  the  undead  legions  and  their  new  leader,  Shigaraki  in  their  quest  to  lay  waste  to  the  kingdom  of  Musutafu.  Unknown  to  anyone,  all  of  this  has  been  a  clever  ploy  to  restore  to  Demon  Lord  to  power.  So  yeah !!  Thats  the  basics.  I  HAVE  TONS  of  plot  bunnies  and  def  ideas  for  other  main  characters  in  this  AU  but  like  I  said  I  kinda  wanna  leave  a  lot  of  stuff  vague  and  adaptable  so  as  not  to  shut  anyone  out  of  the  verse  and  keep  things  as  useable  as  possible  since  there  are  so  many  different  fantasy  AU  takes  and  yeah,  I  wanna  be  able  to  edit  and  adapt  the  general  base  as  much  as  possible.

random lov headcanons pt.2

(bc @ermnmika with their post reminded me i have some unfinished business so thank you for that and for credit!)

pt. 1

toga

- she is highly interested in fashion. she has no money for a laptop or even a decent phone, and it’s dangerous anyway because they might get tracked down. so it’s only stolen magazines she learns from. she’s always two steps behind, but her imagination is what is truly inspiring.

- very organized. has a very strict schedule. hates it when it’s noisy in a hideout and she needs to go to bed. toga is a morning person. literally everybody in the league is not, so they hate her for it, but it’s not her fault they stay till like 4 in the night. 

- her room is second cleanest of all members, first one being kurogiri’s room.

- is very athlethic. one of the most physically strong members of the league, even if it doesn’t look like it. not only is she flexible, she also has great stamina.

- toga hates coffee. not a fan of tea either, but coffee is like her personal enemy. she hates the taste of it with passion, and she finds the smell sickening. repeats often how unhealthy it is, usually to dabi or compress, who consume it in a truly unhealthy amount, so she’s kinda right. she likes juices though, pomegrante one is her favourite.

- she’s not at all bubbly and optimistic. quite the opposite: she’s very calculated, realistic and vindictive. if you do something bad to her, she’ll wait until it’s just the right time to get her revenge. she’s like that because her life on the streets before league was not easy to say the least. she had pretty bad childhood and she’s in her teens now. it’s not that she only pretends to be that smiley happy girl. she now often is happy. she wants to smile not because of the excitement or to intimidate somebody, but because she kind of really wants to.

- she can make injections. it’s sort of obvious, but she’s really the best when someone needs some meds for a fever. compress can do them too, any of them can if needed, but she’s just the quickest and does them painlessly. she’s also good in medicating others. like she knows a lot, and it’s usually her who takes care of a sick member.

- very patient. to an enormous degree. because of her past on the streets, when she needed to be as cool headed as possible, she stays calm even when others are freaking out or want to go berserk. she needs a lot to get truly angry. so if she gets angry, there’s no way to escape. there will be blооd, and she doesn’t care if it’s midorya, stain or even shigaraki himself. like, don’t piss her off. just don’t.

- her love languages are gift giving and quality time. she likes to make small gifts and hand them to members for no reason. she can also like just sit near somebody silently and it won’t feel awkward. she has very calming presence and she likes to spend her time with her loved ones. she bonds through doing little stupid thing, like painting shigaraki’s nails or reading to twice. it’s very meaningful to her.

- she plays guitar. she’s very good at it actually, but she thinks she has no voice, and is very shy to sing. she can do even the most complicated chords, because of the constant training. together with dabi they work very well, with him singing and her accompanying. 

- despite her young age, she was kurogiri’s right hand, when he was still with the league and in charge. she’s that dependable and organized. shigaraki values her opinions on missions a lot too.

- hates flowers. not great with plants, everything dies slowly and painfully. animals are scared of her too. she always says it doesn’t offend her. it does.

- she’s surprisingly not touchy, at all. if you try to hug her, she’ll probably dodge and will ghost you for the rest of the day. she has huge trust issues, even though they might be not so obvious. you need to be her friend for her to trust you fully. she’s fine with hugging lov members or dreaming about hugging izuku or ochako. otherwise, she doesn’t like it. don’t touch her.

twice

- that one “movie nights!” enthusiast. literally everybody except him hate those stupid movies, pointing even the smallest mistakes (dabi) whining about how it’s all a lie (spinner) or just straight up leaving (shigaraki). toga, hawks and compress are the ones who usually stay.

- enjoys going out, but does not drink, ever. dabi, toga and shigaraki know why and never press. that one time when he relapsed was right after magne’s death, and he was not a fan. so they even help him when he thinks he wants to. they’re usually near to stop him.

- you can’t gaslight him because his memory span is as long as of a goldfish. he’ll agree with anything. he has low expectations of himself anyway. 

- wants to learn how to play drums. he sort of does, using his doubles, but the result is disasterous. sometimes he jokes they could form a band, consisting of toga, compress and dabi, and this being their sort of lawful life. literally nobody laughs.

- after his fuck-up with overhaul he asked shigaraki to dust his body if he dies. it’s sort of his last wish, to be close to those who he loved.

- he hates the cold weather and rains and such. he’s suffering from migraines, since they depend highly on weather. he’s not available on those days. 

- likes to hear shigaraki or toga read to him. he actually has huge problems with reading, it’s just hard for him. he also likes to listen to their voices. it relaxes him.

- every one of them has nightmares, but his are arguably the worst, because he has troubles with distinguishing them from reality. few times he attacked shigaraki and dabi, because he thought he was still dreaming and they wanted to erase him. he’s very afraid they all hate him (they do not) so it translates straight into his nightmares.

- because of his doubles, he’s usually the one who cleans the whole hideout, under dabi’s command.

- he never was on a date. unlike others, he sort of wants to. he wants this parts of “normal” life he never had. it stings, that there were never a person that truly liked him for being him. he’s very afraid of being alone and dying alone. 

- his favourite people to spend time with are toga and hawks. separately, because toga does not like hawks, even though she hides it very well. 

spinner

- he can understand english and even speak a bit, because of how many games he played. his vocabulary is rather poor. and from 2000s.

- doesn’t believe in medicine in his department. he thinks because of his lizard quirk his body should be able to heal on it’s own. in reality, it’s just his one huge insecurity, being that he was told not only his quirck is useless, but he’s also ugly. he pisses toga off to no end with this, not letting her checking on him. he really wants to be as cool and edgy as dabi and shigaraki, so he does this sort of thing.

- he adores warmth, so he’d be near dabi’s side constantly, if not for his death wishes. so he stole a heater and is still pissed about it.

- literally every one of them except dabi stole that heater from his room at least once.

- he’s the best with any electronic devices. he can repair anything with a fork. if you ask him how he did that, he won’t answer. he himself doesn’t know. it just kinda works.

- he can smell with his tongue.

- if he’s not in his room, he’s probably in shigaraki’s room. if he’s not in shigaraki’s room, he’s on a hunch for new games to play wih shigaraki. he spends most of his time in his room, even though they like different kinds of games they always play together.

- his room is second messiest, next to shigaraki’s room. kurogiri often told them to clean it. they didn’t listen. then it's dabi’s turn, and after he’d almost burned their shit alltogether, they usually clean together too.

- he can live with no water bc of his lizard anatomy. well, he still needs it, it’s just that unlike others he can go without it for months while being completely fine. 

- he dislikes music in itself, it’s too hard on his ears. he likes the singing parts tho.

- he is kinda the cook of the group, so no surprise he knows who loves what. he knows about the allergies too. he tries his best, but they hate his dishes anyway. when he says and he’s done, do yourselves, they start to whine. it’s hilarious. 

- he too asked shigaraki to dust his body if he dies. shigaraki is honestly so done with them by this point.

- he can sort of breath under water. he likes water and sand and summer in general. he also swims very fast, like very.

Gonna start the week off with more bkdk moments that aren't talked about enough! Similar to my previous post, here's another (from Chp. 274):

I found the first few panels interesting because it felt like I was witnessing things through someone else's eyes (i.e. not Deku's). I pictured the droves of bodies moving in slow-motion, their cries lessened to background noise. Those eyes have singled Midoriya out among the panicked crowd of civilians and heroes, watching his next move. And just as the boy was about to run, a voice cuts through the chaos. I remember being surprised to realize it was Bakugou's!

He was able to deduce that Midoriya was Shigaraki's target the same time the other boy did--despite standing farther away from Burning. Clearly, he'd been paying close attention. Not only that, but he immediately knew what Midoriya would do. He knew that Midoriya would separate himself from the group in order to protect everyone else, so he reminds the boy that he too, was someone the others could protect--"because heroes are supposed to protect everyone". Even crazier was that Bakugou follows him.

Those words and actions, coming from the same kid who used to believe that being a hero meant facing enemies head-on and winning. Winning alone, without anyone's help (especially wide-eyed, green-haired twerps).

Now Midoriya's off to lure Shigaraki his way and instead of leaving him be, Bakugou joins him. Because changing Midoriya's mind was never an option.

But, why Bakugou? Why not Todoroki or Uraraka--or literally anyone else? Why does Bakugou care?

He said it himself. He was one of only a handful of people that understood One for All. Not only that, but he had a personal score to settle with Shigaraki/All for One--his kidnapper and the cause of all his guilt regarding All Might's retirement. Furthermore, those complicated feelings that he's had towards Midoriya since they were kids were still very much present.

BUT there is so much growth, here. Bakugou's now acknowledged that perhaps he was the one who'd been lacking all along. That he projected so much of his own weakness and insecurity onto Midoriya because he was unable to point a mirror at himself.

Even moreso, Bakugou has come to realize that a hero's true strength lay in their service. In what they could do for others. Saving to win. While I believe Midoriya influenced this change in Bakugou, he has also made the idea his own.

"When you guys are in trouble, I'll save ya; and when I'm in trouble, you cover me, okay?"

At this point in the manga, those iconic, game-changing bkdk scenes have yet to play out. Bakugou still hasn't "risen" (pun intended) to this full potential nor has he sorted out all the things he's wanted to say to Midoriya and apologized.

But something compelled him to follow Midoriya back there. Perhaps he had his own agenda to fulfill, or maybe he sensed that his childhood friend--who has zero regard for his own safety--would be in danger and needed someone who could keep up and watch his back...

...And that someone could only be him.

Bonus:

I adored these brief interactions right before it finally hit Midoriya that Katsuki "Kacchan" Bakugou was at his side and willingly following him into battle. Like, up till that point Midoriya didn't even question Bakugou's presence. It must have felt so natural, sharing intel and strategizing with the other boy. It really warmed my heart to witness how slowly, but surely, they've begun growing beyond their tumultuous past and into a future where they could become a formidable hero duo.
