Okay well you try being constantly asked by media in a crowded, echoing space if you’re having problems with your confidence after you’ve shown improvement that has been ignored. You try being kind to people only to have the kindness thrown back in your face and vitriol said behind your back. You try facing back handed commentary and snide remarks about your future. Day in and day out, you try having article after article slandering your name being put out simply because people hate that you have money in a sport where that is the norm.
I’d be fed the fuck up too. Lance shouldn’t have to play nice for these people to treat him with the bare minimum respect. He deserves his seat, and I’m sick of it always being questioned if he does.
going hiking with jade but you have low stamina so you give it your best shot but there's no way you're keeping up with the mountain lovers club president hiking veteran that he is
so at one poin you'll lean into him, cuddling into his shoulder before looking up to stare at him with your best puppy dog eyes
"jadeee... i'm tired... carry me?" ( ╹▽╹ )
he smiles endearingly at your antics, and the next thing you know, he's carrying you bridal style with his arms firmly on you
he doesn't mind if you'd whine and ask him to carry you more in the future. he quite enjoys being this close to you, and being so close to you face lets him see all the little details that he's grown ever so fond of, admiring your reactions closely as he explains what sort of fungi you're looking for
and of course, it's also the perfect position for him to steal a kiss ;)
It's interesting, because at my last job my boss was good---very good---about creating and fostering relationships. At the time I was horrified, because why are you texting our general counsel? Why are you calling someone up and asking them to opine on something that's just showed up on your radar?? This is business, we need to do business-y things in a business way!!!
It took me a long time to recognize what this approach bought him. He was terrible at data entry, yes. I don't think he once ever approved my vacation time, just said "sure, put your out of office message on." (He hated approving vacation time, so he just....didn't.) But he was looped in, hooked in, always consulted. Everyone picked up his calls, because if he was calling it wasn't going to be a haranguing, he wanted to work with you to achieve both your goals, and honestly? you could call him out of the blue too. It worked both ways. He was crystal clear when things were handed down from the top (usually because we'd get a beer and he'd complain about it) and when requests were coming from him/our team. And he was always, always very clear that we were his people, and it was Us against The Company; he was consistently, unequivocally and completely on our side.
(........this did not stop The Company from pulling its shenanigans, but it always felt like he was siding with Us when it did.)
I know this, because now I'm in an organization where my boss isn't on our side, where things aren't explained---even when explanations would make the boss' requests more reasonable. I'm aware of other situations too, where members of the team have been what seems like deliberately insulted or attacked by our boss, which is frankly unnecessary.
I don't have a conclusion to draw from all of this, and god knows that bad bosses are ten a penny, each terrible in their own way. Still, I do think about it more and more, particularly as I stare down 1 year with the company.
I am so curious if anyone else does this, one of the most useful things I do when making art is being stupidly overconfident almost deluding myself, like if throughout the entire process I completely convince myself I can pull off whatever it is I’m trying to do, even if it’s something beyond my skill level that I naturally don’t end up reaching at the end, the end result comes out better than I expect even when it doesn’t look like what I was going for. I don’t rly know how to properly explain this but I’ve been doing it all my life and it’s probably one of the funniest mental processes I go through when making art
OKAY OKAY but the way Louis is split in two with both Claudia and Lestat trying to vie for his attention, for his love, but Claudia is able to jump into his mind, to ask him to come with her without Lestat hearing, and that’s the moment Lestat calls him Lou, because he sees him looking towards her and he has no idea what she’s telling him but he knows he’s losing him to her. And how that desperation immediately turns to rage, to blame, to accusation. By turning them both, he’s turned them both against him, he can’t read them, can’t understand them as deeply as they understand each other, and it’s only when Claudia says out loud so he can hear exactly what she wants him to: Come with me. Let’s be vampires worthy of your love. That he truly snaps.
Lestat knows he’s lost. Has known it for all the time Louis had spent searching restlessly for Claudia’s mind.
And the conclusion to this rage, with Lestat and Louis flown out far into the sky, so far away that Lestat hopes no other mind can reach Louis’. So that Claudia can’t hear. So that they’re truly alone. And he finally admits just how deeply his love for Louis reaches, and just how fine a thread he’s been clinging to coming to terms with the fact that perhaps Louis doesn’t love him, may never have loved him, in the way that he loves him.
And yet even in that moment with Louis half drained and gasping the frigid thin air, with Lestat begging him to just admit it, that he doesn’t love him, Louis... doesn’t. Instead he says let go of me. And I wonder, perhaps, what Lestat hears in that, what those words connote for him. Is Louis only asking to be put down, or is he asking Lestat to let go of this obsession with him? That change in Lestat’s eyes, the bitterness of not getting a solid answer but still coming to some sort of conclusion sells it for him. So, when he drops Louis, it’s as performative as any other gesture.
He may want Louis to feel that he is done with him, but that will never be true.
i have a counter argument to the 'only one person can boop bill' thing, mabel. she's the type of person to slap stickers on people, she would definitely be the type to also boop others occasionally and bill would be no exception. she probably doesn't do it to annoy bill like dipper would, but maybe as a form of a friendly gesture, kind of like those people who will lightly punch friends in the arm when they hang out.
You know what? Good point. Mabel would get away with more than most, as a fun-loving lady! Bill understands those impulses, and being a touchy person! He indulges in similar ones himself.
Though when Bill's not in the mood to be playful and gets booped anyway? The 'sister-in-law' status grants her considerable grace.
Just curious what the average level of personal investment in these sorts of things is. Like, how much do people usually get into silly stuff like this their friends ask of them? etc. etc. Which I know, only surveying a small sample on a very specific website means I'm not getting an exact average idea lol, but.. curious nonetheless .. Maybe reblog for bigger sample size but also this is not very serious at all/not worth a call to action gbhjbhjb
While some lampreys turn to a parasitic lifestyle as adults, drilling into the sides of bigger animals to feed on their flesh and blood, lamprey larvae, ammocoetes, are actually filter feeders! The lamprey larva life stage can last up to a decade, and they spend their time being half-buried in sandy substrate, consuming whatever tiny organic particles float to them. Ammocoetes' feeding rate is the slowest of any suspension-feeding animal, and due to this they require a habitat very rich in nutrients.
proper reupload in the high quality this fantastic segment so deserves; eagle pig and duck bias notwithstanding, this will forever be my favorite variant of the fabled switcheroo (and a reminder that Daffy was first at his own game!) the committal on behalf of both characters--especially the sincerity of Daffy's feigned sincerity--really sets it apart

Man I can’t wait for the episode showing the relationship from Blitz perspective, because rn people really are acting like Stolas is the only victim when they are both toxic to one another. It’s clear that Blitz is aware of the power dynamic, and Stolas isn’t. Blitz has no reason to believe he has any power or control over the way Stolas feels, and has absolutely no reason to believe that Stolas would ever see him as an object of affection or as an equal. And truthfully, there are plenty of comments Stolas makes that suggest he doesn’t see imps as equal to him, and whilst it comes off as ignorant rather than malicious, you can’t really blame Blitz for not trusting Stolas to have good intentions.
Also whilst the episode demonstrates Stolas is an abuse victim, people are ignoring the fact that Blitz is also clearly an abuse victim, and that we haven’t actually seen Blitz’s backstory from his own perspective yet to know the full extent of that abuse. But this is perhaps the first episode where we see Blitz scared multiple times. Compare the way he behaved when captured by Stolas’ hounds to the times he’s been captured or cornered in the past (by the murder family, striker, the Dhorks.) As Loona says, there’s no euphemisms, innuendoes, or swears from Blitz this time, meaning it’s serious. He is instead quiet, passive, and stammering. And you tell me there’s no power dynamic to do with their classes and background which Stolas fails to recognise but Blitz can’t ignore.
