Do you have useless knowledge of empires lore that never shows up or officially gets addressed in a video? You may be entitled to compensation.

Empires Deep Lore is a project run by one (1) guy with too much free time, and an interest in archiving timely media. Empires SMP, by nature of being an SMP where members both stream and discuss the lore of their characters in the strangest of places, tends to somewhat overflow with lore and information from 12 (and later 13) different outlets--however, due to the nature of the series, people who may join the fandom later down the line (such as myself, only having really gotten into the series in Season 2) may struggle to understand where certain things come from--or worse, may not even know of certain little factoids at all! Imagine if, a year from now, people who hadn’t watched back Sausage’s VOD don’t know about him canonically writing fwhimmy fics? The shock. The horror.

If you, beloved reader can remember any useless tidbit of lore that popped up once on an Empires stream, please do send it in the asks, preferably with wherever you think you remember it from. Or, if there’s any random info you want to remember for whatever reason or you want to find proof of, send in an ask and I’ll do my best to find it.

while there are lots of tips going around about tumblr etiquette and how not to be a dick if you’re new here, i thought it might also be helpful to share, like-- the basics of how tumblr works? if you’ve never used it before?

so here are some handy links to help get you started! most of these are from the tumblr help guide, which is a great resource.

organizing with tags - one of the best tumblr features in my opinion is being able to tag your shit and then find it later on your own blog

lesser known tumblr features (check out the url tricks section!)

what’s the difference between primary and secondary blogs?

posting options:

drafts - yes, you can draft posts and come back to edit them later and post them whenever you’re ready. i also use this as a way to store things i want to be able to reference later without necessarily publishing the post so that i don’t have to crawl through my own likes to find things, but you do you!

queued posts - queued posts will go up automatically throughout the day based on your queue settings. some users have a tag they add to queued posts to make it easier to know what’s from their queue (usually with a ‘queue’ or ‘q’ pun wedged in there for fun), or will have different queue tags if they’re going to be inactive for some reason, etc.

theme basics (how to enable custom themes)

custom html (this is how you ‘install’ most custom themes you’ll find on tumblr, by copying and pasting the provided code)

looking for themes? check out @theme-hunter, or their tags (#theme hunter, #themehunter). if you find a theme you like, i’d recommend checking to see if the maker reblogs theme recommendations, a lot of makers do!

do you want to install a theme that includes javascript but you’re getting an error? here’s a post about how to ask support to allow you to use js on your blog or your pages.

Hi there!! Not a request, just a quick question. I’ve seen a lot of pictures of Ryan Dunn with “Random Hero” on it and I noticed that’s the name of your blog! I’m super confused….what does it mean??

hey!! i believe it’s just a nickname for ryan!

i read something that the cky and jackass guys would call him random hero because he would step up to do stunts no one else would do

and i also read somewhere that whenever a stunt was going to happen there would always be a random person wanting to step in and stop the stunt from happening, and ryan would always say ‘who is this random hero?’ and then stop the person from intervening with the stunt

i’m not sure how true these are as i just read them online, but it 100% was a nickname for ryan :)

Next year's event is a prompt meme over on AO3! It's going to run throughout 2024, so that it can be quite a casual event and not have anyone scrambling to hit deadlines (I did not have the wherewithall to participate in my own ship event in time for the last one!)

I’m really glad that Aaron’s self-immolation for Palestine is getting attention, but on November 8th there was also a Congolese man who did the same thing for the genocide happening in the DRC. From what I read in the article above, his fate and identity are unknown but I think his story should be getting equal amount of traction and I haven’t really seen anyone talking about it on Tumblr specifically yet.
