blurple time.

finally finished this~ months after he appeared 😅

you can tell there's a bit of a punk/industrial vibe infusing the whole design. i also drew from various details in the comics, and other random things like bulletproof leather jackets.

closeups, ramblings, (and a version with a cape) under the cut:

i was originally not planning to add a cape cause i wasn't sure if i could make it work and tbh. still not sure. i like the way the purple cape looks from behind but the inside is like. idk. if it's purple then it looks weird, but the black feels off to me too... I don't think any of the other colors would work.

oh also i decided this glows in the dark (predictable as always)

Helmet's been through some sketches and stuff, spent a while figuring out the mechanisms and so on and settled on this design in the end.

Obviously you can see here the top is leather, it's based on a combo of a motorcycle cowl (with an angled zip you can just see there, and then the shoulders from an armored motorcycle jacket i was looking at. then the blue is meant to be a (heavily) modified like, boilersuit or whatever those are. mechanic's jumpsuit.

Plus all the spikes. Obviously there's no spider-punk in this setting but I like the aesthetics, and I like giving Hobie like a little thing of his own in terms of hobbies/interests so I thought adding that punk aspect would be fun, esp as it ties into his whole thing with being unsure of himself and being a little different and so on.

the lenses are one piece each, just with different colors of film on them, like you see on a variety of custom motorcycle visors. used chrome silver for the white "eyes," which i think would look cool and matches the metal hardware. very reflective. hobie prob won't be the only design with chrome/mirrored lenses for reflective purposes (thinking about the hobgoblin) (well. technically peter will also have aluminized lenses at one point but that's a spare mask for fires, not a main look)

earlier concept which i drew on my phone actually lol. some of this i obv jus copy-pasted cause it was fine as is, other stuff got tweaked, like i ended up changing the lens shape to look a little more like the comics and i did end up scrapping that shape for the faceplate/chin.

and you can see there i edited a pic from the comics playing with what colors i wanted to use. i liked the steel blue that showed up in some of the older painted art from the Prowler's earliest appearances, and I felt like I wanted to give him a color other than purple and green, though I didn't wanna ditch the purple either, so I ended up with this kind of neon blurple + navy combo that I liked a lot. And the silver too.

back of the jacket and helmet. Didn't originally plan on adding all those spikes but then I was sketching this out and I was like, oh... that would look cool... so i committed!! i like how it looks.

Originally I also had no logo/symbol on the front of the chest so I decided to put one on the back. Then I ended up adding that flat panel to the chest and added the symbol there too, and decided to keep the back one as well. i can def see a 19 year old being like, hell yeah... sick... people will definitely take me seriously now. and you know what. he's right.

i will admit i ended up a little dissatisfied with the story i told involving the Prowler in the linked fic, but... I also probably shouldn't have tried to wedge it between like five warring subplots. But it was like, the spot that made the most sense. If this was a cartoon I think it would be a like... 1-2 issue special focused more on him. And also peter would jump out the window. (The real tragedy that I didn't include cause it's hilarious, poor Hobie XD)

Anywho. Is this mechanism needlessly complex? Perhaps. I tried to simplify it at one point but then the more I thought about it the less the simplified version worked so I stuck with the OG idea here. I mean, i guess I could have ditched the locking mechanism entirely but i thought it would be fun if the helmet was self-locking! I also wanted a way for it to rotate/go visor up even with the spikes, thus it being a pretty large rotating faceplate with the spikes on it instead of elsewhere. not that he ever puts it up in the fic. peter just takes hobie's helmet off there 😂

He's also wearing a balaclava under there which I didn't bother really drawing, mostly to protect his hair (which I put in twists for related reasons of helmet-wearing) (I briefly had been considering braids but then, well, ATSV and Miles G. happened and I said, well now I cannot do that XD) (I mean I COULD have but I wanted to do something else here lol) Anyway. The idea here is that it's a kind of slide lock with a spring-loaded peg that slots into the holes, and the square hole with the square peg locks the faceplate in place and prevents it from rotating, but when the square peg is in the round hole, the faceplate can rotate freely. The only wrinkle here would be that Hobie has to pull on both locks simultaneously or as close to it as possible or he'd risk cracking the helmet (i assume? stress and pressure etc.)

Sliding the lock forward also slides the whole plate forward, which lets me (in theory) have a flush, smooth silhouette while still allowing it to come forward enough to push up. It's not vacuum sealed or anything though. But it does have like... air filters and a voice modulator and some other things. MOST of the suit is super low tech and doesn't require electricity but the helmet probably has batteries or something. (peter's new webshooters at this point are also battery powered lol)

Helmet is pretty typical fiberglass construction with foam pads inside. Idea there is that Hobie made a lot of this stuff using campus workshop resources like autobody or machining shop on campus, for stuff like getting fiberglass, having a space to work in, making polycarbonate lenses etc. Though it's totally possible to do fiberglass work at home too. (peter also uses campus resources for his lenses specifically btw)

Gauntlets!!! Uhhhh ngl very difficult. Trying to design armored gauntlets that don't look like knightly armor is very hard for me cause I always just google reference pics of knightly armor. LOL. I think these came out alright. There's a hint of motocross influence there too (though really even in modern days armor is armor so there end up being shared traits) The gloves ended up being mostly leather with some armored parts, though there is probably some inner armor which is not visible. The claws I left bare since you would not be able to sharpen claws coated in plasti dip—

oh yeah the purple color on all the hard parts is plasti dip, which is basically rubber paint.

The wrist gauntlets are very very very loosely based on a guy's grappling rope web-shooter thing which you can see in this youtube video: link. though i didn't wanna just rip him off so i mostly just said, alright, tubes and a harness—which the prowler already has in the comics anyway, albeit smaller. so really it's pretty much like the comics anyway.

Right wrist has the green laser dazzler, both have grapples, left wrist has EMP (not pictured) which Hobie uses in the scene I have him and Peter fight except then I realized recently I didn't actually explain what that was or how it was working 😂 I probably should have done that scene from Hobie's POV in retrospect. It's an EMP though and it scrambles Peter's spidey sense via interference/signal noise.

waist utility belt... I like the way the silver belt on the old art looks! So I decided to make these hard silver hinged cases instead of soft pouches (originally were soft but I changed my mind while coloring) — IDK if these really are metal or if they're just fiberglass with chrome paint lol but either way, shiny chromey, hinged to open, the insides are probably padded... buckle is actually metal though.

Boots—modified snow boots. These are loosely based off of a real thing btw: link to blog post

The silver things are the magnets. Gauntlets are probably also magnetic but those are not visible like the boot ones. I also read some comments saying certain kinds of electromagnets would be preferable for something like boots but ultimately, IDK how to draw that, so I just drew it like they look in jen foxbot's prototype.

There was some other stuff I initially planned on including that didn't make the cut, aside from the cape. I was toying with stuff like a jetpack (or really, a jump jet), gliding/wingsuit, etc. but... I didn't use any of those. Kept it simple and streamlined for the most part. so no gliding for this Prowler, but hey, he's got magnet boots.

maybe in the future if Hobie ends up with an Iron Man-esque collapsible suit, perhaps he'll be able to fly, but for now, he's a college student making a supervillain persona so he can keep himself from getting evicted...

And his face!!! cutie :3 loosely inspired by Greg Eagles' face (the voice actor for grimm from billy and mandy) Not that ATSV had no impact on this design but that was the main thing. Twists to keep his hair protected in the helmet under the balaclava etc. and something he can do himself, and then a twist out afterward.

I honestly cant do buggler i have nothing nice to say about the R interpretation, which if you are who i am assuming would probably suck to hear... But i DO really like Fussell

Favorite thing: the fact that he balances out the sbr2 cast making it more camp than grating when hes onscreen, close second is definitely how he was characterized least favorite thing: the fact they made him distinctly ex human or at least incredibly human like in design, shoulda been more fuckt up tbh. would really sell the agony... either that or at LEAST keep him obscured ontill the helmet broke for symbolism favorite quote: man i just like the way he talks, unfortunately i do not have his dialogue on hand like basically every other character im mentally ill about. if incorrect non canon quotes are allowed here i think "i want to die so bad white boy" from one of my previous sketch pages brotp: white bomber and fussell. no further comment otp: i have no idea man. title up for grabs notp: im sorry but respectfully i think he and buggler would not be able to stand eachother, i think buggler would make him want to die more actually. this is the only real pairing ive seen so like i guess i could be swayed but this pairing isnt for me ykno random headcanon: i think that his research notes are actually published, being quite famous in the times before the incident, the only problem being is that due to the destruction of his previous home and wiping of the society he belonged to the research and notes have fallen into obscurity. this being said i think phantom bomber, if he met fussel and was informed that hes THE guy he would lose his mind

unpopular opinion: he was better than yet another evil team- i said it- the cast already being as big as it is with the dastardlies and the siblings they wouldve made 5 or 6 half baked characters under the time crunch they had that i think it genuinely wouldve made sbr2 worse. favorite image:

Well, a top 3 show of summer 2023 comes to a close and what a ride it’s been. This show simply put, just hit different and had an air of mysticism and fantasy to it that you don’t see a lot these days.

I think the combination of the somewhat modern setting and the magical elements along with the amazing cast were the big reasons. Also the fact it was adapted from a proper novel where writing tends to be more mature. I’m gonna miss Aya and Tsugaru jokes on Wednesdays 😭

Onto the episode itself, had a little of everything that makes this series so good. The shorter runtime concerned me a little at first, but the decision to open with the OP theme during a sakuga display was really cool. Carmilla and Shizuku in particular was awesome.

There’s so much unsaid sexual tension between the two of them that comes through in every scene. They paid off the fact that Shizuku wasn’t wearing underwear in a pretty funny way too. Carmilla lucky af for getting that view lmao.

And the culprit finally revealed! Wow what a twist, again, the author has such a good way of subverting expectations. I would’ve never imagined it was Jute masquerading as Nora. It makes sense now how Nora reacted when Shizuku suggested it could be an inside job. Alma, the doctor, etc., all misdirections. Aya’s walkthrough of the case put everything into perspective and is a riveting tale of deception. Masterclass from Jute really.

Her hatred of both villages is understandable I can’t lie. Her mother got screwed over by her own people and then the humans didn’t even want them. Even Louise supported her in her quest for revenge. She would’ve gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those meddling kids 😂

I love how creative the final fight between Tsugaru and Nora was. Using that unique sketch style animation in the dark was cool. I don’t mind them letting her off because she was a victim tbh. Neither the human village nor the werewolf village were safe for her, but if Moriarty and banquet are after her DNA for the chimera, idk how safe it is for her to be on her own. I guess in a way since her location is now random it’s better than travelling with the party, but still…

Either way, awesome finale. Awesome show and I can’t wait to read the books

So you say you're into horror games and villains... are you interested in fic or art for any horror games, villains, or horror game villains ? I know mentioning character names can be dicey on here so don't feel you have to answer this but I'm curious

YES and i’ve honestly contemplated making a whole list of characters i want to see snz art/fics/etc of, so i guess this is my cue to do just that lol

i plan on posting content of some of these characters myself probably, most likely art bc as much as i want to post fics here, writing snz fics is actually sooo difficult for me like i can’t keep up with the plot for anything rip

so here’s my list of fandoms i would adore seeing snz content for and the certain characters from said fandoms i’m most interested in when it comes to snz stuff (fyi all the characters are gonna be male bc that’s who i’m more into, at least in terms of fictional characters):

re/sident e/vil; tbh i don’t have any one specific character i’m into like… snz wise? but if i had to pick i’d say probably le/on bc like come on. he’s a classic. i also feel like e/than and ca/rlos are suuuuuuch good candidates. and this one is super random but we did say we were talking villains here so i’m gonna list him too: will/iam bi/rkin. he’s like a wet rag of a man so why not (also side note bc it just crossed my mind that i completely forgot about THE main re villain, but for some reason we/sker just does not do it for me like at all? idk that’s just me but ofc no judgement here. just me explaining why i never mentioned him)

sil/ent h/ill; okay so honestly i have one specific game that i care about in terms of snz content and that’s sh4. like all the main characters would work tbh but bc this is me we’re talking about wa/lter su/llivan is my man. evil pathetic meow meow

the e/vil wi/thin; ru/vik is too much of a sexy loser for us not to be snzifying him. also his nose is really hot sooooooo… (i also think le/slie would be v cute with a snzy cold but i want to make it abundantly clear that i would never intend to infantilize him as much of the mid-2010s general fandom did, nor would i want to sexualize the abuse he suffered in ANY way. there’s too much nuance to portraying his character than i should get into here)

those are really like my big 3 of horror games i can think of bc most of the other games i’m into i can’t really picture any of the characters in snz context at all tbh? but any less popular fandoms (or just unpopular on snzblr) would definitely interest me so this is just my way of saying pleeeeeease make content of characters from whatever niche fandoms y’all are into! i will always eat it up!!!!

tattoo get, report for @ceylonsilvergirl below <3

I went to Rhiannon at Strange Magic Tattoo, they were very communicative and easy to talk to, very invested in my comfort etc. they used a cordless needle gun, which they say is much quieter. this was on my left thigh.

pain: it feels about the same as digging out an ingrown hair with sharp tweezers. better than getting a line set for a blood draw even accounting for the relative durations. I would say that it feels like it's about to punch through and hurt worse than it actually does which may psych people out into thinking it's more painful than it is, but it always stays on the near side of that little barrier. this took technically an hour but I would guess like 40 minutes of actual inking? and it was very easy. but bear in mind I have chronic pain and am a professional patient so I have to sit through worse for less all the time anyway. tbh my random ambient aches like the patch that reacted to my exfoliant last night are currently worse than the site, although it was sprayed with bactine which is a topical anesthetic.

appointment scheduling: this shop was appointment only, they had both a google form and a contact email that went to the main shop who then gave me the artist's email. I had to follow up once after the initial email as they had just come back from vacation and the forwarded email probably got lost. I sent them the image I had drawn and a description of what it was and where I wanted it as well as some relevant info like this is my first tattoo, I'd like to have someone with me for cripple reasons, etc. they gave me their hourly rate and a time estimate. this shop also requires a deposit to hold the appointment, which counts towards the total bill and which I was able to send to the artist directly.

the actual appointment: skipped the two closest doses of prescribed aspirin, filled out a consent form, got the area cleaned/shaved and the stencil applied for approval, let that dry down and then lay down with my leg supported. they spent time talking through what they used, what they were doing, and what they were going to do. the music was a little too loud but whatever. we chatted amiably while they worked and it was generally very easy. I wore my loose pajama pants so I could roll them up to expose the site without cutting off circulation. they use second skin, so I basically just don't touch it for 3 days then regularly clean and moisturize after that. showering etc is still fine from the getgo. there were minor modifications to the design that were not sketched out but were verbally agreed upon beforehand. the artist, matt, and me were the only ones there.

price: another shop gave me an estimate of $350 for the same design, but possibly due to more communication beforehand this was $180+tip for 1 hour of work. I tipped 20% since I have heard that's standard and also it was all the money I technically had spendable plus $2.

Hhhhhhhh I wasn’t sure to post this here, but my friends wanted this to be on Tumblr as well and I have got some asks about my Junzumi fankids, especially Kou, so🤣🤣. I guess nowadays I have learnt to just post my trash stuff and laugh about it, because that’s also the fun in drawing whatever passes in your mind XD.

Hmm, someone asked me to draw Kou a month ago. On my birthday I also joked about him and Fairymon, his *cough* guardian angel in bra and panties LMAOOOOO. So, I guess I just wanted to draw them (+ his Herissmon, because I have got my own trash headcanons about Herissmon due to the TGC🤣). In the future I want to draw some random sketches of their stupid shenanigans since I should really pay more attention to my troublemaker disaster Junzumi son and Fatinamon. I’ve struggled so much to take courage to make a silly Fakemon; the minimum I can do is to give love to her.

Nothing special happening here, but I admit I’m so in love with the fact Fairymon let Izumi look at the colours of the winds thanks to their bond. So, I do headcanon a Junzumi kid could inherit that from Izumi, maybe in an even more accentuated form, (and would be considered as such a weirdo by his peers, because Koujirou Orimoto can’t get a break lol).

Of course, Junpei’s sky is as normal as ever, but he has got used to imagining the special landscapes Izumi can see🤣. Poor man tbh, he deserves to get to admire motley winds. I love you very much, Junpei.

I was wondering how you learned to draw seemingly every pose and perspective in existence! I find it amazing how you're able to draw so much and so well in in such little time

Hi, I was thinking about the reply for a while because I literally don't know where to start with =))

I only draw for entertaining purpose and making fanarts, even my com is sketch com so my main goal in practicing is drawing something quick with the least sketch as possible. Idk if it has something to do with "muscle memory" or anything else. And I don't deliberately spend a proper amount of time to focus on anatomy. I just kept drawing, analysing and learning at the same time everyday :))

After tons of fanarts I drew for my ship (yeah), I just got more comfortable sketching human pose and that's it 🥲

Btw, this is what I do with things I called 'references'

First, analyse the body, break it into parts, like playing puzzle or lego 🗿(seriously that is how I see it)

Secondly, just don't directly throw the reference away and use the one you just sketch out, it helps nothing tbh. Try drawing that pose again using what you've just analysed. At this stage you can change the proportion and shape of the body to fits your art stylez

Yeah and I guess...keep drawing more and more, then sometimes looks at your old art and look for mistakes you made. That's what I do everyday :>

Sexuality Headcanon: I don't actually vibe with the Kinsey scale, but for the sake of simplicity: she's like a 1. I don't think she would label herself as anything more detailed than queer, though

Gender Headcanon: It's complicated. Other people might assume she's gnc, but she's cis. She's just... not very good at performing Valinorean gender, and generally interested in trying very hard to. But she very much identifies as female

A ship I have with said character: FEANOR!!! And that's it. But that's one of my favorite otps across all my fandoms

A BROTP I have with said character: ...also Feanor. Her children as well. MAHTAN. Aule. My completely made up post-Darkening friendship between Nerdanel and Manwe

A NOTP I have with said character: Anaire and/or Earwen. I'm not a huge fan of them as friends (I find it more interesting if they are not) and I'm definitely not into them as romantic ship(s)

A random headcanon: She has a pad and charcoal with her pretty much at all times and is semi-constantly taking down quick sketches of things that interest her. They're studies for future sculptures, but she favors abstract sculptures so very few people can see the relationship between sketches and final products

General Opinion over said character: Love of my life. Blorbo. I once worked myself up to tears just by thinking about her tragedy. Would kill and die for her.

Celegorm

Sexuality Headcanon: Pan but also poly (in the sense of polyamory), which is a major taboo in Valinor and messes him up quite a bit.

Gender Headcanon: I'm a huge fan of transmasc Celegorm tbh, I have a whole post about it

A ship I have with said character: None? Not in particular. I deeply enjoy the idea of Celegorm, in one of his creepiest moments, deciding if he ever can become Not Poly, it will be by loving Luthien, the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, who comes with a crown. But that's not a ship, that's a plot point headcanon, I wouldn't even want this plot point to last long.

A BROTP I have with said character: Other than his family? Orome, I guess. I will say, though, that I enjoy Celegorm getting along with his cousins more than other Feanorians do

A NOTP I have with said character: Aredhel. I like him seeing her as a little sister so much I genuinely forget this is a popular ship until I see it

A random headcanon: Adores children. Ever since childhood, he just loves everyone who's younger than him. And yes, he's fun and has unusual ideas about safety, but he's actually extremely protective and will never put a child in actual danger. He gives them the illusion of danger without ever actually endangering them

General Opinion over said character: I mean, my blog is like 90% Feanorians at some points, do you even have to ask? I love him. My own son, I love him

Maglor

Sexuality Headcanon: I have two answers for this. The actual headcanon is bi. The funny headcanon is that he's aroace but assumes he's pan because "equal amounts of attraction equals pan, right?" when the amount of attraction is actually zero. The reason why this is funny is because I always headcanon Maedhros as aroace, and I deeply enjoy the idea of the two of them having the same identity but having no clue of it until like, halfway through adulthood

Gender Headcanon: Very much cismale

A ship I have with said character: Daeron, but in a very specific way, and it's a ship I enjoy a lot, but not quite an otp

A BROTP I have with said character: As with all Finweans, his whole family. I have to mention kidnap fam, but I only enjoy it if it's messed up. Also - Daeron again

A NOTP I have with said character: His semi-canonical spouse. I never remember they exist and when I do, I just say "No, thanks."

A random headcanon: Absolutely deadly on the battlefield. He doesn't enjoy violence, but being ruthless won't keep him up at night. And mercy killings are kind of his thing.

General Opinion over said character: Same as Celegorm - my own son. But I feel like almost all the headcanons I have about Maglor are almost the opposite of the most popular fanons

Beren

Sexuality Headcanon: ...PTSD. No, just kidding. But kind of not. I headcanon Beren simply hasn't had the opportunity to even meet people he could conceivably be attracted to. I headcanon him as bi, but does he know that? Nope. As far as he's concerned, he's stayingalivesexual at first and then Luthiensexual later

Gender Headcanon: Cis, but after his first death, he generally stops caring and is curious enough about Luthien's weird, half-Maia gender to try out some minor gender presentation things. But it does nothing for him, really, he's just curious and after trying it once he pretty much loses interest. A case could be made for some flavor of enby.

A ship I have with said character: Luthien, of course. Daeron/Beren is a crackship that I take more seriously every time I joke about it and one of these days I'll end up unironically getting into it and crying over the tragedy of it all

A BROTP I have with said character: Barahir's outlaws as a group. Finrod and his elves, too. Thingol and Melian (trust me, I can make it work.) And I have many thoughts about him and Dior. As always, I gravitate around family groups. Oh, and I have an entire au in my head where he basically adopts Turin, and I love it

A NOTP I have with said character: Interestingly, Finrod. They have a lot of elements that usually would make them otp material for me, but somehow I can't get into it

A random headcanon: Could give some of the best archers in Tolkien a run for their money

General Opinion over said character: From my hyperspecific ramblings you can probably guess I'm always thinking about him. I love him both for who he is and for how he parallels ten thousand characters. Parallels make brain go brr

Namo

Sexuality Headcanon: Vala. I headcanon no Vala can feel attraction, romantic or sexual. They experience attraction rather in the way their roles in the Song are structured, and I can't wrap my mind around it

Gender Headcanon: Similar to the above. I headcanon the Valar only really started doing gender based on their understanding of how the Children of Iluvatar would be like, and they're all outside of the gender spectrum we could understand. No, they aren't agender, either. Nor xenogender. They're Something Else.

A ship I have with said character: Again, none. Vaire, I suppose, but that falls between ship and brotp

A BROTP I have with said character: See above on Vaire. Other relationships I enjoy are Lorien and Nienna, as well as Manwe

A NOTP I have with said character: Um... none? Nothing I can think of

A random headcanon: He's gentler with the dead than with the living. Not because he's awkward or anything. He's just conscious of the power he has over the dead and is more careful not to misuse it, while the living are free real estate to treat in any way he sees fit depending on the person

General Opinion over said character: I love the Valar in general, although they break my brain. Mandos is one of the ones I think the least often about, but whenever I do think about him I go "Oh he's fun, I should think about him more often!"

Sauron

Sexuality Headcanon: See Namo. I think Maiar can feel attraction, though, it's just extremely rare, and tends to be for other Maiar. I headcanon Sauron is one of those who has never felt any kind of non-Song-related attraction towards anyone, really. But he's keenly aware of how to be attractive and enjoys it, but from a power rush standpoint only

Gender Headcanon: See Namo again. But I think Sauron finds gender annoyingly messy (what do you mean each culture sees it differently? That's inefficient. No.) and struggles to commit to it in the way most other other Ainur do. Left to his own devices he nopes out of gender; when he's among people (eg Eregion, or Numenor) he performs gender perfectly while finding the whole thing absurd. He defaults to male gender exclusively because of the societal benefits; he would default to female in a matriarchal society, probably.

A ship I have with said character: None

A BROTP I have with said character: Um... Also none? I deeply enjoy the idea of Morgoth and Sauron being a twisted version of Manwe and Eonwe (which is a brotp I have) but it's not a brotp as much as a trainwreck dynamic. I also enjoy Sauron and Celebrimbor having messed up dynamics, but again, trainwreck. Aule and Sauron can be fun but I'm picky.

A NOTP I have with said character: I'm not at all into Sauron being actively in love with someone, so. All of them.

A random headcanon: Ironically for a crafter, he sort of. sucks. at creating realistic fanar for himself. He always ends up in uncanny valley territory due to compulsively wanting to have no flaws - he looks computer-generated, basically. He was better at this when the world was young, but the more he corrupts himself, the worst he becomes at it (while he still can change his fana, anyway)

General Opinion over said character: I wouldn't say I don't like Sauron, but I'm fairly uninterested in straight up villains, while being uninterested in making Sauron anything but the embodiment of a specific kind of evil (though that depends on when in the timeline we're talking about), so I tend not to give him too much thought. He's fun to play with, though, philosophically speaking

Morgoth

Sexuality Headcanon: Again. Vala. Does not apply.

Gender Headcanon: Vala. Does not apply. But he's a huge fan of how gender opens the door for comprehensive oppression in new and fresh ways. Up there with jewelry in the list of best things the elves came up with.

A ship I have with said character: Oh, none. I can crackship him and Gothmog exclusively because I think it'd be funny to ship an Angband ship that isn't Angbang, but that's just to laugh about, I wouldn't be interested in actually exploring it

A BROTP I have with said character: Like I said, Sauron, in a twisting of a Vala-Maia relationship. MANWE MANWE MANWE MANWE. Nienna. Recently, Indis. Hate-brotp with too many characters to count - I love people pissing Morgoth off

A NOTP I have with said character: None? All? I'm unlikely to either enjoy a Morgoth ship or hate it enough to run away

A random headcanon: He genuinely cannot feel love anymore, but he badly wants Manwe under his command because their connection is part of the fabric of the universe, and servitude is the only way Morgoth can conceptualize wanting Manwe near now he can't understand brotherhood anymore (actually I should make a post about this, I have many thoughts on this)

General Opinion over said character: Pretty much exactly the same opinion as what I said about Sauron, but I'll add Book of Lost Tales Melko entertains me a lot

Melian

Sexuality Headcanon: One of the rare Maiar who feels attraction, and the Ainur judge her for directing it at an elf. Having said that, Thingol is an anomaly, and she is attracted to no other being in the world, although she intellectually understands the concept of attraction better than most Ainur

Gender Headcanon: Maia. Does not apply, really, but she delights in something similar to elven womanhood. She would probably consider herself trans, though, because she's chasing a gender euphoria that she does not get with whatever is going on with the Ainur concept of gender

A ship I have with said character: Thingol. That's literally it.

A BROTP I have with said character: Essentially anyone who's ever stepped in Doriath, I kid you not. The instant someone steps in Doriath I start inventing a relationship they could have with Melian. Also, Yavanna and Orome

A NOTP I have with said character: Um... none? ...actually. Thingol/Melian done wrong. I nope out of a lot of portrayals of them as much as I get into portrayals of them I enjoy.

A random headcanon: Her voice is rather deep and quiet and creepily melodic. It's the clearest giveaway she's not actually an elf

General Opinion over said character: I have always enjoyed Melian, but the older I get, the more fond I become of her tbh. Not sure why but it's been a clear tendency for the past decade of my life

Thingol

Sexuality Headcanon: Uh... queer. Some flavor of. But I can't pin it down and I think he definitely wouldn't.

Gender Headcanon: Manflux, but on an elvish scale of time. He can occasionally spend a mortal lifetime without any changes to how he feels about his gender, for example

A ship I have with said character: Melian. Other than that, Finwe (sometimes including Miriel as an OT3, but I tend to headcanon Thingol/Miriel as qp)

A BROTP I have with said character: Same as Melian - everybody who's ever been in Doriath. Also his family (Thingol and Elwe in particular break my heart), and Finwe and Ingwe

A NOTP I have with said character: Same as Melian: Thingol/Melian done wrong. I don't know, I feel like there are some ships I'd consider notps, but none is coming to mind

A random headcanon: Local tall elf uses disturbing height to perfect the art of forehead kisses. No, really. Not many people get them but it's pretty unforgettable if you can manage to get one. (This goes hand-in-hand with my headcanon forehead kisses were the go-to way to wish someone well in Cuivienen, and that tradition stuck in most of Beleriand, though not in Aman.)

General Opinion over said character: I really like him! I mean, very flawed character who is doing his best but that's really inadequate for the situations he finds himself in? That's My Type. I can also be very protective of him because I think he has enough flaws without people bad-faith interpretations of every single thing he does. (But also he's a mess, don't make him perfect either. I'm picky.)

Daeron

Sexuality Headcanon: Demi

Gender Headcanon: You know what? This is the first time I'm thinking about Daeron's gender. I have no idea. Masc-presenting, I think, but there's something... unusual about how I picture his gender? Like, I would describe his gender as "boy" very comfortably, but "man" feels off, but I don't headcanon him as particularly childish, so I don't know. Something.

A ship I have with said character: When it's done in the particular way I like, Luthien. As I've mentioned, I might end up going for Daeron/Beren too. I've mentioned Daeron/Maglor, too. And I'm not sure whether to go on ship or on brotp but I have a friend who is trying to sell me on qp Beleg/Daeron and they're being successful

A BROTP I have with said character: LUTHIEN LUTHIEN LUTHIEN. Thingol and Melian. Occasionally, I get in a mood to explore Beleg and Mablung too. Oh, Maglor, too, in a specific way.

A NOTP I have with said character: None?

A random headcanon: There is not a person Daeron has ever met he cannot make laugh or at least smile given enough time

General Opinion over said character: I'M A PROUD MEMBER OF THE DAERON DEFENSE SQUAD. I'm just that meme of the samurai holding the cat, you know the one? I love him so much and people are so mean to him. Also, I draw a lot of my characterization for him by comparing the evolution of other Leithian characters through drafts, and considering how Daeron might have evolved if Tolkien gave him as much attention as I wish he had - and that's just intellectually fun

Mim

Are you part of the rock opera discord?

Sexuality & Gender Headcanon: Lumping these together because I'm so torn. I have headcanons about how dwarrow genders work but they're very... Durin line-centric. I'm not sure how much they'd apply to Mim's own culture, nor how he would relate to genders outside of his own culture. So um... I guess further worldbuilding is required for me to be able to answer this.

A ship I have with said character: SIGH. I hate my life, but. Mim/Finrod. Listen. It has potential. It has! The tragedy of it al!!!!! (Let this be a lesson that if you crackship something for long enough you'll end up really shipping it.) I could also, I think, ship Mim/Beleg but exclusively in the context of a mutually destructive ship where Mim is just taking out his Finrod issues on somebody else and Beleg..... no idea, I haven't thought that far. The ship has just now occurred to me, don't ask difficult questions.

A BROTP I have with said character: I very much enjoy his relationship with Turin and the rest of his crew, but it's very important that not a single person under Mim's roof behaves in a hinged way, so jot that down. (I also wish I spent more time thinking about his relationship with his sons, but I haven't really done that yet.)

A NOTP I have with said character: None. Listen, after Mim/Finrod I think it's been conclusively proved I will ship Mim with anyone given enough incentive

A random headcanon: He enjoys epic poetry/music as defined by his people. I feel very strongly about it. It's important to him, and the loss of the songs he's never learned grieves him.

General Opinion over said character: I've been looking forward to meeting him in my CoH re-read! I find him very tragic, and he always reminds me Norse mythology, which I used to love as a child. Also, I have to read his Complaint one of these days, if I can find a re-translation and the right mood to read it

It was never gonna happen but I kind of wished Gridania and Limsa declared war on Ul’dah. Would obviously be shitty for the Ul’dahn people but seriously idk what the traitors were thinking.

I knew you were the fuckin’ rat Ilberd. Gods I wish Lolorito died too, hated him since the culinarian questline Man I liked Raubahn, wish cutscene syndrome didn’t prevent us from kicking the traitor’s teeth in with him. Who tf are they even working for? Unless it’s the literal Ascians I don’t see how anyone thought this was a good plan making the literal god slayer go against you.

Hooray we’re fugitives! I mean we’re totally going to Ishgard right? Ser Aymeric is our friend (kinda) and we have nowhere else to go, Ul’dah is out and the Crystal Braves have everywhere else covered. I rather like Yda and Papalymo, I hope they don’t die but it seems likely. Minfilia we gotta move ffs. They’re not dead yet

In the sewers baby! Even more splitting the party, I hope Y’shtola and Thancred don’t die either Ah yes Thancred the fuckboy until the end (he might still live tho) Also I noticed it in the last few quests but man whoever is Minfilia’s EN Voice is just drifting in and out of the accent at random and it’s really distracting What even is Y’shtola? Some kind of caster clearly Who Mhitra? and that looks way more like death than Yda and Papalymo

We splitting up from Minfilia too apparently. Man Maerwyn would be fucking pissed at this point, time to raze Ul’dah to the ground.

Oh yeah Alphinaud exists, he made it out somehow, who’s the tato? Oh hey it’s the guy! from the intro! his name’s Brendt apparently, funny you recognized me considering I’m an Elezen now lol. Alisaie to the rescue apparently. Nice to meet ya Pipin

Hopefully this humbles Alphinaud a bit, tbh he kind of got on my nerves a bit near the end, everything was going this way and he was really cocky about everything, the thing that comes to mind is asking the Alliance for help for Ishgard, as far as I see it the 3 leaders were in the right, saving Ishgard is obviously good but you can’t just leave your own countries undefended.

Ay Cid, to Ishgard we go! I feel like I should know who Pipin’s dad is, but I don’t, hope to see Pipin again he seems tight.

Speaking of Haurchefaunt he seems like he’s into the WoL, or maybe I’m reading into it? Doesn’t help my WoL is a female Elezen.

The Falling Snows it is. Companions? Did other people make it here then?

OMG ITS FINALLY DONE NOW I MAY REST THESE WEERY HANDS

A continuation of drawing Dani’s characters from Crystal Springs The Season Sisters are HERE!!

This took so incredibly long because unlike The Frosts, i didn't have the clearest picture in my head of what the seasons looked like and there was A LOT of ironing out to do on these designs but they're here!!!

And because i spent so long on the design process under the cut is gonna be a lot of random details and things i did while making them (Cause i am a character design nerd)

WARNING: It is LONG under the cut. I gots a lot to say

Summer:

I did some preliminary sketches before reading too far into CS and i SCREAMED when i accurately guessed that summer was both black and buff. The only correct call tbh

I was really caught between giving her natural hair (to match Autumn) or the spiky Christmas tree hair i had originally envisioned for her. But i like the shape of the spiky hair too much to let it go

The design to add blue and green motifs were very last minute because she needed something to break up the yellow.

Originally her arm details started out as mesh sleeves in the preliminaries, then turned into vague markings, then i decided to make them landscape tattoos

Summer doesn't technically have a crown, because i forgot/didn't want to make one lol

Summer i had the least ideas for her outfit so it went through a lot of versions

Spring:

Spring i probably got the most wrong from the canon tbh lol

Her vibes ended up being more Riverfront/freshwater inspired, especially when it came to the hair. long and flowy baby

The HARDEST design i had to make with spring is to decide what dress silhouette i would do. Because I originally wanted her and autumns dresses to both be open slits but mirrored, but the fluffy skirt ended up really selling me. So i took the shape from dress 3, the top half from dress 1, and the flower accents on the sleeves from dress 2

Other than the outfit, spring has also probably changed the least in terms of looks

She gives me Isabella energy from Encanto

Autumn:

AUTUMN WAS SO FUN TO DO. She's what kept me going throughout this process and she's the one who’s final design i like the best.

I had such a clear image of her in my head, the shortest and chubbiest. Unintentionally very pumpkin like

SPEAKING of pumpkins, her pumpkin sleeves were a total ACCIDENT. COMPLETELY UNPLANNED. i accidentally made them on the final dress option and i fell in love, so for the final design i added little green ribbons to highlight this detail.

I wanted to also give her the leaved collar from dress 2 but i absolutely forgot about until just now when i’m typing this out lol

She has an ever so slight disco vibe to her final design (carried over from dress 2) and i love that for her

Winter:

Winter was nothing too strenuous considering i’ve done outfit studies for her before

BUT THAT DOES’NT MEAN I HAVE��NT PICKED 1 OUTFIT FOR HER YET

Every dress i try i like a little too much and i can see her everything as her main outfit so far, but the final design i did nail down will do just fine lol

I ended up taking the split skirt detail from dress 1 and just combined that with the rest of dress 3

I imagined her to be really ethereal, so i blurred the lines of where her clothes end and her skin begins

The golden necklace is from Blaise :)

I don’t know why, but it was really important to me to make sure that winter has small titties

Idk if anyone has picked up on this ye, but since i designed winter after drawing jack a whole bunch, i accidentally made it so he gets the little hair swoopties in the back from her lol.

All Four:

I imagined them as quadruplets and all of them being the same age

I originally thought of them as like a choir/quartette so the very first ideas i had for them where trying to make them all as similar as possible

That being said, i still think of them as a choir group akin to The Muses from Hercules and The Fates from the musical Hadestown (Which is how i imagine them to sound/sing). I can see them narrating the story points as its happening in song form.

Any one of the other ideas i had for them can be taken as another outfit they have in their closets :)

All of their skirts are actually indicative of their season. Summer has both of her legs out, Winter has both of hers covered, Fall only has 1 leg out and Spring has only a little of both out.

- best friend / partner in crime: his other half. the dumb to his dumber. attached at the hip and always together, wreaking havoc. - close friends: just some good close friends to bond and get into some nice fun completely (?) harmless (?) trouble with. - his fascination: someone that he has grown increasingly fascinated with and maybe is a little annoying about it. is crushing on this individual big time and does little to nothing to hide it. - d&d party: richie is currently a DM for a campaign so bring me the nerds. he is 100% basing it off of real life supernatural events/species so call him out for it. - first love/ex: the first person he dated. they were super close friends before they started dating, and when they realized that they were meant to remain as friends, they broke things off amicably. they continue to be friends but richie has a softer spot for them, and will go out of his way to make sure they're okay. - people who just don't like him: richie is annoying okay. he has a very interesting way of showing up in places he probably shouldn't because he's nosy and suspicious. especially when he thinks something bad is about to go down. catch him dying in a week mans cannot stop himself. - protector: richie has a baseball bat and speed to protect himself with but even then he could make it like ... five feet before someone not human cuts him off or just puts him to SLEEP. this person is someone who is super protective of him. my dream is it to be someone physically smaller than him because richie being six foot two and hiding behind someone like in the five feets would end me.
