⭑*•̩̩͙⊱••••✩••••̩̩͙⊰•*⭑
Remus Lupin often found himself pondering what he had done to receive a cruel fate. What had he been thinking when he fell for Y/N Y/L/N, the girl that brightly lit up every room she entered. The girl who was not only smart but kind and modest too, the girl who excelled in her lessons with hard work and perseverance. The girl that was so beautiful, she was a walking masterpiece.
They could not be more different. While Y/N spoke to almost everyone, had friends in every house, Remus could only call seven Gryffindors his friends.
Remus cowered in fear; made himself look much smaller than he is to hide away from the rest of the world. But Y/N Y/L/N; Y/N would walk around with her head held up high, wearing the scar that stretched from the beginning of her right eyebrow, down across her nose and cheek and to her left jaw proudly. Remus had always noticed her around, she was good friends with Lily but she had never interacted with any of the Marauders. Well not unless you count the times she'd tell them to be quiet when they were causing a ruckus during class.
Remus had spoken to Y/N once, on a complete accidental note. He’d heard her complaining to her friends about how she was nervous about the upcoming Potions assignment as they waited for Professor McGonagall to allow them into her classroom. He had blurted it out thoughtlessly like a complete and utter fool.
“I could tutor you!”
His eyes had widened, his face flushing as she turned around with a confused look on her face, wondering who’d spoken. When her Y/E/C eyes fell on his blushing face she’d smiled softly.
“Really?” she had asked with a hopeful glint in her eyes.
Remus’ hair had flopped everywhere as he had nodded vigorously, stuttering out a quiet yes. Her friends had giggled at his flustered behaviour causing his scarlet face to redden further. But Y/N, Y/N had taken no note of his embarrassing behaviour and thanked him for his offer saying she would talk to him soon. The hope in his chest had blossomed like a sunflower under the spring sun.
But that had been a week ago and Remus had not yet held one conversation with her. He’d often witnessed her walking around the corridors with her friends who seemed to always start giggling when he passed by them, probably laughing about their previous encounter, one he believed he had completely humiliated himself in. The only interaction Remus had with Y/N in the past week was the smiles they shared whenever they saw each other and so, his hope dwindled.
“Why don’t you just ask her out, Moony?”
Remus snapped out of his daydream at the sound of James’s voice. He blushed as Y/N sent him a smile, realizing he’d been caught staring. Sending a shy smile back he looked away.
He slammed his head against the wooden table groaning, “Kill me. Just kill me, Prongs.”
“I thought Padfoot was supposed to be the dramatic one,” Peter commented.
Remus lifted his head to send his friend a glare as Sirius exclaimed in protest.
“Why don’t you just ask her out?” Lily asked kindly.
Remus leaned against his arm, the heel of his palm tucked under his chin as his hazel eyes drifted back to the girl sitting on the Hufflepuff table.
“She’s just so beautiful, intelligent, kind and I’m just… me.”
He sighed, placing his hands on his laps and playing with them, his blond hair falling onto his forehead brushing against his eyelashes whenever he blinked. All his friends frowned at his insecure thoughts, they hated the way he saw himself. They desperately wished that their friend could see the way they saw him, the way everyone saw him, but himself.
“That’s not true-”
“Hello, Remus.”
Remus' head snapped up at the sound of the sweet voice, the voice that sounded like tiny bells chiming in the wind to his ears.
“Hi- hi. Hello Y/N.”
Y/N giggled slightly at his stuttering but in a manner that didn’t make him feel like she was laughing at him.
“I was wondering if it would be alright if we met up at the library today?”
Remus let out a sound, flabbergasted. Y/N’s eyes widened, quickly proceeding to justify her request.
“I mean you said you’d help me with the upcoming Potions assignment! I thought I would take you up on the offer,” she said in a hurry.
Remus stared at her in disbelief. Only when a sharp pain shot through his shin did he open his mouth.
“Oh um. Yes. Alright. Of course. Today. Library. Potions. No problem. Okay. Yes.”
Y/N relaxed, smiling at him gratefully.
“Thank you!” she said, bouncing slightly in place, “Is after classes alright?”
Remus mutely nodded, dumbfounded, his mind still processing what was happening.
“Great. See you then!” Y/N said before heading back to her group of friends who were watching the entire scene play out at the Hufflepuff table, walking with a newfound skip in her steps.
“You are pathetic,” said Sirius as he watched his friend slam his head back onto the table.
It would surely leave a mark based on how loud the smack sound was.
He had once again humiliated himself in front of Y/N and this time he believed there was no way to redeem himself. There was no chance in hell that she didn’t believe he was a complete moron.
⭑*•̩̩͙⊱••••✩••••̩̩͙⊰•*⭑
Remus had been hyping himself up the entire day, barely concentrating on any word that left his professors’ mouths. He spent the full day preparing himself to not make a fool out of himself again.
He took a deep breath and shook out the nerves from his body before walking into the library at the end of the day towards the table where Y/N was already sitting.
Her Y/H/C was pulled back into a low ponytail, a few stray strands framing her gorgeous face. Her eyebrows were furrowed as she scanned the book open in front of her. The scar on her face was light, standing out prominently under the bright sunlight streaming in through the window she was sitting next to. In her hands was a quill which she was twirling around absentmindedly as she looked for information in the pages before her.
Remus stood afar for a while, admiring her simplistic beauty, one that never once managed not to take his breath away.
He slowly strode up to the table once he realized he had been staring at her for an amount of time that was borderline creepy. He quietly placed his bag near the foot of his chair as he sat down on it, slouching.
Y/N jumped in her seat at the quiet greeting he whispered. Her startled Y/E/C eyes relaxed as they landed on his figure. She pushed a strand of hair out of her face.
“Sorry,” she muttered, “I was a bit startled.”
Remus smiled endearingly at the sight of her crimson cheeks, “It’s all right. I should’ve used a better method to make you aware of my presence rather than scaring you.”
Y/N quickly pulled out her Potions textbook from her bag, removing another spare piece of parchment along with it.
“So where shall we begin?” she asked with a small grin.
The two got to work; Remus explaining the assignment and what was required while Y/N sat and listened. The sky outside began to change colours, the blue fading into an ocean of orange, pink, purple and red. The sunlight switched from a bright to a deep shade of orange.
Y/N admired Remus’ face as the setting sun cast shadows on his features. His light brown hair resembled a golden halo at the top of his head in the sunshine. His green-coloured eyes mesmerized her; she had always loved the colour of his eyes. They reminded her of the vast forest standing out at the edge of Hogwarts, the luscious grass, the mint that gave her the morning mint tea. Remus held the colours of budding spring in his eyes; ever-young, bold and beautiful. Y/N’s eyes trailed the shape of Remus’ eyebrows, the sharpness of his rosy cheeks, the prominence of his jaw. She outlined the curves of his mouth, his tongue poking out every few minutes to wet his pink chapped lips.
“Hello? Y/N?” Y/N blinked, almost comically, as Remus’ deep voice brought her out of her daydream.
Her cheeks unwillingly burned under his stare, ashamed that she had been caught daydreaming about him, not that he knew that in particular.
“Yes, yes. Sorry,” she said.
Remus peered at her through his eyelashes, “It’s okay. I know it can get a bit boring.”
Y/N paid no mind to his words, frowning as she noticed his slouching body, trying to make himself appear shorter than he was. His head was hunched over, his neck never fully straight, concealing his face from the world.
Y/N ignored the worried look on Remus’ face and reached forward to brush the hair covering his dreamy eyes out of his forehead. His hair was soft just like she’d had dreamt it would be.
Remus stared at her, his lips slightly parted in shock. The feeling of her smooth hand running through his hair putting him in a daze. Her hand trailed the side of his face, stopping under his chin lifting his head to stand straight up. Remus’ eyes dropped to the chipped wood on the tabletop as she whispered a question.
“Why do you hide yourself?”
Before Remus could respond, a band of Slytherins passed by their table snickering.
One of the members spoke, “Look what we have here. The scarfaces are friends.”
The group burst out laughing. Y/N went to stand up, enraged and ready to give them a piece of his mind but a hand pulling her back down stopped her. She turned to look at Remus confused as to why he was stopping her.
“Leave it,” he whispered, “Reacting will only make it worse.”
The pit of snakes walked out of the library yelling out other taunts and not quietening down even as Madame Pince shushed them.
Y/N gazed at Remus who could not seem to meet her eyes. Upon hearing the rustling of papers, Remus looked up to see Y/N packing her bag, upset.
“Y/N, wait!”
“I’m sorry Remus. Thank you for your help but I need to go,” she said before hastily making her way out of the library without giving him a chance to reply. Remus watched Y/N’s retreating figure defeatedly until she disappeared. Remus sighed, burying his face into his hands.
‘Why can’t you do anything right?’ he scolded himself.
⭑*•̩̩͙⊱••••✩••••̩̩͙⊰•*⭑
Another week passed by. During this week, Remus did all he could to apologize to Y/N but she would not give him the time of the day. She avoided him like the plague; leaving the Great Hall when he entered, sitting as far away as possible in the lessons they shared, took different longer routes to her lessons through which she knew there would be no chance of bumping into him. She even went as far as spending all of her free time in the Hufflepuff common room, never once stepping foot into the library.
Others didn’t know why she was so upset. No one knew what it was like to live with such imperfections displayed on their face for all to see.
Y/N understood that Remus didn’t like others to see his scars but that did not mean she didn’t. She had worked so hard to build her confidence up to what it was. She had put a lot of effort into priding herself on how she looked, not to be ashamed. She had taught herself not to cower away from her reflection or due to the weight of others’ whispers and stares. So when Remus, the one person she had expected to understand, had stopped her from standing up for herself, for them, she felt hurt.
It may be an overreaction and Y/N should’ve forgiven Remus by now but when he had told her to sit back and quietly listen to the horrendous opinions others had about them, she felt annoyed, offended, hurt. But most importantly she felt disfigured.
Remus knew he had messed up. He had messed up big time. He had never been satisfied with how he looked, the scars marking his face making him feel ugly. But that was until he had seen Y/N in their second year. The Hufflepuff girl with a scar similar to his, who wore the scar like a brave warrior.
Remus had believed he was helping her when he’d stopped her from fighting with the Slytherins but it seemed he had made things much worse because by not speaking up against their vile words. He had in a way confirmed their words, confirmed that the scars were ugly, a thing to be ashamed of and disgusted by. He had unintentionally said that he believed their words to be true, that he thought he was hideous, that Y/N’s face was repulsive.
“Talk to her.”
“What the bloody hell do you think I’ve been trying to do this past week?” Remus asked, annoyed as he shoved another piece of chocolate into his mouth.
It was his third chocolate bar of the day and it was only noon.
“I mean corner her. Give her no means to escape then she’ll have to listen,” Sirius shrugged, moving about their shared room to fall face-first onto his bed.
“Bad move. She’ll hate you even more,” James said, his voice muffled by his pillow.
“What other option does he have left?” Peter spoke up as he ate yet another piece of cauldron cake.
“I should just leave her alone,” said Remus quietly, playing with a loose thread on his sweater, “It’s clear she wants nothing to do with me.”
He gazed at the thread for a bit, his mouth turned down.
“I think I’m going to go for a walk. Clear my head,” he said, getting up and leaving.
Sirius lifted his head from his head to look at his two best friends, “I think we know what to do boys.”
⭑*•̩̩͙⊱••••✩••••̩̩͙⊰•*⭑
After a long walk through the grounds of Hogwarts, Remus was making his way back to the Gryffindor common room, his head in a much better mindset than before. The corridor was surprisingly empty but he guessed everyone must be in their rooms, catching up on some much-needed sleep or doing the humongous pile of work they’d been assigned.
Remus paused and looked around the corridor thinking he had heard some footsteps. He shrugged and continued on his way when his eyes saw nothing but armours and portraits. Suddenly a push forced him into a classroom, the door locking behind him.
Remus stumbled before starting to bang on the door in a panic. “Hey! This is not funny! Open up!”
“Don’t bother,” a silky voice cut his shouting short, “I’ve been trying that for the past few minutes and no one is opening the door.”
Realization dawned on Remus. He turned around to face Y/N, a guilty look on his face, “I think I might know who is responsible.”
“Your friends. I know, it became obvious when you were shoved into the door.”
Remus smiled apologetically, “I’m sorry. I don't know what they were thinking. They shouldn’t have-”
“Remus,” she stopped his ramble, “It’s okay. I know you weren’t involved in whatever they planned.
“You never seem to be,” she shrugged.
Remus looked at her curiously, “What do you mean?”
Y/N looked down at the feet, trying to hide the blush on her cheeks as she realized what she seemed to have admitted.
“Your pranks. I’ve noticed you usually don’t participate in many of them.”
Remus raised his eyebrows at her confession, “Yo- you’ve noticed me?”
Y/N looked up and gazed into his eyes, “I’ve always noticed you.”
Remus gulped, lost on what to do next, “Why?”
Y/N smiled at Remus walking up to him.
To Remus, Y/N may glisten like the sun but to Y/N, Remus glowed. He glowed like the moon hanging in the night sky taking attention away from the billions of twinkling stars. He glowed to bring light on the darkest of nights.
Remus’s eyes closed in pleasure, suppressing a shiver as she traced his scars endearingly.
“Why?” she whispered.
Remus let out a shaky breath at her proximity, her breath fanning his lips.
“Because I find you to be exquisite, Remus Lupin.”
Remus gasped as Y/N’s lips touched his. His eyes fluttered shut as their lips moved against each other slowly and clumsily, testing the new waters they found themselves in.
Y/N pulled away and began to press soft kisses against his scars. In between each sentence she spoke, “You are intelligent. You are kind. You are caring. You are beautiful.”
She cupped his face in her hands looking directly into his teary eyes, trying to make him believe that she meant every single word that fell from her lips from the bottom of her heart, “You are perfect Remus.”
Remus pressed his lips firmly against Y/N’s, encircling an arm around her waist bringing her closer as his other hand cupped her face and tilted it allowing him to deepen the kiss. Y/N’s hands left Remus’ face and buried themselves in his hair, tugging at it. Their lips moved passionately against each other, their senses overwhelmed with the amount of serotonin coursing through their veins.
They pulled away from each other with giddy smiles on their faces. Remus tucked her hair behind her ear before trailing down to admire the crescent moon necklace that hung around her neck, the metal cold against his warm fingertips.
“So... what do we do now?” Remus asked insecurely.
Y/N was stopped from answering at the sounds of rustling and whispering, “What did they say!?”
Remus sighed in exasperation before shouting, “Stop eavesdropping if you’re not even going to be good at it!”
A thump of a body falling against the floor and a few curses later, the sound of receding footsteps echoed through the otherwise empty corridor and classroom.
Remus smiled lovingly at the sight of Y/N trying to hush her giggles by covering her mouth.
“I’m sorry about them,” said Remus after her giggling died out.
“They are not much different from my friends,” Y/N reassured him, “They were chaperoning our study date last week. I’m surprised you didn’t notice them.”
“Study date, huh?” Remus questioned with a smirk.
“Well yeah,” Y/N shrugged, looking at her hands nervously fidgeting with the hem of Remus’ sweater, “At least I hoped it was.”
Remus chuckled, glad to not be the one who was flustered for once. He placed two fingers below Y/N’s chin to lift her gaze to his.
“Actually, I was hoping I could take you out on a proper first date tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow? But it’s a-”
“Sunday, yes. But my plans don’t involve Hogsmeade.”
“That’s only if you have the time. If you want to,” Remus quickly added, hoping it didn’t look like he was forcing her into anything.
Y/N smiled lovingly, “I would love to.”
In Y/N’s opinion, the consequent radiant smile that overtook Remus’ face outshone the sun, moon and stars combined.

saudade. (holding on. letting go.)
Tumblr media
pairing ⇁ lee know x reader.
genre ⇁ angst, borderline fluff.
trope ⇁ exes to lovers. (again, i know. but it’s a good fit for him imo idk why)
word count ⇁ 1.6 k.
It was an awfully precarious position that you put yourself in, that was most certain. In that childish, scary feeling that comes with loving someone but loving them anyway.
And yet, in retrospect, you concluded, you'd do it all over again.
"Keep it."
You stared up at Minho's glossed over stare, the blinking light above contributed to rendering a vague view of his rubicund face, the little ornaments glued on to complement his sparkly eyeshadow, the extravagant looking satin shirt and you concluded, if the strong stench of alcohol didn't already give away that it was certainly not complete sobriety with which he was speaking, everything else did.
Underneath the act of being confused about the packaged banana bread he'd passed to you from across the counter while you bagged the rest of his groceries, you took the luxury of staring at him in an unabashed way - the newly dyed black hair unkempt, the narrow jut of his nose, small set of lips, completed by big, feline-like eyes - which seemed to be stand out amongst all the aforementioned features- and you waited for it to hit you suddenly for the umpteenth time since your awfully confusing dynamic had begun to flesh out, like a rush of blood to the head it came, a realisation, a secret, - that you want this to mean something, you want this to mean something so bad it hurts.
"What?" His bored frown was quickly replaced by a set of pouted lips at your reluctance.
You wanted to hate Minho for it, his proclivity to be hot and cold that ever so often served as a reminder that this split wasn't at all cut and dry - now, you reasoned, aren't drunken gestures supposed to convey sober feelings? Or was it just nothing more than wishful thinking on your part? "It's your favourite."
Minho said this with such unwavering certainty, even in his inebriated stupor, that you wondered when he'd come to know you so well. If he knew everything about you. And when you let him. If you let him.
Your idle fingers made a quick move of shifting your cap down to shield an expression of fluster once you managed to tear your gaze off of his face. "Yeah." You cleared your throat, slowly repeating, "It's my favourite."
(He smiled lazily, slowly dragging his fingers to brush them against your cheek, in an unhesitating manner that conveyed touching you was a habit. And you begin to ask yourself where it all began, how it all started, how it got to this, you imagined holding a map before your perplexed face and looking for the routes, the passages, the oceans, the rivulets, the cities and every little thing that plotted your falling so miserably in love with Minho. All over again.)
...
When the engines rumbled again.
You were positive about two things; one, seven minutes in heaven had outlived all its contenders in the department of shitty alcohol induced games college students thrived on - and two, this wasn't the first time you were seeing Minho behind his moody barrier that initially gave you a different impression from the awfully cheerful personality he was around your miniscule circle of friends.
Through the course of being his ex partner, spending much time in his apartment, in his bed; maintaining a poor recreated "friendship" even after the breakup, you'd begun to understand that it was not intention that led Minho to assume the position of a renowned tsundere -
But it was only just that he didn't know how to express himself.
Though that wasn't true for your encounters. You were too familiar with him for his own good, not failing to notice the way he seemed to slacken around you, despite the big change in your dynamic, a permanent crack through which you could make out the unknown territories of his heart.
That, to a great extent, satisfied you.
There was a great opportunity to rekindle. Because in hindsight, it was merely a stupid fight that brought you to where you are; and frankly, with the kind of pride both of you had, it was impossible to know who’d take the first step.
Now that you think about it, it’s almost as if your friends put you up to the transpiring events, the setting suspiciously working in your favour.
Before your turn came up, you took note of Minho's unwillingness for the game when he tried to get up halfway but Jisung yanked him down with a sly grin on his face, like it was an apparent punishment for poking too cruel jokes at him; so now, you paused, partially hopeful, partially scared, watching Minho, if he objected with being paired with you, this was his chance to show it and you would tap out.
But Minho didn't say anything, sticking to simply following you behind through the famiiar territory of your flat. His footsteps mimicked yours, growing louder and louder. Softer and louder. Louder and softer.
After staring at the cracked paint of a wooden door that was now secluding you from the rest of your friends, an attempt to gather enough courage to let the situation sink in was being made - you were alone now, you could recognise his scent, under the fabric softener and after shave and cheap cologne, a distinct fragrance that solely belonged to him. It's the first time you'd been so close after he'd decided to break it off, the warmth radiating off of his body felt at a daunting proximity.
His long fingers ghosted along your shoulders in a smoothing down motion as he leaned forward to say something, his breath tickling the back of your neck.
You made a quick, impulsive gesture to flaunt how you were completely unfazed by this movement.
Minho gasped, the noise passing through pursed lips. His stare flickered between the now emptied solo cup in your hand to the purple stain on his sweater, blinking gaze scanning you with judgement, he held his arms up from his body and your interest for this game mitigated as fast as it surfaced.
"I told you not to carry drinks around the house. You always spill." He chided, shaking his head in dismay. It was impossible to think of a manner to immediately treat the stain in here, where accessing detergent was a distant remedy since you’re only surrounded by boots, heels and sneakers. You groaned, running your hands over your face, looking up at him through the gaps of your fingers, “Just take it off before it gets on your shirt, will you?”
He grumbled under his breath but resorted to slow compliance, pulling the dark fabric over his head, balling it up in his hands to set it atop a shoe box.
The blinking studio light above was on the verge of giving out but its fading colour still succeeded in bringing his sharp features to an intimidating exposition, dull gold dousing the tip of his nose, his high cheekbones, his mouth, his chin and the jut of his Adam's apple in thick, frequent splatters, out of reach in areas where his long eyelashes casted thin streaks of shadows.
It was only when Felix made an announcement of the remaining minutes you had at hand that you were pulled right out of your trance.
There was a faint blush pooling into his cheeks whilst his gaze flitted between your eyes to your mouth as if to communicate that he was making an attempt to gauge your intentions. He shoved his hands inside his pockets, assuming your stationarity for reluctance. "This is stupid." He huffed.
You rolled your eyes. "You act like we haven't done worse."
Minho avoided your gaze, his face only seemed to deepen in colour, "That's why it's stupid."
"But you’re blushing though!" You cooed, reaching out to pinch his reddening cheeks, which only seemed to aggravate the colour and subsequently prompted Minho to grab a hold of your wrist, pulling you close enough for you to make out the distinct black of his eyes, not a single speck of another colour visible in them.
"No, I'm not."
It was then that you decided to act on temptation, in a memorised manner. But also, not really. Because it's daunting, every time, you've to remind yourself that it's just as easy to let go of Minho as it is to hold onto him.
And in spite of this, it has always meant something so much more to you. So much more than you've allowed yourself to express.
No, you told yourself, you want him to come to you this time, you want him to tell you how he feels without making you wonder. You want him to want you for good or not at all.
But that doesn't stop you.
Minho raised an eyebrow, watching you attentively. Completely unsuspecting.
You placed your hands on his shoulders and pecked his parted lips briefly before returning to your position with a nervous tick of rubbing your hot nape over and over again.
The sudden act seemed to have deemed him speechless, his lips were still pouted, giving away that he hadn't quite recovered from the unanticipated kiss, blinking momentarily until his expression morphed to something indecipherable, giving away that a sudden thought had hit him.
He made a quick move of cupping your face with his hands as his thumbs swiped across your cheeks, kissing you in a proper fashion. You reached out to tug at his raven strands in an endeavour to deepen the gesture which elicited a deep throaty groan from him, prompting the act of bumping your head accidentally against the door.
You should've pushed him away, should've fed him some made up litany about how you were completely "over" him, like you'd practised in your head over the months -
But you didn't. You hadn't. You couldn't.
And maybe, just maybe, you didn't want to.

SHINee/ Super M Taemin ‘Hot Chocolate’
Requested on WATTPAD
Request your own oneshot here!
prompt numbers:
5. Spilling hot chocolate/coffee/a hot-fucking-beverage on the other and insisting on paying for a new drink and new clothes for them, unaware that they're rich and very capable of buying themselves another coffee. Besides, they don't know that this jacket is Louis Vuitton and cost more than the knock-off Gucci belt that had caught their eye in the first place (probably looking a little lower than the belt, but we digress). "So you wanna... hot chocolate and chill?" "If you ask me that one more time, I will dump my hot chocolate on you."
7. Being gifted tickets to see a family member overseas, but having to leave their S/O at home for Christmas, not expecting them to turn up on their doorstep on Christmas morning with a bouquet of roses.
Pairing: Taemin x Reader
Genre: fluff with some angst
Word count: 3.1k
Flecks of snow landed on your eyelashes, propping your hood up higher to cover your face from the cold.
The drastic change from fall to winter had you feeling under the weather, walking to the nearest convenience store to buy some medicine, not wanting to bother Taemin.
You entered your shared apartment to smell chicken noodle soup boiling on the stove, your stomach growling like an animal. Taemin was humming a tune while stirring the soup, not realizing you entered until you wedged yourself in between the stove and him.
"Goodness Y/N! You scared me!" He quickly moved you away from the stove, not wanting you to get burned because you wanted attention.
"Sorry." A coughing fit came and went, reminding yourself to take the medicine.
He sighed and engulfed you in a hug, patting your back and then placing his warm hand on your forehead.
"You're burning up, let's eat and then you need to rest." You nodded, feeling the effects of the medicine you took just a moment earlier.
The rest of the day went by in a blur, Taemin forcing you to rest and kissing your forehead as you whined for his embrace, your eyes feeling drowsy and your mind filled with what to do on Christmas day.
_______________
"Hey, remember the time when we first met?" The Christmas holidays were coming up, and you felt better, your body finally getting used to the winter weather.
The pretend fire you had on the Television gave the living space a more home-like effect, the both of you lazing around on the couch drinking hot chocolate.
Taemin choked, as the hot liquid went down quicker than expected. "I do. Why so out of the blue?"
You shrugged. "I don't know, I just find it really embarrassing for me. I mean, you are so rich and handsome but also so kind. If you had made me go get your shirt dry cleaned I think I would have been broke forever."
He chuckled. "But you were cute so I let it off the hook." He winked at you and you cringed, feeling a blush creeping up...or was that from the hot chocolate. "Besides, I didn't really like that shirt and I couldn't do anything about it. My parents would disapprove of me giving the shirt away so I guess you became a blessing to my curse."
It was a bright fall day, the orange leaves crunching under your shoes. Coming from a stressful class you knew you needed a pick-me-up. What better way to go and get your favourite drink at the local coffee shop at Campus? Quick, affordable, aesthetic, a great study place too.
The bells chimed as you walked in, the fresh smell of ground coffee beans hitting your nose with the sound of milk being foamed, it was a heavenly place for the coffee lover.
"Can I get one hot chocolate please?" But for you, you couldn't let go of one specific drink.
"One hot chocolate for Y/N."
Your hands clasped the open drink tightly, keeping your eyes focused on the ethereal leaf design made with the extra milk, adding a small dollop of whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles on top. One second the drink was beautifully made, photogenic. And the next?
It was all over a man.
"Oh my goodness I'm so sorry!" You rushed to grab napkins from the drink counter, trying to wipe off the mess.
You accidentally touched the man's jacket and gasped. It was soft to the touch and a beautiful light grey colour, the amount of puff perfect to protect the owner from a cold. But yet, there was a stain not only on the white shirt the man wore but on the jacket as well. A brown ugly colour which stood out a hundred times more.
Trying to wipe it off, but instead smearing the stain, even more, panicking inside.
A hand clasped over yours, rough but smooth feeling at the same time.
"Hey, it's alright." You look up and into the eyes of Lee Taemin, the top student in your Chemistry department.
Shaking your head, you took another sip of the hot chocolate. "But Taemin really, just what happened with that shirt and jacket?"
"Well the shirt is gone, thank goodness for that. And the jacket, well...."
That was three years ago, never would you have imagined that your life would revolve around his. That the both of you knew, that you were soulmates, shared over a cup of hot chocolate.
A few dates here and there, never without a cup of hot chocolate and one of his awful pick-up lines.
"So you wanna... hot chocolate and chill?"
"Lee Taemin If you ask me that one more time, I will dump my hot chocolate on you."
Getting closer to him meant that you saw more than just his appearance. Although he is rich and finding out later on that the jacket and shirt you spilled your drink on was Louis Vuitton branded. Panicking aside, you didn't care about the money or the looks. His personality is what hit you the most. Gentle, kind, reassuring, always willing to listen to your problems, on and on.
He was the one.
______________
"Yo sis when are you coming home for Christmas?"
Two weeks before Christmas day and work had become more tiring than ever. Everyone wanted to get results out before the holidays, but that puts you into working overtime. Taemin was the same, the business booming with less paperwork and more physical work needed.
You sighed while washing the dishes, your neck cramping up as your younger brother Mark complained about how he and the rest of your family could only see you once or twice a year. It wasn't your fault that the company wouldn't give time off longer than six weeks total.
"Um, I'm not sure I'll be able to come this year. Work is getting busier and they need all the help they can get."
Mark sighed on the other side of the phone while opening a bag of chips and stuffing a handful into his mouth. "hy dun yu qut he job?"
"What?"
"I said why don't you quit the job?"
"Mark I already told you, I worked there for an internship and they liked me so I just stayed. Plus it's way easier than having to search for one." You washed the last plate and moved to the couch, your feet sore from standing.
"Doesn't your fiance have his own business? Can't he just hire you as his secretary or something?"
"Fiance? Mark we aren't engaged."
"Huh? But Taemin was texting me what kind of a ring to get you?"
"WHAT!?" Standing up as fast as lightning resulted in a stubbed toe. "Oops, I said too much. BYE SIS I LOVE YOU TEXT ME IF YOU'RE COMING HOME."
"MARK YOU LITTLE SH-" and the line went dead.
Massaging your baby toe, you grumbled. "What the hell was that?"
The lock jingled as Taemin opened the door, his cheeks a soft shade of pink wrapped up in a plaid scarf and a gray puffer jacket....yes, the same one you spilled the drink on.
"Baby I'm home, give me hugs." You laughed and ran to hug him, complaining at how cold he was.
"I was just outside!"
"I know but still!"
Christmas Music was softly played as you both were in the kitchen cooking a delicious dinner. Having too much wine even before the meal resulted in yet another spill, thankfully not on anyone's clothing.
Chatter about work became the main topic for tonight's conversations, Taemin complaining about Lucas and Chenle.
"I swear those two will be the death of me, especially Lucas. He's so tall and annoying sometimes, and too loud."
"But Taemin you let them work with you."
"...It was a mistake."
More wine and cuddles, picking a good Christmas movie on Netflix. You snuggled up against Taemin's side, working the remote while he drank his wine from his free hand. After deciding on Elf, you decided to finally ask what was on your mind the whole day.
"Taemin.....what was Mark talking about that you were trying to buy me a ring?"
Taemin choked again on his wine, spitting it back into the cup and cringing in disgust. "W-whatever do you mean darling? A ring? What ring? I see no ring?" he awkwardly chuckles as you eye him weirdly, pressing your hand on his forehead.
"Baby, is something wrong?" He shakes his head. You, on the other hand, don't buy it.
"Taemin you can tell me anything it's okay."
He takes a deep breath and stands up.
You, in your sweats and one of his oversized shirts and him, also wearing sweats and an oversized shirt. Elf playing in the background, the Christmas tree lit up. He figures there was no better opportunity than to do it here. Slowly, Taemin gets down on one knee and reaches in his pocket. A velvet box perched on his hand. Your reflexes immediately bring your own hands to your mouth, gasping when he opens the box to reveal a beautiful ring. Simple yet elegant, the light hitting all the perfect points of the diamond perched on top of the gold band, showing colours of pastel pink and purple.
"Y/N, I know we both probably don't look the best right now but I know for sure this is how I want to spend the rest of my life....with you. Will you marry me?"
_______________
"HOLY SHIT! I knew it!" You chuckled as you packed your luggage. Mark was cheering on the other side of the phone and you knew it would last ages.
"Alright alright, Mark I get it! He proposed the wedding won't be until a while okay?
Mark laughed. "Okay okay, sis I get it. By the way, are you coming? Mom and dad have been nagging me to ask you almost every day."
"...yeah I'm coming. Taemin got me a ticket to see you guys so pick me up from the airport at 3:00 pm tomorrow okay?"
The call ended shortly after that, packing all of the essentials needed for the one week trip. You admired the engagement ring, smiling. It was perfect.
But not everyone agreed.
Later that evening you and Taemin reached his parents' condominium, him ringing the doorbell as you held the still steaming fruit cake in your hands, nervous as ever.
The door swung open and Taemin's mother engulfed him in a hug, giving kisses to both of his cheeks.
"Hello, mother nice to see you again."
"Oh come in, you must be hungry." His mother moved her eyes to you, as you tried to bow but almost dropping the cake. She discreetly rolled her eyes and gestured her son to come in, leaving you to fend for yourself.
_________________
The clinking of glasses surrounded the home, small talk developing. What you thought was a small family dinner turned out to be a whole relative get-together for the holidays. You felt out of place in your dress not tailored to your style, standing beside Taemin for most of the night while you felt the chilling stares of disapproval.
Taemin gently placed his hand in yours, guiding you to the middle of the dining room table. With a clink of his glass, the room became silent.
"I have an announcement to make." he began. "As you all know my girlfriend Y/N, two days ago we have entered into a new chapter of our lives. We're engaged."
The silence, the moving eyes, you felt your stomach drop. Everyone goes back to their small talk and you looked at Taemin, showing a small smile. He bends closer towards you, his breath tickling your ears, "they will warm up to the news, it's still a little shocking to them."
After excusing yourself to use the washroom, you accidentally bump into Taemin's mother, who scoffs under her breath.
"Still clumsy as ever I see? You never learn."
You turn around. "Pardon me?"
"I see you forced my son to marry you? Why? What is your reason with him? Surely you're in it for the money?" Her eyes going cold.
"No! I would never do such a thing, Madam. He was the one that proposed to me. I love him."
Her eyes judge you up and down, taking sight of your second hand "fancy" dress. "Never will I let my son marry a commoner like you." With that, she walked away, your thoughts and tears clouding your vision, second-guessing everything.
___________________
The ride home was silent, your fingers fiddling with the ring on your left hand. Taemin humming to a song on the local radio.
His hand finds yours and you hold it like there's no tomorrow, fearing for what you will do next.
Your mind is split into two, your persona leaning more into option two. For even though it will hurt, it's better than to live your life in agony.
Once back at home you quickly remove your shoes and run to your shared bedroom, slamming the door. Taemin places down the keys at the entrance table and slanders over to the door, knocking it ever so lightly that if you weren't so close to the doors, you would have missed it.
"Love, are you alright? I know the silence at the party was unexpected but I promise you, every-" "Do you really love me?"
Taemin was taken aback, you had never asked him such a thing.
"I'm sorry?"
You opened the door and he saw you tear-faced. "Do you really love me Lee Taemin?"
"Oh Y/N, of course, I love you, why did you think I would ask you to marry me?"
You shrug. "Oh I don't know, maybe because you feel bad about me being poor and a commoner and you think that a handsome rich man like you would make all my troubles disappear." venom like words followed after that. Maybe it was because you had a little bit too much to drink or you couldn't take it anymore. But whatever it was, the last few words and the actions that followed made Taemin's heart break.
"Let's call off the engagement." and the ring was placed into his hand.
__________________
Mark had picked you up from the airport and didn't question your puffy eyes or tiredness. He simply drove you home and warned your parents beforehand not to ask anything about the engagement, hearing the news from Taemin.
You slept most of the time, while awake your mind wandered to the conversation from yesterday night with his mother, feeling disgusted at yourself.
Mark had knocked on your door to let you know he was running some late-night errands and that dinner was ready but you didn't have the energy to get out of bed.
That was Christmas eve.
Christmas day was a different story.
Trying not to make the mood so down, you acted cheery in front of your parents, like nothing happened. Throughout the day that act became real, with you cracking some jokes with your father like old times, and helping your mother cook.
Mark hadn't been at home for most of the day until the three of you sat down and waited. The doorbell rang not too long after. "Y/N honey please get the door."
Grumbling, you hoped it was Mark as you were starving. But you slammed the door right away.
The man you didn't want to see, was at your front door, in your home country. Carrying a bouquet of roses. What scared you though was how similar he looked to you. Red puffy eyes as if he had been recently crying (you covered yours up with lots of concealer), and a tired expression.
"Y/N honey who was that?"
"N-no one mom." You opened the door a tiny crack and Mark fully pushed the door open, dragging Taemin inside as well.
"Mom we have a guest over."
The roses were placed in an empty pot filled with water, the silence unbearable for you.
"So Taemin, how is the business doing?" Your father tried to make small talk with the man who he had only seen a handful of times.
"It's going well sir.....I'm preparing for the next big sales for New Year's."
Your father nodded and it was silent yet again.
"Anyone up for dessert?"
_______________
Hot chocolate was given to drink in the living room, but Mark intercepted and stopped at two, signalling his parents to watch the two people who haven't spoken in a day to each other.
A day to a one-person may seem like a normal thing to others, but for these two, their new chapter had been shattered and it was only a matter of time before it was lost.
You drank your hot chocolate with questions floating all over the place.
Clearing your throat, you decided to eliminate the elephant in the room.
"Why did you co-" "I'm sorry."
Silence.
"Y/N I'm so sorry for everything. After you left, I confronted my parents and my mother told me what she said to you." That hit a nerve, as you visibly winced at the fresh memory.
Taemin continued. "For years they wanted me to have an arranged marriage with someone they liked and who was in our social circle. I was willing to agree with it until I met you. Remember when I said you were the blessing to my curse? You didn't only save me from wearing that awful shirt."
You tried to stifle a laugh and he smiled. "But you also saved me from conforming to my social norms, to be the odd one out, to follow my dreams, to know what it's like to really fall in love. And I never, ever want to lose that."
Taemin placed his hot chocolate on the table, took a deep breath and slowly went down on one knee. He took out the velvet box from his pocket and opened up to reveal the same engagement ring. Although in a different country, the lighting hits the diamond perfectly.
"Again, I know you and I don't look the best right now, but I know for sure I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I will make sure nothing gets in our way and I will love you unconditionally. L/N Y/N, would you do the honours of becoming my wife?"
Placing your hot chocolate down, you wiped stray tears that came out of your eyes, hugging Taemin and mumbling yes. He smiles and hugs you back, pulling away to place the ring back on your finger, where it belongs.
The both of you share a kiss, accidentally pushing the table and spilling both hot chocolates, laughing.
For a sweet romance that started with a cup of spilled hot chocolate.

Me and You.... And You Too.
Phichuuri Week Day 2 - Share the Yuuri
In the restaurant the night before the Grand Prix final, Yuuri was quickly losing control. The skaters around him had their eyes glued on him and Victor - noticeably the gold rings on their fingers - but even as the applause and congratulations started to dissipate, Yuuri’s eyes linked with Phichit’s. Something knowing lurked there, sparkling yet deadly serious. Yuuri nodded once, both sharing the same silent thought.
Engagement rings, Victor had called them. He’d said they would get married. Yuuri’s heart skipped a beat just thinking about it, but it was for more than one reason. Elation was one; the other was mirrored in Phichit’s gaze.
They had to tell Victor.
Phichit: He doesn’t have to know...
Yuuri froze at the message glowing from his phone, a single beacon in the dark hotel room. On the other side of the bed, Victor didn’t react. He’d been so tired when they’d finally  gotten back to the hotel room that he’d fallen asleep nearly as soon as his head had hit the pillow, not even enough energy to curl himself around Yuuri like he usually did before he slept. For once, Yuuri didn’t mind.
His fingers froze over the keyboard of his phone, not sure what to say back to his best friend. Phichit would know he had read his message. He had to say something.
It wasn’t something they should discuss via text, but at the same time it was the safest option. Phone calls could be overheard and slinking off to talk in person would look suspicious. Victor would never go through Yuuri’s texts though. Yuuri didn’t want to hide it from Victor as much as he didn’t want Victor to find out about it in the wrong way. It would come from Yuuri, from his own mouth - when he’d figured out how to break it to his sensitive fiancee.
Phichit: We could do it quietly. He wouldn’t have to know.
Phichit’s message buzzed quietly against Yuuri’s thigh and Yuuri frowned down at the words. It sounded like a dirty little secret. Well, it kind of was...
Yuuri: He’d know.
He punched the message back without thinking, but he knew on instinct that he would be right. Victor would find out eventually. Through paperwork or press - or something like that - he’d find out at some point. A secret never stayed a secret forever.
Phichit: So we have to tell him.
Yuuri: We have to tell him.
Phichit: When?
Yuuri thought for a moment, but the answer was obvious. It had to be after the competition, after the public eyes had gone away and the reaction to the news wouldn’t be on full view for the world to see. After the pressure of the Grand Prix was over and Yuuri hopefully had a gold medal to soften the blow. After. After everything.
He texted Phichit as much, silently starting the countdown in his head to the most uncomfortable conversation of his life.
The camera's flashed.
They were blinding from the podium - even from the silver medal stand! - and the lights of cell phones sparkled from the mass of the crowd wrapped around the stadium. It was like the starry night sky painted around him, glittering beyond Yuuri’s wildest dreams.
It was so much different to how he’d imagined. For a start, it wasn’t the gold he’d always wanted. Silver twinkled proudly from around his neck under the camera light and even though it wasn’t gold, Yuuri was still proud. He just wished Victor was with him on the podium. Instead, his coach waved wildly from the rinkside - the barrier barely holding him back from leaping onto the ice in his excitement - and he bluntly ignored the reporters baying for an interview behind him. His heartshaped smile shone brighter than any camera flash.
The rest of the day would be a whirlwind, Yuuri knew. There would be interviews, and press conferences, and then the banquet … Yuuri just hoped he could remember this one by the end of the night. He had a lot more worth remembering this season around.
The white of Phichit’s free skate costume caught in the corner of Yuuri’s eye, half a head turn over his shoulder. Brown eyes met grey, effortless even across the stretch of ice.
Tomorrow, Phichit mouthed across the rink. An eyebrow arched in question.
Yuuri nodded.
Tomorrow. They would tell Victor tomorrow, after the banquet.
He hadn’t planned on getting drunk. Honestly, he hadn’t. He’d wanted a few drinks, a few photos, a few dances with Victor - and then an early night.
Yuuri wasn’t sure how many hours had passed at the banquet  before he started to notice the heaviness dragging his feet when he walked, the way his mouth moved but he didn’t hear any of the words coming out of it while everybody else’s voices were loud - impossibly loud!
“It was for financial reasons.” Phichit’s voice boomed beside his ear. “We were in college. It didn’t… it didn't mean anything.”
Warm arms stretched behind Yuuri's back and round blue eyes flashed in front of him, stark against the blood red backdrop of the hotel corridor. Had they left the banquet? Colours flashed, but little made sense in his head; grey hair; darker grey eyes; tanned skin; fair, alabaster features; dark eyeliner; long, silver eyelashes that fluttered so beautifully it made Yuuri want to cry. Perhaps he did. Something was welling up in his chest after all, alcohol dissolving his usually self conscious barrier.
“He loves you.” Was that Victor in his other ear? Damn, he sounded miserable. “I’m not blind.”
Yuuri’s mouth was still moving, feeling the words slur more than hear it as he noticed a champagne-induced weight tugging at his jaw. What was he saying?
“Love both ….you.”
Shit, was that his voice?
The elevator dinged, and Yuuri’s world went dark.
The next morning, Yuuri woke up with a pounding in his head and his body aching in more than one way. He and Victor must have, um… hem. Sure enough Victor was beside him in the large hotel bed, lying on his front with his tousled silver bangs splayed out over his face. Even in disarray, he was still beautiful.
Sighing, Yuuri rolled back onto his side to get a better view, watching Victor for a just moment longer and holding onto the peaceful moment before the reality of what he had resolved to tell Victor that morning came to light. His countdown grew ever shorter. Yuuri groaned softly. Reality still felt so far away; everything was warm and comfortable, sheets draped over Yuuri’s lower legs and the unmistakable press of bare skin flush against Yuuri’s back.
A firm frown nudged into Yuuri’s brow. Bare skin behind him? But he was looking at Victor in front of him…
His mouth ran dry long before he pushed himself up onto his elbows and twisted through his stiffness, glancing over a shoulder. The familiar sleepy moan hit him first. Then tan skin. Wild black hair. That little birthmark on the left pectoral muscle chest that could only belong to one person.
Phichit’s body stirred at Yuuri’s movement but he didn’t wake, cheek pressed into the pillow and leg draped over Yuuri’s. Something firm pressed against Yuuri’s thigh. Waoh! He jolted.
“Fuck!”
Right back into Victor.
The sleeping Russian tumbled off the edge of the bed, hitting the wooden floor with a resounding thud that bounced Phichit awake.
“Ow!”
Yuuri sat pressed against the headboard with wide, horrified eyes darting between the two naked forms of his best friend and fiancee. Victor propped his chin up on the edge of the bed, pouting underneath his tangled silver locks.
“Yuuri?” Phichit blinked at him innocently. Too innocently.
They were naked. So very naked. And - oh god - covered in marks when Yuuri dared glance down his body, teeth snagging his lower lip to hold onto his groan. Fresh purple bruises littered over his collarbones, chest and hips, small and too precise to be accidental.
Air caught in Yuuri’s chest and he saw white. Weight settled in his lap, warm hands closing either side of his face.
“Yuuri, it’s okay.” Phichit’s thumbs stroked gently over his cheeks, molten grey eyes never once leaving his.
Yuuri couldn’t hold the gaze though, darting around the room. The sheets were chaotic and clothes littered the floor; suits, ties and underwear strewn everywhere. He couldn’t remember how it had all gotten there. The opened box of condoms on the floor sent his heart into overdrive though, a few scattered over the wooden panels and a used packet crinkling under Victor’s fingers as he crawled forward, eyes glowing. His hand closed over Yuuri’s at the edge of the bed.
“What-what happened?” The words barely came out.
It was all wrong. Victor naked like this, he would understand. Even Phichit naked like this - he’d be shocked and horrified - but he’d understand.
But Phichit and Victor together like that…
A small smile quirked at Phichit’s lips, glancing to Victor.
“He doesn’t remember.”
“I’m not surprised.”
“He did drink a lot...”
Yuuri’s eyes flickered between Victor and Phichit at their too casual conversation, junk still hanging out for all the world to see. His gaze rolled to the ceiling, swallowing thickly. “Oh God.”
“Yuuri, it’s okay. We worked everything out.”
Yuuri squeaked. “What?”
“He knows.”
“He...”
“I know.” Victor nodded.
“B-but…how?”
“You blurted it out when you were drunk last night.”
Yuuri groaned hard, dropping his face into his hands. Of course, he did. He wasn't altogether surprised - just mortified.
“I know all about you and Phichit’s marriage in college. Peach,” - nobody called Phichit ‘peach’ except for his boyfriends!, Yuuri thought with wide eyes through his fingers - “filled me in on the details. We can to … an agreement.”
Yuuri was speechless at that. What kind of agreement? He wanted to ask, but he was half afraid of the answer he might get.
A wicked smile passed between Victor and Phichit and Victor shifted his smirk to Yuuri. “You really don’t remember? You were so into it last night…”
“I-into what?”
“Yuuri.”
Phichit’s voice was soft but commanding and Yuuri turned on instinct. The second he did, Phichit’s hand closed over where his neck met his shoulder and he silenced him with a kiss.
“You’re getting divorced.” Victor’s voice said, closer than Yuuri remembered.
Phichit smiled against his mouth, pulling away. His eyes flickered down to Yuuri’s mouth. “But you still get to keep me.”
So many questions hung on Yuuri’s tongue but they were all forgotten under the lingering pressure of Phichit’s mouth on his. Phichit had... kissed him. In front of Victor! And Victor didn’t look upset or angry about it, he looked - the breath hitched in Yuuri’s throat at the lustful swirl in Victor’s aquamarine orbs, leaning an arm over Phichit’s shoulders.
Phichit reached up and cupped the back of Victor’s head, pulling him down for a slow, lazy kiss. Yuuri felt his jaw drop.
Victor and Phichit… but Phichit had kissed him a second ago… and Victor was still wearing his engagement ring…
Yuuri slowly pieced the puzzle together. He could hardly believe it, even with his best friend and fiancee lip locked in front of him, Phichit’s fingers threading through Victor’s hair. A needy sound escaped Yuuri’s traitorous lips. He clamped a hand over his mouth, eyes shooting wide.
Victor’s mouth peeled off Phichit’s, shooting Yuuri a wicked grin. “We’re going to need three tickets to St Petersburg.”
