Anon: hiii can i request a 8th member dreamcatcher scenario? so the reader is known to be usually calm and always has one of those intimidating resting faces but when she encounters babies/kids in a fanmeet (idk if that rlly happens) she gets all smiley and caring (in a older sibling type of way if that makes sense?) and both dc and the fans just coo at the rare sight. reader tries to play it off cool, hiding the fact that shes embarrassed while being teased. thank you n you can change anything btw :)

“One, two, three...” Minji checked around the room, making sure that each member was accounted for, only for her brows to pinch together when she failed to see two people. “Where are Sua and Y/n?”

“I’m right here!” Bora raised her hands, turning the chair she was on and laughing as she waved her hand to make her presence known. “Oh, okay.” The leader laughed at herself for not noticing her friend and then continued to look around until the maknae spoke up. “Y/n unnie went to the restroom.”

Right after she said so, you came walking back inside, a bored look on your face before you took the seat that was next to Yubin and the leader let out a sigh of relief when she saw that all members were present.

“Unnie was looking for you.” Yoohyeon informs you when you sit down and you look up in confusion to meet Minji’s eyes. “The event is about to start, so I had to be sure that everyone was here.” She quickly states as you nod your head then turn back to your phone while you waited for you all to be called.

Siyeon, and soon Yubin, were off to the side, filming for Dreamcatcher’s Note before Gahyeon was joining them. “Over there, you can see our lion is trying to sleep.” Siyeon said when Yubin turned the camera to face you, seeing your eyes beginning to close while your head slowly started leaning on Handong’s shoulder.

“Ah, if Y/n unnie wasn’t so scary all the time, she would be cute.” Yoohyeon complained to the camera, a pout on her face as she looked at you and Handong, watching as the Chinese member took note of your state.

She gently pulled you closer and rested your head on her shoulder while keeping one hand under your head. “Try to nap while we’re waiting.” She instructs you and you hum while nodding your head against her shoulder, falling asleep next to her while she leaned her head against yours and smiling before she continued to read the book she had on her lap.

“How does Handong unnie do it?” Gahyeon pouted when she watched from the side and Siyeon shrugs her shoulders. “They had more chances of bonding together since they’re both foreigners and born on the same year.” Yubin explains calmly before they momentarily said goodbye to the camera and turned it off.

While your members didn’t really have any problems with you, they had all admitted that you could be quite intimidating from afar. The stoic and expressionless face you wore most of the times made it difficult to approach you, and with your usually calm and quiet nature, conversations never usually lasted unless your members pushed for it or you actually got in the mood with talking.

You had your own ways of showing your members and fans your affections. Similar to Yubin, you had your moments where you would let your façade fall and act like a complete fool along with your members, which earned you the title of being Dreamcatcher’s most normal member.

“She babies you a lot though, what are you complaining for?” Yoohyeon asked the maknae with an incredulous look. “Yeah, but sometimes I don’t know if it’s really okay with unnie. I don’t want her to be annoyed with me.” She replied with a frown. “Ah, but you are annoying?” Siyeon asked teasingly, earning a pout from the maknae as Yubin and Yoohyeon burst into laughter.

“I’m just kidding. I’m sure Y/n isn’t annoyed with you.” Siyeon patted her arm reassuringly. “It’s understandable to worry around Y/n. She rarely expresses what she’s thinking so sometimes you end up wondering ‘should I do this’ or ‘is this okay’.”

“We all know she loves us though.” Yoohyeon said confidently. “That’s right.” Yubin agreed. “I can’t be too sure about Yoohyeon, but Y/n has told us that she loves us.” She added, making the Lee sisters laugh while Yoohyeon pouted. “Yah!”

When a few minutes finally pass and the staff had given them the okay, Minji looked to everyone before waving to get Handong’s attention. “Dongie-ah, please wake Y/n up. It’s time to go out.” The younger girl nodded her head before she put her book down and gave you a small nudge.

The movement was enough to wake you. Squinting, you look around before yawning and stretching your arms and legs. “Ah, how cute!” Bora’s loud voice rang in your ears as she watched you with a wide smile. “Y/n-ah, wakey wakey. InSomnias are waiting.” Siyeon tells you when Handong stands while grabbing your hand, aware that you would take too long to really get up if she didn’t.

“Does my make up look alright?” You ask and the redhead fixes your hair a bit back in place and then patted your cheeks. “Perfect.” You couldn’t help the light roll of your eyes at her antics but follow her out as Minji leads you all to the stage.

The cheering of the people there was much louder than you had expected it to be and the sound of shutters going off from fansites added to it, yet all was the same. You kept a straight face, even as you got to your place and did your introduction like always.

While talking with fans though, you would give them a small smile every time a new one came over to you. You were situated in the third to the last chair, followed by Minji and then Bora, who have decided to start messing around with each other before they decided to target you for their amusement.

While you were waiting for the next fan to sit in front of you and JiBo have both stopped pestering you, your boredom led you to just playing with the toys some people had given you before looking around and making eye contact with various of your fansites.

Deciding to give them something new, you gathered up the little hearts in front of you and then signaling for them to be ready, which they eagerly did so. With a devil’ horns headband on top of your head, you then threw the hearts up into the air before resting your elbows on the table, fingers laced together under your chin with the same intimidating stare you would give during performances.

Yoohyeon, who sat to your left, looked over with wide eyes as some of the hearts fell on her. “Yah! I’m right here!” She complained with an adorable angry puppy face whilst you leaned back against your chair and simply smirked at her, head cocked to the side. “Yoohyeonnie is upset.” You use the same teasing tone she always uses, causing her pout to surface before she started hitting your arm and shoulder.

When the fan finally moves from Yoohyeon to you, you offer them a smile before signing their album and accepting the letter they handed to you while Yoohyeon seemed to be overexcited this time when she conversed with the fan that was with her.

Shifting to the next person, you said goodbye to the previous one before your eyes fell on the little girl that was sitting before you. Your eyes widened and look at her to make sure you weren’t hallucinating from the lack of sleep, but she giggles at your reaction before waving her hand.

“Wow, hello! You’re so tiny.” You couldn’t help uttering out, making the girl giggle even more. You notice the paper bag she was carrying and it looked like it was nearly the half of her height. “Isn’t that heavy?” You ask curiously, but she shakes her head and lifts it up for you to see.

“Nope! I only have gifts for you, Jiu unnie, and Sua unnie so it isn’t very heavy.” She explains with a wide smile that seemed infectious because you end up grinning while leaning over the table to offer your hands, ones she happily takes.

Yoohyeon, who had been carefully watching the exchange, could not believe her eyes as she watched your icy persona melt away in front of such a small child. She looked scandalized when you even began such an easy conversation with the girl when you accepted the scrapbook handed to you.

“How old are you?” You had asked, arms laying on the table with your head down just so you could see her better. “Nine. My birthday is next week!” Hearing that had caused your smile to wide, more than it already was, and the way fans were reacting and calling your name had made your members looking over, minus the tallest one that sat beside you and was already witnessing this new display.

Your smile lasted on your face much longer than the other times you would interact with fans and they could actually see the affection and fondness radiating from you as you continued to speak with the girl.

“What’s this?” Bora asked out loud, something you were able to ignore with your attention solely on the person in front of you. “She’s not even listening!” Gahyeon said in disbelief as you continued to play around with the girl, laughing when she explained how her older sibling was the one who brought her there but were separated with the order of who met you first.

“Oppa, oppa, the camera!” You called out to your manager while Siyeon looked to the crowd and pointed at you, almost accusingly. “Yah! What did you give Y/n?” She demanded playfully while Handong held a hand to her mouth, laughing in disbelief as they all watched you hand the fan a picture.

Finally having to move to the next person, you reluctantly said goodbye, a visible pout on your features while you waved your hand. And since Minji was the next person she would be seeing, your leader did not hesitate when she beamed at her. “You broke our little cub’s curse of never smiling! Thank you!”

It didn’t help that she had said it, purposefully, into the microphone and you quickly snapped back into the straight face you usually wear, only to have Yubin come after you. “No, no, that’s not working. Everyone, you have that recorded, right?” At their confirmation, you had to cover your face with your hand and try to focus on the fan who was now in front of you, but even they were giggling at the sudden affection you had just shown all of them.

“You must really love kids.” They comment and you sheepishly rub the back of your neck before nodding. “I guess you could say that. I have a niece back home and my parents have told me that I spoil her too much.” You reply, acting as nonchalant as possible even as your members were making comments.

“Omo! It looks like our Y/n isn’t as scary as we thought.” Minji laughed when she signed the album for the little girl and then gave her a thumbs up. “Now, we know the secrets to this lion.” She says gleefully and you could see the shit eating smirk on Bora’s face, knowing that she was already thinking of ways on how to annoy you with this new found information.

You let out a deep breath before rubbing your face and then facing the fan that sat in front of you with a smile on their face. “If it’s any consolation, I think it’s really nice that you have this kind of side to you. A lot of people have been trying to say you were some sort of robot, but we InSomnias will be sure to prove them wrong.” They grinned at you before finally moving over to your leader.

And with that incident, your members did not fail in making comments about you until the end of the eventeven when you tried to act like your usual self. They knew not to push to much, but having discovered this softer and more affectionate side of yours, all previous worries they had was washed away with the knowledge that this fierce and intimidating mask you had was simply that, a mask that hid who you really were.

When you get backstage, Gahyeon clings to you while Yoohyeon and Bora proceed with their onslaught of questions. Handong joins in on the teasing, but her teasing does not only direct to you, but to the rest of your members as well. Siyeon was too busy laughing her ass off at one of Handong’s comments on how you probably didn’t see any of them as children, thus Gahyeon’s offended expression.

Yubin could only you a light pat on the shoulder, grinning because she knows that Bora’s attempt with messing with her would now be directed to you as well while Minji shook her head, though questioned you about your affection towards children. Since she’s heard bits of your earlier conversation with a fan, she couldn’t help but wonder what you were like when you were at home.

Though in the end, it didn’t change the fact that you did see them as family, just not one you found yourself having to constantly act as a child, which they were honestly fine with. But when you let your affections be more prominent during certain days, they know that those are days they need to cherish the most.

While you were quiet and reserved, they made it their own mission to break those walls down until you’re free to really act like yourself even if it were just them as your company.

An entirely objective rewiew of episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

Legend: red is bad (or rather: dumb shit I can't ignore), blue is objective good, black is neutral and orange is random shit I love (aka subjective good).

Okay, the exposition following the title crawl just makes me feel like I've somehow missed a movie, or two. All of this happened in the span of, what? A couple months? A year? We aren't told.

I was going to ask why Kylo Ren was even looking for Palpatine in the first place, but you know what? I don't really care. I won't complain about Ben in this movie.

Palpatine can see the future, right? That's the only way this makes sense. I mean, he's telling Kylo to "kill the girl" (and presumably become Emperor of the Galaxy?) but... why? Later, he'll want Rey to kill him and become Empress, but then he'll just want to kill her, too. Is Palpatine an idiot, or is he just insane?

"She's not who you think she is." Honey, she's not who the screenwriters thought she'd be.

I genuinely love the Finn/Poe/Chewy/Rey dinamic in this movie. They don't feel like friends yet (which they shouldn't), but there's still a camaraderie and genuine caring for one another there. It's great.

"How do we thank you?" - "Win the war."

Rey is a badass, as per usual. Also, I love how Kylo's just fucking with her here. That girl could cut him in half.

"Somehow Palpatine returned." The 'somehow' is a key word there.

Oh, good, Rose is a non-character now.

While I adore the actors' chemistry, Rey doesn't really need this big of a party to come with her. Chewy's the co-pilot, so his presence is justified, then Finn could come as well and use the blasters, Poe too, because him and Finn didn't get enough screentime in the last movie, but the droids? No. Have them stay with Leia. We don't need C-3PO explaining everything to us, thank you very much.

Oh, yeah. That reminds me.

C-3PO.

They're foreshadowing C-3PO and Leia's deaths so hard here.

The mother-daughter dinamic between Leia and Rey is good. That's all.

That mask was left in pieces. Is it even possible to fix at this point?

Oh, cool, the Knights of Ren exist. For about three minutes of screentime.

The humor in this movie works pretty well for me. Hux's assurance that Kylo looks, in fact, great, is gold.

The New Guy.

"Serving another master?" - "No." Um, yeah? Yeah, you are. What is your plan, Kylo Ren? Because, to me, it see that y- Oh, yeah, I've promised to leave him be. Shit.

A simple conversation would have made this movie so much shorter and so, so much better. "Oh, hey, Rey. Where you off to?" - "Yo, Ben. Oh, you know, looking for Palpatine so that I can kill him." - "Oh, cool. That was my plan, too. Wanna come with?" - "Sure." - "He's your grandfather, btw." - "Cool. Wanna rule the Galaxy?" - "Sure.

Rey's over here casually cutting ships into pieces.

Also, I love how people complain that Rey is OP in this scene, while Kylo just strolls away from a burning husk of a ship, unscathed.

"The inscription that was on the dagger is in your memory?" Yeah, that's how computers works, Poe.

Also, I love how no one cares about shat C-3PO thinks/wants. These characters and this script dislike him as much as I do.

The No-Thank-You droid is adorable.

"You were a spice runner?" - "Were you a Stormtrooper?"

Babu Frik. Baby Yoda ain't got nothing on this guy.

Daisy Ridley is sooo so good in this movie.

"Does she do that to us?"

"I pushed you in the desert-" Baby, you struggled in the desert.

The directing of this scene is so good!

"I'm the spy." (I love it 'cause it makes me laugh. Hux is such a petty little shit that he'll join the Resistance just to see Kylo lose. I appreciate that."

Rey being a Palpatine bothers me about as much as the CGI Carrie Fisher, which is to say: a little bit.

"People keep telling me they know me; I'm afraid no-one does" with Kylo Ren's leitmotif playing in the background. *chef's kiss*

That blade is the most plastic-looking thing I've ever seen. (The Wayfinder)

"Babu Frik! He's one of my oldest friends." Alright, 3PO, that was pretty funny.

I have literally nothing to say about the next fifteen minutes, or so. I feel bad for these actors. Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver have gorgeous chemistry, and though they're trying their damndest, you can kind of tell that they're weary of these movies by now.

Two words: Harrison fucking Ford.

This scene.

"I know what I have to do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it."

Good job, honey. Now you have no weapon for the final battle. Takes after Anakin, this one.

Every ship is a Star Destroyer.

"A Jedi's weapon deserves more respect."

The reverse Kylo Ren leitmotif that's within Rey's theme playing while Rey is wondering why everyone trusts her despite her being a Palpatine is kind of cute.

As I watch the Resistance/First Order battle unfold, I can't help but wonder why they can't just- sign a peace treaty. How long has this war been going on for? Surely, they must've gotten bored of fighting.

Oh, but I do love the design of Palpatine's throne.

"I never wanted you dead. I wanted you here." I feel like you don't really know what you want, sir.

I love how confused Rey looks while Palpatine talks about how much she apparently hates him.

Ben's just been chillin' for the past 20-ish minutes. I like the redeemed theme they've made for him, though.

Why are the Knights of Ren here? They should be loyal to their Master, no? Also, Ben, honey, you have the Force. You've used it in the first movie to stop a blaster shot mid-air. Surely, levitating six people way up in the air, then letting them fall into the chasm below can't be much more difficult.

This battle. Also, I love how the Knights back the fuck up when Rey sends Ben the saber.

And now he wants to be the Emperor. WHAT DO YOU WANT?!

Ow. That's- that's a broken spine right there. Good thing our dude's indestructable.

I realize I'm quoting Sideways here, but seriously, why don't they play the Force Theme when Rey communicates with every Jedi ever?

The final scene between Ben and Rey (minus the kiss - y'all know how I feel about shoehorned romance). It's still so, so beautiful. This scene is more beautiful than this movie - nay, this franchise - deserves.

Oh, is the Stormtrooper lady Lando's daughter? That's... You know what, actually? I don't care.

The ending is so damned strange. She just returned to Jakku, disposes of Leia's and the Skywalker lightsabers (rude!), steals BB-8 and just- nothing.

I do like her new lightsaber, though. It suits her.

Yeah, there's one Skywalker missing next to Luke and Leia. I guess that Rey just didn't give a shit about him, huh? Oh, well.

This movie is odd to me. Many people hate it, some like it, but I'm in this in-betweeny stage. I like it more than The Last Jedi, but only because I don't observe these two movies as agregates, but more as collections of good and bad scenes (since they both feel scrapped together), and thus, RoS just has more elements which I like, though it's objectively the worst movie of this trilogy. Rey is the best she's ever been, Ben Solo is *chef's kiss*, Poe is awesome, Finn is... there (the underdevelopment of this character is still the worst thing they've done), but he does have some good moments, some of the side characters are pretty great (the long helmet lady and Babu Frik come to mind immediately), the music is always a highlight and... yeah.

As for the negatives, Palpatine is right up there. His plan is stupid. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Other than that and the demolition of Rose Tico, everything else are nitpicks for me. This movie could have been great only if they'd scrapped this story entirely and either:

a) made an entirely new movie and utilized some of the original concepts they had, or

b) made at least two new movies with the ideas presented here.

Overall, I've enjoyed this movie. It's one of those movies which I can watch after a long day of studying to relax my brain a bit, one that is supposed to be thought about as much as the scriptwriters have done - which is to say, a bit.

Younger post-ep ramble 6x08

When episodes of TV shows are touted as 'epic' or 'game changing' I tend to proceed with caution, because chances of it living up to the hype are generally pretty slim. When it comes to Younger though, I should know better than to doubt such claims and 'Debu-taunt' (another pun-tastic title btw) really has changed the game and delivered some of the most poignant and meaningful character interactions of the series. This week's episode got back to the core of what this show is about: the female friendships in all their complexity. We saw lovely moments that deepened Diana and Liza's romantic relationships too of course, but these ultimately amplified the supportive and supporting role the men play in the women's lives. I've gotta say, I found this week's ramble hard to write because where do you start with an episode you've been anticipating for so long? The beginning, let's start at the beginning...

The episode opens with Liza and Charles living out some kind of domestic morning fantasy (minus the grapefruit for me thanks) and seeing the townhouse kitchen area in the daylight was something new, it's so much bigger than I realised! The entire scene is so aesthetically pleasing, particularly the Charles-in-a-vest-and-shirt situation as well as coordination of tie and Liza's dress, but of course it serves the far greater purpose of letting us know that Liza has fully integrated into the lives of Nicole and Bianca, right down to helping with homework and offering to drop a forgotten report off at school. It has been quite a few seasons since we saw or heard from the Brooks children and I fully appreciate catching a glimpse of Charles in dad-mode on the phone to Bianca, it's easy to forget that these characters have these other dimensions to their lives (speaking of which, is there some kind of alert out for Caitlin at this point? The lack of texts or calls or mentions is curious...Caitlin, if you're reading this, we're not mad, just let us know you're ok). Charles' gratitude to Liza for going to the school naturally makes my sappy heart swell, the 'I don't deserve you' only made better by his tardiness not being enough to stop him going back for a second kiss goodbye.

Pesky climate change forces Liza to discover she does not have a coat at Charles', but fortunately for her there is an entire closet full of coats, which naturally she does not question and is definitely not some kind of set up for a run in with the ex. Except it is of course and even as a viewer I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me watching Pauline ask Liza if the unexpectedness of their run in is why she is wearing her coat (seriously, I'm overwhelmed with second hand embarrassment typing this). Also, what was Pauline doing there? Just hanging out at the school for reasons or was she lurking in case Charles turned up with the report so she could catch a peek of him in a three-piece? While this remains a mystery (though who could blame her lbh), Pauline's desire to 'bury the hatchet' with Liza was def suspicious, but a nice distraction from the cringe-worthy, 'Bianca mentioned that she had two mommies' comment Mrs. Clipper makes before it's decided that Liza should be added to the pick-up list as she will 'be around for the long haul'. I am so grateful to see Liza showing that she is committed to and wants the life she has chosen with Charles in this episode. Regardless of what happens down the track, it's nice to see this character backing her own choices and decisions for now.

Any seasoned television watcher's alarm bells no doubt went off when Pauline cited the divorce negotiations as 'more or less behind us' (and again when Charles mentioned that 'it seems the worst is over' at the coffee station) because we all know that in the land of TV this 100% means it's only a matter of time before they will not be.

Keeping in the theme of wonderful character interactions, I may never get used to Charles and Liza just hanging out in the office (particularly Charles hovering around as an editor instead of the boss, but I am here for it until the end of time) and his adoring gaze as Liza recalls the awkward horror of her interaction with Pauline is topped off with a shared Harry Potter appreciation moment and honestly, these two and their nerd love, I cannot. The way the conversation about Liza moving in unfolded was so natural and yes, the answer is ALWAYS YES Liza when Charles Brooks suggests starting each day waking up together (insert swoon here). It turns out Liza doesn't overthink it, cue guilt pie and Pinot Noir with Maggie.

These two are friendship goals times a thousand and Maggie's unwavering support upon hearing Liza talk about how she knows it's fast but it feels right epitomises the way these two only want one another's happiness (even if Maggie's expression as Liza goes to call Charles and tell him she will be moving in indicates she is going to very much miss her roommate). I loved hearing about and imagining them drinking wine and binging The Great British Bake Off and just how well they know and value one another, ugh, I could not gush more about all of it and this whole exchange felt like such a treat. I was envisioning Kelsey moving in once Liza moved out and I'm still holding out hope for this to happen when Liza does eventually make the move (remaining optimistic on this one even though I do pine for Liza/Maggie loft moments).

The sneak peek for this week showed us yet another golden interaction and that was, of course, Diana telling Charles about her engagement to Enzo. The main takeaways are a) Diana referring to herself as Charles' work wife and Charles's amused smile; b) Diana asking Charles for his blessing and him not really knowing why but giving it and; c) the longest hug in the world as Diana coaxes Charles into announcing her engagement to the office. I love that the interactions between these two always have a slightly awkward undertone but there is genuine care and warmth too. Diana telling Charles that he has always been able to read her like a book (lol) and the two sitting there with their hands together was just such a testament to their fabulously wacky relationship.

What better way to ensure that any DRAH-MAH unfolds in an overwhelmingly public forum than the morning meeting reveal that there is a Publishers Weekly Debutante Ball (for first time authors) thrown every year! Turns out this is the event of the season, despite it being the first time Liza has heard about it (to be fair she has probs been distracted by the faux millennial facade previous years so didn't clock that this was a legit thing). I am digging Kelsey heading up and holding her own in these meetings, she is definitely stepping up to her new role it seems and I am keen to see how it continues to develop. And those little looks across the conference room table between Charles and Liza, I see you.

Zane's gears still seem stuck on obnoxious since last ep, first throwing in Jake Devereux as a suggested author for the deb (a clear jab at Kelsey) and then putting his foot in it after hearing Diana's news by suggesting that DeLuca is 'better than Trout'. First of all, who in their right mind would say that out loud, let alone assume an established woman in her 40's (or any woman for that matter) is going to take a new husband's surname? Though Diana DeLuca is pretty great, I could definitely see her using it as an alias during future hi-jinx (preferably with Liza now that they can be actual proper friends, but I'm getting ahead of myself).

Right from the get go Her Majesty D. Trout is taking none of Zane's rubbish, asking him to use his words when he finally offers up PTB as a deb option and her zero tolerance for insolence continues when she corrects his question of who she's engaged to with, 'to whom'. At this stage of my love for this character, I'm really just wondering what sized portrait of Diana I should put in my shrine to her. This all comes out after Charles is prompted to announce Diana's big news (I'm kind of loving that Charles is a bit hopeless at remembering these sorts of details, last week when he'd failed to mention Bob and Julia would be on their table, then this week with the announcement...soon enough we'll be regaling ourselves with a collection of these, and we'll laugh and shake our heads as we mutter 'classic Chaz' under our breath) and it is of course Liza's reaction that is next level and so freaking OTT and I love it with every fibre of my being. Seriously, her yell-cheering and clapping is me in any excitement-inducing situation. My love for her love of Diana starts here and embarks on one hell of a ride from here onward during this ep.

While this episode certainly had a more serious tone than some others (I think this was definitely emphasised by the music choices too, there was a distinct lack of the usual pop/vocal and much more instrumental), Liza following Diana into her office semi-screeching, 'I'm so excited, why aren't you more excited?' met by Diana's 'Liza, please deactivate yourself', was hilarious. Diana asked Liza to be maid of honour in a way only Diana could and I tell you what, I damn delighted in that one hug a year. Everything about this scene was SO good, which of course meant that there was a dagger waiting right around the corner to plunge into our rib-cages and shatter our hearts into a million pieces (I wish I was being dramatic but where is the lie?)

That dagger's name is Pauline and it's during lunch that Liza discovers her real motivation for being all chummy and that is wanting Liza to help with her new book. Always a smart cookie, Liza agrees, in exchange for Pauline attending the Debutante Ball as Millennial's deb (I have to admit I did chuckle with the 'do you need to borrow a dress?' line). Despite dodgy af being Pauline's general modus operandi, I actually do think she was being sincere in her initial offer to move forward and let the whole 'you're-now-with-my-husband-and-my-kids-love-you-maybe-more-than-me-because-I-abandoned-them-for-a-year-at-a-pivotal-point-in-their-development' thing slide for the sake of maintaining some sort of relationship with her soon-to-be ex-husband and their children. If only she knew that the reason Liza understood her better than any of her current editors was because they were basically the same age and had similar life experiences...

...well THANK GOD for Mrs. Clipper, the true villain of the episode if you ask me, who quite frankly can't seem to get her paws on that copy of Liza's drivers license fast enough after Pauline tells her that men in her circle are always leaving their wives for assistants in their twenties. I might be off on an island on my own here, but you know what, I actually felt sorry for Pauline in this moment. In her mind Charles has also been deceived and by extension, her children, so I completely understand her initial reaction and feeling that she needs to tell Charles immediately and rescue him from this betrayal.

That all goes down at the Debutante Ball because it must of course, but first we catch Kelsey, Lauren and Zane reminiscing about their own proms at this prom for grown ups, with Lauren here for it and we unsurprisingly discover Zane was prom king (I heart Lauren's 'that tracks' comment). You always know whatever's about to go down is extra EXTRA when you see a couple of characters blissfully happy and unaware everything is about to implode, such as Charles and Liza celebrating their moving-in milestone, before Liza is whisked away backstage. When Charles is confronted by frantic Pauline and she discovers he knew about the lie too, I could imagine that up until that point she thought this would be something that would bond them in outrage, but it ended up being just another blow. While Pauline clearly has impulse issues and a pretty prominent vindictive streak, I do think it's one thing to wrap her head around her husband falling in love with a younger woman (though I do not understand on what planet Pauline thought she could piss off for a year on her own terms with zero communication and then just return to her life and there would be no upheaval) but the discovery that it was someone she could consider a peer would cut deeper.

As Pauline latched on to Liza's arm, it was like watching a live animal being led into the lion enclosure at dinner time. I'm breaking out in a stress sweat just thinking about this scene, even though you could see it coming it was utterly shocking to watch unfold. The announcer emphasising that theirs was the only partnership in which the mentor was younger ensured the dagger was perfectly lined up before Pauline once again applied some revisionist history to her abandonment of the family, making a point of coming across as the blameless victim whose husband was 'lost' to the assistant standing beside her. As Pauline keeps talking Charles is clearly wary and concerned about where this is going and Kelsey quickly clues in just as Pauline drops that Liza is in fact 42 years old and the entire room gasps and murmurs and revels in the audacious reveal.

Enter Diana and that dagger is twisted well and truly into my fragile heart as she immediately assumes that 'this woman is deranged' and jumps to the defence of Liza, despite Charles and Liza trying to stop her. The fact that Diana tells Charles that she will not let this woman 'slander us', that she sees them as one united team, and holds Liza in such high esteem that she would put her own fear of making a scene aside to protect Liza's integrity, only made Liza's confirmation that 'it's true' even more heart-shattering. Miriam Shor deserves every damn award created for her acting in this entire episode, but the last 10 minutes in particular are nothing short of phenomenal. When Diana realises that Charles and Kelsey knew and that she had just made a spectacle of herself in front of a room full of the most important people in publishing, her need to escape is understandable and a panic attack is not an unreasonable physical response to such a huge revelation in such a public forum (I mean I was basically having one watching it all tbh).

Enzo's relief upon hearing that it was a panic attack is palpable and the interaction between him and Diana in the hospital may well be my favourite between these two yet. We see Diana as we've never seen her in this series; vulnerable, emotional, no necklace and no makeup. Always one to deliver a stellar line, her response to Enzo's 'how are you?', 'I'm fine, I've just lost trust in humanity as a whole, but other than that I'm fine', was on point and Enzo's response that 'she looks good' when Diana shares Liza's true age was A+ (for line and delivery). It is Diana's embarrassment at being that 'village idiot' when everybody else knew (I really wanted to somehow jump into my screen in that moment and tell her that Lauren and Zane didn't know either, it's not just you!) that took my heart pieces and trampled on them some more. I think it's because she is always so composed and controlled, but seeing Diana holding onto Enzo and saying that she just wants him, demonstrates how much he steadies her and allows her to be herself.

Just outside the room, Charles and Liza face a step back as Pauline has phoned to say she wants to re-visit the custody agreement (which I really struggle to see the relevance of or how Liza saying she was younger is anywhere near as bad as up and leaving your two small children for a year but sure, I'll play along for the sake of drama), which means that they cannot move in together as planned, Liza's lie has now impacted the man she loves as well as Diana and Charles feels responsible for Pauline exposing Liza the way she did. Liza reassuring Charles that he was just protecting her and the way he pulled her in to comfort her made any remnants of my shattered heart swell. It was such a tender moment between them and there was something about the parallel of Enzo comforting Diana in the room at the same time, whether intentional or not, that really stressed the uncertainty and distress both women were experiencing.

Josh phoning Liza to give her a hard time about being an upper East side lady was actually a really nice way to see this friendship developing (I would definitely expect my friends to do that) because had the timing not been so atrocious, I assume it would've been an otherwise pleasant conversation in which he would be happy for her (that's what I'm going with anyway). Obviously this call was to show that Liza's lie has once again stonewalled her and stopped her being able to move forward in her life and that she feels she's messed up everything at work and for Charles with his kids. Since learning that there were a number of deleted scenes, including the one in which Diana got her engagement ring, I must say that I feel like the phone call could probably have been omitted in lieu of progressing Diana's story for this episode and the choice to include it definitely feels like an extremely contrived attempt to stoke the triangle.

The fallout from the age reveal will no doubt play out over the coming episodes, however Lauren and Zane are still trying to wrap their heads around it the next morning (and again Zane, why on EARTH do you think you would've been someone who should know this information? I think I can count on one hand the number of conversations I've seen Liza and Zane have. Actually, no I can't because it's so few I can't even remember one) but I will say that I paused on the article Lauren is reading and Jackie Dunn has given a statement in it and this show, I swear, it outdoes itself even when no-one might notice. I appreciated Kelsey's itchy scalp to emphasise the stress of the situation and Lauren addressing Liza as 'Ma'am' was pretty darn funny (though I am a bit surprised at Lauren's reaction. I thought she'd be more intrigued and want to know all the details of how she did it etc.) But it is the final 3 minutes of this week's episode that absolutely blew me away and left me quite literally crying on the train as I watched.

There have been moments that have made me tear up and certainly times when character interactions have held such meaning on this show that the feelings are many, but there really never has been a scene like the one between Diana and Liza at the end of this week's episode of Younger. Diana's minimal make up and jewellery emphasised the rawness and realness of the entire exchange. Diana saying that she wouldn't have hired Liza if she'd known and Liza being able to say, 'exactly', made the point of why she told the initial lie so simply. In that moment Diana can understand Liza's need to lie about her age, but it is Diana's search for why, beyond that initial deceit, did Liza fetch her coffee and lunch and her urine samples...and hold her hand on the red carpet and convince her to go after Enzo...that she needs to know if everything else was real or was it part of the ploy to uphold the lie. Seeing Diana with her heart on her sleeve, needing to know if her perception of their relationship was a farce, was one of the most powerful moments, if not THE most powerful moment of this series.

The resolution, that ‘honesty is the best policy’ and that Liza is no longer her maid of honour but her ‘old maid of honour’ could not have been more perfect. And in case I wasn’t already a blubbering mess, Diana’s emotional, ‘I just want to say...’ which Liza instinctively answered with, ‘I love you too’ did me in completely and honestly, the whole thing is so sublime, what an absolute gift. No words I write can do justice to the incredible performances of Miriam Shor and Sutton Foster so I really can only suggest you go and watch the final scene again for yourself.

This episode of Younger really was something else. After five and a half seasons, Liza is finally free from her lie, she can FINALLY live her life without wondering if or when or how it is going to catch up with her. It feels like a big sigh of relief. For me this episode also showed how much more compelling it is for the drama to sit in the space of these women navigating friendships and work dynamics and how much the focus on the triangle detracts from what this show is actually about. It's not that often you get to watch an episode of a show you love and think, 'that episode is going to go down as one of the best in the series', but 'Debu-taunt' will without a doubt hold it's place as one of the best.

My thoughts on Sean & Finn’s kiss

This will be long and of course contain spoilers, as if you can’t tell by the title... thingy. So, be warned. This will also contain my opinion(s); which is a very sensitive subject in this fandom.

We’re all entitled to our own thoughts, opinions, beliefs, etc.

With that said, let’s get started!

For those who are new to this game... I will give you a short summery. Life is Strange is a video game series ran by DontNod. A great company who loves to make players cry. This season has new characters from the other season and DLC. This season takes place in Washington where you play as a 16 year old boy, Sean Diaz, who’s a regular teenager. He loves drawing, skating, and of course stereotypical teen stuff such as drugs and parties. Taking away the partying and drug usage, he’s your typical shy-ish guy. He also has a little brother named Daniel, he’s 9 years old.

Both of them are Hispanic, including their father (Esteban), making this season’s cast more diverse than the first season, where the main characters were mainly white.

Speaking of their father, he dies. Yep. After Sean forces Daniel out of his room, Daniel runs to their hot-headed neighbor and accidentally spills homemade zombie blood on him. Sean over see’s the neighbor about to hurt Daniel and rushes out the house, protecting him. After a few racial slurs/crude remarks to Daniel, Sean decides to fight him. Sean shoves the neighbor onto a small rock (which I still dont understand how that injured him), and he lays on the ground in shock/going unconscious.

A cop shows up and hell breaks loose. The cop only see’s the “blood” on the neighbors shirt and Daniels, thinking nothing but the worst of the situation rather than questioning them. The dad comes out, trying to reason with the officer and he gets trigger happy, shooting Sean & Daniel’s dad, killing him. Daniel screams in shock/anger/horror and Sean blacks out. Whenever he wakes up, the entire street is destroyed and more people are dead/unconscious. He grabs Daniel and they runaway, not wanting to get involved with the crime. It’s later found out that Daniel has powers (similar theme to LIS season 1) and can move objects with his mind.

More shit happens, yada yada yada.

NOW.

Episode 3 just released. In episode two, the brothers meet quite a few people. But most notably for this post, Cassidy and Finn. These two are regular friends (or maybe even “fuck buddies” as Finn and another girl described their relationship), who are a lot like Sean and Daniel. Cassidy left her old home life to live on the road. Finn, I can’t remember if he said anything or not. But I would think it would be for the same reason or something crime related.

Anyways, point is, they all group together and live in the woods. But, they all also work for this dude who runs a farm with nothing but pot.

Yep.

A nine year old and sixteen year old kid are working at a pot farm.

This leads to Finn, Cassidy, and Sean to get high, drunk, etc.

Finn get’s a hair up his ass and decides; “Hey, why don’t we steal all the cash from our boss? Who cares if he may know about Sean & Daniel’s backstory, has security footage evidence of them, and shotguns?!”

Cassidy is against this. But you, the player, have the option to accept or refuse his plan to rob the big dude with the cash.

And in the words of Chloe Price from season one; he’s got some “hella cash”

SORRY I HAD TOO.

But still, you can either rob from the guy or go against it. But HO HO HO! This choice doesn’t matter that much. Finn does it anyways (with a fUCKING NINE YEAR OLD HELPING HIM AND RISKING THAT KID’S LIFE) and Cassidy gets upset and worried. So, if you disagree with Cassidy, you end up meeting with them anyways so you can stop them. You get in trouble either way, btw.

But, let’s back it up.

If you agree to join Finn’s plan, he’s happy and you have the chance to romance him. Which, at first thought (including mine), was great! In the first season, Max was bisexual. You can flirt/romance with Chloe and/or Warren. With Sean romancing Cassidy and Finn, the developers made him bisexual.

But... it’s not all roses. Let me give you my first reaction. I do actually have it recorded.

If you don’t watch it, basically I was excited and shocked. I didn’t like Finn at first but in that moment, I shipped them. I wanted Sean to be happy and happy enough to open up about his sexuality, if he hadn’t already.

But, I realized something.

Finn is most likely 20+. Sean is still 16. This means Finn is an older guy kissing a minor, which is of course, illegal. Not to mention that earlier in that episode, he was teaching Daniel to throw knifes and such. He smokes and drinks and admits his sexual relationships in front of a kid, too.

Speaking of his sexual relationships, it would be highly toxic if Sean and him dated/had casual sexual intercourse. Just based on Sean’s personality and how he had a crush on that Jen girl in the first episode, and how close him and Cassidy warmed up to each-other, he wears his heart on his sleeve. One thing this season has done WONDERFULLY is not distribute toxic masculinity. Sean and Daniel have both cried several times. Most men don’t like to talk/show their feelings because they feel weak and such, which is horrible. No guy should feel that way and should openly express them-self.

Sean does this, which is amazing. Yet, still can harm him.

Right after you agree to Finn’s plan, you can kiss him. Throughout the episode, he also flirts with Sean. Of course you have the CHOICE to kiss him... but it’s only after you accept his agreement. You can kiss Cassidy (and sleep with her) but she will storm off, angry, without kissing you, if you agree to Finn’s plan. Which is reasonable. Or, you can lie to her, saying you thought his plan was dumb, and she’ll kiss you. Both reasonable (in my opinion) responses to each situations.

But, how come you can’t kiss Finn regardless? Sean can say no and they could still talk about their feelings, leading to a kiss. Instead, they do nothing.

Finn is manipulative. He used Sean’s emotions to get to him. He probably noticed how close him and Cassidy were and how much love he has for Daniel, openly saying it every now and then, and wanting to protect him. Finn noticed how open Sean is and took advantage.

Imagine if this wasn’t a choice base game and the story automatically follows Sean agreeing with Finn.

He flirts with him throughout the episode and is very charismatic. Since Daniel notices how close Sean and Cassidy are getting, he rants to Finn. Finn takes in this information and uses it against them. He becomes “cool” in Daniel’s eyes by being super chill, rebellious, and showing him how to violently protect himself/hurt others. In a sense, he becomes Daniel’s temporary older and “cooler” brother, making Daniel look up to him. With Finn’s flirting, he admits (once again, if your choices didn’t matter) that he has feelings for some guys.

Finn takes note of this.

The idea pops into his head to steal from the man who runs the pot farm... thing. I’m an innocent bean who hasn’t done anything harder than prescribed drugs for anxiety and stuff. So forgive me if I’m getting these terms wrong, LOL! But, the point still remains, he tells Daniel who is automatically on board. I doubt a 9 year old boy truly cares if they have enough money or not. I bet his main thought was “If I do this, then Finn will think I’m cool! He’ll treat me like an adult and so will others.”

In fact, I bet you that was his exact thoughts, just based on what he said to Sean and how he acted towards others.

If you really look at it, guys... it looks similar to a Mark Jefferson/Nathan Prescott relationship in season 1. I’m not going to go into many details for the people who haven’t played/watched season 1 yet, but I’ll give you guys a basic rundown by what I mean.

Nathan was mentally ill. He suffered from possibly multiple disorders and had an abusive father. His father wanted him to be the best of the best, not for his sake, but for the families sake. This got to Nathan and he hated his father. Mark Jefferson was a teacher who noticed this, befriending Nathan, and becoming a fatherly figure. The two teamed up to do sickening plans and crimes together which ended up getting them caught in the end.

Now, who does that sound like?

Daniel just lost his father and he’s angry. He probably has PTSD and anger management issues, based on how he’s acting and the situations he’s been through. Finn is an older figure and tricks Daniel to follow his plans and crime, as they’re stealing. They end up getting caught by the boss no matter what they, Sean, Cassidy, or the player does.

Sean is in the same boat, minus the anger issues. He probably suffers more from depression and PTSD (since he talks about the past a lot to others and how they know their story). Since he does talk about his feelings, Finn uses to his advantage.

When Sean agrees to the heist, Finn and him (can) kiss as an award. An award for falling into his trap and doing whatever he wanted.

Nathan got fatherly love and praise from Jefferson, resulting in him to continue their disgusting plans in order to feel loved.

Sean (and Daniel) and becoming the Nathan of this season.

We have to watch out who will be our jefferson.

I also have to address another elephant in the room.

We’re the reason this happened.

If you go through old DontNod/Life is Strange official posts (I suggest instagram or facebook, where i saw mine), I saw nothing but comments saying how much they want Chloe and Max back. I assume this is because of how you can romance Chloe. They want their love story/friendship to continue. Even though we did get a comic series based on them, it wasn’t good enough.

DontNod probably got sick of it and forced this to happen. While they were probably writing Cassidy as a love interest in the beginning, and Finn as probably just a random stranger or a brother of hers, the noticed all the hate and said “fuck it!”

As a result, we got the chance to kiss Finn... before you could write him off by injuring or killing him. Which, many people were pissed about.

But if you REALLY think about it, we were the cause of that. They probably didn’t want that, wanting to focus on Cassidy and the actual story. But many people wanted LGBTQ+ moments (which is understandable) but didn’t want Sean and Daniel’s story. Or they did get involved in their story but wanted a LGBTQ+ character.

The story of Life is Strange (both seasons + DLC) is nothing more but teens/young adults finding themselves through very difficult times. This with the responsibility of super powers, which are hurting those around them. It’s not meant to be a romance. It’s meant to be a drama, sci-fi, and angst story. (And thriller bc of Max’s nightmare bc that shit scared me)

While yes, I was happy and excited at first about Sean & Finn kissing. I was happy that there was potential for things to be “normal” and Sean to be happy, there was a lot of red flags. The age differences, the manipulation, the parallel's, and how forced it was.

She spent a great deal of time with them, Luke becoming the father figure that Lily longed for. He and Synndy, along with the rest of the Wyatts, had become very protective of Lily. Since traveling with Seth, he had been nothing but amazing. It actually worked out perfectly since Amanda wanted to take some time off to work on her new album and allow her hand to heal properly. She begrudgingly allowed Lily to go with Seth but not before threatening Seth that she’d use a rusty spoon to castrate him if he hurt Lily again. Seth was more than happy doing everything in his power to keep Lily happy. It wasn’t a hard task since she was very low maintenance. He knew that money wasn’t something Lily cared much about and it definitely wasn’t a cure all, so he’d find small ways here and there to make up for his stupidity. Every time they were in a new area he’d take Lily for a walk at night, describing everything in meticulous details. Other times he’d find local musical theaters or concerts and take her to a couple shows. She absolutely loved it when Seth would wordlessly set up her keyboard in random places for her. One of their favorite areas was his dressing room. He found that listening to her play calmed him down greatly and took away his anxiety before each match. One night in particular brought the attention of Brody and his parents which led her to teaching Brody to play the piano. —- Seth laid on the couch in his dressing room listening as Lily played some random melody on her keyboard. He had one of Lily’s T-shirts draped over his eyes trying to calm his nerves. He started doing this because it carried Lily’s sweet scent and found that breathing it in was very relaxing for him. “Stop.” She said, without missing a beat. “Stop what, sweetie?” Seth asked, peeking from under the shirt, watchingas her fingers moved effortlessly acrossthe keys. “Stop stressing out. I can practically hear your mind racing. You’re gonna do great, as always.” She smiles in his direction. A sight Seth never tires of. Just then, his door opened and in popped a tiny head. Seth grinned watching as the young boy stepped in and just stood there watching Lily, mesmerized by her music. “Hey Brody.” Seth said, waving at the small boy. Brody, who’s eyes never left Lily, simply waved back at Seth as he inched closer to Lily. Listening as small footsteps slowly made their way towards her, Lily lifted her head and gave the child a warm smile. “Hi,” She said quietly, “I’m Lily, what’s your name?” “I’m Bwody! I’m dis many!” He exclaimed, proudly holding up his fingers. “Oh Brody buddy, Lily can’t se-“ Seth began but stopped when Lily held up her hand in his direction and gently shook her head ‘no’ with a sweet smile. She didn’t want to take away from Brody’s proud little moment. She found that most kids often felt sad for Lily when they found out she couldn’t see. “Whatcha playin’?” He asked as he finally made it to her side, taking the liberty of sliding himself onto her lap, facing the black and white keys. She quickly secured her arms around the little boy’s midsection so he wouldn’t fall off. “Well, Mr. Brody, it’s called “River flows in You” but most people know it as “Bella’s Lullaby”. Do you know how to play anything?” He thought for a little bit, his tiny finger touching his chin and, without warning, began plunking away at the keys. Seth immediately sat up, ready to stop the noise knowing full well that it was hurting Lily’s hearing, but again, was surprised when she laughed at Brody’s impromptu performance. Fortunately Lily had been a teacher for a while now and was used to kids pounding on the piano keys. “That was very creative, would you like to learn another song?” She asked as she placed a one hand on the keyboard, the other still safely around his waist. Just then, the frantic voices of Brody’s parents could be heard from the hallway. Seth jumped into action, swinging his door open and waved them down. “He’s in here.” He told them, their relief visible on their faces as Luke and Synndy followed Seth into his dressing room. They stopped at the scene in front of them, Brody sat upon Lily’s lap, roughly playing “Mary had a Little Lamb”. “Very good!” She praised Brody as he mimicked her movements. His parents watched as she patiently taught him the keys and lovingly reassured and encouraged him when he got frustrated with not getting it right. Synndy smiled up at Luke, squeezing his bicep and dragged him towards Lily and Brody. “Hey kiddo,” Luke said while crouchingdown, his deep voice grabbed both their attention, “what did daddy say about wondering off?” Lily felt herself starting to panic a bit, not wanting the small boy in her lap to get in trouble. Seth saw this and walked behind her, gently rubbed her shoulders and kissed her temple. “I know, but I was wif Lily!! She’s showing me how to play piano!! Watch!!” Brody said excitedly as he tried his best to show what he had learned. All of the adults, minus Lily who was still holding Brody, clapped when he was finished. “You did so great, sweetie!!” Synndy exclaimed, “But it’s almost time for daddy to go on so let’s walk him to the gorilla and wish him luck, ok? If she’s willing and able, could we pay her to teach Brody piano?” She asked, giving Luke her best puppy dog eyes. He just smiled, bent his head and kissed his wife. “Anything you want, love.” He said with nothing but pure love in his eyes. Seth watched the couple with envious eyes. He was hoping that by some miracle he and Lily could have this someday. They hadn’t kissed or anything like that since the day he almost went to blows with Brock Lesnar. They walked back to Lily and Brody, who was currently explaining to Lily all the benefits of downloading Pokémon Go on her phone. “Pikachu is really cool but da best Pokémon is Squirtle!” He exclaimed, Lily, who was matching his excitement, was listening intently to his every word. “Lily,” Luke said, gently tapping her shoulder, “if you’re ok with it, the Missus and I were wondering if we could hire you to teach Brody how to play the piano?” Lily beamed with excitement! Truth be told she didn’t realize just how much she missed teaching until she started showing Brody a few things. She jumped at the chance to teach again, even if it was only one child. Before she answered, she stretched out her right hand, a gesture that she used to do when she wanted Seth’s attention, something she hadn’t done in years. Seth took her hand and allowed himself to be pulled towards her. She let go of his hand and felt for his face, bringing her lips close to his ear so the others wouldn’t hear. “Is that ok with you?” She whispered, Seth closing his eyes at the sensation of having her lips so close to him. He quietly chuckled to himself, she didn’t need his permission, but the fact she asked anyways made his heart melt. “Of course,” he said while laughing, “if it makes you happy than I’m good!” He kissed her forehead before standing straight. “I’d love to, but don’t worry about paying me-“ “Bup bup bup!” Synndy stopped Lily in her tracks, “We’re paying you!” “Don’t argue wif her, she always wins when she’s arguing wif daddy.” Brody loudly whispered causing the room to erupt with laughter. From that day forward, Brody was Lily’s little shadow every time he saw her, his little hand tucked perfectly in hers. —- Backstage, Brody was currently perched on Lily’s lap, playing with her hands as they watched and listened to ‪Monday Night‬ Raw. She couldn’t help but laugh at what a whiny storyline Seth was written into as of late. She listened to him drag on and on about some ‘Demon King’. She leaned over to Bray, softly placing her hand on his arm to get his attention. “Yes, my dear?” He asked in his Louisiana twang. “Who’s he talking about?” She asked with a confused look on her face. She still wasn’t fully familiarized with the roster yet. “Well, my sweet lamb,” his designated nickname for Lily, much to Seth’s dislike, “he is an up and coming young star who, like myself, has a much darker force living inside himself that allows him to unleash his evil side.” She felt bad for the laugh that escaped her lips. Stunned by her reaction, Bray just stared at her, a small smirk on his face. “You may be a lot of things, Bray, but you’re far from evil.” She said with a loving smile. “You never cease to surprise me, my dear.” “Oh? Why is that?” She asked, kissing the top of Brody’s head. “You are a beacon of light in this dark world.” He praised her. “I’m really not that special.” She mumbled, dropping her head slightly, biting her lip. “That, little lamb, is where you are mistaken. You find the good in all you meet, even in this cold, harsh world you manage to bring a little warmth to every life you touch.” She felt him put his arm around her shoulders. “You are truly an angel.” “Thank you.” She said, feeling Brody start to bounce around on her lap, an excited squeal leaving his mouth. “He’s coming, he’s coming!! Auntie Lily, watch, oh I mean, listen! You’re gonna love Da Demon King!!” He said excitedly, tapping her arms. He was slowly starting to understand that Lily couldn’t see, a problem he tried to resolve by kissing both of her eyes ‘better’. She absolutely adored his innocent mindset. “Ok!! I’m listening, what do you think is gonna happen?” “Your boyfriend’s gonna get it for sure!” He exclaimed, smiling from ear to ear. Lily had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing. Yes, they had grown closer, but they weren’t dating by any means. “We should’ve had a drinkin’ game, a shot for every time Seth said ‘Demon King’.” Braun said, cracking himself up. “Not in front of Brody!” Synndy and Luke said in unison. Lily sat there completely content, listening as Seth was being put in his place, Bray doing his best to describe what was happening and what everything looked like. Lily was so grateful for the people in her life. Although she was there to help Seth, he actually saved her and helped her get through a horrible experience not so long ago. —- Seth walked off the hotel elevator to the room he was sharing with Lily, having decided to get in a late night workout. He couldn’t keep the goody grin off his face thinking about her and the joy she brought to his life. As he got closer to their door something felt off. Quickening his pace, he retrieved the keycard and unlocked it as fast as possible. Once he opened the door he found Lily on the floor in the fetal position, eyes red and puffy.Dropping everything, he ran to her side, scooping her up and holding her close to his chest. “Baby, what’s wrong?! Talk to me!” Seth said while checking her for injuries and looking around for any signs of forced entry, his mind going to the worst case scenario. “Please tell me what’s wrong, pretty baby.” He whispered into her hair when she didn’t answer. She just laid there, eyes focusing on nothing, completely numb. Seth held her for what felt like hours, unsure what to do. He had never felt so helpless in his life. He picked her up and laid down with her on the bed. It wasn’t until then that he noticed Lily’s now broken laptop on the floor. He had surprised her with it one day, it was custom made for Lily, complete with a Braille keyboard and assistive technology for the visually impaired. Now it laid on the floor, looking like someone had thrown it against the wall. “What happened to your laptop, what did you find Lily? Pease talk to me.” He pleaded as tears fell from the architect’s eyes. “Tell me what happened so I can make it better.” He whispered in her hair. She slowly reached for her phone on the nightstand and brought it to her trembling lips. “S-Siri, open email.” She sobbed out. Once the command was fulfilled, she gave Seth her phone. While still holding onto her, he scrolled through her emails until he saw what had caused her so much pain. Three emails down was an already read email from a ‘Frank Adams’..... Lily’s father. Seth tried to contain himself as he felt rage fill his entire being. Against his better judgment he opened the message. Dear Lily, I can’t believe how well you’re doing for yourself! I’m so proud of you. I always knew you’d make something of yourself! I saw some videos of you touring with ‪Amanda Palmer‬! You’ve become quite the celebrity! Not to mention you’re dating a WWE superstar, there are photos of you two all over the internet. I’d love to catch up with you sometime, the guys at work will never believe that my daughter is famous! -Dad Seth felt the bile rise in his throat, the fact that this cockroach of a man thought that he could weasel his way back into Lily’s life now that she’s made a name for herself was absolutely sickening. His poor angel. Seth smoothed her hair as he whispered sweet nothings in her ears. He didn’t know how to help her, but he’d hold her all night if it would make her happy. “He’s garbage, baby girl, a spineless worm of a man. He doesn’t deserve anything from you so don’t you dare give him a second thought. You are so much stronger than him and he’s a fool for leaving you, he has no idea how amazing of a woman you truly are. He doesn’t deserve any of your tears.” Seth couldn’t help but feel like he was talking about himself. He was so grateful that she was willing to have him back in her life. Lily closed her eyes and nuzzled further into Seth’s chest. Suddenly an idea popped into his head. He quickly grabbed her phone, went to her iTunes and opened her music. Hitting shuffle, he put her phone on their bed and stood up, pulling her with him. He knew how much she loved to dance, even tho she claimed she wasn’t good at it, which was complete bullshit. She didn’t move for a while, she just stood there as Seth tried his hardest to get her to just do a simple shimmy. Finally, “Under Pressure” by ‪David Bowie‬ and Queen came on. This just so happened to be Lily’s all time favorite song. Jumping to the music, arms in the air, a smile finally making its way to Lily’s face as she let the music take her over. Seth reached for her hands, pulling her close as the music blared through the hotel room. They kept dancing to different songs until a slow song came on. Seth pulled her close to his chest as ‪Ed Sheeran‬’s“Kiss Me” came through the speaker. Lily laid her head on his shoulder and arms around his neck as Seth’s arms snaked around her waist. They swayed to the song, moving as one, just living in the moment. When the song ended, Lily let out a good yawn. Seth picked her up and laid her back on the bed, laying down next to her. He stared at her beautiful face as her eyelids slowly started to close. She moved closer to Seth, burying her face in his shirt, using his bicep as a pillow. Before she fell asleep she draped her arm over Seth’s side, turning her head up towards his. “Thank you.” She said with a soft smile on her face. “Don’t mention it, cutie.” He whispered before kissing her forehead. He glanced down at her body and couldn’t believe he didn’t notice it sooner. Lily was wearing the shirt that Seth left with her the night before he left for NXT. She had kept it after all these years, even after all of the heartache and pain he put her through, she held onto it. He felt his heart fill with hope that maybe, just maybe she’d take him back fully. —- After Seth’s segment, he quickly showered, gathered his things and he, Roman, Dean and Renee went to find Lily. They found her sitting with the Wyatts, a sleeping Brody nestled in her arms, the small boy’s head tucked safely in her neck. The sight made his heart skip a beat and warmth radiated through his entire body. He wanted to have a family with her, to see his own child sleeping peacefully in her arms. They had both agreed that they shouldn’t rush into dating again but damnit, he wanted her with everything inside him. He walked over and crouched in front of Lily, placing a hand on each of her knees. His cologne filling her senses, she smiled in his direction, whispering a soft hello so not to disturb Brody. “Hey pretty baby,” He whispered back, “I wanted to talk to you. I know you want to just be friends but I can’t do that anymore.” Lily felt her chest tighten, tears threatening to spill. All four members of the Wyatts visibly straightened in their chairs, ready to destroy Seth if they saw one sad tear. “I want more, call me selfish, but I don’t want to go another day simply as friends.” He said, rubbing reassuring circles on the inside of her knees with his thumbs. “I want it be with you and only you.” Lily’s heart felt like is was going to beat out of her chest. “I have a few more stipulations if I’m going to agree to this.” She answered him with a shy smile. “You name it, love, anything you want it’s yours.” Seth didn’t care how crazy her demands might be, he was just happy she was even willing to give him a second chance. “I want you,” she took a deep breath, a loving smile on her face and tears on the brim of her eyes, “to be the man who makes me smile, makes me laugh, the one who will love me for the rest of my life, makes me cry tears of joy....” her bottom lip quivering, “I want you to make me the happiest woman on earth.” She finished as tears streamed down her cheeks. Seth felt the air leave his lungs. With tears of his own, he stared at Lily’s face as she repeated the promises he made to her that night when he thought she was sleeping all those months ago. He quickly ripped open his duffle bag, fishing out the small box he had been carrying with him for years now. Renee immediately grabbed out her phone, knowing good and well Amanda would kill everyone if she wasn’t present. Dialing her number as she told Roman to FaceTime Lily’s mom, she got Amanda on FaceTime but quickly held a finger to her lips so there wouldn’t be any give away for what was about to happen. Meanwhile, Synndy elbowed Luke, signaling for him to take Brody from Lily’s arms as she started to record with her phone. Taking a deep breath, Seth took one of Lily’s hands in his. “My beautiful girl, I’m a complete and utter mess without you. You’re the only person who’s seen me at my worst and still loved me for me. I want to fall asleep with you in my arms every night and wake you with kisses every morning. I love you more than anything in this world and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do just to see you smile. I want to raise a family with you, grow old with you and share every moment with you. I was drowning and you were the only one to dove in to save me. I lost you once and it was the worst mistake of my life, I won’t lose you twice.” Seth opened Lily’s hand and placed the ring in her palm. He watched as her fingers delicately inspected the tiny piece of jewelry. She let out a small whimper when she felt the Braille inscription of ‘soulmate’ on the inside, another wave of tears making themselves known. He took her left hand in both of his, holding it to his lips, letting out a shaky breath, he gave her hand one more kiss.

“Lillian Penelope Adams, will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me, become Mrs. Rollins?”

Everyone was wracked with anticipation as they waited for Lily’s answer. Was there anyway she’d say no? She covered her face with her free hand, shoulders shaking and small sobs muffled by her hand. She dropped her hand, smiling as she reached for Seth. “Yes, with all my heart, yes.” She whispered, kissing his lips. Seth eagerly put the ring on her finger and kissed her back but the couple pulled apart when the room erupted in celebratory cheers. Their friends and coworkers lined up to congratulate the happy soon to be couple, but when things died down, Lily went in search of Luke. Smelling his cologne, she placed her hand on his shoulder. “Luke?” She asked, her voice small. “Yeah, sweetie?” He asked, Brody in one arm and his other around his wife’s shoulders. “Can I ask you for something?” She asked, biting her bottom lip. “Of course!” He smiled. “W-would you walk me down the isle on m-my wedding day?” Luke felt the air leave his lungs. He gently gave Brody to Synndy and engulfed the young woman in a bear hug. He couldn’t believe that she was asking him to do the honors of giving her away. Tears stung his and Synndy’s eyes as he pulled back and they just stared at Lily in awe. “I would be absolutely honored to give you away.” “Thank you thank you thank you, a million times, thank you!” She said, giving him another hug and kissing his cheek. That night Seth held his Lily in his arms, kissed her lips, whispering how much he loved her as he worshiped her body, making up for lost time. At long last, all was finally right with the world.

Like Twilight Syndrome: Saikai/Reunion, a title I’ve yet to experience, despite being a total fanboy of the PSone as well...

“So everyone knows about the Gunstar Heroes references in Cuphead but I can’t help but feel this boss is a reference to The Adventures of Batman & Robin on the Sega Mega Drive. Its at very least a huge coincidence.

ONE OK ROCK NYC 2 DAYS EXPERIENCE

Here’s me avoiding all responsibilities and totally ignoring that it’s almost been 2 months :D

As (many?) of you may know I went to both NYC shows, general admission for the first day and VIP for the second day!! I was going to do a write up in the following days after but I was still pretty overwhelmed then and have pushed it back till now, whoops. Warning, long post ahead as I gotta fit 2 days in somehow HAHA

So keep reading if you wanna know how I kissed Toru’s cheek, ran into them and got selfie + sign with Toru :D

Since it was middle of summer this time, I could actually wait out in line and not die of freezing like back in January so I arrived at the venue around 9:20. Surprise, there was already a short line (that totally didn’t change much for the next few hours tbh lol) VIP and general admission lines were separated much later in the day like a few hours before opening time so everyone was just chilling till then.

This was a banner someone had made and everyone in the line in the morning had signed! It was gigantic and pretty fucking cool, they gave it to them during M&G.

Around 10-11 their bright orange bus arrived in the front of the venue but none of the members came with it. Around noon Ryota was the first to make his appearance and walked in alone. I went to get lunch and during the time I was gone, Ryota and Michelle walked past the line :)) At some point after that a camera crew came out to record the line, they had us all stand up and they filmed everyone cheering lol Ryota walked in again later with Toru at around 3 and Taka did as well soon after I think (I missed the record button on my phone for Taka, good job me). By then the line for VIP and general admission had been split. I was at the very front of the GA line. I’ll complain talk about the line splitting and staff when I get to day 2. But anyway, camera man followed them inside. Michelle and Jamil walked in a bit after them with giant bags of food I think, Michelle is so beautiful :’)

So yeah, then we got in and I got a spot in what I guess was like the third row between Taka and Toru. Palisades was the first opener, I didn’t listen to any of their stuff beforehand bc I wanted to experience them live first and let me just say, I totally fell in love with them. They played songs off their self titled album that was released earlier this year along with an Unsteady by X Ambassadors cover (which was amazing and I really want a studio version). Fun fact, Brandon (the second vocalist and bass player) held onto my friend’s hand for a moment during that :’) The lighting for their set was really dark so barely any nice pics :((

After Palisades was Set It Off...not much to say about them from me tbh I don’t really like them but their song Hypnotized is fun and catchy. Cody (I think that’s the singer’s name?) went into the crowd and disappeared at the end, I got to touch his hand from all the shoving.

AND THEN, what everyone had been waiting for, ONE OK ROCK! I won’t say much about the songs as I really don’t have as much to say as the January show bc this isn’t the first time hearing them live. I remember pointing out that Taka did seem to struggle a bit with I was King but he was on point for that this time. I had hoped that they’d have Listen and owt on the setlist but sadly they didn’t.

Toru was on fire. His arms are so nice.

So beautiful.

After Chester’s passing, I had already imagined oor doing some sort of tribute for him and they met my expectations that day with the One More Light cover. It was a moment that can’t be described easily, the first performance they did of it. There was sense that everyone was either holding their breath or singing along softly, paying full attention to Taka’s raw voice.

One More Light replaced Hard to Love and led into Take What You Want, which had (around) a minute of silence. Toru looked quite emotional at the beginning, I remember the people around me asking if he was crying (which he wasn’t). I wish I could say it was totally quiet but it wasn’t someone yelled the next few lines of the song like 3 times even though everyone was shushing him ://

The Osaka bros rocked it out together for a moment during a song that I totally forgot, oops. (hello pics from my phone and someone else’s hand right in front of me LOL) Again, was not on Ryota’s side of the stage and didn’t see him much being how short I am :’)) same with Tomo, but he was rocking it back there.

For the encore, Taka actually came down to Toru’s side to crowd surf, and I ended up touching his arm/shoulder LOL so. much. pushing. Everyone wanted a piece of Taka haha

No picture at the end this time but when they were waving goodbye and stuff, Tomo was the last one to leave the stage and he knocked into Toru’s mic stand, knocking off all the remaining picks...Security gave them out but I was too far away cries

After the show, we met Palisades by their merch! Was still so hyped from the concert and probably a mess but everyone was so nice. Told them we would be seeing them again tomorrow and they were excited. Lou called me sweetie HAHA Brandon is adorable

What is this?, you may ask. Well, it’s Toru’s feet LOL

So long story short, our group was still outside then and everyone else had left already. We were about to walk past the doors of the venue when Ryota and Michelle just came out. I was so shocked, I did some small wave and like quietly squeaked out Ryota I think. His hair was in a ponytail! Not was it only him, Toru, Tomoya and Jeff came out right after them. They told us they were going to get food and we didn’t stop them for pics or signs, just waved and said hi. And that’s how we ran into oor minus Taka, amazing.

DAY 2

Got there at around 10-11 bc I was dead from the day before. Same deal with waiting in line and stuff but none of oor walked by that day. Lou (of Palisades) did walk by the line at like noon or something and then walked back past us again bc he went the wrong way, that was hilarious.

Soo I had VIP second day and when they split the lines, the person let the VIP from the front of the line move to the VIP section (which was like around the corner) BUT they cut us off and then had the VIP from the back of the line go. It was so bullshit, thankfully most of my group had made it into the first cut. The asshole guy also yelled at everyone basically that they need to stop complaining bc “everyone will get the equal time and treatment.” He told this to those, like us, who had been waiting hella early that were now next to people who had just joined the line. They also had two security scanners but the guy only used one on the other side of our group + the other really early group.

VIP was the same as always, show ID, get laminate. The laminates were a lot nicer this time :)

Went in and lined up for M&G, we were like the second group in the line lol Jeff explained how it would work, did a demo in which he had us pretend he was about a foot shorter to be Taka and had us cheer as he walked in, I think I was more laughing than cheering at that LOL but apparently we were ahead of schedule so they started really soon after that, like oor just randomly walked in right after.

Meet and greet experience, many thanks to my friend for recording my turn for me :’)

Hugged Ryota and said hi, moved onto Taka, hugged him and then we just kinda held each other’s arms and then he held my hand bc I spontaneously decided to thank them for the Chester tribute and that it was beautiful and that I would have seen them the next week in NJ. Yeah.

I did not notice at the time but Toru was intensely staring me down the whole time, amazing.

Then I hugged Toru and Tomo, I did not bump my head against Tomo’s shoulder like last time :)) Tomo is so happy and smiley, he’s so precious.

I went back to the middle for the pic and I said “Toru?” and he looked down (hello I am smol) and I asked if I could give him a kiss on his cheek (This was Anna (@shajichan)’s idea okay) and there was like an awkward second of just us staring at each other before he was like “sure.” He bent his knees so that I could reach him :’)) I was still on the tips of my toes :’))

Ryota was off in his own world the whole time so idk what he was thinking when he saw us tbh LOL and Taka’s hand had actually been around my waist from the moment I went back to the middle :’))) Being that close to Toru was an experience.

ANYWAY, I bought merch while we were waiting after the M&G. The merch for Ambitions is so...lol but I had to get something at least

The signed album from VIP as well. Not included in pic is the wristband bc I forgot I was still wearing it, smart me.

Since we were basically at the front of the VIP, I got a spot on barricade right in front of Toru. Let me just say this spot was magical or something bc I was not pushed once, had room to step back if I wanted to and I was cold. Magical I say.

Show was like the same except 250x better bc I was front row this time. There’s vids of like Toru being rude throughout the whole show on my ig if you want to see what went down.

Maybe it was being so close and being able to see them so much clearer but I was way more emotional during One More Light than on the first day. I’m pretty sure Julen has pics of me trying to cover my face with my phone during it :)) The silence in TWYW was completely silent this time, it was so perfect. Taka was also doing some mic tricks during MLF, like throwing it up and catching it, twirling it..etc really nice to see that again after so long since his wired mic tricks :((

Taka came out with a beer for the encore, surprising everyone I think LOL no crowd surfing this time sadly.

We went to Palisades merch table again afterwards, actually buying stuff this time. I got their album and shirt and gave their merch guy a $10 tip LOL

Album was signed later outside by Lou and Brandon!! We were waiting for them bc they had to clear the venue so we couldn’t take pics or have time to talk to them inside. While waiting outside, we met Palisades photographer/Brandon’s friend, Geremy, who was only doing photography for Palisades but oor was so amazing that he borrowed an AAA pass to shoot them the whole time :D

So sweet.

Ryota and Michelle actually came out and walked right behind me when I was talking to Geremy and my friends... but I caught Toru when he came out! Totally missed Taka even though he was like right next to me as well at some point

And that’s about it for the two days. Writing these reports are fun lol I am broke but those 2 days were fucking awesome and I hanged out with the best people, really want to do it again soon :D

i’m finally back home in melbourne and now it’s time to talk about kcon australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (both days).

so, i had to fly in from melbourne to sydney for this, and i flew in on thursday (but landed at 6pm, so couldn’t do early check in unfortunately...i was told from other people that victon were actually there just walking around the arena and exploring sydney on thursday so damn).

day 1

it takes over an hour to get to the convention from where i was staying, so my friend and i didn’t get there until about 10:30am?? and the first thing we did was join the first queue we saw (which ended up being the convention line). it was kind of disorganised bc no one knew what we were all queuing up for, and then we realised after ten minutes of queuing OH WE HAVE TO CHECK IN (we were p1), so we went further down, found the check in tent and managed to get our wristbands and scratch cards. scratched everything for day 1 and i got: audience for sf9 and hi touch with pentagon (WHICH WAS WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR SO I WAS SO SO SO HAPPY OMG).

sf9 were first up, and we were actually almost late for it, but we got in and they were cute and INSEONG. inseong’s always been my bias, but he really solidified it this kcon. his english is great (which i knew already!!), and he talked so much and I LOVE HIM OK. I LOVE THAT BOY. so sf9 were cuties. stayed in the audience to watch hi touch after their little meet and greet thing (shout out to kevin!!!!!), and they looked so happy and i kept yelling inseong’s name like the fangirl i am. he’s beautiful.

SO after the sf9 artist engagement was victon’s so my friend and i got something to eat. once we did, i came back for pentagon’s hi touch and started queuing up at the exact time i was supposed to (12:15pm). there were already people in the line, so i got in and sat down for over an hour in the hot, hot sun and it well and truly sucked bc i could feel myself melting. not a fun time. BUT worth it when we finally got in bc i was right in front so i got a GREAT view of the boys.

they did their meet and greet thing (kino danced to the key dance point of ‘like this’), and then hi touch began!!!!! order: yan an, shinwon, yeo one, e’dawn, jinho, hui, kino, hongseok, yuto and wooseok. YAN AN, SHINWON AND HUI ARE LIKE SUPER SUPER BEAUTIFUL IRL I WAS IN A W E. yeo one is my bias so ofc i was a mess when i saw him. i also remember e’dawn and jinho pretty clearly?? maybe bc i had the most eye contact with them? everyone else is sort of a blur now bc it went by so fast (like all hi touches). all i could think about was that this was the first group that i ever stanned pre-debut!! and i still remember bawling my eyes out watching pentagon maker when shinwon was eliminated (even with the knowledge that he got into pentagon in the end but STILL I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HEARTBROKEN BY A ‘SURVIVAL SHOW’...even if it didn’t really end up being a survival show?? idk). so. I TOUCHED ALL THEIR HANDS IT WAS GREAT.

after that, i made my way inside the convention centre, and just stayed inside for like an hour or so bc it was too hot for me to even try to venture outside, but eventually i had to go out to line up for the red carpet, and when i went outside: MASSIVE LINE. it was 4:30pm :/ so of course, i lined up and then ended up making friends with the girl next to me (we were p1 left), and so at least i had someone to chill with for the next two hours of waiting in line (my friend didn’t go to red carpet, she only came in for the show). so lots more waiting until finally FINALLY we were let into red carpet. i was pretty much in the back, so i didn’t get to see much (esp when exo came out bc everyone lost it. lots of phones everywhere). and then we were (in a very, very disorganised manner) herded to the concert area, where there was more waiting, but i managed to find my original friend in the meantime!

eventually kevin came on to talk to us about hotels combined (the sponsor), and then cover dances, and it finally started. suho and sehun did some mcing and i cried. SUHO’S ENGLISH. MY HUSBAND. THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. so after them, first up was sf9!! they did: easy love, jungle game and fanfare. it was amazing (i was especially here for jungle game LOVED That dance). after them was pentagon. I LOST IT. my friend pushed me in front of her bc she knows i love them. they did: like this, can you feel it and gorilla. I WAS YELLING THEIR NAMES SO LOUD. oh, and kino did a solo dance at the beginning too. i think they did the piñata game?? but honestly, everything is a mess in my mind at this point, so i can’t remember for sure. after pentagon was victon! i don’t know them that well, but i’ve learnt all their names now (seungsik is soooooooooo cute ok THAT EYE SMILE). they did: unbelievable, blank and eyez eyez. i’m officially a fan now. then it was girl’s day!! i can’t believe i got to see girl’s day irl omg. minah is SO BEAUTIFUL. she came over to my section the most out of all the girls. i’m hyeri biased, but minah had a hold over me the whole time tbh. they did: i’ll be yours, something, expectation and ring my bell. I ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE SOMETHING AND EXPECTATION IN THE FLESH IT WAS INCREDIBLE. and then of course it was exo’s turn and i was YELLING SO LOUD BC MY BOYS. i’ve literally never in my life been so starstruck by a group before bc they’re EXO. they were RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME IN PERSON (minus d.o. and lay unfortunately though). i actually could have cried. i almost did. btw, chanyeol did a special stage of stay with me (from the goblin ost) with seola from wjsn and it was SO GREAT I LOVE THAT OST ONE OF MY FAVES ACTUALLY. ok so, exo performed: power, tender love, heaven, the eve and ko ko bop. I CAN’T BELIEVE I GOT TO SEE THE EVE LIVE THAT DANCE IS EVERYTHING GOOD IN THE WORLD. suho came over to my section and looked in my direction and smiled and his eyes literally GLITTERED and i have never felt so flustered in my life i almost sobbed. i’m actually really, really happy that i got to see ko ko bop and power live too bc i love love love the dance to power and they always look like they’re having the time of their life when they perform it (esp kai and he was so smiley!!). and then, before i knew it, it was all over and they all came out and said their final goodbyes and i had to go home. i was so exhausted, but still ready for day 2 of course.

OH, special stages were: pentagon peforming got7′s hard carry, sf9 performing exo’s monster and victon performing bts’ fire!!

day 2

so day 2 i was all by my lonesome bc my friend only wanted to go to day 1 (bc she wasn’t too familiar with the day 2 acts), so i headed off on my own a bit later this time since i already knew who i’d pulled for audience engagements/hi touch: wjsn and up10tion for audience engagement and monsta x for hi touch!! i’m not too familiar with wjsn and up10tion so i didn’t end up going to their audience engagement (i was also really, really tired), but i rocked up to the arena at about 11:30am for the monsta x hi touch (i still can’t believe i pulled monsta x bc they were the ones i wanted the MOST). there was already a line there (even though the queue for up10tion was still lining up), so i quickly got in line and had to wait even longer than pentagon this time since i came so early (but i knew there were going to be A LOT of monsta x fans). this time i learnt my lesson and brought an umbrella though, so it was a lot more bearable at least. so i sat there in line chatting with the girl in front of me (it’s really easy to make friends at these conventions and i’m shy as hell) who was a big monbebe. eventually, we got in, and then it was slightly cooler and kevin came out again to introduce monsta x and i was pretty close to the front? like maybe second row, so i had a wonderful view of all of them once again. KIHYUN WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME I WEPT TEARS BC HE LOOKED IN MY DIRECTION AND SMILED. i’ve always been both wonho and kihyun biased, but i truly think that kihyun finally took the bias title for me (with wonho still at a close second) bc i honestly could not stop staring at that boy. jooheon did a rap and it was fire ofc. then hi touch started and i was FREAKING OUT. i was literally shaking so much. i’ve never been so nervous to do a hi touch before (and i’ve done a bunch of them), but monsta x has this effect over me idek. order: shownu, hyungwon, jooheon, wonho, i.m., kihyun and minhyuk. i just kept going HI SHOWNU HI HYUNGWON HI JOOHEON HI WONHO HI I.M HI KIHYUN HI MINHYUK bc i didn’t know what else to do or say. kihyun actually grasped my hand and i shook some more. he was so smiley!!!!!!!!! i don’t remember all that much of this hi touch, but def kihyun’s face. and minhyuk bc he was at the end and real cute too. and shownu bc i was hyping myself out since he was first haha.

so after hi touch i went to go grab some lunch, and chilled for about an hour before going back and then finding some of the friends i met yesterday. we ended up lining up for red carpet at about 4pm, since the line had already started, and we wanted to be in closer than before. so more hours lining up until we were finally, finally let in. unfortunately, wanna one didn’t do red carpet bc i heard their hi touch ran long or something? idk, so after red carpet, we were herded once again into the arena, but this time it was too fast and it was kind of like a mini stampede. it was kind of dangerous actually :/ but eventually we got to make out way inside, and this time i was actually a little closer to the stage, but bc of that it was more pushy. also wanna one fans were really energetic (hah). they were more crazy i feel than the day 1 fans at least, but again, maybe it was just bc i was closer to the stage this time? who knows.

anyway, so kevin comes out and does more ‘hotels combined’ talking, and then introduces the cover dances (which i feel were better than the day 1 ones. they did really good). and then inseong and rowoon did some mcing (which they also did yesterday), and jooheon and shownu did a special collab stage together. sf9 were up first again. this time they did: easy love, roar and fanfare. so instead of jungle game they did roar this time round. there was some ongoing theme of taking off their jackets that they seemed to start bc every other group kept doing it after them bc it was so hot haha. cue me screaming INSEONG some more bc INSEONG (also jaeyoon!!). after sf9 were up10tion. they did: runner, so dangerous and white night. again, i’m not that familiar with up10tion (i like wooshin but...he’s still getting better so he wasn’t there). sunyoul, hwanhee and jinhoo REALLY caught my eye though. and they’re songs were so good?????? why have i been sleeping on them. so yeah, they did their thing and were very, very cute. after up10tion was wjsn, and they did: happy, secret and catch me. i don’t know them that well either, but i do like secret (and the more than i listen to happy, the more that it grows on me). they also did a cover medley of kylie minogue’s locomotion and can’t get you out of my head (the girl next to me was a huge fan and burst into tears when she saw them). i don’t have a bias yet, but luda, exy, yeoreum and dawon though!!!!!!!!!! so, so beautiful omg. cheng xiao and bona weren’t there though :( then wanna one came out and the crowd went mad. as soon as energetic started, everyone had their phone up and i could barely see anything haha. they did: energetic, wanna be (my baby) and burn it up. they also did some talking in the middle and seongwoo literally came over to my section and sat down and did aegyo IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. jisung did too and all my vids of that are literally just me screaming JISUUUUUUNG at the top of my lungs bc MY FAVE OK MY FAVE BOY I ROOTED FOR HIM FROM THE START. minhyun also came over at one point and did his infamous dance and i’ve recently become a nu’est stan all over again so MORE SCREAMING FROME ME. and woojin came over and did a sexy dance legit right in front of me and i caught it on video it’s the most beautiful thing in the world i am #blessed. also, it was guanlin’s birthday so daehwi (bless that boy) brought it up off script and everyone sang happy birthday to him :’) it was so cute. so after wanna one and their little aegyo/sexy competition, it was monsta x’s turn. SO MUCH YELLING I WELL AND TRULY LOST MY VOICE. they performed: shine forever, beautiful, ex-girl, fighter and hero. I GOT TO SEE FIGHTER AND HERO IN PERSON MY TWO FAVE TITLE TRACKS FROM THEM!!!!!!!!! they did this thing where they proposed to this girl in the audience. i.m. said something cheesy haha, kihyun serenaded her (i survived that somehow), and then wonho. MY MAN WONHO. he went down to the crowd, gave her a heart, took her phone and took a selfie with her and hugged her. HIS FAN SERVICE IS NO JOKE. i know i’ve seen vids of their concerts and always known but actually seeing it live is something else entirely. my lightstick gave out halfway through their set too (prob bc it was too overwhelmed by monsta x as well haha). so yeah, anyway, they did hero and my phone ran out of space (luckily i had my ipod), and then it was over and everyone came out to say goodbye :( but monsta x were the only group to run to the end of the stage and bow again THEY’RE SO CUTE I LOVE MONSTA X SO MUCH I STAN THE RIGHT GROUP. i hope, hope, hope they come back down to australia again at some point (they were saying they would!!) and this time to melbourne too bc i would do just about anything to get to see them again. i love them :’)

conclusion

i am sooooooo tired still. and sore. i had to wake up the next morning at 4:30am bc i had a flight back to melbourne at 7am, and it’s great to be back home, but at the same time the post concert depression is so, so real, and i’ve hyped this up for so long that now i’m like what do i do?? what to look forward to now?? no, but really, it was such a wonderful experience, and i really hope that they do kcon australia again next year (this time in melbourne PLEASE I’M POOR). it’s kind of funny bc most of the people i met there weren’t actually from sydney (most were interstate, and there were a lot of melburnians there interestingly enough). but either way, it was kind of awesome that we all came together for this experience, and it was super, super easy to strike up conversations with people, so if you ever go alone, don’t be afraid to do it bc you’re bound to find someone you can latch onto and hang out with even if you’re introverted. also, make sure to dress appropriately (esp if it’s hot: wear sunscreen!! and bring an umbrella). i hate how they kept making us throw out our water to get into the convention/meet and greet centres when it was so important for us to stay hydrated :/ but anyway, that’s enough from me. i’m sorry this is long. if you got to the end, HOW?? it was so much fun and despite the hot sun and the waiting around for hours, i’d do it all over again :D

Finally, The ET Video Game That You’ve Been Waiting For

Since there was no proper game culture wrap-up last week (again, sorry about that), along with how I’m filing this at the end of the week instead of the beginning (there’s… stuff happening, so consider this one of the more minor examples), there’s a lot to cover this time around. Including a bunch of happenings from the word of art.

So kicking things off is the latest from Amanda Visel X Michelle Valigura. Much like their Star Wars, Beetlejuice, and Heathers cabinets, here we their ideas of what arcade games based upon ET and Aliens could and should look like. And yeah, playing as Gertie is an approach that could salvage its reputation in the video game sphere, plus I totally want an Alien/Aliens video game starring Newt.

Actually, hasn’t something similar already happened? Sorry, haven’t kept up with the video adaptations; last one I played was for the Jaguar. Anyhow, and unfortunately, both pieces are sold out online. Though… and I’m not 100% certain, but… they’re both at the Thailand Toy Expo, so maybe they brought a few extras with them?

Elsewhere in Asia, Japan to be exact, are not just one but two other notable shows, and both focused on electronic entertainment. First is something you’re probably familiar with, the My Famicase Exhibition, and not just because it’s been around for 13 years. As of this writing, the entire assortment has yet to be shared officially, so you’ll have to turn to Twitter to see the participants boasting their own handiwork.

… It’s maybe pointing out that the artist responsible for the concept above also did a piece for last year’s event as well, which ended up becoming something that’s actually playable! Hope history repeats itself cuz I really want a game about an all cat band with gross lyrics.

Now, the other show is something you may know nothing about, cuz a. the 16 Bit Models Exhibition has only been around for two years and b, was only open for just one day, hence why it’s fallen under many radars.

Admittedly, I found last year’s assortment a bit more up my alley, most due to my affinity for the obscure. Yet I can still appreciate this very realistic take on the Super Mario Bros (btw, am also sorry that I don’t know who’s responsible for what)…

Along with this realistic take on Pauline and Donkey Kong…

Yet the exhibition was a reminder that not every Nintendo game out there has been paid tribute to death, specifically Urban Champion…

The dioramas are easily the best parts of the 16 Bit Models Exhibition. Here’s an equally impressive one, featuring Castlevania…

Though once again, the obscurer the better, so this tribute to Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa gets a thumbs up from me…

Which is the lesser known game: Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa or City Connection? The latter at least was released on the NES at the time. Then again…

Moving onto fashion, UNIQLO recently unveiled an upcoming line based upon Mario and company. As one might expect from UNIQLO, they look quite nice! Here’s the campaign movie from Japan…

The best part is that UNIQLO’s entire line is headed towards the US! Was not expecting that. Alas, certain designs are not available to everyone, and I know more than a few adults who wouldn’t mind that Kirby tee. So here comes YUMMY MART to the rescue…

Somewhat along the same lines is Namco enlisting the talents of PAYNUS, who represents some of the esoteric offerings in the Pac-Store…

The constant reference to pizza is something that’s present in both the PAYNUS designs and Namco’s own in-house efforts…

Meanwhile, back at METEOR, in addition to the latest Famicase exhibit, they’ve also been busy with a collab with THUNDERBOX (which I highlighted just a few weeks ago). And from the looks of miki800.com’s post, MOUNTAIN GRAPHICS is also involved? Talk about a holy trinity…

Whereas the previous combination makes sense, the following is… unexpected. Recently discovered that R23X has teamed up with the The Yetee of all folks to produce a line of shirts showcasing glitched VHS stills. Including one that’s game related (technically two; there’s also a crop top version as well)…

Looks neat and all, but I’m less of a Final Fantasy 7 fan and more of a Wave Race 64 aficionado, and would therefore love to see this on a tee…

I’d also love to get my hands on one of these 100 yen pins that @rgb_club posted a couple weeks back, though no word on when it might be available…

“The sprite editor used by artists for a number of SNK fighting games (Art Box) was written for the Neo-Geo, and uses the Neo-Geo as the interface. As in, you would use the joystick and the buttons to draw the sprite. He didn’t believe this when he started there, until one of the higher ups showed him by firing up one of the machines and drawing a kickass sprite of Robert Garcia in like 10 minutes”.
