"Douglas Fir," Hermione stated clearly at the entrance to the prefect's bathroom, although there was a noticeable strain to her voice. To put it plainly, Hermione was exhausted. This year's batch of first years were particularly difficult to wrangle - and Ron, of course, wasn't exactly helpful. What she needed was something she rarely took: a break.

Upon entering, Hermione made a bee-line for the nearest changing stall, where she got out of her robes, magicking them into neatly folded stacks on the shelf before reaching for a fluffy white towel to wrap her naked body in. She made a mental note to leave behind one of her knitted hats for the house elves who doubtlessly kept this bathroom so luxuriously stocked. Hopelessly tying her bushy brown hair up in a bun, she stuck her wand through the strands and opened the old, wooden door of the stall, her bare feet pattering lightly across immaculate, tiled flooring towards the vast, swimming pool-sized bathtub. A cloud of steam drifted across the top, making it all look exquisitely inviting. Blush tinted her cheeks as she looked around, ensuring that she was alone before she dropped the towel and sunk into the bath water. One of the caveats of the prefect's bathroom was that it was accessible to anyone who knew the password, regardless of gender. Some of her less conservative peers didn't mind this, but she, for one, couldn' bear the thought of someone seeing her completely exposed like this.

Well - that wasn't entirely true. There was one person she wouldn't mind seeing her that way...but she didn't even dare think his name to herself, let alone say it.

Sighing again, Hermione reached over to the nearest tap and turned it on, twisting the dial until the water and bubbles coming from the head were a pretty shade of lavender and, fittingly, lilac-scented. This was heaven...and it was almost perfect until the sound of someone else opening another stall and joining her interrupted her bliss. Hermione quietly groaned and closed her eyes, willing whomever it was to quietly enjoy the bath without bothering her...

AHHHH, AN ASK ABOUT MY BELOVED, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! (And I will also tag @auxiliarydetective, for the funsies. <3)

Lucy was born and raised in London, but she hasn’t been there in years, ever since she started working for the American government; she and her family aren’t exactly on the best of terms, so she’s never seen a reason to.

To elaborate on that: Lucy comes from a very wealthy family who also had very traditional ideas on what a woman’s life should be, and they did not support her seeking higher education or pursuing her passion for archeology at all. Lucy refused to let that stop her and went off on her own, using her own savings to make her way through school and get her own apartment, and she and her family haven’t spoken since.

In a modern AU, I really think Lucy would have watched the older Barbie movies as a child and adored them even into adulthood. Her favorite would likely be either Barbie in a Christmas Carol or Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses.

Despite being a scientist, and how much Indy teases her for it, Lucy actually believes in the supernatural, in ghosts and spirits and the like. She believes that there really are some things in this universe that can’t be logically explained, and she’s surprisingly content in that knowledge.

She taught herself how to shoot a revolver when she was in her twenties, and she’s since become a pretty amazing shot - even Indy has to admit she’s skilled, even if it does lead to him occasionally calling her Annie Oakley.

Lucy has a great appreciation for fashion and believes that one should always dress their best; even when she and Indy go out on expeditions, you’d better believe she is wearing perfectly tailored clothes that are fashionable yet perfect for whatever conditions they’re facing.

My girl is definitely autistic, even if in this era she obviously has no chance of getting diagnosed. Archeology is, obviously, her special interest, and she tends to stim by clicking her tongue when she’s bored or hurriedly clapping her hands whenever she’s excited.

She’s what I like to call a Hermione Granger Ravenclaw - a Ravenclaw, certainly, dedicated to knowledge and the pursuit of it, but also incredibly brave and loyal and willing to do anything for the people she cares about.

Lucy absolutely despises having to be social and make small talk, but she’s trained herself to do it when having to interact with people at government get-togethers or when around other archeologists, and after she and Indy get together, she finds that it’s also a lot easier when he’s by her side.

She basically refuses to call Indy anything but Indiana when they first meet, but as they get closer and after they get together, it becomes reserved for only when she’s pissed at him. Indy absolutely dreads hearing it from Lucy’s lips now, and even worse if she calls him Junior - that’s when he’s really screwed.

The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (2004)

You can’t be too harsh towards The Librarian: Quest for the Spear. It makes a valiant effort and considering its low budget and debut on TNT, it’s remarkably effective. This doesn’t mean it escapes its fate as a second-rate Indiana Jones clone. In fact, with so many of its scenes either reminiscent of the classic adventure films or directly ripped off from them, this movie kind of shows you how it’s done… when you don’t have the same roster of talent as the big boys.

The years Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) spent gathering college degrees instead of living his life pay off when a mysterious organization hires him. As the new “Librarian”, he is the caretaker of a veritable treasure trove of magical artifacts: everything from the Golden Fleece to the Holy Grail. When the Serpent Brotherhood steals one of the three pieces of the Spear of Destiny, he must follow a trail of clues and find the other pieces before they do.

Do you ever see those tongue-in-cheek posts about how know-it-all Hermione Granger should’ve been the protagonist of the Harry Potter series? This movie shows you why that would’ve been a bad idea. Flynn is an expert at pretty much everything except for physical combat. Geography, languages, egyptology, the Amazon forest, etc. This means the movie’s got exactly two ways of solving every problem thrown in his direction. Either A) Flynn has the answer filed away in his brain already or B) his partner/bodyguard Nicole No-one (Sonya Walger) can punch it in the face. If the next clue in the quest is in some absurd language no one has spoken in a millennia, just give Flynn the length of an airplane ride and he’ll have figured it out. It doesn’t make for a compelling hero.

There’s a general lack of energy in the action that makes the film tough to sit through. You keep wanting things to pick up but there’s no way it will. This movie simply doesn’t have the budget to do more than the minimum. It tries hard so you forgive the obvious matte paintings and dated CGI but your patience can only go so far. The breaking point will probably be when it shamelessly steals one of the most memorable scenes from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in the laziest way. It’s a steep slope downhill from there. This may sound like a strange criticism but this story is too tightly woven. No character or fact brought up during the beginning of the film doesn’t come back in a meaningful way at the end, making this whole adventure come off as the biggest coincidence of all time.

The Librarian desperately needed a villain that exuded menace. Instead, we get Kyle MacLachlan. He isn’t a bad actor but the material he’s given is weak. We’re told Edward Wilde will be as threatening as Napoleon or Adolf Hitler with the spear in hand but you never feel any dread or tension when he’s on-screen. He’s barely got more presence than our bookworm protagonist.

While there are numerous flaws to list (I’d add that the love plot is weak and unconvincing on top of everything else), there’s a certain charm to The Librarian. Kelly Hu as a member of the Serpent Brotherhood who REALLY thinks highly of Flynn is loads of fun. There are many funny moments spread throughout and even if it’s because you’re having a good time at its expense, you'll have a good time. Your enjoyment diminishes severely if you’ve seen any of Indy’s movies, however, and if you haven’t seen them, you should skip this adventure and watch those instead but I like this movie.
