Saw a post about jason and OP wrote something in the tags about the transgender experience of being mourned while you’re alive. I’m not all good with my words the way you are (do you write poetry or anything btw?? you really have a way with words) but it really hit me that that’s why Jason is a character I, and a lot of other people relate to. People wishing that you could just go back to the way you were when you were younger, when its not your fault you’re different than how you used to be, it’s just so heart-wrenching!!!

Oh, I think I know exactly which post you mean!

For me, as an nb, that part of Jason's character, which lends itself to being a parallel to the experience of being transgender and coming out a transgender, is really big. But really it's like you said anon, a lot of people can relate for different reasons to the experience of being alienated from your former self. Wondering if things would have been better, if YOU would have been better or perhaps happier if you had been allowed to develop into the person that younger self could have become. If only, if only.

Jason, I think, is never ashamed to grieve himself, which is something that was difficult for me to come to terms with myself, allowing myself to grieve for a younger self and not demean these feelings by labelling them as wallowing in self-pity. You are retroactively giving your experience of pain the respect you wish another adult in your life had given it. That's an important part of healing, coming back to the younger self within you with the strength you have today and giving them utterly unashamed and complete empathy. I recommend that everyone try to throw off lingering senses of shame and internalized victim-blaming they have, you deserve acceptance of your own pain.

Regarding specifically the transgender/gender-queerness parallel of Jason, to me it's partially in the fact that his vicitmization and fridging is very female-coded and other parts of his character also play with gender, like his rage, his fighting style, his ostrasization, etc. But with the dying and coming back to life it's very relatable in the experience of people grieving you while you are right before them. Almost wishing yourself you could just turn back time and be less complicated and more accepted again. It's about seeing your siblings, cousins or peers being more accepted than you are for reasons that are out of your control, but are framed as if the issue was that you just have to be on better behaviour. It's also about the change in your body and I think to some gender-queer people with dysphoria it's also a bit of a powerfantasy like, yeah dunk me in the lazarus pit and make me become the 6foot, wall-of-muscle man that I know I am on the inside.

and finally thank you for the compliment anon! I do have a passion for language, writing an art. I write poems sometimes actually but I don't think they're of that level to be shared on tumblr. And I try to write fanfics but almost never finish. I also hope to one day publish at least one book.

going into this weirdly deep dive on a topic i only just learned about but not in a fun way: the transautistic community, NOT to be confused with the trans autistic community.

TW: transmisogyny, transphobia, and ableism / autiphobia.

i saw a lot of discussion (and rightful outrage) about this identity in autistic tags, which, for the unaware, is basically “i’m not autistic but i want to be autistic”. that’s the “transautistic identity”, and a lot of autistic people were pushing back on this, both as being ableist and as transphobic (i should note that in the carrd and main ‘positivity’ account for the “identity”, they do specifically say that it is not a gender nor is it people identifying AS autistic, just as someone who wants to be. this clarification will be relevant later)

and, objectively, it is both those things. it certainly is transphobic to compare being trans and wanting a disorder you don’t have, and it certainly is ableist to say you want to be autistic when you’re allistic (and frankly, it’s just weird). but as i was looking through the tag, i couldn’t help but wonder if maybe, the absurdity was intentional. i read their carrd and to me, at least, it doesn’t seem like just a random troll saying offensive shit for the sake of being offensive; the language is so concise it doesn’t feel like the brand of ‘humor’ some troll type would use in a post like that. i feel it would be more extreme. still, it’s objectively deeply offensive- but i was left with the question as to whether it was maybe offensive on purpose.

it’s not uncommon for right-leaning people to make up identities, particularly LGBTQ or ND identities and PARTICULARLY trans/nonbinary identities, to try and make the community and the left at large look ridiculous to moderates, and radicalize them against us. eg: attack helicopter jokes, “did you just assume my gender?” jokes, etc. so as i was reading this, i kept asking myself, ‘is that what this is?’ and when i searched the term on twitter, i DID see a terf (and an allistic terf, at that) tweet a screenshot of the carrd. but most of the other tweets in the search were people like me, reacting to it, many of whom were trans and nb etc and almost all of whom were autistic.

the biggest argument against the idea that this is an intentional transphobic attempt to make trans identities seem absurd was what i mentioned earlier about how the transautistic-positivity blog seemed to go out of their way over to state multiple times that this ISN’T a gender identity, nor is it a neurological equivalent to being trans; these people, if real, don’t think they’re born with the wrong neurotype, they just like… fetishize their perception of autistic life. whereas i would imagine a transphobic/terf attempt at parody would continually insist that it IS the same as being trans and that them wanting to be autistic DOES make them autistic, right? like wouldn’t that fit the whole “attack helicopter” caricature they like to paint better?

also, frankly, almost 0 able bodied allistic people care about autistic issues like, at all. even among leftists. so making a “parody” identity with the intention of inflaming anti-trans sentiment but using autism to do it is… weird, and would likely not have that much effect outside of the autistic community (and a HUGE amount of the online autistic community is trans or nonbinary so like even if we’re all condemning this identity, it would likely not be very successful at igniting outrage at the intended targets, if that was the intention). and terfs have used anti-autistic arguments before, saying that the reason so many autistic people are lgbt and trans specifically is because of our naturally feeling alienated by our peers, and that that feeling is being “preyed on” to get us to “join the cult” (this is actual verbiage i have seen used on twitter by terfs, btw). so they would KNOW there’s a large overlap between the communities, so this probably wouldn’t be that successful at their goal, which makes me wonder what would actually motivate anybody to spend this much time making this shit up.

and so, i am left wondering still. i think this identity, if real, is abhorrent- but i’m hesitant to make sweeping statements about it because again, i’m not sure any real people are actually identifying as this. i’m curious to hear others thoughts. do we think this is a transphobic straw man, or a genuine identity drenched in ableism??? either way it’s awful but i think it’s important to keep in mind that it COULD be either… and to not let either hateful rhetoric spread!

If you just want art it’s better to follow my art blogs. Most of my art gets posted here either first or afterwards but it’s never as organized or well tagged because I feel sort of scared to tag what I judge to be bad or mediocre art, even though I’ve been trying to get better about this for the sake of not relying on mutuals to boost. in general I am bad about tagging. If you need content specifically tagged so you can block it and I don’t know you well it’s honestly just safer not to follow bc whether or not I tag depends on if I’m scrolling with intent (not likely) or just tossing out 10 posts in a row unthinkingly (usually the case)

I do like to reblog like psychedelic horror and things that might be uncanny or upsetting to certain people (blood. Insects etc) if these in particular bother you that goes double for the “probability shouldn’t follow.”

in terms of fandom a lot of people I follow are in Fate/ so that’s a lot of what gets posted but I like and will post a lot of other stuff. A lot of the fandoms I interact with have pretty problematic elements or aspects. Believe it or not I do complain about this occasionally but not constantly so if you feel the need to inform me like. I’m aware, and I probably have talked about it at several points

The content I post generally isn’t nsfw but I want to keep the blog 20+ because I just don’t need unaccounted for minors following me. It’s fine if you reblog posts from me and I won’t necessarily block you just for being a minor I just don’t want to garner a following of mostly people half my age. I realize I’m one of the few oldheads left from the OG sick sad website but it’s my nest I laid my eggs here I have lots of friends here. My old blog is void-official btw it’s not abandoned outright but it’s not attached to this one either so you won’t see me use it much anymore. If we were mutuals there and I didn’t Refollow you here it’s probably either because you didn’t post much or were someone I barely talked to and mostly posted content I don’t vibe with, not because I hate you. I had that blog for like 10 years I needed a fresh start.

I will block people at my discretion. I’m not going to list out all my morals and reasons here bc most of those people won’t bother with me in the first place. In general I only block people who repeatedly badgered me or hurt me personally. Otherwise I’m pretty friendly. my DMs are open even to non followers. Just be reasonable. don’t use my ask box like DMs I will not publish them, if you have questions or anything I promise talking to me directly won’t hurt you, and don’t be creepy or weird if I don’t respond to you right away, because then I Will block you

Lastly. I have issues pertaining to mental and physical health which I talk about in more detail occasionally but try to keep vague since it’s really not anyones business if they don’t know me well, just as a precursor if my emotions seem all over the place sometimes. Again I’m open about that as the need arises, I often make a warning if I’m having some sort of relapse and feel aggitated or paranoid but if you aren’t affected by it then there’s no reason to display it publicly. I should be good most of the time, I have a decent grasp of what I need to do to regulate myself, but it’s worth noting.
