i cannot believe its 2024 and there’s people that think cordelia did nothing wrong 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Tumblr media
i apologize for the rant but
i read the original ‘argument’ and well
personally, i think its kinda insulting to the triplets as characters to just diminish everything they experienced as children and say that cordelia was a good mother. to say that “cordelia never had sex with laito and never had sex in front of kanato!” and that it was just blood drinking is like … insane to me.
like. just use your brain. i really don’t wanna go into a long rant about this, but im prettttty sure laito wouldn’t be attempting to ruin all people that still have their purity by forcing them into sexual intimacy and having such a bad perspective of love if he was just asked by cordelia to drink his blood. like seriously, in MB laito even uses the word “love” to get sex with some of the maids, since thats his understanding of love. and who would’ve taught him that? maybe the person he continuously has conversations about love with in his flashbacks. like his mom.
and im prettttty sure kanato wouldn’t be so traumatized by just seeing his mom drink blood in front of him. kanato even learned how to pleasure girls BY what he witnessed crim cordelia. please correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure kanato said in dc that cordelia even made him sing until his voice cords bled. kanato was neglected, ignored even when cordelia was doing something intimate with another — which made him the character he is. bratty, angry, always needing to fight for attention. even in cordelias death, kanato took her ashes and stuffed them into teddy so that he finally could have ALL the attention and all of her that he never could have. even eating them when he felt alone.
im not going to touch on ayato since i think his abuse is the most known, and my point about this is just more on the sexual abuse anyways.
theres no denying ALL of them were abused in their own ways.
my point is, if you say laito never engaged sexually with cordelia and kanato never witnessed cordelia having sex with other men, their character development would literally make no sense. flashbacks appear for a reason in DL, and its to give an explanation on how they developed into the diabolical characters we know and love. if cordelia was such a good mother she would not be shown so often in the triplets routes. i mean, look at shu’s. beatrix hardly makes an appearance in his in comparison to the other brothers, since his explanation on his character development comes from what happened with edgar more than his mothers authoritarian parenting.
i also think people get confused of the difference of liking a well written character and completely justifying what they’ve done. cordelia has gone through her own share of trauma, so it makes sense how she came to be the mother we know, which is an abusive one. but its not an excuse, its just an explanation for her actions. i love her as she’s a great antagonist, but just because i do doesn’t mean i love what she’s done. you can do both.

Tell us everything about the parent trap au immediately please please please
to give u an insanely quick rundown with a wip art i have:
aziraphale as elizabeth. wedding dress designer under his pen name A.Z. Fell. (hes an artist as confirmed in s2 and the whole "drawing on napkins" thing elizabeth would do appeals to me immensely)
crowley as nick. owns a vineyard. I NEED HIM TO OWN A VINEYARD SO BAD. shoutout to Old Vines on ao3 for changing me in a fundamental way. he makes wines and he tends to the vines and he is so passionate about it to an abusurdist degree. he yells at his vines when they arent growing right. you already knowwww.
when they meet for the first time, they don’t meet on a boat like in the movie, they actually meet at a wedding party :J crowley was a wine collector, just starting out. he loved offering aziraphale samplings of his most vintage collection out of impulse. (he likes seeing the way aziraphale savors them) (he’s besotted) Wants to own his own vineyard one day. aziraphale, on the other hand, has dreams of becoming a fashion designer of sorts, always drawing ideas on any scraps of paper he can find. his designs are very old fashioned, but thats like… part of the appeal. his work very much reflects who he is, and the people who flock to it understand that.
they enter this kind of… whirlwind relationship, they get married, and then eventually adopt two golden haired blue eyed baby boys. twins. :J warlock and adam.
they break things off because aziraphale leaves... alluding to their recent breakup in season two, the reason he left was because "we both clearly had very different ideas on where our lives were going. so. i packed up and left." (parallel s2 divorce 😋 they don’t know how to talk to each other) (aziraphale throws a book at his head after this argument, like the hairdryer in the movie LOL. it was pride and prejudice. crowley still has it.)
aziraphale leaves with adam. warlock is left with crowley. crowley eventually leaves London because he finds he cant stand being anywhere near Aziraphale (hes just irresistible in that way), and he goes to California where he finally fulfills his dream of owning a vineyard. a nice one on Napa, Northern California.
Aziraphale’s wedding dresses become more and more well known, Adam grows well-adjusted. Same kid you know from the show and book, natural born leader, a good head on his shoulders. (Aziraphale has no idea why Adam is like that, but he is so proud)
Crowley’s vineyard (The Garden Of Eden) grows and grows… Warlock is spoiled rotten, but he does love actually working at the vineyard with Crowley to and he and Crowley have a really good relationship…
Eventually the kids go to a summer camp together in London (i dont know if they . do this in the UK, but suspend your disbelief if you will) Adam meets The Them there, then meets Warlock after a nutty fencing thing, they kind of hate each other at first and the rest is history :J
side characters UM. LOL. idk……. i mean i kind of know but not really? theres just so many possibilities that make the rounds in my head. chessy could be anathema OR nina (ive had people suggest eric too?) and martin could be newt OR maggie (ive also had people suggest muriel????) gestures vaguely.
as for meredith…….erm…………🤷‍♂️ ive had everything under the sun suggested to me and i still……have no idea. LOL. gabriel, lucifer, shaX, FURFUR, THE WIFE FROM THE NON-SPOILER SPOILERS. I DONT KNOW. IT ALL FEELS WRONG. its hard to come up with this role in particular when these gay bitches literally only have eyes for each other. always. forever. u know. i think lucy is like. the classic answer. but idfk.
ask me about . more things if u want. this is consuming my every thought.
anyways the cover im working on for. for something:

shitGPT
for uni im going to be coding with a chatGPT user, so i decided to see how good it is at coding (sure ive heard it can code, but theres a massive difference between being able to code and being able to code well).
i will complain about a specific project i asked it to make and improve on under the cut, but i will copy my conclusion from the bottom of the post and paste it up here.
-
conclusion: it (mostly) writes code that works, but isnt great. but this is actually a pretty big problem imo. as more and more people are using this to learn how to code, or getting examples of functions, theyre going to be learning from pretty bad code. and then theres what im going to be experiencing, coding with someone who uses this tool. theres going to be easily improvable code that the quote unquote writer wont fully understand going into a codebase with my name of it - a codebase which we will need present for our degree. even though the code is not the main part of this project (well, the quality of the code at least. you need it to be able to run and thats about it) its still a shitty feeling having my name attached to code of this quality.
and also it is possible to get it to write good (readable, idiomatic, efficient enough) code, but only if you can write this code yourself (and are willing to spend more time arguing with the AI than you would writing the code.) most of the things i pointed out to the AI was stuff that someone using this as a learning resource wont know about. if it never gives you static methods, class methods, ABCs, coroutines, type hints, multi-file programs, etc without you explicitly asking for them then its use is limited at best. and people who think that its a tool that can take all the info they need, and give it back to them in a concise, readable way (which is a surprising lot of people) will be missing out without even knowing about it.
i got it to write tic-tac-toe (the standard babee) in python (the lang i have to use for uni ;-; (held at gunpoint here)). my specific prompt was "write me a python program for tictactoe that is written in an object oriented way and allows for future expansion via multiple files"
it separated it into three files below (which i think would run, but i never actually ran any of this code. just reading and judging)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
why does board use display instead of __str__ and __repr__?
why is the board stored as 1d instead of 2d? thats just confusing
why does it never early return aside from check_winner? (not a big issue here but kept on choosing to never early return when i asked it to add more methods)
why is there no handling of non-number user inputs?
why are non-int inputs truncated instead of telling the user that they should input ints only?
why is display implemented like that?
why are so many lines so bloody long (wide)?
why is there a redundant self.check_winner() after the while loop in TicTaacToe.play()? and if it wasnt redundant then you could finish the game without there being anything printed telling you that the game is finished?
why is the only comment useless? (this comment wouldnt be useless if it was a doc comment tho, but it aint a doc comment. speaking of, why is there no doc comments?)
these are the more immediate things i saw, but there are other things that are bad here.
whenever i write * this is where it updated the api without changing any usage of the api.
so i ask it to change board.display into __str__ and __repr__, it changes it to __str__*, it does not add a __repr__. asking it to add a __repr__ 1) removes the __str__ and 2) gives me this (the other methods are unchanged)
Tumblr media
what. the. fuck. this would imply that board takes in an argument for the boardstate, but it clearly doesnt. after 4 more asks it finally has both __str__ and __repr__, without fixing the fact its implying board takes an optional arg, so i get it to add this arg. anything that needs to print the board still calls display btw.
the reasoning it gave for using display over the repr and str magics was this
While using __str__ and __repr__ is a more idiomatic approach in Python, choosing to have a separate display method can still be a valid choice, especially if the display logic is more complex or if you want to keep the __str__ method for a more concise or formal representation of the object.
which, erm what? why would __str__ be for a concise or formal repr when thats what __repr__ is for? who cares about how complex the logic is. youre calling this every time you print, so move the logic into __str__. it makes no difference for the performance of the program (if you had a very expensive func that prints smth, and you dont want it to run every time you try to print the obj then its understandable to implement that alongside str and repr)
it also said the difference between __str__ and __repr__ every damn time, which if youre asking it to implement these magics then surely you already know the difference?
but okay, one issue down and that took what? 5-10 minutes? and it wouldve taken 1 minute tops to do it yourself?
okay next implementing a tic-tac-toe board as a 1d array is fine, but kinda weird when 2d arrays exist. this one is just personal preference though so i got it to change it to a 2d list*. it changed the init method to this
Tumblr media
tumblr wont let me add alt text to this image so:
[begin ID: Python code that generates a 2D array using nested list comprehensions. end ID]
which works, but just use [[" "] * 3 for _ in range(3)]. the only advantage listcomps have here over multiplying is that they create new lists, instead of copying the pointers. but if you update a cell it will change that pointer. you only need listcomps for the outermost level.
again, this is mainly personal preference, nothing major. but it does show that chatgpt gives u sloppy code
(also if you notice it got rid of the board argument lol)
now i had to explicitly get it to change is_full and make_move. methods in the same damn class that would be changed by changing to a 2d array. this sorta shit should be done automatically lol
it changed make_move by taking row and col args, which is a shitty decision coz it asks for a pos 1-9, so anything that calls make_move would have to change this to a row and col. so i got it to make a func thatll do this for the board class
what i was hoping for: a static method that is called inside make_move
what i got: a standalone function that is not inside any class that isnt early exited
Tumblr media
the fuck is this supposed to do if its never called?
so i had to tell it to put it in the class as a static method, and get it to call it. i had to tell it to call this function holy hell
like what is this?
Tumblr media
i cant believe it wrote this method without ever calling it!
and - AND - theres this code here that WILL run when this file is imported
Tumblr media
which, errrr, this files entire point is being imported innit. if youre going to have example usage check if __name__ = "__main__" and dont store vars as globals
now i finally asked it to update the other classes not that the api has changed (hoping it would change the implementation of make_move to use the static method.) (it didnt.)
Player.make_move is now defined recursively in a way that doesnt work. yippe! why not propagate the error ill never know.
Tumblr media
also why is there so much shit in the try block? its not clear which part needs to be error checked and it also makes the prints go offscreen.
after getting it to fix the static method not being called, and the try block being overcrowded (not getting it to propagate the error yet) i got it to add type hints (if u coding python, add type hints. please. itll make me happy)
now for the next 5 asks it changed 0 code. nothing at all. regardless of what i asked it to do. fucks sake.
also look at this type hint
Tumblr media
what
the
hell
is
this
?
why is it Optional[str]???????? the hell??? at no point is it anything but a char. either write it as Optional[list[list[char]]] or Optional[list[list]], either works fine. just - dont bloody do this
also does anything look wrong with this type hint?
Tumblr media
a bloody optional when its not optional
so i got it to remove this optional. it sure as hell got rid of optional
Tumblr media
it sure as hell got rid of optional
now i was just trying to make board.py more readable. its been maybe half an hour at this point? i just want to move on.
it did not want to write PEP 8 code, but oh well. fuck it we ball, its not like it again decided to stop changing any code
Tumblr media
(i lied)
but anyway one file down two to go, they were more of the same so i eventually gave up (i wont say each and every issue i had with the code. you get the gist. yes a lot of it didnt work)
conclusion: as you probably saw, it (mostly) writes code that works, but isnt great. but this is actually a pretty big problem imo. as more and more people are using this to learn how to code, or getting examples of functions, theyre going to be learning from pretty bad code. and then theres what im going to be experiencing, coding with someone who uses this tool. theres going to be easily improvable code that the quote unquote writer wont fully understand going into a codebase with my name of it - a codebase which we will need present for our degree. even though the code is not the main part of this project (well, the quality of the code at least. you need it to be able to run and thats about it) its still a shitty feeling having my name attached to code of this quality.

Seeing people call book Colin abusive and being like "he had no reason to be so mad about Whistledown )):" and like...yeah he kinda did?
Whistledown may notbe as bad in the books but she is in everyones business still, shes spreading gossip, and people do have a desire to find her. Hes afraid of what happens when they do. Because hes right, Cressida, to most people is the more pleasing option because shes popular but not liked and conventionally attractive and people will more easily shrug it off. They'll still be mad but they'll consider it par for the course with her and move on. Some may not even believe her, like Lady Danbury but if no one else comes forward they've no reason to think otherwise.
Penelope, short, chubby, unimportant to most everyone Penelope? That will piss them off. She doesn't have the social capital to keep herself from being ostracized, people will be pissed this person they look down on, a spinster, someone who never even talks, had such control over their lives.
Colins worried, he says it himself, about this, about he risks shes been taking for over a decade. Hes jealous she's found something thats her and he feels like he hasn't done the sames. Hes mad hes been lied to, feels like hes been made fun of with his Eloise theory, but most of all hes in love and hes frightened by the prospect of what could have happened to her. By what still could happen to her if she was found out.
The other scene also often quoted as Colin being abusive is him grabbing her arm at their engagement ball.
Do you remember what happened in that scene?
An issue of Whistledown is distributed midball, the one that ends up giving Cressida enough to blackmail her mind you, the one Colin had asked her not to publish and thought she had agreed not to. Penelopes inner dialog tells us this wasn't planned. She'd planned it for a different ball, so she can enjoy hers, she knows Colins going to be mad, and I bet you she doesn't want to argue on their happy day. Colin grabbing her, while done in anger, has always read to me less as some rage fueled behavior with no thought, but as a way to keep her from trying to sip away. He knows she doesn’t wana have this argument again. He likely doesn't even want to have this argument, but he knows they have to.
People often view this scenes as Colin being physically aggressive and this unbelievabley abusive person. They look at this, and have been yowling about how he treats her so unfairly. This fandon is horrible about not looking at the entire scene. The carriage scene has them arguing, Penelope bites back at him just as much as he snaps at her. Their engament ball fight leads to their first night together. This is them seeing each other at their worst. And in the end they still choose wach other
His anger isn't entirely jealous like some try to paint it. Theres genuine worry, hes afraid for her he says so himself. People keep saying how Penelope is afraid of him but shes not thats made clear several times. She's more afraid of them arguing because she thinks that it'll be enough to make him not choose her.
These arguments are necessary. They help Colin see her as a whole person, it helps him solidify that his feelings are as deep as he thinks. It helps Penelope see him as a whole person as well not just the man shes been crushing on her whole life, which she mentions in the book. It shows that they can get through the big issues in their relationship without falling apart.
And remember Cressida blackmails Penelope. Very much one of the things Colin was afraid of. The only reason he can do the big reveal is because its after they're married, and he tells Anthony and Simon whats happening beforehand. She has far more social capital as a Bridgerton wife than she ever did as a Featherington daughter
Should Colin have grabbed her? Maybe not, but I don't think thats enough to label him as an abusive asshole unworthy of love. You don’t always make the best decision, but one slip, especially one so minor as grabbing your partner so they can't slip away before you get to talk to them about a issue you know they won't like talking about, does not make you horribly abusive like some of you suggest.
And another related side note, a huge thing i see ALL the time, is how Colin's anger comes out of nowhere.
"ooooh in the other books colin doesn't have an angry bone in his body, hes so nice and relaxed, how could Quinn write him as such an ass in his own."
A temper not often showing is not the same as it not existing. When he says he wouldn't marry Penelope in the books? Very much an angry scene. Hes being teased after having her pushed on him by his mother, and hes tired of it and snaps aggressively to make it stop. Colin has always had a temper, it just wasn't nearly as important to the other books thus not explored. I know he says in the book how he doesn't think he has one, but we also tend to push away traits we view as negative when thinking on ourselves.
Anyway, please remember that Show Colin is going to have the worst reaction to the Whistledown reveal, as said by the cast themselves, and I'm kinda living for it.

HEY YOU Hit me with some Julie Su propoganda cuz I'm mostly lukewarm on her character and don't know all that much about her.
OK OK ... well baseline info she's the daughter of dark legion general luger, and half sister of lien-da and kragok, who are twins and both high ranking legion soldiers. when their mother (merin-da) died and luger remarried, ld and kragok hated his new wife (julie-su's mother) (mari-su) so bad they orchestrated her death, info which was they kept on the DL for a long time until js eventually found out about it. memory situation, js is raised by other folks who actually love her and doesn't learn who her blood family is until later. she joins knuckles because she feels inexplicably drawn to him (soul touch) (echidna soulmates) so she defects from the legion to join the chaotix. the soul touch thing sucks and i hate it but this is how it goes. ill talk about my au version of her at the end lol bc things ive built on top of canon are part of the reason why shes one of my fave charas in the series lul
ANYWHO i honestly find it pretty frustrating when people talk about js as just being pink knuckles, shoehorned into the story to give knuckles an obligatory girlfriend, because it really demonstrates that they like. weren't paying a lick of attention to anything because she genuinely has a LOT of personality but since people just go in anticipating anything penders touched to suck they don't even bother to think about her for longer than half a second.
js fills a niche that, imo, could always use filling, especially with regards to girl characters, which is to say shes a well meaning asshole. shes incredibly blunt, she's pessimistic (immediately assumes knuckles must be dead when enerjak returns and they cant find him, tells knuckles not to search a fallen ship that his mother was on because shes probably dead and she doesnt think he'd want to see that). shes terrible at handling interpersonal conflict (knuckles confesses to her that he feels guilty and stressed over all the pressure put on him as guardian and she scolds him and says "this isn't just about you", which results in a minor shouting match when she really had zero intention of starting an argument), she's almost constantly beefing with vector (tbf its because hes sexist he refuses to see past her history as a member of the dark legion). these might suond like cons but i love characters like this LOL and they fit especially well in archie where people love to get mad at each other and make dumb mistakes and it just feels very genuine and interesting and endearing to me. shes rough and difficult but she's also DEEPLY loyal. she'd die for knuckles and the chaotix and the way she interacts with them always makes me soooo ........ im just gonna give some examples i can find.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(knuckles is on the phone with her)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ this was the genuine conclusion of an argument they had and im obsessed with it because both of them suck with emotions so they both give the worlds strangest apology and know that the other means it and they move on. plus putting her arm in front of SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG while theyre confronting eggman even after watching him CHAOS BLAST, primarily because she feels like this is more her fight than his (its about knuckles).
theres def more and i could find them if i was more on top of archie but unfortunately im #narutopilled rn. BUT ANYWAYS. shes just a very fun character with a messy personality and fun interactions and she loves her buddies sm even tho she bickers with them. shes just very special. she fits well with knuckles in a way that makes their relationship actually feel plausible instead of just forcing him to have a girlfriend (tho ofc the writing is fumbled sometimes like. ITS ARCHIE. bffr. but thats the case with literally everything ever in archie so you take what you can and its amazing). also see below. BASED AS FUCKKKKKKK
Tumblr media
and ill discuss my au briefly bc u r asking me my opinion on js and that does play a large role in how i feel abt her, but rly im just expanding on elements of her story that werent discussed as fully as i wouldve liked. her relationship with lien-da is obviously BAD in canon, but theres not a lot of time spent lingering on precisely how lien-da and kragok feel about julie-su as the product of their fathers second marriage to a woman they KILLED because they hated her so much. ive also given her much more internal strife over turning away from the legion, originally joining the chaotix planning to betray them from the inside then being slowly convinced to join them for real after realizing how much she'd been brainwashed by the legion and what its like to have people who truly love and care about you. her story as someone who is trying to find herself outside of her history as a child soldier is something that TOTALLY deserves to be expanded on and its a bit sad that it wasnt explored. but i mean really im not changing her actual PERSONALITY at all because as i discussed shes oozing with it.... im honestly never going to make the full comic i wanted to so at some point im just going to compile all the lore and concept art and stuff into one big post to share. but thats like a spoiler free taste.
she also has a gun. which is fucking awesome because not enough sonic characters have guns. people make shadow the guy with a gun but he hasnt been seen with one since shth. hello....

Can I ask what makes Arlecchino evil? I'm v much a villain enjoyer and like some morally greyness, but I genuinely didn't pick up on a lot of bad stuff with Arlecchino. She was super helpful during Fontaine and seemed to be the only powerful person who cared about helping the common folk when the water levels were rising.
I'm not here to start an argument, just wanna expand my view 🙏
dw didnt think u want to argue! i will also use this to say i wont tolerate arguments, this goes for everyone here
i will talk about sensitive themes under the cut (mentions of when i was groomed/emotionally abused by my adoptive father/mentions of abuse/grooming in general) so if someones not good with this, be warned please and dont click for your emotional comfort.
i really love arlecchino (theres also difficult, personal reasons ig) and id rather wait for her to arrive to get more information than we have so far through other characters/side quests/main quest but well.
her goals aligned with ours in the fontaine quest which is why we have the impression shes a good/nice person, especially considering our other meetings with the harbingers we met so far (signora, childe, scara, dottore) and the situations. shes very calm and diplomatic (lets see how it changes in the next update when we fight her)
but we shouldnt forget how the travellers on their toes the entire time/everytime they come in contact with arle. its because shes a harbinger after all. shes a danger. her graceful politeness and calmness is supposed to have you on guard, make your hairs rise. shes mentioned to be manipulative and shes manipulating others to achieve what she wants by being nice and calm. she has ulterior motives. we should be careful. this is my impression based on my own gaming experience and idk if it was the same w others, but bc of us being on guard around her i was always prepared for her to turn on us until the end of the main quest.
anw, arle is supposed to be intimidating and have you wary. even tho she comes off as nice and polite, having done good and helped in the main story. its bc thats what she wanted and you happened to have the same goal. also lets not forget scaras and childes thoughts about her which already tells a lot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she has two sides. the one we saw in the quest, the graceful, calm, polite face to get what she wants. and the other, the one scara and childe talk about here, the one they call "crazy"
not to mention her codename, "the knave". what does it mean? servant. what else does it mean? "dishonest/deceitful man". basically, swindler. isnt it perfect?
shes manipulative and whatever her "true" nature is, we dont know (yet). she may have "good intentions" here or there but will achieve them no matter what it takes.
as for the thing you can consider as bad; the house of the hearth is an orphanage that raises children into fatui agents. only those who have potential join the ranks while the others are kept close (its not known whats done with them afaik). theyre basically grooming/raising child soldiers/spies.
before the sensitive stuff comes up, for the ppl who dont want to proceed, arlecchino fools/manipulates you into thinking shes a nice person/good parent. its amazing and so in character for her. its also scary how some ppl cant see the abuse/manipulation unless you went through this too or well. just actually read and realize it.
arlecchino is an emotionally manipulative parental figure. now, this is coming from someone who went through heavy abuse/was groomed by their adoptive father who was extremely manipulative and i spot so many things very well known to me. others who went through the same get this feeling. these signs you immediately recognize.
you get punished for the tiniest mistakes and when you get loved, it makes you forget all that was done to you, just for that tiny bit of affection you crave. you try to do your best, to do everything asked and expected of you, not to disappoint the only parent you have and youre dependent on, to be a good kid deserving of love and when you slip up youre in shambles. there was a time i did a tiny mistake by accident and my father said to me in the coldest voice "you broke my trust" and i remember so vividly how it broke me, how i cried until i got sick. i was physically abused before and none of it hurt me more than this. it still gets to me after all those years. emotional manipulation is cruel
what im trying to say is, she came in a time of need. taken as a savior while it just is one abuser swapped out with another. like my adoptive father having me dependent, giving me love i never received and being everything i wanted, making me believe hes everything i need, a common thing abusers do. wanting to do everything youre asked of and do it good, the fear of disappointing and being punished, believing you deserved it bc its your fault and treating your abuser like a savior, being conditioned. this is whats happening.
now, arle genuinely loves and protects her children; its very clear that the life of the children matter to her the most (look at childes line and freminet/lynette etc) - she was one of them too after all. so, its possible to love and still do these. moral greyness etcetc
anyway idk if its understandable or if i can explain it in proper words while maintaining a good distance so ill add the voicelines of the siblings heavily implying this, and also a tweet adressing this that brings it to proper words, better than i can say

tweet here bc tmblr doesnt insert the link properly

it is genuinely hilarious for q!slime fans to be mad at q!bbh for the way he treats slime, considering the reason that he’s so mean to slime is because slime, you know, tried to murder his child. like what are they even mad about? was the heartfelt backpack too mean
old ask sorry for the late reply! but yeah idk why they keep trying to justify it from slime's pov, since thats not what this argument is about. we as VIEWERS understand he was grieving and not in his right mind. but Q!BADBOYHALO obviously wouldn't care about that in respect to his son. like you cant just say to a parent "sorry, im at my mental lowest and thats why i tried to murder your son" and expect said parent to forgive him. we as the viewer can empathize, but expecting q!bad to do the same easily doesn't make sense.
and to be fair to slime viewers! yes, bad has been very cruel in respect to slime's grief! he's like that with most parents whove lost their eggs, because he cares about the eggs above all else and that doesn't leave room for sympathy for their parents. theres also the underlying fear that he could one day see himself in those parents, and that causes him to lash out. these are character flaws, and i dont mind people pointing them out. its just that people lump this in without regard to my first paragraph, which gives an incomplete analysis.
also: bad has very much Moved Past how he used to treat slime. sure, he still does an occasional dig at the dapper murder (because, yeah, ofc he would hold a grudge about that) but has shown very naturally how he's come to respect slime (the backpack, taking him out to dungeons). its frustrating how qslime fans dont take into account this progression because theyre moving on such a slower timeline than qbad fans. and thats ok, but its why me and other qbad fans are over this discourse. its like if qq fans kept bringing up the tallulah custody issue. just boring to analyze on our end.

Tumblr media
Tumblr media
UVE ENABLED ME okokokokok. the sky has been having troubles for fucking millenia for one reason: they cannot create life. they have TRIED they have sculpted THOUSANDS of lands and people and have tended to so much soil but it NEVER works. EVERY eclipse the sun and moon do to try and create life ONE more time and the stars gather around and HOPE but it always falls through.
eventually the tension from all of it became too much and on the very last time the moon and sun eclipsed, shadow snakes COVERING a freshly molded earth, and it didnt work, and it turned violent ! it started small, just an argument, but then crescents were chipped and sunrays where snapped.
heres a note !!!!! the sun and moon are Much, Much bigger than the tiny star gods that serve them. like maggots on a carcass. this is to say that when the forces that keep your "life" together clash hard, its hard to find stable ground! which is to say that heaven ran out of room and stars starting falling out of the sky.
these tiny gods, barely the size of mountains, started falling. some fell into deep cavities in the new earths trenches, others fell onto elavated land and stayed there, some startled crawling, and others fell onto mountains. it all ended the same either way !!!! bodies stacked ontop of each other, craddling each other, blood that kept crossing the line from blue to red to black over and over again, and the sky did not quiet.
EVENTUALLY through the gentle poking and prodding of exposed muscle from skidding on hard dirt and cracked open skulls that couldve either been Chosen Intimacy or a too tired attempt at continuing violence, blood started filling out the world. from those impaled on mountains water flowed down valleys that bigger gods didnt realise they made, flowing down into fingerprint indents that turned into ponds, and down into coasts and down into the trenches. if the stars in the trenches did not die when they fell they certainly died when they had drowned from their own blood and the blood coming from above !
give it a few days, a few storms, and the sun and moon did not even look at each other. they had not realized the newly filled oceans moved alongside the moon like it missed her. they did not realize tiny sprouts of green were filling alongside banks and coasts. they did not realize until fish, made out of recycled body parts, scales opalescent with mismatched colors, started crawling onto land.
and then they realised the one time they abandoned any care for creation, they made it.
storms picked up.
you wouldve thought thatd be a bad thing, but it just spread elements trapped on certain islands to others like a plague.
the early days were FILLED with STORMS and TRAGEDY but no matter How Hard the sun and moon tried life Kept Coming Back, not only that it fucking FLOURISHED !!!!!! and so they had to sit there as they watched their world evolve, start to have consciousness and culture as people started building their societies and finding the ghosts of the coast, the wild, the heights, and eventually when they died unimportant to a greater world, back to the depths where angry caretaker gods sat there and sapped away memory from the dead.
tl;dr the sun and moon Wanted to be in charge of MORE so they Eclipsed (you read into that) and then it kept not working so they beat each other up so hard it emptied heaven of its stars. and then the stars fell onto a very INCONVENIANTLY shaped earth that has sharp blunt edges and FALL DAMAGE and they die. not only do they die they die INTIMATELY !!!! + blood fills up EVERYTHING so theres oceans and rivers now -> the blood makes things come ALIVE FOR ONCE -> divorced sky gods HATE THAT so they try to kill it and FAIL !!!!!!! and now theres life in plants and animals and people ! the ghosts of the stars aka minor gods that fell haunt mountains, coasts, plains, and the bottom of the ocean! and thats the creation myth!
NOTES ALSO. BC THIS SHIT IS DENSE I HAD FUN
the four major locations of ocean, coast, plains and mountain are important bc they have different USES and POWERS and shit. like for example the depths aka the ocean contain the lost ! no living thing SEES the bottom of the ocean bc THATS THE LAND OF THE DEAD !!!!!! THERES A HIERARCHY OF GODS THAT MAKE THE PLACE RUN AND EVERYTHING!!! the spirits that go there are protected/trapped by guardians, are taken care of/subdued by caretakers, and have their senses and identity slowly stripped away until theyre dissolved oxygen in the ocean by weavers !!!!
HOWEVER !!!!!! THE SKY IS EMPTY RIGHT ? AND THE SUN AND MOON FUCKING HATE EACH TOHER. SO THEY HAVE TO FORCIBLY PUT DISTANCE IN THERE! so they take spirits that die as heroes, or important in some way, and make them into NEW stars !!!! to "commemerate their memory" HOWEVER ! the new stars are cursed to have their name forgotten. people will know of legends and titles and ideas, but NOT people.

Yo if you have the energy for stranger things, full on Nancy wheeler character analysis please?
uhh lol wasnt expecting this tbh but uhh sure !
so i think the main thing about nancy is that shes just idk sort of selfish in a way even if she doesn’t like mean to be, she just is (and thats fine! character flaws are cool.)
like i can’t remember what episode but i know it was before barbs death she was complaining about how inconvenient will going missing is or some shit. which yknow not the best way to react to your brother’s friend going missing (yikes)
i think like barbs death is an obvious example of her being kind of selfish, but when she realizes oh shit barbs gone shes literally does everything she can to save her (also note thats when she got involved in wills whole situation)
she gets to kill the demogorgan and it feels good getting revenge for barb
but its still not enough her best friends gone but will isnt will got saved.
and idk i think thats sort of the reason why shes very distant towards mike (why do you get to keep yours and i have to lose mine?) obviously she cant be mad at will so she has to be mad at mike.
in season 2 she like very obviously does wanna be with steve because barb’s basically haunting that relationship. she cant look at steve without feeling bad about barb (not to mention she literally has meals with barb’s parents with him)
and the her and jonathan find some sketchy shit the governments doing and so nance is like maybe if i like expose this i can avenge her again and i can stop feeling guilty all the time so she does that and she feels good for awhile but its not permanent and before she knows it she feels shitty again
in season 3 she’s dealing with alot not only is she dealing with the guilt of barbs death now she’s dealing with the patriarchy (cant she catch a break)
another thing to add is how she selfishly plans to investigate the rat thing (i forgor what exactly it was) and gets herself and jonathan fired. and her whole argument with him which was genuinely so awful of her.
she has a cute little girl power moment with her mom (its weird tbh because on one hand slay feminism on the other its like girl 🤨)
and she starts investigating again then the mind flayers back and i genuinely think a part of her was like maybe if i kill it i can actually avenge barb this time.
then her and jonathan reconcile which btw she doesn’t apologize about her oliver twist comment (idk who to blame her or the writers)
but along the way mike argues with max and yknow instead of defending your brother like a normal sister, shes on maxs side. and its just heartbreaking to see honestly.
they’re literally siblings but they act like they only know each other through a mutual friend (if that makes sense) and i just know in some universe her and mike stop talking. she has a positive relationship with literally everyone in the party except her brother :(
oh and in season 4 her whole plan to kill vecna she was like hey this is the real bitch who killed her let me avenge her again so she makes a plan where she can be the one to kill him so she can be the hero it doesn’t work
(also note the fact that she doesn’t hug mike when they reunite)
idk if i did her justice with this ‘analysis’. idk my thoughts are really scattered when it comes to her also i haven’t rewatched this show in so long so
also wanted to say this i feel like the fandom has a really black and white sense of morality when it comes to the characters which is weird because whats the fun that like flaws make character’s really good also theres this added element of her being a girl and how girls are literally not allowed to be given flaws or else they’re immediately categorized as a bitch by people

ok @theonebyler made some posts about season three and its inspired me to complain about the season because oh lordddd
fair warning this is very disorganized and long and im terrible at expressing my thoughts in words but i need to rant (i said some of this stuff in the tags when i reblogged one of the posts but shhhh)
also this is all my opinion!! if you have a different perspective, thats fine, and im open to other opinions and interpretations
now i will give season three some credit, it wasnt totally unwatchable and upon my most recent rewatch (where i didnt skip season three for once since i wanted a refresher), i did find that it wasnt as bad as i remembered and i could in fact watch it and be entertained, but god do i still have a plethora of problems with it
first and foremost, milkvan. for the first two seasons i thought they were cute, yknow little crushes and sweet moments, but god did season three ruin any chance i had of ever liking them. they made out and argued and thats literally it. it was so obnoxious and uncomfortable half the time and they didnt even properly resolve the argument. sure, we got that shit with the m&ms, and even though mike explained himself earlier during the sauna test, he still deflected blame and that shit lasted for half the season. they never properly talked it through and they just sorta threw a band aid on the root of the problem (which did plant the seeds for season four, but it was still unsatisfying to watch since it was treated like a proper conflict resolution). mike was just generally unbearable the whole time too, and he was just a dick who deflected blame and was totally different from the sweet kid we knew the seasons before. i love mike, but thats only if i just straight up ignore some of the stuff in season three
while, sure, some of mikes behavior could be reasoned by internalized homophobia and a variety of other issues hes got, that doesnt excuse his shit about "the female species" and the fact that, even if he didnt like el romantically, he can still, yknow, talk to her. i know hes a kid and all but the way they treated it this season was so unbearable
plus theres the stuff with mike and max fighting over els independency. specifically the aspect of her powers, which just kinda comes out of nowhere. like them having mike be all worried about her overexerting herself and blurting out that he loves her feels like damage control since max was being wayyyy too right about el being her own person aside from mike for the audience to stay on milkvans side. its like they needed to find some kinda last minute way to get the audience to still think milkvan was good in some way, if that makes sense. and while i do think that el and mike are going to break up and that her independency is in fact where its going, the way they handled this specific part felt so... weird
staying on the trend of annoying characterization, hopper. he felt like a totally different person and like a caricature of himself. he was a jealous man child the whole time and him getting jealous over every man joyce talked to got old reallyyyy quickly. plus the whole him being an overprotective "stay away from my daughter" kinda dad since, while i understand his behavior, its very stereotypical and you know damn well him getting upset with mike wouldnt have happened so aggressively and be framed so comedically if it was a mother with her sons girlfriend. i love hopper too but its like even his mannerisms and shit changed that season and he just was not himself
lucas also got on my nerves, since he was constantly promoting mikes shitty behavior, and he was also just sorta sidelined a lot of the season. he wasnt really lucas, he was more so some guy who just sorta propped up mike the whole time and didnt really have another purpose. we couldve gotten more elaboration on lumax or something instead, but they instead were practically just were nonexistent most of the season
speaking of nonexistent, will was sidelined like the entire season. he was a walking upside down alarm and had like a few moments where he came up with an idea but other than that, nothing. he was just sorta there and didnt do many meaningful things despite his importance to the supernatural shit going on since they decided to focus on annoying relationship drama for half the season instead of supernatural things being as prevalent
jancy also kinda annoyed me with the needless drama they had, drama that never even got properly resolved. when they have that talk in the elevator, jonathan admits that nancy was right about the rats, but that wasnt the root of the problem. the main argument they had was over how nancy didnt get how important the job was for jonathan since he came from a poorer family, and how jonathan didnt get how hard nancy had it dealing with the misogyny of her coworkers. the main fight was never about the rats and if the story was real or not, and they never properly address the actual problem. and having a moment where they actually talked and understood each other wouldve been great but we never got that
in hind sight we really never got many proper resolutions to conflicts, which could be argued to have snowballed into problems we see in season four, but its still annoying how they were handled and have yet to be explicitly addressed
the whole thing with karen and billy. no further elaboration needed.
billy getting redeemed in a way. yeah yeah he did all his shitty behavior cuz his dad sucks and he was separated from his mom, but thats not an excuse for continuing the cycle of abuse or the racism. billy sucks and i wish they never had him die as a hero
the main dynamics of the party get like permenantly skewed this season. instead of keeping the core party together and showing how close they are, we have dustin separated the whole time and all the focus with the rest of the party being relationship drama and only damaging their friendships. id love to see some more inner party dynamics shown but theyve gotten too caught up on other dynamics to ever elaborate or explore others and it makes you realize that some characters have hardly even interacted. like i cant think of a single time dustin and will have interacted one on one despite the party supposedly being so close
the stuff with the main supernatural plotline was really... weird. like that stuff with the chemicals and the use of rats felt so out of nowhere and was kinda forgettable. and they never really expanded on them??? or like anything the supernatural plotline did that season?? they were just there and then stopped mattering or having much importance despite the questions they raise. the stuff in seasons two and four are all a sort of "ohhh that makes sense" and connect very clearly but... why rats?? whered this shit about chemicals come from?? what???
while i do love the vibe of the season, it doesnt work very well with the context its got of the first two seasons. its such a stark contrast and drastic shift in tone that it feels like a totally different show and it sticks out like a sore thumb and it bothers me a lot. the season was much more comedic and lighthearted for a good deal of it compared to other seasons, and while i cant complain about something being funny, it just doesnt work as well with the type of show it is
they never really brought up a lot of important plot points from the first two seasons this time around. like i think els mom came up once closer to the end of it, and i think we see barbs picture like once in the last episode, but otherwise they just... stop being important. stuff like that makes the whole season feel disconnected from everything else since it just doesnt flow the same way that seasons one and two did
i think that should be everything (though chances are ive missed stuff) but tldr the humor and a bunch of shit felt so like straight and stereotype based, a lot of the conflict was handled weird, and compared to how seasons two and four flow it feels less like a continuation of previous seasons and more like some tacked on addition with shit thrown in that doesnt make much sense
thanks for reading im going to bed now

my two cents on the bianca bustamante drama (not that anyone cares): i think theres multiple sides we need to look at it from
1) obviously what she did is not right, firstly with just hating on lance for literally no reason?? like the joke was never rlly ok but in the fandom ppl just brush it aside just bc lance has a dad who is able to provide opportunities (if it was ur child and u were able to give them their dreams, wouldnt u do the same??
as well as being ableist and implying that being autistic and neurodivergent means someone is lacking in skill is so not it, like we've seen it too often and its not cool nor funny
+ idk wtf she was thinking? like regardless of being pr trained (though its mainly being a decent human being) u have to know that there would be backlash, like shes on the internet and she should know ab the response she would get. being mean to a driver wont get u a seat and actually worsens ur chances
2) which is why the argument "shes still young" doesnt sit right with me. shes not a child who isnt on the internet and knows nothing. shes 18 and constantly posts and has a huge following. she should have known the very least not to do anything like that
3) at the same time as im calling her out, i think we also need to call out the other issue which is that if she was a man, the outrage wouldnt be as bad. like obviously thats wrong but its the truth. its so common in the fandom to be making these kind of jokes that go unnoticed but the moment a female driver does, everyone blows up (for good reason but the double standard is still there)
idk im just disappointed bc she had potential and now her public perception is bad/but she did deserve it for what she did and im glad shes being held accountable
no one cares idk why im posting this lmao

I love the taste of salt. Unpopular opinion: i will defend to the death with a 5000 word essay that this campaign isnt any more railroaded than the other CR campaigns, and people saying C3 is more-so than c1 especially have never been a DM. The cliffnotes of my argument;
1. Dnd is a game. Games are meant to be fun. While i believe Matt’s table knows they have the world at their fingertips, why on earth wouldnt they follow the haunted moon god eater plot?? Thats Maximum Fun, especially for their playstyle. Any player short of a 13 year old keen on breaking the world and nothing else would be psyched about that kind of a plot.
2. I think its very difficult to judge a specific campaign on its own as more or less railroaded without the context of others to compare to- thankfully, we have 2 other campaigns we can look at. C2 stands out as being distinctly more sandboxed and character driven than the other two, while c1 and c2 are much more strongly story driven as opposed to character driven imo. But every action any character has taken has always appeared to me as being made of the players own free will.
3. I think theres a distinction that needs to be made between whats meant by “railroading” in the ttrpg sphere, and whats effective story telling. One of the greatest pieces of advice ive ever taken as a DM, is that in an engaging world and an engaging story, the bad guy is always moving forward with their plans regardless of whatever the players are doing. Ludinus wasnt waiting on BH to come and stop his evil plot - that was always going to happen. The players were given a choice to engage, or let it be, and they chose to be heroes. If they had chosen different, Ludinus wouldnt know or frankly care - and we’d be witnessing a much different story line, likely equally as engaging as the current one imo. Its almost certain that Matt knew his players would choose to be heroes and fight Ludinus’ plans, but to me thats more a factor of him knowing his players and the kinds of games they like to play quite intimately, rather than him forcing them into the ruidus story.
Thank you for being the vanguard of salt and unpopular opinions to carve a path for the rest of us in the CR fanspace
Disagree. I am a DM and I do think this is more heavily railroaded than past campaigns so there's your counterexample already but just to address this briefly:
Point 1 doesn't address railroading at all but rather says it's fun, which is not the argument at hand. I don't disagree with this, but the thesis statement isn't "this is fun or not"; it's "is this campaign more railroaded."
Point 2 begins tautologically (you can't compare things without comparing things to things) but also presumes a definition of railroading that hasn't been provided. I don't think railroading is "the DM deprives the players of making choices of their own free will"; I think it's "the DM lays out a goal that has only one real solution."
Point 3 is similarly to point 1 not untrue but also completely irrelevant. In fact, if we look to point 2, the same was true during Campaign 2: Essek, Ludinus, Vess, Trent, Uk'otoa, the Tombtakers - all of them kept making their plans regardless of what the party was doing, and you say yourself that that was a more sandboxed campaign. This also is debunked by my definition in point 2: fighting Ludinus is the goal, but while there was a variance in the potential degree to which they could mitigate what happened in episode 51, they were never really going to truly stop it and many of the events in question were in fact cut scenes. Which again: I don't think is bad, and I think the reason this entire argument doesn't hold together is that it's trying to defend Campaign 3, rather than argue it's not railroaded. I happen to think railroading is a neutral state, and so a defense isn't needed; what's needed is the stated argument re: railroading.
Were I to play devil's advocate to myself in order to structure this argument, I would first come up with a coherent definition of railroading as "the bad guy will do things and the players will want to stop them" is not, in fact, true, as many DMs can attest. What makes C2 more of a sandbox? Articulating that will then set the groundwork for the rest of the argument.
I would then I think focus especially on Campaign 1 and Campaign 3 connections because I do think the campaign is now much more open; the party had a degree of choice without being beholden to a patron or an existing quest in deciding to go to Molaesmyr just now that I don't think they had earlier in the campaign. It was not the only real avenue forward towards the larger goal. Since we didn't see Campaign 1 before around level 9, then I think you can reasonably argue that early Campaign 3 was more railroaded than late Campaign 1 but that is also not a fair comparison, and move from there.

so here's a longer take than me just being sarcastic in replies to ppl who dont actually explain any of their argument despite them feeling bothered enough by my post to reply.
the summarised topic of my long post they replied to is: there isnt currently good representation of fat or chubby body types anywhere in palia - the only really big round fat man is pretty much a bad guy and obsessed with food, which isnt very pleasant representation. there are no romanceable characters who arent very skinny or fit (theres 9 romanceable charas). palia is bad at fatness, and so is almost every other game, and this is constructive criticism about that. (read the long post itself for more background, info and clarity!)
palia being in open beta has nothing to do with its character design re: fatness. it doesnt take more effort to design and add a fat npc than to design a skinny or muscular npc, so there's no reason to "put off" adding more fat characters until later development stages - not when they clearly designed all charas individually already until now (they don't have the same body types as each other, same face shapes as each other, same animations, etc - they're all unique already).
the fact that the charas are already wildly different from each other is the exact reason i wrote my long post. bc it wouldve been just as easy as anything else to add in an attractive fat or chubby character who is romanceable! and they actively chose not to (the 9 romanceable charas are between very skinny to fit). or to add in fat or chubby npcs that arent stereotypical (someones mom, a bad person, obsessed with food, selfish/greedy, etc).
so it being in open beta is not a rational argument for this specific game, since it already has a diverse cast with diverse designs.
how about "palia is a videogame"?
besides the obvious point that it being a game doesnt make it any different than other media in regards to harmful stereotypes and harmful social structures etc, you can see that the palia devs already took care to create somewhat diverse characters.
they cared to create charas that have different facial traits, different body types, different hair types, etc. they actively chose to create a diverse cast - but didnt include chubby and fat people in that cast in any other roles than "not meant to be attractive".
this is the problem and this is why i talk about it. there need to be romanceable fat/chubby characters, even just *one* would be better than nothing among than the current 9 (!!!) romanceable charas that are all skinny or fit. ideally we should see bigger variety than just "9 skinny/fit ones and one fat", though.
the non-romanceable npcs should also feature chubby and fat characters that dont fall into basic "its someones mom" stereotypes or harmful stereotypes (food obsessed, lazy) etc etc. there should be a charming and attractive fat character who isnt shady or bad or selfish, an intelligent and friendly one, or an angsty creative one, i dont care! the point is they need to be interesting people and potentially attractive the same way the skinny and fit characters are created. and they shouldnt just be "someone's parent" for fucks sake.
palia failing at fatness rn, doesnt mean that the devs wont add more fat or chubby characters in the future. they might. we dont know that. they might not. thats why its necessary to voice and discuss topics like this so that people are aware to the issue and can constructively criticise it.

Justice League x RW/BY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen (Part One)
gonna be honest i kinda keep forgetting that this movie exists. the animation and music is very... rw/by. for better or for worse. corny quippy one liners. it's very corny. adding a cut bc this'll probably get a bit rambly.
AHHH THE FLASHBACK IS A STILL FRAME. the first thing to make me laugh wasnt even a joke it was the single still frame flashback. well. there was a slight zoom?
it's trying to be funny so bad its trying so hard. the serious dialogue is corny but could be worse. overall its better than the crossover comics? making the DC characters teenagers seems pointless.
oh god the dialogue is so hammy. the fists are hammed. weiss good and weiss dad bad yes i noticed. christ im only 8 minutes in. physically recoiling at some of the jokes. like its nothing jokes its nothinggg.
IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE BRUCE? he's been on screen for like 10 seconds and he already sounds and acts like "wealthy teenage tiktok star tries to pander to the less ~economically privileged~" and god it keeps going it hasnt even been a minute yet. did they make them teenagers bc otherwise bruce wouldve run off and found some little boy to help him solve everything without the help of anyone else. is that why. bc honestly yeah adult bruce is hard to write into a team setting.
bruce continues to be embarrassing but also. im learning that the still image flashbacks are just a thing thats gonna happen in this movie. style wise its very much a rw/by movie, so its just probably not gonna hit for me. its the kind of show i watched in middle school and grew out of by 8th grade. even then, my interest kind of started and ended with the character design and the basic world building elements. emphasis on basic, trying to understand the more in depth aspects is a bit of a waste of time.
oh and im still at the 10 minute mark. "ive already gone through all the other dc x rw/by content" i thought, "might as well watch the movies" i thought.
i think theyre trying to write bruce doing a smart detective thing? unfortunately rw/by is very bad at writing people doing smart things. 1) cant stand bruces voice in this 2) god hes so annoying and this whole scene is embarrassing to watch.
GAHH. THE SAME FLASHBACK FRAME CLARK HAD BUT ZOOMED OUT THIS TIME. true cinema. and i think theyre alluding to time travel as well as dimension travel, so even the rw/by girls get to have weird "we're not where we should be" flashbacks.
diana manhandles the small boy, fun. it also rife with required reading bc if you arent fully dedicated to keeping track of all rw/by lore then fuck you. these movies dont seem to require much DC knowledge but they cram in a lot of references to rw/by lore that i only know from video essays put out by ex-fans.
hey guys did u remember that yang is lesbian. pretty cool right? right?? this movie is going by so slow.
MARI IS THAT YOU?? and jess... girls u deserve a better movie. oh vic got braids? nice. also that joke was nothing. all the jokes are nothing.
the best jokes so far have been. the ones about how convoluted and hard to get into rw/by is. because of course. sigh. i do think the DC characters are better utilized and integrated than they were in the comics at least. seeing mari and jess get animated is really cool, and overall i like the redesigns. a few of the characters have commented on suddenly being deaged but mari's acknowledgement of it is the first to feel like a natural line of dialogue rather than exposition.
montage of bruce learning to use his bat powers so that they can get that out of the way before he joins the rest of the group. separate things that were already discussed being re-discussed so that we can have a "everyone talks at once scene". they. what. huh? they had a normal conversation that landed on "lets split into groups since theres enough of us to reasonably do that. then they have an argument which ends at the exact same conclusion.
are they really gonna have a "yang thinks diana is hot and blake gets jealous" plot line? really? and another love triangle. cy tries to ask nora to explain this worlds weapons, noras boyfriend(?) gets mad and then cy gets mad back and ends up being the one everyone gets upset with. it feels a bit. just. super uncomfortable. cy wasnt flirting he was just. talking to nora.
oh thank god that bit is over. now back to jess! possibly the most interesting character here. her design is probably my least favorite of the bunch tho, just because it feel a bit... too anime? it reminds me too much of my danganronpa phase, lol.
jaune doing plot device things. jess introspection. its not the most interesting thing but its better than uh. whatever happened with cy earlier. sorry im still thinking about that. i think they were just going for hormonal and temperamental teenager moment but it uh. came off weird.
plot twist everything was uh. void. ptsd monster things. the plots about to get convoluted isnt it.
diana is pretty decently fleshed out in this one. and it looks like they didnt lean into the diana being hot as a source of relationship conflict that much aside from a few jokes, thank god.
for fucks sake shut up jaune i dont care about your dead girlfriend.
back to the monster fighting group, dear god theyre doing one of those. 2 guys fight over girl who goes "umm i can take care of myself >:(". GOD SHUT UP. FUCK. ITS A JEALOUS LOVE TRIANGLE PLOT. please let this die sooner rather than later.
bruce describes everything that was just established. bruce is emo. weiss tries to be nice. then back to jess and jaune. "i didnt realize how much i miss this place" yeah well i sure dont miss it. oh pyrra, however your name is spelled, you were the only character death that meant anything. now if only they didnt degrade her story into being all about jaune even in death.
have weiss and bruce just been on the computer this whole time. at least they eventually get a fight scene. lesbians to the rescue time. stuff and things. i still dont care and jaune. fuckin. creator self insert ass. he was originally comic relief/audience surrogate but turned into way too much of a main character. god jess deserves her own movie.
weiss please stop trying to recruit him this is just embarrassing. is this gonna be a whole thing? bruce deciding between earth and remnant? and god you cant put anime style gags in the middle of a serious scene. oh god theyre making bruce insecure about not having powers like the rest of the league. man who could've seen that coming. christ theres still 20 minutes left. FUCK AND A WHOLE SECOND MOVIE.
jess remains the coolest bitch in this movie. god why couldnt it be a jess green lantern movie.
lesbians on motorcycles, blah blah fight scene. oh god we're pretending batman is cool. fake flash? wheres real barry then :/ christ. they think this is a cool twist. tho possessed barry is pretty fun. god the actual canon explanation for making them teens was bc kilg%re figured the hormones would make them easier to fuck with.
obligatory "even teens can be leaders" speech. the determination of humanity or whatever.
HAAA BRUCE AND BARRY MORSE CODE COMMUNICATION. ok thats cute.
so smth smth final battle but theres a mysterious second bad guy so that they still have content for a second movie. i like how they show vixen's powers, that parts fun. jess does main character thing and kills big bad. bruces conflict about going home is resolved. cy goes and makes amends with nora and guy who likes nora, despite guy who likes nora being the one to cause all the conflict in the first place. they make the go home portals. set up for next movie.

Reading internet fights doesnt have to be an internet activity that rots you (ie doom scrolling, falling into the tiktok algorithm hole, etc). Reading internet fights can light up your brain in a similar way to reading a newspaper article or playing a computer game from when you were 8.
The key is to read the good ones where people are arguing really niche topics but both sides (no matter how well or mis informed) take the time to explain the proofs of their conclusions. Like they write out the math of what theyre arguing. Because when someones wrong, this style of argument lets someone else cut them down by pointing out faulty premises or pointing out non sequiturs. When you can read the thinking processes of each side it feels better taking a side because you just saw all the work theyre doing to get to there. Reading good internet arguments can be different from falling in a tik tok hole because the serotonin feels likes its sourced from developing my thinking skills (vs receiving it from being shown something new every 8.7 seconds).
Internet arguments are bad and make me feel like im j watching a car wreck (engages you but not for a good reason) when they give me undeserved credit. Such fights include but sre not limited to (from most to least readable) people debating a proper ranking of priorities or thingd, (and this is one full tier below Ranking Arguments, usually) logical fallacies, introducing tangentially related but ultimately off topic arguments, generalized blanket statements, making statements that are j truly objectively wrong observations about material reality
Cherry on top is when a the Cool Arguer hits all the thoughts you were thinking when reading an Uncool Persons comment AND adds something you didnt think of (learning!) The cherry on top of that cherry is seeing Uncool Arguer get ratioed.
Its important to remember that even tho internet fights dont always have to be soul sucking, even the best of them are only the equivalent to drinking orange juice from Ralphs (idk if this is the most equivalent comparison but im too lazy to think of the right one). Its not soda, it probably wont do too much harm if you have some for brekkie every so often. Definitely shouldnt be drinking it everyday when theres water and teas and seltzer water around. You wont be the microbiome or kind person you want to be on OJ and internet fights.
And this is because 1) you do not want to be a person who has a habit of deriving entertainment from the conflict between others and 2) especially so when theyre arguing over a cause important to you. Example: if theyre arguing about transmisogyny, at the end of the day we want to get rid of transmisogny because 'transmisogyny is an issue you care about because you love trans women *not* because you want transmisogynists to be wrong' (thats j the fun perk). But internet fights abt transmisogmy can only exist if transmisogny exists! So letting those internet arguments become fodder for your attention or a source of receiving joy from the internet is not productive to the true end goal and cause you care for. *And* you dont want to revel in the by products of transmisogyny bc its just gross! Best relationship to good internet fights is 'phew! Comforting to know theres other people who reason things out in the same steps i do! no man is an island!'
not sure if this line of reasoning can be applied to good internet fights on topics i dont care about. I think if an argument is silly and in good nature then its all fun (and actually those types of arguments are good reading, more like water than the good internet arguments on issues i care for, because theres no stakes its just people having fun and connecting with each other thru the medium of the internet) and if people are having a good internet argument over something i dont know about (ie best cars engines from the 80s a la mona lisa from my cousin vinny) well then its also more like water than OJ bc its low stakes with less repercussions and reading it will teach me something. But all these are still a lil bit OJ bc ..babe cut down ur screentime
newaze, internet fights are fun when they exercise your brain!
