So this has been bouncing around in my head for a WHILE (aka: a couple days) now but your lights out au kinda reminds me of a game that came out recently called "my friendly neighborhood" (really good game btw, highly recommend to either play or watch a playthrough) bc the plot is literally "puppets are just alive in this universe muppet-style & after their show got canceled they all got locked in their show's studio for a decade or so & went slightly mad bc of it". There's a whole bunch of differences, obviously, but mainly I just thought it'd be interesting if the player character, a grumpy-but-lovable handyman who's also a war vet that has Seen Some Shit, ended up at the playfellow studio in this au for one reason or another (maybe he was asked to go in & check that the electricity all still works correctly?). Idk how the puppets would react to his arrival, but at least he's got some practice handling aggressive (or overly enthusiastic) puppets who haven't seen a real, live human in years.
i've been meaning to watch a playthrough for a week now T¬T i remember watching the demo and being immediately So Fucking Hyped for the game's release
if i were interested in crossovers, i'd probably be all over that! unfortunately, they're not really my wheelhouse </3

omg reverse riko au is making me feel so ill..... please let us know if you have any more thoughts abt riko kayleigh and kevin legend.....
I DO my idea is that its around the same age kevin and riko met in canon so tetsuji kicks the bucket when riko is 7/8 and riko is (very forcibly) removed from the nest and sidelined to kayleigh as a new moriyama asset from the main branch takes over the nest. riko struggles a lot with the change because he is very young and very scared and he’s used to horrible things at tetsuji’s hand, which means that he doesn’t trust kayleigh and finds kevin entirely too weird. it’s honestly really cute because i think at this point obviously 7 year old kevin wants to befriend him but riko is such an anxious ball of anger that most of their interactions are like
baby riko: what do you WANT from me. go AWAY!!!! NOW
baby kevin: (heavy irish accent) nothing i think. do you want a bite of my sandwich?
anyway i think riko and kayleigh do get along but he never really considers her his mother or even godmother, for a long time he thinks of her as his Benefactor until the child therapy starts hitting and she becomes Aunt Kayleigh and then after a few more years he can be loosely convinced to refer to her as auntie once or twice a year. his second son syndrome never really leaves him; in the upcoming years riko struggles with the idea that he’s anything But an add-on to the days and still overworks himself to death trying to be acknowledged by kengo, but it’s leaps better just from being outside the nest and having people to look out for him
riko and kevin have some rough patches, especially during riko’s first years with the days. because kevin is an easy target and riko is afraid of kayleigh he ends up letting a lot of that anger out on kevin, though obviously at this point they are children and riko’s anger manifests in some mild bullying and name calling. i think kevin doesn’t even understand it most of the time 😭 riko has been around grown ups his entire life so his adult level insults make no sense to kevin’s seven year old mind. nevertheless after kayleigh tells him to stop picking on kevin riko does respect it (first out of fear, then later because they actually get along) and they go on to become brothers with only a slight tendency towards antagonism. riko’s jealousy of kevin is still a big part of their relationship and i think even more so when college applications roll around, and he’s even more worried when wymack comes into the picture, but it never culminates into anything as horrible as hand breaking because riko has an actual outlet and a support system :) it’s mostly a yelling match that eventually turns to getting scolded by kayleigh for acting like barbarians

So like
What if the reason Vash has that metal grate on his chest is so doctors can't do X-rays or MRIs or other imaging tests? Dude's definitely gotten patched up by people assuming he's fully human while he was knocked out. The easiest way to make sure they don't get a surprise look at whatever his alien internal organ situation is by making sure they can't use the normal machines for any tests, if they even have the machines for it in the first place. And he's already got all that metal imbedded in him, so what's a little more? Especially if his heart situation is, uh, different from humans. Like a different amount, or different placement.

The ground was soft and loamy, and sprung back when Mira's feet left it. The day before they had left- The Day Before They Had Left, it felt now, with all the gravitas of a shut tomb- had been marked with light spring showers that chased her into neighbours' houses and barns. She'd bought food for the trip, you see, loaves of bread and whatever else besides, and didn't want it to get wet.
Imoen carried her pack now as well as her own, and with the most studied nonchalance picked an apple from it.
"I can carry my own bags."
"Uh huh." She said around a mouthful of fruit. "So can I."
The woods were golden in the morning light. Trees spaced themselves thinly enough to permit a light breeze, ruffling Mira's cloak, drying out the mud and sweat and flecks of blood-
"You shouldn't have followed me." Shouldn't have followed us. "They won't let you back in, do you understand?"
"So what? I couldn't have stayed with Gorion gone."
That made her jolt. Trip, even, and stumble to right herself before her legs tangled in the heavy woolen volume of her skirt.
"They wouldn't have kicked you out."
"Nah, they wouldn't've. But I couldn't..." The apple half-finished, she seemed to be chewing over something else in her mind. "I brought your bear."
"Imoen!" If a laugh had escaped her, it would have been a miracle. "What for?!"
"To make fun of you for still sleeping with a stuffed animal? I mean, I dunno. I would've waltzed right up to your camp or whatever, and Gorion would've been fuming, I bet-"
Mira bit her tongue- without breaking skin, she smelled blood. Imoen broke off the sentence with the final bite of her apple, then lobbed it upwards and back in a long arc. What a sorry sight the pair of them made, Mira mused while her stuttering breath slowed again- children who'd had too little sleep. Playing at adventure with no regard for the costs.
They walked a moment longer.
"I couldn't've let you go on alone." Said Imoen and, blinking hard, looked away.
