quick rant but i really don't like when in jily hcs (like their wedding or something like that) james thinks of regulus all nostalgic and what if or worst of all lowkey wishing it was reg instead of lily with him in that moment. james would not persue a relationship with anyone (certainly not with lily) without his entire heart being in it. he wouldn't date anyone as his 'second choice' because he lost his first one. he'd rather not date anyone than do that to a person. james potter doesn't just settle because he wants a relationship. he is an all or nothing guy, especially when it comes to love

(that is to say if we make it jegulily im fully on board with it but in that case it still wouldn't be a 'i rather it was regulus' it would be an equal (if maybe different) love. he would still never put them against each other or value one more than the other, that just doesn't work for him. james would rather die than give one of them less love than the other)

Alright im brainrotting so like james and lily get harry enrolled in kindergarten and he instantly infatuated with little cactus draco who regulus babysat because draco is a menace for babysitter but soft only for his uncle reggie. So it ends up with so so much playdates between harry and draco which sorta like a date (going tot theme park, aquarium, beach, ice rink, etc) for jegulily. Jily cant help think regulus is so pretty charming and gorgeous and mooning over the black heir while kinda hiding their crush from each other because they felt guilty loving another person. Weird no one seems to ship Peter and Regulus. Would make more sense than James and Regulus. Would actually add some more depth and story to why Peter betrayed James and Lily. And why Peter set Sirius up to take the fall.

Peter being in love with Regulus to the point where he considers joining the death eaters makes much more sense than James who loved Lily a muggle-born and loved Sirius as a brother to point where his family adopted him and saved him from a death eater family.

Peter blaming Sirius for not getting Regulus out of the same abusive house and not being there to save Regulus from his death is great motivation for framing Sirius for the betrayal.
