i am so so sorry for the sheer amount of headcanons i'm making you crank out, HOWEVER... i am so curious as to if you have any headcanons for nina and natalie as a duo. i love the way you perceive them and write them it genuinely makes me so happy

i had to doodle them . ok. lets go..

nat was one of the first people nina met from jeff, since she and jeff lived in the barn together.

nina thought nat was a lesbian when they first met . that is literally the only reason why she wasnt mad jeff was living with a woman.

although nina was like, one of the ONLY people to notice toby/nat tension and was sooo heartbroken when she realized they were never getting together..... but then was relieved they didnt get together when she got over jeff because 'well i can't be the only single one!'

again, natalie grew up with 0 girl friends, only hung out with her brother and boys. even after meeting the creeps, theyre still mostly guys. so she's just kinda really awkward and weird around girls. not in a like, 'oh girls r so annoying' way but like... she just doesnt know how to fit in. she just feels so different in the worst possible way and always has.

and nina is very girly, outgoing, touchy, friendly, cute, etc. so it was very like UMMM?!? idk. natalie kept snapping at her, assuming she was fake and weird and just trying to get something from nat, but nina was so persistent and just. friendly. it started making natalie feel warm.

nina's presence started to heal natalies inner little girl. she had it stolen from her time and time again, from her dad, her brother, her peers - the operator, too.

so the two are eventually actual friends. they'll text and play mobile phone games together. sometimes they'll just sit on call and nina will be talking her head off while nat does her own thing at home. one time nat was at tobys cabin and nina was talking about toby on speaker and toby walked in and was like 'hey nina' .... nina almost threw up she was so embarrassed.

nina loves visiting nats bar because everyone is always talking to nina and giving her attention and buying her drinks, and at first nat was irritated but it kinda got nat some better tips since the customers started realizing ninas her friend. so nat was pleased. LOL

nat was never the type to go shopping, but she'll follow nina around and sit while nina tries on clothes and carry around all her bags that she buys LOL... ninas made jokes about nat being boyfriend material and nat just flatout says smth about how nina should get over jeff cuz he would never.

nat is friends with jeff but she's oddly comfortable just telling nina that he's a piece of shit. and ninas always like NOOO U DONT GET IT U DONT SEE WHAT I DO and nats always just .. not... impressed..

nina's always inviting nat out to try new foods. nat grew up just eating bread and noodles with butter half the time so it's fun. nina always tries to pay bc 'well i invited you!!!'. sometimes toby tags along but he feels a way abt going in public places..

nina rarely visits jack cuz she has no reason to, but nat is friends with him so sometimes nina pops in and she's always like ^_^ HELLO TALL MYSTERIOUS SLIGHTLY MONSTEROUS MAN... <3... nat smacks the back of her head cuz she's being dumb and drooling over a bunch of rando freaks. ... . ok i love nina and she owes jeff nothing but she is def not loyal LOLLLL AND SHE HAS THE RIGHT TO FAWN OVER EVERYONE she's a fangirl at heart.

they watch a ton of shows together. nina got nat into horror kdrama stuff, but they have to watch in dub cuz nat cant read the subtitles fast enough . . . at first nina cringed but now she doesnt care.

nat's painted/drawn nina several times, and nina almost cries everytime. she's put the drawings up on her wall before but anytime nat's at her apartment, she takes it down bc 'i dont want my art on ur wall stop it' LOL... kinda rude but whatevs.

To all the artists that might see this, if youre feeling guilty for drawing a character you love drawing getting rekt to pieces or in other scenarios. Dont be. i think i need to sit down bc now that this info is released i’ve seen people surprised over ages for characters like ashe and it makes me think these people dont know what a 30-40yr old without the stress of kids looks like

It's funny because even with kids someone who is 40 can still "look 30", using my own mother as an example, people often thinks she's younger then she is because she's incredibly athletic and genuinely takes time to take care of herself. So whenever I see people say "oh the only people who "look their age" are Ana, Jack, Reinhardt and Torbjourn", yeah, the reason they look old is because they are always stressed.

Did you see the shit Jack had to deal with? Of course that man looks old.

Ashe as a character is someone who would know what self care is, she's also constantly active and doesn't have a lot of thing causing her constant stress. Most of the OW cast are characters who are constantly active and actively need to look after themselves or they will die on the battle field.

Honestly I'm more surprised that Cassidy doesn't look older than he is but even then he does have wrinkles in the Reunion cinematic and he is the type of person to remove grey hairs when he sees them.

It always annoyed me in season 3 maya was the one to apologise to jack like for what? She has every right to break up with him if she didnt want to be with him anymore and he was the one who treated her like crap after because he was bitter. And in the cheating situation she literally asked him to leave but he didnt he just kept winding her up and even mentioned carina then proceeded to sleep with her. I fucking hate him I dont care

That annoyed me too because sure, on one hand I understand them wanting to have Maya apologize for the way she went about dumping Jack because they had the narrative be that she was mainly dumping him just for her career and it felt out of nowhere (but so was their relationship to begin with honestly) but the idea that they would've lasted even if she wasn't dumping him to become captain? Please. They were never going to last long term regardless so that was just ridiculous to begin with. But why does Maya have to apologize and Jack doesn't? Jack treated her like shit and was a bitter baby for being broken up with. Just like it's not Jack's fault that he felt more for her than she did for him, it's not Maya's fault either but that doesn't give him a right to treat her like crap because of it. And then when you add the cheating thing onto it, it takes two people to cheat and he knew damn well she was in a relationship, bringing up Carina like you said, and still willingly slept with her and took part in that. He owed Maya an apology and Carina an apology but no, because these writers love to have their men play victim when they do something wrong only to play hero at a later date to make up for it, it was just Maya who was the bad guy and they ended up brushing over the whole cheating thing anyway. So stupid.

It's just confusing to me why Marina fans would like him, even separate from their storyline because the way he's treated Maya in the past and the way he never apologized to Carina for his actions and just the way he acts...I just don't see the appeal and people fall for his victim/golden boy hero act that the writers continue to do with him and it's wild.

Oh, man. How I wish. Trust me when I say EVERYONE starts off with this mindset, everyone comes in here with shields and armor (which is fucked out to have to do in the first place but that’s tumblr) and a headstrong determination to do what you want and ignore the haters. That mindset can last A WHILE, but it does cave, you lose the shield and armor piece by piece and eventually you just stop caring for it, it’s not worth your mental and emotional heath. It goes far beyond anon hate, and unfortunately I suspect you’ll discover that the longer you’re here. It’s pretty sucky as reader, but it’s pretty fucking garbage as a writer, because you see more, are exposed to more and are also more exposed, yourself. It’s like chalk art, you spend all your time crafting beautiful art and someone comes along, intentionally scuffs as much of it away or washes it away. It sucks when you yourself have to wash it away, pick up your supplies and leave the area.

I really hope your experience as a writer, in particular, is better though. I truly hope you can prosper here.

its a strange phenomenon, when misery loves company, it is always so strange to me to find people who actively wish you unwell, and will poke holes in anything great and wonderful happening or developing for you.

sometimes people are suffering so much in ways unknown and they cannot see the light you are seeing and sometimes you have to stop pushing it onto them for YOUR benefit; so you may keep it burning brightly for the ones who can see it. sometimes people just arent THERE yet and you need to guard your happiness.

maybe my own view is fucked and warped because i have been clawing my way to happiness since birth in a family where both sides have kicked me when im down and then also kicks the living shit out of me whenever i have climbed my way back on top, and so i learned all the ways to guard my happiness.

in my life i have seen, felt, and witnessed this society hates actual success stories. the people who hate to see anyone do better for themselves are people who cant do jack shit to help themselves, and i can understand why.

it is so much easier and takes less effort to bitch and moan and point out flaws but god damn is it so fucking hard to be optimistic, to be positive, and to uplift. if youre ever in a place where you feel like youre fighting tooth and nail against negativity, guard your happiness. you do not owe anyone anything, and you dont even need to dim your light. all it takes is a smile and knowing your own truths.

indifference is power in these situations, because if you arent safeguarding your happiness the haters think youre just trying to compete, and believe me baby this aint even a competition you want to engage in. there isnt one to begin with... but they cant see it that way and thats why you must guard your happiness sometimes.

"If you say that one more time, I swear." Meggie breathes. Twice. Closes her eyes and counts up to five before, "I don't know what the hell you and Dustfinger mean when you say that, but I can't hear sh--"

"Hey, language, kid."

Meggie looks away from the apology written all over Farid's face. Dustfinger is walking up to them, the usual black and torn clothing making him stand out against the greenery.

"That's something a decent dad would say, right?" He grins and Meggie deflates, glad he's the one that caught her misbehavior and not Mo.

They're at Elinor's for a long weekend. Farid has been trying to teach her a couple tricks ("The safe stuff first, that's what Dustfinger said!"), but she can't seem to get past step 1: listen to the fire.

"I don't know how to help her," Farid says, flopping down onto the grass, defeated.

"It's alright." Dustfinger messes the boy's hair and Meggie can't help but chuckle. "Remember how long it took you? Here, gimme the backpack. Let me."

He pulls out some bottles and torches from the backpack while Meggie watches closely.

"This," Dustfinger holds out one of the bottles, "is fuel for lighting up the torches." He does just that, soaking the fabric at the end of a torch with the liquid. Then, he holds out the other bottle, "and this one is for blowing. But you should train with water first. This thing is flammable."

Farid jumps up, "Here."

He passes a water bottle to her, the one they'd brought out "in case of emergency". At this point Meggie is buzzing with excitement; part of her afraid, terrified, still traumatized by what happened the last time; the other half eager to learn and from Dustfinger himself.

"Do this with your mouth," he says and puts his lips together, leaving a small opening. "You have to try and create an even spray."

"Back home I never needed these tools," Dustfinger recalls. This is their third lesson. They're back home, practicing at the plaza, a small group of people are watching and Meggie pretty much knows how to create an even spray. "But this is how they do it here, in your world. It's clever. Entirely a different skill. Here, I'll hold the torch and you blow. Remember: even spray..."

"Was it terrible?" They're having gelato to wash off the bad flavor after a lesson. Meggie is very confident in her even spray now and sometimes... Dustfinger breathes around a spoon of lemon flavor. The shadow of a smile graces his lips and his eyes fall to his hands, avoiding Meggie almost on purpose. "It was hard... This world can be scary. Big. Different. But it was hard for you two, too, wasn't it? Just in a different way."

Meggie shrugs, feeling like she just might admit something she's never admitted to anyone. Something that maybe shouldn't be said out loud, but she feels safe saying it to Dustfinger.

"I guess," she pauses. Mo would be hurt by her words... Or would he feel relief? "Things didn't change much to me. I barely remembered her most my life. I was... Young enough to forget."

Suddenly Dustfinger's hand is at her shoulder, just for a brief moment. She looks at him and he smiles sympathetically; it's an emotion she never expected to get from Dustfinger, the selfish fire-eater, the guy that sold them to Capricorn.

But this isn't the same guy. This is Dustfinger, the brave fire-eater, her dad's boyfriend. Her other dad.

"I think," he starts again after a moment, "you should perform with Farid and I next time..."

Using they/them pronouns for a specific regeneration of the Doctor is misgendering them. Just because you think they/them pronouns are more 'progressive' or are somehow necessary to make them more genderqueer or something doesn't make those the pronouns they use and nonbinary people can use he/him and she/her pronouns, its actually more transphobic to use they/them for a character who doesn't, even if they are just a fictional character.

listen i really appreciate that you feel strongly enough about what i do with my time on the internet to send me, a nonbinary + trans + genderqueer person, this ask, but the doctor is not written as trans. the doctor is written as weird, and eccentric, by cis people, and i have chosen to interpret them as trans because i relate to them. the doctor is not human and, more importantly, not real.

so my question for YOU is this: i once read a fic — written by a trans man for self-fulfillment, of course — that portrayed rose tyler as a trans man, and used he/him pronouns, and called him ryan, and are you going to find the author of that fic and send this ask to them? because it's not productive to claim that someone who is HEADCANONING A CHARACTER AS THE SAME FLAVOR OF NOT CIS AS THEY ARE is being transphobic. it's not. it's really, really not.

the doctor is not written as a trans man (or cis man!) who exclusively uses he/him pronouns, and nor are they written as a trans woman (again, or cis woman) who exclusively uses she/her pronouns. they're not. they are, largely, written by cis people, and not cis people who would think of them as trans (in the TV show). YES, it WOULD probably be transphobic if i continued to refer to them with they/them if any of that were canon. but to my knowledge, the doctor has not come out and said in ANY piece of media that they ONLY use x set of pronouns.

and what would you say if in the TV show, the doctor canonically spoke with people in a language that had no "gendered" pronouns? are you going to fucking go after the writers for canonizing a character referring to the doctor with pronouns that aren't the english "he" or "she"? because across languages, whether it's context or whatever, pronouns change! there's not an english equivalent to everything, and not everything in english has a perfect equivalent in every other language!
