I think (usually) I'm pretty good at staying true to the characters and not making them too ooc (and I know when it's ooc, okay, I have one wip rn where I just don't give a fuck, I'm writing it anyway lol), and I can get into their heads pretty well. Also I think I'm good at the cute fluffy stuff lol idk

What are your writing weaknesses?

there's probably a lot lol - rn the one that comes to mind is descriptions probably, which is why writing fanfic where we have established characters and settings is so much easier than og stuff haha

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I don't mind it but I don't do it a lot aside from a pet name here and there bc I just don't wanna get anything wrong lol

a tiny little zine inspired by @koddlet’s how-to! (i love your zines, they’re so fun and inspiring!) i first just folded it out of a sticky note for fun and put it in my pocket thinking “i’ll fill this in later when i have an idea” and then i looked outside and it was so. fucken dark. and here we are :) i really loved treating it as an exercise in “draw whatever comes to mind, let it be as shitty as possible, just try something” — drawing isn’t something i think of as my strong suit but little doodles sure are fun!

#looking at this again as i add the IDs i think i made the darkness angled the wrong way lol #whatever #this was so fun and freeing!!! #if it was larger i probably would have added another scene and some more commentary to explain the sunset scene— #i get really picturesque sunsets where i live and it’s tempting to take them for granted but i don’t want to #so whenever someone comments on it i make a point of fully getting up and looking and just Appreciating it for a minute #every time #even when i’m kind of annoyed that it’s already getting dark when i need the daylight to motivate me to Do Stuff lmao #(how to make this story more stressful: imagine the book on page 3 is a required reading book and i have to read 8 chapters by the next day #but overall it’s just a snippet of my winter nighttime mood :) #penguin’s ponderings #i hope that’s my tag for og posts. i forget tbh

holy moly xherry7816 you've reached 50 likes !!!! ive been working on some gi designs for the ninja but ive been struggling to show off their individuality while still looking like their gi but i havent actually looked up reference of gi so in pretty sure that should be the first step.

ok so the au (still unnamed) taking place in a slightly canon divergent season 5 MORRO is currently after the realm crystal in his attempts to bring the PREEMINENT (?) to NINJAGO and like destroy it or whatever, solid stuff. except whats different here is that MORRO does not go and posses LLOYD as his first step because he'd struggle more as a human than if he were a ghost so he and his ghoul gang decide to get the hard stuff out the way, the ninja chasing them to put a stop to him obviously. also in this au NYA is not told by WU that she is the water ninja, instead she receives her awakening when defending one of the team from a ghost and then hes like omg :0 !#!%#!$#??

the au starts off with the mission to retrieve the realm crystal on time (before MORRO) because even if he beats them to everythinf else MORRO cant do anything without the crystal. unfortunately for them !!! MORRO is already a few steps ahead and when they reach the resting place of the FSM they find the ghost, crystal in hand. boom boom battle !! and theyre all fighting anf there are ghosts everywhere (NYA is not here bc remember KAI isnt supposed to know hes the water ninja yet) and MORRO is very clearly goig after LLOYD. wait, ok wait i need to type up my thinking process rn or else it wont make sense when i read everything back bc isnt only a spinjulistu master able to find the tomb,,,,, ermmm OK LLOYD possesion- no i cant do that to him. its an au whatever, so yeah MORRO'S in there crystal in hand going after greenie and KAI kicks in yk the brother stuff so theyr fighting anf stuff and like idk MORRO knocks KAI off his feet anf starts heading towards LLOYD again so as a last ditch effort KAI fires towards MORRO and it hits the crystal aaaa ! even thought i cant possibly imagine the crystal being so weak i can just say the power of love made him stronger bc those tight family bonds (im a sucker 4 found famiky but who isnt these days). and then its kinda like the scene in SONIC PRIME where the prism goes boom !! and theres a shockwave and it looks cool and then u see SONIC traversing through the SHATTERVERSE 4 the first time and then he ends up in NEW YOKE, except its KAI landing in the PRIME EMPIRE CITY with all his friends looking different and jazz. the whole mission is to retrive the realm crystal shards and put them back 2gether so he can get home and finish the fight with MORRO. for the og universe i kinda just imagine time stops so 4 the ninja itd look like KAI disappears for a few moments and then comes right back. as i did mention when i was vaugely describing universe 1 (PRIME EMPIRE divergent i hope im usong that word right btw) KAI doesnt stay long in that universe so just like in SONIC PRIME he will return to some universes, whether on purpose or not, to retrieve the shards

i was wondering if i should write a fanfic bc thats what most people seem 2 do but im not really good with keeping up the motivation to write, i used 2 have a miraculous ninjago crossover on ao3 (literally called miraculous bc im unoriginal) but after like 5 updates i did updates like one every 3 months and then deleted it lol so im probably jist going to let this au die when i get tired of it !!!! tbh i need to rewatch ninjago bc im forgetting all my facts (and a SONIC PRIME rewatch not that i really need to but its very good har har)

Hi Zoe!! Please elaborate on your lord of the rings fic, because I am in a lotr MOOD and I want to know things! (only if you're comfortable, obviously!)

hello! I got here! eventually! thank you for the ask ❤️

this is, at least technically, a rewrite of an old co-written Lord of the Rings fic. that fic was... good for where my friend and I were at at the time, and definitely taught us a lot, but we've also progressed a lot since. no hate to 2015 us.

really, I stole the characters and a few of the relationships (changed one from romantic to platonic) and changed almost everything else.

there will be spoilers for the fic in this, just so we're clear. but I have no idea if I'm ever gonna post this anywhere, so... read at your own risk.

Thalia is the daughter of the recently deceased Mirkwood palace healer, Nestarion. she hasn't spent a lot of time in the palace and is struggling to get acquainted with how everything works while also grieving.

Artemis is Legolas's sister. they fell out after their mother Vendethiel's death, after he took out his grief on her. she went "screw that" and left. the story sees her return temporarily and get pulled into things more permanently than she meant to. her relationship with her father is alright, but chilly.

Thranduil hosts a ball on the anniversary of his wife's death. Artemis, who grieves differently, fights with him, and then with Legolas. and then the three members of the royal family are targeted by scorpions, and Legolas gets stung. the cure, as Thalia discovers, is only found in Lothlórien. so off they go.

shenanigans then ensue... and we discover that maybe the deaths of Nestarion and Vendethiel are more connected to the present-day murder attempts than previously thought.

tbh the murder mystery is just a vehicle for Artemis and Legolas getting their act together, and Thalia making friends with both of them.

I also have a lot of fun with examining how Artemis and Thalia grieve differently. they make great parallels to each other. Artemis just wants to forget, because between statues and funerals and whatnot the whole palace remembers for her. Thalia feels like no one remembers her father, and is afraid of losing his memory. she wants to fill his shoes; Artemis wants people to stop telling her she looks like her mother.

there are also extra fun parallels because Artemis is a killer. she's a good fighter, and she's bad with her feelings. on some level she wants to make up with her brother (even if she says otherwise), but her pride and her anger hold her back. she doesn't know where to start. to her, she almost feels she kills everything she touches. (there's a nice line in the og fic that Thalia's hands bring healing and Artemis's bring death, and I want to lean into it)

Thalia is a healer. but right now she's out of her depth trying to help Legolas, and she wants to help repair the sibling relationship but doesn't really think she can. (yelling at them to get it together after they snipe at each other one too many times does... something for it, at least)

HC’s for Ushijima, Bokuto, Kageyama, Nishinoya, & Kuroo with an S/O who fosters kittens / has lots of pets cats. Like sis just can’t seem to say no to an animal in need. How would they react?

Sure, anon! Hope you like it :’) I apologize for the inconsistent length, but I get more ideas for some characters than others at a time.

USHIJIMA

- He’s a dog person (confirmed by my group chat, very reliable source) so he’s used to more energetic pets. He does admit that your cats are very calming, and he finds himself smiling at the sounds of their purrs. All of your cats are drawn to him like a magnet, he doesn’t understand why and he sits with a stoic face, hands on his knees while dozens of cats are rubbing up against his legs, chest and one even found its way upon his head. He would remain as still as possible, hoping they find it comfortable up there.

- He’s not very talkative when playing with your cats, but you see the soft smile which graces his features at the funny antics of your furry friends. It’s all very calming, your favourite moments is during a rainy evening when Ushijima cuddles with you upon your couch and all your kitties join in on the love. (catch me crying in the club rn, your head is resting on his chest, legs intertwined, blanket over the both of you and your cats are scattered everywhere. One is nestled upon your feet, a few on the armrests and on top of the back while a very tiny kitten is curled up on Ushijima’s sternum, underneath his warm hand)

- He would spoil them a lot, bringing over treats and exotic-sounding food. The once he came over with cotton candy flavoured meat treats and you soon realized his obsession with strangely flavoured items. Each week he comes back with something weird and you fear that your cats won't like it but you give it to them anyway, to your surprise, they almost never turn their nose to it, and if they do, Ushijima is able to get them to eat it just by holding it out for them.

BOKUTO

- He’s surprised upon first visiting your home, only to be greeted by seemingly dozens of cats staring back at him. He lets out a sudden noise of excitement, causing all your furry friends to scatter in multiple directions. Yeah, they’re kinda scared of him and yes, Bokuto looks extremely dejected about it. The whole visit he attempts to warm up to your cats who keep a wary eye on him and pouts when none of them warms up to him. Feeling bad for him, you brought him your newest addition to your cat family which had been a tiny little kitten which you distanced from the rest. It had no power to fight back and instantly curled up into Bokuto’s chest. You swore his eyes grew misty and his smile was absolutely contagious. 

- Eventually, your cats warm up to him after his constant visits and he never fails to bring them gifts. These include treats, toys and even costumes. He buys these all unironically, he’s genuinely so excited to see what they will look like in the cute sparkly dress he bought because his heart swelled upon first seeing it. Unwilling to disappoint, you dress up one of your more tamer cats in the outfit and Bokuto is almost brought to the verge of tears at how cute they look. He’s very enthusiastic when it comes to your babies :’)

- Frequently questions when you’re considering getting your next cat. You make the mistake of asking him if he would like to tag along with you and pick out a cat to foster, you return home with four additional kittens all snugly asleep in Bokuto’s arms. (...can ya’ll imagine seeing him carrying a bunch of sleeping kittens in his muscular AF arms... I-) 

- Your love for cats is so endearing to Bokuto, he catches himself staring at you whilst you play with them, admiration gleaming within his eyes. Seeing you so gentle towards them makes his heart swell with pride at the thought that he managed to meet and date someone as loving and caring as you. He doesn’t even play his staring off as something else when you catch him and instead he openly admits what a lovely person you are. (your cat is sitting there like...human...proceed giving me attention with the delightful chase of the feather string...why do you love this owl-head anyway)

KAGEYAMA

- The only experience Kageyama has had when it comes to pets is his own fish which he sometimes forgets exists. This is proved canon by my group chat members and I. He’s pretty overwhelmed by the sheer amount of cats you have and finds himself awkwardly stroking one who comes up and rubs themselves against his legs. He looks a bit uncomfortable, not sure what to do. You help him ease up by putting your hand on top of his and guiding it over the soft fur of your cat. 

- Kageyama finds your will to help cats admirable, not that he would do something like that himself, but he can tell a lot of hard work goes into it and he thinks you’re amazing for being able to cope. Many times he finds himself willing to help you clean up or even help bathe one of your cats. His hands are full of scratches afterwards and you feel sick to your stomach with guilt, only for him to offer you a small smile of reassurance and tell you he didn't mind - it was fun, in fact, seeing as he never had the opportunity to take care of his own pet in such a way before. 

- He’s only close with one of your cats. For some reason, this cat eases him and whenever he comes over, he’s instantly greeted by the cat upon stepping through the door. The one time, you caught Kageyama falling asleep upon your bed with the cat curled up against his chest, both of them with seemingly content smiles. You managed to snag a picture and it will forever remain your profile picture because what on earth can top a sleeping Kageyama with his favourite cat snuggling on top of him. (me thinking about Kageyama cuddling with a cat.)

NISHINOYA

- Your poor cats.

- In the beginning, Nishinoya is in awe at how many cats you have. He doesn’t make an attempt to rush towards them but he definitely thinks their cute. He’s more interested in how he can entertain himself by playing with them. You show him some tricks they can do and he’s immediately hooked, oohing at every minor thing they do. 

- “Whoa! that was so cool,,” 

- “Uh..that wasn’t a trick.”

- Lowkey terrorizes your cats ngl. He’s gonna test out the theory that cats are afraid of cucumbers like he’s seen so many times on youtube and laugh his ass off when one of your cats jump nearly ten feet into the air. He records the whole thing and likely uploads it to social media. He likes to set up pranks for them. The one time you wanted to walk into the kitchen, only to find the entrance blocked off with clingwrap and all your cats sitting expectantly before it, their heads bouncing around in sync. Peering around the doorway, you find Nishinoya sipping on a milk box as he waves a toy around, holding back the snickers at how funny your cats look trying to get through.

- Overall, he thinks its really cool of you to do such a thing. Despite pulling pranks on your cats, he’s really endeared by them. Knowing how much you want to help, he often sends you posts he finds from animal shelters who are looking for foster homes. It makes you happy knowing he keeps your interests in mind when you’re away from each other.

- He’ll come over with catnip one day, saying he wants to see how high your cats can get. “Damn, pass the joint du-” *hiss* “I just want my hit, man.”

- He’s in his element whenever he comes over to your house, your cats literally swarm around his feet upon barely taking a step inside the door. He’s their cat daddy, and you have zero say in the situation. Your cats probably like him more than you and you can’t even be mad at them tbh. Of course, you get a bit salty when your cats, which you have handpicked and rescued from a terrible fate, turn their nose to your cooing and tempting treats and instead find comfort in curling next to Kuroo who is watching youtube videos, not even making an effort to coax them into doing so.

- You have that one cat, the true OG, your loyal disciple who refuses to leave your side. They turn their head at Kuroo like he’s a walking infestation inside your house and they refuse to look at him with their nose up in the air. You don’t pick favourites, you love all your kitties equally, but you do find yourself loving that specific cat more during those moments. Kuroo doesn’t really mind, he just ruffles your hair teasingly and sarcastically comments that it’s good at least one of your cats love you. (yes, you did attack him with a pillow afterwards.)

- He truly doesn’t mind your mild obsession with cats. He loves them and they love him, with the exception of one. He doesn’t encourage you out of the blue but if you talk about potentially wanting to rescue a new cat he’s totally there to support you. This dude buys you so much cat food! You hardly need to go out and buy any, it’s like an unlimited supply. The one time he burst your front door open, carrying two bags of cat food over his shoulders whilst posing theatrically. “Come to me, my sweet children,” he says loudly over the deafening meow’s of your cats that circle his legs.

- He would likely ironically buy your cats these stupid looking costumes and dress them up with literal tears of laughter in his eyes. He lowkey makes fun of your cats and even YOU feel personally offended. But you gotta admit, he brings home really funny outfits and you feel bad for laughing at times. Kuroo is there for all the fun things, but as soon as it comes to bathing your cats or cleaning out litter boxes, he’s outta there.

1. I live in Milwaukee, Wi and attend UW-Milwaukee, but don’t have an official major yet.

2. I really like to draw! though i haven’t made anything substantial lately. i like to make a lot of fan art so like, steven universe, drag race queens, anime characters, all that.

3. Music is my life. i can’t go a day without listening to my playlist. if i forget my earbuds at home my whole day is ruined tbh. some of my favorite artists would be Adele, Beyonce, BTS, Fall Out Boy, Hey Violet and Kesha. and this year i’ve seen some great kpop shows and my next concert is going to be Kesha🌈 next month with some close friends!

4. Some day i hope to move out and live on my own and have a puppy named Daisy. i can’t stress how much i specifically want a dog named Daisy in my life. daisies are my favorite flower and Daisy is my favorite Nintendo princess 👑 🌼

5. I love nintendo. even if nintendo hasn’t been coming through with that ANIMAL CROSSING DIRECT….. i forgive them because im a good ass fan and i love my princesses and squidkids

6.For some damn reason i can’t fall asleep without some kind of noise, so like i need a fan on or netflix playing i just need something on ok?

7. i’m running out of things to say lmao but i’m currently taking a japanese course at school!! honestly in my 3 years at university this is the most fun and interesting course i’ve ever taken. language is wild i love it!!!! 🇯🇵

8. within the past year or so i’ve gotten back into kpop. Girls Generation was my OG back in like 2009 so when they came back for their 10th anniversary with Holiday Night i was snatched; One Last Time is my fav off the album. my favorite kpop groups are BTS, Monsta X, Twice and i really like Hyuna’s solo work!

9. My 3 Overwatch mains are Mei, Dva and Pharah. My favorite overwatch short film…. hm, it’s kind of a draw between the sombra one and the mei one. both are fucking amazing

hey i’m looking to get into a role play but i’ve never done it before so do you have any recommendations on how to start, how to roleplay, etc??

aw man, uhhh… well, I got some wc ones! Land of the Lost is currently accepting, a new reboot of Clans of the Shoshone, Falling Leaves (for Pack and Clan), and Left in Lesdin’s gonna be opening soon! 

for how to start, I def recommend creating a character you want to rp - you want one that you can connect to, and can rp often. I’ve created characters on a whim multiple times before, which… wasn’t great bc I ended up abandoning them basically which was just a mess dfjhfdh

start with a design, name, and a base personality, but give yourself room for them to grow!! if you have any ideas in mind with them, definitely talk to a mod if you’re in a group rp, like the ones I listed. you can talk to others to set up relationships, or just rp and build them from there! you can be vague with family and bg, or go all out! tho it def depends on what the rp has going on, bc you may want to add bg events to their bio o: also there’s normally a bio format posted with each rp, so you don’t need to worry about setting one up!

also, bc apps are through google docs, I highly recommend saving any oc info you make bc I keep forgetting to do that and I immediately forget what I wrote dsfhjfdsh

with rping in general, it’s gonna depend on the rp! usually the ones I’m in are more literate, which asks for at least a paragraph reply, but it’s not always the case! also, you don’t have to be a writer to rp! it may be awkward at first, but it definitely gets easier as you rp more and more - I’ll give an example at the end!

oh! I can’t believe I forgot this, but reading the rules is highly important! please read them and make sure you follow them

outside of discord, I have no idea ahah - I know there are a lot of forum rps out there, and it’s been a few years since I’ve used the forums on fanfiction net so idk if those are even still active ahah

tumblr rp has changed a lot - before, all you had to do was set up a blog (side or main - I prefer main bc it’s easier to follow other rp blogs and get recognized), and either rp as a canon character or an oc! ofc they don’t need to be a fandom oc, they can just be an og one!

but for tumblr rp, you def gotta think of a solid character bg if an oc (fandom or not) bc it’s easier for everyone when other muns can look and see who your character is. I def recommend setting up a rule page, so that way you can explain what stuff you want to avoid (for me was nsfw stuff mostly), or stuff you’re fine with (a lot of people would mention age ranges they were comfortable with when it came to other muns - like there were a few rp blogs that would only interact with people 18+ or 21+, which was a good thing tbh)

it’s def been a hot minute since I’ve rped on here, but when you make an oc to rp, this is where it gets hella important to make sure you can connect with them - I ended up ditching a lot of blogs bc I lost muse, and it’s a bummer tbh, but it does happen. also idk if rping is still active here or not? bc last I check the marvel rp tag it was just. ads for group rps and idk if they’re tumblr based anymore

anyway, tumblr rping is def gonna be harder! just bc it’s hard to get off the ground at the beginning, and it’s just… idk, weird? some people won’t respond to you and things get lost and it can become a mess, but at the same time, it can be a lot of fun! it just really depends on how you handle stuff and how active you are really

The pale queen had arrived shortly after Aspenstar and Jaggedstripe settled Badgerwing’s body down in the flowers. She would’ve been with them, matching their steps stride by stride, but she had to check on her kits before she left. She had seen how frightened they were with the thunder alone, and she couldn’t imagine the confusion the little ones must’ve felt when their Clanmates began to panic at the death before Aspenstar soothed them. They were far too young to understand death, and she could only pray that it wouldn’t affect them. And despite how collected she had seemed back in camp, it was clear the deputy’s death had was not taken lightly - her steps were slow, her eyes misted with grief.

 A shaky breath escaped her jaws as Mistfang slowed to a stop beside her gathered Clanmates, the air thick with grief and tension. Finchpaw spoke, then Grasspelt. Jaggedstripe stepped toward Badgerwing next, but it was clear she was in too much pain to speak. But… as she gazed around at the others, her throat tightened with grief. Was no one else going to speak? Bluestone remained silent. Hootnose was silent as well, his gaze averted, and it was clear he wished to be anywhere but there. She just hoped their silence wasn’t from hostility - from them still holding a grudge for her leaving them for so long.

With a shake of her head, the molly slowly stepped forward, leaning down to rasp her tongue over Badgerwing’s head. “You were larger than life,” she said at last, her voice soft as ever. “You helped us each in your own way, and I feel my words can never be enough to explain my gratitude. You saved my life, and helped me with my kits. I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done. I hope you find comfort in StarClan, and I wish you all the best.”

It was shorter than she would’ve liked, but Mistfang hadn’t been close to Badgerwing - not as much as she would’ve liked. But regrets were useless, and she knew the dangers of getting lost in the what-ifs. As long as the deputy was safe in StarClan, free of any pain and of any troubles, then she knew it would be okay. It had to be. 

Slowly, Mistfang took a few steps back, head bowed as she sat down.
