I absolutely love the sprites you've been posting! They're so good! Do you have any tips for spriting? I'd like to get better at it, but it's not easy :'D
Thank you so much! and oh my god im so sorry for how long this took me to get to Truthfully infinite fusion helped a lot to get me into it myself haha. Not because of anything about the concept, but because it eased me into it with editing existing sprites. That way you don't have to do a lot at the start yourself yet, but you DO have to really look at how the shading is constructed to edit things together. Maybe hand draw a new leg or alter the expression a bit- again, not a ton of work, but it'll force you to deconstruct how the sprite was made to match the style!
That is probably THE best tip I can give to anyone. Find a (preferably somewhat simplistic- video game sprites r great here) style you like, and start off by working in that. Simple edits etc arent a big bang beginning, but theyre great for learning the basics.
Now for random tips I can have. Be mindful, these are just how I personally work ! Genuinely there are so many different styles and ways of working with pixel art as with any medium- you can break any rule and still have things come out amazing!
Dont worry as much about having distinct sketch/lineart/colors/shading phases. Technically you can work this way? But I find it makes me focus too much on how each individual phase looks when most of the time (at least for me) a sprite doesnt pull together until the very end. it WILL look slightly mad until then its simply part of the process. I tend to put a rough base with some beginning colors and then simply refine from there. wips vs finished attached below for visuals
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, careful with stuff like dithering! It can be very fun , and some styles have a ton of it which works fine and can look good! But from what I can see at least in the IF disxord a lot of ppl will slap it on anytime anywhere at the start which makes things look... messy. I personally mostly use it for fabrics. (Also, get a dithering brush. Love yourself, dont do that by hand, especially on bigger sprites)
Tumblr media
Limit your colors! This is a general tip and not tehcnically that important, but I find it really helps me.
I tend to stick to 3/4 shades per color max. Some of the darkest shades of a color can also be the lightest parts of the outline for that color! Pic below I used the browns not just for the hair, but also for the gold shading and for the darker parts of the skin. It just helps pull a pallete together easier when youre reusing it where you can.
Tumblr media
Dont be afraid of using the outlines color to shade with either for dark shades btw ! It is fun it is fresh
Tumblr media
Only real warning for outlines Ive got is to be careful of jaggies. Like the upper line reads 'smoother' then the lower one because the longer pixels all follow eachother gradually. Jaggies can be useful especially in folds and whatnot, but when something is supposed to look smooth or round- no jaggies usually show!

Sooo abt my twt new acc for sketches & hot butt stuff >>> @li0lil0
I only post hot stuff and rough sketches there only on twt… for sfw and finished art is on the main acc
I can only share this info on tumblr bcs i use both insta and twt for genshin programs. Keep in mind that THAT acc is not kid (minor) friendly. That acc gonna be full of messy sketches, art dump and mostly nsfw drawings + i no longer use poipiku so i only flag the posts that contains vulgarity images (i cant handle too much platforms plus if i use poipiku I’d probably make bunch of riddles for password coz seeing ppl thinking w dicks n got confused over simple things r so fun to me ☠️)
I can’t control and patrol everyone, everyone have free will but also responsibilities over their own youth even if the adults alr warn them and they still keep peaking my flagged stuff its on you. (I see sm tiktok of minors saying “like it gon stop us” when we adults give warning… i mean its part of our responsibility to warn youngsters and its ur responsibility to know boundaries but then again we all have free will and cant control anyone 🫤. “Then why posting it on public where everyone can see? 😹☝🏻” um so not everything revolves around you and back again i alr flagged and give warnings sooo have those informations digested… im not gonna give life lessons thank you ☠️.
Me personally i feel uncomfortable knowing minors interacting with my ‘posts’. I’d very appreciate it if minors under 18 years old not to interact / see my flagged stuff tysm!

a bonus thought post for the night!!
on that nostalgia raising feelings train but it derails so it got long so its under a readmore :*
scrolling my old art made me a bit sad and nostalgic (who doesnt get those feelings though doing the same) specifically i really have my heart going out to kid me who got basically no notes on anything. (im not saying i shouldve, art was definitely kid art and questionably tagged etc!) but some i put effort into and it made me so happy to get those 10 likes or whatever. it made me post post and post even what i was working on and unfinished bits (Sure, being me? many of those never got finished bc posting gave the hit of reward chemicals, no response meant no motivation to finish to get more yknow?)
its weird thinking ive now as an adult got a handful of posts with -hundreds- of notes. one over a thousand!! (sure, the really good and popular artists may have thousands but hey they deserve it!!) its weird that i sort of maybe now know what to do to get a reaction out of my prefered niche of the internet. that if i tried w some more consistently, who knows?
im proud of everything in my current art tag. (mostly. no. i am proud shut up brain) i feel slightly like posting more wips. bc i have a ton. surprisingly? ive been drawing way more in the past year than ive been posting (new for me). of course, there is no obligation to post it. why post stuff im not happy with? only to get anxious abt it? sure posting that one teaser when i was actively working on making it better was kinda fun. sure maybe posting some wips would make me go back and finish them bc some of them are good ideas?? but also some are just. theyd make sense to nobody but myself. and why should i share every crevice of my creativity like i used to as an attention craving kid?
my blog is my blog its me, its not a nice art blog its got all my vents and whatever i like to reblog on a given day on it all together. i could make a new tag that feels less like a portfolio to post wips i abandoned or doodles that never went further. it might be nice having them out here. but somehow i feel like id be too embarassed to post them, for my few followers to actually see them. what if i actually tagged them and ppl in tags saw my nonsense doodles? is it worth it? right now my art tag feels like its: dinluke and finished at that ONLY. things that people who come on my blog would like to see perhaps...
hahahhahahha i just crashed my Krita trying to with brash abandon look at all the unposted wips i have at once
turns out i have like. a handful of original works that never got past a rough doodle stage which is fair yknow they were just ideas that could be fleshed out but dont need to. some of them are very personal vent art
ive got a few sketch to tiny doodle to questionable attempt at painting etc bits of the star wars ladies. reminds me that i should branch out in my star wars posting and that drawing women is just way easier and more natural to me why dont i do it more?
ive got a good few fic inspired sketches that never got legs and tbf? theyre olddd now.
ive got like 12 frames of the inktober challenge from last year... in the style of posting 5 at a time, theyve all been sketched out and like half are i think finished. obviously october went long and at some point it just felt weird to post them even if i finished them. i sort of decided if i finish them up early autumn i could get away w posting them for beginning of october while i had a try at the new inktober? idk why i like a challenge to force me to draw more than i do in a year. and then it takes me a year lol. i have a set of 5 that are all inspired by fic, and like. i still like the idea of them. unfortunately? some of the references were old..  A YEAR AGO. sure theres like, the appreciation for vintage and telling ppl we like their work ages on. but i worry the authors no longer are in the fandom or want to be reminded of their work? etc etc. some of them are meh, some i like.
ngl i am especailly happy w my oct 31 post, which i really wish id finished on time for last year. heres to seeing if i post it this year? maybe i’ll finish what i want to finish of them (theres like. 2 im just really not inspired for and never was) and then have a wee collage of them to post, w the oct 31 prompt seperate, as a sort of. hey wip clear out! these are the stragglers from last year :))
maybe ill post original art one day when i get drawn enough to finish one.
ok ok hi welcome indepth to my thought process, bonus thoughts for every thought included. this doesnt need to be on the internet SURE but its a small time capsule for myself ok?
i dont think right now making a doodle tag to post wips is gonna bring me anything but anxiety and feelings of inadequacy i know too well from posting art as a teen. maybe at some point itll help break the barrier and ill just. post shit but it doesnt have to be on my ““portfolio tag”“
i could pick up an wip to finish now, ive got a good few candidates. but i think i should best just, shake off the cobwebs on smth new so i dont feel like im ruining it. it might be a rey or a leia or other star wars heroine portrait. it might be grogu bc hes an already ugly gremlin. it might be something else. i might be talking a high load of shit bc its 3 am again and i should go sleep rather than push myself in delirium. odds are tomorrow im exhausted again, feel like i should do things that actually benefit me in my life and address responsibilites, and shut down under the weight of the thought of it and not do anything until i go crazy at night again? time will tell but rn im stuck in that loop.
perhaps i should never have posted this bc its very long and personal but also? i kinda doubt anyone will read it and thats ok :)) if you are here, hi sorry that you know me better now! uhhh thoughts on the above?

the always wonderful shelley @shanheling tagged me to do this thank u so much!! i think that everyone i wanted to tag has already been tagged to do this but if you feel like doing this feel free to consider urself tagged by me!! im putting this under a readmore bc its long and i ramble a lot
the piece i was tagged to explain my process on is this oc piece! unfortunately i have a habit of deleting my original clip studio file once ive finished my art and saved it as a new png file, so i dont have the file to show the sketch and different stages of this piece. but I still can go through my general process and talk about how i did that piece!
1. planning
honestly i think about the art that i want to do a lot, and in this last year or so ive thought about the art i want to do more than ive been able to actually create and finish that art that i want to do. for my planning i tend to do a lot of different thumbnail sketches for the art im thinking of
these are some examples of thumbnails, a lot of times ill do thumbnails just on pencil and paper and with some of these theyre done quickly with my fingers on my phone note function on a day where i was feeling too bad to get up and draw on paper but still wanted to get the thumbnail ideas down. two of these are for the same songxiao piece that i still havent finished and i have more thumbnails digitally on clip studio for the same piece, i do a lot more thumbnails when a piece isnt working the way i want it to and theres times where ill completely scratch a thumbnail or a sketch and start over in order to do more thumbnails because i dont feel happy with some aspect of it.
two of these are small gouche painting thumbnails for two pieces i did maybe a month or so ago, i did the thumbnails and then tried to expand on them digitally and im wanting to do more thumbnail paintings like this in the future because it was fun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for the piece of my oc trio it was based off a series of ask prompts i got for a few different outfit prompt memes i had reblogged, so i based their outfits on the ones in the meme. when im drawing figures i tend to try and get the movement down in the poses when im sketching, i do several rough sketches of the pose before beginning to start setting down lines (if im doing lineart at all because sometimes i dont like doing lineart and do a more lineless painting kind of style). i really try to get my art to convey some kind of emotion, in the oc piece i wanted it to feel fun and like youre seeing three best friends while theyre out on the town having a fun night
2. creating
Tumblr media
this is the only real example i have of a piece in the middle of being filled in and created, this piece is one that im really not very happy with & have had lying around for a while and ill probably scrap it and try to come at it from a different perspective at some point. but anyway it still shows what i do, i lay down a kind of neutral gray color underneath my final sketch/lineart if im doing lineart in that piece and then i start picking out the colors that i want for the piece and kind of setting out a pallette for myself. i dont do this color pallette thing 100% of the time but i do it really often, especially if im working on a commission or a larger piece where i know theres going to be a lot of colors or if its a piece where im not sure exactly what color scheme i want so laying out the colors together helps me kind of decide what kind of scheme i want. i am sooooo picky about my colors in my art i am genuinely obsessed with colors in art and there are times where i really have to stop myself from working on something forever just constantly adding more colors or putting little tiny changes and gradients in the colors.
after ive got the colors i want down i tend to try and block out parts of the piece with the base color for that section, and then i start to paint with the colors that i want to go on top of that base color from there.
once im satisfied with the colors/shading/rendering and everything ill go back and look over things and will fix things that look off or sometimes completely redo segments if they dont look right to me. when i was younger and mainly doing digital art using my phone and my fingers i would use a lot of filters and overlays on top of my art once i was done, and honestly im glad to not be doing that anymore because i dont think it made my art look any better. i do color adjustments and sometimes will put on a color overlay or a layer to emphasize the shadows and the light in the piece, but i try to keep those layers to a minimum and like i said before i have a tendency to obsess over the colors and ill spend a good amount of time in the color adjustment tool of clip studio and then ill just decide "actually it looks fine as it is" so yeah!
3. posting
i feel like i dont have a lot to say here gbfm i mean i honestly have a lot of thoughts about the relationship between artists and social media and how social media changes our views on art including our own art and how we can feel like we constantly need to be posting new art and just become content machines churning out new stuff. but ill save that rant for another time. i used to be really concerned about how many notes my art would get when i was younger, and i dont at all blame anyone who still is very concerned about that bc it sucks when u work hard on something youve created and then you dont get a lot of recognition for it, but honestly within the last two years or so i feel like ive begun to have a lot healthier relationship with posting my art. i really just post my art on my art blog, reblog it to my main blog, and then thats that yknow! i do really appreciate any and all support people give me, it means the world to me, but for me having the mentality where i dont need to post all the art i make and i dont need to be posting every day or every week or every month even has been a lot healthier for me because then im not constantly asking myself why didnt this get notes is my art awful??? and yeah i just kind of post it and my brain goes okay were done with that art we gotta make more
ive honestly been struggling a lot with art thru the pandemic and if youre reading this and have been struggling with creating in any way recently or even before the pandemic, please know theres no shame in having trouble creating and it doesnt make you bad at whatever it is u create!
thank you for reading this, feel free to consider urself tagged by me again if u want to do this!! love u all

Do you have any art tips or a step by step on how you color??
Please its ok if you wont
sure, i can give a tiny bit of insight on how i colour. Under the readmore:
At this point of my personal understanding, i would say colouring is just two things: 1) making sure your colours look good together, and 2) lighting (if u decide to even do lighting/shadows, that is)
The 1st one you can achieve by doing palette studies based on photographs or other ppls art, or by doing trial and error, or apparently by learning colour theory (im too dumb to understand it) and also applying digital tricks like overlay layers and also fiddling with hue/sat/brightness/contrast until it looks good to you. Below is my latest Audrey drawing without the overlay layer (left) and then with the overlay layer (right).
Tumblr media
It’s magic, right!? I’m so used to having an overlay layer in every drawing now that these days i just slap one on before i even start colouring lmao. usually 20-50% opacity, usually a saturated orange or pink and then i’ll adjust as i go. mostly i just do trial and error like fitting wooden toy shapes into the right holes - my brain will go “ding!” when the arrow on the hue gauge hits a colour that looks good to my eyes.
The 2nd one, lighting, is more complex. I always say “lighting is everything” because to me it IS...it can control the entire mood of the picture. Where is the light? Is it hard or soft? is there a secondary light? What emotion are u trying to convey? and then how can you execute it? how would light look on THIS object compared to THAT object? A big part of lighting is being able to visualize your drawing in 3D. Once you can do that, you can lay down the light and shadows quite naturally depending on where your light source is. this ties into the way you DRAW things tho (like, u have to already be thinking about 3D while in the drawing stage) so i dont wanna get into it since this post is about colouring.
Lately I’ve been p lazy and doing all my major shadows on a single layer, set to “Shade” on sai (it might be something diff on other programs idk), 42% opacity (for this particular piece), and clipped to my folder of colour layers. So that means almost all my actual colour layers are just flat colours! Here’s my main shadow layer all by itself without any base colours (left), and then shadows + base colours (right):
Tumblr media
sometimes i’m already thinking about lighting while im still sketching the picture. sometimes i’m already thinking about lighting before i even start to draw. For this particular pic I ended up with 5 different layers for lighting: 1) all shadows (42% opacity Shade layer); 2) some extra shadow under her hat (72% opacity Shade layer), which then allowed me to create the cool hat texture by simply erasing bits of this layer 3) a soft angelic backglow coming from behind her. this layer goes somewhere above the lineart layer to give the illusion of light spilling in front of her and fading out her edges; 4) secondary blue reflective light coming from the....sky im presuming, but mostly because i just felt like the drawing needed some blue lol; 5) a 55% opacity overlay layer containing a trace amount of vignette in 3 of the corners + an extra glob of light just to the right of her cuz i was experimenting with different instagram filters near the end and found one i rly liked and tried replicating it on sai 😂 Here’s the picture with only my main shadow layer (left) vs the picture with all 5 lighting layers (right):
Tumblr media
The pic on the right makes her look more like she is Somewhere. I think I could’ve pushed the depth even more but i wasn’t confident enough. And sai doesn’t have blur tool :(
I also always have at least one layer that i name “extra”. The Extra layer goes on top of the colours/shadows/lineart layers, but under the overlay/glow layers. This is for extra details (including extra LIGHTING details) that I wanna add like extra sparkles, extra straw hat strands, hair strands, hair shine, zipper shine, etc all for that “extra” touch of realness. I don’t do all this stuff at the end, though. I have my Extra layer created pretty early on and i go back to it and add to it when I need to. Here’s what it would look like without the Extra layer (left), and with it (right).  Try to find all the extra bits i listed:
Tumblr media
One last note is i don’t colour one thing at a time. Before I start, I slap on all the base colours and all the shadows super roughly, just to check if my lighting and colour choices look good TOGETHER and make the entire composition look good. no point in spending hours rendering all the lighting and shadows on the character’s hair if in the end u decide there was actually a better lighting design u could’ve gone with. So here’s the rough colouring plan I made for myself before i started rendering for real:
Tumblr media
im not sure if this was useful at all but i hope it was interesting at least! if you want to see my actual chronological process for colouring you can watch the gif of wips i compiled here: [link]. You’ll notice that i edit my lines as i colour. I think it’s good to be adaptable, and to be ready to go back and change ur lines to benefit your lighting, colouring, and overall look of the piece.
Also here’s the finished version of the pic: [link]

My approach to flat colors + limited palette drawings
This is a follow up to this post  i made about how i go about figuring out a color palette for my limited palette drawings. an anon asked me about my actual technique of finishing them so this is gonna be an explanation of how I work in a limited palette with flat colors. I ended up with these thumbnails for a sketch last time so we’re gonna work from here and I’m gonna sort of walk through how i got to the finished version
Tumblr media Tumblr media
first things first: every part of this process is just developed as a result of me messing around. take my advice with a grain of salt and if you think you know a way to do something better/that makes you more comfortable. go with that over what I say.
I’m honestly a little surprised when people express confusion about how i draw like this because it’s SUPER simple - literally all you’re doing is just stacking solid color blocks of shape. its very imprecise despite how sharp everything ends up looking.
First things first is that you want to decide how you will be handling your edges throughout the duration. Do you want your shapes to be ultra-sharp and precise, or do you want a little bit of a wobblier, grainier edge? Both can look good but it’s VERY much a matter of situational basis. i’ve been favoring looser and grainier shapes so that’s how i’m going to be working on this.
Tumblr media
on the left here, you can see the shapes made with precise rectangular selections and an untextured pen, on the right, freehand drawn shapes and a grittier pen. There’s something immediately pretty different feeling about them. So play around with that first - its not something that’s fun to change halfway through! But lets step back a minute. It helps to work large to small. The two biggest shapes here are these orange chunks and everything gets stacked on top of them so i’m gonna do that first.
Now, a key feature of what i do: clipping masks. almost all digital art programs have them. What a clipping mask does is it constrains the pixels of a layer to the transparency of the layer below it. Here I have the light orange layer, and then on top of it the buildings and billboard are clipped to the orange. Most of you probably already know this and I’m overexplaining a bit, but there was a time when i didnt know how clipping layers worked and someone had to explain it to me.
Tumblr media
now you’ll notice the shapes of the buildings are rough, and sloppy. here’s the fun part: since this is all about stacking shapes, only your exterior edges matter. this all gets filled in. be as sloppy as you want when you’re making your shapes. in fact, the outside edges get trimmed out a bunch to when i do this - i go in and erase them clean. Don’t be too finnicky about drawing perfect and precise! its a waste of time. As long as the silhouette is what you want, the interior can be a nightmare.
Working this way, it’s important to keep your layers stacked in a way you can make sense of. Right now there are four layers here: the background dark orange, the two main orange rectangle shapes, and then the buildings on one layer and a billboard on the other. I rack up a LOT of layers doing this and it makes it annoying in some aspects, but being able to freely recolor any one chunk without losing my detail is a key aspect of this.
So, I block those out
Tumblr media
Next, I do the same for the smaller chunks that are still main shapes. There are once again, a lot of layers here. The top layer is the hair - you can see the head showing through it. The head and arm underneath the hair, same layer. Then the cup. Then the light green pieces of paper. Then the dark green ones.
The cup is technically farther forward than the head and arm so you would think it’d go on top, but the point isnt to recreate the foreground and background hierarchy with layers so much as it is to group things in a way i can work with. The cup goes underneath so it can be grouped with all the other objects on the table.
Tumblr media
now, i just go and fill in all the shapes. i forgot to do the blinds but i get them later. you might notice a lot of these shapes are pretty rough, which was harder to notice before they were filled in. Now that I can see better, I go in with an eraser and clean up the edges until they’re the shape I want
Tumblr media
sometimes erasing leaves little bits of ‘noise’ around objects like on this napkin here. i like to keep a little bit of this noise for texture, but if you dont like it make sure to get rid of it! if you’re working very crisp this will stand out a LOT
Next up is to add some detail onto the objects
Tumblr media
I flipped the canvas here because the head shape was wrong - the ears were uneven and i wanted to fix it. I want to go about adding detail onto the billboard and buildings. i do all detail with clipping masks - but the objects are clipped to another layer and so nothing can be clipped to them. instead, i unclip them and just erase by selection for the same effect
Tumblr media
all of the text on the papers is clipped to the papers below it. the buttons are clipped to the phone. the yellow photos and card are actually another independent layer on top, in case i want to recolor them separately. im indecisive and end up recoloring things a lot. For the most part these objects are starting to become recognizable as more than just shapes
Tumblr media
i go in an add the details on the background and character now. theres some more stuff on the table. the lines of the face and ears are on one layer, and the flats of the eyes below that. Here’s what each group of layers is, and what they look like on their own
Tumblr media
The background/bottom chunk. Just the table, window, and shirt.
Tumblr media
The middle bit. All the stuff on the table and the blinds.
Tumblr media
Finally, the top, which is just his head and arm.
now this stage is the bare bones of the drawing. you can more or less tell everything that’s happening. it reads. but its very much lacking in something - it doesnt have a ton of depth or interest. and adding that additional detailing, the dept and interest, is where stuff starts getting REALLY tricky and subjective.
im gonna take you to a much simpler scenario to show the sort of options i go through at this stage
Tumblr media
ahh its our dear friend, sphere casting shadow. this is, more or less, the kind of image we have. you can tell whats happening but it’s lackluster. there are TONSSS of ways frm here that you can go add interior detail to a shape once it has been established. here are some quick and SUPER rough examples
Tumblr media
from top left to bottom right: flat cel shading, softer airbrushed/gradient shading, halftone, and a textured brush. Each of these has their strengths and weaknesses. They can also be combined.
Tumblr media
for example, here’s the solid cel shading being used to contain a gradient/airbrushed detail. This image - probably the single oldest piece of my art i still willingly show people - is entirely colored with gradients being contained in cel-shaded chunks. It has a sort of soft, luminous quality but without losing its crispness.
Tumblr media
here’s a super quick bust with some variations of stuff going on. obviously this is no masterpiece but you see how different types of detailing can interact with each other and be used to distinguish materials too.
Tumblr media
With the mob psycho comic I did, the detailing that wasnt line was done using a variety of halftones of different shapes layered on top of each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media
by contrast parts of my ace attorney comic use a textured brush and have a sort of blended, papery feel
Tumblr media Tumblr media
any of them can work for pretty much anything as long as you are using it with intent. practice around. mix styles of finishing together. find a comfort zone. the more you do it the more intuitive it becomes and at the heart of it this process is a very intuitive way of drawing because of how far removed it is from realism.
Now here is the trick - light and shadow.
Everything up to this point has been very flat and adding detail helps but there’s only so much that can accomplish. To get HEAVY light and shadow you need to think about things differently. I think if there’s any part of this process that’s complicated, its this one.
To truly get the most out of your palette, you need to pick chunks of an image to be in higher/lower light and then either ‘step up’ or ‘step down’ the colors in that chunk. here’s what I mean.
Tumblr media
Here’s our ball with a beam of light on it. Everything Within the beam of light is one step in our limited palette lighter than anything outside of it. Here’s how I go about doing this: the shape of the beam of light is below everything else. Then, once I have the shape blocked out, i select it. With that selection in place, i go to EVERY SINGLE LAYER that’s effected, lock the opacity, and recolor that chunk. So what’s going on here is that there is only one more layer - the beam of light, below everything but the background, and the rest of this effect is just caused by every layer above it now being two-toned following the exact same silhouette. THIS is why it’s so important to keep your layers separate - if the shadow and highlight had been painted onto the base directly, i would not be able to do this without significant effort.
This works with all of the finishing techniques I talked about above
Tumblr media
A combination of cel shading and half toning, all stepped up to give the appearance of heavier light on one area. This is also how I go about rendering transparency in this style. All of my layers are fully opaque and I allow the colors to do the work of conveying transparent material
Tumblr media
Here’s our ball with the patterned/textured brush  shading, being viewed partially through a window
it’s obviously not a very representational way of working, but as long as your audience UNDERSTANDS what you’re trying to convey, then you’re executing it successfully.
So with that, now we’re gonna go and finish this drawing.
For this one, I decide a big central shadow is necessary. In the original thumbnail, he was backlit, which I still plan on doing, and that wouldn’t make sense without casting a shadow.
Tumblr media
I’ve had to change the colors of some objects entirely in order to get this to work right. This is what I mean when I call this an intuitive process - some stuff felt weird, so I changed it. This also involves a bit of problem solving. The newspaper is now unable to be separated from his hand. Sometimes changing the color of an object makes that object look better, but ruins its relationship with the objects around it. It’s up to you to learn how to adjust and finagle things until you get it where you want. The paper he has and the napkin underneath it also all blend together now.
The next few parts of this process are REALLY just trial and error, where I toss a bunch of spaghetti at it until it works. It’s hard to decide what to screenshot, because I don’t know what will or will not be part of the finished drawing. To that end, you can watch the recording of this drawing here. This video isn’t edited at all so it contains a couple of minutes of really shitty sketching, and then all of the color thumbnailing work i did in the last post. Actually getting started on these final colors begins around the two minute mark. It is also sideways, I am sorry I don’t know why.
Tumblr media
Now, here you can see where I’ve more or less worked things out. His hand’s not on the cup anymore because my friend pointed out it didnt have an arm attached to it. I added some halftoning to make a gradiating effect in the sky and on the table to give the impression of a sunrise. His eyes are different but as of posting this, I don’t like them and am probably about to go back and change them again. The Cup now has a shadow and some rim lighting. His hand is in shadow. The stain on the napkin is big enough to define the edge of the paper on top of it.
Little things like that.
The more you draw like this the more the way you need to think about your space becomes natural. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best of luck!

Season 2 q&a and overall reaction
Jonny stealing everyone's names XD
Is martin going to be ok!? I also need to know!
He said no;-;
ok ya, no one's gonna be ok.
Ya, he must do sooo much research.
Ya, except for "fatigue" lol.
Eyyy the mechanisms!!
What's the red string brigade? Ok, I guess a group of fans theorizing about stuff.
Oh ok so someone else did martins poetry. Ooh, there's more martin poetry out there! *grabby hands*
Ok ya, Alex clarifying that Jon isn't stupid he just makes poor decisions. Probably if he'd paused and thought about it (like I did lol, I had to go do some stuff in the middle of that ep and thought about it a whole bunch lol) instead of immediately going out and buying an axe and further isolating himself and panicking immediately he probably would have figured it out. This is why it's bad to panic in a crisis guys.
Eyyy! Jonny's parents voiced Gertrude and Leitner! That's so cool.
XD Jonny grumbling about having to work with his parents.
Hmm, I hadn't really thought of Gertrude being like a mother figure in the story? She just seems very cut-throat I guess from what Leitner said. Idk so far I've been very suspicious of her. Especially since that one statement where her photo burned a whole bunch of people or something. She just seems very shady...
Alex chortling over Jonny's pain. XD
Side note, Every time there's a q&a I just can't stop noticing Jonny's voice going in and out of archivist range? Like most of the time I'm just listening along and then he'll say a sentence a bit grumblier and my brains immediately like "ARCHIVIST! That's THE ARCHIVIST!!"
Martin would be the last one alive in Friday the 13th! It's official!
(Is it bad that this gives me hope)
Jon likes Nonfiction, documentaries, and probably collects something just a little bit weird. *writes down for use in potential fics*
also while im at it I remember jon saying he dislikes coffee at one point,  and so many people have him liking coffee in their fics! This has been your daily reminder of that fact because ever since then it keeps bugging me lol. (But also do whatever u want.)
Alex's spluttering sounds so much like Martin.
Yes!! I want to hear jon sing!! Yes! Musical Episode When!!?
Ah yes yes yes! All the characters are so unique!!? How does he do it!!
Ya, it being in audio format sometimes makes it hard to understand what's happening in the live-action bits. (Live-action is the wrong word but u know what I mean.)
Oh ok ya, how he mentioned he got a pipe was quite clever I didn't realize that that's why he mentioned it at all.
Ooh, there's a manga where there's something similar to Michael? I'll have to look that up later...
XD Alex and Jonny arguing about apples.
Ok, so all the statements we're hearing ARE for reals. I kinda assumed but good to have it confirmed.
They used to hang out together!!? Work function curry nights!! ;-;
Ya Ya! Who made the leitners!?
"You are assuming a book needs to be written" ...ok then. (but it has to have been created somehow??? Did they just spring fully formed from the powers? why? And why take the form of books?)
Alex's mischievous laugh about whether jon has friends *trembles in fear*
Yes!! Micheal is so good! I'm so happy they love him too! Yesyes! His laugh!
Ah Yes!! Mary kaey was so creepy!
XD yes yes yes fatigue was written on zero sleep, I knew it!
Akskdjdkd I love them so much. Also, I've looked up Michaels voice actor luke booys and he does some other horrory type sketches n stuff and I kiiinda want to do a little animatic with some of those but it's Michael like annoying some poor soul lost in his halls... I think that'd be fun. I wonder if anyone's done that yet? If so someone send me the links I neeeed iiitt :3
Season 2 summary:
Uuuuu ya so this season was really good. I kinda listened to it in bursts of about ten episodes every couple weeks and then have been saving up the reactions to post later so these are usually going up about a week or so after I actually listened to the episode just FYI.
I also do have a lot of spoilers cause I can't keep myself away from fanfic and people don't always tag for spoilers and I kiiinda wana know what's coming beforehand anyway? Idk it's hard man I get very stressed about what might happen and then also listening to too much at a time is too spooky for my poor little heart so I gotta read the less spooky fanfic to fulfill the hyperfixation you see. (If anyone has fanfic with spoilers only up to season 2 that'd be great btw)
Anyway, I try not to take spoiler type stuff into account unless I'm just so sure of it I can't really not acknowledge that I know about it.
Also, can I just talk about Michael for a minute?? Cause he's such a unique character? And I guess maybe there are other characters like him but I haven't ever seen one -tho to be fair tma is only like the third horror thing I've ever really got into (the other two are the SCP Foundation in its various forms and Little Nightmares. Hence why I keep making reference to SCP it's really the only thing I know similar to this.) But he's such a cool concept!!? Like someTHING that still has a personality? He's so not human? Like I get what he says but also I don't really? Idk im pretty sure he's an avatar right? Right?? Idk if that means he was a person at some point? But all this to say that he is probably the most inhuman character I've come across so far and I'm trying to figure out what it is about him that's so "other" to me? Like... I don't really know what Micheal's deal is? he seems to want to be sort of a neutral mischief-maker but also it seems like he keeps getting invested. But also I just love the way he talks about himself. Like he's a monster that has a personality and is fully intelligent but isn't just evil but isn't neutral either and certainly isn't benevolent. Like he's so complex and just,,,, the idea of a "thing" that's got a personality?? I love it? Kind of like dryads or spirits of things? Like the idea that after a long time things gain personality just by existing? Not that that's what Michael is necessarily? but that same sort of concept applies to him I think. Like the way he IS the maze and wants to help but wants to just watch but wants to kill them all. He's just so interestinggggggg. (And another vision of what jon could become?)
also "es Mentiras" is a beautiful name 💕
So are him and not-Sasha avatars? Not-Sasha also seems completely inhuman and I was under the impression that avatars were (or used to be) human? Or are they like personifications of their power? Do all the powers have personifications of themselves. not-Sasha seems even less human than Michael? Like she seems to just really genuinely enjoy causing fear? Tho I guess we didn't really get to hear a lot of her. She just seemed kinda gleefully angry most of the time we heard from her. Was she... Human once!???
Anyway. Also, can I just talk about leitners line about jon belonging to the eye!!? Just..*chefs kiss* hnnnngg I need more jon grappling with that. I just need more everyone dealing with the fallout post all of the finallies ok? I still need more of jon angsting over his worms scars and stuff and now I also need jon freaking out about belonging to a fear god power thing.
Also Martin! Is Martin ok? He sure did a lot of yelling which he doesn't usually? Look I love him and he actually thinks before he acts (unlike SOME people *looks at jon*) and he writes poetry and it is pretty good poetry ok!! And he cares about everyone and just wants a happy ending and aaaaa😭
Petition to get some statements from Martin's pov tho? I mean that's not gonna happen cause Jon's the archivist but I want more martin pov!! Maybe we can get some of his poem tapes??? Pls?????
I feel so bad for Tim. It sounds like he's kinda fallen into despair.
Also Elias!!? Is showing his spooky side!!? He can control cameras and beat a man to death with a pipe!!? This is his "place of powerr"!!? I am afeared!!? At least jon knows he shouldn't trust him now. Oh jeez, I wonder if jon will listen back to the tape and know what happened. Thhhatsss rough. Oh dear, I hope he doesn't feel guilty cause Leitner did keep trying to hurry him and now everyone thinks it was him. Even martin thinks he did it? Wich like I kinda want to hear more of his thoughts on that? How much does he believe that jon did it? Tim certainly seems pretty certain but he's a bit biased and cynical right now so.
And they were in the maze for DAYS?
Now I need martin recovering from being stuck with Tim in Michaels maze for days being angry and worried and hungry etc... Dksjdksa knowing jon could be dying RIGHT NOW and there's nothing he can do. Please someone give me the fic links if this exists!! I've already written like 5 drabbles based entirely on spoilers/other fics (which I'll probably post (w/ links to their inspirations) once I'm caught up and can make sure I'm not just completely demolishing cannon lol.
Leitner didn't even scream or yell or anything when he was murdered. Literally the chillest dude ever. F
Overall super great, Elias is terrifying, let's dive into the next season!!! I've got 2 seasons to finish in like, less than 2 or so weeks(?) if I wana be caught up by season 5 hhhh,,,
Better get started I guess.

ATAK
Tumblr media
In this post, ATAK talks about his fascinating creation process and he shares illustrations and development work from some of his wonderful books – including sketchbook pages for his forthcoming picturebook ‘Piraten im Garten’, which is due to be published in 2020.
Visit ATAK’s website
ATAK: My process is like hip-hop. Mixing and sampling.
I have a big box where I put material that I’ve found on the street or in magazines. Then in the summer, when I’m sitting in the summer house, I stick everything into sketchbooks.
These are important books for me. I often use them when I’m looking for an idea. I like to make connections between this and that.
Sometimes I steal things. Here’s an example of where I used a painting by Caspar David Friedrich in one of my images. This is a very important painting for the German culture; it’s romantic. It’s the first painting that’s like a window. You see with him and you’re led into the picture.
‘Wanderer above the Sea of Fog’, Caspar David Friedrich, 1818.
When I take something to use in my own work, it’s more about the idea of composition and atmosphere. It’s not just a reference that people will know.
This is the sketchbook for my picturebook ‘Topsy Turvy World’. The publisher asked me for a book for children, and as I was tired of working with long texts, I thought this one should be a wordless book, where the images tell the whole story.
We have a German tradition from the 18th century of ‘bilderbogen’. This is like the origin of comics. They’re one-page stories. I was looking at some of these and I found some interesting ideas for ‘Topsy Turvy World’.
Here are some pages from the sketchbook.
Not everything made it into the final book; some of it was too heavy for my publisher, so he kicked it out. The smoking people had to go, otherwise we couldn’t have sold the rights in America.
Then there was a problem... My sketches had a lot of life and were fully-worked, so to transform them into the final artwork was very hard. After the rough version, I had this feeling that I was already finished with the book. Making the final ‘clean’ artwork felt like a kind of discipline.
My original paintings are always much bigger than they appear in the books. I never work to the correct size or format.
I often sell my paintings, but here is one I’ll never sell. It was done for the first children’s book I made, called ‘Comment la mort est revenue à la vie’ (How death came back to life), written by Muriel Bloch and published by Thierry Magnier.
It’s an important painting for me. I came from the comic world – black and white graphics – where I would draw out the whole scenes with all the details. In the middle of working on this painting, I had to go out to buy some food, and then I came back and thought, “Oh, it’s enough.” There’s a big difference when you work with colour. It’s like a sound, like a kind of music. This painting was very important for me in understanding colour.
Before I start working on an image, I often have a rough idea of what’s going to happen in the scene, but I leave a lot of space for other things to come in... And when I’ve started to work, I might see something in my studio or in a book, and it goes into the image.
I like this open process. And I like to be surprised. It’s very important for me that I don’t know in the beginning exactly what’s going to happen.
My way of painting is very old school. Traditional. Sometimes I paint over the top of something and you can see the trace of it behind. You can’t really fake things like this on the computer. For me, my original artwork is more important than the finished book. I once had an interesting discussion about this with Blexbolex. It’s completely the opposite for him: he sees his books as being the original artwork.
After ‘Topsy Turvy World’, I made a book called ‘The Garden’.
The original German edition was almost like a book for bourgeoise women... But for the French edition, they reimagined it for kids. It’s much bigger; you can really go inside. And the French publisher asked me to make some flaps to open up on the pages, which were not there in the original edition.
The sketches for ‘The Garden’ are almost nothing. It was very important that I didn’t repeat the process of ‘Topsy Turvy World’, where the sketches were very close to the finished artwork. I couldn’t work like this again. So the sketches here are very loose, but I knew exactly what was supposed to be in the pictures.
Working like this, you must have a very strong relationship with the publisher – one of absolute trust. I also have big problems with deadlines; I’m always late. With this book, my publisher Antje Kunstmann was so good. She phoned me every morning: “Hallo, here is Antje!” It was so important to know she was there, almost like a mother. It was a similar story with Wolf Erlbruch and his book ‘Duck, Death and the Tulip’. He was working for four years on this book. In the end, Antje came to his home and was waiting on his sofa for two days to take the last drawing!
The latest children’s book I made is called ‘Martha’.
I started working on it after reading an article in National Geographic about the passenger pigeon. I was fascinated. Because it’s a real story, it was not easy for me to make this book. It’s easier when I’m given a text because I have more distance.
Again, I worked very loosely in my sketchbook. These sketches are just indications – so I know something is here or somebody is there. It does help me that things are more open.
I don’t have sketchbooks where I draw from reality. I’m not good at this. You’ll never find me sitting in a crowd, making sketches. I watch and I observe instead. And I have books where I write ideas or note down interesting forms and shapes that I see.
Here are some pictures from ‘Martha’.
And here’s an idea for the dust jacket, where the kids could cut and draw on the paper, and make origami out of it to give a kind of rebirth. Martha is gone, but maybe she’s not gone if the kids could bring her back. The publisher didn’t go for this idea.
I went to art school but never finished. Just after the Berlin Wall came down, I was studying visual communication. There wasn’t a good atmosphere at my art school. I wanted to find like-minded people and work as a team, but it felt like most of the students were only interested in being artists, but not in working together. Then my daughter was born, and I never finished art school.
I’m now teaching art as a professor. The other teachers have diplomas, and I feel like I’ve come from the working class. I do like intellectual work, but when I work with students, I want to see something. I can only talk about what I see. I need it very visual. It has to catch me.
From when I was nine years old, I wanted to be an illustrator. In east Germany, illustration was a part of publishing. All the novels had illustration. It’s still unique now to see this, but in east Germany it was normal... So my plan was always to be an illustrator. This way I could wake up when I wanted, have no boss, listen to my music all day, and make my own work.
Speaking of music... The type of music I listen to when I work depends on the specifics of the book. For example, I made a book for Nobrow called ‘Ada’ (from a word portrait by Gertrude Stein). The idea for the artwork was to make handmade pixels, so I listened to a lot of electronic music; ping–ping–ping! It’s about energies. And for me, the music is also very important because I travel a lot and it can be hard to come back to your work – but when I listen to the music, immediately I’m back in the project, in the zone. It’s all connected – the music with the book.
Here’s my playlist for ‘Martha’.
Distortions – Clinic Go – Sparklehorse & The Flaming Lips VCR – The XX Song For A Warrior – Swans Avril 14th – Aphex Twin Quiet Music – Nico Muhly First Song For B – Devendra Banhart Last Song For B – Devendra Banhart How Can You Mend A Broken Heart? – Al Green Ash Black Veil – Apparat I Know They Say – Spectrum Opus 55 – Dustin O’Halloran Lost Fur – Karen O & The Kids Unfinished Business – The Go-Betweens Sometimes – My Bloody Valentine Lies – Sin Fang Bous Debussy: Suite Bergamasque, L 75 - Clair De Lune – Alexis Weissenberg Nimrod (Adagio) – David Hirschfelder Atmosphere – Joy Division Still Life – Elliot Goldenthal The Lake – Antony & The Jonhsons Flying Birds – RZA
I used to make hardcore comics with friends. This was our first, which we made before the wall came down. My work has changed completely. I can’t understand this now; it’s like another man made it! And they are not funny. It’s a very small humour; you really have to look for it.
Then, after my daughter was born, I did my own comic series called ‘Wondertüte’. In the comic scene, everybody told me that this wasn’t a comic. But for me, it was totally a comic. I liked the comic medium, but I didn’t see why there had to be only one way. From all my old comics, this is the one I like the most.
The idea comes from the ‘learn English’ books we had in school. It’s a bit like a poem, but with a more open structure. I think my older work was very closed, and this comic is where it really started to open up. I made it for me, not for the mainstream. I got no money for it. But you could find it in kiosks. Somebody told me he saw it in a kiosk in a very small village. He said it was very important to see this comic displayed in-between all the nice, fancy stuff... My audience is not many people, but they are passionate.
I don’t really consider myself as a children’s book illustrator; it’s not like this. But it gives me a lot more freedom. Some of my friends find themselves working on one comic for years! I respect this, but for me that’s like a jail. With comics, you have to take such care with narration. You go from one panel to the next panel to the next... The comic medium is a question of time. In a children’s book, the reader looks at one page for perhaps two minutes or ten minutes. They go deep inside. It’s a completely different work. Also in a children’s book you have a stage; it’s really like theatre.
I also think it’s very important in children’s books that you read the book again and again. You read a comic maybe once and then you kick it out or you give it to somebody. But a children’s book is like a ritual between parents and kids.
This is a cover version of the German classic book ‘Der Struwwelpeter’.
The stories here are new and full of humour. I made this book with Fil (Philip Tägert). It was after ‘Topsy Turvy World’, and for me it was so important that I could be free with the pictures. The publisher said make what you want. And it felt so good.
There are hundreds of different versions of ‘Der Struwwelpeter’. As with the ‘bilderbogen’, this was like the beginning of comic stories.
I once found an old version of the book from Denmark with an extra chapter. They didn’t trust all that dark stuff and they made up new stories. So in our cover version, we had this idea to make one chapter where literally nothing happens! We tried to make it as boring as possible, with the pictures saying exactly the same thing as the words. It was so hard to make a boring illustration! It’s really not easy!
My new book will be published next year. It’s for my little son; he’s three years old. You could see it as a connection between ‘Topsy Turvy World’ and ‘The Garden’. It’s called ‘Pirates in the Garden’. The German title is ‘Piraten im Garten’, so the title is like a poem; you hear it and you don’t forget it. I like this title very much.
This book will will be very simple, a bit like Sesame Street. One word on each page, so you make associations between the word and the image, and the parents can talk about it with their kids.
I’m working in the sketchbook at the moment, and I want to make the sketches really good. For ‘The Garden’ and ‘Martha’, I kept the sketches really open. But for this one, no. I know this is going to be my last book for children. And it’s for my son, so I’m going to make it special. In the future, perhaps I’ll make art books in small editions, more paintings, stuff like this, but not books in a commercial way again.
When I made ‘Martha’, I was thinking, “who needs this?” It wasn’t mainstream and I was so confused. It’s different from when someone asks me to make a cover or a painting; I’m never thinking about who needs this. But this was different. Sometimes you just don’t know if what you’re doing is important or not. So I was kind of depressed working on that book. This is the main reason it took me such a long time.
I sometimes feel very alone working as a children’s book illustrator in Germany. My style is not at all mainstream and I always just made my books for fun. It was never a big passion of mine to make children’s books for my whole life. But I always liked the roots.
So for my final children’s book, ‘Piraten im Garten’, I will make it for myself and for my son.

A fantastical picturebook where mice chase cats, penguins live in the jungle, and cars fly! There’s few things that children enjoy more than catching grown-ups telling fibs. Discarding what’s obviously wrong is how they find out what’s right.
It’s a time-honoured children’s game; ATAK’s just given it a new twist, using lots of classic tall stories, and adding a few new ones as well.

Like a rock band covering their favourite songs, ATAK and FIL tackle the classic stories of Zappelphilipp, Hans-guck-in-die-Luft & Co.
And just as a Heavy Metal cover might sound harder than the original, you’ll also find tighter morals, harsher imagery, politically incorrect humour, and that ever-so-subtle touch of evil that has been pervading this book for more than 160 years.

Martha tells the tale of the extinction of North America’s native Passenger Pigeon – its shockingly rapid decline caused directly by humans – and is told from the perspective of ‘Martha’, the last of the species who died at the Cincinnati Zoo in 1914. The story begins with a feeling of greatness and awe, describing flocks of birds that were once so numerous that they would darken the skies for days, their beating wings as loud as motors.

What are your OC's
I LOVE MY OCS SO MUCH ASDFGFDS IM VIBRATING but if i actually got into their characters and backstories and the overarching plot this’d be a 15k post and no one deserves to have to scroll past that so ill keep it shortish:
im not finished sketching their designs yet so i used a character maker to give u a rough idea
Reina Nagasaki: Empress of the Nagasaki dynasty. Can speak 5 languages and yet still cant tell Hoshiko she’s in love w/ her. An absolutely useless pining lesbian. Despite appearances shes pretty emotionally driven, which is why Hoshiko is literally the only thing keeps her from unintentionally fucking up all political connections.
Tumblr media
Hoshiko Masae: Royal advisor and childhood companion of Reina. Literally never asked for any of this. Likes being bi, doing stuff for the hell of it and not being the cause of a huge war with hefty civilian casualties :)))) Has so much love in her heart for life and everyone in it and no one can take that away from her!!! Reads a ton of philosophy books and is a master swordswoman
Tumblr media
Haruna Saito: Empress of the Saito dynasty. w|w, if ur girl didn’t start a war over you then she needs to lift her game. Also she’s 6ft bc im gay and i make the rules. Often has good intentions, but due to her naturally selfish nature thanks to her upbringing, fails to deliver.
Tumblr media
Saki Nakahara (Saito): Commander of Armies (Saito dynasty). Secretly Haruna’s little sister but we ain’t got the time to talk ab that. Devotes herself to her sister’s command completely, which leads to some crippling trauma since Haruna is sort of unintentionally selfish like 78% of the time.
Tumblr media
Chouko Asano: 5ft of pure killing power. no fr she’s the world’s deadliest assassin and also very short. can be summed up using :3. She’s so bad at flirting but she grew up in the woods so cut her some slack. Freelance assassin and part of the 0.5% of the population that is magic compatible.
Tumblr media
Kaori Matsui: Ambassador and chief diplomat for the Nagasaki Dynasty. Case of resting bitch face but she’s literally so patient and motherly??? wishes guys would stop hitting on her Please shes a lesbian and she doesnt like it!!! sort of hates being flirted with in general tbh shes either too flustered to properly respond and accidentally brushes them off or it makes her uncomfortable!! hasnt slept in a week bc all these bitches cant clean their own damn messes.
Tumblr media
Michiko Sakaguchi: Princess of the Sakaguchi kingdoms. Initially shy and somewhat reserved, she’s actually rather shrewd with a surprisingly sharp tongue. First in line to rule the largest of the various territories that make up the rest of the supercontinent not under the control of the Nagasaki or Saito dynasties. Hates it when people don’t take her seriously.
Tumblr media
Kichiro Asano: Chouko’s twin brother. if Chouko is :3c then Kichiro is >;3. equally bad at flirting as his sister, but instead of staring unblinkingly for 1.3 hours at his crush he’s just,,, constantly using bad pick up lines. Smug little bastard, owns two kittens. Is also an assassin, but way less infamous than Chouko, mostly does small time murders.
Tumblr media
_______________________________________________________________________
Bonus:
Haruna: I have never wanted for anything. Anything i could have possibly desired has always been within my reach, at the snap of my fingers. As is such, this world bores me, for there is nothing for me to strive for, to obtain.
Hoshiko: hey
Haruna: i will literally die without u

Author’s Note: Oh look, I’m not dead!!! But seriously, I’ve been absent for what I feel like has been way too long. I’ve been here, but not posting new stuff which sucks. BUT, anyway, the first chapter of a new series, a series I am hell-bent on finishing. I hope you enjoy this, and thanks for reading!

Jaebum’s photos by Match Point
Prologue
6 Months to Wedding
Jaebum and his fiancé, Sooyoung, sat in the waiting room of one of the wedding planning companies they were visiting that day, Sooyoung clutching tightly onto his hands. Fairy tale weddings were really not his thing, but it meant the world to her, and so here he was.
Three weeks ago, Jaebum had asked his long-time girlfriend to marry him. He wasn’t exactly sure if he believed in the institution of marriage, but according to society, he was at the right age to get married. After all he was twenty-six now, had a successful career in music, he had been dating Sooyoung for four years. His parents highly approved of her, as did his friends and colleagues. So natural progression was to ask her to marry him.
He wasn’t known to be a romantic man, so after weeks of his mother persuading him and telling him that this is how life went, he had popped the question in their living room, with simple words, and she had said yes before Jaebum really had the chance to think about what he was doing.
When he had put the ring on her finger, she had cried and hugged him, and Jaebum wished he felt more in that moment than he did. It was so mundane to him, like just another day. He wasn’t bursting at the seams with happiness, as naive an idea as that might have seemed for the day he asked a woman to marry him. Even with all his practicality, he wasn’t beyond his fantasies of feeling overwhelming love for someone.
“Hello, I’m Clove, I’m so sorry to keep you waiting”
Jaebum looked up at a girl walking into the room, her short hair styled in loose curls, wearing a satin white shirt tucked into some dress pants. She looked short, even with the heels she had on. He recognised the name, it was the same one he had been given when he’d made an appointment to come see them.
“Oh don’t worry about it” Sooyoung spoke before Jaebum had the chance to. “Nice to meet you, I’m Sooyoung”
Sooyoung got up to shake her hand, and then pointed down to Jaebum. “And this is my fiancé, Jaebum. He’s the one who called your office”
Clove smiled as Jaebum got off the sofa to shake her hand.
“You look like a lovely couple” she complimented, and Jaebum had to stop himself from actually rolling his eyes.
How typical, he thought. She was trying to flatter them, and by the looks of it, Sooyoung was buying it.
Clove led them to what looked like a meeting room, asking them to take a seat and what they would like to drink. These meetings were long and tedious, and there were four more to go before they could select one. Just the thought made Jaebum tired. So Jaebum decided having a coffee wouldn’t be an awful choice while Sooyoung stuck to water, her wedding diet was already in action.
“So, I was told the wedding is in six months?” Clove asked them, looking over what appeared to be notes scribbled down in her notepad.
“Yes” Sooyoung and Jaebum chimed in together, and Clove smiled at how adorable the couple was, or well, at least at the adoring look on Sooyoung’s face as she looked over to her fiancé.
There was something off about Im Jaebum, and Clove couldn’t quite figure it out. But if she got the job, she was sure she would find out sooner than later. Not many men who accompanied their fiancés were as excited as their partners but not many of them looked as disinterested and aloof as Jaebum looked either.
Clove stopped herself from thinking about his demeanour before it distracted her even more, and looked down at her notepad, pretending to look at her notes again when in reality she was recollecting her thoughts. She really needed to get a grip on her problem of being too involved with what didn’t concern her.
“Well, people start planning even earlier, but then again, there are so many people come to us with four weeks till the wedding expecting us to give them fairy tale weddings…” pausing to smile up at them. “Look, I’ll be honest. Six months can sometimes still be a less time depending on what kind of a wedding you want, so let’s start there. Give me a basic idea of how you want your wedding to be and I’ll quip in with how we can make it happen”
Jaebum felt unnerved by this woman in front of him, and he didn’t understand why. She hadn’t even said anything to him…maybe that was a part of why he felt like this. She had barely addressed him while she had spoken, its like she could see right through Jaebum’s facade of actually caring about how grand and put together his wedding was. She focused on making his fiancé happy, the one who truly cared about this wedding.
“Well, I have a couple of pictures from my parents’ wedding and I would love to have a wedding similar to theirs” Sooyoung said, pulling up the photos to show Clove.
Sooyoung’s parents’ wedding had been a simple, yet gorgeous event. The pictures, even with old cameras that couldn’t really capture the beauty of it, had turned out stunning. Ever since Sooyoung had been 6 years old, she wanted her own wedding to be similar to her parents’ wedding. Jaebum had heard about it non-stop ever since he had popped the question.
Sooyoung pulled up the photos she had of her parents’ wedding on her phone, passing it along to Clove who scribbled down some notes as she saw the pictures.
“Your mother’s dress is so stunning” Clove noticed, much to the delight of Sooyoung. “You should take inspiration from it when you start the shopping”
“You think so too? I was talking to Jaebum about it just the other day”
Clove smiled at Sooyoung, warm and kind, and it made Jaebum wonder if he was the only person who didn’t understand the concept of getting married. Of course a wedding planner would be excited about such things, it meant more business for them, but Clove’s smile was so warm it felt like she was truly excited for the couple. It made things entirely difficult for Jaebum, who wanted nothing but to categorise her into a box somehow.
Half an hour later, after being pretty ceremoniously ignored by Clove, their meeting was done.
“Well, I’ll get my team to send you some rough sketches of the ideas I have, and if you like them, we’ll get to work on them immediately” Clove said, extending a hand to Sooyoung to shake.
“I don’t think I need to see the rough sketches. I’ll be honest with you, you’re the first planner who I’ve met today who isn’t boring beyond words. I like you, and I like your enthusiasm for making this a fairytale for the bride. So how about you sit down with Jaebum and discuss the contracts sometime later this week?” Sooyoung suggested.
Jaebum didn’t know what came over his fiancé. She was usually a lot more calm and collected than making hasty decisions like this. Sooyoung’s sudden decision had left Jaebum unprepared to do anything but nod along to her words.
Clove smiled at them, and Jaebum saw a flicker of uncertainty pass through her eyes before she caged herself once again; warm, smiling and presentable.
“Are you sure about that?” she asked Sooyoung. “I mean, its a great ego boost for me, but I’ll give the two of a little time before we make any hasty decisions”
With that, Clove left the two lovers alone in the meeting room.
“What’s gotten into you, Sooyoung? We have plans to meet 4 more wedding planners, one more famous than the other, and you already want to settle?” Jaebum enquired.
“I’m telling you, babe. She’s the one. Just trust me on this, okay?”
And it was decided; Clove was to be their wedding planner. Jaebum didn’t put up much of a fight after Sooyoung’s words. To the world it would seem he was a doting boyfriend, but in reality, he was glad he didn't have to sit through any more of these meetings. Clove set up a date for the next Monday for them to meet and discuss the contracts as well as get a rough idea as to what Clove’s proposition for the wedding looked like.
Jaebum wasn't entirely looking forward to the second part of their meeting, he would rather let Sooyoung handle those while he handled the contracts but she wouldn’t be in town for the next two weeks, and the planning couldn't just be put on a hold for that long; which gave Jaebum no choice but to endure it.
Clove set their meeting up in a cozy coffee shop, tucked away in a quieter corner of the city where Jaebum wouldn’t be recognised and they could work without disruption of any kind.
Jaebum reached the address she had texted him, right on time, and asked the barista for her, like she had told him to do. The barista showed him to a corner of the cozy shop where Clove was already set up with her folders, busy typing away at her laptop as he approached her.
She was surprised when he cleared his throat to drive her attention away from her laptop.
“You’re on time” she said, re-checking the time on her phone.
“I like to be punctual”
Clove hummed, a thoughtful sound laced with surprise. It left Jaebum curious, wanting to know more about why her tone was the way it was.
“What? I can’t be punctual?” he asked, despite his brain telling him this wasn’t the time or place for this, neither was this any of his business. She could think whatever she wanted of him, it never should’ve bothered him.
“Ah, its not that. In my experience, not many people are. Its…refreshing, really, for a famous person to be on time and respect that my time also has value”
Clove’s reply startled him. He didn’t expect her to be so blunt with her client, most people would kiss his ass while planning a wedding for him but he could already tell she wasn’t going to be one of them.
“Really don’t like to sugarcoat things, do you?” he laughed quietly as he sat down across from her.
Clove shrugged. “I didn't think you would want to hear sugarcoated things”
“And how would you know that?”
She paused, taking a long at him before looking back at her laptop. “I do my research on the people I’m going to be working for. It always helps to know what they like…and more specifically what they don’t”
Jaebum didn't respond, settling to nod at her before ordering himself coffee.
The first half an hour of their conversation was purely about the contract, the money they were willing to spend on the wedding, the payment to the company, the commission Clove would get and what all duties she would have.
“Ah, contracts are so boring, let’s move on”
Clove gathered all the papers, filing them neatly into a folder and then dug through her bag, yanking out a much thicker folder. Jaebum groaned inwardly, knowing exactly what it was. The folder already had materials peaking out of the sides and if he squinted enough he could make out the vague photos amongst the papers. He knew what this folder was because Sooyoung had a very similar planner.
This was the wedding folder.
As she opened the folder, Jaebum could see the print outs of Sooyoung’s parents’ wedding. She had put up in the front, as if to remember the inspiration. The rest of the folder was extremely organised. Jaebum could now clearly see the tabs that ran along the side, neatly marked as location, bride, groom, catering, florist and so on. She flipped onto the location page, turning the folder and pushing it to the middle of the table.
“So Sooyoung gave me a vague idea of the places she had short-listed to host the wedding in, and based on that, I drew these up. Look through, tell me if there is something that strikes out to you, something you particularly like or dislike”
Jaebum looked down, studying the first one.
“I didn’t know wedding planners were into sketching out their venue decorations” Jaebum said out of curiosity. He wasn’t exactly expecting this.
“It helps me out, and I noticed early on that it helps the brides and grooms out too, so why not?”
Jaebum flipped a page. There was no doubt she was really good at what she did. The more he studied her sketches, and the more sketches he looked at, he saw how detail oriented she was. What stuck out to him was the sketch of a canopy of flowers, Jaebum guessed it was for the alter, it extremely delicate and simple, yet fitting with every sketch she had made. It was all so brilliantly put together.
“These are really good. How do you manage to make this shit actually seem interesting?” Jaebum said, awestruck, despite his usual numbness towards cliched wedding things like the ones sketched out in front of him.
Clove laughed, and Jaebum’s heart sped up. It was like music to his ears, and he wasn’t sure why he was suddenly itching to compose. He hadn’t been struck with inspiration like that in a long time.
“Thank you, I guess? Anything in particular you would like to keep?”
And just like that, Jaebum’s excitement was gone. This was his wedding they were planning. He just wanted to get it over with, let Sooyoung take care of this planning business. Jaebum wasn’t sure if his sudden disinterest was evident on his face, but he tried to mask it anyway by flipping through the sketches again.
He frowned at them, scrutinising, finding things that seemed unnecessary to him. Why was there a need for any of the fancy flowers and equally fancy drapes? Suddenly the sketches didn’t give him the feeling of awe any longer.
“Um, I like the canopy” Jaebum spoke, still looking down, avoiding her questioning gaze. He felt a weird anxiety at the thought of the wedding, even more so at the thought of spending his life with a person, of having to share his space, his entire life with someone else.
Clove stayed quiet, studying him. His colourful aura was gone, replaced with something much more grey and dull. When he had come in today, he felt different. She questioned her initial judgement of him, wondering if it was just an off day for him the first time they’d met. But it was back; the disinterest, the void in his aura.
“You could at least pretend to be interested” Clove said, quietly smiling. “Don’t worry about these, I’ll take up the decor with Sooyoung when she comes back”
“No- its not that, I just…-”
“Don’t worry about it. I don’t care, I’m no one to judge you” Clove shrugged. In reality, she cared; about people and their stories and their reasons for being who they were. She cared too much, and she cared about the wrong set of people. It was a habit she probably should work on getting out of. But Jaebum didn't need to know any of that.
Somehow her tone gave her away. She was saying she didn’t care but her tone was saying she cared. She wondered why his excitement was gone, why he wasn’t interested.
“I don’t understand fancy weddings” Jaebum said, pausing a moment before reframing his sentence, “Actually, I don’t understand the institution of marriage at all”
That was an understatement. Jaebum didn’t see a point to much, let alone a marriage and a fancy wedding. He was boring like that, unromantic, people who really knew him knew that. There was a time when it bugged him, his emotions being so dull while others felt their emotions with such a fire inside them. But he had gotten used to it, accepted his dullness.
“Oh”
Clove was surprised. She expected him to say something like he wasn't interested in girly things like this but this, this she understood. Jaebum watched her carefully, looking out for signs of what was going on in her head.
She looked up at him, her eyes soft and warm, almost melting away the walls that Jaebum surrounded his thoughts with. It made Jaebum feel uneasy. He wasn’t used to people melting his walls, let alone someone who was practically a stranger. He hadn’t even ever told Sooyoung about this.
“I don’t believe in marriages either” she confessed when she noticed Jaebum getting uncomfortable. And then she watched the look of surprise on his face as he processed her words. She could almost see his aura coming back, full of life and colours, as warm as a hot chocolate on a particularly cold day.
“A wedding planner who doesn't believe in marriages?” he asked, beyond amused at her.
“That’s me, yup!” she laughed, knowing the irony in that statement.
She intrigued Jaebum. Everything about her seemed to draw him in.
“Why do you do this work then?” he asked. He wondered if she secretly hated her job, if she just ended up doing this because there was nothing else, or if she found joy in doing work that she hated.
“Because I love it” she said, shrugging at his question.
Jaebum raised his eyebrows at her, questioning and curious.
“I’m sorry you’ve completely lost me. How can you love planning weddings when you don’t even believe in marriages?”
“Planning a wedding has nothing to do with my beliefs though. I see my job as a way to help people. There are people lucky enough to have the faith and the hope of still believing in marriages, and if they want their fairytale and why wouldn’t I want to help them with that?”
Jaebum stayed quiet, mulling over her words. He had to admit, it was a beautiful and unique way to think.
When he stayed quiet, she elaborated. “I admire people who have still have faith in that system. Like Sooyoung, I’m jealous that I can never have the faith she has if I’m honest with you”
She was staring off into the crowd in the small cafe, her mind drifting off elsewhere. And Jaebum looked at her, really looked at her, noticing how she fiddled with her phone when she was thinking, how there was an air of sadness around her when she spoke. He wondered if she ever felt as trapped as he did by the society, by his life and the people in it.
But before he could ask her anything, she snapped back into reality; the trance broken.
“I’m sorry” she said, shaking her head, trying to reason with her, to get herself back on track. He could see her realising she had said too much, gone farther than she wanted to, as if she had stepped across a line she drew for herself.
“Anyway, I should be going now. I’ll have my office contact you when the official papers are ready for you to sign” Clove said, quickly shutting the folder off and stuffing it in her bag.
Jaebum nodded, not sure if she even acknowledged his agreement, before she was practically running out the door.

Fic Writer Meme! tagged by @aban-asaara, thank you!! a nice meme to self-indulgently wind down with after a stressful day...
What is your total word count on AO3?
160,546. I had forgotten all about the AO3 stats page until having to dig that out, oops. I have more short drabbles etc on tumblr as well (and a LOT of stuff I just... never finished/posted anywhere).
How often do you write?
varies hugely depending on what else is going on in my life. In good times, I aim for daily, at least 500 words. During years I participate in NaNoWriMo, 1500-2000 per day in November. Other times I just can’t make even 500 happen with work/etc. Still more other times, my depression kicks in and I’m pretty useless at everything, and unfortunately go months with no writing at all.
Do you have a routine for writing?
I try to write in several short bursts. If doing 500/words/day, then two chunks of 250, and some editing/planning on top. If during NaNoWriMo, 4 chunks of about 500 words each. If I really push myself to get them done in sections, I spend less time fiddling around, but the break between them makes it still relaxing/fun.
I also have a computer/document setup that works very well for me. I write on a laptop that can scroll between several different ‘desktop’ screens. I have one for fun stuff, and set one aside for writing. The only browser window/tabs allowed to be open on that desktop are writing-related ones--research, youtube clips of scenes, wiki articles, etc. All other fun stuff goes on the other desktop where it can’t distract me while I get through a section. Then over the browser I have two word documents: one on the left titled “[StoryTitle.docx]”, and one next to it titled “[StoryTitleNotes.docx]”. On the left is the “final version” of what I’m working on--aka the working document, with the most current edits/chapters/etc. The right “Notes” one is for outlines, summaries, lines I had to delete but might want to use somewhere else, passages I haven’t gotten to yet but wanted to sketch out before I lost the inspiration for them, quotes that I want to echo the feel of, copied dialogue from the game so I don’t forget it, etc etc. Anything related to the story in the working document that I might want to reference. The notes doc can be fairly messy--my level of organization for it changes from project to project. But it makes it WAY easier for me mentally to delete and tweak things when I can put them somewhere else just in case it turns out the first way was better.
What are your favorite kinks/tropes/pairing?
Ohh... my pairings are pretty obvious, I’m really into Lavellan/Solas, Hawke/Fenris, and Shepard/Garrus.
But what I’m really into is Hawke/the concept of found family and also various coping mechanisms+mental health issues; Lavellan/the weight of duty above all else, Shepard/the giddy knowledge that you won’t survive what you have to turn yourself into in order to save everything you love, Ryder+Sam/breaking the boundaries of what it means to be a single conscious entity...
my big literary kinks are pretty much any narrative that has to do with one or more of the following: self-sacrifice, the transcendence of humanity in pursuit of a goal, the knowledge of the futility of one’s actions, the duality of self plus other, the terrifying and terrible beauty of rage, stubborn and violent perseverance in the face of insurmountable odds, the frailty of people who nonetheless fool everyone into believing they’re not broken. I am also a very big fan of nontraditional formats, and the meta-narrative of a story over usual structure.
tl;dr: I like my fiction weird.
Like... I recognize that most of my fics. Do not include a majority of these. And the ones that do aren’t really very popular. The one that gets closest to these concepts is probably the people you love become ghosts inside of you, and like this, you keep them alive which very few people read and got almost no attention. But I knew that when I posted it. I wrote it for me, after finishing the ME trilogy for the first time. The above tropes show up way more in my original writing, while I use fanfiction as a break from these more complicated/heavier themes, and to just have some fun with less technical writing. They’re there, just in smaller doses.
Fics with that sort of bend are WAY harder to search for than ones based on pairings though so like... if you have recs for anything that follows the above themes. please send them to me. i’m dying. please.
Do you have a favorite fic of yours?
How can I not answer this with Fallout from the Fade? It’s my baby. It’s the longest thing I’ve consistently written, without getting bored and abandoning it halfway through. It will probably take me a while yet (depending on mental health/writing pace/etc) to finish but I know how it ends, and most of how to get there. It’s also the third fanfiction I had ever started writing. The beginning feels rough to me when I go back to it (which an inevitable fact of my decision to post as I write/not use beta readers, which I still think was the only way for me to do this story), but I still think a lot of my ideas were clever and my execution may not have been perfect but it was pretty good. I’ve learned a lot while writing this fic.
And also I love to make people suffer. Knowing that people have shed literal tears because of things i have written fills me with the delightful glee to push forward.
But really. Comments mean the world to me. They spur me on through rough patches where I otherwise abandon works. I’m really not used to having an audience: most of what I’ve written in my life is original content that I don’t post/share. Having other people also invested makes me feel accountable, in a good way.
Other honorable mentions: I think Grief is one of my best fics in terms of execution and balance. Less a man than a wild cat and A Slip of the Tongue were both exercises in pacing/timing as well as forays into the highly unfamiliar territory of comedy. The aforementioned the people you love become ghosts inside of you, and like this, you keep them alive satisfies my eternal desire for weird presentation and ideology taking a front seat over narrative structure (I have like. 4 other partial fics similar to this that will probably never be posted because I know they’re what I want to explore, not what other people actually want to read).
Your fic with the most kudos?
Fallout from the Fade, with 626.
Anything you don’t like about your writing?
I wish I was more consistent about sitting down and working. I managed it for 6 straight months when I started the fanfic gig, but to be fair, during that time I also had no friends and spent 5 days every other week camped out in Death Valley with no internet and nothing to do but write and brainstorm. Having the barest scrapings of a social life now that I’ve moved doesn’t do much for wordcount, it turns out.
Now something you do like?
I think I can write about mental illness realistically without it coming across as either overdramatic or idealistic. I like my descriptions, when I allow myself to use them (y’all don’t want to see how flowery most of my works would be without my self control). I have visibly improved since I started writing in 2015.
i feel like a lot of my original circle on tumblr isnt active/writing anymore but gonna tag some people w/ no obligation… @leviathanmirror  @seekingidlewild @littleblue-eyedbird @loquaciousquark @kayla-bird and anyone else who wants to answer!! feel free to tag me if you do it, im lonely...

hi. hello. this is a bit embarrassing but i'm trying to buy my bf a tablet sort of thing so he can draw his arts. he's been wanting one forever but hasn't rly shown me which one he wants. i want to surprise him n buy a good one worth the money n was just curious if you had any suggestions. i've looked into wacom products, but i'm just such a noob to these things n was hoping you can help... i understand if this is silly, you don't have to reply! ur just so amazing, ur opinion is trustworthy 😅☺️
Okay, so, this is just my opinion and since it’s based completely on personal experiences it’s gonna possibly be incredibly different from other people’s opinions, so I just wanna make clear from the start that this is a personal preference and isn’t in any way meant as an absolute truth
Anyway, as far as I’m concerned when you’re just starting out you don’t need anything fancy at all. As an aspiring digital artist your bf might have looked up tablets and cried tears of blood over how much he’d like a cintiq or anything similar, but my very personal opinion is that fancy stuff is gonna be pretty much useless to you and be generally a waste of money? You’re just learning, you don’t need anything more than the basics. My suggestion is that you pick something simple and easy to use - I own this wacom intuos, had it for a long while and I like it a lot, but there’s also less expensive options you can go for too that people seem to like just as much! I’ve lately read on my dash about the Huion H610, they say it doesn’t cost much at all but it’s just as good as the Intuos, that could be a good option for you~
Anon said:  Hey!!! I was wondering if its ok to rb your oc art? I realized a lot less people rb those and i get anxious easily so... also i really don't want to disrespect either! But i always thought of rebloging as a way of saying "i appreciate your art" and i really really (really ) like yours (both the style and itself in general). (I hope you dont mind my bad english ha ha) i hope you don't mind this stupid ask! Im still kind of new to tumblr
It’s 100% okay!!!! *O* Thank you for liking them enough to want to reblog them ;A; !!!!
Anon said:i miss ur bokuroteru so much 😭💕 i love ur art but whenever i see ur header, i just remember ur bokuroteru comic and my heart cries storms for them to be seen again.
Aw anon I’m super happy you like my stuff for those three but as of now inspiration in that department is... super low... and tbh the haikyuu fandom is being incredibly unresponsive and non-vocal about their appreciation of fanworks in this period so even when I do have ideas for that fandom I sort of. Let them go. Or just sketch them out and never finish them.
Like, you know the whole deal about having to draw for yourself and not for others? That’s what I do 100% of the times when I’m starting a drawing, but to draw for myself I don’t exactly need to finish a drawing, you know? Sometimes there’s a scene I wanna see and I sketch it out in a super rough way and as far as my personal desire to see it goes I’m satisfied with that, and everything after that - the cleaning and lining and maybe even coloring - I put the effort in it because I want to share it with people. And the deal with the Hq!! fandom lately is that they don’t share my excitement for it. They either only like it, or don’t comment on it, or comment only to complain about this or that thing. In the worst case posting hq!! only ends up with people asking me to draw something else (ie I feel like drawing Karasuno so I draw it and post it and no one comments/rb/says anything about it but there’s 20 asks in my inbox asking me why I haven’t drawn any bok*ro lately)
When I think about posting stuff for hq lately I automatically compare it to posting stuff for bnha where I could draw a background character that appeared once 120 chapters ago and there’s still gonna be people that go “yes! that character!! I love that character!!! can’t believe there’s actual art for it oh my god!!!!” - that’s... that’s the sort of reaction that makes you wanna share stuff
I dunno, maybe I’m just expecting too much out of the hq fandom. But anyway, sharing for bnha makes me way happier and glad I decided to finish a drawing lately, so I guess that’s what’s happening there.
Anon said:Every time your soft doods art shows up on my dash I have to pause and take a deep breath and just thank god for all the good in the world because I'm blown away every single time
This is s o s w e e t oh my god ;A; thank you so much!!!!
Anon said:Johnny is a fucking angel dammit. Have you read the new DGM already?? I'm in tears. I love this manga so much. The frequency of the releases are killing me... it has such a great story and great characters. It needs more love
I did read it!!!! And yeah the fandom used to be way bigger, but honestly I’m glad it’s just the couple dozens people it is. Like a small town where everyone knows everyone else. No drama, no discourse. Everyone ships what they want and we all pass each other tissues to dry the tears. The only argument that happens regularly is people complaining about the relase schedule and the old fans telling them to let Hoshino live. A good place, this fandom’s a good place.
DGM was my playground for most of my experimenting as far as creating art goes, I really did reach in all directions with it through the years and it helped me shape myself a lot, so I really want it to stay quiet and nice and peaceful, that’s my dream for it haha smaller fandoms have a better chance to keep that freedom
Anon said: Oh man, I live for that Togata x Amajiki interaction
You talking about the color spread cause yes that was adorable!!! ;A;
Anon said:I look a little, and do you still draw Bakugo x Kirishima x Kaminari?
Sure, it’s still my main ship for Kaminari and my main ot3! Just wait for Denki to start being relevant in the manga again, I’ll probably fall headfirst into it all over again haha
Anon said:Your art is so wonderful you're wonderful everything's so wonderful i'm crying omg
SOB no anon you’re wonderful!!!!
Anon said:Due to my brain not wanting to cooperate with me (ever), Bakugou Katsuki is now Batsuki Katsuki in my head.
This is the funniest thing I’ve read today and I’m in t e a r s hahaha
Anon said:Artistic!Mina making pop art and colorful paintings :o what are ur thoughts
HELL YES that’s my main headcanon for Mina, she’s definitely an artsy girl!!! I like the idea of her sharing it with Bakugou t b h
Anon said:I'm still just repeatedly looking at your newest KiriBaku because hot damn.
I’m super glad you liked it!!!!!!! oh my gOD!!!!!!!
Anon said:Heyy please rec Kami comics please! I'm in a Kami art shortage and I currently can't find art as awesome as yours...
I’m so sorry I wish I could help you with this but I don’t know anyone who draws lotsa Kaminari either ;---;

LIFE UPDATE
Hello everyone!  So a bit of an update and also some of my plans for the future! Well it happened! I quit my day job!  I decided to take the plunge and pursue art as much as I can. Its extremely nerve-wracking because I have NO idea how things will turn out but at the same time I feel ten times better knowing I dont have to go back to my job in auto-insurance. I should mention that while it was rough I think I gained a lot of valuable experience there. I definitely picked up practical skills that can help me in the art industry such as social skills, organizing, meeting short deadlines, and crunch times in general. Not to mention the people at my work place were the sweetest. I’ll miss them the most, I genuinely wish them all happiness because my coworkers and supervisors are the reason I managed to hang in there this long to begin with! I firmly believe that you dont need to get into the art industry right away and jobs like this may not be what you want but can be useful and inspiring nonetheless. I certainly have a buncha crazy stories from insurance that Im positive will make great comics or something someday. Trust me, some of this stuff is stranger than fiction.
So now where do I go from here? Well, I have a few things in mind:
Day Job: While I just left a day job I think its imperative to still have some sort of steady income flowing in. Im just stepping into freelance work and thats a very uncertain business. I’ll still be applying to any art positions at studios (animation and gaming) so if you see any in so-cal I’d appreciate if you shoot them my way! But even thats hard to get into so I’m also applying to any small part time job that wont be too stressful.
Freelance: Im going to look for freelance, mainly as a storyboard artist or concept artist since I would love to get more experience in that field for my portfolio and resume. However I also do illustration so again if you hear of any opportunities let me know! If you’re interested in hiring me for freelance you can reach me at [email protected]! However I only accept paid work so if you’re going to ask me to do something for exposure or pay only if something gets picked up later than please ask another artist, thank you!
Commissions: YOU HEARD RIGHT! I’ll be opening commissions probably next week sometime! Im going to start with a few slots 3-5 but dont worry Im planning on doing these more frequently now that I have time and need revenue’’. I’ll be offering some simple fullbody commissions, sketch/line/flats/shaded but I’ll also be offering expressions sheets and pose sheets. Im still debating on whether I want to offer full model sheets and what they would entail. I’ll keep you all posted.
Patreon: Yeup! I’ll be opening a patreon! I’ll keep it fairly simple though since I dont have the gumption to run something with tiers and prizes. I’ll be probably just asking for like something from $2-$5 dollars a month and you’ll get to see sketches from my sketchbook I never post (theres a lot I dont post) and WIP’s for my more finished pieces like illustrations/model sheets/storyboards/comics. I’ll still post drawings and finished pieces on my social networks so artwise nothing much will change, patrons just get a little more behind the scenes~
Comic: Been hinting at it for a while but I think a comic strip would be really great for polishing my skills in storytelling, prop work, and environments. I’m figuring out some of the technical details but I hope to do a simple comic about Oranhamme and Fairy runnin a candyshop!
Ko-Fi: I’ve built some savings in the meantime so this might not be immediate but I thought making a Ko-Fi would just help with saving up for stuff when the time comes to move out and everything.
Merchandise: This will take some figuring out so if you have any advise I would appreciate it! But I was thinking of opening up a little shop to sell stuff like prints and charms! It’d be a mix of original and fanart stuff. If you know any good places to sell and have details or any good suppliers for stuff like acrylics charms I’d appreciate any and all help as I try to get started!
Cons: This one is tough because no guarantee we can get a table but my partner and I are going to aim to try and get back into the con scene and see how that goes!
Now obviously this is a lot and it’ll take time to get everything going and some might not go through. I just gotta do my best to see what works and wanted to consider all my options!
Thanks for sticking with me all this time and hope to show you more awesome art!
