I was playing around with expressions and OMG, I think I unlocked something???

It was mostly from yesterday’s post, I liked the way I drew Pizza Head so I decided to try drawing him again (since it’s been a while) AND GOD I LOVE THESE‼️‼️‼️ Seriously started out rough but then I just kind rolled with it! I like it! I like it a lot‼️ 😆😆

Some small things that happened recently, other than the llamas’ shearing:

1. I traded a bottle of my freshly-made elderflower syrup (and some plum chutney from last summer) for a jar of wild peach jam and some homemade pâté, and the chickens went WILD over the latter. I gave them a tiny bit for a taste and then had to retreat to the kitchen to eat the rest because they kept jumping up and down trying to steal it

2. I told the librarian a while ago that I was hoping to rehabilitate the former little pond in my pasture and she came over with her husband and daughter to give me a pond liner they had in their garage (they wanted to create a pond in their garden and procrastinated for 15 years basically.) A very nice gift!! But the highlight of their visit was when we went to the pasture to say hello to the baby llamas, and Pampelune fell in love with the librarian’s daughter. I’d never seen her like this! she just kept staring adoringly and asking for neck scritches and whispering sweet llama things in her ear.

I replied to an ask the other day saying llamas aren’t really animals that enjoy being cuddled, but I guess I’d just never seen a llama with a crush.

3. My little vegetable patch is happy with this warm spring; the 2-year-old strawberry plants are going strong, and I’ve also got tomato flowers and male & female courgette flowers, so all is going according to plan.

My one young raspberry plant valiantly produced two raspberries, which reminded me that I meant to plant more of them. I went to the agricultural store, and told them in passing that the persimmon sapling I bought from them last autumn is looking rather dead, and they gave me a few apology raspberry plants for free. I went home and discovered that the persimmon is actually making one very tiny bud! Now I feel like a con artist :( But look at this shy little thing (on the right), it’s so discreet...

4. At the agri store I was invited to enter a raffle to win a 100-year-old olive tree. After filling up the little form with my name and phone number I was granted permission to take a second slip of paper and enter Pandolf’s name and phone number (I buy his kibble there so he is a valued customer). I hope he wins.

5. The sheep that are supposed to trim the grass around the store were napping in the shade, not a single one of them was working. I did not report them, because a sheep union representative came to touch my hand with its nose softly.

6. I also bought (half of) a former wine barrel to use it as an additional trough for the animals—I wanted one near my house so I wouldn’t have to trek across half the pasture on winter mornings to go break the ice, and there are two rivulets there that made the ground muddy, so it was better to dig some channels and add some pipes and have them flow into something. Digging a hole for the barrel was as exhausting a task as ever (so many huge rocks!), I’m glad I’m done with the New Trough project. I also had to rinse the barrel and air it out for a few days because it very much smelled of bordeaux wine, but here it is now, using its transferrable skills to start a second career:

7. Pandolf, on our way home from the agri store, enjoyed the wind in his mane. (That’s it that the last piece of news.)

Furina having some cute little particular spot/tactic which makes her let out the cutest, sweetest giggles with snorts in between and navia is so in love with that laugh that she lightheartedly Abuses that spot shkddhh for example like Furina's bellybutton or pressing soft little raspberries on her belly has her writhing, red painted on her face and a huge wobbly smile, soft giggles and whines followed by little snorts, and navia has to physically hold herself back from kissing furina while she's all giggly like that (she failed)

Sorry this wasn’t a very good description. I just wasn’t sure how to word it and make it look good. I need to read more descriptions to get better at this (also writing this descriptions is kind of the reason I’ve been putting off posting these)

My ideas for him is that he’s a swordsman, wants to live up to House Raspberry and particularly his mother’s legacy, and while he gets along with his father, he knows very little about his past (since here Dark Choco doesn’t really talk about it much, he never went and worked things out with his dad). Also he’s a bit of an introvert and just wants to sword fight and read books, but I didn’t know how to work in that last bit without it sounding weird

Anyways, design notes time

So the name Black Forest comes from Black Forest cake, since that was the closest thing I could think of that combines chocolate and raspberries, even though black forest cake is made with cherries. For a time I was considering using Raspberry Jam instead, but then I went back to Black Forest

I admit, he looks like he’s from the 1700s or something. Granted, I don’t think that’s too out of place in the Hollyberry Kingdom

The hair I remember being something I struggled with for a while, until I kind of settled on this for his hair. I’ll be honest, the sketch I did up top really helped me get a good idea for his design and finally finish it (granted that was a couple months ago)

I had always wanted to give him a white outfit, since Dark Choco and Raspberry both have costumes in white, and I was able to do that here

I’m sorry, this is a bad post (I’m talking description wise, the art itself I don’t think is too bad). I designed him a long time ago, I’m not good at writing the character descriptions, and frankly I’m just writing this because I feel like I just have to get it out and actually post these requests. So I’m just gonna stop now, hopefully next one I post I’ll be able to write a better description, and I hope you like…whatever coherent stuff you can find here, and his design I guess

Been thinking about how precious Aki would be taking care of his pregnant wife. He’ll hold your hair back and never leave your side whenever you’re sick, he won’t hesitate go out even late at night if you need something/ suddenly have a craving, he’ll frequently go out of his way to fetch you your heating pad or pillows or blankets or whatever you need to be more comfortable. I feel like he’d be one of those parents who go out and buy an entire bookstore worth of baby/parenting books lol. The idea of child labor personally terrrrifies me but I know that Aki would just be so so supportive the whole way through, constantly monitoring everything and encouraging you - he’s already read so much on this and knows that you’re going to be just fine, tells you how good of a job you’re doing. Poor thing then would just be SOBBING when bringing the new baby Hawakaya home, he’s just so happy to even put in words.

Then I imagine introducing the baby to Denji and Power would be similar to those videos of dogs seeing their owners’s new baby for the first time, where Denji and Power are just like (O.O) and it has to be verrrry gentle.

Another bonus: I imagine Aki gradually becoming carried away baby outfits, finding himself getting more excited looking through baby clothes and dressing up his new little one in all sorts of outfits <3

I wholeheartedly agree with all of this... aki loves you so much, and you never once forget how much he cares for you. he'll be with you every step of the way, he has plenty of funds saved up and he takes frequent leaves off of work to take care of you and help prepare. he definitelyyyy gets sort of paranoid at times, he reads parenting books constantly and studies all the things he can do to help you while you're pregnant. you have to reassure him that everything will be okay sometimes, because he'll work for hours on end to set up the babies room or he'll go without sleeping because he's busy worrying about you...

he's really the sweetest dad. he gets all teary eyed when he presses his palm to your stomach and feels the baby kick. he insists on holding your hand the entire time you're in the hospital, literally refuses to move even when the nurses are telling him he should. he cries the first time he holds the baby and doesn't stop staring at them from that moment to when you finally get home.
