billy antis don’t know how to think for themselves. the duffer brother call billy their ‘human villain’ and he is the only one to be called so, not brenner not henry, billy.
and it’s actually stupid that billy is their villain. brenner is a manipulative, child abuser (yes he is, to all those people who seem to think he was a good papa) and henry/vecna murdered a bunch of children. but sure, billy’s implied racism and violent tendencies mean he can’t be redeemed.
and the other reason is that brenner/henry are connected to the upside down/scifi aspect immediately, meaning people are viewing them in a scifi/fantasy context (like a lot people point out, the same context that cause people to forgive anakin/loki) but billy isn’t - he’s the human antagonist
me after watching the duffers bring br*nner back and basically say that a fully grown man who spent most of his life kidnapping, torturing and using children as lab rats and is responsible for everything that has happened in the upside-down is better than an 17-year-old abuse victim who suffered his whole life and had no one love or care for him and never got to escape his abusive dad and said dad is out walking free with no consequences: I wanna fucking unalive myself dude
can you imagine how fucking powerful it would be if in s3 instead of Billy it was Steve who was possessed, while Billy would be the one that discovers the russians. i mean, it would have added so much to the characters, billy would be forced to work with The Party, steve would have some development besides the stupid romantic triangle and being bitter about it.
A day im like 100% sure byler will happen and The Duffers are gonna give us a good ending for Will and Mike. Then another day im sure that they're gonna kill Mike or Will and make us suffer even more and another day im sure that they're gonna go for Mildoesntevenmakeanysenseatthispointofthestoryeven and not take risk.
It's a fucking fictional ship, i can't take this anymore 💀
Hey, to be fair, we never did find out why Vecna would be so obsessed with clocks. I’d almost think they made that a thing at all to make a joke about Steve being dumb.
Actually no, it looks like the Doofies are pulling a Moffat, and they just added that to make the vision scenes all foreboding but they didn’t want their audience criticizing that it made no sense, so they made fun of Steve prematurely so the audience would feel stupid if they ever thought to question it. Steve is now the Doofies’ equivalent of the conspiracy theory audience insert group from Sherlock. “You want to know why Vecna has latched onto this one clock from his childhood home that he really only lived in for maybe year? Look how dumb you look for that.”
every day i wake up and hate the duffers more. the newest reason is because they edited out the scene where jonathan takes pictures of nancy while she’s undressing. i get that it makes the character seem unlikeable, as it should, but you can’t just “take it back”. they wrote it, and now they have to explain it. all of this editing after the fact is compromising the integrity of the show. sure, jonathan seems like a creep after that, but instead of literally erasing it from happening, maybe have nancy and him have an onscreen convo about it. they just pretend like it didn’t happen which is a dangerous precedent to set. the fact that the duffers edited the scene doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. steve still find the pictures and rips them up. nancy still takes them and finds out what happens to barb through them. duffers, if you want to make likable characters, make them learn from their actions, not erase them.
