Flourine Uranium Nitrogen Potassium and Ytterbium without the B
it's been a hot minute 🤩🤩 hello again
character: albedo warnings: swearing summary: albedo hates your guts 🤬🤬 frigg ur volcano
albedo isn't fond of you.
he doesn't like your smile. he doesn't like your friends. he doesn't like you. he isn't fond of you at all. to be frank, he hates your guts.
and why?
simple: you beat him at the grade three science fair with your lousy volcano experiment. how did your lame volcano come first place when he had the full theoretical study on space and life around? he doesn't know. perhaps the teacher thought he copy pasted it off from wikepedia (maybe)
but he can't get rid of you unlike many other things in life. you're a pest. 'a menace to the study of science,' he likes to say with a little scoff while strapping on goggles to his face.
he hates how you're now sitting next to him in chemistry class.
he stares at the ticking clock, filtering out the lecture from his ears. he already knows the material. so he draws. the mechanical pencil glides across the blank papers made for notes, creating small inventions in his head.
a time travel machine would be cool to make, no?
he crosses out the multiple ideas of possible chemical compounds that could work for his silly little idea.
"psst," an annoying voice whispered.
"PSSSST," it whispered loudly.
albedo physically stopped himself from rolling his eyes, "what?"
"what did the teacher just say? i didnt get it..."
"he said that according to alexander hamilton, there is no way a bee should be able to fly."
and that was that. he didn't respond to your pestering anymore and focused on his own "notes".
albedo almost left the campus without his notebook. he scurried back to his classroom, practically running. he almost shaved his hair off when he saw his desk, and on his desk was his notebook with a bright green sticky note stuck on it.
"you're a bitch <333333 sincerely, your one and only" it said with an excessive amount of hearts drawn everywhere. he massaged the temple of his head and ripped the note off. he definitely knew who the note was from.
he took his note pad and pulled a paper out and drew an unflattering picture and left a few words. he folded it into a paper crane and left it on your desk.
you arrived to your chem early to make up for a lab project you missed last week. to your pleasant surprise, a small oragami rested on your table. a gift perhaps? you picked it up and played around with it. you wanted to make your own oragami and learn from how this person made it. you unfolded it carefully, and slowly see pencil scratched covering the crane. you grew curious and unveiled the picture.
it was a drawing of someone throwing the middle finger to you.
"to the person who sent me the lovely note yesterday, Flourine Uranium Carbon and Potassium. Space. Uranium. :)"
when you got the symbols of the elements you clench your fists. it's on.
with every crane that albedo sent back to his lovely penpal, albedo's bag was now full of bright green stickies. he didnt have to motivation to throw any away. the little note passing became habitual to the point where he wondered if you were okay when he had no sticky note.
"you like them."
"i beg your pardon?" albedo stared down at kaeya indifferently. his pen never left the paper.
kaeya lazily positioned himself on the bench next to albedo, droning on reasons why albedo likes his proclaimed nemesis. "you hate them, but make an effort to send them notes back?"
"it's all telling them to piss off."
kaeya smiled sweetly, but albedo knew it was sarcastic. "your face goes all swoony when you receive one. your cousin told me."
"and you're going to believe klee?" albedo raised a brow.
"klee never lies."
"kaeya, she's... ten or something."
"klee never lies," he holds on to the statement.
albedo raised a hand and furrowed his brows, "wait, wait, wait. how do you even know klee?"
his friend toyed with a gold coin and laughed, "wow you really don't care about me huh, bedo? i told you a month ago! you were too busy sending your hate letters back." kaeya muttered the last part.
"well then? how do you know her?"
the flashy blue haired man yawned, "im her ballet instructor, remember?"
albedo went back to drawing. "right. i keep forgetting. i still have not a clue how you made it to internationals with that lousy posture of yours."
"my posture is great if i want it to be," kaeya defends himself. there was a lull after he stopped speaking. he observed the people around him. some run in the park playing frisbee; some sat on blankets, eating from a basket; some painting on an easel, capturing the life of the people in the park.
kaeya did a double take at the painter. they looked familiar. slyly, he whistled out, sounding uncaring, "hey, isn't that your chem buddy you hate."
albedo's head snapped up. his eyes fixated on the painter. his face broke into a tiny smile.
"IS THAT A SMILE?" kaeya shoved himself in front of albedo's face. he pinched his cheeks and laughed, "you're in love oh my gfhodsddshfhdfsdsffdsf!!"
albedo's face turned into a blank slate again. he shoved kaeya off and went back to sketching.
"look, you're even sketching them." kaeya added with a smug grin.
to albedo's horror, kaeya was being truthful. each feature on your face was presice on the sketch.
albedo shook his head and flipped to the next page on his sketch book. no way he likes you. he hates you, and will always hate you.
he turned back to the sketch of you and bit the bottom of his lip.
well shit.
maybe he does like you.

Hi!
Hope you are fine :)
So... i cant stop thinking about yan!Albedo creating his own darling. He is just so lonley and in need for love... so why not just make the perfect person himself by using alchemy? After a long time of research and work his dream comes true, his love comes alive. Albedo is so happy! Finally, someone just for himself.
But darling falls in love with someone else. Walking through Mondstadt they saw someone (Diluc, Kaeya idk) and their heart just skipped a beat. Poor Albedo can't stop himself from losing his mind completly
Hi! Thanks for chiming in! I love this concept ♥
Perhaps he just got curious about how to create a homunculus, putting himself on the same path as his own creator to explore a very different area of alchemy and get some answers to questions he has about himself and his late brother, especially after the traitor incident. He didn’t intend to get too attached, partly because Albedo thought he couldn’t possibly get attached to something that was like him, bare of emotions at the beginning even. But he kept trying, and eventually - finally! - you came to life. A little lost, a little cold, relying on him to stand and feed you, and though it’s such a strange situation, Albedo is up for the challenge of raising you properly. There really isn’t anyone who could do it better than him anyway, and through you, he’ll be able to answer the questions he has.
The time spent on Dragonspine becomes less lonely and cold quickly with another person at his side. He rarely experienced these emotions before, but now that you are always there, they can finally reach him. Everything gets a little better with a comment from you, and his experiments continue to thrive with another pair of eyes to watch them. You’re curious, but you learn quickly at the same time, and Albedo catches your interest with what he does. Suddenly you want to try your own experiments, and after one or two, he has taught you enough for you to make the proper deductions and eagerly work on your own. Albedo suddenly finds him interested in your projects more than his own, but since it’s all helping his bigger plan, it suits him well. He doesn’t realize that at the point that you are now, his creator left him instead of staying, which might just be Albedo’s biggest mistake.
You two work and stick together as if you had never been separated. He cooks, and you bring him a blanket when he’s reading so he can stay warm. Albedo always brings back enough paint for you two to draw together from his trips down the mountain, and you keep the cave warm and his experiments running while he’s gone. The conversations you two have are much more meaningful than he could have ever imagined, wondering how he managed to get by on his own for so long without someone to actually bounce ideas back and forth the way only you can do with him. Maybe he really has been lonely until now; perhaps he’s only now learning about all the other things that make life worthwhile.
Suddenly he catches himself sketching you even when you are not around. He constantly checks your records to see if he can add to your experiments, unable to help himself from glorifying how well you are doing in his field of expertise. It truly makes him proud of what he created, all the failures absolutely worth this result. He doesn’t label it as such, but the love he feels for you burns stronger every day as you enhance his time in Teyvat so much more with your presence. He can’t help falling for you every day, caring so much and very openly about you aside from you being his experiment too. Sometimes, he lays down next to you to rest despite claiming he’d be up all night. But the sight of you peacefully sleeping is one he wants to be imprinted in his memory for all eternity. You are his perfect darling, the only one suited enough to be the center of his attention whenever he isn’t putting his head in his work. The only person Albedo would want to take with him no matter where time leads him, and the only one to be by his side forever.
Albedo only took you to Mondstadt a few times. Enough so you could find the way on your own if needed and to introduce you to who is important to know. Not everyone needs to know about a second, potentially dangerous homunculus, so the fewer people know, the better. The change of seasons and the many, many people fascinated you, and you are much more willing to mingle with others. It’s cute, you, an artificial being, so happy to be with the humans. And they like you too, so Albedo feels safe with you going as you please. But lately, your trips have become more frequent, and you stay away much longer, your experiments waiting impatiently for you—and even more so, Albedo.
He taught you enough self-defense to not have to worry about you running into trouble. Still, one afternoon as he is waiting for you to come back finally, he simply can’t shake the ominous feeling that something is wrong. No one ever saw him hurry down the mountain, ignore everyone he meets, but most just shrug and move on. He was always a bit eccentric, after all. It’s already late when he finally makes it to Mondstadt, and there you are, laughing and chatting with someone Albedo doesn’t know. Someone you are holding hands with. Blushing.
Anyone with eyes can see that this isn’t just fun between friends, and Albedo feels his own body scream in pain at him, not knowing what is happening with himself. Until then, he was so sure that he and you were special. That he was everything you could ever want, just as much as you were to him. Albedo supported you every step of the way to become who you were now, with a free mind and living a good life by his side. He never considered that you wouldn’t choose him.
Heartbroken, he can’t find it in him to approach you, only feeling sick to the stomach as he witnesses your first, awkward kiss. The sight is too much, burning into his mind and completely shutting down everything his thoughts are usually filled with. If he had a pen and paper, the only thing he could draw was the kiss that wasn’t with him, a first that he didn’t experience together with you despite there being no one better than each other for you two. He never wanted to experience these things before, but now that you came into his life, he wants them all. And Albedo wants them with you just as much as he wants all of yours.
The only thing certain is that you will return to Dragonspine. He knows that. You’d never not come back all of a sudden, abandon all you left behind to meet your lover. Albedo taught you to be proper and well-mannered, so even if he had to limb back to Dragonspine by himself, for now, clutching his chest from the pain, you’d come back to him. Maybe he could talk sense into you, make you understand his feelings and your feelings. All you ever knew was because of him; Albedo taught you everything. So, he would tell you what you apparently needed to hear to understand because, just like him, you weren’t aware of all the feelings you must have for Albedo. Somewhere deep inside of you, you loved him, for sure. Because if not... He created you, and he could end you just as well.
There is always another chance to try again with experiments.

“i still have a lot to do at the guild, how about you take a rest while I go back ?” - diluc ragnivindr ( in-game voicelines )
Visiting Albedo was practically a hobby of yours at this point. As a long-time friend of the genius alchemist, you had decided his icy home in Dragonspine had to be lonely when only a mere few would muster up the guts to enter.
It wasn’t a problem with Albedo specifically, just the location he had chosen to make his experimental grounds. The low temperatures in Dragonspine already warded away most adventurers, but surprisingly Albedo had chosen that desolate place to become his man-cave, if you could even call the bones of an old beast and danger-filled mountains that.
He had found a certain exquisite beauty in the freezing cold climate, sketching icy flowers whilst the chilling breeze was numbing his face. Knowing Albedo, he had probably already gotten used to it and had made a potion to warm himself up to boot.
Knowing the lonesome man was probably up in the mountains with his beautiful Geo flowers, you had decided it was time to visit, and bring some warm food for him.
The temperatures in Dragonspine were unsettlingly low, so bringing a Pyro-vision wielder along with you was most likely the safest option when traversing those rigid peaks.
Unfortunately, it didn’t seem right for you to ask of Bennett’s assistance every time you were to go. He loved a good adventure, and strived to explore the entirety of Dragonspine with you, but only last week he had come home, staggering up to Katheryne at the Adventurer’s Guild all banged up. You would see Fischl eyeing you sometimes when the two of you passed along the streets of Mondstat as well, and it just didn’t sit right with you if you were putting the young adventurer in danger.
To be fair, you had somehow come out of each and every wreckage with Benny unscathed, and with Benny all beat up, but it was most likely his horrible luck. Most likely.
Regardless, it wasn’t like you were about to ask for the help of Klee. She’d probably run to the Yetis first thing. Although, bringing her to visit her big brother wouldn’t be a bad decision. Alas, that would have to be left for another adventure.
Who else to ask of in Mondstat for assistance travelling through the icy blizzards of Dragonspine? Of course, you were able to convince your loving boyfriend to go with you.
When you had told Diluc you wanted him to go with you to meet Albedo instead of Bennett, he didn’t give much of a visual reaction, but you could sense that he was probably quite excited. You had never actually asked him to go on a trip with you even though you had been together for a few months. And how wonderful the months you had together were.
The day of the trip, you had waited for him at the Angel’s Share, swinging your legs at the bar table. Your boyfriend was a successful bar owner after all. And a bewilderingly dazzling one at that.
“Would you like an Apple Cider, Y/N? The traveler stopped by and purchased one earlier, but there’s still another in stock. It’s on the house, of course.” Charles offered, wiping the counter with an orange towel.
“Charles, you really need to stop spoiling me with drinks because I’m dating your boss.” You said, laughing.
“Doesn’t that mean I have even more of an incentive to do it now?”
Just then, Diluc strode into the bar, Wolf’s Gravestone heaved over his shoulder. He headed towards you with an expressionless face, but you could see the corners of his eyes softening when he saw you waiting for him.
“Good afternoon, Charles. I’m here to pick up my lover.” He announced, stoic as ever.
“Have a nice time then, to the both of you! Safe travels.” Charles said, bidding us farewell as we headed on the way to the dragon’s final resting place.
The two of you walked along the overgrown path, chatting about the tiniest of things, and you could see that Diluc was smiling just the smallest bit. He rarely tore down his blank mask, but when he did, it was only during times when you were the sole person that could see him. To you, his smile was sacred, and the one thing you would have over any person in Teyvat and beyond. That besides his heart and undying devotion.
But of course, that part of it was mostly already implied.
Waving at the team of adventurers camped out beside the frost-coated bridge, you carefully stepped between the broken planks with Diluc’s hand in yours.
“Be careful, if you fall into the water you’ll get too cold. You of all people must know how Dragonspine is.” He mumbled, his brows creased.
You chuckled, slowly hiking up the steep mountain path. You were admiring the scenery around you, the snow falling gracefully from the sky as you trekked up the marked path through the centre of the mountainous area. You felt a tug from the hand intertwined in yours.
Diluc pulled you behind a rock as he poked his head from the side, surveying a group of what looked like members of the Fatui that were positioned by a small camp on the side of the path. His mouth curved into a snarl as he watched the overly dressed Fatui holding their weapons menacingly.
“Stay here.” He whispered gently, pulling the hood of your coat over your head.
He hefted his black claymore, the crimson lining evident against the cascading snowflakes. As he dragged the huge weapon along the ground, the Fatui looked towards him, unsheathing their respective weapons. With two guns aimed at his head, Diluc simply brushed a hand through his hair and charged.
Wolf’s Gravestone sparking, fire ignited along the blade as it collided with the side of the Electrohammer Vanguard. They were thrusted backwards as a result of the overload, their hammer dropping to their side as they raised the weapon once more, slamming down onto the ground that Diluc had just stood on. Your boyfriend dodged the bullets from the Pyroslinger Bracer and the attacks from the hammer swiftly, getting a small distance away as he hefted the claymore over his shoulder once more.
The weapon burst into flames, and he thrust it forward as a great Phoenix rushed forward, trampling over the Fatui enemies. The Electrohammer Vanguard crumbled to dust before your eyes, their body disintegrating into blue and yellow.
Diluc walked back towards you, grasping your hand in his as he lifted you up onto your feet from your sitting position behind the rock.
“The Pyroslinger Bracer got away, must’ve been because of Pyro resistance.” He muttered.
“Diluc, we don’t have to go hostile on them. It’s fine if we let them go.” You scolded, hitting him on the arm lightly.
“I just didn’t want them to hurt you.” He mumbled, looking away.
You laughed, placing your cold palms on his cheeks, squeezing. He smiled gently, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into him.
“You really are adorable when you’re all soft. But seriously, the Fatui aren’t as bad as they’re made out to be. I had a talk with Childe the last time I visited Liyue with the traveler. He’s not all that evil, just flirty and mischievous.” You comforted your boyfriend, nuzzling into him.
“What do you mean by the Harbinger being flirty?” He asked, his lips curving into a frown.
“I mean he’s a flirt. The first time we met, he said ‘Hey cutie, hold still’. It was a little hilarious, but there are relatively good people in the Fatui.” You explained.
The wind picked up, snow glazing over your view. You looked towards the sky, and the grey emptiness only responded with darker clouds and harsher winds. Diluc opened up his black coat, tucking you under what he could as the two of you continued your journey into the mountains.
“A blizzard is approaching. We need to get to shelter, and fast.” Diluc quickly explained, grabbing a hold of your hand and dragging you towards the nearest cave.
As barrels of snow plummeted towards the ground, the cold made you shiver down to the bone. The storm itself was grappling with your clothing as you struggled to walk forward. How much longer would it be? Your body couldn’t handle the cold for too long, hypothermia wasn’t an uncommon occurrence for wanderers in Dragonspine. Diluc only grasped your hand tighter, and you continued to make your way towards the small opening in the rock face.
Once you had ducked your head and entered the small cave, Diluc pulled out some sticks from his coat and proceeded to use his elemental skill to light up the small campfire he had created. You huddled close, rubbing your hands for warmth. It wasn’t a lot, seeing as the opening in the rock was just that. The cave was about as small as a cave could be. There wasn’t really a back area you could lay in and shield yourself from the cold. It seemed as though the storm could blow out the fire instantaneously.
“Are you alright?” Diluc asked, seemingly concerned as his fingers ghosted the skin of your cheek.
“It’s just really cold.” You stammered, trying to keep the cold air from entering your mouth.
Your teeth chattered, and you were sure that Diluc could hear it too. The subtle noise was invading your brain, and you couldn’t do much about it. The small fire just wasn’t enough to keep you toasty. Diluc didn’t seem to know what to do with himself. He was leaning against the rock face, keeping his eyes on you.
You curled up into a small ball on the rocky floor of the cave. Wrapping your arms around yourself and keeping the body heat was the best option you could go for, other than setting yourself on fire. But Diluc definitely wouldn’t stand for that. As time passed, the blizzard that had you trapped only got worse. Was there anyone that could save you? It wasn’t safe to leave the cave.
Without realizing it, Diluc had crouched down next to you, placing his large coat over you. His brows were creased, but his face was still stoic as ever. It was Diluc’s way of saying he cared. He gingerly wrapped his arms around you, as if trying to shield you from the blizzard raging only mere feet away.
“I’m almost out of energy particles, and there aren’t any enemies out here in this storm. I won’t be able to light another flame.” He confessed, sighing as he looked out towards the bleak spread of white.
He squeezed you tightly, but you could barely feel it from the numbness of the cold. Maybe it was because of Diluc’s pyro vision that he could last so long in the barraging snow. How could you even begin to do that?
Struggling in that state was futile, the air only getting thinner and thinner as the cold got harsher and harsher. You closed your eyes for a moment, and let yourself have a brief respite. Diluc’s guttural shout could be heard, from someplace far away, as red flashed so bright you could see the glow behind your closed eyelids.
And for just a while after, it was dark.
You opened your eyes once more to a rocky ceiling, and an incessant noise, the scribbling of a pencil on paper. You gazed to your left to see the chalk prince in all his glory, sketching mindlessly. You quickly recalled the events of what happened previously, and you carefully sat up.
“You need your rest, Y/N. Your body temperature is below what it should be. Besides, I haven’t yet completed my drawing.” He said, continuing his art piece.
“Y/N?”
You turned to see Diluc, who immediately leapt forward and encased you in his arms. You sighed, snuggling into him as you felt the warmth radiating off his body.
“He sent a Phoenix to my laboratory, nearly singed Timaeus’ eyebrows off. If given the chance, I’d like to study it. It’s not exactly a familiar, nor a beast. Although, I’d have to run some tests first to be sure.” Albedo muttered, tilting his drawing towards you, which displayed a great Phoenix, much similar to Diluc’s elemental burst.
“The food! What happened to our food?” You realized, looking around the floor for any sign of your rucksack.
“Timaeus, Sucrose and I were able to find you two in the cave. Unfortunately, the food was not a fortunate as the two of you. It’s been taken in, don’t you worry.” He said, smiling gently.
You let out a sigh, flopping back down onto the bed Albedo had prepared for you, with Diluc in tow. Diluc lightly pressed a kiss to your temple, hugging you even tighter and burying his face in the crook of your neck. You chuckled, leaning into him as you peppered his neck in small kisses. Gentle ones, that left your face burning at the heat of his skin. You could feel his heart beating in the veins below your lips.
“Unfortunately, I don’t really do many biological experiments or observations of the human sort, so you two can have the laboratory to yourselves. Please get rid of the samples as well, I won’t need them for my tests any time soon.” Albedo said, his cheeks slightly red as he watched you and Diluc, leaving the cave with his sketchbook, presumably to meet up with Timaeus and Sucrose.
“Did he just—”
“He’s definitely got the wrong idea.” Diluc huffed, his face flushed, as he pulled away from you.
He picked you up, carrying you bridal style as he lowered you both next to the nearby fire. You leaned your head against his, and he wrapped an arm around you gingerly.
The wholesome moment by the fireside could only be described as incredibly heart-warming, as the fire gently cracked, and Diluc leaned in to press a kiss to your lips.

»’cause you’re so lovely, you’re so lovely, i can’t help but fall for you, love when you love me, it’s so lovely loving you
When Aether awoke, he was all alone.
He opened his eyes in a sleepy daze, and as his hand reached out to his left, he found the crumbled sleeping roll empty and cold. Immediately, he startled fully awake as if struck by lightning, his mind clearing from sleep and dreams that tasted like ashes on his tongue.
“Lumine?” he said out loud—the first name he remembered ever speaking, and the last he wanted to be his dying breath. But when usually his sister would come to his aid, trained to respond to the sound of his voice from childhood, to rise from bed when Aether cried, to run to help him when he fell down, now he was all alone inside the tiny tent.
    No. Not quite alone.
It’s his first day in Teyvat all over again after he’d regained consciousness and called out for her, and had found Paimon in her stead, drifting in the ocean stretching before Starsnatch Cliff. Now, her little snores filled the suffocating quiet and coated his throbbing heart in a soothing balm labelled companionship.
Aether thought that with time, missing Lumine would become easier to bear. That he’d simply grow dull and time numbed his feelings. Clearly, he was wrong, and Father Time was not that kind.
He crawled outside the tent, quietly so he wouldn’t disturb Paimon, and emerged into the early sunlight winking through the tree crowns. Their little campfire from yesterday night had lost its battle and died hours ago, and Aether shuddered when a light breeze stirred its ashes into the air.
That was when he spotted Albedo sitting at the top of a slope. He hadn’t noticed Aether waking up, his eyes fixed on the horizon where clouds had gathered in the east, and the rising sun lit them in brilliant shades of reds and corals and violets. His hand, holding a fine brush, danced across a canvas, trying to capture that ephemeral beauty with lithe fingers Aether knew were capable of much more than painting. His chest tightened when he thought of yesterday night. Their quiet voices and hushed whispers as they tried not to wake up Paimon even though all Aether had wanted to do was scream Albedo’s name when he finally came as Albedo’s rough thumb had grazed the tip of his member. Thankfully, Albedo was kind enough to swallow all of Aether’s moans and gasps, leaving his mind completely fogged and drunk on his kisses.
Aether tried not to think too much of it as he went up the slope where Albedo sat, overlooking the vast valley stretching out under them.
“Why didn’t you wake me up?” Aether asked. He stretched in the morning’s light, delighted by the early warmth and slight breeze on his skin. “I wanted to see the sunrise with you.”
Albedo’s eyes drew lazily from his canvas to Aether’s waist, watching how his shirt rode up and revealed more of his skin without allowing his hand to stop once as the brush mixed reds and blues. “I tried. But you just drooled.”
    “That’s a lie.”
A smile crept up Albedo’s face. “True. But you looked too lovely to wake up. Like you had a good dream,” he said so seriously, Aether felt heat rise to his cheeks. His arms dropped back to his side. He couldn’t handle Albedo’s honesty first thing in the morning.
Albedo rose an eyebrow. “Am I wrong?”
Aether did have a dream. A dream about Mondstadt’s Windblume Festival where all his friends had gathered around a table in Angel’s Share, and in the centre, like the sun holding its own universe, sat Lumine, beaming at him.
“Happy birthday, brother,” she’d said, intertwining their fingers just like on the day they were born.
“Happy birthday, sister,” he’d said, touching his forehead to hers just like during their days spent inside their mother’s womb.
How much he longed to be with her again.
Aether exhaled. He hadn’t realised he’d been holding his breath until that moment. Albedo must have heard him, for he raised his head and his gaze met Aether’s, and he wondered how much of the endless black hole that his grief cut into his heart Albedo could see.
The corner of his mouth pulled up into a rueful smile. “No, you’re right,” Aether said. “I had a dream. A good dream, indeed.”
Albedo stopped painting. His eyes were the colour of the ocean after a storm, clear and bright and deep enough for Aether to drown in them. He wanted it. Aether wanted to be swallowed whole. Become tiny, pocket-sized, perfectly fitting in Albedos’ palm and be devoured. Be completely consumed until nothing was left, and all of him belonged to Albedo only. What a wonderful mess that would be.
Quickly turning his eyes away before he dropped to his knees and begged Albedo to take him right here and now in the open, Aether tried to douse his desire by gazing out at the sublime scenery. A flock of birds took flight from a nearby tree, their song echoing through the valley. Clouds drifted over their heads on their lazy journey over fields and rivers, taking unrecognisable shapes as they told stories about every place they’d seen. Aether envied them.
“You know, in the world where I’m from, it’s always night,” he said. “Sure, it’s beautiful, we have so many more stars than you guys. And moons. But it’s the same. Wherever I looked, it was always the same. But this—” He waved his hand at the sky above them. “Your sky changes every day. It’s always different, the colours, the clouds. Dawn, dusk. I didn’t know words like that existed when I first came here. It’s beautiful.”
Albedo followed Aether’s gaze, considering the landscape in front of them. But his eyes—suddenly ablaze, a roaring fire—drew back on Aether as he said, “It truly is beautiful.”
Aether didn’t feel beautiful. He’s pretty sure his bed-hair was still sticking to all sides and his clothes were rumpled. But Albedo never failed in making him feel wanted, desired. Be that in the early morning hours without having his face washed or teeth brushed, or on the battle field with blood and grime spattered all over him.
Just like now, Albedo was able to make Aether come undone with a single gaze of those piercing, ocean eyes.
“Let’s go back before Paimon wakes up and throws a fit because she thinks we’ve left her,” he said and turned around before this would turn into an unholy, filthy ceremony out in the open not even the Archons should witness.
Aether didn’t come very far. Halfway down, Albedo caught up to him and in a flash, seized Aether’s wrist. He pulled him to a nearby tree, and a second later, Aether felt rough bark against his back. Albedo closed the distance between them in one step. His hands cupped the back of Aether’s head, his mouth slanting down over his, hot and sweet as tea with honey. Aether ran his teeth lightly across Albedo’s bottom lip, and he made a guttural sound that raised the hairs along Aether’s arms. He pressed his body hard against Aether’s, lowering his head to kiss his throat, to lick and suck at the pulse point where he could feel the beating of his heart.
“Don’t,” Aether laughed, rising his shoulders to hide his skin from Albedo’s hungry mouth. “I’m stinky after yesterday’s battle.”
“No.” The tip of Albedo’s nose grazed his sensitive skin. “You smell like the sun. Always warm. As if the sun loves you. As if it wants to cling to you as long as possible.”
Aether’s knees buckled. How could simple words like that make him forget his own name. In Albedo’s hands, he turned to clay, left at Albedo’s mercy for he was the potter and Aether would become anything to please him. Albedo’s fingers traced his curves, the dips and hollows of his body as if he were describing a painting in gilt and ivory with each rush of his hands. Aether raked his hands over Albedo’s body, trying to find purchase before he completely turned into a puddle and dissolved between Albedo’s fingers. His hands caught on the belt strung across Albedo’s chest, and they both halted for a second as they waited for a heartbeat that didn’t come.
Albedo exhaled softly as he lowered his forehead to Aether’s. “If I had a heart, it would hurt for your burden.”
“It’s fine,” Aether said. He took Albedo’s hand and put it over his own heart. “Mine is enough for both of us.”
Albedo smiled. He pressed Aether’s knuckles to his lips, and murmured against his skin, “And what a magnificent heart it is.”
Aether held onto Albedo so much, just a little more and they’d become one. It felt like they were the only two people on this earth, just the two of them off to see the world and all its wonders. Aether wouldn’t mind. He wouldn’t mind if tomorrow came and all of Teyvat’s people fell into an endless slumber, and eventually completely disappear. Until recently, Aether hadn’t know it was possible to love someone this much. That if the world were to end tomorrow—if Aether were to have just one wish before it would all end in darkness, it’d be to wake up to Albedo’s sunkissed face in a quiet place they called home, built with their own hands. If that wasn’t love in its truest form, then every fairy tale Lumine used to tell him was a lie, and it was up to Aether to write his own story in which he’d make sure to burn so bright by Albedo’s side that even stars envied them whenever they come together to create a whole new universe.
