“So Danny! I hear you and your little friends want to know how to summon ghosts!”
-
Kicking off Phantasy Phest 2022, here’s a reimagined Fentonworks basement - if they used magic to communicate with ghosts rather than science to study them. Doesn’t Jack know how dangerous it is to leave lit candles unattended?
“Ignore the door, please - we promise it doesn’t go anywhere good.”

“Danny and Valerie were so absorbed with building their snow fort that they failed to notice that Sam and Tucker had already forfeited the match.”

Shiptember Day 5: Building a Fort! I know it probably meant ‘blanket fort’ for the romantic undertones but with these two I couldn’t resist. Apologies for the extremely messy coloring - maybe I’ll clean it up later. ;)

After getting my @rotgbingo card in the first week of January, (and then proceeding to do nothing with it for half a year,) here’s my first Bingo fill for 2022!
The square this time was: “Not a Date.”
Inspired by the Heartstopper comic’s bonus material, Sandy finds himself third wheeling during an outing, even if Jack and Aster won’t admit that it was, in fact, a date.
Who knows! Maybe it wasn’t one. I’m sure lots of platonic duos get so wrapped up in each other’s nonsense that they completely fail to notice friend #3 pull out a phone and take a selfie. Checks out, guys. Great work.
Bingo card under the cut!

@phantasyphest Day 2 - Magic Danny! I mean, if I’m gonna give Danny some magic powers, it’s gonna come with a cloak.

Stars Aligned Chapter 3
(Please do not ask when the next chapter will be, I do not know. Links to AO3/FFN will be included in reblog.)
.
Here’s the thing. The very, very, stupid thing. Despite all his planning for this trip, Danny had no idea what his birth family looked like. Presumably, they also had no idea what he looked like.
As much as Danny would like to blame this on a wizardly aversion to the internet and photographs, he couldn’t. Danny could have sent them a picture of himself through the mail at any time. Even if wizard mail involved owls for some unexplained reason. But he didn’t. Because he was dumb.
And his equally dumb wizard family had also failed to send any pictures.
What were they thinking? Did they assume they’d somehow recognize each other on sight? Was that a wizard thing? Did they expect to spontaneously develop blood-relative telepathy? Was that a thing?
Danny did not know what to expect. He honestly didn’t know enough about wizards.
The end result was that Danny was standing in the middle of the wizarding world’s equivalent of an airport, which involved way more open fires than could possibly be safe, and people stepping into those open fires, which, again, could not possibly be safe. Of course, Danny had done it, as uncomfortable as it was for his core, and anything that used internal combustion was technically also using fire as a means of transportation, so Danny might have been a bit of a hypocrite, but still.
But, back to his dilemma. He, a dumb teenager, could be expected to do dumb, thoughtless things and make easily avoidable mistakes. It was basically a requirement. His actual family, who probably could have realized the error, didn’t want him to go and could be forgiven for any oversight. But dumb wizard birth family had at least one semi-competent adult in it. Supposedly.
Despite himself, his desire to kidnap his brother increased. Even though it would most likely cause an international incident.
He sighed. Maybe he should just follow the crowd and see if anyone stopped him. After all wizards might have magic blood-relative detection something or other.
He trudged along, pulling his trundle suitcase behind him. Silver lining was that whatever happened, he didn’t have to spend hours in a metal tube breathing recycled air. Silver lining. Silver lining. Silver—
Ah. Hm.
Danny blinked at his name written in large letters on a square of poster paper. His first and middle names, that is, and his bio-family’s last name.
He was highlytempted to turn around and go back home, but there was his twin, holding the card and looking fragile and hopeful, standing next to a tall woman with greying black hair.
He sighed. He was doing this, then.
“Hi,” he said, “you must be Draco. I’m Danny. And, uh, you must be Narcissa Malfoy?” He sort of held his hand out, feeling awkward.
“You can call me mother, Deneb,” said Narcissa. She sounded slightly tearful.
“It good to meet you, Deneb. Er. Danny.” Draco’s eyes flitted up to his mother.
“Yeah, um. Please don’t take this the wrong way, Mrs. Malfoy, but I don’t actually know you. And I’ve got a mom.”
“Yet,” interjected Draco. “You don’t know mother yet. That’s what this visit is about, right?”
“Right,” said Danny. “I’m… really looking forward to it.”
Draco looked relieved. “Excellent. Well, then, Looky can get your luggage and we can floo home.”
A very small, rather wizened person stepped out from behind Draco’s legs.
Okay. Danny had questions.
.
Danny did not particularly care for the answers to his questions.
.
Draco didn’t know why his twin had stopped talking to him before they’d even gotten home. He had, to some degree, expected rough spots. Merlin knew his family didn’t get along perfectly. But that didn’t mean he hadn’t hoped he and his twin would have a special connection. That they would mesh.
That… wasn’t happening. In fact, this was rather… awkward. Painful, almost.
He thought back to what they had been talking about. He didn’t think he’d said anything particularly objectionable. Had he hit on some chip on the shoulder those squibs had inculcated in him? Well, he thought, rather shamefacedly, he shouldn’t think of them like that. They hadn’t been the ones to abandon Deneb – Danny – just for not being immediately magical.
“Right,” he said, as Danny stepped (jumped, looking slightly disturbed) out of the fire. “Let me show you your room. We’ve had the house elves clean it out.”
Something on Danny’s face went dark, but he visibly controlled himself. “Thank you,” he said. “And, um, thank you, Looky. For your help.”
Draco frowned. He was confused, and he didn’t like feeling confused. He knew muggles didn’t have house elves, of course, but still. The concept wasn’t that hard to understand, was it? Although, it was possible Danny had never come across house elves at all, even second or third hand.
He supposed they might be unsettling if they were the first magical creature one came across. Ugh. He’d never tried to put himself in the position of someone learning about magic for the first time. Why would he? That was mudblood business, and he’d never associate with one of those.
But Danny was in that position, just about.
That meant it was Draco’s job to help Danny understand.
.
Danny was hoping he was misunderstanding something and that wizards did not, in fact, practice slavery.
This seemed to be a forlorn hope.
“So,” said Draco clasping his hands behind his back in the doorway of ‘Danny’s’ room, “er, house elves. You’ve probably not seen them before.”
“Can’t really say so, no.”
“Probably the first magical creatures you’ve seen.”
“Um,” said Danny. “Also no. I did have to go get a wand and stuff, and you’ve got to go to a wizard town to do that. I saw a bunch of different stuff there.” He didn’t really want to explain the ghosts, but… “Also, my parents study ghosts.”
“You mean, your adopted parents.”
“My parents, yes.”
“I didn’t know squibs could see ghosts. Well, they never seemed to have any trouble with it, so…” He shrugged.
“I… see.”
Danny doubted it, somehow. “But you were saying? About house elves?” Benefit of the doubt, he reminded himself.
“They’re servants,” said Draco. “Magically bound to serve certain families.”
“Magically bound,” repeated Danny, liking this less and less.
“Yes, it’s very old magic. An ancient agreement between our race and theirs, and the individual families and the house elves in question.”
“They can’t, like, opt out or anything?”
“That would defeat the point.”
“Okay,” said Danny. “So… Do they get, you know, paid at all?”
“Of course not,” said Draco.
Danny closed his eyes. “Okay. Um. Draco.” How to put this in a way that wouldn’t immediately alienate him. “Isn’t that slavery?”
“No,” said Draco, immediately. “They want to serve.”
“Well, they might say that to you, but human slaves used to say the same thing, because they’d get in trouble if they didn’t.”
Draco opened his mouth, closed it, and then said, confidently, “It isn’t like that.”
“Are you sure?”
“They aren’t human. They want to do this.”
Danny was no stranger to dealing with inhuman mindsets (but he most definitely did not have one himself). Even so…
“I think my point still stands. Like, are there very many house elves in this situation?”
“I don’t know,” said Draco. “I suppose so. Most families of substance and breeding have at least one.”
“Okay. Ah. Look. I’m not even sure where to start with this. Slavery is bad, right? We can agree on that.”
An annoyed expression passed over Draco’s face. “Yes, we can. That’s a given. But that’s for humans—"
“Great. Let’s start there. It’s bad for any human, right? Even, like, no-majs, or stupid humans, or—”
“Muggles,” corrected Draco. “No-maj is the American term.”
“When in Rome, I guess, sure. Muggles, then.”
“Yeah,” said Draco, uncomfortably crossing his arms.
Oh, Ancients, there was something there. Which Danny should have expected, given his birth father, whom he had yet to meet, threw him out of the house literally at birth.
Wizard supremacist weirdos corrupting his poor twin brother.
“Then what makes house elves so different?”
“Like I said, they want to do this. It’s in their nature. You wouldn’t, I don’t know, decide a dog was unhealthy because it barked instead of meowed, would you?” He spread his hands in frustration.
“I’ll give you that, but Looky looked actively afraid of you. And what was she even dressed in? That can’t be comfortable.”
“Giving them real clothes would free them – only if it’s their master, which in this case is Father.” He shifted slightly. “Except for Looky, I suppose, who is technicallymine. Great Aunt—Oh, you won’t know her. Why do you even care?”
“Why do I care about other people suffering? But otherthan that, what’s the difference between a house elf and a human servant? Like, would you treat a human servant like that? If you were a servant, wouldn’t you want to be treated with respect, even if being a servant was all you’d ever wanted?”
“But I’m not a servant.”
“But if you were. Can’t you just try to imagine it? A little? Please?”
“I… fine. But don’t bring this up to Mother and Father. They wouldn’t be pleased.”
“Okay. Deal.”
“Deal,” agreed Draco. “So. Do you like your room?”
Danny looked around. “Yeah, actually. It’s nice. Bit different from what I have at home, but, yeah. Good, um. Good floors. And wallpaper. And, um. Do all wizard paintings move like that?” He genuinely hadn’t noticed until just now, intent on the house elf problem.
“Yeah,” said Draco, seemingly relieved at the more normal topic. “It’s an enchantment on the canvas and paint.”
“Seems like it’d be hard to work with,” observed Danny.
“Well, the spell isn’t finished until after the actual painting part is done. At least, that’s my understanding.”
“I see, that would be easier.”
Silence.
“Would you like to see the peacocks?”
“Sure, why not?”
.
It took a bit of time to get bundled up in coats (cloaks in Draco’s case) because it was cold outside, but once they did…
“Wow. They’re albino peacocks.”
“Yes.”
“Wild.”
“No, they’re quite tame.”
“Oh, it’s, um, it’s an idiom. Like cool. Or wicked, I guess? Do British people use that?”
“I’ve heard some people use it. But Mother and Father are… not particularly enamored of slang.”
“Right,” said Danny. “I’ll remember that.”
They continued walking through the garden, towards the pond. Danny tried not to dwell on how much labor it would take to keep the grounds here so pristine.
“What do you do for fun in America?” asked Draco, out of nowhere.
Danny blinked. “Different people do different things,” he said. “Uh, a lot of things I usually do won’t work here because of the whole magic and electricity not getting along well thing. Have you ever heard about video games?”
“No,” said Draco. “Is it anything like quidditch?”
“I have only the loosest of understandings of what that is. It’s that broom sport, right? The one where you fly?”
Draco looked scandalized. “… Yes,” he said, finally. “I’m going to have to teach you how to use a broom before you have to go back to America.”
“The flying type of broom?” asked Danny, teasingly. Sure, he already could fly, but whatever.
“Merlin, yes.” Draco rolled his eyes. “I’m part of my house’s quidditch team. Letting you leave without some understanding of the rules would be a crime.”
“Draco, are you a jock?” asked Danny. “What is this world coming to. Related to a jock.” He shook his head dramatically. “I’ll never live it down.”
Draco nudged him slightly. “I’m not a meathead beater, at least,” he said. “I’m the team seeker.”
“I have no idea what that means.”
Draco’s smile slowly slid off his face.
“What?” said Danny.
“It’s just… you should. You should have grown up here, with family, as part of this world.”
“I did grow up with family,” said Danny. “Just not direct blood relatives. It kind of sucks that we didn’t get the chance to grow up together, but, like, I’m not really impressedby your parents so far.”
“Mother was very upset when she heard what Father did.”
“Sure, but she also kind of ditched us as soon as we got back here.”
“She has a delicate constitution? I’m sure she’s just trying to decide how to act… giving you space to make you feel more comfortable?”
Danny shrugged. “Well, we’ll see what happens. I’m going to be here until the end of the break, after all.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to go to Hogwarts, just for the rest of the school year? I’m sure they’ll be better than any alternative in America, when it comes to catching you up. Father has friends on the board of governors and the Ministry Department of Educational Oversight. It would be easy for you to go.”
“My friends are all back home,” said Danny, “and magic or not, what I really want to do with my life is become an astronaut, and I need ‘muggle’ grades and school for that.”
“A what now?”
“An astronaut?”
Surely, Draco had just misheard him.
“Is that some sort of muggle thing, then?”
“I- Do you not know what an astronaut is?” asked Danny, flabbergasted. “Really?”
Draco’s eyebrows were furrowed. “No, I don’t.”
“How about cosmonauts? Do you know about them?”
“No,” said Draco. “Is this related to the Argonauts, somehow? That Greek thing?”
“No,” said Danny. “I mean, the root word – But no. Not the same thing at all. How do I even… Do you know what outer space is?”
“Astronomy is a class at Hogwarts.”
“Not a very good one,” said Danny, “if you don’t know what an astronaut is. I think I’d die.”
“It’s a very good class. Hogwarts is the best wizarding school in Europe. And I know what outer space is. It’s the space up above the atmosphere, where the planets and stars are, and stuff.”
“Okay. I mean. I’m not trying to make you feel bad or anything,” reassured Danny, sensing that he had ruffled some feathers. “I’m just… an astronomy class should teach about astronauts. Astronauts are people who’ve been to space. Outer space.”
“That’s rubbish,” said Draco. “You can’t go to space.”
Danny refrained from informing Draco that he had, in fact, been to space. “Well, I want to go to space,” said Danny, “and other people have been there.”
“No one’s been to space,” said Draco. “Unless maybe someone apparated there by mistake, but how would you even do that?”
“I don’t know what apparating is,” said Danny. “Some kind of teleportation?”
Both of them stared at each other, each one probably at a loss for words regarding the other’s ignorance of things they themselves considered common knowledge.
“Yeah, more or less,” said Draco, finally. “But you can’t get to space. It’s impossible.”
“It isn’t. There are people up there right now,” said Danny. “On the International Space Station. Which is… it’s sort of a little house. In space.”
“There’s no air up there.”
“They bring the air with them.”
“Wouldn’t it explode?”
“They figured out how to make it so it wouldn’t explode. It’s very, um. Sturdy. Rigid. The space station is airtight.”
“And you’re saying that there are muggles in it. In space. Outer space. Right now.”
“As we speak. I mean, I guess some of them could be secret wizards, but considering your reaction, I’m doubting it.”
“Muggles. In space.”
“Yeah. We made it to the moon, too. But that was—”
“The moon?”
“Yeah?”
“In the sky?”
“That, uh.” He looked up, as if expecting to see the moon despite the thick cloud cover. “Yeah. The moon.”
“You’re telling me,” said Draco, in a hushed voice, “that there are muggles on the moon. Right now. As we speak.”
“No, that was before we were born,” said Danny.
“What.”
“Yeah, some people went, but it was really expensive, so they haven’t been back. Which I think is silly, because can you imagine the scientific advancements we could have made? The resources we could have brought back?”
“The moon.”
“You seem really hung up on this. Are you okay?”
“You- That- The moon. And muggles in space?”
“Yeah,” said Danny. He rubbed the back of his neck. “So, you see why I need to go back. I’m sure Hogwarts is great and all, but I really want to be an astronaut.”
“Can you see them through a telescope?”
“See what?”
“The muggles in space.”
“On a clear night, sure, if you know where to look.” Before the Accident (the Big One, the Unaliving, the Green Flash, the Knockoff Origin Story), Danny usually checked the internet for the times the ISS passed overhead. But he’d developed a ghost power that gave him a pretty good sense of where anything in the sky was, so long as he concentrated for a few minutes. “It orbits the Earth every ninety minutes or so, although it doesn’t always catch the light enough to see properly. You can actually see a lot of satellites.”
“There are more of these things?” hissed Draco.
“Not with people on them.”
“I’m getting my telescope,” declared Draco, starting to stride back to the house.
“We won’t be able to see anything now,” said Danny.
“It’s enchanted to see through cloud cover and ignore non-reflected sunlight. It’s top of the line.”
Danny had never wanted a physical object so much in his entire life.
“What? What? Magic can do that?”

Sorry if this is a weird question, but I was wondering what are some of your favorite DP fics?
(You don't have to answer if you don't want to, I was just curious. It can be really fun to see what kind of fics other people like.🙂🙂)
Thank you so much for asking! I've thought about this ask a lot since I got it and man, is this a hard question. I've literally read probably thousands of DP fics so it's really hard to pick! I decided to highlight some older stories and ones that were really impactful in developing my writing.
Passageway by @ladylynse : This is one of the first stories that I remember finding and reading on Tumblr and definitely a big reason I started reading and then writing fanfiction. Also by this author, Anomaly Because I really love anything having to do with clones.
Smokescreen by Nylah and Memories by Happylief : These two stories with their unwitting clone narrators are the reason that my story "Hope Can be a Heavy Thing to Hold" exists. The ending of Smokescreen has/ is providing inspiration for my Invisobang story.
Other stories by Happylief- Candlelight and Nexus . Candlelight is No One Knows au from Sam's pov as she becomes friends with Phantom. Major Amethyst Ocean feels. And Nexus is mindbending time travel weirdness. I can't even explain but it's so good!
Take Pride in Your Humanity by LunagaleMaster: This story! This story made me realize the amazing character exploration you can do using the ghost catcher. Its characterization is on point with so many interesting headcanons. You guys can thank this story for "Face to Face" and "Double Discovery."
Masquerade/Laboratory by @five-rivers : Everything by this author is amazing but I bring up this one because clones. So deliciously creepy and heartbreaking. Also, there's an element of this that also inspired my Invisiobang story as well.
Disconnected by Workparty: Fenton and Phantom sharing a body but with a twist. Really great. This author has a lot of other really great stories too. Analog - an anthology full of clone stories! After Time - Dan redemption fic that has him working for Clockwork. The Phantom Report - On going story. Jack and Maddie capture Phantom and go from enemies to allies after deciding to actually talk to him.
Note from the Resident and The Life Taken by The Light's Refrain : Fenton and Phantom sharing a body but with a thought provoking and sad twist.
Niel Masters Series by @ghostsray : Featuring their clone oc, Niel, who is precious and I love him so much.
Lair Called Home by critique : Another clone story, featuring a full ghost clone named Phantom. That fact and the descriptions of the lair influenced "Life and Death is all Perspective."
No one Knows AU by @darks-ink : The Fentons unknowingly adopting their own son is peak content. This series definitely made me fall in love with sweet family hurt/comfort. This author's got a bunch of other great stories too. Also check out their corpse au and reverse half-ghost Danny.
Glimpse by Pseudinymous: This is a Maddie talking to Phantom one shot. It's notable because this is the first time I saw that "Phantom as Danny's ghost" idea, which I later ended up using a few of my stories.
Ghost In The Machine (It's Only Me) by Sub_Rosa: Uses the Phantom as Danny's ghost idea again and Fenton and Phantom sharing a body . The last chapter is set in the TUE timeline with some heartbreaking angst. This was a big influence in my Phic Phight Story, Fractured.
The Other Half Of Him by Dreaming_Writer : TUE au where Danny's human half survived. Definitely another for Fractured.
Split by lal nila syrin (lalnilasyrin) : One shot. Duplication really is a good power and I love the interesting use of it here and the philosophical implications.
Duplication by ShadowPillow: Another interesting story about duplication.
Deliverance by Lightening Streak : Because Dark Gray is so under represented and this is something of a guilty pleasure for me.
What the Past Holds by AllisonNoir @mymadmedleyw : This is actually a new, still currently updating story but it really deserves more readership. It's Dan redemption with really interesting characterization. The highlight is definitely Jazz and Dan's interactions since that relationship is really rarely explored. A new chapter was posted today so please check this one out!

Hello, I'm back XD XD Sorry, busy life, you know how it is. Well, where were we? XD XD god it took me a while to find the last message/replied that I have and I knew you replied. I saw it almost as soon as you post it but it was pretty late and later never arrived. Anyway.... DPXML. you said that it clear not normal if Danny just shrug off weirdness, and that's totally true. But for real with everything that he had to deal with in Amity, I'm not surprise if that's his reaction :) :) Well, keyboard thing, I think that creating shortcuts could also worked. But I assumed that will be problem for future you, good luck with it. (also what? XD XD but I guess, technology doesn't really like you, I'm sorry about that... ^^; ^^;) And yeah, I have only ask you about this crossover. And I agreed some people does have some very interesting ideas and combinations for those. It's very curious to see that variety. O.O O.O I like to believe many safe their ideas in a document in one moment or another rather than post it here. Although there are some who actually post those hoping would inspire someone else. In either way, for me would be write down those ideas in the first place. But each with their own, right? :D :D Have a good day :) :) -Le Fantôme anon
(re: this ask)
Ah, don't we all? Drop in any time you like, Anon, regardless of how much time has passed. If you call yourself the Le Fantôme anon, or pick a new anon name but mention that you were this anon, I'll remember you. (Sadly, you can't shorten it to LF anon and have me keep it straight, since I'm not sure if that person is still around, and I don't want to confuse you with them.)
I tag all my original posts with 'ladylynse', if that helps, so you can search that tag on my blog to screen out all the reblogs (at least ones that didn't originate with me). I usually remember to tag asks with 'asks'. That will make it a little easier to find something if you're going back to it after a bit! Faster than just scrolling through my blog, anyway, since I've got a queue set up all the time. (I can't remember if I would've tagged our last interaction with 'my writing' or not, but I might've.)
There's only so much weirdness Danny can take before he gets to that 'well this might as well happen' point. *grins*
I haven't caught up to future me yet. I shall see if it works then.
It's a fun crossover! I might still do something with it at some point. After I finish up some other fics. And probably after I really get down to writing that DP/ML fic because I'm still excited for that one even if I haven't been actively working on it; I have far too much planned out.
Exactly! Different strategies for different ideas, too, I find. I have posted stuff in the hopes that other people's excitement about it would inspire me to finish it, and sometimes that works for me! (Case in point: The Trouble with Ghosts. To be fair that was more a dead fic than an idea but still. You might be able to count this one, too, since I wrote more solely because of one of my tumblr friends.)
The only thing I've posted that other people have really picked up on and wrote themselves was that one anon's idea of the HP/DP twin au (as opposed to any of the bits of my own stuff). Which is not surprising because, like I said, I don't have a lot of my own stuff on here of that sort of thing. This is largely because a significant swath of my ideas are crossovers with at least one obscure fandom--or it's something I figure most people wouldn't be interested in because it's not a popular angle. (Judging by my grand total of four notes on this post, I'm not making wild assumptions.) So, it lives in my notes or in my head.

Author Self-Interview
tagged by: @ljf613
Name: Pencil
Fandoms: *deranged laughter* Too many. I have written (and published) work for Fairy Tail, Genshin Impact, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Voltron: Legendary Defender, the Arrowverse, ~Disney~, RWBY, and Transformers: Prime. I have also written for Seven Deadly Sins, My Hero Academia, DC/Batman, Avengers, Danny Phantom, and soooo many others, but those are all WIPs and such. As for fandoms, well, there’s Miraculous Ladybug, Tales of Arcadia, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Tower of God, and more. I bounce around, and I never really leave anything behind, even if other interests are more at the forefront.
Where do you post: AO3. I used to, waaaaaay back in the dark days, post on ff.net, but not only have I forgotten my password, but I don’t like the interface as much, nor the things I posted when I was a Child, so AO3 it is.
Most popular multi-chapter fic: Of Dragons and Fairies, so says my AO3 statistics.
Most popular oneshot: Sparks in the Night, which I by no means expected, being that it was a fun little thing I wrote pretty much in one night. Technically it’s two chapters, but I originally wasn’t going to post the second part I wrote, but decided to later, so I would’ve made it a one-shot, probably, had I thought things through. Besides, it’s only 3k, so that’s a one-shot in my book.
The “real” most popular one-shot would be Never Forgotten by Pencil-actually-made-it-one-chapter logic.
Favorite story you’ve written so far: F-favorite? Oh. Oh well, um, I have really, really enjoyed the How to Raise Your Dragon Slayer series, far more than I thought I would when I started Of Dragons and Fairies for the kicks and giggles. That said, my favorite installment so far is probably The Eighth Tower, but one of my favorite things I think I have written is a massive one-shot that’s an MHA-style FMA fic, except that I lost it in a harddrive crash and haven’t re-written it. ;-;
Fic you were nervous to post: I don’t know if I’m ever really nervous? I generally post things and accept whatever outcome (even though I always hope it’s well received, because I’m a selfish author who likes validation). That said, it would definitely be United. That story was, and still is, one of my favorite brain-children, but I guessed that it wouldn’t be popular, and I was right. I haven’t written on it in a long time, though I have always wanted to circle back to it eventually; I just figured I had time to follow my current interests, since nobody else was chomping at the bit. One day my child, one day...
How do you choose your titles: Heh. Heheheh. HAHAHAHA. Very carefully, actually, even though sometimes I try to just slap something on a page anyway because it needs one. Most of the time, I try to capture the theme of the story—or at least one of the core ones—and allow it to both serve as a descriptor and as a note that would tie the story together and highlight the theme. Though I do appreciate allusions, and I like to include those as well. (If anyone wants to send me an ask about how I came up with a specific title, I will gladly give my thought process.) Unfortunately, chapter titles—as much as I try—rarely get as much inspiration as the fic title.
Do you outline: Y— Yesssssss.... Sort of. I try. Ironically, my most comprehensive outlines exist as Spotify playlists. That said, HTRYDS probably has the best outline of anything I’ve written, though Tales of Valor had a decent outline as well.
Complete: Mostly just one-shots—I’m actually pretty bad at completing things, heheh—but there’s a few. Outside of an ongoing series, Finding Home is my only completed multi-chapter. Inside of a series, but existing as comprehensive arcs, I have Of Dragon and Fairies and The Eighth Tower.
Edit: Oh! And it’s short, but The Recruitment Spiel is an Art But Destiny Took the Fun Out of It is complete! And multi-chapter. Yeah.
Do you accept prompts: Kinda. I’m accepting prompts and ideas for extra scenes for the HTRYDS series, though I’ll tailor them to fit my canon if necessary. Generally, I have so many things of my own to write, any prompt I got would be placed in the back of the line (unless I got super inspired, which happens) but I do enjoy prompts, provided they’re not super shippy or specific.
Upcoming story you’re most excited to write about: Well, that untitled I-have-to-write-it-again oneshot for FMA that I mentioned is definitely something I want to do and post eventually. As for what I’m actively working on, I am really excited for the next HTRYDS arc (I’ve been trudging through TLS to get to it, ngl) which will be titled Demon Tales. There’s also this Seven Deadly Sins TOG AU I’ve had rolling around, though I may not continue that the way I had planned because 4KOTA gave me more ammo.
Stories you’re most excited to read: Hmmm. I have quite a few things queued in my Marked for Later list, some that I’ve started and some that I wanted to check out, but as to what I have been currently reading/following, the Poisoned Dreams Continuity by StrangeDiamond (AO3), which is currently inbetween fics, and Homuncular Nature by Otaku553 are a couple of things I have been following. I also read a lot of Webtoons, and I have some Tower of God to catch up on, and Room of Swords and Lore Olympus are always welcome updates. I’m currently perusing some of my Marked for Laters, and in regular searches, to see what my next few reads will be. (Feel free to send me recs, but I also got a hefty stack of ATLA fics to check out, I know.)

Unveiled
Prompt: Jack was just trying to plan a surprise for his good ol' friend Vladdy. He...did not expect to discover a secret lab in Vlad's mansion--or a second portal or weaponry to rival theirs or-- Was that a hologram of his wife? Prompt by: @ladylynse Word count: 3,836
[AO3][FFnet][more Phic Phight fics]
The door creaked as Jack opened it, arms full with birthday decorations. He kicked it closed behind him, the key already put into a pocket in his jumpsuit. Sure, Vlad might not have handed it to him, but the man hadn’t changed in the years since they had met. He still hid it exactly where Jack would’ve expected him to.
Which was useful, because now Jack could decorate the mansion for the surprise birthday party he was going to throw for his best friend! He knew for a fact that Vlad would be out for several hours – mayoral duties and all that. And while he normally did his best to attend… This was a golden opportunity. He was sure that Vlad would forgive his absence once he saw the party.
He dumped his armful of decorations (carefully) in the entry hall. It would be the most convenient place to access it – he could return to this spot and decorate the separate wings of the mansion. Pleased with this plan, Jack picked up some of his goods and set off.
A few hours of decorating later, Jack had reached a cozy-looking study. He was just hanging up some flags when he accidentally knocked over a small statue. Worried that he had broken one of Vlad’s precious items, he approached to inspect it.
And then, with a grinding noise, the wall behind the statue started to open. Jack paused, watching how the wall opened into… a staircase?
Curiosity peaked, Jack crept closer. Why would Vlad have a hidden staircase like this? But just imagine what kind of cool things could be hidden down there?
He eagerly bustled down the stairs, and ended up in an enormous lab. It was much more neatly organized than theirs – a clear sign that Vlad was in control of this one.
Jack had to admit that he was a little confused by the fact that it was hidden. As exciting as this discovery was – his best friend was still into (ghost) science! – he didn’t understand why Vlad had kept it a secret. Why hadn’t he mentioned it to his friends? To him or Maddie?
Were mayors not allowed to have interests like these? Or was it something to do with his image, as mayor or as billionaire? Jack knew that the town tended to look askew to him and his wife because of their interest. Did Vlad hide it because of that? Was he afraid of being scorned like that?
He walked further into the lab, curious to see what Vlad worked on. What kind of inventions had he stowed down here? Could they work together, perhaps? Secretly, so he didn’t have to worry about his reputation?
Now that Jack was away from the staircase, he could see the entire lab. It was far larger than the one underneath FentonWorks. Not entirely surprising, that was.
What was surprising was the invention set in the back wall. It was a familiar sight. A giant metal arch, the insides filled with swirling green; a Ghost Portal. Set in the steel beside it was an Ecto-Filtrator. It… was the exact same as their Ecto-Filtrator.
And, sure. Maybe Vlad had based it on the old design for the Proto-Portal they had made back in college. But the one he and his wife had built for the new Portal was entirely different in design. And somehow, Vlad had made his exactly like theirs. How? He shouldn’t have had access to the blueprints. Right?
All along the walls, carefully stored and labeled, was ecto-weaponry. Jack would’ve been excited about that, except that these seemed to be very much like the FentonWorks weaponry as well. The designs seemed eerily similar. Most guns could’ve been theirs, except that they were detailed with red instead of green. Seemed to be powered by pink ectoplasm instead of the green they used.
Was this why Vlad had hidden his lab? Because he borrowed their designs – Jack didn’t want to think of it as stealing, because surely his best friend didn’t so such things – and didn’t want them to know? Didn’t Vlad realize that they would’ve forgiven him for such a thing? If he had asked, Jack would’ve gladly shared the blueprints, even!
Everything in the lab seemed to be directly inspired from the FentonWorks lab, except bigger and more expensive. Everything, except for the giant machines in the back.
They resembled enormous pods – and Jack had no idea what they could’ve been for. They weren’t connected to anything, and were littered with shattered glass and broken machinery and snapped cables. They were clearly salvaged from somewhere, but from where and why, he didn’t know. Was Vlad researching the machines for something? And if so, for what?
In his curiosity, his feet had been carrying him ever closer without him noticing. Apparently he passed too close by the main computer, because it turned on. Startled by the sudden activation, Jack backed away a step or two.
And in the empty space he had just cleared, a hologram appeared. See-through and glitchy along the edges, but still clearly recognizable. The auburn hair and violet eyes were a clear giveaway – as was the teal jumpsuit.
Vlad had a hologram made to resemble Maddie. Jack’s wife. What the hell?
“Hello darling,” the fake Maddie said, her voice so staticky that it was barely recognizable as Maddie’s. “How can I help you today?”
“Go away,” he commanded, disgusted and confused and so many other emotions that he couldn’t discern. “Leave me alone.”
“Of course sweetcheeks,” the hologram replied, before flickering out of sight. Jack sighed, relieved, and sank down into the chair sitting in front of the computer. Maybe… maybe he should take a look. Something was going on here.
The cool hidden underground lab suddenly wasn’t as exciting anymore.
On the computer, the files were neatly organized. Another sign that good old Vladdie hadn’t changed as much as one might think. Unfortunately, this didn’t make the information presented to Jack make any more sense.
A bunch of files were dedicated to Maddie. And another few specifically to the AI version of Maddie he had seen just now – which implied that most of the files were about the real Maddie. Jack briefly wondered what on Earth his friend could’ve hidden in these – but he skipped past them, nonetheless.
Disgust curled in his stomach. Maybe Vlad wasn’t the friend Jack thought he was. To him, or to Maddie.
There are also a lot of files about Phantom. These, at least, should be safe for Jack to explore. The ghost was an interesting one, after all. And had no link to him or his family, besides the fact that they hunted it.
Initially, the files make perfect sense. They were studies – far more in-depth than anything Jack and his wife had ever managed. Phantom was notoriously elusive, and he wondered how Vlad might’ve acquired the more advanced data.
Phantom’s power levels, its abilities and skills, weaknesses and strengths. These were all perfectly normal – they kept the same things logged. The ghost was a powerful one, and knowing one’s prey was important for hunters. And while Vlad wasn’t a hunter, he might’ve been compiling the information for other hunters to use.
More curious were the anatomical pointers. Some of the notes were fine – location and strength of the core, ectoplasm density, such things – but others… were not. Skeletal structure, which ghosts shouldn’t have, and even organs? Was Vlad somehow ahead of them in research?
Jack did seriously wonder how Vlad had acquired all this information, then. He wasn’t a hunter – and he certainly couldn’t have caught Phantom. Right?
More curiously, however, was that he kept referring to the ghost as ‘Daniel’ instead of Phantom. This, Jack definitely didn’t get.
Until he reached the part of the file dedicated to Phantom’s origin.
From the start, it was a confusing mess of data. It listed all kinds of information about Phantom which Jack couldn’t fathom Vlad accessing – and which he highly doubted were true. Additionally, it was all presented in a way which made it seem all the more sketchy.
Even the first note, cause of death, was highly dubious. “Electrocution via Ghost Portal,” it stated, which was clear enough – if a little worrying, because it meant that not only was someone trying to mimic their grand invention, they had gotten a kid killed in the process. More confusingly, however, the sentence didn’t end there. No, instead, “much like myself” was tacked on. Like Vlad himself had died – or like the files had come from a ghost.
Jack wasn’t sure which was better. He ignored it in favor of reading on, hoping to find less confusing information.
Apparently Phantom had only become a ghost a year or two ago. By the time they first encountered him, he would’ve been barely formed. Supposedly, he had formed immediately upon death – he had died early August that year.
Instead of getting hung up on this, Jack’s eye caught on the details on the ghost’s identity. Because there, in plain text, it read, “Daniel Fenton”. Like his son had died two years ago, and had somehow become Phantom. As if he wouldn’t have noticed if his own son had died!
But the file provided picture proof as well. A lot of picture proof. Comparative photos between Danny and Phantom, taken at regular intervals. They did look like perfect mirror images – identical copies, if one ignored the difference in hair and eye color. In the pictures, one could even see them growing up in perfect sync.
And the file continued on. It listed Phantom (Danny?) as a halfa – a half-ghost. A special type of ghost caught in the split between life and death. Not entirely a ghost, but not quite human either.
It was… It was all too much. None of this could be true. Jack refused to believe it.
Something… Something must be wrong with Vlad – clearly had been for a while. He was sorry that he hadn’t noticed it before, but for now the best would be to help. He didn’t know what had caused it, or how to fix it, but he owed it to his friend. All these files were a clear sign of some mental problem – Jazz’s constant rants about psychology had taught him that much, at least.
Because, as convincing as all this was… As much as all of it held up to Vlad’s old standards, rigorously collected and sorted information…
Danny could not be Phantom. It was impossible. No matter how similar their appearances were, it simply wasn’t physically possible for one to be both ghost and human at the same time.
Still, morbid curiosity drove him to scroll just that little bit further down.
Logs. So many logs. Detailed breakdowns of Danny’s DNA – or parts of it, at least. Some clearly human. Other bits seemed otherworldly – tainted by ectoplasm, or so the file said.
More concerning, however, were the carefully kept notes on the various clones that Vlad had made. Of Danny – or Phantom, that wasn’t entirely clear. Maybe a mixture of both, which would’ve explained his faulty belief that the two were one and the same.
Jack would’ve considered that the reason why they were all listed as destabilized. All had broken down over their contrary existence – an existence not physically possible.
Except that, apparently, a single clone had survived. Slightly younger than Danny, and female. There was no name listed for her – just like there had been no names for the others. And somehow, she had survived.
Jack would’ve scoffed, laughed it off… but there were, once again, photos. Of a girl who looked so much like Danny that it was scary. And of a girl who looked just like Phantom, but younger. Different in the same way she was different from Danny.
And a video, which showed her shifting from one into the other in a sharp burst of light. Bright rings which swept away one girl and replaced her with the other.
So maybe there was some sort of truth to Danny being Phantom. Or Vlad had become incredibly competent with video editing – which Jack highly doubted. If he had gone this crazy, surely he couldn’t fake such convincing footage?
More concerning, however, was what Vlad apparently thought of this clone. She was the only survivor of an act he shouldn’t have tried – creating new life was morally wrong, and he highly doubted that either his son or Phantom (or were they one and the same?) had consented to it.
But Vlad seemed intent on figuring out why this one clone had survived. And to do so, he wanted to catch her.
He wanted to kill her, just to find out why she hadn’t died sooner.
It was… It was disgusting. No matter what had gone wrong with Vlad, no matter how much of this was real or fake or imagined – the intent was still there. Even if the girl– ghost– halfa wasn’t real, Vlad still wanted to kill her. Wanted to kill a living being he had created, because of what? Because she wasn’t a perfect copy of Danny? Because she had somehow survived when his ‘good’ clones hadn’t?
Why did he even want to clone Danny? Phantom or not, what could Vlad possibly achieve from having a clone of Jack’s son?
He didn’t know what to think. He didn’t know what the truth was – behind Phantom, behind Vlad, behind the lab and all its contents and–
Pushing himself away from the desk, Jack stood up. He wanted to get away from it all. Wanted to deny it – but at the same time, he wanted to help. Wanted to figure it out.
He didn’t know how long he stood there, intending to leave, trying to decide what to do–
A sound like shattering glass snapped him out of his reverie. He whipped around to see Phantom – the ghost was hovering next to one of the tables in the lab. Its – his – eyes were wide with shock. At his feet laid broken glass, like he had accidentally knocked a beaker over.
“D– Jack,” he said. Now that Jack was listening for it, he could clearly hear the hesitation, the correction. Phantom had been about to call him Dad.
God, this really was his son. Or derived from him somehow, but… that didn’t seem right. His gut said that the first was correct – and Vlad’s files seemed to imply the same.
“Danny,” he greeted back. Phantom – Danny – seemed confused by the words. And, perhaps, also by his non-violent approach. And how sad was that, that his own son looked at him with genuine fear?
He took his eyes off of the ghost of his son. Or half-ghost, if Vlad’s notes were to be believed. He doesn’t know anymore. Some of them seemed to be right, but others… they were too disgusting and scary to imagine.
“What are you doing here?” Danny asked him, cautiously. Jack continued to look around the lab, eyes roving over the entire room. Scanning it for any signs of the horrible things Vlad might’ve done. The ways he might’ve hurt Jack’s son.
“I could ask you the same thing,” he countered, shooting Danny a glance over his shoulder. The half-ghost fidgeted, unsure.
Then Jack’s eyes land on the broken down pods. Knowing what he did now, he could figure out what they were for. Cloning pods. One used to grow the clones – there had surely been more, but only one had been brought here by Vlad.
The other had been used to torture Danny, to somehow obtain the missing DNA samples.
And now that he had started thinking about it, he couldn’t help but worry… What had happened to the female clone? Because if Vlad was right about Danny being Phantom, and the pods were real enough… did that mean that the girl was also real?
Did Jack have a daughter out there, illegally cloned from his son? A baby girl, who had grown up in a lab without a name, watching her siblings melt and die?
“Is she safe?” he burst out, startling Danny – and himself, a little.
The sudden question seemed to confuse the half-ghost, since he frowned at Jack. “Who?”
“The female clone.” He turned to face his son properly. “The notes said that Vlad tried to hurt her, melt her down. What happened to her? Is she safe?”
“Oh, uh. I stabilized her fully, and then she left to travel the world.” Then the ghost fidgeted even more, slowly approaching him. “What, um. What else did the notes say?”
“A lot.” Jack scratched his cheek, offering a hopefully soothing smile. “Most of them bad things. Terrible things that Vlad has done, or wanted to do. He has a hologram of Maddie, can you believe that? Your mother!”
Danny stiffened, eyes widening even further. The glow from his green eyes cast flickering lights on the shiny surfaces of the lab. For once, Phantom’s eyes seemed kind and lively – Jack wondered how he had never noticed it before.
“You know?” he stuttered, looking at Jack. “And you… don’t mind?”
“Of course not,” he soothed, stepping closer to his son. He went slow, careful not to startle the boy. “You’re my son, Danny. Ghost, boy, or something in-between.”
Then suddenly Danny launched himself at Jack. Chilly cold arms wrapped around him, and in turn his big arms folded around his son. His son, who fit into his arms like he had always done.
A scoff interrupted the moment before they could truly cherish it. They broke apart to see the villainous Wisconsin Ghost hovering in the lab, in front of the Portal. Its arms were crossed, red eyes empty yet somehow still conveying a glare.
“Vlad,” Danny snapped at the ghost, and suddenly all the dots connected for Jack. This was his best friend?
But it made perfect sense. If Vlad’s files were to be believed, Danny had become a halfa thanks to his accident with the Ghost Portal. Vlad, too, had had an accident with a Portal – even if his had been the Proto-Portal. The larger amount of ectoplasm must account for the sickness, for the more… ghostly appearance.
And it explained Vlad’s behavior. The ectoplasm made him more volatile, more ghostly. It must’ve brought down hell upon his mind – and that was without the outside influence of people hating ghosts. It didn’t excuse his behavior, but, well. If they knew the problem, they could help Vlad. Could fix this – could fix him.
He realized that he had missed part of the conversation between Vlad and Danny. But it was impossible to miss the impending fight between the two, so he stepped forward to break it up.
“Wait,” Jack said, holding up his hands. And miraculously, both half-ghosts halted. He turned to face Vlad – his best friend, whom he had hurt beyond words.
“Vlad. I’m… I’m so sorry for what I’ve done to you.” He saw Vlad’s eyes widen, but he wasn’t sure with what emotion. His face was surprisingly hard to read like this. “I’m sorry for the accident with the Portal, and I’m sorry for unintentionally threatening you with my hatred of ghosts. I’m sorry for all the time we – I – made you feel unsafe, or unwelcome, or hated because of something you can’t control.”
Then his eyes hardened, and he made sure to keep his eyes locked with his best friend – or the man that once was his best friend. “But that doesn’t excuse anything you have done. It doesn’t excuse what you’ve done to me, or to my family. It doesn’t excuse what you continue to do.”
Vlad snarled in response, baring his pointed fangs. “What makes you think that I care at all about what you think of me!” Pink ectoplasm sparked around his hands, forming into coiling clouds of active ectoplasm. “What makes you think that I care about your opinion?!”
The ghost shot off, launching himself at Jack with startling speeds. He flinched back a step, throwing up his arms in a feeble attempt to defend himself–
But Danny collided with Vlad before the man reached him, and he was thrown into a wall instead. A fight broke out between the two half-ghosts, Vlad immediately ignoring Jack in favor of the bigger threat.
It made feel Jack feel sick, but he didn’t focus on it. He might not have brought any weaponry, but he didn't need to – the lab was well-stocked with ecto-weaponry. And as much as he hated their similarity with the FentonWorks weapons, it was a boon for the moment. They all seemed to work exactly like the guns he was used to.
His eye caught on Vlad as he charged another ball of volatile ectoplasm. Below him, Danny was picking himself off of the floor. He was unable to defend himself.
Jack blindly reached for a weapon, aimed, and shot.
The explosion blew Vlad back, and his attack dissipated. He hit the wall with a dull thud, head banging against it. Then he collapsed on the floor, his head bent down. A black ring formed around his waist, then split in two and swept over him.
Vlad Masters remained where the Wisconsin Ghost had sat, moments before. A perfect mimicry of the transformation Jack had seen on the screen, an eternity ago.
He stepped closer, bending down over his former best friend. Danny, who had finally picked himself off of the ground, hovered close to him.
“Don’t hurt my son,” he hissed, inches away from Vlad’s face.
“Stay away from my family,” he warned. “From me, from my wife. From my beautiful daughter Jazz and my wonderful son Danny. And from my newest daughter,” he paused, scrambling for a name.
Quietly, Danny added, “Danielle.” Jack didn’t question the name – he trusted his son’s judgment.
“And from my newest daughter, Danielle, whom I haven’t met yet but who I will protect anyway.”
His enormous hands curled around Vlad’s shoulders as he shook the man, driving the point home. “And if you even dare to hurt any of them, I will make the remainder of your life hell. Remember that, Vlad Masters.”
Then he straightened up, nodding once at Danny. The boys eyes flitted between him and Vlad, uncertain.
Jack strode towards the staircase. After a short moment of hesitation, Danny followed him.
“So,” Jack said as they climbed the stairs. Or as he climbed the stairs while Danny floated over them. “Do you have any way of contacting this Danielle?”
Danny remained silent for a moment longer. Then, quietly, he asked, “Why?”
Shooting him a grin, Jack offered, “Well, she’s a Fenton. And us Fentons, we stick together. No matter what.”

I got tagged by @tiffotcf.  XD
Rules: Answer 10 questions, write 10 questions, and tag 10 people
le questions:
1.If you could write anywhere, where would you write?
1a. What is the weather there?
some kind of mild weather with natural noise.  Either it’s mildly sunny (definitely not going to burn me again.  nope nope) or it’s raining enough to give me enough ambiance.  Just the taptaptaptap of the rain and the distant and pleasant roll of thunder.  Yes, please.
1b. What do you hear/ are listening to?
Whatever sounds are around me.  Usually water-related.  I imagine either the aforementioned rain scene or sitting around next to a river.  It’s either tripping along, carrying with it the sounds of the lake its passed from and the birds of the air and the wind rustling through the branches, or its falling off a rock and into the caverns below, splashing melodiously into the pool below and perhaps I’m hiding underneath an outcropping of rock.  Just enough to keep me out of the sun’s rays, but enough to keep me pleasantly warm.
       1c. What are you drinking/eating?
Water.  This one’s near constant whenever I write, I always have water with me.
2.If you could come up with any story, your dream story, what would the setting be?
Honestly, I almost never think of the setting.  I’m always thinking of the emotions that are going on.  But if pressed, I’d say I’d want a steampunk setting.  There’s just something about steampunk that looks so cool!
3. Do you have any preferred patterns for setting yourself up to write or rituals that help you get into the flow?
Not at the moment, no.  I’ve been trying to get myself back into it, and right now my number one thing is to not be laying on my bed when I go to type out stories.  Sit upright at my desk, water bottle next to me, and tiny distractions laid out on my bed and away.  I also, if I can, try to close out of Chrome and Discord, as they’re my biggest distractors.
4 Can you write for just a few moments at a time here and there or do you need larger chunks of time to even get started?
It’s difficult for me to just hop back into a work I’ve started and left, honestly.  So while I can write up a story very quickly in a few minutes, if I have something longer, I’m going to need time to reimmerse myself in the story so I can pick it up again.  So...  Short drabbles and oneshots:  few moments.  Longer stories:  need more time to get back into it.
5. What is your favorite piece of work?
That’s difficult because it feels like it fluctuates all the time.  One of the more consistent pieces of fanfiction that I’ve enjoyed reading over the years is for a fandom I’m actually not really a part of.  It’s called Circle Unbroken for The Elder Scroll series.  I can (and have) gone on literal rants about all the things I love to hate and hate to love about it.  And love to love, tbvh.  It’s just really well written and leaves plenty for imaginations such as my own to go off on little bunny trails.
6. What is its main theme? What about it holds you so deeply?
I suppose the main theme I take away from it right now is ‘Change always happens’ while simultaneously being ‘some things never change’.  As for what about it holds me so deeply, I find something either relateable or sympathetic about every single main character, and there are many of them.  They’re all fleshed out to the point of anyone saying ‘huh...  there could be an entire plot about this one character.’  I can hate the actions of the villain while understanding his motives and each of the MCs has their own view of how things ought to be handled.  I think the optimistic nature of the Dragonborn is often played off for laughs and underestimated, but I don’t expect anything less at this point.
7. Pick a character you are writing/like to write, where is their favorite place to go?
hmmm...  I write characters based on my mood, but I have a go-to in almost every fandom.  With Miraculous Ladybug, I lean towards writing the contemplative side of Marinette or the sadder sides of Adrien.  In Soul Eater, Maka is my main gal for just about anything.  When it comes to Ghost Hunt, I love to write for either Naru when I’m feeling broody or contemplative or want to express something or Mai when I’m feeling kind of giggly or silly.  When I wrote for Black Cat, Saya was my main gal.  Just because, at the time, she was who I identified with the absolute most.
Marinette likes to hide in her room while Adrien needs to get out of his own house and headspace.  Maka can go literally anywhere, but her favorite spot is wherever a calmer version of Soul is.  Naru likes to be sequestered away from everybody else while Mai likes to be in the thick of things in the base or in the lobby of SPR.  Saya was always a ghost in my stories, so her favorite spot was wherever Train was.
8. What is their favorite sound? food? time of day?
Marinette’s favorite sound is the thrum of her sewing machine and laughter.  Adrien’s is the noises of the city streets at night.  Maka’s favorite sounds are book pages turning and soft wind.  Naru’s favorite is silence interrupted only by tea drinking time (which is sacred).  Mai loves to hear people talk and be animated and happy.  Saya likes cicadas and singing.
Marinette loves croissants.  She lives in a bakery, there’s only so much sweetness you can stand!  XD  Adrien, on the other hand, would do anything for a cookie. Maka likes to eat basically anything that won’t make a mess on her books, but she’ll stash the book for a slice of pizza or a sandwich.  She ain’t super picky.  Naru’s all about that tea while Mai probably wants to head downstairs to the cafe for a sweet.  Saya likes her ramune, tbh.
Marinette’s favorite time is evening.  It’s so pretty and the colors fill her with inspiration.  Adrien likes the night time, where he can at least pretend that the bars on his window aren’t there.  Maka prefers the morning.  It’s the best time to get things done.  Naru actually doesn’t have a preference for a specific time of day, he just wants to get things done.  Mai’s more of an afternoon person, especially after she’s been given the blissful gift of sleep.  Saya enjoys the night time since it’s when she has the best shot of being coporeal.
9. What would the character you were just thinking of have to say about you?
                 Marinette:  She’s trying her best!
                 Adrien:  I think she’s a good person
Maka:  What is she even doing?
                 Naru:  Pumpkin.
                 Mai:  She seems nice!
                 Saya:  You abandoned me!
10. When you are stuck how much compassion do you show yourself?
Not as much as I should, tbh.  But I don’t have a good way of dealing with it either, so there’s that...
MY TURN TO ASK QUESTIONS!
When did you start writing fanfiction?
Is there a particular story of yours that you’re super proud of?  (Link!!)
What would you say is the most evil thing you’ve done in your writing?
Write it by hand first or just type it straight on the computer?
Have you ever thought of writing poetry?
How many fandoms can you handle at one time?
How many hours of sleep do you get when you’re working on a story?
What inspired you to write fanfiction in the first place?
Do you tell people IRL that you write fanfiction?
What is the happiest thing you’ve ever done in any of your fanfictions?
I CHOOSE!!!

WIP title game
(Rules: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Send me an ask with the title that most intrigues you and I’ll post a little snippet of it or tell you something about it! And then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
@ladylynse, you did an open tag, this is what happens.
*sucks in a deep breath* Onward into the bottomless pit that is my WIP folder! (some stuff has been cancelled, that's why the numbers skips so much)
07 - Sonic the Hedgehog (title says it all. Was supposed to be some sort of novelization of the 1991 game, but.. eh... I never get around to it)
09 - Golden Mayhem (Sonic the Hedgehog. Old. Been there for years)
10 - DP One Shots (not really a whip, but also not a complete fic either)
13 - Unwilling Partners (Rockman.exe / Megaman Battle Network. This thing... this thing is... long. This beast is 29 chapters long, with a 30th forever stuck where it is. It has over 140k words and has been going on since... since the distant 2010, if not earlier. It's a mummy that hangs around in my closet and refuses to be dusted off, prompting me to wonder if I should. just. rewrite. it. From the beginning. Because I refuse to give up on this.)
14 - The Ninth (rc9gn time travel fic)
15 - The Ties That Binds (rc9gn fic in which I have a plan but that plan still needs to be written down. My first time tackling a story through the eyes of side characters rather than the main one)
16 - Odin's Eye (Trollhunters x How to train your dragon crossover that is currently going on. I have a plan. Kinda. I want to keep this short(er).)
18 - Through The Eyes of The Rookie (a... somewhat AU based on the game Sonic Forces. The continuation of Fall of a Hero, Rise of a God. 1 chapter down, at least 10 others to go)
19 - The Wings of Daedalus (this is the most recent entry into the bottomless folder. Assassin's Creed fandom. Desmond Lives AU where he plays the Master Assassin rather than the Guinea-Pig-on-the-Chair)
DPxCSI (there is a first chapter that could be considered completed already posted. I had plans that I kinda forgot because they were never fleshed out. I think it involved a serial killer getting his/her hands on a ghost artifact)
DPxHP (final name "Harry Potter and the Witch With no Memory". Got some chapters posted, but again, my brain not only forgot the end goal to it, but there was so much useless stuff planned. On hiatus until I get inspired to sort this disaster out)
Dust (fic supposed to be the continuation of a game called "Dust: An Elysian Tail". Was mostly a spur of the moment that eventually dwindled away due to lack of enough lore to get it going)
Outlaws (Ladybug fic where she and Cat Noir are thieves. Dwindled away after first season ended)
Bho (rc9gn fic dealing with Randy dealing with nightmares after something horrible went down. Never decided on what)
Bof5xhttyd (supposed crossover between the game Breath of Fire (main character is a boy that can turn into a dragon) and how to train your dragon. Still in planning stage)
Broken Mask (rc9gn in which Randy is stuck in the ninja suit even when he takes the mask off)
Celeste01 (original story. I don't even remember where I was trying to go with this)
eee (something about Ladybug and Fantasy world)
HPxLoz (Harry Potter and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask crossover in which Link stumbles into HP world and end up being dragged into a conflict that is not his)
One Strange Partnership (DP x Hero Academia crossover in which Danny is a vigilante and ends up teaming with Aizawa. One chapter is out and for now is considered complete despite me having further ideas about it)
rc9gnxDp (Randy ends up falling into a portal to the Shadow Lands, gets pushed at the wrong turns and ends up into the Ghost Zone)
Slipping Control (Ladybug fic about the main characters being overworked and slipping into their hero persona as civilians)
Static Shock (does anyone even remember this cartoon? Fic supposed to be dealing with hopping dimensions after a bad guy that can just do that)
EDIT: of course I’d forget to tag people. So... consider yourself tagged if you wish!

Sooo... kinda late @ladylynse, but your recent reply to my question kinda inspired this thing and... I really tried to follow your ideas, buuuuuuuuut... I’m a slow writer AND these things takes more than 3 pages and I have tried to be on time AND I’m rambling so... here! Hope you enjoy?
-------------
“I can get you in easily, if you want.”
The man Danny spoke to nearly fell off the roof in his haste to turn around, and it was only thanks to his quick reflexes and that long scarf latching onto a nearby railing that he didn't met his end on the street below.
“Sorry!” Danny gave an awkward smile and held up his hands in a way that he hoped would convey he wasn't a threat. “I didn't mean to scare you...”
The man, a strange fellow with unkempt black hair and impressive bags under tired eyes, did not relax from his combat stance. “Phantom,” he declared, voice a mixture of a hiss and a mutter. His shoulders appeared so tense that it was a miracle they weren't shattering. “What do you want?”
Danny cringed at the hostility in the man's voice, but was glad that he hadn't attacked yet like the rest of the many, many heroes that had tried to catch him during the two weeks of him being... wherever he was.
“Like I said, I can get you in easily if you want,” he repeated, hoping his smile came across as harmless. “You have been staring at that warehouse for the past couple of hours and from what I hear from the police stationed several blocks away, there might be hostages? You're a hero, aren't you? Wouldn't saving those people take priority over catching a rough... ah... what do you call me? Vigilante?”
The man seemed to recognize the word in his own native language and narrowed his eyes. “I thought you didn't understand Japanese?”
Not the first thing Danny thought the man would say, but he counted his blessings. He'd rather be questioned endlessly than be shot at. “It's a slow going,” he admitted, shrugging. “But I'm starting to learn it.”
He slowly lowered his hands and walked to the the edge of the roof, leaning on the railing with his arms and looking intently at the warehouse on the other side of the street. “Anyway, my offer still stands.”
--------------
Aizawa Shota was a man with a clear idea of his priorities, and while the appearance of the vigilante known simply as 'Phantom' had been sudden and nerve wracking, he knew the kid's offer would be a great advantage in infiltrating the warehouse, locate the hostages, and possibly save them without having to fight through hordes of villains.
Still, Phantom did not possess a license and was a kid no older than his students. In no good conscience he could ask him to jump into a situation that was risky even for Pro Heroes like him. Yet, while he had never encountered the him before this night, Aizawa had seen enough videos to know that Phantom was no pushover.
Even Endeavor, new number one hero on the board after All Might's retirement, was at a complete loss at how to catch the kid. If he wasn't slipping away into the night, he was freezing the man's feet to whatever surface he stood on before leaving.
The first week people had been worried he was a follower of All For One, but when one of the heroes managed to have a brief conversation with him, he did not recognize the super villain's name.
He was a total mystery that the media had been feasting upon since his first appearance about two weeks ago.
“You would go in even if I declined, wouldn't you?” he asked when he noticed the kid's determined eyes locked onto the warehouse. “Even if I tried to stop you, you'd find a way.”
The boy smiled, then grimaced. “You caught me, I guess,” he replied, finally turning those bright green eyes onto him. “But I'm offering. I admit that... ah... I'm not very good at doing this without causing either massive damage or wounding some people. I mean... I can either fight the bad guys, or protect the hostages, but doing both at the same time... well... things can get out of control?”
Shota crossed his arms and appreciated the kid's intelligence in recognizing his own shortcomings.
“You offered to take me inside,” he recalled Phantom's first words to him. “How do you propose to do it?”
The kid smiled and extended a hand towards him, palm facing up. “Easy,” he replied. “I know you probably have seen me go intangible or invisible. What you people don't know is that I can do both at the same time and extend it to another person.”
Shota paused, arms slowly falling away from his chest at the sheer implications such a statement brought. If he was a villain, there would be no stopping him, and that was without counting in his other quirks. Flight, energy manipulation, ice generation, and whatever else he was keeping hidden from cameras... If Phantom decided to go villain, it would be something close to a second coming of All For One.
And how could he erase his quirks and bring him down if he never saw him coming?
“Come on,” Phantom's voice broke him out of his spiraling thoughts, his hand still held out invitingly. “I don't bite.”
Aizawa considered his options. Teaming up with a vigilante was generally frowned upon by both authorities and the civilians, but he also recognized an opportunity when it presented itself to him.
Phantom might be young, but he was powerful and capable. With the right directions and orders, this mission could and would be a breeze.
Besides, when did Eraserhead ever paid any mind to what people thought of him?
-----------
Danny was glad he had approached the Pro Hero for this because the moment they infiltrated the warehouse and located the hostages, he knew for certain he couldn't have saved them all before the alarm was raised.
With Eraserhead's help and directions however, they not only managed to get every single innocent person to safety before things went downhill, but they had also returned inside soon after and captured the man at the head of the gang. After that and without their leader, the rest of the villains had been easy pick for the heroes that had stormed in the moment the command had been given.
“You are truly something else, Phantom,” Eraserhead commented as they watched the gang leader be hauled into one of the police vans that had rushed to the scene when the raid had started. “Why do you resort to vigilantism? With your quirks, entering any hero school would have been easy.”
The words were spoken without malice, but they still hurt in a way that the hero could have not imagined. “I... ah... I was too late to apply?” he internally cringed at the lame excuse, and judging by the unimpressed stare he was receiving, the man knew he was bullshitting him. “Ok, look... my situation is... not normal... I never applied to a school because I don't want to stay here. I...”
As he trailed off, Danny felt a surge of sadness and loss that forced him to take a few steps back and turn away so that Eraserhead would not see his expression. “I'll be going home soon, but... while I'm here... why not help? I can't just stay back when I know I can help.”
And it helped with keeping the darker thoughts that wormed their way into his mind at bay. Every day was a struggle. Every day was a reminder of how far away from home he was. Every single day he tried to remember how he had gotten in this place and failed miserably.
“You are breaking the law, kid,” the man behind him said in deadpan. “Today I let you help me because it was convenient and there were more pressing matters to take care of, but-”
“Yep,” Danny interrupted the man by turning invisible and intangible before he realized he would not cooperate with him any further. “Time to go! Thank you for letting me help! I hope we can chat again in the future!”
After all, he had seen the Eraserhead's power at work in the warehouse. Being able to cancel other people's quirks was useful and really tricky to get around, and while Danny was sure that his ghost powers were an entire different thing, he was not going to stick around to test that.
His luck had lasted long enough as it was.

Three sentence fic challenge thing
So, in a spur of the moment insanity, and mostly due to the fact that I want to write but lack inspiration and I just want to get my brain off vacation I’m willing to try this whole three sentence fic thing a certain @ladylynse has been doing for who-knows-how-long. It’s all about writing a mini ficlet of three sentences (the length being variable depending on what I come up. Could be several lines, or just a single one), and hey, if you’re lucky, it could be longer! I do tend to go on a tangent sometimes...
So yeah, do send over a prompt, be it a single word or an idea, and I’ll try to write it down. Fandoms I swim in:
- Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja - Danny Phantom - Sonic the Hedgehog - Legend of Zelda (mainly Ocarina of Time/Majora’s Mask, Hyrule Warriors, and Breath of the Wild) - Harry Potter (saw the movies, read the books, but I’m a bit fuzzy on it) - Trollhunters - 3Below
