Permanent Honeymoon Phase Cassian x Female Reader

Mor had invited you to check out a new boutique that had recently opened, and you were always looking for cute new clothes to wear for Cassian. "It's really sickening how in love you are with him." She tells you after hearing about your latest date. "One day, you'll find someone you're crazy about." You tell her. "If you say so." She replies. You keep flipping through the rack before finding the perfect dress. You squeal with excitement at the gradient red to black dress with the thigh-high slit. "He is going to love this!" You announce excitedly before finding the perfect Garnet necklace to go with it. You kept Mor company while she continued to shop as she teased you about your crush on your mate. You knew it was all in fun and that she was genuinely happy for the two of you.

After shopping, you were planning on waiting at home for Cassian, but decided to surprise him after his meeting. You had time to run home and change before making your way to the river house. Once inside, you ran into Feyre. She complimented you on your new dress telling you that you looked gorgeous. "Cassian is going to absolutely love it!" She says, taking in the color of it. "I wanted to surprise him after his meeting." You tell her. "They should be just about done, its just the three of them now if you want to crash it." She says with a smile. "I don't want to be rude and interrupt." You respond. "I do it all the time," she says with a wink, "besides they should be about done, you know them. They are probably just talking and hanging out anyway." She says, rolling her eyes at the idea.

You excuse yourself and make your way to Rhys office. You knock on the door, a second later you hear Rhys say "Come in." You open the door and step inside. Once you are inside, Cassian stares at you. You start second guessing your decision to interrupt them until he is standing in front of you. Before you can say anything, he's picking you up and carrying you out of Rhys's office. "Looks like our meeting is done." Rhys says with a laugh. "You can't blame him. She looks good." You hear Azriel comment, causing you to blush. "I heard that, asshole. Keep your eyes to yourself." Cass yells over his shoulder to him. Azriel just laughs in response.

"You could've finished your meeting." You tell him. "Not a chance in hell. You look too good to keep waiting." He says. You blush at his compliment. "Where should I take you tonight, gorgeous?" How about that new place that opened a few weeks ago, we haven't been there yet." You tell him excitedly. "Sounds good to me. Let's go home so I can change real quick, then I'm all yours." He says. Once you get home, he quickly changes into black pants and a red shirt to match you. "How do I look?" He asks. "Handsome as ever, babe, you know that." You tell him before he escorts you to dinner. You get a table on the patio as the sun begins to set. You spend most of the dinner talking about each others day and flirting. Cassian orders chocolate cake for dessert and splits it with you. He feeds you bites in between his own.

After dessert, you take a walk along the Sidra. "Do you ever think we'll grow out of this phase?" You ask casually. "What do you mean?" He responds. "Do you think you'll ever stop being excited to see me or stop going on dates together?" You elaborate. "Of course not, gorgeous. I love all the things we do together." He says with a smile before leaning in to kiss you. You deepen the kiss, tangling your fingers in his hair. "I love you." You whisper as you break the kiss. "I love you too." He says with a boyish grin. "You're feet have got to be killing you in those heels." He mentions. "A little, but nothing unbearable." You answer. "Let's get you home." He says before picking you up bridal syle and flying you home. He lands gracefully outside the door before carrying you inside.

Once inside, he carries you to the bedroom and sits you on the bed before kneeling you, remove your shoes. His hands grib your foot and gently start massaging them, causing you to let out a low moan, "Cass, that feels amazing." He keeps massaging your foot from the heel to the toes, the achiness from your shoes fading. He switches to the other foot and repeats the process. After your feet are like putty in his hands, he helps you up and takes you into the bathroom. He turns the water on in the shower before starting to undress you. He unzips the back and slips the straps off your shoulders, allowing it to fall in a pool of fabric around your feet. Next to go is your lingerie, and soon you're standing naked in front of him.

You start unbuttoning his shirt, exposing his muscular chest, and abs before you slide it off his shoulders, allow it to join your dress. Next, you unbutton and drop his pants along with his boxer briefs. Now both naked, he leads you into the shower as he lathers up a cloth and gently starts washing you, starting at your neck and working his way to your shoulders. He takes his time washing you from head to toe before rinsing the suds away. He takes your shampoo and gently massages your scalp while washing your hair. "That feels amazing." You tell him. "I love taking care of you." He replies before rinsing your hair. Once he's finished, you switch places. You gently wash him from head to toe, taking extra time to massage his back and shoulders. You smile as you feel the tension leave his body. You wash his hair next while massaging his scalp as he lets out a small moan. You carefully rinse his hair before stepping out and drying each other off.

Well well well, look who's having a real day off for the first time in six thousand years! I'm gonna write because that's what my soul needs! It's time for Audio Drama Sunday! Here's some shows I enjoyed this week...

♟️ @camlannpod first of all. I called it. Second of all. How DARE you. The discussions about names and power in this episode were fascinating and...I don't know, I love a hero who's devastatingly normal. Gwen/Shujun can make anything happen with her words, is the damsel in distress, but she's just normal. Perry is normal, Morgan is normal, and Dai might not be normal by neurotypical measures, but he's just some guy. Except that he's really not. And the group of them can either embrace it or suffer.

🧃There is never a week when @thesiltverses doesn't go all the way off, and this one went ALL the way off. We have to talk about Shrue having a whole breakdown and then moving forward anyway. Felix, Ray, and Daisy were amazing, but I also have to give all the flowers to Rhys Lawton, who I met recently and was an utterly terrible villain in this episode. Corporate horror. Who knew? (Anyone who works in corporate knew.)

🐗 The season finale of @victoriocity was funny and amazing and incredibly well done as always, but the stand-out moments are the moments of friendship between Clara and Fleet. I just. I love them your honor. They are best friends. Do not separate them. It's really good to see Fleet cracking open a little bit. Just a little. He's still Fleet, after all.

🍦I listened to the new Among the Stars and Bones on the way home from work and it was absolutely chilling. My word. The number of times I screamed. Oliver Smith was incredibly scary even in the midst of the horror, Jordan Cobb is always a treat, and my word, the crowd of Nabonidas crew members...Hey, Chris Magilton, writer of Among the Stars and Bones, what the hap is heckening???

1️⃣3️⃣ I've started listening to Thirteen! I love a horror anthology, but especially one with a central theme. So far most of the stories present you with a protagonist who is missing closure, and a creature who offers it, for a price. Thirteen is about grief. The stories are rhythmic and spooky, and at one point alone in my house I actually really scared myself listening. Check out Thirteen, it's a treat.

⛽️ In other shows I've started listening to, @desertskiespodcast is gorgeous and lovely and...the only word I can think of is effervescent. It's like a cold soda on a road trip. It's maybe just what I needed. My favorite part is definitely the cold opens, especially the one about Cash laughing. Jared Carter has incredible comedic timing.

In Inn Between news, we just posted 5.8: The Blood, which might be my favorite episode of the season, depending on how the next one turns out. In The Dead news, this next story is a HUMDINGER. Did you cry at Giancarlo in the last story? GOOD, now it's time to run for your life through London. Y'all are gonna love this.

SJM was definitely in love with Nessian and while she was excited to tell their story, I wouldn't say they gave us a detailed look at "other parts of their world" outside of that which we'd seen through Feyre's pov. We had minor visits to the bog and continent but nothing new in terms of court related visits.

So who is a character she's wildly in love with that could take us elsewhere in their world?

Around 2:14, SJM talks of how Lucien has always been one of her favorite characters

In another interview she mentions how Lucien's character was based off Sam Heughan's portrayal of Jamie Fraser and she even thanks the actor in her ACOTAR acknowledgements.

Her love of Jamie Fraser is further confirmed in an interview from MuggleNet:

"I went to the Outlander castle. I’m the biggest Outlander fan, so I took a photo in front of that like “Maybe Jamie was standing here!”

So I think it's safe to say that Lucien falls under the above category AND he can take us to many different courts outside of the NC, the Human Lands and even the continent.

We also have SJM telling us that she'd love to write spin off books for both of the sisters someday. ⬇️

We have confirmation that she knew who the first two spin-off books were going to be about and that she'd already done research for Elain's book. There's also the mention that if SJM weren't an author she'd be a florist or DJ ⬇️

She writes how she lets her characters lead her, where she loves the times where she's subconsciously been planting seeds and there's an exciting moment of discovery when the character reveals themself to her ⬇️

Her explaining how Elucien became mates is exactly what she described above. And the notable similarities in ACOTAR for both Lucien and Elain before she even knew they were going to be Mates are (to me) some of the subconscious seeds she was referring to. ⬇️

SJM said the following of Elain: ⬇️

She tells us her energy would match well with Elain's. We have a response from her telling us she'd be a florist (a very Elain like career) in another life. We know she LOVES Outlander and the actor she said Lucien was based off of. SJM doesn't equal Elain and Lucien doesn't wholly equal Jamie Fraser but it's ridiculous not to see why she made them mates.

This isn't proof of an Elucien endgame but what it tells me is that Lucien is absolutely a real contender for Elain regardless of what it currently looks like.

Especially when she tells us this about Az:

"but I'm kinda scared of him".

I know she loves all her characters, she said she'd date all her characters but....she wrote Elain as being bothered by cruelty in SF, made sure to mention how cruel Az can be with his victims in SF, and the above interview is from ACOFAS (the same book where she had Rhys say Az sometimes scared the shit out of him). 🤷

This is also how she prefers her couples: ⬇️

That's definitely NOT what we see from Az towards Elain in SF. He doesn't view her as his equal when he says she shouldn't be exposed to the Trove, he doesn't view her as his equal when he gives himself credit for saving Elain but fails to mention everyone she saved, and he doesn't view her as his equal when he confirms he hides who he is from her.

And for the arguments that because E/riel wanted to kiss and Az questioned the Cauldron which must equal proof of love, I'm just going to add this:

It really doesn't matter what the relationship between two characters look like right now, in her own words SJM says she will find a way for the character (reader) to see what she wants them to see, making those red flags easily overlooked.

I don't think Elucien's find it all that difficult to spot the red flags between E/riel but even if some in the fandom disagree, it doesn't mean SJM wasn't been planning for it all along.

Living for the discourse this morning. Just wanted to weigh in on Tim Tam/others.

I left an emotionally abusive relationship a few months before reading ACOTAR. I didn’t love Tamlin, but also didn’t hate him. I did notice a pattern in what I experienced in my relationship, and the behaviour Tamlin was exhibiting.

At the same time, I was cursing Feyre for not just saying she loved him when we were in her head, it’s clear that even though she’s delulu she did have real feelings. Again - very similar to my relationship. Despite all the bad things there were still lots of good things.

I have conflicting thoughts on Rhys, especially after ACOSF. He does a lot of trash things but I am still a bit of simp for him.

From the beginning Lucien was my favourite, I just want my fox boy to be happy and accepted finally. His entire story makes me so damn sad.

I also would prefer to see Azriel on his own for a bit, and if he must end up with someone, I will only accept Eris or someone completely new. Not that SJM would do Azris justice…

Lovely touching video at the end of the Mock the Week finale, though their choice of song did make it seem a little like every person in all of those pictures is dead now.

Every time I’m not actually watching Rhys James in something, I think of him as a fairly amusing comedian. Every time I’m actually watching him, I think, “Oh right, he’s absolutely fucking hilarious. How did I forget this?” He brought the exact energy to that Mock the Week finale that they needed on that day. Edgy, shit stirring, and properly fucking annoyed.

I said this before, but genuinely, someone has to give Angela Barnes a TV show now, right? I just finished listening to her You Can’t Take It with You radio show, remembered how much I like her perspective and approach to telling stories, and she can’t just not be on TV now. She really lit up a few times tonight, I like her dynamic with Rhys a lot. Someone give them both a show, but where Angela’s clearly the one in charge.

ABK was also on fire in the Mock the Week finale, a few really good quips. He’s the kind of person Mock the Week was supposed to stick around for, the one who’s done lots of cool shit in comedy that’s not on TV, and is supposed to have Mock the Week to get him into television.

Zoe Lyons on the finale was a lovely touch, another blast from the past. Part of Mock the Week’s past, but also a further blast from my personal past than almost any of these comedians, as she was part of the cabal of News Quiz lesbians that were a big deal for me when I first started listening to The News Quiz shortly after coming out. 2007-2008 was hardly the world’s most difficult time to work out that you were mostly gay (bisexual but leaning mostly gay, it’s a reasonable way to describe my sexual orientation), but it was a harder time than it is now; I was watching shit quality streams of the awful show The L Word because I didn’t know any other gay women in real life, and that and Buffy were my only sources of representation. So, you know, it was pretty great in 2009 when I discovered the News Quiz and its lesbians. Susan Calman, Zoe Lyons, Sue Perkins, and of course Toksvig was their queen. And mine. You think I get sentimental about Britcom shows now? This is how I get over shows I’ve only been into for 2.5 years. You should have seen me with actual tears in my eyes as I listened to Phill Jupitus read his Nothing Rhymes with Toksvig poem at the end of Sandi’s last episode of The News Quiz. Anyway, I didn’t even know what Zoe Lyons looked like until I watched Mock the Week in summer 2020, but I’ve known her voice for years. It was great to see her.

While I’m at this, throwback to one of the first posts I ever made on this blog, when I reached s09e04 of Mock the Week and posted a screenshot to acknowledge the lovely butch/butch lesbian couple that were on a team together that week.

I have never seen any episode of anything that hasn’t been improved by the presence of Ahir Shah. Some nice moments in Scenes. A generous laugh. An ability to go back and forth with anyone that was made for panel shows. Also should have been part of Mock the Week’s future.

No words needed for Dara and Hugh. Except, perhaps, the word “vigorously”.

After these next books i’m desperate for more feyre and rhys 😭 i will get on my hands and knees for miss janet married or not for another novella of them, yes i’m greedy i know. She said it’s a possibility once she’s done writing these next books and if she has inspiration for a storyline for them then she’ll do after a these other stories are told and i am gonna hold her to it. Just because, we have alot of feysand but it feels like we didn’t get to have them at their full glory, imagine if we got sexy time feysand in adult like nessian did in Acosf. maybe i’m reading more adult books these days and just want to feel that same vibe with them, no restrictions just us getting them unfiltered in all ways. What do you think? i know feysands have alot of content as it is though so I can understand people wanting to move on fully to new things

Honestly, I'm really happy with the Feysand story that's been told in the original trilogy and I'm happy for the stories to move on to other characters. In fact, I wish they would. I was deeply unhappy with the Feysand background plot we got in ACoSF and I hope that SJM avoids putting them through needless trauma/relationship conflict to drive the plot forward in future books. I love Feysand so much, and I want them to be happy. They've already gotten their fluffy novella, and I can't see why SJM would write them another one without introducing some sort of conflict that I don't want to see them go through.

Also, I'm not really a person who cares too much about canon would be/won't be. I'm extremely happy in my fanfic space where we have our little sandbox to play around with different scenarios. If you want spicy feysand, I have a very in depth list of Feysand smut recs here. 🥰 No real loss to me that we didn't get spicy adult feysand in canon when there's so many talented people making up the difference.

5) Time Traveling OP Gwen torchwood fic (the replacer) + S1 Gwen wakes up in the future surrounded by loving, understanding friends and family and so many things are done to try and figure out who took Gwen's memories this time because Eve hasn't senses any other Mnemosinea in the area... And then Rhys, thinking about His Gwen calls Gwen's phone.... And she answers. From 2008. Talk about a long distance relationship, huh? Lots of dynamics between the future and past versions of each other as they try to sort out their lives and relationships again as Future!Gwen storms ahead "fixing" her new timeline and Past!Gwen has to get caught up on everything she's missed!

7) Adrien has one (1) competent bone in his body for once and damn it, he's going to go to hell, but at least this time it's for a good cause (S4 finale AU where we don't break the fucking world building laws to make the shitty writing work, and Adrien makes a snap decision to save the day, and actually gets character development)

8) Danny falls asleep in class, and stops breathing from ghost instinct. Dash is sitting right behind him having a silent attack of horror the longer class goes on.

9) "like you" DP vivisection fic inspired by Evanescence song of the same title.

Ramble of the month May 2022: The plot of my 90’s Marvel MCU

Here we are in May, and on my fifth ramble of the month article. Having done one in January on how a 90’s MCU fancast is more than just putting 90’s actors into the current MCU, and one in March explaining my own choices in terms of who to cast, now there’s the matter of what those actors are playing. In other words, what is the narrative of this hypothetical 90’s MCU I’ve conceived of? What story does each film tell?

First off, let’s remind ourselves of the film slate I’ve come up with that would be the ‘phase one’ of the 90’s MCU;

1992: Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man

1993: Thor, Spider-Man, Ant-Man & The Wasp

1994: Captain America, Fantastic Four 2, Iron Man 2

1995: X-Men, Avengers, Daredevil

As with the phase 1 of the real MCU, this one is about establishing the various characters and the world in which they exist and operate. As I explained in my March ramble, the Fantastic Four kick us off to better honour the comics by putting them in as the first superhero team of the MCU. To that end, we’ll start our plot outlines there, but before we get into plot, here’s the cast list again;

Fantastic Four:

Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic = Tom Hanks

Ben Grimm/Thing = Bryan Cranston

For me, this film would very much be the F4’s origin arc, but like most Marvel hero origins, it needs a tweak. The idea of the F4’s space mission origin remains valid in the present day, but it needs an alternative rationale to what the comics first gave it if it’s sent outside the Cold War. In 1961, Reed Richards and the other F4 members pushing their shuttle launch in the midst of the “space race” makes perfect sense. In the 1990’s, it needs a different spin; the F4 animated series suggested the mission was to investigate what would later turn out to be the Silver Surfer flying past the Earth. However, this then undermines the idea of using the Surfer and Galactus on later films, or else forces them to become featured antagonists too soon.

As such, my idea would be to put an MCU twist on what Fox gave us in their first version of the F4 on screen. Reed wants to get up into space and study the cosmic radiation cloud about to pass Earth’s orbit, only this time he’s been building the shuttle and space station as part of a joint venture between Stark Enterprises and SHIELD, which teases the wider MCU without bringing non-F4 characters into the main film (you might get Fury or Stark doing a mid-credits/end-of-credits tag scene). Something gets the higher-ups nervous, the launch is officially scrubbed, but Reed and his team go anyway, resulting in the incident that causes them to manifest powers when they crash-land back on Earth.

However, rather than bring the F4 back down somewhere in rural Pennsylvania like the comics, I’d have them brought down over New York City, perhaps over-shooting it a bit to crash-land a bit upstate. In the process, radiation-laced debris shards would rain down over New York City and result in an early rise of super-villain types. One such individual that would be affected would be Phillip Masters, the step-father of Ben Grimm’s blind girlfriend Alicia Masters. Known as the Puppet Master in the comics, Masters has the ability to control others by making clay puppets of people out of a radioactive clay. In this film, I’d want to flip that power and make the clay simply a conduit for a power within Masters himself.

However, I wouldn’t want Masters to act right off; he’d be in a coma for a while, during which the Fantastic Four would establish themselves as heroes and become public celebrities, alternating between fighting minor supervillains, scientific exploration and charity work, not to mention Reed’s inventing that funds the F4 via his patents. At the same time, Reed would be looking into how to reverse Ben’s transformation into the Thing, though with true-to-source lack of success. Masters would awaken from his coma and take his over-protective dad routine against Ben to supervillain heights, resulting in a confrontation with the F4.

Unfortunately, Masters’ efforts would also attract the attention of the Mole Man, a man who has claimed dominion over a secret underworld kingdom after being shunned by the surface world for his appearance. Fearing the surface world is now a threat with the emergence of enhanced human beings, Mole Man decides to attack to wipe them out. In the ensuing chaos, the F4 are temporarily separated; Reed and Johnny work to keep Alicia safe while Ben and Sue try to muddle through despite the interference and objection of a wounded Masters.

In the third act, Masters would come to realise his error in misjudging Ben, and would commit an act of self-sacrifice to stop the Mole Man, resulting in the elimination of both antagonists. The vindication of his girlfriend’s step-dad would convince Ben to have Reed leave off any cure efforts for a while, and the F4 would proceed with continuing their various good works. Cue some appropriate end-of credit scenes and on to the Hulk;

Hulk:

Bruce Banner/Hulk = John Cusack

Betty Ross = Jennifer Connelly

General Ross = Sam Elliott

Major Talbot = Steve Guttenberg

Rick Jones = Tobey Maguire

Emil Blonsky/Abomination = Sam Neill

Dr Leonard Samson = David Duchovny

For Hulk, we’re again going down the origin story route, complete with Major Talbot being General Ross’ adjutant, the inclusion of Rick Jones, etc. Like the F4, the Hulk’s origins are heavily steeped in the Cold War in the comics, with Bruce Banner saving Rick Jones from being caught in the test explosion of a gamma bomb being the basic premise. More modern adaptations have made the Hulk an effort to re-create Captain America, which lacks the requisite self-sacrifice of a true heroic origin, and for that reason, I’d steer well away from doing that. Instead, the origin would be adapted as the 90’s Hulk animated series did; make it a gamma power reactor instead of a gamma bomb, have the reactor meltdown, and get Banner to save Jones by shoving him into a proper bunker, not just some open trench like in the comics.

This film would still end up with Hulk fighting the Abomination after a few rounds with the military, but this time round, Blonsky would be closer to the comics than we get in The Incredible Hulk. The beauty of an early 90’s film is that not all Russians went quietly into peace, so it’d be easy to play Blonsky as an undercover ex-KGB agent who covets Hulk’s power so he can go home and try to restore the USSR. In essence, he’d sell Ross and Talbot on being turned into a gamma-powered opponent to the Hulk, using the inverse of a process developed by Betty and fellow scientist Dr Leonard Samson to remove Hulk’s gamma powers. Once he has his powers, cue the typical villain reveal, and the subsequent climactic battle.

In the wake of the battle, the Hulk would escape, Rick Jones heading off to keep him out of trouble, the military forced to let him go for now, and Betty and Samson ready to figure out a new cure effort. We could also see a teaser for Samson eventually going in for his own set of gamma powers, and again throw in the odd mid/end-credit scene to tease suitable MCU links.

Iron Man:

Tony Stark/Iron Man = Tom Selleck

James Rhodes = Samuel L Jackson

Pepper Potts = Uma Thurman

Happy Hogan = Sylvester Stallone

Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger = Kelsey Grammer

Agent Jasper Sitwell = Bill Paxton

Agent Clint Barton = Kevin Costner

For the most part, what we got by of the Iron Man film in the existing MCU would go into the 90’s version as well, but there would be differences as well. First off, I’d want Tony to eventually cut out his drinking, etc. out of necessity a la the comics, so I’d be careful to drop hints that this would be coming and be less casual with it compared to Favreau’s version. Second, because I’d be gearing up to ultimately do a film in a later phase show-casing Tony’s alcoholism, I’d avoid putting Rhodey in armour for a while longer than the real MCU did. In the comics, Rhodey was an interim Iron Man, then became War Machine, and I’d want the ability to go down that route kept intact for my 90’s MCU.

Next, working Hawkeye and Sitwell in as the SHIELD agents is done on purpose because both have ties to Iron Man above most other characters in the comics; Hawkeye was initially an Iron Man foe along with the Black Widow, and Sitwell was a SHIELD loyalist who was the spy agency’s liaison to Stark’s company. Finally, this time Tony’s keeping his dual identity under wraps. The F4 can’t stand out for lacking secret identities if all other superheroes go public with theirs, so Iron Man needs to be kept separate from Tony Stark in the eyes of the 90’s MCU general public.

Thor’s basic origin arc as provided by Kenneth Branagh’s film is a good overall template for our 90’s MCU, but some tweaks are still needed. For a start, this time I’d probably want to keep SHIELD out of the main areas of the story and avoid some original characters like Darcy, or at least change them a bit more. Take the Earth scenes from New Mexico to New York and make Jane Foster a paramedic, who comes across Thor after he’s been beaten by muggers following the loss of his powers and exile to Earth. As to why the F4 might not appear in the film if Loki sends the Destroyer a la Branagh’s film, easy enough to show Loki using his magic to teleport the “local heroes” out of the way to another Asgardian realm.

Now as I noted in outlining my casting reasons on this film in my March ramble, in the comics Jane Foster was a nurse to Dr Donald Blake, Thor’s then-alter ego. The modernisation of her as a paramedic, used in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, gives us a more comic-accurate option than her astrophysicist occupation of the real MCU. It also makes her more action-oriented and thus a better partner for a very physical, non-cerebral hero archetype like Thor. If Darcy was kept in from the real MCU, I’d probably work her in as Jane’s junior partner on the ambulance runs.

Spider-Man:

With Spider-Man, I’d be taking everything right back to Peter’s classic comic-book origins; he’s in high school with Liz Allen as his crush, Flash Thompson bullying him, Harry Osborn, Mary-Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy still in the future. That said, I’d give him Randy Robertson as a best mate as a better compromise of comic accuracy and diversity requirements than race-shifting Ned Leeds, Flash Thompson and MJ, plus it gives added viability to the idea of Peter getting a freelance photography job at the Daily Bugle (Randy’s dad being Jameson’s editor and thus right-hand man of the Bugle).

Of course, the origin arc is just act one of the film; for the rest of it, we’ve got the Vulture rearing his head, presenting as a former business colleague of Norman Osborn’s who is committing acts of theft and sabotage as revenge for being pushed out by Osborn. Now although this does mean we get to meet the Osborns in this film, Peter only meets the dad as Spider-Man and doesn’t meet Harry yet at all; this film is just setting up for a film two as Peter goes into college, where he gets to meet Harry, Gwen and MJ a la the comics. In essence, this film is an amalgam of the classic comic origins, the Spider-Man film made by Raimi and Maguire, the 90’s animated series and the first Spider-Man film of the real MCU.

Ant-Man & The Wasp:

Hank Pym/Ant-Man = Michael Douglas

Janet Van Dyne/Wasp = Catherine Zeta Jones

Dr Elias Starr = Richard Schiff

Darren Cross/Yellowjacket = Rob Lowe

For me, this film is very tricky to plot out, beyond perhaps doing Hank Pym and Elias Starr as rivals in the development of shrinking tech, and Cross being a criminal who double-crosses Starr to gain the Yellowjacket suit, forcing Pym not only to hero up and stop him, but also accept the assistance of his new love interest Janet Van Dyne. Assuming that to be the most basic outline of the plot, I would be tempted to borrow further from the comics and show via flashback Pym’s original wife being detained and later executed by the soviets. For that role, I’d add Izabella Scorupco from the mid-90’s Goldeneye film as the late Maria Pym. Set up could also be worked in for the later appearance of Whirlwind, Janet’s chauffeur-turned-stalker from the comics, but as yet I’m not sure who I’d cast for that role.

Captain America:

Peggy Carter = Lea Thompson

Colonel Chester Phillips = Charlton Heston

Dr Abraham Erskine = F. Murray Abraham

Nick Fury = Tommy Lee Jones

Johann Schmidt/Red Skull = Hugo Weaving

Arnim Zola = Toby Jones

Howard Stark = Donald Sutherland

A Captain America film like the one we got for the real MCU would work best here, but as ever when using what the real MCU gave us, my hypothetical films need to make some tweaks. For starters, the Carters are all American, so Lea Thompson isn’t about to play her role with any kind of an English accent. Next, I’m working in Fury as a sergeant leading the Howling Commandoes under Cap like the comics, with the intention of a later film showcasing how he’s then able to live unaged into the 1990’s. Barnes is given a bit of a Nightwing-style persona compared to his original Robin-like one as there’d be no Winter Soldier yet conceived of as an alternative formulation for the character.

Finally, I’d probably want to include the odd cameo of Cap fighting alongside characters that might make it into later films. The original Union Jack and Wolverine would top that list, and it’s not like a full roster of Cap’s old World War II allies would even be necessary. Just a couple of options to tease future projects would suffice. As ever, end on Cap going for an ice bath and coming to in the modern world, and this gives Fury’s appearance added resonance and mystery because he’s the one the guy who has beaten time, though the how of that is left for a future film to explain. Oh, and no Tesseract/Space Stone involvement either; if my MCU ever did go down the Infinity arc, it’d be a lot later in the run.

F4 2:

Silver Surfer = David Wenham

Galactus = Tony Todd

At just past the half-way point of this first phase of the MCU, working in a sequel or two isn’t the worst idea in the world for breaking up the run of introductions we’ve been making. For the F4’s second film, we’re doing the classic Silver Surfer and Galactus arc from the comics that started off multi-issue story-telling in comics, or at least encouraged it as a regular tool of the industry. Outside of that, and the would-be love triangle between the Surfer, Alicia and Ben Grimm, I’d also want to see a Sue-Reed romance arc culminating in the pair getting engaged, setting the team on the road to becoming a superhero family. It occurs to me, however, that to do the Silver Surfer and Galactus story from the comics, the Watcher also needs to appear. As that would be a CGI role needing a great voice actor, I’d probably cast James Earl Jones for that part.

IM 2:

As with our first Iron Man film, 90’s Iron Man 2 borrows from its real MCU counter-part, but with tweaks, the first one being Vanko sticking to his original comics alter ego instead of borrowing from Whiplash. Second, no Justin Hammer, we leave out Tony’s chest-piece killing him and just worsen his drinking problems, and of course Tony’s keeping up a dual identity. As such, the film ends on a less positive note, with Pepper Potts going off with Happy Hogan and no War Machine yet to be seen.

X-Men:

After so long borrowing from existing films, my MCU’s version of the X-Men will be going down a different route. For this film, the X-Men and the Brotherhood are engaged in a shadow war that is starting to spill into the public awareness, which is then escalated when troubled runaway Tabitha Smith (better known to comic fans as Boom-Boom) gets caught in the crossfire of one such clash. Soon after, Magneto takes his crusade public, and the government reacts with a heavy-handed paranoia typical of the comics. Enter the Sentinels, who soon decide to attack humans as well, prompting the X-Men to stand up and be heroes in a very public light. For the purposes of appeasing fans that may ask “why didn’t x, y and z get involved,” a scene or two could be thrown in showing intervention by the F4 and Spider-Man.

Avengers:

This film would again have similarity to the original Avengers film of the real MCU, but having tweaked some of the past films to give us something more in line with the comics, this one would undergo the same process. Stark would have to downplay his alcoholism and the team would be less open due to his dual identity not being public knowledge. This would give the Avengers something to overcome in their formation beyond the threat of Loki. As this film would also pre-date the creation of the Chitauri in the comics, Loki’s invasion would be fully headed by him, there’s be no space stone involved (my idea of an initial long-term pay-off for the start of my MCU not being Infinity War), and as with the X-Men film, there’d need to be scenes or exposition to show if other heroes were involved, and if not why.

Daredevil:

Finally, we come to the cinematic introduction of the man without fear into our 90’s MCU. As ever, start with the classic origin of the comics and go into the present-day showing Daredevil taking down the Kingpin despite opposition in the form of Bullseye. However, unlike Fox’s film effort from the early 2000’s, I don’t want to rush the incorporation of Elektra into the films, so the first film is really about setting up Fisk and Bullseye with the kind of mad-ons for ol’ hornhead that would justify an Elektra arc later on. For this film, we’re just going with Matt having a thing with his secretary in honour of the early Daredevil comics.

In due course, I may return to this 90’s MCU yet again and outline more films to expand on what I’ve conceived thus far in the hypothetical. Plenty of sequels can be made, and I’ve yet to touch on characters like Dr Strange, Black Panther and various solo superheroines, not to mention the original superhero non-team the Defenders (not to be confused with the Netflix line-up that was really just Heroes for Hire plus two). just for starters, my activity is extremely slow, and i am 100% selective and picky about who i write with. just due to the fact my attention is quite unpredictable, and i do work a full time job which really wears me out.

Hello, I’ve been unable to watch the NYCC panel but I see everywhere that is was awful and weird?!?! What actually happened ? Could you make a little recap for people like me who didn’t get to see it? Thank you!

I'll try my best ✌️ this is just the impression I got though (and sorry this got long lmao)

it was awkward because they weren't allowed to talk about ofmd, which made the whole thing seem more and more ridiculous as it went on. in addition, they had to do a sort of game where they were asked questions like "who is the most likely to do [x]" and then write a name on a board and reveal it at the same time. this could've been fine for maybe 10 minutes but they had them do it for the whole hour.

the issues with this game were that 1) the questions were very "generic corporate ice breaker questions", 2) they spent a lot of time in silence writing down, and 3) when a question finally did lead to stories or conversation, it was quickly shut down in order to move on to the next boring question and writing in silence.

they could've asked them about non-struck work (Rhys even brought up the books he's written several times and it wasn't followed up on), they could've collected and vetted fan questions beforehand, they could've just let them talk idk, they could've found a more fun game or ditched the boards (one of my fav moments was Rhys saying something like "I have a mic, why do I have to write it down?" honestly this would've made it 25% less boring lmao).

adding to that, there were sound issues meaning that Con and Rhys couldn't hear what was going on a lot of the time. Rhys said it again and again and nothing was done about it.

you could just tell how frustrated they all were and what this panel could have been if not for the shitty studios refusing a fair deal for the actors. I think the cast did what they could, and there were some sweet and funny moments. but it was clear that Rhys was pissed about not being able to talk about what they all wanted to talk about (I felt bad for everyone but especially for him).

they did a whole "ha ha we were all in New Zealand at the same time what a coincidence" thing and Rhys said that (paraphrased) if only they could be paid fairly, they could create something great with all the talent in the room, going off on the studios for a bit. it was honestly a bit of a relief for someone to voice it (to me, it felt like someone had to say something lmao and he did).

in the end they got a question about fantasy worlds. Rhys said he already lived in a fantasy world in his head and it was nice, though this was one of the odder moments. Matt and Nathan basically agreed and said it was all very weird (in different words). Rhys then said fantasy worlds are important because the real world is shit right now and there's no denying it; that in fantasy worlds we can all love each other and use kindness; and it's important to keep creating and believing in them until the real world becomes like that too.

and then he said "goodnight" (= "fuck this shit I'm out"), got up, put on his sunglasses, and started beat-boxing and rapping saying "why can't we talk about the show". their time had run out anyway, he said it had certainly been an experience, that he couldn't hear much of what was going on, and they all thanked the audience and it ended ✌️

anyway this is just my take and I hope SAG-AFTRA get a fair deal soon so the cast can celebrate the show with us like they so clearly want to. I also hope Matthew Maher does more panels after this (it was his first I think!) despite it being such a weird experience because he was great to watch!! anyway they're all happily doing photo ops and autographs now I guess 🤸

sdv 1.6 spoilers under cut. it's not out yet i just know spoilers b/c of what concernedape has posted. yes this is an oc post

it's update day and i haven't figured out which kid i want to play on the new farm argh. all i know about the new layout is that there's blue grass that animals love and you can start with a coop, so. blue and animals.

easy answer is 'play charlie again' but i've done them like at least once on pc and once on my switch and i don't need to play them AGAIN. if i really want to see new stuff on them i can just load up their existing saves. for the other kids in that 'verse, i've also got parker who would hate running a farm, rhys who i've done before, and sparrow who hates people so they wouldn't be a fun fit for the game. so none of them

out of the rescueverse kids, asya is my strongest contender, though she exists in the fallen farm we've got going. i've got an ongoing save for ivan for this dumb au of mine and that's the only version i'm interested in rn for him. anya's not the farm type. sergey would hate the manual labor. i'm really just not interested in playing as cian. outside of that group, no real interest in throwing anyone else on a farm.

dnd kids! starting with the pc list, kids i've actually played or had plans to play. finley legit is a farm girl but i'm not interested. niamh's a city girl and also i'd like to play someone where i can romance a villager. zanlamin might work but idk if i'd like to humanize him or just make a weird red boy running around, and he wouldn't have pointed ears. wait zanlamin's aro isn't he, i ask, as if i don't have the sheet up as i'm talking about it, and yes he's aro, that'd be a no-romance run. so nevermind lol. zenith could have fun on a farm, he could have fun most anywhere, zenith is always a possibility and i always want to play him more lol he's technically functionally aro but he is down for romance, but idk. as the kid i'm currently playing, mik could also be fun, though he's not necessarily the farming type and he's not that interested in animals so i feel like the new layout is kinda wasted on him.

for extra dnd kids... no one is super sticking out to me. i could do a younger version of naevys, the woman who finds zenith. that could be fun. again, either gotta humanize her or make her gray without elf ears tho. i always wanna think about merri lately but he's not a great fit for this game and also the tattoos, can't give him his tattoos. he does love animals though!

other ocs!! i used to put zephyr in video games all the time, but he's more fun to force into rpg roles. not interested in anyone from pbjverse. i could see asim doing well on the farm but idk. he's a maybe i guess, not too enthusiastic about that. deacon is just funny to me, werewolf running a farm. i could spin achlys as this being another life of his with another host, like i have his hosts established already but y'know. AUs. like no yeah i'm totally this guy's grandkid, yeah, don't worry about it. for trverse, magali was my main oc overall for a long time, she could be fun! no interest in anyone else there. for vg fancharacters i'd only really consider abaddon and. hm. we'll consider. she'd work better on the monster farm is the only thing so maybe i'll play her another time. and taking a look at my 'other' list, no one super sticks out.

SO WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE ME. we've got asya, zenith, mik, naevys, deacon, achlys, magali. idk if i'm leaning more towards one over the others rn. we.... will think about it

Wreckless - The Swingers Club

Every evening this week I've come home to an empty house.

Emmett is either still at his course, if I manage to make it home at a reasonable hour or out in the garden.

I yell for him as I walk through the foyer and take off my jacket but he must be outside... his SUV is in the garage.

I walk onto the deck and nearly blow a gasket.

"EMMETT."

"Do you like it?" he asks, beaming up at me.

He wipes the sweat from his brow with his arm and looks so ruggedly handsome holding that wrench that if I had ovaries, they'd be exploding.

Instead my cock hardens but I'm so excited at what he's built that I practically slip into little mode right then and there.

"It's a swing."

As if he doesn't know.

He found room in his precious garden to build me a swing.

I can't with this man.

Speaking of the garden, it looks phenomenal.

It was pretty before but Emmett has worked wonders the past two weeks.

"It is. I found the concrete footings when I was planting. I think they had one of those garden swings in here before but I figured you'd rather have a real one."

I'm already down the stairs and I kiss him quickly on the cheek before hopping on.

"Will you push me?"

"Of course but not too high. I haven't tested it yet."

He gets me started and I get going really fast... plenty high for it to be fun.

"This is the best. You're the best. Thank you Emmett."

He chuckles, then starts putting his tools away.

"You're welcome, darling. Didn't plan on finishing it today... afternoon class got canceled... our speaker was a no-show."

That sounds bad.

"I'm sorry."

"No worries... I was kinda brain dead already. How was your day, grasshopper?"

"Good. A good week, actually."

Insanely busy but I was productive instead of putting out fires all day. He hops on the other swing and I laugh.

"Emmett."

"I've got to make sure it'll hold Rhys tomorrow."

"A very good idea... he will definitely want to swing. Is Quincy gonna give you a cooking lesson?"

We have a shiny new grill on our deck, along with a table and an umbrella.

There's a comfy couch too, for Emmett.

It's wonderful, especially on days like this when the weather is perfect.

"Yep. Quincy promised that he won't let me burn the house down so no worries. I got you and Rhys some water balloons, I thought they'd be fun if it gets as hot as they're saying. Weird for this time of year, it may be the last really hot day."

That's sad.

"Winter schminter," I complain, pumping my legs to keep myself going.

"We'll have fall first. Apples and pumpkins and Halloween," he reminds me.

He's not swinging as high as I am, he's being lazy.

"I like all of those. I'm hungry. I want a sandwich."

I slow down and hate to get off the swing but it's mine... I can come back anytime until stupid winter.

"There's scalloped potatoes and kielbasa in the oven, should be done."

Casserole sounds better than a sandwich.

"The one with the cabbage?"

"Yep."

I love that one.

"Yum, thank you."

At almost exactly 11 o'clock... I see Quincy's truck come up the driveway.

"They're here," I yell to Emmett who's watching TV.

He clicks it off and comes with me out the front door.

"Hi Rhys," I wave as he climbs down from the huge truck and he has a present in his hands.

"What's that?"

"It's for you," he tells me, bouncing as he hands me the gift.

"For your new room and new house. This is a BIG house," he says in awe, looking up.

"Crazy big but I love it. Come in," I practically drag him in and take him straight downstairs.

"This is my room."

I open the door and he gasps.

"Finn. This is amazing."

He runs right over and sits down in front of the train.

"Can we play trains?"

"I wanna open my present, can I do it now?"

"I don't know, you might wanna ask Emmett."

Fine. I trudge upstairs... Rhys on my heels.

"Emmett, can I open it? Quincy?"

Quincy nods at Emmett.

"Sure, grasshopper. You boys want some drinks to take downstairs? We'll play outside after lunch."

"Okay."

A present is really nice but...

"You didn't have to get me anything."

I shake it gently. It's sort of heavy and it sounds like things are moving inside.

"I wanted to," Rhys says.

"Picked them all myself. Well not one, Quincy picked one and he wrapped it."

It's not taped up too much which was very nice of Quincy.

I lift the flap and inside are cars.

I dump them on the table.

"These are awesome."

There's a blue race car, a huge black truck, a little red car with a white stripe, a motorcycle and an ambulance.

Quincy laughs when I hold the ambulance up.

"Emmett told us how you met so I figured you might need that," he jokes.

"A boy can never have enough cars, hope you like them."

"I do, thank you."

Emmett is smiling too, he thinks it's funny.

"I can use them with my rug. Rhys, I got a rug like yours."

"I saw it but Quincy, Finn has a train. Can we go play?"

"Of course, bunny. Be good and remember what I told you."

"Yes Quincy," he says solemnly.

"If I take anything that's not mine, you'll shove it up my ass."

Quincy chuckles.

"At least he'll be more selective if nothing else," he tells Emmett.

"Now go on and play."

Raise your hand if you too are not interested in reading any more Feyre and Rhysand content from SJM and are more interested in hearing the stories of the more interesting and relatable characters like Gwyn, Emerie, Eris, Lucien, Jurian, Vassa, Elain, etc…and yes I will say Tamlin too (just because I need to see him fix his court and be a better person, cuz I can forgive what he did but I just don’t have to forget it) cuz let’s all be honest for a second, please. The time of Rhys and Feyre is done and over, and has been since the ending of ACOWAR. They had a beautiful story (toxic moments aside) and now they are happy with a baby (even tho that whole plot drove me nuts with the twilight birth… and Nesta losing her powers) let the spotlight shine on a new storyline. There are so many better and more interesting paths to go down and I’m sorry but none of them, to me at least, involve them being the main focus.

• Let’s hear about the Illyrian rebellion we all now is on the way, the Valkyries stepping in to help the females in not just the Night court but in all of Pythian. Getting to know more about Vallhan where Mor disappeared to for most of the ACOSF storyline.

• Let’s hear more about the deal made with the Court of Nightmares and whether or not everyone down there really deserves it. Or if there are innocent ppl trapped down there that are (as the IC would say) dreamers too trapped in the dark.

• Let’s hear more about Vassa and Jurian (and Lucien a little bit) taking back the mortal lands and saving the ppl from the terrible reign of her horrible sisters. Getting rid of her firebird curse and rebuilding fae and human relationships.

• Let see what could happen between Eris and his court (also I really really really want to see a connection with him and Balthazar cuz let’s be real here Eris is a fine specimen and I have a feeling he plays for both teams and this relationship would be painful but epic) cuz I KNOW there is more to him and it’s not bad…or at least all bad. He hides under a mask just as we found out Rhys did and Mor’s hints in the books tell us there is more to the story of her torture and Eris might’ve done nothing wrong and took the fall to protect them both. I want him to be high lord and to show the real Eris under the mask that’s been hiding for so long.

• Let’s hear about Tamiln and his steps to rebuild his court and mending his relationships with the other courts and kingdoms cuz he messed up big time. But he isn’t the first nor will he be the last person to do so and I honestly think everyone deserves a second chance. Maybe even give him a chance at a real relationship and happiness, because the world is a better place when everyone is happy.

• Let’s hear more about Lucien and possibly Elain working together (mating bond accepted…selfish yes for me I think they are cute even mating bind aside) to figure out the whole mess with Kcoshie and the prison and the possibility of an 8th court aka the Dusk court. (I do have an evil Elain theory that she is being controlled by him to get himself out of the lake but that’s a conversation for another time…I do like her, I just want to see…more.)

• Let’s hear some more about Nesta and her courtier traits that are just as powerful has her ability to fight. Her building better relations with her sisters. Learning more about her connection to the mother. Of her powers are actual gone or just concealed by magic. Why the glamor from Tamlin didn’t work on her in the hovel, was her family part fae?

• Let hear more about Azriel! I am an Azriel and Gwyn shipper so there is a selfish part of me that wants to see what type of story could become if the two (let’s not forget the whole necklace situation 😬 not the smartest move you’ve made Az…) and them opening up and being happy. I honestly want there to be more and from what I listed above there can be.

• This is a ramble list: let’s hear about, The Dead Trove, the fourth object, light singers, the mother, the lost magical swords, the cauldron, wtf happened to Bryaxis, and I’m sure many more that I’m not thinking of at the moment but I will later and I’ll kick myself for not adding them to this list.

And none of it needs to have Feyre and Rhys at the center of it, SJM I get they are your favorites and you have a slight unhealthy addiction to them but for the shake of your fandom open up to your other characters and their untold stories. There were so many things that were swept under the rug in ACOSF (Nesta’s powers and trauma for one) and they deserve to be written about. The secret not so secret Easter eggs from her other series that keep popping up in her books. I also want to know more about the Middle and what happened to it that made it so chaotic and frightening. We don’t need more of Feyre and Rhys (also not sure how I feel about Nyx cuz well…he’s a baby what is he really gonna do but be a kidnapping beacon), we got enough from them that if they pop up in the background for a little bit we will be fine. So please, please let there be more stories from other Characters. This series gave us a story to latch onto and we did. Now we have also latched on to the “side characters” that have representation of so many people around the world that deserve to see their story told. You’ve given hints for a big crossover tabled for “someday” so why don’t you get started on the stories that need to be told before that happens, cuz we know you SJM well enough to know that more needs to happen before then. It just doesn’t have to be a Feyre and Rhys story anymore. There are other stories to tell💕

I wish people stopped defending Nesta and making others look like the bad guys, just because Elain, Feyre, and the others realized they couldn’t do the work for Nesta, she had to do it herself.

And it’s disrespectful too, because, I’m sorry, but, even if the IC and Elain didn’t walk to talk to Nesta anymore, they’d have every right.

No one’s saying Nesta is evil or doesn’t deserve happiness, but what she did is messed up, no matter her reasons. She can find happiness with new friends, even old ones and family if they want to forgive her, but they shouldn’t be forced to.

I have experience with this, and reading Nesta’s lines reminds me of my own trauma at the hands of someone who treated me like she did Feyre, the IC, later Elain, and justified it with their problems.

You guys have no idea how it fucks you up.

So, please, be mindful. I respect having the strength to support Nesta and wanting to be by her side, but be respectful to the damages the behaviour of people like her causes.

So much yes to what you said.

I'm thrilled Nesta has begun to find her people and her happiness but.....

If someone feels that Nesta did not owe any of the characters anything because of her trauma, despite what they may have done for her (especially Feyre), then why should Elain have owed Nesta anything despite what Nesta may have done for her? Why did Rhys owe Nesta respect? Why did Cassian owe Nesta his patience and kindness?

If the narrative is that no one owes anyone anything because of their trauma then why are we only extending that to Nesta but no one else as they all had trauma?

Feyre kept Nesta alive for years yet Nesta was allowed to verbally lash out at her and take her money without even bothering to want to see her. That's Feyre doing things for Nesta and Nesta not treating her well and people saying that was alright because Nesta was struggling.

So why should Elain have to do anything for Nesta just because Nesta did something for her (and really what did Nesta do for her? Sit quietly by her side while Elain personally pushed her way through the worst of her own trauma with no real help from anyone)? Not to mention that was her trauma from being Made and losing Graysen. What about the trauma Elain had from being kidnapped a second time? Having to stab a man? Her fathers death? Regardless of what anyone thinks, Elain is still struggling with her trauma too, she's not 100% fine.

I'm not even saying Elain did nothing because it is canon that she did reach out to Nesta and Nesta shut her down. Nesta told her that she did not want to be around her and I'm sorry but that doesn't really feel good to hear so why would Elain continue reaching out to Nesta only to be told "go away, my life doesn't include you?" Did Elain seem like she was in a place to deal with more rejection? But still, just because someone does something for you doesn't mean you're obligated to do something for them.

And of course the IC didn't ship Elain off somewhere, what reason would there have been for that? She wasn't wasting their money, she wasn't partaking in anything dangerous, she wasn't being disrespectful to them. She was basically an extra piece of furniture in their house. They worried about her but she wasn't causing problems for them or their Court.

And why are we placing the blame on the other characters for not knowing what Nesta needed? They tried to be nice and include her. That didn't work. They tried to give her space and money she wasn't even earning at that point so she could hopefully work it out herself. That didn't work. They finally put their foot down and gave her one of two options (or Nesta could have chosen to go off on her own and make her own money if she wanted) and we have the characters still getting blamed for that even though it was the thing that set Nesta on the path of her healing. If Nesta spoke up and said, "this is what I need, can you help me?" and truly meant it (and not just a "I refuse to do that because I want to keep living in my slummy apartment and using your money to drink and gamble!") but they ignored her and said, "No!" then people would have a valid reason to be angry at the IC. But after a year, after Nesta shot down their attempts at including her, after Nesta showed no signs of getting better on her own, and them moving on to the next thing to try which got all the hate it did, I think people expect too much from the IC and not enough from Nesta herself. And yes, of course Elain hoped that Nesta had gotten better. That's usually what happens when you send somewhat of an addict to rehab and one of the doctors says "I think this has been helping!" as Cassian told her he thought it was. 😂 Would it have made more sense for Elain to arrive at the HOW and say, "This doesn't surprise me, I expected no progress from you."

How dare Elain be optimistic that she might have improved, WHAT A BITCH. 🤦

I also have a Nesta in my life and honestly, I'm thankful to see a story where everyone is finding their happiness because that's not the way my version has gone. And it is one of the constant stressors in my life because of the constant judgement, gaslighting, and jealousy coming at me.

But I am glad for any real life Nesta who made it to the other side and was able to repair their broken relationships as well as love themselves. But it does anger me when there's no responsibility placed on character Nesta while blaming the IC or the sisters for everything wrong in her life.
