cool hot sweet love - the velvet i feel like this is the kind of song that makes me feel so relaxed. the way all of their voices blend together is so addicting. it's like their harmonizing but im 50% sure they arent. love this song

sunny afternoon - russian roulette it's the same thing that i said above. their voices blend together in the chorus so well because of their different tones. SM is so lucky to have red velvet cuz their voices are out of the world.

happily ever after - rookie people don't talk about this song enough. its so addicting. wendy's adlibs make it even better. the song is cute and it's so cheerful and it's just really beautiful. one of my fav rv songs

hear the sea - the red summer i feel like this song is so calming and refreshing. it's almost like an entirely different vibe from the album. it's like drinking a cup of water after eating a hearty meal.

kingdom come - the perfect velvet + the perfect red velvet red velvet repackage albums make me cry sometimes tbh BUT kingdom come is the best thing that came out of this. this song is slept on. their vocal tones make the song sound even better.

blue lemonade - summer magic tbh i dont' have much to say on this song other than IT'S SO GOOD. summer magic is such a good summer album i would highly reccomend listening to this when it's hot out

rbb - RBB this is one of the few red velvet albums where im like the tt is better than the b sides (cuz red velvet are b side queens). rbb is just THAT song. i love it so much (for b side sassy me is my fav)

milkshake - the reve festival day 1 milkshake is one of those really surprisngly fun songs cuz it sounds almost minor (idk if it is my music theory is a little shabby rn), but the song and the way it's written is super fun. super cool

ladies night - the reve festival day 2 i had a horrible time choosing between ladies night and love is the way but i decided on ladies night. once again im a sucker for city pop like influences in songs and ladies night just fulfills that. (i adore love is the way though)

in & out - the reve festival finale i love this repackage album tbh. i listen to this before debate tourneys so i don't cry. in and out is just amazing. idk how to express why exactly i love it but i do

pushin & pullin - queendom i think i follow the person who produced this song on tiktok? but they produced it wonderfully. it fits the timbres and the tones of the rv girls so well. i enjoy this song so much

bamboleo - the reve festival 2022 in terms of general music theory and production feel my rhythm would take the cake BUT i can make a post about that another time (lemme know if you want it). however, AGAIN city pop is my thing and any song with city pop influences so bamboleo is literally amazing

Unpopular Kpop Opinions

Yeah, I know, this trend is so dead it’s not even funny anymore, but I still wanted to say my piece, so here we go (obv I have more than like 12 opinions but)

Y’all know the drill. I’m not trying to offend anyone, these are just my personal opinions, if you’re offended, either move on or debate like a civilized person, don’t waste anybody’s time with nasty hate :)

1. Blackpink is the most processed group out there Rn. Don’t get me wrong, I love the girls and I’m not saying that they have horrible personalities or are actually ugly or anything like that, it’s just that it’s so obvious that nothing they show is real, way more than other groups, where it’s just a general feel. It’s like every little detail with Blackpink has been micromanaged. All of their aegyo is scripted, everything they say is scripted, all of their outfits are done by a stylist (even the airport fashion everyone goes crazy for). I definitely have a feeling that their personal instagrams are highly manufactured as well. I feel like YG truly treats them like Barbie dolls. It just seems to be on a whole different level from the norm

2. I get bad vibes from Chanyeol. Honestly at this point he’s my least fav EXO member. I really feel like he was made an idol because of his looks )which is difficult for me cause he’s not even that attractive to me?) He’s pretty good at rapping the lines he’s given, but he’s not a rapper. I’ve never cringed more in my life than when I watched his Unpretty Rap Star performance with subtitles. WTF??? Rapping aside, he comes off as so extremely arrogant, and honestly really fake. Ik almost idols put up a front for the fans and I totally get that, and most of them are great people beneath that persona, but that’s just not the vibe I get from Chanyeol. And then there’s the continued racism/sexism...

3. I don’t like Gfriend. Sunny Summer is a bop, don’t get me wrong, but I just haven’t been able to get into the group. I think my problem was that the first thing I ever saw was a clip of Yerin on a variety show, and literally all she did was brag about how her fans say she looks like an anime character and how small her face is and how terribly difficult their choreography is, and it really just gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Since then, I’ve seen ugh things from other members, like bad attitudes and stuff. The only member I can like is Umji, I feel so protective of the girl because she gets such a hard time (even from her members like wtf)

4. I don’t get why people are shocked at Baam being the same as Boom Boom. Obviously Momoland’s company is going to try and recreate the group’s success with a similar song, and in the interest of honesty, I wasn’t crazy about Boom Boom, and think Baam is way catchier. So in my opinion, it’s like they upgraded, though I do hope they try something different for their next comeback so they don’t totally flop.

5. Jennie is the obvious favorite (of YG) in Blackpink. This has been clear to me ever since I first came across Blackpink, and tbh, the more I see from them, the more it pisses me off. I’m not hating on Jennie it’s not her fault. I just really hope that it doesn’t tear the group apart. Anybody would be affected by that sort of thing after awhile and if YG doesn’t get his shit together his most popular group Rn is going to wither.

• Ex.: Why is Jennie the one getting preferential treatment w fashion?? Everyone says Jennie is the one who gets all this stuff because she’s the most “fashion adjacent” in the group, but she’s that way because YG made her that way. It’s the company putting her forward the most. She got a Chanel contract way before any of the other members got to do anything on their own w fashion. Now she’s doing solo sponsorships and solo magazine shoots. Jisoo is the one who deserves this. She’s the group’s visual, and she gets screwed over all the time with line distribution. If she got the fashion stuff, I could see it as fair, but no, she doesn’t get lines or solo promotions

6. I get really cold vibes from Taeyong. This one’s pretty short, all I have to say is that I feel like he’s not very genuine.

7. I hate it when people blame Taeyeon or Jessica for what happened with SNSD. I don’t think the guilt should fall totally on one girl. I think they’re both guilty. Everything I’ve ever seen with SNSD has made me feel that something happened between them that caused a lot of issues. It could be a battle for popularity, it could be jealousy. I just think when people point out that there was obv tension between them, the fault shouldn’t go to one girl. In my opinion, they’re both divas, so shit was bound to happen.

8. I don’t like Krystal’s attitude. So a lot of people defend Krystal by saying that she only gets shit for her attitude because she’s female, which is true. But where I disagree is when people say it’s okay. It’s not okay for Krystal to do it (and tbh I get cold vibes from her sister too) nor is it okay for male idols to do it. Like you know exactly what you signed up for, you’re so privileged to be where you are, and you’re just going to pout the whole time?? I just don’t have sympathy

9. I feel like BTS are fake woke. I’m not commenting on actual political views within the group, I just feel like they’re putting on a display (like making a big show of it) and stretching this to appeal to westerners. Like I applaud what they’ve done for mental health, but they don’t speak up about the Wild bulllying going on within their own fandom, and there are so many issues they could stand up for in Korea, but instead they’re going to bring up MLK? It just doesn’t quite feel okay to me, idk

10. I don’t think Ikon should’ve been a seven member group. I’m an ikon fan and I love all of the members, I really do, but I feel like seven is so unnesscary, and I have this feeling that like YG threw in extra members just to follow the trend of the really big groups. Having a bigger group like that really breaks from YG’s usual pattern, and I feel like it fits with his newer trend of being a follower, not a setter, which is just a whole other topic to discuss. But no, I definitely feel that Hanbin, Bobby, Junhoe, and Jinhwan are the ones who truly add to the group. I love my other three boys to bits and believe all seven should be idols, but there should’ve been some other arrangement.

11. EXO needs to stop fucking with Suho. I’ve seen so many videos of them making fun of him and ignoring him and honestly it pisses me the fuck off, especially since Suho never does this in return. I’m sure there are plenty of videos and photos of them loving him too, and I’ve seen them, but in general, I feel like there’s a lack of respect towards their leader.

•AND DONT EVEN GET ME STRTED ON FUCKBOY CHANYEOL MAKING FUN OF SUHO SAYING HIS VERSION OF EXODUS WOUODNT SELL CAUSE I STG IF I WAS THERE I WOULDVE LOST MY FUCKING MIND

12. Xiumin is underrated. I don’t think it’s as bad now, because he has been promoting for EXO-CBX and that gave him some really good opportunities to shine and everything, but still, Minseok is talented, good looking, and doesn’t keep saying shitty racist things to Kai like some other people who I won’t mention.

i can’t really sing tbh i sound like an animal being strangled but i like to sometimes pretend im the fifth member of little mix when i sing their songs i also rap along to rap songs too which i find much easier than hitting those high notes sorry im no mariah.

PINK!!! (every shade except that horrible bright magenta colour) i also like red, blue, purple and yellow!! and black ofc.

hearts and flowers!! always, sometimes i doodle words in a fancy style too.

i like my coffee milky and with 2 sugars and as for tea i like i milk in it but not too much i hate milky tea os i like to have a good colour to it, but again i take that with 2 sugars. if i drink fruit/herbal teas i just have sugar with that.

favourite candle scent? 

im a highkey candle hoarder and i have so many nice smelling ones. i like salted caramel, mulberry, cherry, vanilla, coffee, coconut and i have a carribean tropical scented one which smells so damn good it smells like a pina colada.

sunrise or sunset? 

sunset for sure i love the range of colours the sky goes before the sun set especially in the summer 

what perfume do you wear?

i have so many different ones that i wear, i wear a mango and papaya body spritzer that i use, i use my victoria’s secret perfumes which all smell nice, i have a lovely molton brown perfume (its only a tester waah) and on special occasions i wear my dolce & gabbana perfume. i have so many other ones away in my cupboard i have strawberry scented ones as well i need to get more for christmas.

damn i dont really dance alone but i like to try and perfect my body rolls, i like to wave my arms around too haha im a bad dancer, i never used to be though.

look after your skin!!! moisturise, exfoliate, cleanse, tone her!!! she will thank you!! honestly my skin used to be so rough and dry until i started moisturising daily and using a facemask weekly and let me tell you it worked so much now the skin on my face is so soft!! 

also i think it’s good to get out every once in a while and get some air, i don’t think it’s good to be cooped up inside all the time it gets bad for your health and you don’t have to be out all day just a few hours can dramatically change your mood, and you dont have to be out every day either its nice to just go out every once in a while it will be beneficial trust me. 

positive reinforcement! tell yourself you look good, even if you don’t mean it and it doesn’t have to be about your body or your face you can look at yourself in the mirror and go “wow i really like this outfit on me” or “that is a look” and it will make you feel better and any compliment you can give yourself will be rewarding no matter how small it is or how “stupid” you find it just go in the mirror and be like “im the shit” and after a while you will fuckin believe it.

-  I’d say so. It’s just that my family’s not very affectionate nor expressive with their feelings

im kind of confused by always sunny like what is it actually about? like some of the things in it make me rly uncomfortable like the whole thing with carmen and mac's homophobia and the casual racism nd stuff in it nd i just dont kno how im supposed to react to it like am i supposed to love it and find it funny or hate it and the characters or? idk nd ive been on the iasip reddit as well and its a lot different from what ive seen the fandom on here talk abt tbh? idk

this is a really good question! and one that i had myself before i started the show. unfortunately it’s not something i can answer very briefly so please bear with me. i’m just gonna throw out the facts and things as i see them and then you can draw your own conclusions on how to feel about the show; i will readily admit that it has more than its share of legitimate issues and that the show just isn’t for everyone.

so the basic premise of the show is that four self-centered assholes (joined by a fifth self-centered asshole in season 2) own a shitty irish bar in south philadelphia. they never actually RUN the bar, though, because they’re too busy trying to run get-rich-quick schemes or because they’re doing other stupid things.

if you ask the writers, they will say that there IS no premise; it’s just a show about these horrible characters living out their sad, pathetic lives.

the truth is somewhere in the middle-- the show is one third social/political satire, one third nihilist comedy, and one third character-driven tragedy.

i DON’T blame you for being concerned about the transmisogyny, mac’s internalized homophobia, the racism, and everything else-- the show is meant to be a satire, but the early seasons aren’t very good about making that clear, so it really comes off SUPER cringe-worthy. most people actually recommend to new viewers that they skip season 1 entirely and only come back to it later if they really like the show. in later seasons the writers get better about handling SOME of the more sensitive topics they discuss (their record with race is STILL really fucking spotty though, as is their treatment of carmen.)

the characters are intended to be horrible people; you aren’t supposed to support their beliefs or want them to succeed. the writers are VERY clear about this-- every time you see the characters say or do something racist, or sexist, or homophobic, or generally Bad, it ALWAYS ends up coming back to bite them in the ass. not once are they rewarded for their behavior; more often than not, they’re actively punished for it. some of the enjoyment of the show is meant to be schadenfreude; we’re SUPPOSED to like watching how miserable and awful these characters are.

(this is where reddit fandom gets lost-- they don’t realize that the show is satire/political commentary, and think that the show and the writers actually SUPPORT being the biggest, most conservative, backwards asshole you possibly can be.)

the writers themselves don’t condone any of the characters’ beliefs or actions. rob mcelhenney (who created the show and plays mac) was partially raised by two lesbian moms growing up, and his brother is gay as well. glenn howerton (dennis) is also very vocally adamant about lgbtq issues, ESPECIALLY trans rights and bathroom bills. he even chose to name his character dennis instead of some variation on his real name because he didn’t want people thinking he was ANYTHING like his character. admittedly charlie day (who plays... charlie) has been to known to say some really stupid shit before and is probably the least politically aware of the three of them, but i think he means well and is just ill-informed?

anyways, the reason tumblr sunny fandom is so different from reddit sunny fandom is bc the tumblr demographic is, for the most part, lgbtq+, mentally ill millennials. and sunny actually has a lot for that sort of person to read into.

the characters are all such shitty people in part, it turns out, because they’ve all had horrific childhoods. charlie survived an attempted abortion before he was even born, and grew up living with his alcoholic mother who worked as a prostitute to take care of him. he was abused by his uncle, which left him so traumatized that he still has flashbacks and nightmares about it as an adult and is functionally asexual. due to what is likely a mix of severe dyslexia and ADHD that went untreated all his life, charlie can’t read. mac grew up being neglected by both of his parents and has abandonment issues because his dad was taken to prison when he was only ten or so. he grew up devoutly catholic, which led to a lot of internalized homophobia and self-hatred as, throughout the show, it becomes clear that mac is gay himself. dee and dennis, twins, were raised in a mansion, with a lot of money but no love. their parents, frank and barbara, openly argued and hated each other in front of them, and barbara treated dennis like a trophy while she absolutely DESPISED dee. this led to dennis developing a superiority/god complex, an eating disorder, and, we find out in season 10, borderline personality disorder. conversely, dee became consumed by self-esteem and inferiority issues, as well as a very aggressive personality; she’s always ready to attack someone because she grew up having to defend her own existence to her mother. frank (dee and dennis’ dad, who joins the group in s2) was institutionalized as a child, presumably against his will. in the book, we find out that his dad used to physically and emotionally abuse him, too.

ALL of them are mentally ill, and a good chunk of them are lgbtq, as well-- in addition to mac and charlie, dennis is STRONGLY coded as bisexual within the show. what’s more, the writers have outright stated several times that the entire group is bisexual, “except for mac, who’s straight-up gay.” (i’m not sure that frank was included in this statement, however-- frank remains pretty grossly ignorant and homophobic throughout the show, and never does anything that struck me as being Not Straight.)

none of these reasons are ever used to EXCUSE what the characters do, only to explain why they think and act the way they do. it’s these tragic backstories that make the characters human and, on some level, relatable, likable, or at least sympathetic. seeing the sort of people that hang out on tumblr, it makes sense that we would gravitate to different parts of the show than the reddit fans do.

so, how should you react to the show? that’s up to you. we’re not meant to celebrate or support these characters’ actions or beliefs, but it can sometimes be hard not to care about them even a little, knowing why they’re such sad, broken people. at different times, the show can be funny on an innocuous level (charlie’s dating profile is a good example of the show’s sense of humor when it isn’t being political), it can be funny the way a good political satire can be funny, or it can completely miss the mark and become REALLY, really unfortunate. after 12 years, there’s several examples of each scenario.
