I really like the idea that for the first few months of them hanging out post-HoO, Will had no idea Nico had stayed at CHB before. He was under the impression that Nico was more or less new to camp, since he had been a rogue demigod, and that he had just been an ally of CHB up until that point who had been to the camp but had never been a camper. The entire time Will just assumed he was the senior camper between the two of them, not knowing Nico had actually joined camp almost a whole two years prior to him and was instead returning.
Nico eventually realizes Will’s misconception and tries to explain it, but Will thinks Nico is messing with him until Nico explains the crack in the dining pavilion (which no one at camp besides Percy knows the origins of, save for maybe Annabeth, Grover, and Chiron) was from him the night he ran away (and maybe also shows Will his camp beads to further prove he’s not making it up, depending on if you believe he has one from BoTL or not). Will then gets to have the fun little journey of recontextualizing everything he knows about Nico.

I think 'cringe culture' is the next one that needs to be put up on the high shelf so people can't reach it. It's lost almost all it's intended meaning to me when people say 'cringe culture is dead' now because people use that deflect any criticism of poor behavior/bad faith takes. It's become not about, 'I like what I like, who cares!', or 'my blog, I post what I want!' and more about people expecting not only that their niche head-cannons will be respected, but that they will be validated and adopted by everyone in a ~fandom~, including creators and actors.
It's become an excuse to linger around in a fandom you've grown to dislike it and to spew negativity because, 'cringe culture is dead so I can rage about my ship not going cannon'. Because no one seems to understand anymore that they can walk away from a story at any time if it no longer makes them happy. Or even that their specific ideas for where a story should go are not necessarily even good, or the story the creators wanted to tell.
It's become a weird shield for people to wield when they are told that maybe, possibly, they may need to take a step back and log off and that it's not that deep. Cringe culture is dead so it's okay to be absolutely unhinged about something, even as a full-grown adult. There is no line between healthy enjoyment and unhinged obsession anymore cause 'cringe culture is dead!'
I think it's also fed into the whole belief that 'cannon doesn't actually matter do whatever you want!' crowd which, again, devolves into demanding that certain niche head-cannons or fannon takes are more important than cannon and people thinking it's okay and even correct to bitch at creators and/or actors.

ill admit it. i was reading some beatles fics last night and this morning. but GEEZ there are so few ones that are ringo-centric and/or just john & paul & george & ringo. LIKEEEE not interested in ship fics give me fun oneshots about them causing Chaos. or even BETTER YET give me fics set in one of their MOVIES so it's not rpf (is a fic about a rpf movie also rpf?)

decided to rewatch oli's christmas song stream from last year and remind me again why the fuck oli/sausage is a rarepair again. he sings no less than five romantic songs about sausage (admittedly two of those are just different versions of santa, baby). one of them is him and sausage singing baby it's cold outside together. oli literally left heaven to find this man. what. what am i seeing that everyone else isn't hello.

I'm all in favour of fat positivity and if be lying if I said I didn't have a penchant for larger men but I'm getting a bit annoyed with this thing I keep seeing online lately about the term "bear". Because on Reddit and Tumblr I've seen multiple posts and people in the last couple of years reiterating that bear specifically means fat men, that it was created by and for fat men, about how a broader guy with hair who isn't overweight isn't a bear and it's frankly an offensive misuse of the term.
Except that's bollocks? The term was coined and codified in the 1980s and meant basically "hairy, beer drinker, kinda macho, probably stockier build".
Go look up covers from old issues of Bear Magazine, which is more or less as old as the term itself. It was never about being fat, it was about the hair.
