flash forward six years and him and hizashi are 22 and just started dating. it’s like three months in and new and fun and pretty casual. but then aizawa gets a phone call!!! a whole bomb dropped on him all at once 🫢 the girl, shinsou, was killed in a villain attack and her son is at the hospital. she had cut ties with her family and aizawas name was on his birth certificate so they called him. aizawa goes to the hospital and there is just!! a little purple haired six year old who looks just like him 🥺🥺 mama shinsou cut ties with her family bc they were all scared of shinsou when his quirk manifested and she wasn’t having any of that. she never reached out to aizawa bc he ghosted and she had a clue of what was going on and knew he wanted to be a hero and she didn’t want to mess up his chances. she believed in him!!! the hospital ask aizawa what he wants to do and there’s no way he’s letting this kid go into foster. he doesn’t really have family of his own to help him out but he’s a hero, and if he can’t save this kid then what’s the point?? so now he’s 22 with a six year old and a crappy apartment and he’s just like. um okay. he calls hizashi and is like. hey um can you pick me up from so and so hospital. i’m a dad. and hizashi is like???? but obviously comes to pick shouta up. hizashi is like thee definition of ride or die he’s like yooo whaddup little dude!! shouta is like WHAT AM I GONNA DO and they make the chaotic plan to just. raise a kid together. 3 months into a relationship and 22 let’s gooooo 🫠🫠🫠

Yuichi Usagi is [SURNAME] [given name]

lol I've written abt it before going into more specifics & making theories, but this post is just to clear it up again as a general ref for newer fans reading old or new posts abt it and finding themself confused... edit3(15.1): rightfully so! if you've ever watched more than 5 anime or just read some manga, you might recognize that Yuichi is most commonly a given name in Japan. Even viewers familiar with japanese would have made the same assumption. But the show itself uses it as a first name, so it becomes confusing. After jan 6th we found the behind-the-scenes lore for that too.

- clearest tell in the show itself that Usagi is his first name - his auntie calls him Usagi. What auntie calls their sole nephew or close family member by their family name? ... which would have to be her own family name then too...???

Secondly. He introduces himself as Usagi the more he's in the city. First as Yuichi Usagi, but then after a few chases, he gives up and introduces himself to Kitsune as "Usagi"in the 1st episode. boy wants to be known as Usagi haha.

edit 2 (8.1.2024): as of 6.01 we have official confirmation that this is fact + a little backstory! Yuichi is the boy's surname

the whole show, all the other characters use japanese naming convention - e.g. Gen introduces himself as Murakami Gennosuke to the Bat Squadron. it seems the other younger characters call each other by given name basis because they're either all around the same age or don't feel like using family names for each other. Often characters don't have family names because they're orphans (Chizu, Kitsune, Hana). Or it's the only name they go by in general (Tetsujin, Lady Fuwa).

it's that simple! you can headcanon whatever but at least know the show itself has named him this way.

I've already written about this b4 too but Yuichi can very rarely be a family name (apparently). there might be other reasons the show crew gave him Yuichi as a family name, but if that doesn't cut it, you can always adopt my theory that he has a rare two given names.

But yeah, the show makes it clear that Usagi is his first name. It's a spinoff based on Usagi Yojimbo and some of its stories and ideas, and made by fans of the comic and Stan's work. They decided to give him this name, for whatever reasons, and it's his name used in the show. There's too much much work in the show itself for them to give him a random name either, "just because they're ignorant" or even just bc they didn't research. They clearly did or the show wouldn't have some surprising elements to it as a spinoff or as a past+future combo of japanese aesthetics.

Him and the comics' original Usagi, Miyamoto Usagi can share a first name. I know it looks confusing coming from other shows where evryone has specific names. I know it's just generally confusing as a tmnt fan... but their names and tags can co-exist as-is. maybe i don't get out enough into other shows but I've never seen a fanbase stretch themselves so into a pretzel over characters sharing their first name. also Miyamoto Usagi is based on a famous historical samurai, more precisely - Miyamoto Musashi. His movie depiction was what inspired Stan Sakai in the 80s... ppl in real life share first and last names very often so it just doesn't bother me personally that they share one name, but not their family name. So I don't get anymore why ppl are upset that his name is a combo of two first names... I believe there's also a irl children's book author named Usagi Yuichi (maybe pseudonyms being animal names is more common in japan?idk) so I wonder if the crew knew about that 🤔

clearing this up again bc every time I see someone say smth about this show and it's some misunderstanding on top of a misconception, I just wanna make a simple chart to explain things lol. but i don't know if ppl would care even. I know ppl sorta dislike this show or don't care abt it anyways. but then... why talk about it? why share info like a fan who knows or cares about it... and then it's false info... so idk, if they're not a fan, don't take them at face value, but even if they're a fan, it's easy to share info without a source and have others think it's real. Be ready for info to change or your first impressions to break. I've mostly only theorised or drawn from the show itself so far, but even things I say might change if other evidence is provided. So... lol lets all just read into this show calmly I guess.

edit (7.1.2024): lol another thing to add that I didn't think about: there's a 1000 years between the generations of Miyamoto Usagi and Yuichi Usagi. so them not having the same surname would be considered quite normal (and so far, no evidence to conclusively say that M! Usagi is a grandpa... the scene between Usagi and his auntie in the evening in ep 1 also seems to allude that there are many generations between the og era and the future era and that Usagi's auntie is speaking of her own direct great grandfather and Miyamoto Usagi separately...

I finished osnf after almost 2 months and

i think my favourite scene outside of the liz, thiago, joui scene in the last episode, was the bit after they killed the big slug in the asylum. idk the pacing of it was just really cool to me, the drawing in the sludge and losing sanity without realizing. for me it set up this feeling of "you cant trust anything you dont know for certain about" for the entire rest of osnf.

that fucking house btw. i wanted them to leave that house the moment they got gregorio out of that room. i have a burning hatred for that house. i would like for that house to explode.

i want to put Arthur in a shoebox for safe keeping so that he may never get hurt again. Cesar too. Joui as well. and Liz.

ill probably take a week or two to mourn finishing this series before moving onto Desconjuração. which is a very fun word to type. probably will make another post like i did this time to put all my updates in as i watch it.

Red Hood and the Outlaws Take 3

(im reposting a comment i made from reddit bc i rlly like this idea but others don't seem to be sharing my enthusiam... anyway free to use fanfic idea!)

jason and batfam are on a mission. Rose is chilling at a motel or smthing (idk what she does). jason gets caught in gunfire or an explosion or smthing, and dies. Rose gets murdered whilst her gaurd is down by someone who wanted revenge on her for some reason.

jason and rose end up in hell, bc u know, murderers. they see each other and are like, bruh. did we die at the same time? besties!! idk what hell would be like (is there a comic for that?) but i assume slave labour and they get forced to work, whips and chains and all that jazz. they see eddie. rose is like omg??? ur here??? why?? jason is like u know this guy? and then theres this whole moment between jason and eddie when they figure out who the other is and they're like bro,,, u changed. anyway, insert random reason for eddie to be in hell bc i dont know enough about him. maybe just talking to the devil is enough for u to go to hell? anyway, jasons like, this blows. i don't want to be in hell anymore. wanna break out?

gang is like wdum? we're dead. Jasons like, my body isn't here right? my soul is, and i got taught by some cranky old lady (ducra) how to weaponise my soul, (all blades) so here goes nothing. and he does some cray magic protagonist shit and literally breaks out the gates of hell, rose and eddie following. before they go back to their bodies theres a comedy/suspense moment where eddie reminds them he got blown up (he did get blown up right?) so he doesn't have a body to return to but uh oh too late fade to white.

jason wakes up back in his body in the morgue. he's all been checked in as a dead guy, and its very freaky for jason to have to break out of the morgue. fam totally thinks he's dead. rose wakes up exactly where she was killed, clearly having been dead for a couple days but had no one check on her or notice (this fucks her up a bit.) eddie wakes up in some random feild butt naked (maybe whatever the last place he died was) and has wings now. and feels much much different. (has newish powers too. theres a reason for this.) eddie is big confusion and really trying to figure out whats going on.

cut back to hell, theres some devils, demons and such, im going to assume theres levels to hell like in real life scripture, so who ever ran the level of the hell they broke out of, is going to be pissed. he wants them back and theres some creepy mage devil thing that casts a spell, and it marks all three of them. A strange looking tatoo mark appears on eddie, rose and jasons shoulders, and all three of them are like,, fuck. all them simultaneously wonder if the others have a mark like theirs and it probably has something to do with breaking out of hell, so they want to find each other and ask if its just them or if theres repurcussions to reaking out hell (of course there are!!)

jason immediatley heads back to his hideout to gather his stuff, and survelliences the fam for a while, and just witnesses a repeat of what hurt him the first time. they left his body to be discovered as jason todd (hacked the batcomputer to see the uploaded recording of their masks) and never avenged him. he listens to the comms and even hears one of them try to justify his death??? by saying maybe its not all bad, he wasn't a good person on his second life and now less people will die, and that they all tried to save him but he refused to be a good person. max angst if its bruce who says it. jason is fucking pissed, but also super fucking heart broken, and just decides fuck it, they think he's dead, let them. and leaves to find the others. (he's really given up this time)

meanwhile rose is freaking the fuck out and having the worlds biggest break down bc she just died in a seedy motel to a cheap shot and no one noticed that she was dead for a week. and now shes back with a freaky mark and wondering if there was a point returning bc apparently no one gives a shit. she wants to find jason bc if anyone can understand this feeling its him. those two meet up pretty easy bc they have each others contacts, though its heavily coded bc i doubt they just have each other on a snap streak.

eddie meanwhile is also going thru hell on earth bc uhm, no one wants to apprach the literal devil (naked) asking for a ride to the nearest town. eventually cops get called, eddie is struggling with his new powers, accidently kills some people, becomes a villain by accident, and u know what? just all around making things actively worse everytime he tries to make things better. he really just wants some pants guys please stop shooting at him.

anyway, after a little while of causing problems on accident, he gets some pants, realises that hes an actual demon this time around when a preist starts chanting at him, (apparently when you stay in hell too long and break out without a body to return to, you end up just,,, materlising one thats a little more demonic than last time) and fucks off toward gotham bc thats the only place he can think of to find jason (since he was robin last he saw, maybe batman knows where he is?)

the jason and rose duo meet up with half way and laugh at him a little bc dude, can u stop setting things on fire please. in the middle of them meeting up, huggin it out bc omg dude we're actually alive!! they get interrupted by a different demon thats trying to kill them. fight ensues, they defeat it, learn that theres a bounty on their head (in hell) and that they're being tracked via magic mark. the team then decide that they need to suit up, gather materials and weapons to deal with devil bounty hunters, and off they go. the adventure for the new outlaws begins. (with actual plot this time)

Kira wins au, where Light has to meet his family (before he left ) Sayu still recovering from the kidnapping accident and Sachiko still struggling with everything but she's glad Light is still alive Idk where I can put mklt in here

Light only told Mikami about his meeting with Sachiko for the last time before they elope (www) They're not interested in talking about their family he thinks Mikami won't care about them and just move on

But Mikami will respond by randomly talking about her dead mom just trying to sympathize with Light (he's trying) but it makes everything more awkward for Light (like.. okay?) They never talk about their family again for years lol

1. how would you describe your art style? uhhhhhhhh, maybe "safe" is the word rn. whenever I think of my art style, what comes to mind is just how little I've been pushing things with it. I wanna change that ;D

2. what's your favorite thing about your style? I realize I like to use semi-realistic proportions, its cool how comfortable I've gotten with drawing faces and bodies

3. what's your least favorite thing about your style? It's so static man. same thing I said for the first question, I don't think anything really looks bad, but it just is lacking in creativity in comparison to the older art that should be looking worse than what I do now. I prefer my older stuff ;D (looking at you inktobertale2021.. where did it all go wrong)

4. favorite thing to draw? regular ol people. human characters are def more in my comfort zone, which explains why I keep hitting skeletons with the humanization ray (also I prefer to draw feminine characters)

5. least favorite thing to draw? I can't even say I rlly dislike it cuz of how rarely I even do it, but I am procrastinating so hard on learning backgrounds..

6. warm colors or cool colors? cool colors are my fav, but i find it easier to work with warm ones (I used to put a cool overlay over all my warm toned drawings hgdhfg)

7. show us a WIP behold, the wip ever. this drawing... was supposed to be posted on august 2022. and then, it was supposed to be posted on dec 21st, dream and nightmares birthday. (atp if I do end up wanting to finish this idea again, I'll probably just scrap it and start over)

8. what's the most fun and least fun parts about your process? most fun is flat color and rendering. (though I rarely do the latter anymore) and for least fun, tbh a lot of the sketching part tends to be difficult for me, sometimes its cool tho

9. show us a finished piece alongside the original sketch example from when sketching was fun

10. how many different sketches do you usually have until your piece is finished? I think I do need to make more of at least thumbnail sketches tbh.. I usually just make one and keep editing it, trusting the process. (and that fails like 70% of the time. woww wonder why sketching isnt fun for me-) 11. show us the last thing you drew, be it a finished piece or a small doodle can this count,,

13. how long do you usually take one a piece? depends. I'll have like 276478923 wips started, and then I get a random idea that I just have to do right at that moment, and I'll get it done in like 1-4 hours. meanwhile old sketches start to rot and maybe if its lucky I'll revisit it before my motivation dies and my style is too different to wanna continue from where I left off 14. digital or traditional? digital all the way, i've gotten too dependent on the transform tool + liquefy ;D (and many other things tbh but I'd be here all day if I tried comparing them more jhdjdf)

15. if digital, what program do you use? procreate, the layouts on other drawing programs scare me

16. favorite media to work with when drawing traditionally pen on paper (am I understanding this right wdym media-)

17. what do you love getting compliments about? I like when people enjoy the humanizations I come up with, and also original designs in general 18. are you satisfied with the attention your art usually gets? hmmm yeah

19. how often do you draw? very often, I just don't have finished things to share most days

21. something you would like to improve on the dynamicness (well, the lack of it) of everything, as said before

Hey hey! So i havent fully read ur fics (its on my to read list but uh..... Im really bad at actually reading stuff on there djdndn one day i shall read ur entire fic list) but ive liked what ive seen so far so ur really high on my to read list and i saw u post the new chapter for the smell of the rain and i didnt see it was a multip chap at first so i just started reading it sjsjsjdj and this line specifically took me out so bad that i couldnt finish the chapter the day i started reading it bc i just kept laughing every time i went back to read it.

"he had always thought of himself as the kind of person to be able to make rational down-to-earth decisions no matter what – which was a delusion already, Kankurou’s memories of his first exchange with Shino are definitely infused with a lot of acting on impulse and out of spite –" like this is just fucking gold its so hilarious hello? Anyway. This has made me eant to read all ur works like right this second so expect a lot of kudos ig?? Idk what the point of this was i just wanted to let u know how much that line made my day and it felt awkward leaving it as a comment when i actually hadnt fully read the series. Hdjdjdd so ye. But im loving what ive read so far! The way u characterise is really fun! Hope u have a good day/night ty for sharing ur writing with us!

No judgement, I am bad at getting myself to read things too haha

I just love the idea of Shino being like- this guy that really imagines that he is calm and not emotional and not the type to make decisions on impulse and everything (not like a certain somebody) (kiba) when he is truly easily overwhelmed by emotions and generally not great at dealing with them.

And it doesn't help that a lot of people do see him like that too. He's the nerd with the monotonous voice that you can always go to to ask a question and is always available and will answer even you don't listen to him 9 times out of 10. He serves that role both within the konoha 13 and within team 8 between Kiba's impulsivity and Hinata's shyness/emotional sensibility. He's meant to be the down-to-earth guy and he's not.

He repeatedly gets angry and frustrated in the canon but it's barely ever listened to because he's not good at expressing it in a way that sounds serious enough. And also I think he's not great at handling irrational and unanticipatable things, like his own emotions. He needs to be able to rationalise and makes sense of things and have explanations and justifications. And on the one hand, it does help because he spends a lot of time thinking his choices through and explaining them, but on the other, when he is faced with an emotion that is too strong or unexpected to be able to be channeled through reason, he as absolutely no tools to deal with it and he's just overwhlmed.

In conclusion, yes, I think he's the type of guy to make implulsive and maybe misinformed decisions because he's horny and he has a crush and the whole time he is internally staring at himself thinking "god why the fuck am I doing this???" lmao

Coincidentally, for the "why is Shino a teacher in Boruto where did that come from" crowd (I'm not judging, I get it), I think this why he's both good and bad with children. He's good at containing people and providing a cohesive and explained framework, justifying rules and letting space for them to be debated reasonably so that things make sense, and I think that's valuable for a lot of kids who often get assigned random rules and you have to follow them because that's what rules are for and adults decide. But also, children have many emotions often, they can be chaotic, especially a group of them, and, once again, when being consistent and fair and justifying himself does not suffice to make this manageable, he is probably quite quickly out of other options.

I need to share the dream I had last night (this morning. w/e) before I forget all of it. It was one of those dreams where I alternated between literally being the protagonist and watching it play out as, this time, a literal movie, which @vesperaevis, @hedgiwithapen and maybe @isi7140 were insistently showing me?

General plot was: modern world, there's some sort of human agency that fights & subdues supernatural threats; I (random innocent) stumbled into a big boss fight and got possessed by a superpowerful ancient spirit of darkness, and ended up using my new powers, stubborn determination and faith in universal personhood to bully both sides into being friends.

Details I remember:

Idk if the supernatural was openly known if if there was a standard 'masquerade

I think I was at the boss battle because I was trying to talk to a boy I had a crush on? who was part of this anti-monster agency, but I didn't know that? Maybe there was a masquerade. He was some sort of legacy kid in the agency; maybe instead of an official thing it was one of those "this family has hunted monsters for centuries" set-ups.

They had a big compound and cool weapons, etc. but a sense that they used to be better funded & staffed

Mostly human but 3(?) cat people, like, D&D-style cat people. I distinctly remember a wide banner movie poster showing 3 cat people on each side, which was thematic ofc. All the cat people were elite fighters, especially at martial arts (ft claws).

The Bad Guys included 3 key players:

- 1 short, fast, kinda goblin-y in appearance? dark blue skin? (my visual memory is of the dream is bad.) very vicious, vengeful, was maybe enacting a plan to destroy the world in that initial boss fight. most dangerous enemy (except ancient darkness spirit possessing me)

- 1 tall, reptilian and/or snake-like in the way the cat people were cat-like, 2nd most dangerous enemy in terms of power but less motivated to do mass murder about it; I distinctly remember thinking he looked exactly like someone out of another piece of media but I have NO idea what. Flat head, vivid yellow snake eyes.

- "Chrommaster", no I do not know why he had a name like a supervillain, maybe literally was a human who took up fucked up magic somehow? dressed all in black & dark colors in some sort of bulky tac gear, with a dark cloak or cape, but his eyes were constantly shifting oil-slick bright colors on account of the Fucked Up Magic he wielded. Which idk if I ever saw or knew the details of in the dream, but I'm gonna say he did weird shit with reality that made people look like they're been color-saturated or desaturated, as a side effect of killing them? 3rd most dangerous antagonist.

(Yes my character design for the villains FUCKED in this dream)

so, I got tangentially caught up in a boss battle with...all of the above? 2/3 of the above? and the ancient spirit of darkness, which was maybe possessing someone else at first or maybe embodied on its own, but got injured enough that it needed to possess someone, and went for the random civilian. It's definitely sentient, but I'm not sure how intelligent it was?

I think at first the "heroes" didn't know I was possessed? Or just didn't know what to do about it? It wasn't obvious or active at first, maybe not even to me; the Darkness was laying low, either naturally because it was injured or deliberately trying to hide.

"the void" might be a more accurate monkier - it could, and with it I could, consume people in kinda slimy shadows which either transported them to the darkness realm (where they'd slowly dissolve) or just consumed/dissolved them right there, body and soul. Antithetical to matter & existence.

But it didn't actively want to kill anyone/destroy everything. It enjoyed it, but it was also happy to just hang out in my head I think? The Darkness wasn't really characterized

There was some sort of time limit wherein we could separate it from my soul but after (?? let's say 1 week) we'd become inexorably linked forever

Interactions & plot go here? I think my dream skimmed this part of the plot, as my waking mind always does in story-building

An obvious solution would be to kill me to re-release the Darkness so the Heroes(TM) could contain it somehow, as maybe they'd been trying to do in the boss battle

Or imprison me directly, forevermore

Or some sort of way to separate me from the Darkness, but probably with high risk of killing me in the process?

OR just let me keep hanging out with it forever bc it's a cool friend in my head who only periodically fills me with a desire to destroy all life and/or physical matter...

At least 1 fight with, idk, 1 of the main bad guys here, who wasn't in the earlier boss fight or who evaded capture in it? (Goblin-y Bad Guy did get captured I think). I display consume-people-with-void powers? Introduction to the concept of the special jail for supernatural entities?

(the above 1-4 bullet points are 99% awake!me right now extrapolating what would be narratively necessary)

1 of the cat-people with the Heroes, EITHER her whole family was killed by the Darkness and she refuses to accept any option that leaves it remotely intact (as others on this side start to shift to "maybe this girl can just keep the Darkness and it'll be okay?", OR her whole family was killed by the #1 Gobliny Bad Guy but she believes so firmly that the Darkness is Dangerous that she's willing to work with him anyway...

As the deadline for splitting me from the Darkness forever nears (at which point I'd be able to access more of its powers, or it would despite this frail mortal vessel, or something?), she goes to the Monster Jail and stages a mass breakout in order to recruit them to fight to contain/destroy the Darkness, ie, me

We (me + other people in the agency?) are too late to stop her. There's not much fighting bc I scare (most of) the major threats away by threatening to Envoid them, while desperately hiding the fact that I can't actually do that on command and also I don't want to, bc I don't want to kill anyone

I deliver to everyone else - human and human-aligned heroes(tm), supernatural murderers, supernatural non-murderhobos who have been locked up under false premises just bc they're scary and maybe slipped up and ate human brains 1 time, etc - a BOMBASS lecture that starts with something like, "How many of you have heard of a being called Lucifer Morningstar" and then I proceed to tell the story of the fall of Lucifer.

It's dramatic. It's compelling. I am working ALL my storytelling and middle school summer theater camp chops, and the audience is ENTHRALLED - or at least, buying the act that I'll feed them all to the Darkness if they don't pay attention. Which achieves the same thing!

(Because this is a dream, the large atrium of the jail in which this is taking place is visually reminiscent of a standard high school/rec center multi-purpose room)

(in one of the 'watching a movie with my friends' parts, they were talking about a uquiz or tumblr poll about the best dramatic line of the movie, and there was an implication that when I gave this speech, I was making NEW lines, like, rewriting a pre-established script like some sort of isekai protagonist? this element wasn't otherwise present in the dream, but I did feel smug to deliver my own original badass speech)

I conclude with clarifying that the entity possessing me/of which I am in possession is not Lucifer, but it could be, or might as well be? (I think the internal logic of the speech fell apart here, but to be fair, even in-dream I was mostly desperately playing for time and attention).

Then I invite everyone and anyone - spread word, tell friends and enemies - to come to the anti-supernatural agency compound to move in if they need a home/have a big potluck/peace treaty negotiation/idk exactly. The timing of this coincides, naturally, with the deadline for separating the Darkness from me, so if anyone's gonna attack, it'll be then, too.

Idk what the people running the agency thought of this. I did NOT consult them in advance.

The day of: first a couple minor supernatural people show up, the sort who just wanna live in peace, maybe were neutral parties already? Then other minor randos, some from jail, some bc word did spread. Idk why so many are willing to trust this offer - maybe something I did during the bulk of the plot which the dream skipped over? I think the humans have been pretty free with the "this person isn't human and should be locked up" over the years, but maybe there's better ones, idk. Most "monsters" don't support the ones who want to end the world/kill all humans/etc. There starts to be a crowd.

Snakey villain, #2 danger, shows up relatively early and reveals that mostly he just wants to be left in peace, and if he can have that WITHOUT killing all humans first, he's fine! Let's give this a shot, as overseen by the nice young woman melded with the void!

Chrommaster tries to break in I think? Idk if he's here to kill me or just to steal stuff or what

We def had some sort of sensors/perimeter alarms/idk looking out for the particularly Big Bads, so I greeted both of the above personally. There's an alert for the Goblin but it's a false alarm? But we're pretty sure - and as an outside view, I'm VERY sure - he will show up to try to kill me and take the Darkness for himself?

AND THEN

IN THE DREAM

IT SHIFTED BACK TO ME WATCHING WITH MY FRIENDS BUT WE WERE TALKING INSTEAD OF WATCHING VERY HARD, AND THEN I WOKE UP.

I've been thinking of a SMTV AU for a while now. Gonna share this WIP of an idea because I need to let it out. (Also I was talking with someone about it a small bit)

It's about the NG+ options. Reborn and Newborn. Any normal person wouldn't think much of it besides it being a cool theme way to play a game again. But I'm NOT a normal damn person and decided to run with this very angsty idea. [Its mainly a food for thought AU] Warning though. It's not well done-

When you completed a certain route, you get a colored ball thing show up on your safe file. They're in order from light blue (Law), white (Neutral), red (Chaos) and a star like white ball (True Neutral.) No matter what route you do first, it will always show up in this order. So what this has to do with the NG+ thing is that what if this is how V-kun approached every new rebirth. That's where the NG+ thing comes in.

He finishes a Law route. I don't have a solid reason why yet but maybe he did it to become a God of Order so that he could revive his friends and shape himself into someone better. (Like he lost a lot of himself the first time. The trauma of losing your friends, the fact that they were almost alone with themselves on this besides Aogami and just the PTSD he probably has thanks to Da'at.) He wanted to be better. Beating himself up for not saving them sooner. But instead of becoming a God of Law, he gets swallowed up by this mysterious darkness(?.) Only to come back as human V-kun. But you see, the first time this happens, he doesn't realise this.

It's basically a Newborn version of V-Kun. (A very Newborn one) He basically dosen't have any kind memories. At least not at first. Around the end of Act 2 (aka Tao's death,) he again experiences this trauma. But the feeling feels familiar suddenly. He would have a few random "flashbacks" of events and stuff at first but he chalked it up to it being Aogamis broken hardware in the beginning. But after her death, he starts to question them more. Questions why these feel familiar. Why he feels like he could have changed something.

This confusion would change his path. He leaned more to Neutral. (Idk what reason again but probably because he has some trust to Nuwa [not so much Yakumo.] He maybe thought they were sensible enough?) The confusion comes up more frequently. So much that it even "distorts" his world view just a little bit. (The changes are happening...) At the throne, he destroys the throne not only for Nuwa and Yakumo, but out of a weird frustration. A hatred of these demons and angel's that took his friends away. . . . I'll have to work on how the Chaos and True Neutral paths are gonna work but that's gonna be hard to think and write some ideas about. I'll be adding on to this soon I hope! Also sorry if the writing is horrible and weird in some parts. I'm an artist not a writer 😢 (I'm also horrible at spelling)

ranking d20 seasons by how compelled i feel to do a full scale rewrite picking apart and rearranging the bones

DISCLAIMER: this list is not in order of how much i like or dislike the seasons. i also recognize that in an improv format, especially comedy-focused, people make decisions that aren’t character or theme driven. none of the cast are Wrong for any of the choices i’m going to critique here. that’s just the name of the game. HOWEVER:

1. a starstruck odyssey

ah the reason i’m making this list. aso has SO MUCH POTENTIAL LIKE THERES SO MUCH GOOD STUFF IN THERE!!!!! i just think it failed to resolve its arcs satisfyingly. @cloudmancy and @grasslandgirl (EDIT: and @lichfucker ) have made GREAT posts on norman takamori which i encourage everyone to read and burn into their brains. but also like. the stuff with barry nyne drives me insane i hated that so much </3. why did prillbus choose him. how did the king of brain slugs get in a zoo exhibit. in the wise words of sav:

AND THE ARC PLAYED SO WELL WITH SID! which, by the way, the warfare whitneys getting remade falls into the same thing of like oh ok. sid dealing with being a keeper of souls didn’t actually matter bc she’s not anymore.

there’s just this aspect of. the random factor was stressed so often and it was so cool and delightful whenever things happened to align and like. the way that it turned out oh norman and skip and barry and marge are all connected to this world ending plot in the end! just felt so against that theme bc it was very clear and obvious where the metahand of narrative was coming in. like it would have been way more engaging and impactful if the wurst really had just randomly stumbled onto saving the galaxy ESPECIALLY bc thats their whole thing! no chosen ones no saviors we are a bunch of idiot mercenaries here by accident!

also loose duke should not have been on the ship they rly beat that one to death early lol

2. misfits and magic

i love mismag with all my heart and soul but that does not mean she is safe from me !!!!! people have beaten to death the centralization of evan in the narrative so i don’t think i have to talk about that but i also think k’s arc could have been a lot smoother. i love the feral princess i think it’s like k taking this thing that’s always been pushed onto them that’s pushed onto them again (aggressive femininity, girlhood) and making it their own but i wish they’d had the time and the space to lean more into that whole thing of like. Taking magic and forming it into what I WANT it to be. Nature AND nurture AND intention bc thats the whole. that’s the season’s whole self determination thing. anyways more jammer more sam!!! would have loved to see more of jammer’s team building i want him to give everyone nicknames i want to see him struggle with his world becoming so much bigger and more complex. and seeing more of sam’s leadership and the way she goes from internet influencer to like irl influence like the scene w her teaching the kids how to mukbang was so good i want more of that. ALSO poly pilot program real

every day i think about the world where we got those four lost episodes. i don’t think it would fix everything but like acoc NEEDS more time towards the end, you can tell something is missing. honestly it’s so perfectly done for the first half and then it just kind of… falls off a tiny bit? there are moments towards the end that are fantastic but i really don’t like how it resolved. i feel like everyone and their mother has talked about liam’s wish and how rough that was (my personal favorite replacement for that choice is for a peppermint tree to grow over the spot where keradin and the pontifex are buried as a representation of the strengthening of magic in candia which might be august’s idea?) but also idk i just feel like cumulous didn’t hit as hard for me. and saccharina is the love of my life literally one of my fave characters ever but her cinnamon arc felt really rushed (which, yes, missing episodes). i just feel like after jet’s death the pacing and themes get so muddy (yes missing episodes yes i know). anyways brennan wishes he had what prince consort calroy doc and sweet religion doc have

4. mice and murder

mice and murder is SOOOO CLOSEEEE but it trips over the finish line. honestly some of it was the dice being fickle but like. there were choices. anyways i said it best when it was airing:

also i wish vicar ian had more to do. he had some killer moments but he didn’t feel as connected as the rest of the group did yknow

5. pirates of leviathan, fantasy high seasons 1 and 2, the seven aka The Spyre Spot

this is the spot in the list where i run out of specific rewrite energy but they’re not quite in the Perfect tier. honestly pirol is so good SO slept on i literally just wish it had better video quality which is no ones fault. also i wish it were longer so they had more time to get their footing! and fantasy high is classic and very good but there are still some things i would change (fabian in the nightmare forest for one! i hate how he isn’t taken seriously, acknowledgement that penelope and dayne blade were also children groomed by an ancient dragon, i think kristen’s arcs are a little clumsily done, etc). the seven is also delightful and hilarious and its themes are done beautifully but i did not think the combat was done well lol. i think brennan got some bad asks and wasn’t hard enough on saying no, and while again there were some really good moments i think it dragged more than combat normally does but that’s #justmysillyopinion

6. the unsleeping city, escape from the bloodkeep

the perfect seasons. i would not change a single thing, they achieve everything they set out to do and they do it beautifully. and hilariously!

7. shriek week, tiny heist

i liked these seasons but i don’t think there’s enough there to really dig in yknow? like i enjoyed my time but i don’t feel compelled to rewatch

8. tuc2 my beloathed

Here they are and I am grateful that my fics have gotten any attention at all.

🍓 how did you get into writing fanfiction?

So before I knew what fanfiction was, I was always writing things for myself. As a kid, I’d make Pokémon comics about jigglypuff because jigglypuff was my favorite. Then as I got older, I’d write self insert fanfiction in my diary of myself and celebrities I had crushes on. Again, didn’t know what fanfiction was at the time, I was just being horny and gay. I discovered fanfiction at 16 and never felt I could write anything people would want to read, but I’d still write little oneshots for myself privately. My old iPod touch was (and still is if I could actually charge it and unlock it) full of the most random fics in my notes app. Then my first published fic was in 2012 when I was 19, it was just expanding on a fade to black sex scene from Dark Shadows 2012. Not very good, but people were nice. Then I didn’t write again publicly until 2021 when I discovered Alcina x reader fics. I devoured a bunch of them and then an idea I hadn’t seen popped into my head that I hadn’t seen before which gave birth to my first multichapter fic. I didn’t think I’d write anymore after that, but ideas kept on coming. Although I’m slow with updates, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll probably keep writing for Alcina until I’m completely tapped out.

I probably should so I could organize my music better and not forget songs I enjoy, you’d be surprised how often that happens and then years later you’re like omg I used to love this song, how did I forget?? Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Lana Del Rey.

Hmmmm idk I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. 4?? The issue I have with editing is you start to reread your work so many times that you begin to doubt if it’s actually good because you’ve gotten so used to its contents, not thinking that your readers are seeing it for the first time and probably aren’t as critical as we are on ourselves. It’s also so easy to miss little mistakes until after you hit publish because your brain begins to gloss over them.

3)Describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic.

It depends on the story and what is happening. Usually, i type out a short summary of the whole story, decide where the best places to split it are, and write it in parts. Other times i just wing it and hope it sounds good.

4) Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

Everywhere. Other fics, poems, songs, phrases, scenes. Even items. I especially love the ones from my dreams. Inspiration is everywhere- you just have to look into the simplest things in a different way than you see them.

16) How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

This one is actually one that I got from a dream.

Cc!Grian goes on a camping trip and hikes up a mountain alone because he can't sleep. He finds a piano that turns out to be magic and he plinks it. It turns him more and more into his character each day. The next day he goes to find it and it's gone. He runs away to try and hide it but his friends file a missing report. They find him a week later alone in a cave. During that time, he get visited by watchers and is shocked bc he made them up but they're real. They try to kill him because him turning is a "glitch" but he gets away.

After they find him, grian refuses to tell them anything. He has to stay home and go to therapy bc man's traumatized. He stays with Timmy.

One night during dinner, his character takes over. Timmy panicks and calls Scott and mumbo over. Grian puffs out his wings and Jimmy realizes what's happening. They're able to calm him down and cc!grian takes back over.

They have to figure out how to save him before it's too late and he turns fully into his character.

Mumbo is doing research and finds smth about it. They have to find a real eye of ender.

They return to the spot where the piano used to be and dig to find the eye. They do, and they save him. But not without a fight first because c!grian is very argumentative.

18)Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?

After. There are exceptions, but almost always after. I think of key words and phrases from (or that describe) the story. Or I just make random stuff up that sounds cool.

20) Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Yes. Lots of melodrama, passing out, self-worth problems, and flower husbands.

Joking aside, definitely. I love it when characters pass out on their enemy and get carried. Idk why, its just funny and sets up for a lot of humiliation. I also love not-actually-unrequited-feelings. I'm not sure about what specific words/phrases, but i know that they are definitely there. Themes usually include things like live life to the fullest, appreciate what you have until its too late, and that things are never as they seem.

23) Best writing advice for other writers?

My best writing advice is be you and write what you want to write.

Admittedly, I havent updated my biggest fic i have in over 3 months. It just wasn't fun to write anymore and my motivation went *fart noise*. Yes, okay, I've gotten comments, but I'm also happy and want to write a different ship at the moment. It also helps with the feeling of being obligated to have deadlines and one-up yourself every chapter. Sure, those things are great, but you should enjoy writing and what you produce, not find it annoying and tiring.

There are other things, like grammar, POV, and formatting, but we won't go into those.

24) Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?

OOO YOU'RE ABOUT TO HEAR SOME ABSOLUTE BS

Alright, so, when I first started writing, I watched some youtube vids on stuff like good writing, plot, and stuff like that.

The lady in the video. Ugh. alright, so she ofc was hating on fanfiction, and said "It's always wiser to make your own stories and characters" or something like that. Bish, have you seen the ao3, fanfiction.net, and wattpad community??? She then went on to go and say the opposite of what i said above. That you should always listen to your readers and shiz and that you, the author, should always make them happy even if it hurts.

She also was like "don't use tags like 'yes,' bob growled' because its improper and growling is an act, not a tone of voice." No, it is actually correct writing.

She also was deprecating young authors telling them that they suck.

26) Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

Uhhh, what's your definition of wild?

A fallen angel spreads its wings, wishing to fly away- storywise can be counted as crack personally. it makes no damn sense anymore.

My superhero AU- this is going to get crazy. you have no idea. the sheer emotions and attachment i have to this one. I will make you cry.

46) How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc)

My style is both character driven and emotion driven. I have this weird thing where if I'm writing, I can like, BE the character or smth. I get to know what they would do, think, and feel, and then mix it with some of my own before it gets out of hand. It happens when reading, too.

There is a downside, such as what happens to them physically i can feel, but it makes it easier to drive the story. I give it bulletpoints of what i want to happen, and it will get it there eventually.

(I have a fun story that came with this one time, but I'll tell it at a later date)

56) What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

Yes yes yes. I pride myself on the sheer amount of ideas I get daily. I get like 2 ideas daily. Yeah, it sucks that I cant write them all, but at least i have a variety. If you ever want a story idea, I have SO MANY

73) What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

Honestly, I don't know. I feel like that is for you guys to decide.

As a reader, it's easier to pick out things and decide what is different and what is the same. When writing, I criticize myself so much, like "thats basic" or "thats repetitive". Yet people still read it, so I must be doing something right.

74) You’ve posted a fic anonymously. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?

My writing style, themes, ships, and overdramatic feelings.

My style is kind of a mix of rambling and story telling. Also the question from earlier about key words, phrases, and stuff like that describes it all. I love amplifying feelings, and of course, making my characters go through hell and then dragging them back out.
