Beautiful Shogun finale that encapsulated everything that’s good about this series. My only complaint is that we didn’t get to see Toranaga’s plan fully realised and him becoming shogun. But, narratively I guess that’s consistent with what the story has been about anyway. The 3D chess political manoeuvring and Anjin’s journey.

So many moments got me emotional in this finale from Fuji and Anjin’s “no translator” conversation after Mariko’s death to them letting go of their loved ones in the lake together. Very powerful scenes. Direction was superb as per usual. For a finale with no action, there was no shortage of tense and impactful moments. Honestly felt way shorter than an hour and we do get that final scene of Toranaga I wanted more.

Cosmo(Anjin actor) was brilliant in this. Hope he gets more roles going forward cause this dude can act his ass off. Been a Sawai Anna fan since Monarch TV show and I think the whole world can see why now. Her Mariko character and Anjin’s relationship and character arcs were so satisfying. While they might not have got the ending we wanted, that’s the way life goes sometimes. We live and we die, we control nothing else.

Hollywood can learn a lot from a series like this. Telling a satisfying story in only 10 episodes, no need for sequels or add ons. Without a doubt one of the best tv shows ever made.

Absolutely hilarious episode, this is the konosuba we’ve come to know and love. So many funny moments as usual from start to finish, but we can’t just gloss over the fact Kazuma confirmed to sniff the girls unwashed laundry lmaoo(he’s just like me)

The meeting with Iris went just about as well as you’d expect. Darkness literally told these mfs to be on their best behaviour and to their credit, they were. They’re just a gang of idiots 😂 Kazuma putting on a masterclass in capping, Megumin with her cringe intro and Aqua.. well she was actually decent. That sand painting came out well and made a good impression.

Darkness was the highlight of the episode though. Strengthened her case for best girl. Sticking up for her friends time and time again, especially Kazuma whose exploits had been cast into doubt. Love how she made the princess apologise for insulting Kazuma, took a literal blade for him as well and made sure everyone kept their heads. She may come off as an idiot but she’s not as slow as she seems lol. Too bad Kazuma had to ruin it by stealing the knight’s pants 😂

But that ending! This is where the real fun begins. Kazuma thought he was getting out of there and next thing he knows he’s teleported to Iris’ castle. Animation during that scene was so good too. Can’t wait for this arc to really start next week.

Holy shit what an episode. It really breaks my heart that even in space, there’s discrimination against mutants. “He’s not even a pure Terran” like wtf man. The awful things the council and the empress’ sister were saying about Charles hurt me so bad, and then of he was still willing to stay until he sensed Gambit’s death. Chilling scene. Guess that means eps 5 and 6 happened at the same time. Funny how both the professor and the students were prepping for celebration when bs came up on both sides.

Part of me wishes he could’ve stayed and just been happy, but there’s a lot of work to be done back on earth. Hopefully it’s not the last time he and the empress see each other.. you can tell he really does care for her, but understandably he wants to get back and help his kids

Pretty quiet episode animation wise other than.. STORM GETTING HER POWERS BACK LETS GOO. I knew it was gonna happen and they picked the perfect time to do it. She looks stronger and more focused than ever, plus new outfit. Can’t wait to see her in action again

Still thinking about episode 05’s animation at the end with rogue flying and the “I can’t feel you” 😢 next episode is gonna hit like a brick, fuck mr sinister

Masterclass of an episode that just took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Ochiba and Mariko’s backstory and seeing someone like Ochiba who is normally so composed and calculating start crying at the thought of losing a friend and how she and Mariko couldn’t see eye to eye anymore, then the Mariko Seppuku fake out, she and Anjin getting together and then finally the shinobi attack. What the fuck.

Speechless, the acting and direction in this episode was just stellar. Mariko had wanted to die for so long and finally found a reason to live.. Lord please give me an asspull where that explosion didn’t kill her

Oh yea we’re eating gooood with this one. Grown man anime here. Reminds me of a mix between Ooku and Kokyou no Korasu. The historical setting with the intricate political and social dynamic… complex characters and power moves being made in the shadows, love this type of shit.

First two episodes went by really quickly despite dumping a lot of info on us. Introduced some cool characters and their multi faceted personalities and motivations as well as the complex social hierarchy of the kingdom. I can already tell there’s gonna be a lot of twists and turns in the story.

I like how the first two episodes present us with Yukiya and Asebi’s stories. Two characters who have kinda been written off because their second children and come from the sticks. Now they’ve both found themselves in the palace, one with an opportunity to marry the prince and the other as his attendant. Yukiya comes off as kinda silly, but as we saw when he beat up dude who was talking shit about him he’s got a mean side and can be cold and calculating. I really can’t wait to see more of him.

I think this is gonna be a must watch for fans of serious political stories and well written characters.

Well seeing a lot of LN readers displeased with the stuff they cut from this episode, but as an anime only I enjoyed it. Tinasha and Oscar relationship is such a breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre and it was nice to see how she’s settling into life at the castle.

I’m normally very anti tsundere, but Tinasha is just such a fun character and she feels mature. It’s not like a childish annoying tsundere. She just comes off as someone who’s been isolated for so long she has to learn to cooperate with and trust others again. Even the little interactions between she and Oscar just feel like two adults talking instead of all the blushing and bashful stuff we normally see.

As for the episode itself, so cool to get to see Tinasha in action, she’s so bad ass. Pulls up on the evil mages and basically goes “oh yall want to unseal him? I’ll do it for you” then still claps him. The fight animation was absolutely insane. ENGI are cooking. Oscar was worried for nothing in the end because Tinasha can handle herself just fine. You don’t earn the nickname witch of the azure moon for nothing lol.

Can not wait for the next episode, these first two have hit so different. Plus Tinasha is gonna be even hotter now

Dude I feel like I’m crazy because to me this season of Mahouka looks absolutely amazing.

How characters move seems so fluid and just the overall production values are the best I’ve seen from the series, but seeing a lot of people complain about the 3D mixed with 2D scenes.. it looks damn good to me though and the OST is so good as well. For 25 minutes of pure political manoeuvre, this episode went by in an instant.

Things are starting to heat up with FAIR and their disinformation campaign against magicians, the Saegusa family’s counter disinformation campaign and Mayumi’s disapproval with her father’s actions. I get what he’s trying to do, but like Jumonji said, it’s a dangerous game that can and likely will lead to something much worse happening.

Not to mention Shippou starting to make his move against the Saegusa family. Idk what happened to him in the past to make him dislike Kasumi so much, but it’s hilarious that the two of them show up to break up a fight and end up getting in one themselves lmao. It wouldn’t surprise me if the shippou’s are somehow involved in all this too.

A lot of cool worldbuilding in this episode, but it was still very engaging because of the direction and OST. Always nice to see a lot of Mayumi too and she looked gorgeous. I can’t wait to see what Tatsuya got cooked up as a counter measure next week.

Very strong Archdemon Dilemma episode. You know, I wasn’t expecting the magical system in this world to be so well thought out and explained. Zagan explaining how sorcery works to Nephy was surpassingly insightful and intricate. It doesn’t seem like an afterthought like in a lot of fantasy series which is cool.

The fight between Chastille, Zagan and Torres was cool and we got a chance to see just what Nephy’s capable of, as well as getting some insight into her as a character. She’s not just a generic wish fulfillment elf waifu. She’s got a lot of pain and a dark past that she’s holding onto and I think it’s so cool that Zagan accepts her for who she is.

In particular, really loved when she admitted to laughing about the villagers who tortured her dying.. not only does it make her just like me, but it showed that she’s a complex character who’s not just all sweet and perfect. She acts like a normal person.

The two leads’ dynamic is really good and I’m looking forward to more of it.

Seeing some people disappointed with the plot and humour of the first episode, but I thought it was the same old Konosuba we’ve come to know and love, plus connecting back to the movie was a nice touch and giving us a little recap was good after 5 years.

Thought Kazuma still having nightmares about Sylvia “poking” him and realising his popular phase may not be quite what he expected was hilarious. His moments with Megumin were cute too. Not a fan of their ship, but definitely some wholesome moments today.

The demon pretending to be a helpless little girl had that good old Konosuba bait and switch too 😂

As usual, so many funny quips and jokes that it’s hard to highlight one in particular, but I thought Aqua was hilarious today especially when giving out advice about how to make choices. For once she actually said something smart(still best girl).

Can’t wait to see Darkness’ arc adapted starting next week! Solid first episode back. Studio looks like they got the same quality as the first couple seasons.

The girls are officially past the point of no return and there’s no choice but to head to Ikebukuro now, underprepared or not.

This second episode felt like it was mainly covering the girls’ anxieties and doubts about the journey. Leaving their hometown and setting out into the unknown with no supplies or prep was a little crazy and led to some arguments today, but after talking everything out and realising they have each other the girls push forward.

Again can’t emphasise enough how much I love the dialogue in this one. The seiyuus sound like normal people and the writing is so good so far that 24 minutes of just talking flew by in an instant. Nice mix of banter and serious conversations

I wonder if this is going to stay lighthearted or get a little darker. The map that they have with all the stops between Agano and Ikebukuro has various icons on it that seem to represent what happened to the people there. Agano for example has animals and all the people there turned into animals, next stop has mushrooms and the lady at the end has a mushroom sticking out her head.. there’s some really interesting places they can take this mystery and I hope they stick the landing over these 3 months🙏🏾

Ok so finally got around to watching Re:Monster after my boy begged me to get on it and I’m glad I did. Definitely has shades of Tensura and undead unwanted adventurer but still managed to feel very fresh in these first two episodes. I’d say watching the first two back to back is really nice because they feel like one mini prologue arc getting wrapped and the true story beginning.

Gobrou’s journey from a newborn goblin to an ogre feels satisfying and I enjoyed the group dynamics with him rising to a leadership position in the village. Not to mention the military training aspect, preparing the other goblins for combat and totally changing the culture around the goblins, like with eating and sexually abusing human women

Speaking of human women, bro already has an interspecies harem going on lol. I’m interested in where this’ll go and just how strong Gobrou will get. I’d imagine at some point, he’ll have to branch out and form relations with the human villages around ala tensura which will be fun to see.

Animation isn’t the strongest, but the fights are surprisingly well done. Supporting characters are good and just an overall good time for now 👌

Well it’s our obligatory supernatural female wish fulfilment shoujo of the season. Last season we had Momochi house, this season we’ve got vampire dormitory.

Being fired because you have too much aura and are attracting all the bitches is actually crazy, then getting your blood licked by a stranger and told that it tastes horrible.. can’t blame Mito for wanting to unalive 😭. Just everything going wrong for her in such a short period of time, and things she can’t control.

Ruka saving her, bringing her to the vampire dormitory and promising to “love her everyday”is as convenient as can be. It’ll be interesting to see how their relationship develops and how she can keep her being a girl from him. Of course he’s dealing with his own drama trying to become the next leader too..

Show has potential, but I feel like everything is just a bit too convenient right now. Art is decent and Mito is cute.

Nice return to form for Mushoku Tensei. Animation, pacing and direction seem better in this cour which is good. Sweet little slow and wholesome episode to ease us back into the world after the split cour. Seeing Rudeus and Sylphy just happy and finally at peace after all the angst and tension of cour 1 is great.

The haunted mansion hallway scene actually got me with the jump scare. That mechanical doll was creepy lol. Zenoba is still well, Zenoba, but seeing Cliff and Rudy hanging out is cool. Love the dynamic the three of them got going on.

Turned out to be a nice two for one since not only did they pick up the mechanical doll for research, but now Rudy and Sylphy have a lovely first home. Too bad things are still a bit unclear in terms of her future and what she’ll do after school. But I like the approach that she and Rudy are taking. Talking out things and working through your issues together as a team is a sure fire method for success.

Can’t wait to see the stuff adapted from this upcoming arc!

“New euphonium” is a wonderfully apt name for the Hibike Season 3 premiere episode. Kumiko, now the president of the music club, is responsible for assembling a new generation of musicians and getting them ready for the long journey to gold at nationals.

You can really feel how the disappointment of last season’s regional results still lingers with Kumiko. Winning gold has almost become like an obsession to her. I can’t wait to see how she and the girls work towards achieving their goals this season.

The first years seem like they’ll be a lot of fun. Really energetic and a lot of quirky personalities. It’s so cool that they were able to get such a large amount of students to sign up for the music club. The school’s performance at the Kansai regionals will have no doubt got their name out there and made people more interested.

Speaking of the girls, that amazing dynamic between Reina and Kumiko is back and better than ever. Kyoani always have a way of making characters feel so real, and that hallway scene of the two girls just playfully teasing each other about what’s on their minds felt so authentic. It’s a minor moment, but it’s scenes like this that make Hibike and Kyoani works as a whole so special.

Another thing that’ll be fun to see play out is just Kumiko in this leadership role. She’s clearly still a bit nervous and trying to learn on the job and it feels really authentic. That scene at the end of her nearly passing out from excitement when winning gold at nationals was announced as the club’s goal was so well done.

One glaring issue they have is the lack of Eupho players, so Kuroe Maya showed up at the perfect time. This season is shaping up to be even better than the previous two and given everything that’s happened to Kyoani since then, it’ll be that much more special.

“Jellyfish can’t swim on their own”

A year on from the masterclass that was Oshi no Ko’s premiere, Doga Kobo are back with an ethereal and masterful premiere of their latest anime original. The best we’ve seen yet by far. Not only are the direction and production values the best of the season so far, but the character interactions, Yuri vibes and general message of pursuing your dreams and creative endeavours is so well done.

In just one episode, I feel like I’ve come to know Kano and Yoru so well, and you can feel that from the characters as well with how their relationship evolved over the course of the episode. This almost felt like one season worth of development in 25 minutes if that makes sense. Not in a bad sense, but the episode had a clear beginning middle and end and told a nice prologue esque story.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the similarities to this and Sorayori/ A place further than the universe. It’s clear the staff took some inspiration from that lovely series which I couldn’t be happier about since it’s amazing. The use of establishing shots, introspective monologue and clever use of motion just makes this show feel so lively.

It honestly feels like those anime music videos to songs like a “Colors” by Sawano or Shelter by Porter Robinson. I hope this isn’t just for the premiere and that the quality stays the same throughout. There’s people from SHAFT, Cloverworks and even trigger I saw listed in the credits so the talent is certainly there.

“If I’m around you, maybe I’ll be able to shine too” 😮‍💨 that last 4 minutes or so with Kano’s performance and the running scene was just special. If they keep this up, we got an all timer on our hands. Can’t wait to see where their relationship goes.

“There’s no such thing as someone who shouldn’t fall in love” heard good things about this one coming into it and decent first episode. It’s definitely a very shoujo ass shoujo with the female wish fulfilment concept of a plain shy girl meeting a hot stud and him pursuing her.. you have to suspend disbelief for a bit to enjoy this one. But it’s cute for sure.

It was a little hard to get into at first just because of how aggressive Hananoi was despite just meeting the female lead, and coming off a breakup?? I mean damn, bro didn’t even heal up from his last relationship and already jumping into a new one. Hopefully the story will touch on things like that and how that can lead affect the overall relationship. If you’re not healed from a past trauma, you’re just going to bring that into the next relationship.

Kinda wish the MC had kept his long hair too, that would’ve been unique for a shoujo romance 😢

Don’t think it’ll be as good as Yubiren or Yamada999, but I’m just happy we’re getting more and more shoujo adapted. Still nowhere near the shonen and isekai stuff, but it’s getting better.

PEAAAAAK incest is back let’s gooo. What a fucking first episode. 8bit upped their game tremendously. Better animation, better art, better direction. Not sure if it’s the same team or what, but this felt as good if not better than season 1 under madhouse. Plus LiSA back on the op 😮‍💨😮‍💨 real anime is here.

Nice mix of world building and set up for this arc, while also giving us some of that good old mahouka harem and brocon goodness that we love. The new first years seem interesting, especially this Shippou fella. That ice stare Miyuki gave him when he started disrespecting Tatsuya had me dying. Bro saw his life flash before him 😂

Always good seeing Mayumi, was worried that after she graduated we wouldn’t see her as much, but with her little sisters at school she’s still very much part of the story. She and Tatsuya always have such fun scenes full of misunderstandings and their little flirting scene at the entrance ceremony was great. Tatsuya was cooking her unintentionally lol

Her sisters are a riot too, especially izumi. She took one look at Miyuki and fell in love, don’t blame her at all. Asking Miyuki to be her big sister in front of her actual big sister is crazy though lmao

Yor and Yami are here too! Crazy entrance, that animation on the boat scene was insane. If they’re gonna give us that consistently during this arc which is already peak story wise.. we’re really gonna eat.

Can’t wait to see where this season goes and it’s so good to be back.
