Headcanon: Husk and Angel knew each other as kids.
Let me explain. Husk died in the 1970s when he was in his 60s. Angel went in the 40s when he was in his thirties. SO. They were both born circa 1910. I will fight you on this, they knew each other.

sits down at the jeanharry table with my lunch tray. so like here’s how i see it. kinda iffy on whether it’d ever work out after martinaise but before martinaise there is Something going on. they’re not GOOD for each other (in fact harry actively ends up making jean worse but jean was already bad so it’s not like he was innocent) but at the same time they are extremely crucial in supporting each other since neither of them really are close to anyone else which is how it spirals into codependency so fast. yes they frequently fight and rip each other to shreds etc but also they are always hanging out and sometimes they genuinely are just having a good time with each other. and it’s definitely Something that goes beyond simple friendship, but harry definitely holds a lot of internalized homophobia & toxic masculinity and i’m 100% sure that jean does too, so like. the only way that their Arrangement works is if they don’t put a name to it. they KNOW that what they have is more than just two guys being dudes but they just call themselves friends (or partners in the context of work) and it works out fine as long as they both stick to that and refuse to put any more thought to it. yes they do things together that would definitely be considered dates if they were a het couple but they’re NOT a couple and they’re NOT dates because they are two MEN being DUDES. don’t you know harry dated a woman once? he’s STRAIGHT. they’re HETEROSEXUAL LIFE PARTNERS. the feminists hate to see two manly men supporting each other in today’s world. if they support each other by going home and fucking drunk that’s literally none of your business. you will never understand a warrior’s bond.

Howleen's redesign in gen 1 makes me so angry for a whole plethora of reasons, but one that bothers me that I haven't seen anyone talk about is how they made her look like every other character. Like they really made her one of 50 characters with bangs and straight hair. Howleen's whole thing was having a quirky fashion sense and trying to find her own style. Yes, she wanted to feel accepted by her peers, but she also wanted to stand out and not just be known as "Clawdeen and Clawd's little sister"
The reasoning behind Howleen's redesign is steeped in racism and sexism and completely erased huge aspects of her character. In her bio she states that she changes hair colors every week, meanwhile every doll besides her Campus Stroll doll has pink hair. And compared to her first doll, her fashion throughout the rest of the series was so tame.
Something else that really messes me up about it, is that her redesign could have acted as a pivotal moment for her character growth. Perhaps at some point she gets sick of trying to stand out, and does a complete 180 and starts to dress like the rest of the peers. Maybe she does find success in that her classmates are nicer to her, but she becomes unhappy from not being herself and acting a certain way to please others. And then it's up to her real friends and family to encourage her to be herself again. We rarely got to see the Wolf siblings bond, and this could have been such a great opportunity for it.
Anyway, to sum up my thoughts, Howleen's character was full of wasted potential, and I think she could have been a super relatable character to so many kids, especially those who don't fit into any boxes. The fact that Mattel forced her into one is absolutely tragic.

rewatching the fourth episode "Happy Progress Day" and realizing that it was Ekko under that Firelight owl mask is just,,, holy shit.
Ekko was the one who screamed "No!" when Jinx shot that pink-haired girl she mistook for Vi.
Did that pink-haired girl remind Ekko of Vi, too? Maybe that's why he liked her. Vi was dead and gone, but here's this girl with the same rosy-hued hair, the same heart and grit as Vi, willing to fight alongside him against Silco and Jinx for taking away his family. For taking Vi away. For taking Powder away.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah self-shipping and oc-insert shipping are valid and all but I don't think enough people realize the joy and the sheer untapped potential in pitting your OCs against your fictional blorbos and both of them immediately deciding the other's vibes are rancid
