Hino analysis time

Aka why i think its strange that Hino is handled the way he is in both games (in a good way)

This ended up being a long post sorry. Tldr, hino is a unique case for how npcs were handled between botw and totk and seems to have the potential to play a larger role just in general but never does.

So i've been thinking a lot about hino (as i do) and noticed that while some npcs that arent involved with anything seem to have changed significantly between botw and totk, for example, spinch and joute, others are mostly the same, such as hino and mezer. Other npcs that stayed almost completely the same are usually ones that were involved in some sort of quest, such as magda with the flowers and loone with her love of ancient things.

Spinch is a traveling npc in botw whos defining trait is that his horse is also named spinch, however his horse is nowhere to be seen in totk (though im not sure if this is just a case of npcs horses not being predetermined) and is also not mentioned by him as he now only stays at the lakeside stable. Joute is another traveling npc in botw who says he prefers horses (or "horsies", as he says it) over people, and seems to be pretty reclusive overall, but in totk hes part of the group of people who get sick from food poisoning and doesnt mention any sort of preference towards horses, and his horse is also not seen.

Magda is still obsessed with flowers and can still supposedly hear them speak, but she doesnt attack you anymore (as far as im aware) and is involved with one of the zelda sighting side quests. Loone is still obsessed with ancient stuff but is focused now on the three leviathan skeletons, which is its own set of side quests. Mezer is another npc like this where he used to sell meat but now he does not sell meat and instead just travels, but still does have his focus on meat, and is also involved with a quest about marbled rock roast.

Hino has been studying the blood moon in both games, though in totk his focus is currently on how monsters function, hoping that something about monsters will tell him anything about why they get revived by the blood moon. His character is mostly the same, but his obsession with the moon in general seems to have grown since botw.

For example:

The first two pictures are from totk. The third picture is from botw. In totk, hino refers to the moon as "she" and "her", unless its a blood moon in which he only uses "it", while in botw he only uses "it". He also tends to focus more on the moons beauty now than he did before, with two of his moon phase comments in botw not really having much to do with the moon itself or how he personally feels about it (specifically, his full moon and cresecnt moon dialogue). But overall, his character hasnt changed too much, as his main traits are still very much focused on. With this in mind, it would make sense that he would be significant in some way, or at least directly involved in a quest, like how magda and mezer are, but he isnt.

Once you finish the zora's domain regional phenomenon quest, you can get a side quest from a zora guard named gaddison, who tells you about a monster fort on ja'abu ridge. The quest is just to clear out the fort, but she doesnt mention that there may be a hylian trapped in the fort. Despite this, nothing about the quest is focused on that fact, and the hylian does, in fact, turn out to be hino.

However, hino is also in 4 other forts in the game (there are a total of 6, but hino never goes to the one in hebra, which is also the fort that you can aid the monster control crew with), none of which are ever given any attention to the way this one side quest did. To me this is interesting because these other forts are a lot easier to access than the one in ja'abu ridge, one of the forts is not too far from lookout landing. And, if you save hino from all 5 forts before the next blood moon, he gives you a diamond as a reward (only for the first time you do it). It seems strange to be rewarded like that for something that is not a side quest or side adventure, never really given attention to, and completely optional and easy to miss. Nothing bad happens if you never save hino. He doesnt end up in the forts in any particular order. Its something most players would never find out about.

Hino can also be mentioned by the npcs who read the newspapers, bringing up how there is someone who researches the blood moon who seemed excited to check out a monster fort but that they seem like they wouldnt be able to defend themself. That is the only way you'd find out that someone is captured in a fort if you didnt get gaddisons quest (and assumed hino wouldnt just go to andifferent fort afterwards) or if you didnt just happen to come across hino yourself. From what i remember, this is the only case of an npc mentioning another npc like that, especially one that isnt involved in a questline at all.

So then, why have any focus on hino if he isnt really important to anything? In botw hes even less involed with anything going on, staying at the dueling peaks stable, but hes also the only npc that'll explain the blood moon to you, as hes the only npc who is researching it, or even cares about it at all. My assumption is that he would probably be useful for that one shrine quest that you have to wait for a blood moon to happen, and also to plan ahead to make meals with better bonuses (since the blood moon does that for some reason), but nothing more. Nobody else at the stable mentions him, no other npc mentions him, nobody talks about anyone researching the blood moon. The closest thing we have is that when sagessa is at the stable, she'll sometimes point out that most people that stay there are twins. Hino is the only one who stays at the stable constantly who doesnt have a twin. In totk, more npcs will talk about the blood moon (symin reveals how the blood moon gives you bonuses when cooking which is how i found out about that, and the captains will talk about how the blood moon revives monsters) and yet hino is nowhere to be seen (because he went and got himself captured). Now you cant really use him to determine when a blood moon is happening because he disappears after you save him, and once you save him from all 5 places he shows up in, he disappears entirely until the blood moon happens and the forts are refreshed. You can only tell if you happen to save him on a day that a blood moon will happen. Considering there are no quests where the blood moon is necessary, there probably wasnt a reason to keep hino around for the same purpose, though he does still talk about the moon phases every day like he used to.

Now, the main thing about hino that is interesting that is also fairly easy to miss in both games is that, not only is he the only one who is researching the blood moon, he is also the only npc in the ENTIRETY of both games that is affected by the blood moon. Its a little bit different in both games and ive already made posts about everything that happens to him, but basically he goes crazy and his text turns red, something that doesnt happen with anyone else in either game. It seems to be a full on physical reaction, not just him getting overly excited or agitated, but rather something that is indeed paramormal, and yet somehow partly disconnected from malice and gloom. And this is NEVER acknowledged in either game. By anyone, not even him. He'll at most say that the blood moon makes him "feel alive", but the way that he acts is a lot more... intense than just that, and to never acknowledge it fully seems to imply, to me at least, that he isnt actually fully aware of what happens to him.

But why focus on that part of him and then never do anything else with it? Why make him the only one like that? Why make him the only one who gets captured? Why make him seem like he should play a bigger part?

I dont know! And thats the frustrating part. Everything about him in totk wouldve worked as a side adventure, and yet. Nothing. It even wouldve made sense to have him in lookout landing just because he can tell when a blood moon will happen and im sure that would be very helpful for the monster control crew to be able to prep in advance. He just seems like he would have some part to play in something, but he doesnt. You just rescue him over and over again (something he himself points out) and you just get rewards over and over again without end, similar to addison who gives you similar sets of rewards every time you help him but has a point where there is nothing else to help him with. Its just so odd that thats just the way it is with him.

Even we know so little about the blood moon. Its implied that its a seperate thing from the whole demon king thing that happened, so we just have no idea why it happens and why it functions the way it does other than a great evil power can harness the blood moon to their advantage, like ganondorf did. And for some reason, not a single person in the history of hyrule for whatever amount of time that botw and totk takes place in has ever cared enough to figure anything out about it except hino, and because of that he has absolutely nothing to work with except his own observations and so nothing he tells us about the blood moon is anything we dont already know. I guess it doesnt really help that he doesnt seem to talk to people all that much, considering nobodys ever cared to help him with it either or try to find where he is. He just feels like more than just some guy with a hobby, like he can offer more to us if he was just allowed to. But hes just a really weird npc that seems otherwise normal... and hes my most favorite character in both games because of it.

Aries: I’d probably say 50% venus 25% moon 15% sun — honestly this is kinda hard for me cause my best best friend is an Aries moon and I get along very well with Aries moons however… this one girl that I broke off all contacts with cause she was obsessive ( she still hasn’t stop💔💔 even though we stopped talking for 2 years, super creepy) 50% venus because omg literally almost every single lovely person I know has that placement it’s mad. maybe it’s bc my venus conjuncts theirs (I’m also an aries venus) they express love in a way I adore so 💕💕 for aries sun, 25% because I’m only close with one aries sun but she’s literally so fly I love. but she says some weird stuff occasionally though she’s too unfiltered HAHAHA love that.

Taurus: definitely taurus moon 50% and taurus mercury 50% — taurus moons are literally the cutest people ever. idk why but all of y’all are like little hamsters in my eyes. taurus moons remind me so much of hamsters. many of you are probably leaders and I love being around you guys. super sweet and always there when I need y’all muah muah. people always stereotype you guys as lazy people but every single taurus moon I know are the most hardworking people ever. super admirable individuals 😚😚 those who have natal taurus mercury people are the funniest. y’all are like LOWKEY old souls. very good people to be in a group project with cause they always voice out the best opinions and ideas. they are also really relatable individuals they say things that many people would like relate to idk how to describe it, meme worthy i guess?? Gemini: mmmm I’d say 50% gemini suns and 50% gemini risings. honestly, I haven’t met many gemini placements 😭 my sister is a gemini rising so i might be a little biased HAHAH sorry my bad my bad. i love gemini risings they always give me one of the best first impressions. i tend to get along really well with gemini risings and tend to gravitate towards them hehe. also for gemini suns, most are pretty cool. i realise that gemini suns tend to be really nice and grounded when you meet them but when you get closer to them they’re little devils IN A GOOD WAY hahah. all my interactions and memories with gemini suns are actually really good. they always promise a good time 🙏🙏

Leo: leo moons 🙏🙏 y’all are so chill. literally are the 😐 people ITS SO FUNNY . Scorpio: scorpio venus — I really love scorpio venus individuals omg. they’re always there for you and always ready to attend all your big moments without fail. I had this one friend who has a scorpio venus and she take time out of her own busy schedule to train me for my interview and we stayed at the place until like the sunset it was so wholesome. not only did she do that but she was with me when I got my interview results like I was so shocked I thought she stayed cause she also had something to do afterwards but turns out she had nothing to do and she planned to wait for me and leave right after omg i literally melted. I treasure her so much and because of that I’ve always had a good impression of her. super sweet individuals. little cinnamon buns, warm and sweet. they also really are big on physical touch cliché I know but it’s real HAHA. everyone should have a scorpio venus friend or significant other 😭😭💋💋

Sagittarius: sagittarius moons — out of all my close friends in my click, half are sagittarius moons, it’s literally mad. they’re such unique individuals all of them have different personalities even though they have the same moon. but one thing they all have in common is that they find the weirdest stupidest unfunniest jokes funny. it’s mad. I can pull out a photo of a cat on the ground holding a fish and they’d be cracking up like mad. they all really enjoy being around positive and responsible people, people who are like them. they always burst out laughing idk y they try to hold their laugh but they never laugh normally. I love them though it’s always so comfortable around them MUAHHH💋💋

A Huge Update Post!!!!!!

This bracket has been quiet recently but now it is time to resume it. But I have a buncha changes to make bc let's face it, this bracket? It's an unorganized mess lmao

Congrats to our last winners!

Also I was thinking of going back to doing 2 groups of contestants at a time again, y'know 8 votes at once. Because let's face it this bracket is huge & honestly some of the entrants I kiiiind of wish I didn't put in.

Example of what I mean: Hanamusa. Don't get me wrong I love that ship, they've brought me so much comfort. But honestly they got like 600 votes. & Something about seeing them bring in THAT MUCH ATTENTION but none of the other polls got anywhere close to that kind of attention & knowing they'll probably just completely sweep the entire thing makes me think putting them in was not a great move. If only because it's gonna be super unfair & also makes me a bit sad that none of the other parts of the bracket are gonna get that much attention. I SWEAR IF I EVER TOOK THEM OUT IT'S NOT BECAUSE I HATE THEM IM HAPPY IF THEY WIN ITS JUST

What do you think of Off the Grid Nightmare? And what do you think stikbot needs to have a full return?

ehhhhh i have mixed feelings about it. i've talked about it in the discord a bit, and i still stand by what i said for the most part about the foreshadowing (or lack thereof cough cough) and pacing being kind of not good.

(long rant ahead!)

this point has been done to death by basically everyone in the stikbot fandom, but i'll say it again: the original off the grid was so popular because it was aimed at a much older audience. it took itself seriously for the most part, even if it was kind of corny sometimes, and the story was thought out and interesting! being created by moonshine animations also helped, i'm sure. nightmare doesn't have the same vibe because i do believe it was heavily sanitized to appeal to that sweet sweet "7 and under" demographic.

im not gonna lie the story is weaksauce. i love that the nightmare realm is being explored, but it almost feels like the new series isn't doing it justice, y'know? its as if they're trying to cram so much into just 22 minutes of animation that the entire thing loses so so much quality. and its honestly not really interesting, either. sanitation strikes again, making the dialogue and characters feel like happy meal toys compared to the og. the stakes are nonexistent because EVERYONE knows that nothing bad is ever going to happen to striker, and the new monsters don't feel like a threat. they feel like a joke! i get the vibe that the story was still on the first draft in the meeting room and the team just said "fuck it, that's what we're going with."

im personally biased against the new VA's because im an og fan 4 life, but i do think they're alright ngl. the animation is noticeably choppier, but im not going to really drag that point out. i never expected it to be as good as the og, so i don't really care, but it'd feel wrong to not at least mention. im mostly just pissed that they massacred my boys like this through the lackluster plot and writing. nightmare had the chance to be soso good and they fucked it up!!! rahh!!!!

hard to say. if i could go back in time and somehow rewrite otg:n, i would have turned it into an epilogue story set years into the future, with a new cast and plot, with a changed world that is obviously still the stikbot universe and story we all know and love. (or. y'know. ACTUALLY CREATE THE GREAT STIKBOT WAR PREQUEL YOU PROMISED US AND THEN NEVER DELIVERED ON. @/STIKBOTCENTRAL. ahem. that is a rant for another day.)

as much as i want to, obviously i can't go back and right the wrongs of the past, so what now? i think stikbot needs another series aimed at an older audience. they're obviously trying to milk OTG for all it's worth, and that grittier vibe was what made it a success. but i do think it's time we officially retire OTG. it was fun, but we need something fresh and new! with literally everything else on the stikbot central channel being baby proof tho, i don't really see that happening unless they really change up the writers room over at stikbot central headquarters. moonshine carried the entire series fr and we need someone else like him who actually knows how to write a good kids show @ zing like. right now. its dire.

Number one ummm Haru 🥺 mostly because of nepotism I will not deny that… but waaa mommymommymommy just imagine having tea parties with her… she would have lovely stuffed animals that she would let you cuddle all you want… even though she was the type of kid to keep her toys so neat and tidy you’d think they are brand new even now so maybe you would b worried about messing them up but she would not mind! she knows how to wash them without damaging them if they are properly messy and if they are just getting to look “well loved” she thinks that is sweet!! oughhhgh imagine wearing the sweetest little outfits she picks out for you… I love her sooo much waaa

Number two… is Makoto probably! She is more obvious I think than Haru? Because Makoto is the responsible one! She’s mama friend! She is good at planning and making sure everything goes well! Like she will make sure she always has some of your baby things with her even if you are big Just In Case and she prepares cute lunchboxes! You can go on picnics nd stuff with her or maybe they are for school :0 nd also. Buchimaru. Friend to you both. I like it when cgs like cute things as well 🤍

Number three is Ann iii am trying so hard to not be too biased I would put her higher if I let myself be more biased. She just ouuughg waaa she is so sweet 🥺 I’m SO sorry that I can’t have a coherent thought about her. Mmmmm sharing lots of desserts! Spoil. Each Other >:) even though uh oh sometimes you end up with tummy aches together also </3 cuddle all better 🥺 nd mmmm Ann does dress up with you waaa she is good at. Fashion so you know when she says you look soso cute then t means a lot!!

Number four is Ryuji ough he’s like. Big brother most EVER he deserves to be in a rank together with Ann I think together they r like. Cool big brother and sister who let you join in on their big kid games but r soso patient with you if you don’t get them. SO so sorry to Ryuji to not say as much about him as th girls I promise I lovlovlov him it is just. Hard to Organise My Thoughts the longer I spend writing this hdkdjdjd I like him so much

Number five is Yusuke ough he does. Arts and crafts with you mainly like ough wht f he draws a picture and then you colour it in… obviously fingerpainting. Nd mmm he can paint your face like your favourite animal if you want! You make a picture for him and he goes oh your attention to detail is exquisite little one and then he puts it somewhere special 🤍 he doesn’t put on a baby voice for you at all he doesn’t get the appeal

Number six is Akira I’m SORRY the only reason he is so far down is because he’s way more baby to me 🥺 I know this is not a cg → baby ranking but. It Does have an effect on his ranking. Although just a teeny one because if I didn’t have to give them all their own numbers they would all be number one 🥺 mmm he is good at caregiving but not a caregiver you know. Like he is. Thoughtful and kind and lovely but he’s also just a baby it is like a little kid with a hamster like… yes he is so good at taking care of it but maybe don’t leave him unsupervised for too long. You know. Like especially if you are doing something fun while little he will start to feel little as well 🤍

Number seven is Morgana I’m sorry but he is. Kitty adjacent. He cares for you as much as a kitty can!! He can cuddle with you and be a weight on your chest and nuzzle into you but he cannot make a bottle or be cuddled INTO or help you get ready for bed. He tries his best though 🥺

Number eight is Futaba I’m SO SORRY I like her SO MUCH and she is not BAD at caregiving she is like Akira… she is lovely at caregiving she just needs to also be reassured throughout or she would worry she is doing it wrong 🥺 she regresses too but like. Not quite baby she is like tween and perhaps then is when she does best with littler regressors cuz she can feel like a cool big sister and show off all her cool stuff

Number nine is Akechi. I’m sorry except I am not because this guy is the only person I am confident on the placement of. He is either the fussiest grumpiest baby or he is easily irritated by kids. If he is trying to take care of someone he would not SHOW that but. You know

still on about 2-4 miles! putting this under a cut because it is quite long and uninteresting. i promise i have thoughts on this case that arent just Mad i will try to word those better to share soon

i DO feel like i am being childish because i’m very very upset about that one thing that happens at the beginning of the trial but i hope it’s not that...i fell like. i’ve talked before about how aa flinches away from implying anything that miles actually Did during his time as vk’s protege and how i think that’s kind of cheap (if you are going to say phoenix became a lawyer for these reasons then COMMIT!!!) and even though i like miles very much (shocking to hear im sure) its very clear that these games ALSO like him and so don’t want him to be wretched. that shows up in most of his other appearances in these games! it feels obvious

so! of course, having said that! 2-4! WHY DID HE SAY THAT! i have wracked my brain trying to come to terms with this! i’ve finally played the part where the game attempts to justify this and well whether it’s because i’m biased or because it’s genuinely not good, i am not pleased about it. the leap this game takes just doesnt make sense, whether you interpret the jumping point as 1-4 (as originally intended) or 1-5. it is hard enough to take this scenario as it’s written, because before asking “how would these characters behave in this situation”, you have to CREATE the situation, and the situation created here is: bad! and i tend to dig my heels in and go “i’m not going to acknowledge that this happened because it’s shocking for shocking’s sake and i hate it”, but this method doesn’t really work as you’re playing the situation obviously

the most direct address of the response to adrian’s refusal to talk about herself in court (which, by the way, every character who talks about it is also mystified that miles said That Thing He Said. just want to note that) goes something like “That wasn’t like you at all. You could have made her testify as many times as you wanted, but to go that far...” To which miles says “But she wouldn’t testify about That until I said something. The courtroom is a garden of judgement. I am putting myself on the line when I stand in there. And that’s why I made the witness do the same...it’s only natural.”

which. HOOTS. this is quite an explanation and at the same time that it’s incredibly INCREDIBLY rife with implications i don’t buy it as an excuse for the game doing that fhksdj

i don’t think this is the worst explanation and in fact i think there are ways in which it could work. in the previous game, miles floated the idea that he followed in manfred’s footsteps to punish himself. following that line of reasoning, this is SURE something. as we know already, he and adrian have this common ground of Choosing Death. when he returned, he almost immediately got told that he should have stayed dead by maybe the two most important people in his life. because of 1-5, we’ve also already seen how the judgement he faces has affected him (and my god i have some thoughts on that but i don’t want to get into it here). putting the pieces together, him dredging up adrian’s past in detail is a lot of things. it is a way to drag her down with him, it is a way to deflect judgement onto her, it is a way to punish them both for being Weak(TM)(TM)(TM). when he talks about his Departure later, even though it’s the most honest he has been about it yet, he still refers to it as “leaving the prosecutor’s office”. when talking to adrian, though, he refers to her ideation as “choosing death”, which like. is the same wording he actually used when he left. that makes it feel like...he won’t acknowledge it himself, but when faced with adrian, he sees something that means they’re both on the line. it’s got some Implications! justice for all has been a pretty decent game for characters not saying what they mean. i think that theoretically this works.

HOWEVER and i’m sure you guessed there was going to be a However, i don’t think this makes sense for miles after the first game! not after 1-5, CERTAINLY, and not even really after 1-4. frankly, this game starting after 1-4 originally is borderline nonsensical. some really, REALLY good character shit comes up as a result of miles’s storyline in this game, but it’s also so transparently here for drama. it’s very very frustrating! i think the discussion between phoenix and miles during phoenix’s crisis of faith in this case is rich, but i also think in the context of this series as a whole, it is kind of soup! investigations comes later and clarifies that years later, miles is still struggling with what he wants to do (which kind of rules and also i think points to how restless his role as a character is). actually, looking at j4a miles after playing investigations is sooooo much. investigations says he has this desire to find the truth that has persisted even under manfred’s teaching, even though he gets punished for it, and turns his face turn in 1-3 into this thing that has been gnawing at him his whole life coming back into the light (even as he tries to bury it). there’s not really anything in j4a miles that is represented that isn’t done better in another game. this place where he is  quietly leading phoenix to draw his own conclusions about what he wants to do is interesting, but it also doesn’t feel like miles.

there is SOMETHING here that isn’t really in any other miles iteration, though, and this IS relevant to me, and it is the thing that has been like. hammering on me the entire time i play this case. which is the adrian stuff. him doing this to put adrian on the line as well as a statement of punishment towards the both of them doesn’t make sense to me. not everyone has to immediately grow and learn from their mistakes once identifying them, but to have miles disappear and figure out for himself what his role means only to come back and immediately use it to punish himself by proxy again doesn’t feel like it rings true. and, of course, for him to use this to punish adrian...is cruel. it’s abjectly cruel. it is a cruelty he doesn’t display in any other case, really. not as a rookie, not with sebastian, not in any form that we ever see. everyone who knows him and HAS known him in his previous forms is still upset and stunned by this, and, being in the future where other games have come out to expand on this character, its like. this stands out! this stands far out! this stands out like lorikeet stands out among pigeons!

i hope this isn’t me just...being mad that a character i like is bad, i think i’ve made it clear that i wish the game would push him on his worse traits more and that i think wanting every character you like to be always right and good is boring so if this is just that same urge manifesting i’ll be very embarrassed. but i just don’t think this needed to happen like this! i don’t! with everything else, with EVERYTHING that the game says about adrian and celeste, “my mentor was a strong woman she wouldn’t do this over anything”, “she’s a person who depends on other people”, adrian hating herself for her perceived weakness, most of the other women that appear in this series as bit parts, this feels like just another manifestation of that misogyny along with the pointless Shock that has accompanied miles’s entire role in this game.

i think that you COULD suggest that this makes sense. it could. if you ignore that this was written by someone, and you accept the explanation offered along with the other character work done in this game for miles, it’s not NOTHING. miles is kind of a hypocrite. he’s cryptic and indirect when talking to phoenix. it is possible that he regresses after returning and being greeted pretty coldly. not all development is linear. it is also an artifact of the games being made that his portrayal in 1-5 came about long after this game was written. but overall i just feel like. i really.......i really think this case is just Bad. the game’s overarching themes and character arcs are something, the themes introduced in this case are Something (adrian has what fandom klavier wishes he had essentially), but it all feels like its just a cudgel to excuse the deluge of abuse and exploitation heaped on celeste and adrian and it sucksssssssssss

tldr (attempt) i dont think this miles interpretation is without foundation. but it feels cruel in ways the game has never committed to showing anywhere else BUT in portraying the women in this case, and if they’re trying to actually go “see? demon prosecutor” it is FAR too far along to be doing that and it never shows up anywhere else so i’m not buying it. don’t write a game in one month next time

i think everyone was in that place before, but love, it takes time to truly appreciate your looks. you know, i'm someone who always finds something pretty in a person and i think that changed my life a bit because overtime i started seeing myself like this too. i was always judgemental to myself but thought that even "flaws" looked normal or good on others but never on me~ it was hypocritical thinking, but all of us often find ourselves thinking that way. what i want to say is that judging isn't good at any point, we don't judge strangers and our lived ones do why would we judge when it comes to things that we were born with like our bodies and faces. our body is a place where we live, there's no point in judging it! i think every person is beautiful in their own way, and i'm sure that someone like you who has such a beautiful personality is just as beautiful outside, there's no way that such a beautiful soul does not have just as gorgeous shell haha i know that it's impossible not to compare ourselves sometimes, but if you're not satisfied with the way you look there is always a way to change that, but believe me that you don't have to. you don't have to "fit in" to be beautiful and you don't have to look special or different to be beautiful. outside appearance does not guarantee anything love, so please don't rush and please be kind to your body ❤️ it's beautiful just as it is, believe me

How the AOT girls (+ Hange) would propose:

Annie: Annie is very shy and reserved, her proposal would probably be super low-key. She will probably propose while you two are walking on an empty place. Her hands would tremble as she pulls out the small black box and she would kneel in front of you. She would only mutter a small “will you marry me?” since i think she has a hard time expressing her feelings. And of course you say yes, pulling up your shy girl into a kiss. She has definitely been trying to get the courage to propose for a while and will be so happy when you say yes. 

Since she is not a big fan of crowds, she would also like the wedding to be small (maybe 20 people max) but if you have always dreamed of a large wedding we all know she would make an exception, she has a soft spot for her little princess.

Mikasa: She would be planning the proposal for months and when the time came she would be so emotional. Definitely cries while trying to propose and has a super emotional speech for you about how much she loves you and how she wants to spend the rest of her life by your side. She would propose in a place that has a significance to both of you and her proposal would be super thoughtful. 

Sasha: she is definitely one of those people that propose every time you go out to get dinner to get free food. So naturally the proposal would happen at a restaurant. When she opens the small box, instead of the fake ring she uses for her fake proposals, you see a very expensive looking ring. She had a bashful smile on her lips and that’s how you realized she meant it this time. Let’s just say food isn’t the only thing Sasha ate that night. 

Pieck: She woke up one morning before you, usually you wake up before this sleepy girl. She took the time to admire your peaceful features and the way you snuggled up to her in your sleep. She realized she loved you so much, and wanted to be with you forever so, when you woke up she proposed. There was no ring, just a promise that she was going to take care of you for the rest of her life and of course you agreed. Don’t worry she will definitely propose again later, she just couldn’t hold her words in.

Hange: Hange has the craziest ideas, they are a scientist after all. Their proposal would be simple, you both often share annotated books, at the end of every book they annotate for you, they leave a little note. It always says things like “i really fucking love you” or “you are mine” or a small thing from the book that reminded you of them. The day they propose they wrote “will you marry me” on the last page and after you read it you looked up at the quizzically and they pulled out the small red box, kneeling in front of you.

Albedo

He’s the artist you catch by the riverbank on your way back from work, never seemingly bored of what he does for, what was it, almost three months now? you’ve never spoken to him nor approached his side, only admired from afar. His stance is unmoving and if you didn’t peer twice enough it might have looked like he was simply a statue. You’ve caught glimpses of his work over his shoulder but they are always of the same river. The same stream that brings in new water from the lake even though it may all look redundant. 

One day you look in a hurry on your way to relax at home, and this time there isn’t a glimpse of water in the picture. Not even a hint of the familiar vibrant blue. There is still blue, though. It’s lighter and had appeared in his paintings prior. 

It’s the color of the sky that now takes up the majority of the page. As your eyes glance lower there’s the color of the grass, stroked with fine lines to show their movements with an implied wind. And there is something else, or rather someone else, running along the sidewalk, gaze ahead with light in their eyes. And in this moment you take a pause only to realize he’s glancing back at you.

“You know, I don’t mind if you bother me,” he begins, gesturing you closer and taking your hand as you draw near. You sigh and lean your forehead against his shoulder. 

“You spend so much time with me at home. I thought you would enjoy a little peace and quiet to yourself here and there,” you can feel Albedo shake his head at your answer, lifting your face so he could kiss the tip of your nose. He stares at you for a few moments with a fond look on his face.

“You are my peace and quiet.”

Childe

You are sure it’s going to be this time. It had better be the very last time, at least. Weeks of going through his disposed calls and hidden clues that do nothing but taunt you while they lead to a dead end. You can tell he’s been in the game for years but unluckily for him, you have as well. Well-known, and world-renowned, there isn’t one person that has ever slipped from your grasp and gotten away with anything. 

But he really does have more fun than he should and credibility is on the line here.

It’s a dark alleyway he’s asked you to meet at, leaving a note at your front door. You should have been concerned, but it wasn’t like he had a motive to do anything to you except ridicule your line of work. As a detective, it wasn’t hard to deduct that all he did was borderline almost cross the law and cause trouble for the authorities. 

If anything, he was more a nuisance than a criminal, so why were you here?

“You came,” his voice cuts through your thoughts, an uncomfortable gleam of blue irises meeting you. He sounds nonchalant, even going as far as to lean against a large crate. You scoff and cross your arms. “Oh, come on don’t be like that.” He pouts and you resist the urge to sock him in the face.

“What do you--” his arms wrap around your waist and pull you to him where you now realize just how close you walked to his figure. It’s a gentle hold, something you weren’t expecting and there’s a grin on his face. It wipes off completely when he feels cold metal through his shirt, right where his heart is.

“And cut!” The director yells and you drop your arm, giving a face to the other actor as he pulls you into a large hug.

“Ahh, you got me there!”

Diluc

It’s only a cold glare or silence that comes your way at the dinner table. Even if he hadn’t said much during the whole ordeal, his actions spoke much louder and represented their distaste of you.

He is clearly uninterested. 

But your guardians simply ignored his looks and attributed them to his persona, his demeanor, because how else should the CEO of Dawn Winery act. They think that their business is on par with his and would go as far as to use their only child in a proposition of marriage to expand their assets. And while their fortune is certainly nothing to laugh at, not a sound resides when comparing that to the Ragnvindr’s.

You’ve been of age to make your own decisions for years but they still do so for you. To them, you’re simply a pawn in their schemes but what makes it worse is that they truly are aware of such. 

But so does Diluc. 

He ends the dinner early and calls for one of his workers to bring around the car you had arrived in. He bids a stoic goodbye to your guardians but gestures for you to stay, much to their delight. They eye you with “you know what to do” etched into their glances and the door shuts closed. 

You wait for a few moments before turning around to look at his and he has a hand running through his hair. “You weren’t kidding,” he gives a dry chuckle and your shoulders relax. “It seems that this plan of ours has to be set in motion yesterday.” You laugh at how perplexed he looks before saying an ‘I told you so.’ 

This was supposed to be business, a gain for more money without caring for the feelings of those involved. But Diluc wasn’t that kind of man. He’s known you long enough, been with you long enough to know who you are but not quite who your guardians were. 

“Regardless, my love,” he takes your hand and presses a kiss to your palm before laying it on his cheek,

“Let’s get married.”

Xiao

“You clearly don’t know what you’re doing,” his comment makes you frown but you continue on with your arrangement. It’s the first job you’d had since Cafe Celestia closed down but you had no clue how much work went into being a florist. You assumed that putting flowers that looked nice together was it but the owner doesn’t see it that way.

“I would be much better if you gave me a hand,” Xiao looks unimpressed at your poor excuse of a pun but it doesn’t stop him from coming over. While most would have been terrified to speak to him in such a manner, he wasn’t as scary as one might have thought. Xiao’s quiet but not rude; he won’t make a move to start conversation but he also won’t be so quick to end one.

He has tattoos snaking up both arms and some along his neck but he handles all his flowers delicately, making a few of the elderly women who pass by his shop wave when they see him watering outside. 

His hands come beside your own, fixing up a chrysanthemum in place that you swore you had placed in the correct orientation, thanks to being trained under his meticulousness. You feel his fingertips brush with yours but to both of your surprises, neither of you move away.

You avert your attention from the contact and instead settle on the paper he had given you when you started this bouquet. It was an odd order you never had to fill and it had come near the end of closing. Yes, it was dark and nearing nine pm now but this shop’s owner was never “one for the sun” as some might say.

Pink daisies, lilac roses, and red chrysanthemums. Since you have been working at the shop for a while, it’s kind of required to know what each flower is meant to say and not to inflate your own ego, but you’d assume this was one of shy confession. 

When you look back the bouquet, your hands are on the counter and Xiao placed a neat bow around it to keep together. It’s also held in the slightly holographic wrapper you suggested he implement and there standing behind it is him with your items. 

“Go home now, it’s late.” He comments and you gratefully take your stuff from him. When you ask when he’d be leaving, he only shakes his head and turns to head to the back, possibly checking stock again. He does say one more thing as you get ready to leave.

“Don’t forget the bouquet. It’s from me to you.”

Hey. Newbie here. Ive noticed some of your works include non consent or dubious consent as well as some “consensual” physical assault or contact (shoving,smacking,slapping). This is a very personal question so if it hits too close to home for you I understand you wanting not expose that. Do you and your fiancé participate in those acts? I found you from a sweet Henry blurb and started following but when I saw some of the dark things I got concerned. It’s my first time being introduced to that type of writing so I originally thought you may have been writing about your life through the lens of a character. Some ppl do this as a cry for help. It seems as though this is a common form of writing on tumblr though. I guess im trying to make sense of it. I’ve always associated those things with abuse or sexual assault so to see it written differently I guess it’s one of those things where my brain isn’t allowing me to adopt a new understanding of it. Is that scary for you? To be under someone’s complete control? Has the physical part ever gone too far? How to you even present that to your partner? I would think asking someone to be physical with you may trigger some concerns but I’m sure he is very compassionate and protective of you. And as for your questions, me and my bf don’t participate in cnc or dubcon within our relationship so I can’t speak for how that is but I’ll try and answer the rest of your questions in a way that will hopefully make sense. So we have a dom/sub aspect to our relationship where he is more dominant and I do like something called impact play and am quite submissive and masochistic in a sexual sense so there is rough sex involved in my relationship at times and there is bondage and choking and slapping and spanking and more bdsm centered kinks but in my writing I do explore fantasies of a darker tone and just writing in general that’s like a thriller story but the dark or twisted/violent things I may write in those stories aren’t my own experiences or a cry for help I promise!

I’m not sure how familiar you are with bdsm but it is best practice to have an open conversation with your partner about your kinks and limits, soft and hard limits, boundaries, safe words, aftercare, etc before engaging in anything and the same applies for cnc or dubcon or other darker/taboo kinks so that it can be done as safely as possible and within everyone’s limits who are involved

In terms of the physical slapping or spanking, choking, just being handled roughly personally it can be scary but in a way that excites me because I know I’m safe and it’s with someone I trust that knows my limits and boundaries and won’t cross them and if it ever does become too much or goes too far I know and trust that I can always say my safe word or ask for things to be dialed back and things will stop and I can check in with my partner and stop completely or continue

My partner does have the control when he is being dominant either sexually or in general in our realtionship but again that’s within specific perimeters that we discussed and agreed upon beforehand so it isn’t scary to give him and allow him to have control over me or things that I am comfortable with him having control over, it actually feels safe and allows me to feel taken care of and relaxed and held in his hands essentially. I enjoy being submissive (again within my limits and this will vary from person to person which is why discussion of this and communication is key especially with darker kinks) and the physical aspect of it is still done with absolute care and safety in mind!

Your question about presenting darker kinks to a partner simply starts with being able to maturely and responsible discuss sex and what that would look like in the relationship, all about good listening and communication and respect and trust. Things like dubcon or cnc fantasies or fantasies of kidnapping roleplays, knife play, etc can’t be initiated right away, trust needs to be gained and earned first ideally and I think for most people it is that way, they develop a relationship with someone, a sexual relationship is established and from there things are added or explored and those darker things hopefully are brought in with care and an easing into it especially if one or all people involved aren’t experienced in all of that

Asking my partner to be a little more physical with me or to handle me roughly/how they wanted did bring up concerns which led to discussions and a slow easing into those things I was asking for and things he also wanted to try out. He is very protective and caring for me which is why I feel so safe engaging in some of these things and he of course has his limits as well with what he’s comfortable doing to me and not. There hasn’t been a time things have gone too far but that’s because we have a system in place where I give him a sign when I need things to be taken down a notch or to slow down so it doesn’t even have to get to a point of too far if that makes sense! Whether you participate in them irl or just like to read or write dark scenarios and dark themes I think most of us try and do proper research and give it the respect it needs to be done safely!

For your other question, noncon and dubcon, etc actually wasn’t something I understood at first or really thought was for me. I think I read a story or a fanfic with noncon themes and it was hard for me to read, I was a little confused but also felt enthralled with the storyline and the suspense and dread and lack of control there was, so I explored it a bit more and it took me some time to get used to it and understand it and eventually I decided I did enjoy those things, some of which I felt comfortable introducing to my actual life and some not

ok so I read your view on GX rivalshipping and how things would get messy when johan shows up because I was curious about another GX rivalshippers opinion, and holy you and I have the EXACT same thoughts.

Ive went on and on about how manjoume as a rival (and as someone who could have had the ability to support judai) was tossed aside as soon as johan shows up + turned into the comedic relief chara and nobody ever really knows what the hell im talking about LOL. a big thing for me is just how DIFFERENT that would be for manjoume as well? in the seasons before johan shows up judai is so clingy towards him, always busting into his room and being in his personal space...

then mr. buff arms big smile shows up with his frilly lilac blouse and homo dragon and suddenly judai is like. smitten. which like youve pointed- out who could blame judai? johan is hard to hate and hes kind of perfect in every way. I always imagine what that would do to manjoumes self esteem in particular, because as we all know it IS a bit fragile at times, especially when it comes to being the best he can be.

I think having johan around would make him feel absolutely insignificant not only as someone who LIKES judai, but even just as judais friend. is he really so horrible at being a support that judai needs a stranger to lean on? even though he never asked for judais help much, is he really such a burden when he needs to be saved? why is judai acting like hes never been able to connect with manjoume, who can also see duel spirits, before? whoever said opposites attract obviously havent seen judai and johan! thoughts like that.

I might get a little personal in terms of my view on this, so just... be aware.

The thing is that the way Manjoume is cast aside is just... a big fear of mine. "Sure, we might be friends now, but I'm not all that good and you know it. You won't mean any harm by it, but you'll find someone you like better and I'll be alone again." That kind of line of thought is probably something that goes through Manjoume's mind? He doesn't really... have friends outside of Judai. Maybe Fubuki. And Daichi? Except he disappears into nothingness very quickly. But that's it. And he certainly had none before that: just lackeys who pretended to like him because he was rich and perceived as promising. He lost that and suddenly found himself isolated.

It's nice to think that he bonded with the other members of the gang, but... he didn't. Shou certainly never really stops disliking/making fun of him. You could say it's meant as like... friendly teasing. But it doesn't read that way because there is nothing to indicate actual affection. Kenzan, Aster and the transfer students just... barely interact with him? Like have they actually ever spoken to eachother? I doubt it. Ryo is just the admirable upperclassman. Again, barely any interaction. Asuka is... a mess I don't want to get into, but again, she would probably file a restraining order if she could.

So yeah. Manjoume has one friend and the taller and cooler guy just kind of takes that away. Of course Johan is not aware of this! He wouldn't have been able to do much to change it, either way. It was Judai's own choice and that's what hurts the most, to me.

If shifting the focus and making minor changes to canon is something you like to do, here's a thing I think about a lot. "Teardrop", the Season 3 opening, except it's what Manjoume feels when seeing Judai's suffering and desperation. You know.

I can't bring myself to blame Judai or Johan for it, but I think Manjoume- if he'd been written like an actual character past a certain point- would have been quite devastated by this.

As you said, it's not just being abandoned, it's also being indirectly told that he was never truly someone worthwhile, that he is little more than extra weight. What of his supposed status of equal rival and all that? Nothing. Judai is just... on a different level than him. So Manjoume is simply left to stagger behind in a desperate attempt to chase after greatness. He wasn't good enough for his brothers and Judai stood up for him. But in the end he wasn't good enough for Judai either.

I like to think that Manjoume made an effort to get along with the others. He just didn't quite know how and couldn't just... switch off his more prideful persona. And he ended up paying quite the steep price.

I know I'm extra melodramatic when it comes to my favourites, but it's something that bugs me. I understand why the manga decided to approach Manjoume's character in a completely different way and it's the reason why I like to read Manjoume's personality as a mix of manga and anime canon. I really have to mention this- how can one even pretend that the writers gave a shit about Manjoume when they joked about how stinky he was in a scene that could have been... emotional in some way. Judai frees Manjoume from the influence of the Society of Light by reminding him who he really is (I don't want to talk about Kenzan being too strong to be manipulated because that is fucking stupid and besically the equivalent of saying "ahah, the light got you because you're not strong willed enough @ Asuka @ Manjoume. Get rekt"). And like... great! They are actually showing off how much they care for eachother as friends despite the rivalry! But no. Judai ends up basically saying: "You smell and your coat has stains on it!" and Manjoume's just: "Oh yeah, I'm goth I hate wearing white, nvm."

... I swear someone on the writing team looked at Manjoume and went: "Let's bully him!" Ugh ;; Can you tell I'm hyper biased towards Manjoume yet?

Now for the love letter part (im so sorry for this being so long ✌️)

You said that if we asked suna he woukd say that he genuinely loved mari okay... Ill go ahead and say yes he liked mari he even learned how to love her and he genuinely cared for her BUT and heres where my personal view comes in so maybe ill be biased here still for me that was just a he loves her as in he cares you also love your friends and care for them but he didnt love her- and by this I mean- he could never be fully committed for her. Yes he loved her and he felt happy with her but like track 7 proved everything he would do in the back of his mind was y/n he deeply wished Mari was her and for that he just loved Mari cause he learned how to care about her- but he never forgot who he trully was in love it. Also the happiness he experienced with Mari was pretty much the one I experienced the bliss of having someone there and that bliss also made suna turn a blind eye to all the red flags from Mari cause to him all the jealousy meant she cared and thats toxic but suna was so desperate for some sort of 'she cares' that even all the possessiveness was bliss for him... And that makes my heart clench for suna...

'suna had to put an effort for the relationship' and saddly i feel like mari didnt... Mari didnt care mari was there because she was a fangirl of suna and got lucky, the way she just discarded him so effortlessly that proved-screamed how much she loved him- she didnt. She was just possessive over him she liked the whole 'hes mine' dynamic and suna was the perfect boyfriend cause he was giving her the world... What he wanted someone to do for him.

Also yeah suna and y/n might have been spurred from them being fuck buddies but well love doesnt really have an agenda- they just clicked, understood each other and had chemistry yeah they had tons and tons of sex but feelings started not because of sex but thanks to their deep connection... Also that dsncing scene in track 7 that alone spoke for their whole relationship- that alone is enough to defend their feelings for each other- yes it might jave started just as fuck buddies but ended up in them loving each other deeply and that is enough love after all doesnt need a perfect start. It can start out of the most stupid ways.

You said life with excitement and fun wouldn't be permanent or real.. Honestly i think it could be.. Cause i mean when you love someone that deeply your life always feels exciting even with the littlest things and that the purest kind of love. Even just going for a walk at the beach would be fun for them or even staying up watching movies i believe suna and y/n would always find a way to make their lofe exciting without much effort.

Also it kinda makes me. Sad when i see some anon saying that y/n and suna relationship are toxic? It makes me. hmmm tbhhhh… suna and yn are toxic in a way that they refuse to let each other go when they clearly can’t meet halfway. toxic doesn’t have to be limited in just being mari-like in which they are possessive or manipulative, because then if we’d drive deeper into yn’s personality, then she’d be stringing suna all along and that’s unfair of her. she knows suna wants more and yet she remained being friends with him, which totally isn’t a bad thing, but it’s because she keeps flirting with him and is so romantically comfortable with him that she doesn’t realize it’s hurting suna because he’ll give double meanings to that. their relationship is ‘toxic’ because they’re not entirely good for each other, they’re not that ready to be with one another yet and neither is the world letting them be in peace, so forcing their relationship to a point they’re hurting another is the toxic part.
