Regarding TFB

What does TFB stand for?

TFB originally stood for Tickle Fic Bloggers, as a tag some tickle Tumblr vets used in the early community days. It evolved to Tickle Fandom Bloggers as the community grew to include more than just fanfic writers.

Regarding Giftee Assignment

Do we get to choose which prompts/pairings we write for after we choose fandoms or is it just assigned randomly?

As the event host, I have a super fun albeit chaotic puzzle to unravel between all of the participants requests and what they feel comfortable creating for. Once I have received all of the Fandom Registrations (Due Nov 12th by midnight PST), I will go through the lists and begin pairing folks off by fandom. This isn't to say your Giftee is also making your gift, though that does occasionally happen. In an effort to create as much diversity within the pieces being made, I tend to assign from most to least niche, but there will always be plenty of more popular fandoms produced naturally.

Once you've recieve your assignment, you then have the freedom to choose within the options provided by your Giftee. For example:

Fandom One ~ Character A x B* ~ Character B* x C ~ Character A & D Fandom Two ~ Character A x B ~ Character B x C ~ Character A* x B x C Prompts ~ Scenario 1 ~ Scenario 2 ~ Scenario 3

As the Magic Maker, you then just have to choose the pairing and prompt that resonates with you the most! Such as:

Fandom 2, Pairing 3, Scenario 1

Regarding Posting Timeframe

Once the assignments are given out, are they do by December 31 or on December 31? Or just any time during that month?

Posting for the event is during the entire month of December to keep with the holiday spirit. That said, you’re more than welcome to queue it up for Dec 1st at 12:01am your time to be one of the first ones if you finish early 😁 Also, try your very hardest to have your art or fic completed and posted by December 31st as this is a holiday exchange!

We totally get that this is a super busy time of the year. If you have any problems, including needing an extension or needing to drop from the event, please please please reach out. I am here to help!

Regarding "The Featherflake" Warm-Up

What's this whole Featherflake thing about? Are we posting and tagging it?

The Featheflake is just the lil symbol in the banner and pfp for this event. Last year I had a buncha folks chomping at the bit to get started before I had the opportunity yo divvy up assignments, so thought it might be a fun idea to give y'all a warm-up activity for anyone who wanted to participate 😊

The non-flowery version of the prompt is to come up with your own interpretation of what a tickly-snowflake (hence Featherflake) would be!

For artists, you guys can design your own versions of a Featherflake.

For writers, that can either be describing it, how it differs from snow, or the lore/story behind it.

...or you can just show what happens when your fave character's interact with the Featherflakes 😏

Weekly Pond Newsletter

Everyone not in Hawaii right now is having terrible FOMO as we sit at home and watch videos of Jensen singing and playing guitar. Well, at least I am. Loving the rock star hair!! Thanksgiving in the US is this week and I, personally, will be giving thanks for everything that has contributed to his current look.

Old Business:

Secret Santa 2023 - Signups are closed and everyone has received their assigned recipients! If you have not received a message, send a message to Admin Marie!

New social media platforms - Though we have no plans to leave Tumblr, Twitter, or Discord, we may try to expand our reach to Bluesky. If nothing else, we'll create an account over there soon just to have it there. Thanks to everyone who submitted a response to our survey!

Fishing for Treasures - This weekend is FFT weekend and we are celebrating Gen fics!! Check out our queue for some quality fics that are not centered around romance. Due to the lack of submissions, y'all have been stuck with mostly fics written by Admin Michelle because she loves a gen fic. To increase participation for next year, we will be redefining the fics we celebrate in November to include any fic that does not have smut.

crushing sero does absolutely anything and everything you want him to. don't want to do the dishes tonight? don't worry your pretty little head sero doesn't mind doing it 2x in a row. oh no! you forgot the homework due for history today! sero lets you copy his answers, even if they aren't totally right. don't want to buy the schools gross lunch? sero shares his lunch with you! he wasn't going to eat it all anyways.

as for flustering sero, it's so easy for you to do. he doesn't really get red in the face because he's used to being around you but once you start talking to him his mouth suddenly goes dry and for the first time, sero doesn't know what to say, or he stutteres out wtv he wants to say.

he stares at you in class so so much and the boys give him such shit for it. bakugou does it the most. he'll catch sero gazing at you lovingly and ruins it by saying "careful you'll burn holes in the side of their face."

true story: denki walked into sero's room around noon on sunday to find sero still sleeping and cuddling with a body length pillow. ofc his response was to wait for sero to wake up and say "wishin that was y/n, huh" with the smug ass smirk. queue sero screaming in embarrassment and throwing denki out.

he also get ssooooo embarrassed by his thoughts about you. they aren't even bad !! just day-dreaming about the two of you being in a relationship and what not, but when he catches himself with that love sick smile on his face, he wants to just slap it off himself.

he goes on rants to denki, kirishima and mina about how perfect y'all would be together while you and bakugou are off getting snacks or grocery's. they talk him up to finally tell you how he feels the next day, but when that time comes around he goes back to his "they deserve some supermodel who is rich asf and can give them anything they could ever want" (aww cute but sir you ARE A SUPERMODEL.)

honestly denki, mina, kirishima, and bakugou are so so tired of watching their two friends being in love with each other, but not acknowledging it.

2020 Romione Ficlet Fest

It’s been years since there was a ficlet/short story fest and since there's a new group of writers with us, I figured it was time to bring this lovely fest idea to us for the 20's.

Toss in that there’s plenty of people who are still under stay at home orders, why not get a fest going for some wonderful Romione goodness. (and I could use the practice, too!)

Information & Rules:

1. Daily Prompts will be published for 2 weeks. There will be a word, scene, situation. Pick (1) and go from there. I don't care how it's used, just that it's in there somewhere.

2. Ficlet is 500 words or less. Short Stories are 500 - 1500 words. I know everyone (including myself) absolutely love reading chapters that are 10K in length. But it’s also talent to write a short story, too.

3. For those who want Ace Safe, I got you. The more the merrier for Ace Safe fics. If a submitted fic is over T / 15 / PG-15 rating, a Read-more line and tags will be applied to the story (for those who want the lemon zest, you have to click into it. Active & Enthusiastic Consent is very sexy!) I know plenty will want to only read MA fics. Cool. Those who want no citrus, I got you covered.

4. Ron & Hermione's relationship must feature primarily in your story. (So if Ron's talking to Harry discussing his relationship with Hermione, 'tis cool. Ron snogging Harry instead - let's wait for a Rarry fest.) Two hard and fast rules for this fest:

1. No bashing of Ron or Hermione (anonymous request)

2. No Infidelity (My request & just... No.)

5. While a beta reader isn't mandatory, it's really, really helpful and appreciated. If you need one, let me know and I'll put a request out for someone to help. This also goes for anyone who doesn't speak English as a first language. I’m sure almost everyone would be more than glad to help in any way they can.

5A. Titles are necessary (for voting purposes) even if you pull it out from the Chamber of Secrets & toss it in a chamber pot once it's finished.

6. Ficlets will be published Anonymously until after the voting is completed. This should prevent any inherent bias towards one person or another or their stories.

6A. Voting will be through SurveyMonkey (once I crash course on how to use it and the best way to make the bracket voting happen.) It will be set to 1 person, one vote for each bracket per round. No sockpuppet accounts. Let’s keep the drama in the stories and not anywhere else.

6B. Stories are subjective. What is award-winning for one might be blah for another. Please keep any comments positive in public. Even if it's not a favourite, a reblog is never remiss, even without any additional tags. Someone else might see your reblog and it is their immediate new favourite.

6C: If the story is of a sensitive nature, please add all relevant trigger warnings and notes when submitting so I can have it tagged accordingly. If not tagged, I will add tags.

6D: If anyone needs any specific tags (or what I need to look for in fics) send them in (with a name or Anonymous) and I’ll add it to a tag list (like for one who needs Not Safe for Ramadan when it comes to many things that are Haram.)

7. I will participate but am not eligible to win. I am actively choosing not to be eligible to win this prize. (I'm hosting it and purchased the grand prize and reading all the new fic ahead of time is my prize.)

8. In the event of a tie, I will vote - but only for that one particular binary bracket vote. This is a fest for the fans and followers. I will otherwise not vote. Thus, I cannot vote for myself - at all. This is for all of you.

8A. I will find a way to make the voting show up immediately so there is no shady or hinky stuff - or anyone saying I’m manipulating the polls. I don’t play that game but saying so upfront prevents any hard feelings. (I hope!)

9. Posting of Daily Prompts will be at 6pm GMT every day with a reblog at 6am GMT as well. I know we have fans abroad and I would love their stories too. More fics is never remiss - even if English isn’t your first language. If you need an additional posting time, let me know and I can set it on Queue as well.

10. Ficlets will be published as they come in. Please hold off publishing your fics on Ao3, FF, or Tumblr 'til after the Masterlist is released.

11. Ao3 publishing is still up in the air. I’m working on it. I hope to have it up and going within the next 10 days.

The lovely and very Talented @hillnerd has agreed to a commission for (1) full colour artwork 2 person (with details!) (only thing isn't a fully detailed background but y'all probably won't mind!) piece of art - for you, of your choosing (*and her pre-approved limitations.) I've paid her commission fee. The winner gets to choose what they want. All you have to do is discuss it with her what you want - and what she’s amenable to creating for you. I’m not involved in that process at all.

Sorry I'm late, y'all.

I think I was just pretending to not exist there for a minute.

Jazz Improv

1. Write a reflection on the article we read last week. (This was harder than I expected.)

2. Record the usual suspects. (I tried adding in some comping to this submission!)

Theory

3. Do a reading. (I wrote stuff to say in class down this time.)

4. Do another reading. (Short and not so sweet.)

Jazz Combo

5. Find recordings of our repertoire. (I got my recordings and I got my notes. I'm set for combo rehearsal.)

Composition

6. Compose. (Well, I'm taking forward steps, small as they are.)

7. An etude! (I missed these bad boys, too! I felt like I hadn't done one in FOREVER.)

Practice

(My music just isn't coming. It's stuck at the freaking distribution center. Suddenly I'm not so adverse to the idea of shutting down USPS.)

8. Haydn sonata. (Gotta memorize the third movement.)

9. Shostakovich preludes. (I need to up the tempo on the fifth prelude. I should also memorize it -- it's very scalar, so as long as I stabilize my fingerings, it should be very easy to memorize.)

10. Mompou canzion. (I'm pretty sure I promised Dr. Piitz I'd have this for her next week.)

11. Ravel sonatine. (I'm simply going to just start working from the IMSLP score. It's not a perfect solution but it's the best one I've got.)

Other Stuff

12. Fill the queue. (The smallest things count, y'all.)

13. Exec meeting. (That went well. For the most part, anyway.)

14. Make the slides for the next Word meeting. (All done!)

I'm going back to campus early thanks to some snow coming in -- goody on both counts! Hopefully I'll get to see some people.

Welcome back! Glad to see y'all again. If we submitted quotes that didn't go up before the hiatus, should we resubmit?

Hey! Sorry, the original mod of this blog actually quit tumblr, and I was only ever supposed to help out, not be primary mod, so I couldn’t really take over immediately after they did so. I’ve squared away some stuff now (like NaNo), and modded the queue to be a little more manageable, so the blog should be more regular from now on.

If you submitted quotes before the hiatus, they’re probably in the queue right now, actually! The queue is currently twenty-three posts long and goes up twice a day, so you should see quotes submitted before then post at some point in the next week and a half. If you don’t, the post may not have gone through the submission/messaging system properly (read: there was a tumblr glitch), or in a few cases (two or three), may have been deemed inappropriate and deleted as a result (I can’t actually remember why I took those down in particular, but I think at least one was due to racism or ableism; I remember that casual, probably unintentional bigotry certainly played a part in some extreme discomfort on my part for one of them). In any case, look forward to seeing your quotes go up soon, and feel free to submit more!

Inquiries on WIPs, lore, and what to do with both

Hi!

I hope y'all are well! I didn't expect to make a journal today, but here I am! I do hope I get some answers because I do have some thoughts and questions.

First off, I've done a lot of proofreading and re-outlining lately.

How I keep coming up with ideas, I don't know. Why I can never sit down and write prose except for when I'm meant to be doing something else is even more unknown. But at least I'm thinking, I guess. I like what I'm pondering. I have done some intensive writing, though.

I made a manip that's been done and in the queue for months, and I liked it so much that I've made a whole novella (novel?) idea for it. If I do it right, then I hope to get about twelve (12) parts from it - they're all now planned - of which I've completed seven. I'm closer to eight (8) than not, so that's good, right?

Since the pic is done and so is its relative part in the story, should I just release it/them, or should I wait until it's all done?

I've even made a Wattpad/book cover for it; that's how much I like what I'm doing.

Regarding Welcome Home, Sasha, specifically, it's been plotted for months, too. But I'm having some issues with writing an expository soliloquy, aka the explanation of what the fuck happened to Earth.

The actual information is cut-and-dry, but I don't know how to best frame it. I find Ki to be an analytical person - sensible for a scientist, I suppose - but with a flourish. Putting his brotherly, almost fatherly love of Sasha on top complicates things further since he wouldn't want to break his heart... and the answer will definitely bruise at the very least.

Luckily though, how he'll react and everything after that is as straightforward as an apocalypse can be. Will I ever write it, though?

I technically have three (3) or four (4) continuations to long fics, but I don't know why I'm not releasing them. I want to, yet I don't? Is this my mediocre perfectionism in action? Is this normal?

Syntrophy has changed in my head, like, four times, regarding the relationship between the two MCs. Their separate stories have maintained but not how they connect to each other.

I wish I was kidding. There's so much I've deleted.

I've been adding excerpts to my manips and making visuals to go with stories. Read more about that in the next section.

Secondly, I've been conceptualizing visuals like mad!

Ideas just keep coming, and they don't stop coming.

The queue is probably at peak fullness, which is cool. I was hoping I wouldn't have to widen time between posting stuff because as much as popularity doesn't affect whether I make something, I wouldn't want y'all to just forget about me. You know?

I know some people don't even have a schedule or set up expectations, so I might just say "Fuck it," and leave submission dates to RNG. It hasn't been a problem, but I don't want pressure from time restraints to become a problem. We'll see.

Like the unnamed, new fic way above, some of my ready works are images from tales not-yet-released. I've done that before numerous times, but one in particular literally happens in what would be the literal next part to post, and I'm not done with writing it, yet, at least to where I'd like it to be.

Should I post the pic anyway, despite context being right behind a corner? I kind of want to, but I've already been putting it off so much...

I just really need to get motivated and focus using Pomodoro or something. Maybe I'd knock everything out if I did.

My most recent completion from literally this morning might just be my favorite in all my years of manip-making.

Meanwhile, the one finished right before it might be the worst thing I've ever made, and its excerpt just makes it worse. I enjoyed it thoroughly, though, which makes me question myself as I'm seeing patterns...

I want to draw/paint again. I've done stuff for IRL projects but not size content.

I need inspiration to just sit down and pen for hours or days.

Would y'all mind me doing sketches again? That'd be quicker.

Lastly, the real reason why I chose to make a journal:

I'm really considering putting expanded, not-yet-seen lore for my stories on my blog site (on WordPress), and I feel like I've pondered this before.

As repeatedly mentioned, I have too many ideas but not even drive to collect them all into something worthwhile. But I'd like to get them out there somehow so others can indulge in my babies as much as I do. Some creators have blogs just for certain stories and their characters, settings, etc. that I adore, and I want to feel that in a way, too. However, most people don't have ten (10) or more stories at once that they equally love. Fuck, I need to edit my blog with more pages for more things I've conjured but isn't there, yet.

I feel that by doing so on my site,

People who do want to know how a plot of a tale will go, because I write as quickly as molasses runs yet have an outline for everything, can know.

It'll be organized as I see fit but my own control (unless WordPress does something drastic).

In addition, the data wouldn't be directly attached to the works on other sites like here, either, in case ideas change or people are averse to spoilers and want to stay away.

Reading all this over, couldn't I put the same data/lore in DA journals, Tumblr posts, etc., too, adding tags or titles to mark what's what? Couldn't I also put the works themselves that are here or even the damn music list on my site, too? Should I?

Am I overthinking this? I think I'm overthinking this.
