Calling all interested Naturals ..!★~(◠‿◕✿)
Though there were a few here already before i came back to tumblr, I started a natural hair group chat a few weeks ago that I'd really love to make an active space for natural hair patrons & movement participants.
Having an additional communal space for individuals w/ naturally textured hair (kinks; coils; curls; fros; locs; knots -- everything) to engage w/ is what im hoping will build the group at large to be a space that empowers Black Diversity.
I've subscribed to countless Naturals on yt & it's always satisfying to watch their routines & maintenance but I'd like to be able to ask ppl here what their experiences are like as naturals; have conversations & share knowledge we can all contribute to & benefit from.
Seriously I'd love to be able to ask you guys about your fav products & brands; about your curl textures & patterns; if/how often you trim; whether any of you did big chops to start your journeys; whether there are products you would or wouldn't recommend to other naturals; challenges (if any) that individuals have w/ shrinkage; what form(s) or mixture of moisturization works best for your hair; and see your growth & length retention best of all! :D
If you're interested send a join request to the group ‘Inspire the Tribe (Natural Hair)’. I'm down to create a safe space for those who would enjoy making use of it.
Also! It'd really help me out if ppl would like/reblog this. You never know who needs to see a post like this or be encouraged & supported to be themselves, so I'd really appreciate it.

Black History Month is still in full swing and Root Magic would be a perfect choice if you're thinking about what to read next and you're looking for magic and fun. This is also the monthly pick for #WeLoveMGLit book club run by @naturemamareads and @andreabeatrizarango. Thanks to @theshelfstuff for the gifted copy. QOTD: What BIPOC magical or ghost story have you enjoyed recently? Highlights & synopsis below: 🌱An ownvoices middle grade debut from an author we’re all really excited about 🌱Magic system inspired by rootwork, a still-practiced form of African American folk magic based on West African spiritual traditions 🌱The story works in folklore from and traditions of the Geechee people and the Gullah language, both of which are wholly underrepresented in children’s literature 🌱Real-world issues in 1960s South Carolina 🌱Come for the spookytimes, stay for the tight sibling relationship 🌱🪄SYNOPSIS:🌱🪄 It’s 1963, and things are changing for Jezebel Turner. Her beloved grandmother has just passed away. The local police deputy won’t stop harassing her family. With school integration arriving in South Carolina, Jez and her twin brother, Jay, are about to begin the school year with a bunch of new kids. But the biggest change comes when Jez and Jay turn eleven—and their uncle, Doc, tells them he’s going train them in rootwork. Jez and Jay have always been fascinated by the African American folk magic that has been the legacy of her family for generations—especially the curious potions and powders Doc and Gran would make for the people on their island. But Jez soon finds out that her family’s true power goes far beyond small charms and elixirs...and not a moment too soon. Because when evil both natural and supernatural comes to show itself in town, it’s going to take every bit of the magic she has inside her to see her through. #RootMagic #TheShelfStuff #feature #EdenRoyce #HarperCollins #books #welovemglit #MiddleGradebooks #bookclubpicks #bookstagram #bookmarks #inspirethetribe #Africa #bookphotos #BIPOCBookstagram #ownvoices #weneeddiversebooks #hardcovers #bookworm #bookish #Ilovebooks #waldenpondpress #siblings #folklore #ghoststories (at Bushwick) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLh_wbKAto6/?igshid=mh7649lk68cb
