You would be running to calss because you’re always late. And then you crash into Miles,you knew who he was but never really took interest into him unlike the other girls in tour grade. “You need to watch where your going” He said with slight annoyance. “Sorry geez “ y/n says while rolling her eyes. You started to pick up your stuff then you hear the bell go off. “Damnit” y/n says “ Calm down your only late to one class” You decided to ignore him and start walking to your class. “Aye ma, whats your name?” He said while walking beside you “don’t you got somewhere to be?” You said with attitude. He would smirk at you amused by how annoyed you were getting. I mean Miles isnt ugly he’s honestly so beautiful but they way he acts and who he hangs out with.You finally make it to your class after a long ass walk. “Nos vemos más tarde, mami” he said walking off with that same smirk on his face.

”Miss y/n can you explain to me why you are 10 minutes late?” Ms Jackson ask. “Uhm.. I bumped into someone in the hallway..” “hm ok go sit down” She said while tilting her glasses down. You couldn’t stop thinking about your encounter with miles the way he smelled,he stupid smirk,and his hypnotic accent. And like that class was over.

You made sure you weren’t gonna be late to your next class so you hurried through the hallways until you heard shouting and chanting. “What the hell” you say in confusion. You start running to the noise and there he was Miles Morales beating up a boy.

(Lets back track ) That was the same boy who would always hit on you and try to touch you inappropriately. David Micheal he was getting his ass beated by miles . You thought maybe miles heard about what he was doing but you stoped your delusions and they probably got in a fight because david was stupid and a ass hole. Security soon came and pulled miles if him . Miles didn’t even try to continue once security came he just put his hands up and walked to the dean’s office.

Everyone was excused from being late ti their next class. You came in math and sit down noe that you think about it miles has always been there. You would always coincidentally see him in the hallways,On your walks ,and even at parties. Maybe he was trying to protect you you start doing the simple math sheet . Then you hear your name getting calling on the speakers. You almost never got in trouble so why were you getting called into the office.

You walk to the the office and see Miles ,his mom,and david with his parents.” Hello y/n please come sit down,would it be ok if we asked some questions “ the principal asked “uh yeah?” You take a seat and feel the tension in the room.”ok so y/n has David Micheal ever exhibited sexual actions at you?” You start feeling slightly uncomfortable “uh.. uhm yeah sometimes..” you said in at low tone. The principal would start writing stuff down. “See i told you my son would never hurt anyone for no reason” Rio morales said “Oh no my son would not hurt that gurl shes lying she just wants attention “ davids mom would yell.”Tu hijo es un puto pervertido” miles would say under his breath. His mom would elbow him “can i please go now?” You ask still talking in a low tone.” “Yeah uhm you can go y/n. You quickly walk out just before you walk out the door miles winks at you. Your face starts heating up and you hurry out if there. Later in the day you found out that miles only got dentention for 2 weeks and David on the other hand got suspended for 3 weeks. 

The dismissal bell rang and you git up to leave and you see a familiar figure standing near the lockers .There miles was again with his purple jacket and his long braids.”Aye wait up y/n” he would walk up to you”what do you want im just trying to walk home” “Mami chilll come lemme walk you home” you would love that but you would never tell him that.And the way that nickname would make your heart skip a beat makes your knees go weak. “Will that get you to leave me alone?” “Maybe you’ll have to find out now let me walk you home” he says while wrapping his arm around you. You slip from under his arm and continue walking. “Ok so why out of all times you now messing with me why ?”you ask having to look up to him because of his extreme hight. He didn’t answer at first”Mami why does it matter i want you now?” You hide your face in your hands hoping he doesn’t see you(he did) You were almost home when you both had to part ways.he pulled you in by the waist and hugged you. At first your were startled but the hugged back. “hasta mañana amor”he said with a smile on his face while he walked away. Omg you were so freaking out like how did miles morales one of the cutest dudes in your grade found you attractive. You put your hands in your pockets and some how a small piece of paper ended up in your pocket. You pull it out to see that it had miles name on it with his number and small words that read “Llamame cuando quieras” once you were home you face plant on to your bed. Your roomie(Veronica)looks over into your room.”whats his name?” She asks slightly laughing “what i dont know what your talking about “ you said nervously clearly lying “yeah sure” Veronica said sarcastically “ok fine so yk miles ?” “Ofc i know him “ Veronica walks into the room and sits next to you. “Him” you show him the note. “Omg gurl no way!” She said with excitement in her voice “omg yes way and hes not even like how i thought he would be,maybe a tad but sassy at sometimes but he seems nice” you said with genuine happiness in your voice. “Okk go get you some girl” “Stop its not even like that.” You say while putting a pillow on your face.

i'd like to call myself multilingual, but i feel like that would be kind of pretentious considering how im barely conversationally fluent in tagalog and spanish, but can understand a significant portion of a convo.

On fearing the gods - a rant

(this whole post is just me about ranting about how much i love the gods with 0 grammar because im too dumb to understand english and most of you probs don’t know spanish, so yeah)

So I was peacefully sitting while listening to my devotional playlist to Apollo when I remembered how freaking scared I was of him when I started getting into hellenism and now that I have been worshipping him for at least 6 months I don’t get why I was so anxious about it xd.

Like it makes sense, most of us had to study ancient greek myths at school and see how “scary” they were portrayed at the myths and then when we go to worship probably our first thought will be “gods imma be turned into a cow or they are going to kill me if i fuck up”. We are also sold this idea of “don’t you dare to worship a deity if you haven’t been into witchcraft for 3 years” or a stupid idea like that, so let’s talk about it. 

DON’T FREAKING FEAR THE GODS, THERE IS NO NEED AND NO REASON (but research, i won’t defend/help you if you don’t research).

“the gods are too angry” “im not enough for them” “i can’t sit down to meditate everyday for them” “I cant have an altar for them”: any of this are some things new worshippers have said to me, and all of them are fake or not smth important. 

In my experience and in my relationship with them, the gods are like a warm hug when coming home or those people you run to when you’re happy, sad, mad, etc. THEY ARE COMFORT AND GUIDANCE HOW MORE CAN I EXPLAIN IT, I LOVE THEM AND SO SHOULD YOU! Honestly I just can’t tell you how freaking much I love the gods but that’s not the topic xd. 

They understand we are mortals who mess up, they do, if you messed up without bad intentions nothing extremely bad will happen! You won’t die or smth. Example, I did a dumb joke about a Poseidon myth, the next day I had an allergy to the sand, did offerings and said sorry from the bottom of my heart, 5h later that allergy disappeared.

They also understand our lives, they understand even if we wanted we can’t dedicate 24/7 365 days to them, they understand that we can’t buy jewels for them THEY TRULY DO! APOLLO ACCEPTS MY WATER BOTTLE AS OFFERING SO DW!!!!! 

My point is that if you go into worship with good intentions nothing bad will happen, and instead of stopping yourself from worship just because you fear them you should kill that feeling and run to their arms because it’s totally worthy.

so her full name, according to rick, is: reyna avila ramirez-arellano. right off the bat, my first issue with it is that she has three surnames. even for hispanic kids, there should only be one. i’ve actually read posts were they say that ávila is her middle name, but it doesn’t make sense because that’s a common surname?(another issue is the spelling; it would be ávila, not avila. that’s not how it’s spelled lol, because the accent changes pronunciation...but that’s another topic if ur into spanish grammar. im just being nit-picky ig). so making “ávila” part of her name either means that rick thought that that was a suitable middle name (??) or he just wanted to make reyna have those moments were the character goes, “i’m latina and have the loooongest surname ever✨ did i mention i’m latina?”

if he’d actually done some research, he would’ve realized that:

 for latine ppl, three surnames is not common.

 if someone does have three surnames (i do), one of them is hyphenated like reyna’s is (like mine is as well). but it’s usually short. it also means that the hyphenated surname counts as one. so for example, ramirez-arellano is technically just one surname. but it still doesn’t make sense. nothing about her name does. which leads me to número tres.

reyna wouldn’t even have two surnames in the first place. she’s a demigod. i don’t think the roman goddess bellona has a surname lmao. at least, not a legal one that could make it to reyna’s birth certificate. unless bellona used the mist?? but if rick knew what he was doing, it would’ve been specified—and anyway, her father didn’t marry bellona; it makes no sense that reyna would have two surnames. 

okay, so if you don’t know what i'm talking about with the last part, i'll quickly explain. the reason as to why why latin americans (and spaniards) have two surnames instead of one is because traditionally, when a woman gets married, she doesn’t change her surname. instead, when the family has kids, she’ll pass on her surname to her children. usually, the paternal surname is the one that goes first, and then the mother’s. the combination of both parents’ names represents a unity between the two legal families. in the case of reyna, however, no such union happened. bellona left and that was that. so why does reyna have, not one, but three different names? because rick wanted to add on the stereotype of long ass names lmao.

it’s just a mess. the hyphenated ramirez-arellano would mean that at some point her father’s family decided to merge in two different family names? when it could’ve just been ramirez de arellano? where did that name come from, anyway? why did he add in ávila, for that matter? because reyna fits nicely as a ramirez; there’s no need for that ávila. ngl i prefer that she be named ramirez than ávila lol. but anyway, that’s just my opinion.

the point is that it makes no sense and was just a way for her to sound edgy and like the “maría josefina de las rosas ximenez” type of stereotypical latina shit that is made fun of in western media. leo didn’t get this treatment, which means rick understood the basics of matrimony and why, when there’s no father in the picture, the kid gets the mother’s surname. lol. so why did he do this to reyna? i want to scream because fdkjghdkjf she canonically hates her surname as well. please ricardo!!! the least you could’ve done at this point was make her proud of her name and culture! this mess could’ve worked out if, one way or another, reyna explained the reasons behind her surnames. did her father want to pass on his mother’s surname to his daughters?

So I, Mod Sam, am a fucking disaster and decided to build a bunch of conlangs for my WIP. One of the conlangs is Fancy Space Latin for the evil elites to speak and be assholes in. True to form, it is the most annoying language to speak.

There are six noun cases, which is mostly just annoying, but there are also noun genders, because of course the empire is gonna be sexist, right. So there are twelve different conjugations* for each noun. Oh, but that’s only for the singular form (man, woman, dog, etc). Plurals all have their own, special conjugation. So that’s twenty-four different conjugations.

And don’t even get me started on the articles. Articles are words like “a” “the” and “some” - how many of a thing+definite/indefinite. Now, this language has that, but they also have articles for animacy. So instead of saying “the dog” (tios waem) you have to say “the animal dog” (tios ayay waem). Instead of “the man” (tios gliosta) you have to say “the human man” (tios aya gliosta). If it’s a plant, or a rock, or something else along those lines - no article And of course, the words for those articles are only one letter off! Because FUCK! Better make it as easy as possible to accidentally insult someone!

Also - and this is actually kind of cool and I’m a little mad English doesn’t have this - there are two versions of “we”. The first version is inclusive (the speaker+the subject+maybe some friends). The second version is exclusive (the speaker+their friends, but not the subject).

and FINALLY there’s the “many more most” dilemma, which is a pain in the ass.

so “bal” means “little” and I will be using that for explaining myself. So “bal” is just little, but “balkras” is littler, and “stibal” is littlest. Because why make it consistent right.

I was three seconds away from making a base-20 number system because I hate god and also jesus but I decided it would be too much work so it’s just base-10 and future me is relieved.

(also the word order is a fucking mess but that’s neither here nor there and it’s only a problem because I don’t know what the fuck grammar is)

*(I have no idea if I’m using the word conjugate correctly, all language terms sound like Charlie Brown adults whenever someone tries to explain them to me.)

I respond to punk, dumbass, stupid, cutie, and nerd. But i really like king and lad (like a lot). I also try not to curse so “Punk” would subsitute to “b!tch” and freak/frick for f!ck among others. I prefer emoticons to emojis and my biggest dilemma right now is trying to decide if I should buy kick rollers or docs. If you try, you can tell whether im on mobile or laptop based on grammar and capitalized “i”s.

My kins/characters that I align (??) with (if kinning is cancelled) are Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds, Chidi from The Good Place, and Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter.

If its 1am and im hungry ill probably reach for peanut butter m&ms, or hot cheetos. Often ill drink a arizona green tea (from the bottle, less mess) or tap water if im feeling spicy.

This is a criminal minds fan blog and if I knew how to properly work tumblr I would put this in my description, but here we are. Anyways. I like to write and I love criminal minds, so I have headcannons, incorrect quotes, and a few fanfics in the works. As soon as I figure out how to do links I’ll make a master list (figured it out, nerd)but until then, I don’t have any fanfics out(posted potential a little bit ago). At least not yet. Not exactly Izone related but tips on language learning?

hi! i guess you read my about haha… im actually not too fluent at the languages im learning but ill just list out what helps me!

- be interested in the language/have a reason to learn it! i actually always thought that i was bad at learning languages because in school, i was slow at learning french, spanish was too complicated for me, and latin was an entire mess lol… but then i noticed that i was kind of ‘accidentally’ learning korean and japanese from watching variety shows and anime lol

- have a friend to speak with. when i was in japan, i spent one day with a friend who was also learning japanese (but more advanced than me) and learned a lot! the next day i noticed i was so much more comfortable with the language and people were mistaking me for a japanese person lol 

- if you dont have a friend to speak with, speak by yourself lol okay tbh when im watching anime or variety shows and there are short phrases i kind of repeat them… i dont know when i started doing this but this is how i learned a lot of my vocab and phrases LOL. i also randomly spew japanese or korean phrases to my mom when we’re talking sometimes and now she doesnt even bother asking me what it means lol

- subtitles are your friend… but also enemy :/ when i watch shows i read the subtitles but also pay close attention to how they talk. if you just watch the show on low volume and dont know how things are being translated or what they’re saying, you miss out on learning how people use the language on a day-to-day basis. my mom always asks me why i need to watch videos at high volume when there are subtitles lol i learn a lot like this!

- stop to read everything in that language. this really helped me for korean… when i watch variety shows and the random text pops up, i always pause the video and read it. then i connect it to the translation and learn vocab and grammar and it’s really cool lol. also in japan i would stop to read a lot of signs or try to read everything on menus or candy wrappers and stuff lol it’s good practice!
