gonna post some screenshots from a particular user in the vampterview community and the users liking their garbage posts, just in case some of you haven't heard. should become obvious why i'm highly suspicious of anyone who interacts with any of these users.
please just read the posts. sorry i'm not providing image descriptions, please dm me if you need them and i'll add them when i can!
the first post is just one example one of many on this blog, the second one might seem innocuous if you see it on your own but in combination with the others, not so much. please pay attention to the people liking these.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then we have an anon complimenting the wisdom and maturity of this person, who then replied with several paragraphs:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and got likes from two of the same users and two others.
then they self reblogged one of the posts from earlier and continued:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
obviously this last post is the most egregious, and not everyone is bold enough to press like knowing that likes are public and could affect their reputation in the fandom. but i am going to assume that the people liking the other posts, which weren't all in public tags, are this person's followers and have seen all the other posts and believe this kinda shit is acceptable. and that speaks volumes about them as people.
i'm personally not going to assume that everyone who's ever liked or reblogged from any of these users did it knowing what kind of people they are (i didn't always know that either, and have probably reblogged from at least one of them before i did) but i am highly suspicious of anyone reblogging from them or interacting with them in a friendly way, and if i see people i follow doing that, i am going to unfollow unless i have very good reason to believe they genuinely had no idea, in which case i will message first.
i hope none of my followers need me to actually explain why what they're saying is absolute garbage but if you genuinely don't get the problem, dm me and i can find you some links about racism 101 i guess
EDIT/UPDATE:
someone asks nalyra what's going on
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she later adds this, linking to a post that links back to this very post you're reading right now
Tumblr media
track you UNliking something? GIRL WHY DID YOU LIKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
i do love how if you read this and don't bother clicking the link she sounds kind of reasonable, and even like she's taking accountability (she's not denying anything! she's linking to a source so people can judge for themselves!) just not SO much accountability that she'll actually say what she did. gotta click those links to find out, and let's face it, the majority of the people who see her post are simply going to assume she's being unfairly targeted again. i mean, she posts about it all the time! why bother even checking, it's not like she would ever link to, say, screenshots of her liking a post that says affirmative action is the only system of oppression based on race and anti-white racism is real
EDIT #2:
since it seems like i can't add more images here, i'm going to link to where i reblogged pretty-weird-ideas' post about this with another screenshot i took the same day, of nalyra liking yet another untagged post from cosmic

Massive ask compilation time OH LORD
Tumblr media
YES, her journals are a fun read. I somewhat wish there was more to her and The Dark Urge's interactions, too - she's wonderfully evil and clearly very attached to you if you're playing as that character, but I had hoped there was more of a reason for her obsession besides just "you were fun to cut up", haha. I remember reading her journal over a couple of times looking for something I might have missed.
His reaction was pretty in line with the Narrator's cues, just immediate rage over what she had done to him - DU Drow may be a masochist but that's reserved for people he cares about! So, her and her posse met a swift end. Also, despite the fact that the whole tadpole thing turned out being for the best, I think he's easily overtaken by resentment over his lost glory-days whenever faced with it so directly (he misses living in obliviousness) - not to mention his profound fear of vulnerability, and of feeling... Small. The way Kressa spoke to and of him would have absolutely shook him to his core, especially by doing so in front of the others.
[MORE UNDER CUT]
Tumblr media
THANK YOU so much for your kind words first of all! As for the question, it depends a bit on the timeline; his dislike of female drow, especially at the start of his tadpole'd journey is pretty irrational and faith status wouldn't be of too much relevance, he just thinks It's in their nature to want to put him down and be conniving, and wants nothing to do with them.
Later, and especially post-game, he might at least give them a chance to prove they aren't "like other drow", though it would take him a lot to ever let his guard down entirely - UNLESS you seem like a complete fool LOL he's actually easy to trick into dismissing you as long as you don't mind playing the role of a dumb idiot.
But if not, he'd have an extremely short patience for any attempts to exert authority over him or his actions - or jokes at his expense, or any level of smugness or secrecy. Nymea would definitely feel kept at arms length because of the gender+race combo alone and have to put up with a lot of snideness. Basically, she'd have to treat this 6'4" feet tall freak with kids gloves to ever develop a rapport LOL
But also... The vampirism may "help"? He'd consider her a "lesser drow" for it. In that regard her attitudes toward Astarion would probably come to be relevant. I'm not sure about that aspect of it to be honest!
Tumblr media
First of all, this is a hysterical scenario because he Would just fucking put the ring on without thinking about it LOL so thank you for the laugh that mental image just provided me with.
Oh he wouldn't care though. I mean, he dislikes drow in general, but he is a drow (up for debate, but you know, generally speaking) and he thinks he's pretty great. As long as he's still huge and strong he could wake up a woman tomorrow and not give a damn. And, frankly, his dick could turn into a pussy at any point in time and it wouldn't change anything about his character save for having to add a recurring UTI problem to his character sheet - he'd probably have fun with it.
Tumblr media
TOTALLY FAIR, I'm very sorry it went past the point of enjoyment for you, but I'm glad you knew when to put it down!!! We're in our hand-holding and elf-smooching era now with the occasional visceral description of violence LOL SO YOU'RE WELCOME IN IF YOU'D LIKE. Thank you for dropping by!
Tumblr media
Just putting this here because - I actually haven't decided yet, so that's pretty funny you asked LOL I'm leaning eyes closed though, nothing like a smooch to calm the big weirdo down.
Tumblr media
HAHAHAH WELCOME BACK, I've been around this whole time! But I was hanging out on twitter for the most part. HOPE YOU'RE INTO THE DND STUFF LOL
Tumblr media
DROW DURGES RISE UP I'll be honest with you friend, DU drow's lore has been as accidental as something like that can be, so much of it has felt completely organic in the way it came up - I guess that's what good RPG does to your brain. The rest of it has just been a wonderful opportunity to develop my writing that I decided to take full advantage of this year. Thank you so much for the lovely message!
---
Aaaaand I can barely muster something to say that feels like an appropriate response, but again I wanted to acknowledge all the sweet compliments people take the time to leave in my inbox. Some of you guys' comments about the things I create blow me away, I think I'm pretty confident in my art but... Damn, makes me so happy to know the stuff I create can hold a little special place to some folks. Thank you all so, so much for taking time out of your day to spread a little kindness around, and make mine a little better.

Again, thank you all for humoring me, have a lovely day folks!

Bestiaryposting Results: Ilyecham
Presenting the results for the Ilyecham -- a name which continues to look wrong in Tumblr's sans-serif font. That's:
Ilyecham
There we go. As usual, if you're not sure what this is about, you may find an explanation at https://maniculum.tumblr.com/bestiaryposting . The text from which the artists are working is here:
I saw one post saying something along the lines of "if these things are going to keep being birds, I'm going to have to learn more about bird-drawing." I regret to tell you that the Aberdeen Bestiary has a whole section on birds, so they are indeed going to keep coming up. They make up, like, a third of the entries I have queued. Sorry. Or, if you wanted motivation to practice your avian drawing skills, you're welcome.
Also, sorry this post is a couple hours later than usual -- I had Other Obligations this evening.
Anyway, here's the art, in roughly chronological order as per usual.
Tumblr media
@embervoices (link to post here) has drawn both a colorful adult and a less-colorful juvenile, and moreover provides us with a quick vocabulary lesson, which I always enjoy because I'm a language nerd. (They also wrote their own image description -- thank you for that, saves me some time.) I absolutely love that the Ilyecham "greedily seizing larger birds" is here represented by a hatchling aggressively going after a "bewildered goose". The linked post includes some notes on design decisions also.
Tumblr media
@miapcain (link to post here) has done another beautifully stylized picture, showing multiple Ilyechams and their aggressive behavior. I love the style of course, and I also like that these have an almost sandpiper-like body plan with long beaks, which they apparently use to stab other birds -- or at least I think that's what the one in the bottom right is doing, which I think is pretty cool. The blue heads are a nice visual touch also, I think. The kind of tiled geometric background feels very period-appropriate, exactly the sort of thing you'd see in a particularly richly-illuminated manuscript.
Tumblr media
@sweetlyfez (link to post here) notes that there aren't many visual details in the description, so she decided to draw a regular bird of prey and then add a wizard hat to indicate that it is armed with spirit, which I love. I actually laughed out loud when I saw her explanation of why the hat. Excellent choices, no notes. Also I think this is a pretty good bird drawing on its own merits, hat aside.
Tumblr media
I continue to enjoy @rautavaara's drawing style (link to post here). I really like the way the rays of the sun are drawn here, specifically. Their Ilyecham is molting in an extremely dramatic fashion, missing whole clumps of feathers, which I think looks quite cool and communicates the idea well. (I worry a little bit about how long it's going to be able to stay in the sky with so many wing feathers missing, but they're apparently quite unpleasant birds, so maybe a rough landing is well deserved.)
Tumblr media
@coolest-capybara (link to post here) has drawn us a whole family of Ilyechams. Also in excellent medieval style, as usual -- the stylized drawing are kind of all in a cluster in this post. I like the plants; coolest-capybara is quite good at drawing plants in a way that looks just like the Unidentifiable Medieval Foliage you'd expect in a manuscript. We can see one parent exhibiting its molting behavior, another fighting a much larger bird, and three poor little juveniles walking off looking a bit dejected. Hits all the highlights of the description very well, I think. The linked post includes a brief description and a few close-up details of the image.
Tumblr media
@silverhart-makes-art (link to post here) would like to acknowledge that this is "kind of a mess" and "the wings are just gonna look like that", which I think is an example of artists holding themselves to very high standards because this looks very realistically rendered to me and I have no idea what might be wrong with it. That's a damn fine bird drawing right there. The linked post includes a pretty thoughtful explanation of which behaviors in the provided description are reminiscent of which birds, and how silverhart has combined elements of a few different birds to make this one.
Tumblr media
@karthara (link to post here) has drawn us what is unmistakably a bird of prey, and briefly explains in the linked post what birds this is inspired by. I think the feather pattern is very interesting, particularly the blue on the head. Something about the way the shape of the pattern interacts with the bird's eye looks very cool. A certain je ne sais quoi, if you will.
Tumblr media
@hairycarrot (link to post here) has done a pretty cool-looking sun in the corner of the page. One of the unexpected things I'm enjoying about these is that multiple artists decided to have fun with how to draw the sunshine in which the Ilyecham spreads its wings. Poor little guy falling out of the nest there... buddy I don't think that one is quite ready to fly.
Tumblr media
@treesurface (link to post here) shows us an Ilyecham creating a breeze by beating their wings, as described in the entry, which I like. Their Ilyecham is equipped with a dangerous-looking pointed beak for the purpose of fighting larger birds, and the look in its eyes definitely helps with that impression. The linked post provides an explanation of design decisions.
Tumblr media
@strixcattus (link to post here) notes that the description provided reminds them of a number of small raptors, but that all of those raptors look kind of alike, so they've given their Ilyecham a striking feather pattern to stand out from the crowd. I really like it, the pattern is excellent. I also like that we're seeing the return of an animal from a previous entry: that thing it's grabbing in its claws is a Holghras chick from a couple weeks ago. (Though I'm slightly torn because I like those little muppets, and the Holghras has enough problems without being attacked by an Ilyecham.) Strixcattus has again provided us with a modernized description of the creature in question, which is amazing as always. If any of y'all enjoy worldbuilding half as much as I do, you owe it to yourself to read these.
Tumblr media
@moustawott (link to post here) has drawn us a very small-looking bird here, performing stationary flight to aid in its molting behavior. The feather pattern is very good, in my opinion, and I like how the molted feathers are kind of blowing away behind it. Also an excellently-rendered bird in general.
Tumblr media
@pomrania (link to post here) envisions the Ilyecham as looking old and grumpy to fit the vibe of its described behavior -- an early draft of this drawing includes a speech bubble reading "get a job you freeloaders", which I think hits the mark pretty well. (For early drafts and additional commentary on the design, see the linked post) I like the eyebrows, I like the severe color scheme over most of the body paired with the colorful wings, and I like that this is the closest to what I pictured when I read about the Ilyecham, namely this:
Tumblr media
(Not that it's an eagle, but you know. Vibes.)
Tumblr media
@mobileleprechaun (link to post here) has very clearly depicted a small bird attacking a larger one. They note "heavy Season’s Greason’s inspo" and you know what? I totally see it. I also enjoy the decision to make the larger bird a dodo.
Tumblr media
Another cool pen drawing from @cheapsweets (link to post here), who also has some thoughts about how this particular nib works for drawing. Pretty well done birds, I think. I enjoy the one on the right just shoving the juvenile out of the nest, and the stylized sun is also pretty cool. The linked post includes a detailed explanation of the design decisions, and also has some questions about the entry that are probably rhetorical, but I figure I can try and shed some light on a couple of them anyway.
Again, we have a lot of behaviours, but nothing in terms of a physical description… Did the author just thing ‘everyone knows what birds look like’, was this just a bird that the reader was expected to be familiar with, or were they all like 'I’m not describing yet another bird… :p’?
I think it's a little of all of those, and also that the author tends to be more concerned with the symbolism of the animal than naturalistic description. So if, say, the color of its feathers doesn't have a symbolic meaning attached to it, the author won't bother to tell you. Related to that...
Hang on, this is going to be some kind of inspirational virtuous animal thing, isn’t is… :p I can imagine some medieval scribe writing 'and so, the ilyecham represents the cardinal virtue of fortitude’ or something…
Interestingly, this bird's parenting style is basically the only part of its description that doesn't have any symbolic explication attached. The molting in the south wind gets, like, pages of material though, including the fantastic assertion that it's the south wind because God comes from the south but the Devil comes from the north. Literally, that's what it says:
God, it is said, will come from the south. The Devil from the north; God from the south.
Moving on, let's take a look at the Aberdeen Bestiary illustration.
Tumblr media
Honestly, that also kind of looks like Sam the Eagle.
However, this is the entry for the Hawk. Yep. Turns out hawks are inherently opposed to the welfare state, which... actually lines up more than it should with present-day politics.
I don't have much more to add here, because most of my thoughts on hawks boil down to "Tobias was a pretty good character in the Animorphs series".
Pretty sure that's not how wings work, anatomically. But nevertheless. End of post.

I want to thank you for your response — I searched your blog and went back weeks, and found so many without sources, and no mentions of you using creative Commons or free use images. And with two weeks of no response, I decided that that meant you were ignoring the message, and got angry — so many people steal artwork, and so many claim they can't find the source, and then I open tineye, and one sort change later, I have a source for it.
In hindsight I definitely should have waited longer. I'm sorry for that. And that art isn't mine, I just hate seeing unsourced art.
It may be beneficial to specify either in your pinned or in the posts that it's free use/creative Commons.
Thank you for your time, and thank you for this blog <3
Tumblr media
Hello again Anon,
I've been thinking about how to reply to these messages for nearly a day now and I've spent more than an hour (make that 3 now) trying to write a reply. I've written and rewritten this multiple times. I'm finding it hard not to see these as a continuation of the accusation that I am deliberately and maliciously stealing other people's work so I'm going to take a step back and just say this:
Despite my early promise to myself that this would always be a safe space where people could anon with questions, queries, wins, worries, or whatever-related to health things, I'm turning off anons. Unfortunately, my various flavours of neurospiciness mean I will always want everyone's approval and for them to like me and so even if I don't respond publically I will still ruminate on things - for, well ever.
I'm going to let my current queue run out and then, most likely, won't be posting again - I may or may not deactivate the blog. This has been in the wind for a while now, I have found that something that was meant to be relaxing for me has become super stressful - particularly with feeling like I have to do it perfectly and not offend anyone, and make sure I give attribution (that I'm giving it to the right person), and add all possible triggers and warnings, include image descriptions, etc. etc.
While I agree with anon that attribution is important, I will not be going back through all my posts to add attribution in a format that works for everyone. Partially because this is Tumblr - the site renowned for being a complete dumpster fire to navigate and just use in general (I say this as someone who had some oranges I crocheted for my niece's Very Hungry Caterpillar present blocked during the great nipple witch hunt). But mostly I'm busy, permanently tired, and filled with forks (It's a variation on spoon theory people - not a swear!). However, if anyone wants to go through the posts and add attributions where they are missing or add them in ways that people on mobiles can see them - great - thanks :)
Lastly, let me just say be kind to yourselves and each other and,
Don't forget your meds today xxoo

10 | Crazy Love
Pairing: Ominis Gaunt x Fem!Reader
Serpents and Roses
When you get to your magical artifacts studies class, you tune out your professor completely. Instead of participating in the lesson, you remove the necklace that Ominis had given you and place it on your desk. You then take a hard look at it before opening your textbook.
You skim through the pages until you find the chapter on magical charms and protective spells. You find a picture with a similar image of the necklace Ominis had given you and let out a frustrated sigh.
"Protection Charm," you whisper, reading the description below the image.
"A simple charm used to keep away unwanted advances or danger. Can be applied to anything from a piece of jewelry to a house. The stronger the wizard casting the spell, the more powerful the protection will be."
"Great," you mutter, glancing over at the necklace and then at the class around you. He must think you're helpless. That must be why he gave it to you in the first place.
You shake your head as you stuff the necklace into your backpack. What an idiot you were to wear the stupid thing. You're not sure whether to be embarrassed or angry.
As class ends, you are one of the first to pack up your things and leave the room. As you step into the hall, a body nearly collides with yours. "Oh, sorry, Y/N," a blonde-haired girl your age smiles at you. She smiles at you kindly with her hazel eyes as she adds. "Hey, by the way, there's going to be a party tonight in the forbidden forest tonight. You should come if you haven't already been invited. Hosted by Gryffindor," she says with wide eyes.
"Yeah, sure, thanks," you nod. What luck, you grin to yourself. That necklace must've been good for warding off fun.
"Y/N!" a voice shouts as the girl leaves.
"Garreth," you turn, greeting him with a small smile.
"How was your day? Can I walk you to your dorm?" he asks.
"Yeah, that'd be great," you say as the two of you begin walking. "Hey, are you going to that Gryffindor party tonight?"
"Shh, keep your voice down. I was going to ask you about it but not where anyone can hear," he frowns, looking around cautiously. "Do you want to go?"
"I've never been to a wizard's party. Is it fun?"
"The best kind," he nods. "Want to come with me and my friends?"
"Thanks for the invite but I think Luna and Amit will want to go, too. I'll probably end up going with them but if we can't find the clearing, will you come get us?"
"Of course," Garreth grins.
"Awesome," you smile, relieved to have someone like him around. "Thanks again. My dorm's just around the corner. I'll see you later, yeah?"
"Yeah," he nods, seemingly proud of himself for something. "See you later, Y/N."
***
"Another party?" Luna sighs as she falls back on your bed.
"What do you mean? This is the first party I've been invited to... Were you invited to another and didn't ask me to go!" you gasp.
Luna laughs. "No! They just always do this stupid party. It's so the Gryffindors can show off. I've been before."
"But... I thought we were going to stay out of trouble this year," Amit chimes in, confused.
"Yeah, but it's different now 'cause Y/N is here," Luna sits up, a twinkle of mischief playing in her eyes. "Y/N wants to go, don't you, Y/N?"
You nod. "I've never been to a party like this before! I'm excited. Plus, it's our last year and all. You have to go, Amit."
"Fine, okay, I'll go. But if I drink too much and puke, it's your fault," Amit relents.
"I'm okay with that," you chuckle, "So, what do you do at a wizard party?"
"They have food and drinks and games and music," Luna tells you, counting on her fingers.
"And people get drunk," Amit adds. "Like, really, really drunk. I'll keep an eye on you guys, promise."
"Yeah, we'll be fine," Luna scoffs. "Besides, Garret will be there looking out for Y/N." You watch as a smirk grows bigger across her lips.
"Oh?" Amit chimes in. "You and Garret, eh?"
"No," you shake your head. "Luna, please."
Luna watches as you walk over to your dresser and begin to rifle through it for something to wear tonight. Suddenly, she gasps and stands to her feet. "Wait, Y/N, don't try anything on. I think I've got the perfect thing for you. Amit, I love you but it's time for you to go! We'll be out when we're ready!"
The next time you see Amit, you are dressed in a semi-transparent bodice with long, sheer sleeves that puff at your shoulders. Your bodice and sleeves are embellished with sparkling details that shimmer in the light. The neckline of your bodice forms a deep V-shape, outlined with a glowing, neon trim that forms a choker around your neck. The fabric is adorned with glittering, sequined patterns that cover your chest.
Luna had given you a headpiece with luminous, crystalline structures resembling leaves and branches, with bright points of light at the tips. Your earrings, necklace, and choker are also illuminated, seamlessly blending with the glowing theme.
"Wow," you say, taking your own breath. "This is beautiful, Luna."
"Thanks," she giggles. "I made it myself."
When you step away from the mirror, you look at Luna whose outfit is equally beautiful.
Her makeup has glowing, iridescent pink and purple eyeshadow that extends beyond her eyelids, creating a starry, sparkling look around her eyes. Her cheeks have a luminous pink blush with the same starry, glittery look as the eyeshadows. Her lips are glossy with an ombre effect, transitioning from a darker edge to a lighter center. Her septum piercing also compliments the subtle highlight on her nose and cupid's bow.
Her outfit is the image of a fanciful and vibrant piece of clothing, with a bright pink, ruffled material. The garment has a sheer quality with a corset-style lacing in the front. She also has several choker necklaces including one that has a cross pendant. They all have gemstones that match the colors in her makeup and dress. It's a perfectly put-together piece that compliments her beautifully.
Amit's jaw drops when he sees the two of you, his eyes lingering on your dress. "W-wow. You both look so amazing!"
"I know, right?!" Luna giggles, pulling you close to her but still being careful not to smudge your makeup. "Are you ready to go?"
"Yeah," he grins. "Shit, I must be the luckiest guy in the world."
"You definitely are," Luna winks.
You can't help but smile as the three of you sneak out of the castle and walk towards the forbidden forest. When you arrive at the location far away from the school's entrance, you enter a clearing in the forest that is booming with music. You can hardly hear your own thoughts as Luna takes you by the hand and begins dragging you through a sea of people.
"How the hell does this not get shut down?" you shout at your friends once they stop to catch their breaths.
"It's got a sound barrier," Amit explains to you. "Besides, we're pretty sure that the professors are already aware that it's a tradition so they don't tend to bother."
"Look, there's drinks and games over there," Luna shouts, pointing in the direction. "We should check it out!"
The three of you head in the direction of a long white table with a black cauldron resting on top. The smell of something delicious makes your stomach growl.
Luna grins as she grabs three cups and pours each of you a glass of the cold liquid. She then hands one to you and one to Amit. "Try it!"
"What is it?" you ask, sniffing the steam rising from the cup. Whatever it is, it smells like the most wonderful thing in the world.
"Wizard's Sangria," Luna smiles at you as she raises the cup to her lips. You do the same, the two of you drinking the contents at the same time. "It's good right?"
"Yeah," you beam at her, your cheeks feeling hot all of a sudden as you look at her. "What's in it?"
"Sangria, vodka, berries, and oranges," Amit tells you as he looks down at the drink.
"What's wrong, Amit? Feeling shy?" Luna giggles.
"Wait? That's it? Then why is it called Wizard's Sangria? I'm pretty sure back home that's just a Vodka Sangria," you shrug.
"Uh, well," Amit mutters. "There's also Amortentia?"
"Amortentia?" you hum. "What's that? Some kind of potion?"
"It's a love potion," Luna giggles as she nudges you in the side, causing goosebumps to course down your body.
"What? Why would someone-"
"To get some," Luna chuckles. "I'm sure there's a lot of broken hearts and jealous boyfriends at this school."
"Why would they put it in the punch though?"
"To get everyone to loosen up a bit," Amit rolls her eyes. "It works by heightening attraction. Basically, the closer you are to the person, the stronger the effects. And since the potion is mixed with sangria, the alcohol is a lot more effective."
"And it only affects whatever person you look at first," Luna hums, and only now do you realize how close she is to you. "So, tell me, Y/N, who is the first person you saw after taking the first sip?"
"Well, it was..." you gulp. Has Luna always been so beautiful? It's seriously hard not to stare at her. You feel your heart skip a beat as she moves her lips closer to yours.
"Y/N?" she says your name again.
"Um," you stammer, looking over her shoulder. "I think it was some random person. I don't know."
"Really? Cause you're the first person that I looked at," she grins mischievously.
"Oh," you gasp, looking down at her lips. You feel your body temperature rise as her lips draw even closer.
"Y/N!" another voice calls out. You quickly snap out of the trance you seem to be in to see Garreth waving as he walks your way. "Hey, how's it going?!" he asks all three of you.
"Good," Luna and Amit reply, but you remain quiet as you watch him pour a cup of Wizard's Sangria into a plastic cup.
Luna winks at you before linking her arm with Amit's. "Y/N, we'll let you two talk. We'll be nearby if you need us, okay? Text me if you need anything."
"Yeah, thanks," you smile at her subconsciously as you watch them walk away.
"How's your night going?" Garreth grins after taking a sip of his drink, causing you to do the same to help relax your nerves.
"Alright," you smile back at him.
Garreth, with a sly grin, leans in and says, "Well to me it looks like this party just got a lot more interesting since you're here. Care to dance?"
"I'm all for making the night interesting," you grin as Garreth extends his arm out to you. After the two of you toss out your newly emptied drinks, he leads you to the middle of the crowd. The next thing you know, a fast-paced song is playing and everyone is moving around you. As your body follows the rhythm of the music, Garreth's hands are suddenly on your waist. Your heart skips a beat when you realize it.
"Is this alright?" he whispers low in your ear.
"Yes," you reply, placing your arms around his neck. "This is great."
As you dance, you allow your body to relax against Garreth. Time feels as though it's suddenly stopped as you lose yourself in the music. Before you know it, the two of you are face-to-face, your lips only centimeters apart.
"Y/N," he calls to you softly.
But before you can reply, another voice calls out to him instead. "Garreth!" you hear, only to look over and see Oliver Nott pushing his way through the crowd towards the two of you.

Crack The Code, a bunch of hints toward the password. (to get to Password Please just click on the image)
Password Please, to get to the enter password section just click on the image.
The password is found via finishing the Worksheet in the gallery of the Exhibition Page,
The password is the first letter of each answer, spelling out BSPJW (it does have to be capitalized, that was heart breaking to find out after putting so much effort into a hard answer...)
The gallery on the Staff Only Page has a lot of hard to read documents, but most of them will give you a description upon hovering your mouse over them.
And that's it :D that is all the knowledge I'm able to share, if I find more information I will for sure update this! Oh and please please take a look though the site! This project is such a masterpiece and has passion that you can see at every corner!!!
and before I forget! if you have anything to add to this please do! there were a few links that I wasn't able to find again ;-;

New stuff on P8treon!
I've posted a ton of concept art for Yume, the deuteragonist of a comedy horror RPG I've been cooking up on the back burner! It includes a character description, and a little bit about the idea for the game itself. Available at all tiers, starting at $2!
One of my favorite of any finished poem of mine, Composure, can be read there as well - And also at all levels! I have a vision for how I want to present the poem when I post it, but I don't know when I'll get the time to get it down, so I'm throwing it on P8treon for now, for anyone who wants to see it early.
Later in the month, anyone who s*bs for $5 will be seeing some Halloween in Blackwood concept art, that goes into the lore of the webcomic! (Hyped to share that)
[I'm not feeling very well today, but I'll try to add an image description as soon as I can. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!]

We know that both Magnus and Lance know how to brew potions, but the farmer just taught themselves how to do it, so how would they react to a farmer making the wrong potion? maybe it explodes or something while they are making it, or maybe it looks normal until they drink it and something that's not supposed to happen happens, that's up to you.
Would they panic? Get mad (they keep telling the farmer "I told you not to do it")? Do they laugh and just take it easy?
Answering this question, I could not decide how best to answer it: as a regular description, or to add a little scenario? In the end, everything was mixed into one heap, and... well, it is what it is 🥲 Still, hope you like answer and feel free to add your thoughts about this!
Magnus Rasmodius:
Magnus returned late in the evening from his tower home to farm. He immediately turned to the kitchen, knowing that you would be there. And before Magnus announced his arrival to his partner, he found the Farmer covered in soot. The kitchen is a complete mess, and it's smells like magic and something burning.
The Farmer is the first to greet his spouse, explaining to Magnus that the Farmer's unkempt appearance and the mess in the kitchen are the result of failed attempts to master a new potion. At the same time, the Farmer, while talking with Magnus, they're brews the potion again (stop, why are they brewing this potion in a kitchen pot?).
If the consequences of Farmer's fiasco are like this (soot all over their face, elixir stains all over the kitchen), then he will not overreact to it. Magnus chuckle a little, jokes about their "image and interior change" and helps clean up the mess. He will praise their initiative and desire in learning the potion brewing, but still he will insist on their training in alchemy. At a minimum, learn the safety rules, and no Farmer, they are not boring, and very important, so you will learn them.
Hoverer, If he notices that the Farmer is about to put the last ingredient in the kitchen pot (seriously, why the fuck do they brewing elixirs in the kitchen pot?), which is sure to be the catalyst for a huge explosion and the destruction of a good half of the entire Stardew Valley, then he will stop you instantly. After that, when Magnus calmed down a little, and convinced that nothing else threatens, he will turn to the Farmer and, oh boy, expect a long tirade from your wizard husband, because how could you act so irresponsibly?!
They are banned from brewing potions and learning spells! (not for long, he can’t be angry forever). Magnus scolded the Farmer like a little child.
I mean, they understand why Magnus is so angry, but still, please, I'll be careful, I was so interested, the other potions I learned without any problems, I'm sorry forgive me! 🥲
Lance:
It's impossible to explain, but Lance has been feeling a little weird since morning. His inner instinct told him that something should happen today. Usually he has this feeling before a dangerous fight with a monster. Today he stays at home with the Farmer, everything should be alright. But why can't he get rid of this feeling?
This became clear later, when he found his spouse at a table, on which are various kinds of mushrooms, berries, cones and a home-made alchemy set. The Farmer decided to try their hand at brewing a new elixir, which increases their combat performance for the whole day! Pretty cool, huh?
Lance isn't particularly surprised, since you've brewed elixirs more than once. He knows the composition of this elixir, and therefore he is very pleasantly surprised that you can make this potion yourself.
But before Lance could praise their talent, his eyes fell on a green mushroom cut into small cubes. He knows perfectly well what kind of mushroom it is. The potion contains a completely different green mushroom, but it is very easy to confuse them, since they almost look the same.
And then the instinct works: this mushroom is poisonous, no matter how you cook it, it is a danger, death! It shouldn't be in the elixir.
And when he notices that they are about to take a sip of the brewed potion, he abruptly knocks the bottle out of their hands. The elixir spilled onto the floor, leaving a huge acid stain on the carpet.
Lance isn't too angry, more like he was scared and upset. The Farmer almost took their own life in their own house.
And even though Lance only slightly scolded Farmer for such recklessness, you can see from his face that he was very scared for you. The Farmer feels terribly guilty.
Somewhere in the evening, when they both come in bed, the Farmer apologizes many times and promise that they will not act so irresponsibly towards their own lives, that they will be more careful. Lance forgives them, kisses them, and offers to help them brew potions next time. The Farmer gladly agrees, because this means spending more time with their lovely and caring spouse! Win-win for everyone!

Hello!!! Your recent ID post has def helped me a lot and I'm slowly adding alt text to past work (and then eventually reblog with IDs in desc :D). However there are some things that I'm still uncertain about:
1) How should someone properly format ID's where you have multiple images that you don't want to/can't separate with IDs (i.e. comics). I'm sorry if I missed an example of that in one of the linked sources ^^;
2) Additionally, as someone with hand/wrist issues I'm really grateful for shortened posts/read mores as it's less strain for my hands to scroll past. That is to say, would it still be rude to place an ID in a read more if the IDs happen to be lengthy (in the event of describing multiple images)? Would it be better to add it as a reblog instead?
I would like to try to make my posts more accessible for others!!! I'm incredibly grateful for those who provide audio captions, so I am very interested in doing the same for visual descriptions :D thank you for bringing attention to this, and providing helpful resources on the topic as well ^w^♡
I'd like to mention there's a Tumblr feature that automatically shortens long posts. Go to Settings -> Dashboard -> Interface --> Shorten long posts.
Hi besties! Also don't worry. There are a lot of links I gave you guys, and even I get lost in the sauce. The most useful thing I found writing IDs for comics is this:
it's for all types of visual media, but it has a comic section. The general formatting is this:
Write comics in a single ID:
Have an introductory paragraph where you describe the context of your comic, or the context of its beginning. This includes your style, the main subjects and how they're positioned, the surroundings (the location), and the basic thing happening between the characters.
Then the later paragraphs will go into specifics of dialogue and action. If there's a visual change, such as a zoom-in or a change of perspective, you're going to describe that, and put that before the dialogue.
End ID
Panel by panel is not good. Comics are narratives and stories and they need a flow. This post talks about it here:
Also, often, describing a comic isn't that long. Unless you're posting multiple full-blown pages at a time, then your typical 4-panel or maybe, 1-2 page comic will span a few paragraphs for the ID. But I answered an anon over at @lab-labrava about comic lengths. If it genuinely is long then @antimonarchy addressed this problem
Put image descriptions first. Don’t hide them under readmores or any other text. If you have something with multiple images and you are the creator, place the description under each image in succession rather than all at the end. Readmores are ableist, as they require someone who has vision problems/one of the conditions described above to do more work to access the message of visual content.
^^^ This goes more in depth. Check the section with Placement of ID
You guys see me writing IDs in reblogs like this:
ID:
Image 1: (description of image)
Image 2: (description of image)
End ID
This is because I'm reblogging from the OP. I don't own the original post, so I'm forced to format it like this when ideally, I'd place the ID straight after each image. if you have multiple images, then write an ID for each image and place it straight after that image, like the following:
(image 1)
ID: (description of image 1) end Id
(image 2)
ID: (description of image 2) end ID
and so on.
Full-Blown Comics with Multiple Images/Pages
See I'm so conflicted here. When it's a huge ongoing project, then the ID for each page can span multiple paragraphs, and each Tumblr post may have multiple comic pages in a single update. So my formula above, where I place an ID straight after each image can elongate the post severely. In that case, alt text is a good idea. Especially since people using screen-readers may listen to Image image image, and skip past the post, not waiting the lump-sum ID near the end. In this case, you can forgo ID and write alt text. That's what most people do anyways.
I hope that answers some questions

Hello! Sorry if this ask is out if the blue for your blog, but I saw you copy and pasted an ID I wrote under a readmore; I was wondering if doing that makes it unaccessable for screenreaders? I want to make sure I don't simultaneously add an accessibility aid and then also block it from being read out for those that need it.
Hi, I'm happy to answer! Basically, while an ID under a read more is way better than no ID, the best possible image description is one that basically makes the post "flow" the same way for people reliant on image descriptions compared to how people who don't need them would experience it.
Or in other words, the description is best placed immediately after the image (so that people can read/hear the description before proceeding to anything that comes later in the post), and not under a read more (so that no one has to, at worst, open a whole new tab or a sidebar before the post becomes accessible, depending on how tumblr feels like working that day). Read mores can be extra inconvenient for people with slow internet, or if OP changes their URL, so generally it's just best not to pair them with image descriptions — unless the image itself is under the read more, of course.
Thank you for asking, and I appreciate you wanting to make your blog more accessible!

hii, i had your fic (debt) in my "to read" list for a while and i just read it, its amazing and the overall vibe is kind of unique? i've never read any fic with the idea of canal city so im having a pretty image of it in my head (yes im the type to associate scents, color accents and atmosphere to fics and stories)
idk if it would be weird for me to tell you what i see in my head but im gonna say it anyways (sorry if it doesn't make sense lol)
so you know these cities where builds are high with fancy looking apartments with balconies and beautiful view from above, yellowish lights and damp cobblestone pathways between these buildings, autumn fallen foliage, people scattered all over the place, street vendors and booths, gentle wind and something like that? yeah i just wanted to talk about it😭
also if you upload the next part can you tag me? thank you🫶🏼
I'm so glad to hear you like it so far!! 💕 And I love hearing that you are enjoying the vibe/imagery - I definitely put a lot of focus in my series on setting the scene and trying to give readers an idea of how it would feel to be in the important places of the fic. That's something I really enjoy as a reader, so it's something I try to do as a writer 😊
I think also because in this case there's a lot of emphasis on the contrasts of the spaces (jisung's apartment before vs. after his marriage, jisung's family's homes vs. reader's apartment, the two different furniture stores) as representations of their class differences (and also the issues they may run into later on 👀) I felt it was important plot-wise to be pretty thorough in my descriptions. But sometimes I really throw in descriptions/detail for zero reason 😅
And it definitely is not weird! I love hearing how people imagine the worlds that I've created, it's so interesting 😊 And your description is very spot on! I vaguely modeled Jisung/Reader's city on Amsterdam, if that helps with imagining vibes (fun fact - Jisung's sister's husband's home city in my mind is similar to Venice 😀)
Thank you for stopping by to leave an ask! Reading asks/commentary on my stories makes me SO happy 😀😀 And of course I can add you to the list!

who needs IDs, how do they help and why are they used? i've always been curious, i mean no harm by asking, so sorry if this is rude
Not rude at all anon, I'm so glad you asked!! Image descriptions are accessibility aids for vision-impaired folks and anyone who may have issues parsing an image (ex: an autistic person unable to comprehend a visually busy art piece). For people who can't see an image for any reason, IDs provide a way to understand what's on screen, whether it's a meme or tweet or art. For example, a blind person using a screen reader (a device that reads text out loud) wouldn't know what an undescribed all-image post was talking about, but with an ID they could know it's a tweet and then a meme mocking it
IDs can look abstruse and intimidating when you're unfamiliar with them, but I promise they're not! The simplest step to making your blog more accessible is scanning the notes of a post to find a comment with an ID and reblogging that version of the post instead! If you're interested in learning how to write your own IDs, I really love this post as a resource, plus the amazing People's Accessibility Server if you have questions or want to request descriptions! I'd also like to plug my pinned post, which has a link to a doc with templates for a ton of memes so you can describe posts yourself!
I hope this wasn't too much text and that your question was answered clearly, anon! Please feel free to go through my "image descriptions" and "accessibility" tags for more info!

Copying tags in accessible ways on mobile
(Large text: Copying tags in accessible ways on mobile)
People screenshot tags all the time, whether to share a funny joke or add important commentary, but they often don't realize that this is inaccessible to vision-impaired people and many others. This is a problem because a lot of people primarily use Tumblr on the mobile app, which doesn't let you interact with tags at all unless you screenshot them. However, accessibility is always worth the extra time and effort you can spare, so here are some ways for you to easily copy tags without spending too much of either!
Image-to-text softwares
(Large text: Image-to-text softwares)
If you simply must screenshot those tags, you can still convert them back into usable text! There are plenty of easy-to-use websites that allow you to take any downloaded image and extract the text from them. I prefer onlineocr.net, but the Google Translate app has the same feature! All you need to do is input the image and hit the button, and it'll spit out the text for you to copy. This method is fantastic for images with lots of text, not to mention it's easy to do and generally accurate, and I use it all the time to great effect!
Going to browser
(Large text: Going to browser)
If you're on mobile, it's probably a safe bet to say that your phone also has a browser app. If so, all you need to do to copy the tags from a post is copy the link of said post into a browser and then copy the tags from there. This method can mean extra formatting, since hashtags and links won't copy over, but it's relatively low-effort to do and doesn't take long at all!
Going on PC
(Large text: Going on PC)
If you're on mobile, you can also consider saving the post with desired tags to your drafts. This means you can easily access it on another device, aka a computer, and copy the tags there! Copying tags on desktop is possibly the easiest way to do it, since all you need to do is highlight the text and paste it later- it'll even save the link formatting when you do! The only extra step you might have to do is add spaces between the tags, since they'll automatically come smushed together and only separated by hashtags. This method might mean you take a little longer to reblog the tags, but it is very much worth it to make the post accessible to all!
Going forth
(Large text: Going forth)
These methods are a smidgen more effort than just screenshotting or prev tagging, but I don't think it's a bad tradeoff at all! I hope this can provide quick and easy ways for everyone to get more used to thinking more conscientiously about accessibility. And these aren't your only options- alt text helps people who use screenreaders, and you should always add an image description below screenshots if you're going to add them. Hope this helps!
TL;DR: Instead of screenshotting tags, which makes them inaccessible, other options are: using image-to-text software, copying the tags on a mobile browser, or copying them on desktop Tumblr.

How to Keep Doing Descriptions (from someone who does a fuckton)
Plain text: How to Keep Doing Descriptions (from someone who does a fuckton)
This is a list aimed mostly at helping people who already write IDs; for guides at learning how to do them yourself, check my accessibility and image description tags! I write this with close to two years of experience with IDs and chronic pain :)
Get used to writing some IDs by using both your phone and your computer, if you can! I find it easier to type long-form on my laptop, so I set up videos and long comics on my phone, which I then prop up against my laptop screen so I can easily reference the post without constantly scrolling or turning my head
I will never stop plugging onlineocr.net. I use it to ID six-word tags, screenshots of posts, and even comic dialogue! On that last note, convertcase.net can convert text between all-caps, lowercase, sentence case, and title case, which is super helpful
Limit the number of drafts/posts-to-be-described you save. No, seriously. I never go above 10 undescribed drafts on any of my four blogs. It doesn’t have to be that low, but this has done wonders (italics: wonders) for my productivity and willingness to write IDs. If I ever get above that limit, even if it’s two or three more, I immediately either describe the lowest-effort post or purge some, and if I can't do that then I stop saving things to drafts no matter what. No exceptions! Sticking to this will make your life so much easier and less stressful
My pinned post has a link to a community doc of meme description templates!
Ask! For! Help! Please welcome to the stage the People’s Accessibility Server! It’s full of lovely people and organized into channels where you can request/volunteer descriptions and ask/answer questions
I make great use of voice-to-text and glide typing on my phone to save my hands some effort!
Something is always better than nothing!!! A short two-sentence or one-sentence ID is better than no ID at all. Take it easy :)
If you feel guilty about being unable to reblog amazing but undescribed art, try getting into the habit of replying to OP’s post to let them know you liked it! This makes me feel less pressured to ID absolutely everything I see
I frequently find myself looking at pieces of art which feel like they need to be considered for a bit before I can write an ID for them, and those usually get thrown into drafts, where the dread for writing a comprehensive ID just builds. Don’t do that! Instead, try just staying in the reblog field for a bit and focus on the most relevant aspects of the piece. Marinate on them for a little; don’t rush, but don’t spend more than a handful of seconds either. I find after that the art becomes way easier to describe than it initially seemed!
On that note, look for shortcuts that make IDs less taxing for you to do! For example, I only ever describe clothes in art if they're relevant to the piece; not doing that every time saves a lot of time and energy for me personally
Building off of that, consider excusing yourself from a particular kind of ID if you want to. Give yourself a free pass for 4chan posts, or fanart by an artist who does really good but really complex comics, whatever. Let it be someone else's responsibility and feel twice as proud about the work that you can now allot more energy to!
As always, make an effort to find and follow fellow describers! It’s always encouraging to get described posts on your dash, and I find that sometimes I'm happier to ID an undescribed post when the person who put it on my dash is a friend who tagged it with "no ID"
TL;DR: To make ID-writing less stressful and more low-effort, use different devices and software like onlineocr.net and voice-to-text, limit the amount of work you expect yourself to do, and reach out to artists and other describers!

okay so since i'm starting this back up, i'm going to say some things!
I know... no one really cares... but i'd just like to let everyone know i'm changing some things and what they are.
so first off i am going to start crediting the photographer. i was kinda young when i started this and didn't really know that's something i should be doing (stupid). also, i won't be erasing or cropping out watermarks (very stupid, i am sorry for doing this). the problem is a lot of the photos are so old and a lot of the origins of the photos are gone because of deleted accounts, broken links, websites purging old photos, etc. additionally, many photos were saved on my computer but, the people who took them were not. so i will be trying my very best to credit the creator but in some instances, i will not be able to or i might get it wrong. I will always add them later or correct it if i, or someone else, do manage to find them!
also, I might be posting pictures I have already posted. I have no idea how i used to categorize them into the ones I have posted and the ones i haven't. it has been so long whatever it was, i don't remember. so this time it will be more organized than before but, there will be some repeats.
next, I will be adding the year, who's in the photo, and the photographer in the description, not just the tags. the year might be kind of difficult, so i might get it wrong occasionally. but if you know something i don't, tell me so i can go fix it.
I will also be adding image descriptions for the all pictures. i am new to writing those but i will try my best. so if you have a better description or advice to write them better, message me!
and then just some random things:
I have a twitter! follow me on there! i will be posting the same thing, more or less but on twitter.
I love when people submit photos, please do! but, try to find the best quality version of the photo and who took it.
we are adding jarrod alexander to the tags and whatnot, as he's literally in the band. doing the drumming.
i will fix the broken links soon but if you see any i still haven't fixed when it has been a while, let me know!
If you take any photos at the shows, I would love to post them (and credit you...). just submit them to me (please try to have them at the best resolution you can) or I can reblog your post if you message me the link.
i can (try to) help you find pictures, and i will try to answer any questions you have, message me!
i will be going back to queuing and sometimes posting pictures, i will try to mix it up with the era, so its not just new pictures but there will probably be a lot of new pictures.
i will be posting pictures of the whole band and not just cropping it to mikey
I might change things up depending on what needs to be and i can let everyone know. but i will not be commenting on everything and posting about myself and whatever. i find that incredibly annoying when picture and update accounts do that so. i won't be. I don't have a mcr side blog (maybe later) but i can give you my main if you want to talk.
tldr: i'm changing how i run this account and i'm glad to be back :)

Hi! I hope this doesn't sound rude, I've seen you mentioning that your screen caps have image description a couple of times in your tags, but I couldn't find them, could you explain what you're doing and where to find the descriptions? I don't need them, but I'm curious since if you say you've done something I trust you even when I can't see it. Sorry if the question bothers you or something.
oh yup!! and I'll be adding the descriptions to these screenshots as well
So for starters, this MIGHT only be available on desktop. I'm not sure if mobile supports this.
When you add an image to a post and hover over it, there will be a "dot dot dot" menu at the bottom right
Tumblr media
Click the "dot dot dot" and choose "Add image Description"
Tumblr media
Fill in the text and hit "Update"
Tumblr media
and just like that, aria-label properties have been added to your image! Here's what it looks like in the HTML
Tumblr media
Screenreaders respond to aria-label properties when focus is on an element. This is the standard way to make web images accessible to screenreaders.
I just experimented with turning Narrator on, and when keyboard focus moves onto the image with this aria-label, Narrator reads out "Image: a reply from phantomrose96 that reads "knocking it out of the park with color and lighting as usual""
But anyway this is the most proper way to make images screen-reader accessible. It adds the description inline with the content so the description isn't appearing later in the reblog chain, and it makes sure both sighted users and screenreader users only have to read through the text once.
Word of warning I discovered: if you EDIT a post, it wipes out the image descriptions and those must be re-added with each edit. (will send a bug to tumblr about this right now.)

This seems like kind of a dumb question, but you asked for questions and you're a Loki fan, so—what exactly did Loki do to that guy's eye in Stuttgart? I always thought he just held him down and scanned the eye so it could be duplicated for Clint to access the iridium, but then there are references to him just like cutting out his eye entirely.
This is definitely not a dumb question, tbh I don't really know exactly what Loki did to the eye. I've always assumed that Loki cut it out, due to his body language when he's doing it. I've mentioned this before, but Loki has this very consistent tendency to look away at the pivotal violent moment of a kill (or just a gruesome eye removal):
Avengers:

^^ Loki is looking slightly over Coulson's shoulder, not at the blade or the wound;
TDW:

^^ Loki is moving so quickly that it was impossible to get good screencaps, so I'm sorry, Loki, for how unflattering these are - but, when he's moving very fast he does seem to keep an eye on the elves so he can see what he's doing, but once he's on the last elf and the immediate threat has passed, he looks away while doing the killing;
Ragnarok:
Tumblr media
^^ Loki is looking at his opponent when he first swings his murder tiara at him, but when he actually goes in for the kill, he's looking away;

^^ And most recently, he's driving the blade into this TVA officer for the kill but is looking away, over his (the officer's) shoulder, not at what his (Loki's) hand or blade is doing.
I always found this tendency of Loki's to be interesting bc he's never struck me as someone who is particularly squeamish but, rather, it reads more like he's someone who really dislikes violence but he does what he has to do when he has to do it. He doesn't take any pleasure in the actual violence part of his violent acts; he's compelled to look away at the very last moment or as soon as it's "safe" to do so. That he does this even in Avengers, when he's so mind-influenced, really speaks to this aversion. (I once again must commend Tom on what have to be deliberate acting choices, unspoken yet so consistent they add to Loki's characterization without him having to say a word.)
My point is, in the scene in question, Loki looks away right as he plunges the tool-thing (does anyone know what it's called?) into the guy's eye, making me assume it's particularly violent and that he doesn't actually want to look at what he's doing:

^^ You can see that he's got his eye (heh) on the target in the first still, but in the second one, when he actually plunges it down, he looks away as he does it. He's not getting pleasure out of this; rather, there's a detached, kind of clinical feel in how he does this that speaks to his (I feel) revulsion at the violence. Yes, he's smiling and looking very pleased a few moments later, but as you can see, he only smiles once he notices the people around him scattering and screaming; he takes pleasure in their fear and, by extension, his own sense of feeling powerful and threatening. The eye part is an afterthought, secondary to his delight in the reaction he's causing.

So, yeah. That's how I always interpreted the scene - that Loki cut his eye out bc of reasons. However, I did go and look it up for this ask, and this is what the MCU wikia has to say about it:
Loki traveled to Stuttgart to find Heinrich Schafer, a scientist with access to a warehouse containing Iridium, an element Erik Selvig needed to stabilize the inter-dimensional portals created by the Tesseract.
Loki infiltrated a gala where Schafer was a guest speaker, and personally attacked him to create a diversion ... Loki used a device to send an image of Schafer's eye to Barton's location, and open the warehouse using the projection of the eye to pass a retina scanner.
This description makes it seem like Loki just scanned his eye, but I noted that Schafer's status is Deceased on the wikia, and clicking on his entry gives us this description:
He then used a device to extract Schäfer's eye and send a holographic copy to Hawkeye in order to open the vault with the iridium.
- so this explicitly says that Loki did extract the eye, the implication being that the guy didn't survive the process (I suppose he could have died from shock?).
So in short, the answer is (probably) both - Loki cuts out the eye entirely so that he could scan it to Clint to access the iridium. But yeah, on-screen it's not really clear exactly what Loki's doing. (Also I did not know until now that the eye-guy was an actual named character Loki chose on purpose; I always thought he was just some random schmoe in the wrong place at the wrong time, lmao.)
Thank you for the ask!
