back into ddlc but only enough to know “why did i say okie dokie” by memory and already have myself some awful daydreaming curse of slowly going insane from feeling my humanity and control slip away, a whole person i cared for disappearing to the point i couldn’t remember her name. something is wrong and i crave to know why, but i always return to the cause of the problems.

Posting on here feels like screaming into the void. Which means i can say anything without repercussions.
TO MY LITTLE BROTHER, sometimes it feels like I was born waiting for you. It’s not enough to say that it feels like we’re made up of the same stuff, most days it feels like we are the same stuff.
I would kill for you, I would die for you, I would live for you. So why won’t you text me back.

Third person POV:
Y/n loved the smell of this little bookstore she visited every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, the smell of coffee wafting past her as she sat under the magnificent cherry blossom tree with her new book of the week. This same tree that had sheltered her in rain and covered her in petals while she was just a student and new to the country and even now as an adult.
And when she abandons her beloved tree, he knows it is not for long. She will be back with a fresh tea and a pastry, and for him a brand new poem. So, he watches her go.
“She is heading back into the bookstore, boss. I really got to tell you I do not think there is any reason to be watching her.” “It will dawn on you all the longer you watch her.” “I’ve been watching her for 6 months, she’s beautiful but what’s with the obsession.” “Just wait.”
“Y/n you know most kids your age go out drinking and drink coffee more than anything else, and why you insist on looking after that rickety old tree I don’t understand.” “Aunty, you know I grew up reading books back home, every second I had away from school would be spent reading. I love it. It’s an escape that I need. And so, when I moved to Korea and found this place and that beautiful tree, and when I saw that you sold the rooibos we sell back home, well I fell in love. This became my escape. And that tree became my friend. The hominess of this place makes me feel almost at home, like my soul is home.”
And after she returns to the tree with a poem and tea, she sits quietly, pondering a thing or two…
“Hey, I like rooibos tea too” “You know Innie, you suck at stealth” “Where’d you two come from?” “Oh, nowhere really” “You are so dumb” “I HEARD THAT YOU DOG”
“Are you guys ok?” “We’re fine.” “Just here to enjoy the scenery.” Oh, then sure sit with me. You want my tea?” “Yes please.” “Seung, you can’t just take her tea.”
And in silence the girl read poetry to the tree while the two mysterious boys watched. And when she stopped she announced her resignation.
“We should walk you home.” “Yes, a woman should never be alone at night.”
“Say what is your command captain?” “Okay, you’re sweet. Follow me boys.”
They walked for a while, deciding outside of a convenience store that late night snacks and soju would be an amazing idea.
A little further up the road they got to a tiny but cosy loft apartment, briming with greenery and books. Simple and earthy. That is what y/n is. That is why all this fuss about her existed, they got it now. They knew now, tonight they would see the way they needed her.
She went to put her TV on. Some show about a mother and daughter who drank loads of coffee came on, she insisted that Gilmore Girls was the basics of comfort shows. They decided that she was right, because this was her and she would be right in anything she declared to them. 2 bottles of soju later and she was gone, of course Innie and Seung only had like 2 shots each. So, while Seung was getting her settled in and comfortable Innie called the boss.
“Oh yes tell that pretty boy Jisung m with her right now. She is so beautiful when she is asleep, wonder what her lips feel like… who knows? Oh well, we will be staying over here to look after her and clean up. Y’all can meet her tomorrow. But God hyung, you were right about her.”

The Twenty-First Night
Tumblr media
A bit of 1001 Nights-inspired poetry that I wish was in The Art of the Night to make it more than just a spicy yoga manual or a spellbook. This is part of the longer scene I wrote, but I wanted to share it separately too, because I've been inspired by other BG3 poets. I'm not really a poet, but I did my best <3
~*~*~
That night, the king met his beloved once more in their chambers.
"Dearest one," said he,  "Gold I have given thee,  and jewels from my store;  chains for thy neck  and bands for thy wrists;  and still, thine eyes shine more brilliantly  than any treasure in my kingdom.
"What gem in all the realms  can be more precious than thy gaze?  What more can I give to you,  my beloved, so that you may know  the ardent depths of my heart?  What more, when thine eyes alone  make all riches seem as dull iron?"
"Tender-hearted king," said the queen,  "I need neither gold nor gems;  my love is not so cheaply bought  nor so willingly sold.  And yet, already thou possess  that which I long for most.  Thy steady gaze, my love,  and thy faithful hand are all I ask.
"Come, take my hand,  and look beyond this simple visage. I will bare my soul to thee, this night,  and gaze boldly at thine. For more than bone and blood are we, but spirits merely housed in flesh.’"

since joker out posted a snippet of everybody's waiting (and made me cry) i looked at the form of the lyrics and ordered what i think are also lyrics from bojan's instagram based on the rhyme schemes and syllable counts (as well as the metrical feet used). welcome back to poetry theory!
the real snippet:
hype comes, love goes, everybody fades hiding every day behind the shelter of your shades you can't make it go away ginger shot, vitamins, shower cold, feeling old just do everything the way you are told case closed, soul sold.
what i think is another verse (might not be lyrics and if they are i still might have gotten the order wrong! this is just an educated guess!):
quotas to fill, bills to pay you should be getting ready for the big day starlight effect and a cigarette everyone’s there, no one gives you a call the center of the world on a pedestal, until it's your turn to take the fall
given how the real snippet has an AABCCC rhyme scheme i'm guessing the other verse would be the same, and within the rhyming lines i ordered them based on line lengths. for the CCC cluster i also took into account the fact that one of those lines (the fourth) is dactylic in both instances and the others are trochaic in the snippet while one in iambic in my proposed verse.
also, the lines in the snippet are less strict, having anywhere from 2 to 7 stressed syllables in a line, but with the exception of the fourth line every other line is trochaic with no iambs in sight. but other than that my main sentiments from this post still stand!

since my poetry seems to be getting a fair bit of love, here’s a poem i wrote called ‘kept at bay’
only want me at arms reach
i’ll haunt your window seat
i don’t exist, at that beach
ghost the shoreline, i repeat
i don’t exist, at that beach
freckled skin, summer heat
you can hate me if you want to
burn the letters, burn the world
you can hold me if you want to
tell me sweet things, count me sold
you can hate me if you want to
burn the letters, burn my soul
you can hold me if you want to
tell me stories, make me whole
am i a pretty liar?
jealousy is never fun
am i a pretty crier?
honesty on a bitter tongue
am i a pretty liar?
see through, i’m done
am i a pretty crier?
head on your shoulder, you feel like the sun
only want me at arms reach
i’ll haunt your backyard swing
i don’t exist, at that beach
ghost the shoreline, and repeat
i don’t exist, at that beach
seasalt curls, seaside streets
you can have me if you want to
hold the letters, hold the world
you can keep me if you want to
give me soft wings, watch me unfold
you can have me if you want to
hold the letters, hold my soul
you can keep me if you want to
on your knees, try to console
it’s about those people who treat you like the whole world when you’re alone, but as soon as your dynamic can be perceived by others, it’s as if you don’t exist.
about how all the affection you’ve ever gave feels like a waste, because you’re not being acknowledged properly.
about how it feels to watch someone you love so dearly escape your presence by turning to someone else, because it’s too much to be the versions of ourselves that we only show each other when we’re alone.

Hello, you made a post about when to call boats she or it. I have a question. I used to work for a company that sold cruises. I opened the post there. And there was this person who sent us a clipping of every single newspaper ad we did along with a letter explaining to us that the boat/ship to which we were referring (a converted barge for river cruising) should be referred to as he, because that type of ship is properly referred to as he.
We never changed it, because most people call ships she. And he kept sending letters until the company went bust and stopped placing adverts in newspapers. In the end he would just mark up the clippings in red pen and post them to us.
Was he right? Does it change depending on where you are in world? (This man was British)
Are boat’s genders defined by their jobs?
Thank you for sharing your boat gender knowledge. Have a good day.
I'm also British, for my sins, and that's not usual here, boats are generally she as I described. I'm not aware of any general rule here for any type of boat to be referred to as he, although some others have told me that that's sometimes the case in the navy (I'm not involved in navy stuff, that's a whole other world).
Most people would call your converted barge a she, or maybe it if they have no poetry in their soul. I mean I know of a tour boat that's a converted sewage barge, she's still a she.
People get funny bees in their bonnet, don't they?

get out of my blood, salamander!
i can’t seem to blow off enough steam to get you out of my head
soul cycle you to death, run you out of my blood to san pedro
and yet, everywhere i go, it seems there you are,
and there i am

i don’t want to sell my stories anymore, stop pushing me
some stories aren’t meant to be sold
some words aren’t meant to be told

i want to leave them underneath the nightstand to be forgotten
or remembered should my thoughts come upon them in the middle of the night after a long beach day
or by you, some afternoon, to thumb through with your warm warm after-work hands
i love you, but you don’t understand me, i’m a real poet!
my life is my poetry, my love making is my legacy!
my thoughts are about nothing, and beautiful, and for free

you see, the things that can’t be bought can’t be evaluated, and that makes them beyond human reach
untouchable, safe, otherworldy
unable to be deciphered or metabolized

something metaphysical,
like a view of the sea on a summer day on the most perfect winding road taken in from the car window

a thing perfect, and ready to become a part of the texture of the fabric of something more ethereal

like mount olympus, where zeus sent athena and the rest of the immortals play

[Video description: a Real Ghostbusters amv set to the first pre-chorus and chorus of "Why Did I Say Okie Doki?" by The Stupendium. Full description under cut:
The amv is framed as being from Winston's perspective. Peter, Ray, Egon, and Janine are shown as the singer introduces the girls. On the "keep them hanging" line we see Winston holding onto Egon as the latter dangles off a ledge. The "just the five of us" parts feature clips of all four ghostbusters plus Janine together. On "there's something going on behind" we see Egon and Peter respectively being possessed. "I sold my soul for poetry" is Winston lamenting about selling his soul to a minor demon, and on the last line he clutches his head in torment. End desc.]

The Flood is a tabletop game by Jenna Moran about poetry mutilation and farmland financialization. Last August, Farn, Zero and I all played it. These are the results:
Where the Sidewalk Ends, by Shel Silverstein (maimed by me)
There is a place where sidewalk ends And right before the long street bends, And there the grass grows soft for friends, As under sun the road it wends And there the moon-bird rests from flight To cool in the peppermint night. Let’s leave this place where smoke blows white And dark streets wind away from sight. Yes, Ickle, Pickle, Tickle Too Go o’er sidewalk with flying shoe. “Hooray! What fun! It’s time we flew!” Say each and every -Ickle Too And Captain Ick drives Pick down streets While Tick cooks stews with beans and beets And higher, higher, in their seats Ick Pick and Tick chase sidewalk’s sweets. Past pits where asphalt flowers grow We walk a walk measured and slow, And watch where chalk-white arrows go To reach where sidewalk dare not flow. Yes, walk a walk measured and slow, And go where chalk-white arrows go, For children mark, and children know Where sidewalk ends, it ends fo’ sho’.
Question, by May Swenson (vivisected by @eternalfarnham)
Body my house my horse my spouse How will I rouse when you are soused Where will I sleep What tea will I steep What prey, like sheep Upon shall I leap Where can I go With my to all fro too late for the show How will I know in thicket ahead If my genes will spread when Body my shed- raised dog is dead How will it be to lie fancy free without cash to buy A house in Mai Lai With cloud for shift how will I grift? Body, mortgaged horse and house And rouses GDP from the thicket How can I rest? I’ll sell my shed-raised dog And we all lie fancy free in Mai Lai To profit without needing any grift But how am I meant to grift When I own such a profitable house, Comparable to a timeshare in Mai Lai And bring with them a faithful little dog Called Body to investigate thickets? Your wallet will ever be thick. It Will let you achieve results without grift Your investors? Like sheep. Just trust me, dog, Your body, like a temple, but, a house On such a venture? You can’t let this lie! But if you don’t want Mai Lai Or to eval treasures in the thicket, Away this deal, then turn to theft and grift Then let the cops slam you in the big house Where you’ll be eaten by a faithful dog. In this race I have no dog. Do I seem like the kind of girl to lie? If so, I’ll return to my giant house, Because I left you in the cruel thicket, And need therapy. But my guy has grift And back the world’s most profitable dog: The body of this poem is no grift. You can’t let this venture eternal lie As if dead, never roused from the thicket. You’ll thank me when you beat the gambling house. A thicket fit for capital’s running-dogs, In you I lie, and profit without grift.
untitled, by @cloakofshadow (grievously injured by Zerovirus)
The world was born in flame and gold, By decree of realm’s supreme, Fresh and free of painful earthly debts. You would not dare the market break, The world was born- then torn and sold, Creation’s value pierced the sky It pleases you to buy and buy and buy To know all things would surely grow in price. A thousand graphs housing bearish prices, That quaver tracking values of soft gold, Merchants follow but one goal supreme, Flee from spectres, shadows of your true debt. All souls are born in void, and break, So why not make some cash when they get sold Souls born in an empty void-like sky Know nothing but that they must buy buy buy. And all their reason works to buy Lights that cast no shadows but for price, Each night ursines fight for flecks of gold, Strive and strife and prove themselves supreme. Constant siblings are their death and debt, Each others’s skulls they crack and fiercely break. No use for pebbles that you cannot sell, No need for solid stone beneath the sky. And even you, who seeks the sky You would not dare not to buy; You’ve made the grave your lordly price And drawn all warmth from hoarded gold Atop which you take repose supreme Lest ye be taken by the cursed debt You fear to burn but shall be pleased to break What you hold but know can never sell. An empty place beside the antiques sold Rich linens shipped across the distant sky My lord has said, you shall not buy, You shall not spend, you shall not price, You shall be bold and uphold gold, You shall not fear the doom of debt, You shall fund the one true high supreme, Your assets shall not break. But wake again when you are broke, I make to you a flaming sell- And swear on god who rests in sky, That your name she sure shall buy, And till she returns next with a price, To labor for your pile of gold. Worry not about your debts, But sing praise towards the supreme. This world of gold that does not bend or break Where souls are sold and take with joy to sky The will of god is buy at any price! Debt is frail; your wealth shall reach supremes.
Apologies to the artists involved, but we did survive the Flood and made upwards of thirty three thousand imaginary dollars.

I walk to school with my best friend Surprise, surprise, she's late again She's got a club she wants me in Don't think I've ever raised a pen I'll consider it, sure No fan of literature Books with less pictures than words Leave me a little bit bored
But hey, they promised cupcakes So it's a chance that I'll take Four gorgeous girls await me Okay, I think that I'll stay
Sayori's aloof and kooky Natsuki's sweet and cutesy Yuri is deep and brooding Monika's brains and beauty There's a festival needs planning Swear I won't leave them hanging So many clubs to rival us I guess it's just the five of us
Just the five of us We can make it if we try But each day that passes by Is tearing pages from my mind
Just the five of us No escaping if I tried Though these maidens might seem kind There's something going on behind
They looked so sad and lonely I sold my soul for poetry This hell is members only Why did I say Okie-Doki?
I walk to school alone again I'm not a guy with many friends I've got no club, I've time to spend So I read manga and stay in
I run into Monika Says that I should just join hers It's a club for books with words But they need some more members
I say okay I'll come along for just one day But just you try and get away When three gorgeous girls beg you to stay
Sayori's *$$%%€€* Natsuki's brutish cutesy Yuri is too into me Monika's brains and beauty It's almost festival time Could say we're cutting it fine The task may seem laborious I wonder where Sayori is? I guess it's just the four of us
Just the four of us We can make it if we try But each day that passes by Is tearing pages from my mind
Just the four of us No escaping if I tried Though these maidens might seem kind There's something going on behind
They looked so sad and lonely I sold my soul for poetry This hell is members only Why did I say Okie-Doki
Well I'm back at school again Monika's my only friend Monika's my everything My beginning and my end My- Wait a second, weren't there other girls here? No
Monika's aloof and kooky Monika's sweet and cutesy Monika's is deep and brooding Monika's brains and beauty Monika sees right through me Monika's all that you need Monika's all that you need Monika's all that you need (all that you need, all that you need, all that you need)
I'm not an ugly guy But I can't understand why She'd be so utterly in love she'd leave her club mates to die Monika's obsession is ominous to be honest Omnipotent Goddess concocting demonic sonnets I could delete her, but I never could harm Monika So I'm trapped here forever Where's my harmonica?
Never thought I'd get a girl Literally out of this world Guess she controls the universe Looks like it's just the two of us
Just the two of us In this classroom in the sky Crimes of passion are just fine When enacted on AI
Just the two of us Quite a drastic pickup line Leaving characters to die Just to guarantee you're mine
She seemed so sad and lonely Don't think there's any hope for me This hell is members only
Why did I say Okie Dokie? Why did I say Okie Dokie? Why did I say Okie Dokie? Why did I say Okie Dokie? Why did I say Okie Dokie? W- Say O-Okie
