I rewrote Baruto?
Ok so I'm not the biggest fan of Baruto. It's probably my least favorite thing on this planet. But it got me thinking, what if I re wrote a better version of "The Next Generation."
Here are my bullet points!
Naruto and Sasuke die at the end of Shippuden.
If we keep Naruto and Sasuke in the series we're just going to butcher their characters. We saw how well the nurfing the strongest ninja in all of the WORLD, went in Baruto.
Make it way longer in the future, 20-30 years in the future.
Let's separate ourselves from the original Kanoha 13. Make their children the teachers and some of them elders. We can keep Sakura as the head of the Medical nin. This way we can fully separate ourselves from the events of the original.
Shikamaru is Hokage.
Shikamaru being older and literally THE smartest person ever would be a great choice. It would also be him both completing Naruto's dream and getting character development.
To our new main character, Naruto and Sasuke are ideals. They want to achieve their level of power.
It's still the next generation, so we can't completely ignore the events of the original. But having satues and folk tails about Naruto and Sasuke. Having them appear as heros and gods to the average people is much better than destroying their characters.
Ōtsutski clan. We can still bring them into the narrative but as a bigger threat.
No Naruto and Sasuke meaning they are an even bigger threat than they where in Baruto. We can use a similar plot line to Baruto but make changes according to the rest of the bullet points.
We can keep the ninja teams and add our protagonist to team 7. Without konohamaru because his team should be ino-shika-cho.
It's tradition, trust me on this.
We go more into the clan and village conflict.
The village massacred the uzamaki and the leaf village massacred the Uchiha. We can go more in depth to their fear of people in power over them.
Make our protagonist a low class member of the Hyoga clan.
The only surviving ocular clan in kanoha with a history of using a horrible class system? The perfect breeding place for an overpowered protagonist with trauma. We can also use this to provide more information about the Clans and why their afraid of them. As well as the awful conditions in the Hyoga clan that wasn't explored in Naruto.
The antagonist is from another village.
Our new Sasuke can be from a different village. Make a program where children from different villages create new teams. We can go into village espeianage and the misuse of the Shinobi system.
Our Antagonist can be willingly abandoned and being used as a spy for a different village.
This can bread external and internal conflict as they are made to fight against each other because of village conflict. This also breeds a similar aspect between main characters as one is willingly abandoned and the other is both neglected and used.
Our main characters have one half of Kurama.
The leaf village shanobi could have sealed Kurama away in the valley of the end. Due to their inability to find a new suitable host they could seal him inside one of the broken statues or brake his chakra in half on either shattered statue. Leaving both with a new link and power, creating a new soulmate link.
That's as far as I've thought, I might add more and if you have any new suggestions do share with the class.

For my own sake here's my list of how I think Saga/pope Ares interacted/treated the gold saints
Mu
While he pretended to be Shion for the past 13 years he didn't really know how to treat Mu so he just became more stricter and serious. Mu didn't think anything of it since he thought that his personality change was due to him getting older. When it was revealed that it was Saga all along and that he killed Shion he was 100% willing to kill Saga if given the chance. (also yes i think he would kill saga in one go)
Aldebaran
Nothing changed. I said it before and I'll say it again everyone loves Aldebaran so luckily he didn't get caught in any type of emotional crossfire amen 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Deathmask
Honestly I think this is one of the very few "healthy" relationships that he has w anyone. For the most part DM follows Saga on his own accord and doesn't really get told off like everyone else. The worst that he's gone through is an aggressive remark from Saga but other than that they're kinda chill.
Aiolia
Yeah uh idk what else to add that hasn't been explored LMAO. Just to refresh Saga killed his brother, didn't do anything to stop the constant harassment and death threats he received, gaslit him multiple times to second guess both himself and Aiolos, mind controlled him and almost made him kill Seiya etc. Besides all of that I think Saga just tried to not acknowledge him either out of guilt, awkwardness or to save himself from the hassle of trying to rope Aiolia into his scheme.
Shaka
Saga knew that Shaka was one of the strongest saints along with him and he knew that he was egotistical. He used his ego and self idolization to manipulate Shaka to follow him unquestionably. Shaka was a type of right hand man to Saga who "helped" run the sanctuary whenever Saga wasn't around because what's the easiest way to get people to follow you than to drag around one of the most praised warriors in all of Sanctuary.
Dohko
While Shion and Dohko did loose contact after the previous holy war they did communicate every now and then to see how the other has been. I like the hc that they would send each other letters and that they stopped when Saga came into the picture. Saga would still receive them but would never write back. The only time they did communicate was whenever he made announcements or commands and to Dohko that became a red herring for something being wrong in the Sanctuary.
Milo
Similar to Shaka (ego wise) Saga would almost always praise Milo after his missions especially in front of Aiolia. To Milo it was a great booster bc what's better than being the "favorite" of the pope and being praised almost all the times in front of that traitorous bastard. Saga also used Milo as a pawn to indirectly put Aiolia down which is why Milo was never told to back off from during their youth.
Aiolos
yeah...
Shura
If there's one man who went through hell and back it's definitely Shura. He got wrapped into this whole thing from the start I hc him being one of the first people who went to Saga's aid when he tried to kill Saori only for him to get the short end of the stick. Bc Shura was really young and admired Aiolos it was near impossible to get him to kill Aiolos so Saga did the best thing he could think of and mind controlled him the whole time. Ever since then Shura kind of became a puppet for Saga to use whenever he needed something done and bc he was a witness to his crimes Saga had a v close eye on him. This heavily affected Shura and led to him being very shut off and reserved from the others and only ever confiding with Aphrodite and DM.
Camus
I think Camus is one of the golds that Saga interacted with the least but that doesn't mean he didn't use him where he could. Saga was deeply interested in Camus' lack of emotion and restrain so he wanted to experiment a bit and see how it'd go if he were to train some students hence Isaak and Hyoga. It doesn't go as planned and to make matters worse he notices that the two made Camus a bit more emotional. In return Saga told him directly that he was growing weaker which led to Camus becoming crueler and stricter with Hyoga out of frustration (this is a whole 'nother can of worms but hopefully you'll get the idea)
Aphrodite
His relationship isn't too different from DM. He also chooses to follow Saga on his own accord and a main difference is that he's usually on Saga's good side. Aphrodite does see him differently as he genuinely believes that Saga fits well in the position of a pope. Aphrodite does share a similar role to Shura where he is also used by Saga to get things done or certain people gone.
But uhhh yeah that's it ty if you read all of it I'll literally die for you. Feel free to ask any questions I'd definitely love answering them.

My thoughts on Dr. Stone’s Chapter 232 (“Final Chapter: Dr.STONE”)
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE BIGGEST MYSTERY OF THE SERIES!
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE BIGGEST MYSTERY OF THE SERIES!
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE BIGGEST MYSTERY OF THE SERIES!
My thoughts after reading Chapter 232:
01. Now that I’ve read both Chapter 232 and Chapter 232.1, there are no more manga chapters for me to read :( But I still get to write about them! :D Starting with... oooh, so many colored pages! :D
02. Senku has Whyman on his belt, aww! :) And, y’know, most of those people deserve to be in the “last” chapter’s chapter art... but Magma?! We don’t get Kohaku, but we get Magma?! Really?? :O That’s so weird! XD Even Kaseki or Kokuyou would have made more sense than Magma!
03. Gen as a diplomat; everybody getting together to attend Taiju and Yuzuriha’s wedding... :) Their TWO-day wedding... XD
04. Thank you, Kohaku, for telling us about Senku and the science team, and for asking Ruri about Chrome! :D Chrome, whhhyyy??? XD I mean, I’m glad you got there, but... Ruri deserves a more planned proposal than that! :O But it’s so funny that Ruri was just all for it anyway XD
05. Good point about law and order... Although, I think at this point, Hyoga’s the only one with, like, permanent murders on his record? Although since he was acting as Tsukasa’s second-in-command, some of the blame could fall on Tsukasa, especially since he was pro-murder at the time too, even if it was “just” of petrified statues of older people :O
06. I know they’re serious scientists and stuff, but what if this scientist is an actual fangirl who cosplayed as Senku at work? And Senku himself doesn’t care, so everybody just adopted his attitude and they act like the cosplay is totally normal XD
07. Dr. Senku!! :D Oooh! Does he have academic qualifications now? :O Or is this more of “a knighthood (doctorate) received on the battlefield (stone world)” sort of thing? Either way, yay! :D
08. Taiju bursting in and shouting about Yuzuriha... and Senku responding by saying almost exactly what he said back then, too! Nice callback to the very first chapter! :)
09. Senku has shoes now :O Like, leather ones! And a more modern coat... but at least he still has his cape! :D And aww, cute little Whyman is right there on his belt! :)
10. And the baad science project is revealed to be... a TIME MACHINE... shaped like a Medusa... and being made with Whyman’s blessing :O
11. Wait, how would petrifying victims... how would that help? This part confused me...
12. Byakuya and the other astronauts wearing casual clothes and standing in little Senku’s laboratory... because they’re not super grand astronauts now; they’re six more members of humanity along with the other seven billion... :O They’re looking at little Senku (well the ones who have their eyes open), as if they trust him to save even them, too... :’) And then Senku looks so determined in the next panel, as if he’s really going to try to do it... :O :’)
13. Rei!! We even see Rei!! :D :’) I believe in you, Rei! :D
14. What an interesting roadmap! :) Because yes, it’s about a time machine, but also because many of those parts seem so complex that they could merit their own extra chapters. It feels like the story is over, but Inagaki and Boichi aren’t quite ready to let go of it yet, so they left themselves things they could expand on in bonus chapters that can be released on Dr. Stone anniversaries, as well as promotional periods for anime seasons and maybe even movie and game releases and stuff (like us getting Chapter 232.1 because of the Dr. Stone: Ryusui TV special).
15. We see panels with different characters... including a group panel with Kohaku (with Stanley next to her) in it! :) And of course, the very final panel is of Senku himself, telling us to get excited! :D :O
16. And the manga... if I were being a pessimist, I would say it’s officially over :’( But, if I were being an optimist, I would say it’s officially complete :’)
17. I have to say, I love Dr. Stone, but I wasn’t expecting the final chapter to be like this. I know it’s a science manga, and a shounen, and everything, but a lot of things were set up - Taiju and Yuzuriha, Chrome and Ruri, CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT (ahhhh! :D) AND CHAPTER 140 (ten billion percent my favorite chapter! :D) - that we didn’t get full satisfaction from. We don’t see the confessions :( (We didn’t even get a Senku/Kohaku moment in Chapter 232... whyyyyy????? :’( )
18. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY- sorry, I couldn’t resist XD
19. But anyway, if the series was going to end without those emotional moments being shown, I think that with with a few tweaks, Chapter 231 would have been a much better ending :)
20. Think about it - we’re on the moon; Senku conducted secret negotiations; and the result was a sentient, solitary, adventurous, Senku-like Whyman volunteering to go to Earth with Senku and the other heroes. And then we get a deep discussion about life, and Whyman’s “WHY” is finally answered :O
21. If, in the same chapter, you add their coming back to Earth; having a victory party; everybody resolving to revive all seven billion people; and Senku telling us to get excited... that could be the perfect ending right there! :D
22. (As a writer of Dr. Stone fanfiction, this might be the ending I end up going with in my writing, come to think of it :D)
23. Chapter 231 was so full of... mystery and life and heart, that... it would have been a great foundation for the ending. So after that, Chapter 232 almost feels more like an epilogue after the end of the story than the actual end of the story, if that makes sense.
24. Or, to put it another way, Chapter 232 sort of feels like Chapter 231.1? Still totally canonical, of course, but... not as... meaningful’s not the right word, but... Chapter 232 doesn’t quite measure up to the mysterious sense of awe and wonder that Chapter 231 has, in my personal opinion :)
25. Congratulations to Inagaki and Boichi (and Caleb Cook and Steve Dutro) on the successful conclusion of the Dr. Stone manga, and I hope it was everything that Inagaki, as the writer, dreamed it would be! :D And congratulations to us Dr. Stone fans as well - we finally learned the secret of the petrification, and we have hope for the future of Senku, Kohaku, and the other characters we’ve come to care so much about! :)
26. As Byakuya said in the first chapter of Dr. Stone: Reboot, “There’re about 8 billion humans down there, right? That’s 1.3 billion for each of us. And anyone carrying the weight of 1.3 billion people... can’t afford to fail!” :O With so many people to share the weight, and honor, of this all-important mission with with Senku, there’s no way they can fail! :D
27. And as for me, I shall go on to write about Chapter 232.1 (which I’ve already read)! :D

list of Whyman theories -
some of these are well thought out, some are just crack, and some are me throwing darts at the plot and hoping they stick 》》》
- Senku's bio parents: he says they were friends of Byakuya's but i dont think he ever clarified if he knew who they were or not. they were scientists who either created the medusa, or discovered alien technology. maybe they "disappeared" for knowing too much, leaving Senku with Byakuya
- Gen: bc we didnt have his backstory even tho hes such an important character - which does basically nothing for anyone lmao this makes little sense and feels like a lose/lose. the only support is that Gen can manipulate his voice freely but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it would provide ample angst. he calls himself the most selfish man on earth, that he'll always bet on the winning horse. he's also the person closest to Senku practically since they met
- an AI: but this does nothing to tell us WHO made it or what. evil NASA AI that went rouge? an AI trying to protect the world the only way it knows how????
- Niel Armstrong: the first moon landing was to plant Whyman. maybe they left one astronaut behind to run covert operations. petrified him for when the time came
- aliens: pushing right into the worst direction for the type of sci-fi this series is, but it would sure be interesting
- Senku himself: time travel shenanigans that happened to prevent idk some war or a similar disaster? he was trying to prevent the pandemic smh. older Senku already lived these events and created the medusa to save everyone. only in doing so created alternate branches of time. kinda like some Interstellar shit only less well throught out
- evil twin: Kuro is real and he just really hates his brother for being prettier than him
- Mecha-Senku: his mission was to cure humanity of illness but it resulting in Byakuya's death turned him evil, or a flaw in his operating system caused this mess to happen. maybe he misinterpreted the mission he was put on
- OH OH WHYMAN IS GEN'S MILF MOM !!! shes waiting for her son to come fetch his stupid science boyfriend
- ITS HYOGA!!! HES THE ONLY ONE WITH SCARS AROUND HIS MOUTH AND THAT SHOT WITH THE MOON BEHIND HIM ??!?! and he's already evil case solved
- DCST makes lots of allusions to different religions, what if its god? but like not a great one
- Senku's parents were reaserchers and died bc of the medusa? but it was classified so Byakuya never found out the truth
- time travel shenanigans but it was his parents
- Xeno paid someone so he could recreate the world in his vision and it backfired
- Stan stole the medusas from aliens to make Xenos dreams come true
- it was Yuzuriha from a parallel universe where shes evil

Soooo... since the asshole Kido is not their father, what are their origins? Since they come from all around the world and whatnot.
I don’t have all of them fully detailed (I mean, the group of Bronzes we know), but I have the main five and Jabu with a bit more of an explanation behind their origins.
[I made a digression on their Italian names here, you can skip if you’re not interested]
However, let me put a bit of a disclaimer here: part of this thing of “they have different nationalities” works really good for me because the have different names in the Italian dub, so I can avoid trying to explain why they all have Japanese names.  I am aware that people can have names of different origins (where’s the fun in naming a child if you’re not creative, come on), but this helps in adding a bit more diversity to these “orphans from mothers all around the world”.
Three of the main five don’t have a name in the Italian dub (Seiya, Shun and Ikki are called like their constellations, which is ridiculous but what can I do about it, so they kept their OG names), but for clarity, here’s the name changes of the others. Obviously, the changed names have different meanings:
Shiryu : Sirio (which is the name of a star in Canis Major, also known as Sirius in latin). Technically an Italian name, since Sirio is the Italianization of Sirius.
Hyoga: Crystal (or Cristal). I’m still convinced that they stole this from the Crystal Saint, it’s too funny. But, well, obviously you know what crystal means. Although, I believe it’s more of a girl name in English? I don’t know, names are weird.
Seiya, Shun, and Ikki: Pegasus, Andromeda, and Phoenix. Unfortunately. So they keep their original names.
Jabu: Asher. According to the internet, it’s a name of Hebrew origins and it’s the name of the son if Israel in the bible. As a surname, it has different origins.
Nachi: Black. You know what black means, so let’s move on.
Ichi: Aspides. I don’t know if the inspiration was what I found, but aspides is the plural form of aspis, a wooden shield used in Ancient Greece.
Geki: Gerki. Don’t know why this change was necessary. According to the internet this is just a rare surname, no meaning attached, a bit more common in the USA.
Ban kept his name, and the name can also have origins in languages other than Japanese (such as Slavic origins or Hawaiian origins). I obviously searched on google, so I might not be correct.
[End of the digression]
So, what are the origins of the Bronze Saints we know? Keep in mind: in my own headcanon (which is basically half-confirmed by whatever is going on in canon) Saints don’t have biological parents that are still alive. I think I elaborated on this on this blog, but I don’t remember. At some point or another, said parents passed away.
Seiya is the only one I kept as Japanese. Also, it’s a good time to mention that, in my rant about Shun and Ikki, I forgot that Seiya has an older sister too (but hey, they forget her constantly, I can’t be blamed that much).  As the Italian dub calls Tokyo (a name that I adopted with the headcanon of it being a different city because Tokyo is the New York of anime and I’m tired of it), he was born in New Luxor (yeah, Nuova Luxor in the dub, I like it a lot :D )
Shiryu is Chinese. I really like the idea of him simply going back to his origins upon discovering his training place.  He was born in Pingyao, where there is one of the Nine-Dragon Walls.
Hyoga is 100% Russian. Even though him being Kido’s son makes sense, I hate that old excuse of a man so here you go. Even if Natassia got pregnant on a one time thing, Kido can go cry his loneliness in his expensive pillows and stay away.  He was born in Oymyakon, the Russian settlement with the lowest registered temperatures ever.
Shun and Ikki are German. I like to think this because of the whole backstory for Pandora, Shun and Ikki in the Hades Chapter. Since she is German, I liked the idea of her being chosen by the twin gods to find a vessel for Hades because she was actually pretty close to him already.  They were born in Munich.
Jabu is Egyptian. This has a particular reason that came from both their early rivalry in the series and the Italian name for Tokyo. I wanted for there to be some sort of equivalence. He was born in Luxor (see what I did there).
Nachi is British, thanks to his Italian dub name “Black”. Kinda bizzarre, I know, but I couldn’t let go of the opportunity.  Never really thought about where he was born.
Ichi is Greek, thanks to his Italian dub name “Aspides”.  Again, didn’t thin about his birth place.
Ban could probably be Hawaiian (since his name has also Hawaiian origins if Internet didn’t lie to me), while I have no idea for Geki. Maybe he could be from the US, since the Italian dub name does exist in America.
This, in my opinion, gives them a bit more diversity. It doesn’t make sense to me that all the other Saints have different nationalities, but the Bronze Saints are all Japanese save for Hyoga (who’s still half Japanese in the manga). Saint Seiya always struck me as something full of diversity, and I really don’t want them to be so monochromatic, artistically speaking.

Anon here! I meant to ask for Hyoga headcanons sorry! I wrote Shun because I was reading your cute headcanons for him and the others and did word association, but I really like your headcanons and they seem really thought out!
alskdjlfskj yeah i was wondering, I’m glad you came back to clarify!! and thank you so much ;~; I love thinking hard about headcanons because I think it’s one of the best ways to understand characters ahaha. I’m glad it worked for you!! :DDDD anyways, some hyoga headcanons:
hyoga didn’t speak any japanese before he was orphaned and moved to japan. his mother only spoke russian to him before she passed, and despite him being half-japanese, there really wasn’t anyone present to teach him anything about it until he was adopted. he learned through trial by fire, essentially, and when you’re four or so, you can still pick up language fast--but only if you’ve got a good environment for it. hyoga, being scared and antisocial and grieving for his mother, didn’t really make friends well
there were two other orphans who tried often to make friends with him: one was shun, but that’s because shun tried to make friends with everyone at least once, even though he was largely bullied, and hyoga mostly ignored him until he gave up, and the other was a much more persistent boy who didn’t survive saint training. hyoga also mostly ignored him, but he learned japanese through constant, direct exposure. they weren’t close, but after the wars, hyoga finds out where he was sent, and visits to pay his respects to his grave
hyoga and shiryu speak the most languages out of anyone in their group at five apiece: hyoga speaks russian, japanese, greek, english and french, while shiryu speaks japanese, jiang-huai mandarin, standard mandarin, greek, and english. sometimes they mock-argue about it, and hyoga says he wins on a technicality since if they’re counting jiang-huai as a separate language even though it’s politically a dialect, then he actually wins because he speaks both southern and standard russian dialects, to which shiryu smiles and says, “if that makes you feel better ;)”
anyways the point is, hyoga speaks japanese with a very faint russian accent that’s nearly undetectable unless he’s agitated, and then it gets way stronger, like when he’s losing to seiya at super mario
wow that was just a lot of language headcanons
actually, I think hyoga and shiryu get quite close, especially after the war, because they share weirdly a lot of experiences, what with feeling both like diaspora in japan, even though they’re both half-japanese (i’m running with my “I think shiryu is half-chinese??” theory), being sent back to train near their birthplaces, losing eyes lmfao and never feeling quite at home anywhere.
hyoga is actually really into literature! i think i said before that that’s how he keeps up with his languages, but he also has a soft spot for russian folktales because it’s something he remembers his mother by and also is like. a little salty in his way? that he fights for a greek goddess and had to learn all this stuff about greek myth and is like :/ but what about the stories I grew up with?
anyways he’s a surprisingly animated storyteller and sometimes, during like, idk, bonfire nights? he’ll tell them all about rusalki and leshi and snegoruchka and the death of koschei
or maybe sometimes he’ll recite poetry! he doesn’t do it often because he’s not really like, a showman? but like. when the Vibes are Right.
when they’re older, they discover that the same stories told drunk are often hilarious, so sometimes they’ll ply him with some alcohol and clamor for their favorites
he has mixed feelings about religion: his mother was russian orthodox, but passed away so early that he never really like, got to experience it as a practice of faith. he was christened, and obviously he has that rosary cross, but that’s about it, besides like, you know, the way the faith of a parent is instilled in a child. he used to pray to saints when he was much younger and alone, but kind of like, in a way where he didn’t really understand. it’s also complicated because you know, greek gods? exist??? but in some ways, he still has a little of that childlike belief. he considers going back and getting confirmed in russia after the wars, since he missed the normal window for it training and fighting, but he’s not sure if it’s appropriate, if it’s what he wants, if it matters
he likes paintings and such, but he doesn’t really get it as much as he gets literature, but shun likes them, so they actually go to museums together quite often. hyoga is, however, weak for craftsmanship, and does eventually acquire a small, beautifully painted icon for himself, despite all of his conflicted feelings about his religion
hyoga, despite giving off touch-me-not vibes, actually really likes physical contact with people he trusts. for a a lot of their early friendship, seiya didn’t really touch him at all because he essentially got hissed at the first time he went to casually bump shoulders. but shun, being a person who likes physical touch and also somehow didn’t get the urge to seek it out beaten out of him, touches gently and reads boundaries well, so hyoga lets him in a lot earlier than anyone else.
ikki is kind of the same, actually? so honestly sometimes he and hyoga challenge each other to sparring matches just to like. touch another human person, even though neither of them acknowledges or really even realizes that that’s what they’re doing. :( fuck i got sad
hyoga prefers fruit popsicles to ice cream. why? idk it just feels right.
bonus shun language headcanon:
shun speaks some tigrinya, which he learned from june (i’ve decided this is her native language)--not fluently (which is why he doesn’t win the language contest, at least, not until he learns some russian), but enough to carry on private conversations when they don’t want to be overheard by others, but most of the time, they talk to each other in english or greek

Why I like Gen
@assagirigen on twitter dared me so-
Gen Asagiri is an interesting person.
When we first meet him he shows himself as a shallow man who wants nothing more than to be on the winning side. Does matter to him which side wins he just wants to be on that side. The reader already knows about Tsukasa and his plan at this point. We know he is killing older people and only letting the young live, so to hear Gen say he doesn’t care about that and saying he was leaning more to Tsukasa. was a great way of showing how shallow he can be. All though I don’t think he is as shallow as he claimed.
Right after he says all of this he saves Senkuu from being killed by Magma. At this point Gen only heard claims of what Senkuu could do and has no proof for himself. Gen’s mission was to make sure Senkuu was dead so if Gen stepped aside and let Magma kill him Gen would be done with his mission, but no Gen stands up to one of the strongest people in the village with only flowers. The moment Gen saw electricity in the stone world his thoughts of a harem were totally outweighed. (Literally. Chapter 24 last page) If Gen really was on Tsukasa’s side his harem would be more important to him, but Gen isn’t and even praises Senkuu saying “Y..You can’t be serious Senkuu!! In this completely empty stone world starting from zero! I can’t believe you really did it..”. At this point Gen has proof of Senkuu’s genius, but he still knows being in the Kingdom of science meant manual labor. Something he was not about. Still, he helped Senkuu by convincing Kinro and Girno to help with the generator. I think the moment Gen saw the light bulb he knew Senkuu could 100% bring back the old world.
In chapter 26 we see a flashback Tsukasa depetrified Gen. The moment Tsukasa says he killed a man (That at this point Gen had no idea who) Gen looks suspicious of Tsukasa.
In the same chapter we see the group talk about Gen and asking if he is a good guy. Chrome even asks if Gen is listening trying to rile him up. Gen blows off the statements from Chrome saying he is a silver tongue mentalist and he doesn’t care, but us the reader already know where his loyalties are. Even part of his name means loyalty. Asagiri, Giri (ぎり) being loyal/ duty. Gen walks over to the generator and runs his hand over it foundly. Even after Gen got stabbed and almost died by Magma he was still loyal to Senkuu and the kingdom of science. We find out that he used blood bags and that dulled some of the blows but it still left Gen hurt. One thing I want to point out quickly is when did Gen back the blood bags? You could say before he got to the village, but he didn’t know he would be attacked there. He was so confident in his flower trick why would he need blood bags? I think Gen knew he had to get away from Tsukasa because it wasn’t safe there. In chapter 50 we see another flashback where Gen thinks “It’ll be hard to break through with just eloquent words” when he looks at the blissfully happy people in the empire of might. Gen was planning to leave/ stop Tsukasa but he couldn’t do it alone. So what he said before was just a lie to see what Senkuu could do and if Gen was truly safe if he joined the kingdom of science. Gen heard what Kohaku said about if he didn’t go back to tell Tsukasa Senkuu was Dead Tsukasa was suely going to find out. Gen could have asked a lot of Senkuu seeing how smart he was, but no he just just asked for a cola.
The next morning Gen, still recovering, ran up a mountain to the empire of might. He makes it there and is clearly out of breath but waste no time telling Tsukasa that Senkuu was dead. In short Gen in that moment laced his fate with the Kingdom of science. If they went down so did he. Even adding “Without a shadow of a doubt”.
We don’t see Gen again for quite a bit of time but the next time we see him he says that “I need the kingdom of science to win this too,” He knows he had tied his fate with the Kingdom of science. He frames it like it is all for Cola but a few pages later Gen says “heh well, I don’t exactly think he is that nice of a person” When Gen finds the carbonic acid. Gen didn’t actually think Senkuu was going to make him a cola. When Gen walks back to the lab and sees the cola he is surprised too and the smile he had on his face while drinking the cola too says a lot about how this isn’t something he expected but an unexpected gift.
Gen is still a double agent in chapter 45 when he informs Senkuu that Tsukasa’s armies are coming. He still acts like he is just a shallow person but when Gen says that he is sweating and his scar is a bit beant. Gen puts himself in harm's way again By telling Hyoga goons that he is going to be a spy in the village. When Hyoga shows up Gen picks up on Senkuu’s plan and manipulates Magma into doing what Gen asks of him. Gen used his knowledge of Magma and his wants to help Senkuu. Gen made it look like the village had guns and forced Hyoga to retreat. Gen knows that will make the prideful idiots pissed off that they lost and they will want revenge as quick as possible so Gen brings up attacking during a storm. Gen leaves small trail flowers and makes small cuts into Hyoga’s spear with the hope that it will help save someone. Gen knows damn well how strong Hyoga is but he still risks his life making those cuts and leaving a trail. Gen has 100% of confidence In Senkuu and the kingdom of science and so officially sides with them. Even with a seemingly impossible goal of a phone Gen still gets the villages on Senkuu’s side and they help with the telephone.
Once Gen officially joins the kingdom of science we see him enjoying himself and actually smiling a lot more. He goes along with a meme, appreciates a christmas tree, and  he even does a little song while making batteries. (adorable). I also noticed that part of Gen’s manipulation is through his hand movements so when he is relaxed he hides his hands. (he does it a lot)
Chapter 54, Senkuu is visibly more stressed and then Gen notices he looks a bit sad. (excuse me fangirling) What does Gen do? Leave it be and let Senkuu be stressed? NOPE! He gets Senkuu up to watch the first sunrise of the new year. He even says “Changing the mood and refreshing one’s spirits… that is my job isn’t it?” Gen didn't say everyone. He said one’s like he knows Senkuu is worried and wants to help him relax a bit.
When Gen sees that Magma is clearlying going to try and kill Senkuu, Gen tells Mamga a quick story and saves both Chrome and Senkuu. I am guessing he told the same story to the village and convinced them to help with an observatory for Senkuu’s birthday. Did Gen have to do this? No. It didn’t do anything besides just make work for him (I swear this is not going to be a Sengen rant). The pleased face Gen has looking at Senkuu just says everything.
Not saying Gen isn’t still a manipulative person who will lie to get to his goals but it’s not really his goals anymore. It’s the goals of the kingdom of science Gen is now lying for. Even with his beyond crazy plan of tricking the Empire of might into thinking Lillian is still alive he knows that it’s wrong morally but that doesn’t matter. It will help take Tsukasa and Hyoga down. Gen was fully ready to be hated and hunted down by the others for lying but as long as they can save everyone that doesn’t matter.
Chapter 64,
Gen is with Chrome and Magma when they find the people that are going to be depetrified. Magma brings up just killing them and how that would just be the easiest thing. Gen’s logical side agrees and he says breaking them would be for the best, but right before Magma can smash the man Gen thinks about how the statue isn’t just a sauce but a human with a family, memories, and loved ones that would miss him. Gen stops Magma and says that they have done nothing wrong. “Even for a realist like me.. When the time comes that we take direct action we’re really weak aren’t we~? So weak…” Even though it would be the easiest plan Gen can’t bring himself to let people be killed.
Skipping the treasure arccc! I refuse.
American arc!
Last one alright. Gen is captured by Stan and is questioned about the leader of the ship. Gen being the master liar says it’s Taiju. Gen even apologized to Taiju for doing that to him. Gen knows he is in a lot of danger. This isn’t science v raw brute force anymore. This was science v science but still Gen remains loyal to Senkuu and buys him time.
Gen is full of cheap tricks he uses for the kingdom of science. While yes Gen is manipulative he uses it for good which I like. He could use it for his own gain but he never really uses his knowagle against people for his gain. Gen knows he is manipulative and is honest with himself about it. He was willing to take on the hate of others just to save other people. That’s why I love Gen Asagiri. (Also he’s design is great)

Their Own Secrets (Dr. Stone Fanfic)
Here’s another fic I wrote for that twitter prompt challenge. Almost 1.4k  words written in an hour XD
The prompt for this one is Secrets
Ao3 | ffnet
Asagiri Gen had a secret. Well, he had many, but this one in particular is one of the deepest darkest ones he has kept inside him and will probably be dragged to his grave. He woke up from the petrification, naked, cold and scared for his damn life. Shihio Tsukasa gave him an offer he could not refuse. It was more accept it or be left alone to die in the brand new stone world.
Then in an accident, he discovered something that no one else in the world has known.
There was a date carved crudely into a tree next to the so called “Miracle Cave”
Honestly, the carving was more of the miracle than the cave itself if you ever got Gen to admit it.
The carving was a date. The exact date that an unknown individual had broken from the stone, naked, maybe cold, and most definitely… alone…
Gen did not know how to comprehend this fact. It took him a while, but he finally accepted this truth.
Perhaps that's where it all began.
That he fell for this unknown person.
Once he met Ishigami Senku, finally a face was plastered into his mysterious carver. He did not expect him to be this handsome, chaotic, yet wonderful human being. And yet he did.
THis was perhaps the beginning of his crush on him?
He never really told Senku that he saw that date. Would he believe him?
“Hey, Senku-chan… I saw that onderfyl-way date you wrote on that tree when I just woke up. And it’s because of that, I dragged my ass down here and fell in love with you!” Gen said to himself quietly as he recalled the moments that led him to this moment, willing to backstab Hyoga and his men. And in turn Tsukasa as well. People who could snap his neck in one hand so easily.
No… It was not willing.
He is going to do it.
“Haha…. Like he will believe that…” Gen laughed sadly to himself. “I guess for now.. It will be my little secret…”
Little did Gen know, months later…
________________________________________________________________
Ishigami Senku had a secret too…
Before he met Asagiri Gen, before the world turned to stone, before he even met Ooki Taiju, his soon to be best friend, the young budding scientist had begun running his experiments outside. Also because, their landlord scolded both of them for causing another explosion in the building.
Senku was just about to end his experiments for the day, when he saw three figures approach him. From what he could tell, they were middle schoolers from the school next to his elementary school.
It wasn’t long until their intentions were shown.
A punch and a kick to his face had sent poor Senku off his feet and landed further away from his newly created machine. The young scientist still rushed in and tried to pry them off from stomping and crushing it, but it was to no avail, he was not only younger than them, he was physically weaker than them.
One of the bullies found him annoying and turned to throw a punch. Senku closed his eyes in anticipation of pain, but felt none.
He slowly opened his eyes and saw that he was not hurt, or rather, someone had dragged him away.
He quickly turned to see his rescuer to only see a young boy about a few years older than him, and looked like he came from the same middle school as these bullies. The most noticeable feature he had was the colours (yes, plural) of his hair. One side, the shorter one was black and the other, longer, was white.
The bullies were not impressed (which meant that he wasn't with them, Senku sighed in relief for that) and yelled at him to mind his own business.
The young boy who rescued him, looked up to them and gave them a smile. Senku was not the one for the emotions, but even he knew smiling at the face of someone who can hurt you was not the best thing to do. But somehow this boy told them something sweet and something that gave Senku the feeling that it was all a lie. And to his surprise, the bulles lowered their hands and legs, apologized to him, and squirmed away.
“Whew…” his saviour let out a huge sigh of relief, “That was so cary-say… Are you alright?”
Senku finally had a good look at the boy who saved him. Besides the hair, he has calm, yet cold lavender coloured eyes, and his fake smile from earlier, had changed from a warmer one. It was odd, but it did save his life, so Senku did not ask.
Rather, he first asked, “Why is your hair like that?”
The boy laughed at him, “You say that first, and not a thank you? Gee, you're welcome.”
“Well I…” Senku’s face flushed pink from embarrassment, “I was just curious… scientifically speaking…”
“You’re such a cute little scientist…” Senku didn't feel like he was lying for that one, “And since you are curious, I have a condition that is called “Poliosis” the doctor said something about part of my hair not having something “melanin” and such and that's why my hair is naturally like this!”
“Oh….. that makes sense…” Senku finally remembered hearing about that condition from one of the hard textbook about diseases he had read a few weeks ago. “And youre talking about melanin, it’s what's responsible for our skin and hair colour.”
“You know of it?” the older boy laughed again, “That’s impressive for a cute little scientist like you!”
“Well I have to since I have to learn all the sciences after all.”
“And, pray tell, why do you want to do that?”
“Because I wanna go to space as soon as possible!”
The older boy’s eyes widened as he heard the young scientist say it with a straight face. He didn’t know if he was to be shocked or impressed or both.
“Well… I guess compared to even me and everyone else I know…” He began again, “You seemed to be in leaps and bounds in science.”
“I still have a long way to go…” Senku huffed
“Then I wish you the very best of luck, my cute little scientist....” the older boy then in a sudden rush leaned closer to Senku and kissed him at the forehead.
Senku felt himself freeze and at the same time felt hot from the sudden affection on him.
“I have to go, now.” The older boy turned away blushing as he slowly walked away from him, “My parents will kill me if I’m not home by six… bye you cute little scientist!”
And with that, they both separated without even uttering their names.
Though after that, they never saw each other again, and was all but forgotten, when another kid at Senku’s age had protected him from the bullies this time.
Three thousand seven hundred and nineteen years later....
“And that is why my hair is like this…” Gen had just finished explaining the reasoning behind his hair colour to Chrome, Kohaku, Suika, and Kaseki.
“So like half of your hair doesn’t have that melanin stuff” Chrome asked
“That is correct Chrome-chan! It's…”
“It's responsible for the colour of your skin and hair.” Senku interrupted the conversation.
“As Senku-chan says!” Gen gave everyone a warm smile.
Senku figured it was Gen  that had saved him when he was younger, but hadn't had the time, or the courage to tell him.
For a while he wondered about his mysterious saviour, then forgot about it when he had met Taiju and Yuzuriha. But there were times that he still thought of him. Those two coloured hair…
When he met Gen, well he thought it was just a coincidence, then realized the probability of anyone having poliosis. When he remembered the sweet words he used he used the same to everyone he met, including him, he had little to no doubt that this was the young boy who saved him.
Because of this, the, what he thought was fleeting feelings for his saviour came back like the bullet train.
And whenever Gen turns to him, those same feelings hit him again.
But there were things that had to be done first. He couldn’t possibly let these distract him.
And yet… since Gen was here and is a part of them now… he wondered if he could ask him one day..
But for now… it will be Senku’s little secret...

The first time I was called a whore, I was between 11 and 12 and it wasn’t just me being called a whore... Trigger warning, mention of different kinds of abuse.
NOTE: I am a trans man, this happened when I was a kid, and of course I was born a girl, so that’s why I talk as a girl in this.  I was at my dad’s hometown, and my aunt thought it was a good idea I’d meet her friend’s daughter so I could have someone to hang out with since I was the youngest of all the cousins. Well call this girl Karen. The girl was going to the local pool and lent me a swimsuit. It was too big for me, but mine was too small for me and wouldn’t fit anymore, so I had no real choice. We went to the pool, had a great time, but then this one time when I jumped out of the water the suit, being too big for me, was pulled down by the water around my chest area so my chest showed. I had no boobs back then yet, but still the kids laughed and pointed. I was completely embarrassed and left with Karen shortly after that.  Karen told me the next day that the popular kid there thought I was a whore for that, I told her it was just an accident and that it wasn’t that big of a deal anyways because I was 11-12 and looked 10, so basically a kid, like them. Turns out all of them ranged from ages 13 to 15, I was the youngest and I didn’t know...  The guy who called me a whore was around 14 more or less, so that made me feel weird. We’ll call him Alan.  She insisted that Alan had said I looked like a whore and acted like one and that what was I gonna do about it. I told her nothing, I didn’t know him and I don’t like fights. She called me a pussy and then asked me if I ever had rum and coke. I told her kids aren’t allowed to drink and she took me to her father’s bar, and poured a huge glass of rum and coke for me, pressured me to drink some of it or she would tell her mum I was stealing. I felt really bad, my cousins were bullies and physically abused me, but this was on waaaay another level and I didn’t know what to do, my parents hadn’t had the “don’t let peer pressure get to you” talk with me and stealing is a felony and my dad is a lawyer, you can imagine how little 11-12 year old me felt in that moment. So I had some rum with coke... and puked it up. Rum is awful on it’s own, and only spiced rum tastes good with coke in my now adult opinion, this girl had emptied a bottle of rum with a 600ml bottle of coke in a pitcher and, mixed it halfheartedly and then gave me a tall glass to drink. It was more rum than coke and it seared my throat. She called e a pussy again, drank and puke it up as well, pouring everything down the drain. Then we went to her room to red magazines and listen to music till my aunt came for me, Karen warned me not to say anything about the drink.  The next day, we went to the pool again and I was informed by Karen that upon further inspection Alan didn’t think I was a whore, and that he wanted to kiss me. I was confused. I had never had kissed anyone before, and my crushes were reduced to the guy in ninth grade who had helped me with my books back when I was in seventh grade, Yue, Cygnus Hyoga, and Joe Asakura. I knew how kissing worked because of Mexican telenovelas, but it was something just adults did, and if kids kissed it was on the cheek and pretty awkward. I had never seen someone my age or even a bit older kissing. So I said it was fine, because to me they were kids as well and kids = kiss on the cheek, and I was taught those weren’t naughty. So I was taken to a kid’s slide, the ones that have like a little covered landing in the shape of a character’s head or something like that? Well, it was like that. Alan was there waiting with his friends, who looked like my older cousins: big, burly, jeering, and mean. I was instantly scared, I didn’t know what to do, but then I also wanted to ask like what I thought an adult acted, like they acted, so I steeled myself and sat next to Alan. He looked at me, told me I was cute, and then grabbed me by the waist and kissed me full on the lips. I was dumbfounde, confused, I thought it was a kiss on the cheek! He then started to try to french me and I pushed him off, shouting no. His friends laughed, he laughed and said “Yeah, you’re still a whore...” and slid down. Karen laughed and told me that I was stupid. I climbed down the steps crying and when her mum came for us she told her I had slipped and fallen on my butt and that’s why I was crying.  After that I went back a couple more times, and then I just didn’t want to go back anymore, I didn’t see the point in it any longer, it wasn’t fun anymore. I told my aunt I wanted to stay home and play there by myself. She didn’t think twice about it. A week later my mum came to Cananea to pick me up...
You might ask why I kept going back? Well, I’m an only child, I have no siblings and as I said my cousins were extremely abusive for some reason, my aunts and uncles doing nothing about it. So I was very lonely whenever I spent summers in Cananea, but I liked going there because my parents weren’t around. You know you have it bad at home when you prefer verbal, emotional, and physical abuse from teenagers than to hang out with your parents... But there’s a limit to what I was willing to put up with to hang out with people my age... Sexual harassment is one of those hard limits...   Sadly, a year later I was taught I wasn’t sure if I had boundaries or not when it came to loneliness, so yeah... Thank you for coming to my TedTalk, tune in next week when I have another emotional melt down and I tell you about the time I was groomed till the next day by a pedophile and that fucked up the way I view relationships with men...

What are your thoughts on the recent manga developements? Like the climax of the vs stanley arc and the suika mini arc etc, idk ive just been loving the recent chapters and wanna hear more talk about it and your rants so far have been really entertaining ^^
Tumblr media
ANON FCGB;;;😳
WELL i did make an entire playlist based off those 3 suika chapters so i guess you could say i’ve been enjoying the current arc gfgfh. ok here are my VERY extended thoughts on the last 10ish chapters under the cut (manga spoilers obv) (LUCY DON’T READ THIS ONE FR) (also cw for like.. discussion of diseases and stuff tho i dont go too much into detail, i’m not an actual doctor obviously dfgdfg)
Tumblr media
this ended up being way longer than i expected so i tried breaking it into a few sections and adding images to make it easier on the eyes, i’ve really loved the south america arc as a whole but these last few chapters have been especially amazing
vs stanley climax
first of all, i gotta love how you called it the "vs stanley fight", and i mean, you're technically right since he is the antagonist of this arc, but it's interesting how they never have a direct faceoff with stanley, it's more like stanley and his troops attacking super one sidedly in a way the kos can't really fight against, so they use communication between their different teams to trap stanley & co in a situation they can't run away from and win in the long term
Tumblr media
i love that dr stone "fights" are most often won strategically rather than in a straight up 1v1 brawl, in fact those more standard fights are most often used as a way to keep the enemy at bay until senku & co can figure out a way to actually win, also it's just really cool that the team that delivered the final blow was thousands of miles away from where the actual fight was taking place, or even hundreds of thousands if you count whyman as the "person who delivered the final blow"
stanley theorizes at the end that the kos will probably keep his statue as a hostage to make xeno work for them on the rocket if he wants stanley back (lmao gay), but considering their track record of letting past enemies join the crew, i have a feeling we’ll have both xeno and stanley (and the rest of the americans) back rather than just xeno
Tumblr media
the only antagonist so far that hasn't been redeemed is ibara, who is just being kept as a stone statue somewhere, but you could tell that would be the case based on his design alone, he just screams *irredeemable villain*
Tumblr media
xeno and stanley, while antagonists, are also clearly designed to be likeable characters, so i don't see them getting the same treatment
the only problem would be keeping a constant watch over xeno to make sure he doesn't do any Side Projects™ and develop firearms again, but it could also be that xeno was actually convinced of senku’s philosophy in their last talk before the beam hit, so maybe he will be willing to help even without having stanley be a hostage, but i guess we’ll just wait and see
Tumblr media
as a side note, whyman periodically sending the petrification command was basically a chekhov's gun now that i think about it, so it makes sense in a meta way that a second worldwide petrification would happen, why establish it if it wont come into play later in the story? i actually felt kinda dumb for not seeing it coming fgdfg
Tumblr media
aftermath/suika chapters
the first strategy they had for defeating stanley was a good one, but it wouldn't really make for good storytelling if it just Worked and they won just like that, it would be pretty anticlimactic after running from him for almost 20 chapters, so it makes sense then that what they had to go with in the end was the same strategy, but on a much bigger scale
Tumblr media
suika being the one to be depetrified first and have to save everyone is also a good choice both thematically and to make sure the victory isn't too easy
having someone like senku or chrome who understands the platinum method to make revival fluid and then have it done in less than a day, or having suika simply find some extra revival fluid lying around like she was initially planning would, again, be anticlimactic, it would've lacked impact after everything they've been through
these 3 chapters also nicely bring back the theme of science not being exclusive to the “pros”, everyone can use it as long as they have the proper steps to follow, the most impressive example before this was the corn city crew managing to make a diamond by following senku’s instructions despite not having any scientists on board (and before that, gen and the villagers making a telescope)
Tumblr media
and now suika is even more impressive, being a literal child and all, even though she wasn't able to understand the more complex methods, there was still a way for her to succeed, all she needed was to be patient and diligently go at it step by step, i adore these 3 chapters and i love suika so much now it's insane
Tumblr media Tumblr media
suika being the one to get revived serves another purpose as well...
honestly, already around 188/189 i was starting to get really worried about how the story would handle the emotional aftermath
shonen jump manga has a tendency to just gloss over the psychological consequences of traumatic events (one moment i remember finding really frustrating was in bnha, when kirishima gets really fucked up during the overhaul arc but the next time we see him he’s just joking around about looking like a mummy because of all his bandages🙄), so i was worried they wouldn't treat the aftermath of an event like this with the gravity it deserves, (i think LITERALLY DYING could be considered a traumatic event but i'm no psychologist🤔)
Tumblr media
suika’s time alone shows a nice contrast to senku, while senku is definitely not emotionless, during his time alone before taiju was revived he is still very cool and collected, not showing any emotional weakness like the king of repression he is
suika is a whole different story, she’s a kid, she doesn't repress her emotions like senku does, so during her time alone she is scared and lonely, especially at the beginning, we see her breaking down into tears multiple times, imagining her friends statues talking to her, hugging kohaku’s statue for comfort etc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this really provided the emotional catharsis i was hoping for, through suika, the audience is genuinely able to feel the gravity of what has happened
i do wish more of the older characters could be allowed to show emotional weakness like this, but i guess having suika serve as a proxy for everyone works well enough
on that note, senku was alone for only 6 months and even then its implied in treasure island that he may have a problem with loneliness
Tumblr media
suika on the other hand was alone for YEARS, i can only imagine how that affected her mental state, tho honestly i can't say i expect the story to delve into something like that too deeply (or at all) since this is a shonen manga after all..
immortality
i’ve seen some people interpreting hyoga’s resurrection in 197 as “they can revive somebody that died from an injury, but people will still die eventually due to old age”, but i don’t think that's really the case, people don’t just die from “old age” by itself, they die because their body slowly degrades over time, which makes it harder to fight against numerous diseases, one of which will eventually get you and kill you
but dr stone (aka the combination of medusa+revival fluid) can nullify that degradation and bring your body back into a healthy state, we’ve already seen this with kaseki on treasure island where senku explains that dr stone healed his arthritis, a disease which probably would have lead to his natural death sooner or later
Tumblr media
while we already know kaseki was in better shape than most people his age, it’s still surprising to see an old man like him jumping around so energetically, thats how much the restoration improved his health
we also know it healed mirai who was brain dead before being revived, so i think it's a pretty safe bet that it can heal other brain related diseases such as alzheimers
if so, then dr stone can heal injuries, diseases and even death as we’ve seen with hyoga, i think it’s pretty accurate of senku to say that humanity has gained immortality with it
Tumblr media
honestly this development has been a long time coming, the idea of dr stone being able to bring back the dead was introduced as early as the first arc when tsukasa killed senku but taiyuzu were able to bring him back, but it really does seem like such an out there concept so i’m interested to see how they will base it in science... (and also how they will handle the whole… moral dilemma of immortality but i ain't ready to even attempt to think abt any of that)
my favourite theory that has sprung up from this is that if people really can live forever thanks to dr stone, it could be that whyman is actually a normal human who has been continually petrifying and reviving themself to live for 3700 years
wat will happen nixt?
back when 196 came out it kinda dawned on me just how much the crew has been set back in the progress they've made so far that it was giving me anxiety for real gfgdfg
seven years have passed, and in that time a lot of the tools they've made must have degraded, along with that, everyone they've revived so far has been turned to stone once again, there was nobody to upkeep the wheat fields and sundial and basically everything they've left in japan, and after all this time even the perseus must be in bad shape and in need of repair, as chrome suggests
Tumblr media
how long will it take them to repair the ship? to repair all the tools they've lost? their original plan was to go around the world building cities where they can get all the materials to work on that rocket they’ll be making eventually, they already kinda started up corn city, but that has been out of commission for a while now, they were planning to build superalloy city in south america and have barely started on that
so they need to keep building these cities but also need to go back and revive everyone if they don't want their progress to go to waste, how will they go about this?? will they just tackle it one by one or split into teams, so one team can stay behind and work on superalloy city and the other can go back and revive everyone? who knows?? ryusui certainly made it sound way easier than how i've been imagining it dfgdfg
Tumblr media
other than that, i gotta wonder are the kingdom of science really the only humans left on earth now that there's been a second worldwide petrification, or has some other group revived somewhere during the timeskip, OR maybe there might be another group out there who also devised the revival formula and was able to escape the 2nd petrification, which would then give them 7 more years to develop while senku n co are just stuck in stone 🤔 dr stone has always had some human antagonist so i wonder who’s next now that xeno and stanley have been dealt with
honestly my favourite arc has always been age of exploration precisely because it doesn't have any human threat and the characters are just left to craft and work on rebuilding society without the pressure of a looming war or a crazy american hunting them down, so honestly i'm hoping we will get another arc like that now, i think the crew definitely deserves it dnjd
random bonus ramblings
-using poop and shells to create nitric acid and it being a process that would take a long time is something that has already been mentioned multiple times in the series, so it’s really cool to see it actually utilized in the story rather than being random throwaway info
Tumblr media
makes you wonder what other seemingly throwaway lines could actually be foreshadowing...
Tumblr media
😬😬😬
-since joel managed to fix a medusa im very excited for him to be revived so we can learn how he did it and how the petrification works in the first place!! (and for joel and kaseki to finally meet in general)
Tumblr media
-drst has a habit of introducing a character in one arc and having them be Just kinda There for some time until they finally have their time to shine in a later arc, examples being minami and of course yuzuriha, so i'm wondering if the same will happen later on with some of the americans, charlotte seems like a good contender for this (the girl that suika saved in 185, i gotta wonder how she felt having to shoot down the people who saved her life)
Tumblr media
-on that note i feel like matsukaze also still hasn’t had his time to shine or contribute in any unique way yet (other than exposition gdvdj)
-i was also really liking dr brody as a character so i was kinda disappointed that he just blindly decided to kill everyone in corn city instead of talking and trying to come to an agreement w them like he has been up till then (though i guess it was necessary for the plot🙄), interested to see what they do with him as well
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-i wanna see stanxeno on screen makeout sesh 🙄!
-will senku not losing his petrification cracks be explained? if he still has them, will xeno, stanley, luna etc still have theirs too? (honestly i hope so, i don’t wanna have to stare at xeno’s big shiny forehead for the rest of the series gsdhgfd)
ok i feel like i've finally exhausted all the numerous thoughts i had sdfdfd thank you for giving me an excuse to ramble on for so long and congratulations if you've managed to make it til the end <3
in conclusion

I have been enjoying my Friday evening anime lately. My fea. For those of you that were around last week, you might remember that Dr. Stone broke my heart in a pretty and delicate way that really upped both me appreciation and expectations for the show.
That’s a double edged sword (unlike katanas). Sure Dr. Stone has build up a lot of good will with me but now that I know what this show is capable of, I’m not going to be as forgiving either.
What I thought Would Happen
We already knew that the Kingdom of Might was coming. (By the way these Kingdom monikers are a little silly but I’m all for it, they make keeping who’s who straight in your mind, really easy). The way I was picturing it, is that Senku would take the news with the usual laugh of his, well he did last episode so I get no credit for that, and start devising a defence plan.
I figured this week would be another fetch quest and a new invention. Not sure what though. Landmines seems unreasonable and too gruesome. It would make the Kingdom of Science look like that bad guys. Giant mechas were too ambitious. I thought about it a lot. I was hesitating between some type of ancient stun gun, maybe even stun net? Or just a series of really good pit falls and booby traps. Non lethal stuff. Although holes aren’t the most impressive feat of science.
One thing’s for sure, I 100% thought they were going to go defensive rather than offensive. Or maybe even leave and discover some type of scientific mecca to settle in.. It wasn’t really that clear in my head but you know, more sciency stuff.
What Did Happen
Apparently Tsukasa’s side is not the procrastinating type. Gen was supposed to be an advanced unit but they got there about 5 minutes after he did. So much for elaborate defence plans and fetch quests. Of course, Senku is still very quick on his feet and manages to bluff his way out of an immediate assault by convincing the enemy they had working guns.
This didn’t last too long though as it turns out, these new enemies are led by another very strong opponent named Hyoga. Although not as brutishly powerful as Tsukasa, Hyoga seems quite smart and a very good judge of both characters and situations. As Gen is still playing triple agent (or is it quadruple now? I lose count) it seems like Hyoga did not fall into the trap Senku was setting. But acted as if he did nevertheless, by attacking during the first storm as Senku new he would.
The villagers were ready for the assault with the strongest warriors laying in wait, equipped with their new ace in the hole. Actual katanas. A weapon whose manoeuvrability and efficiency made quick work of the attackers’ spears until they run up against Hyoga wielding a special seemingly undefeatable weapon.
However Senku’s true ultimate weapon had not yet been revealed. Blades may manage to scratch you but betrayal is the deepest cut. That was so cheesy. Sorry guys….
What About the Characters
Hyoga really is an interesting new villain. He’s good humoured, obviously smart, he seems to like everything…By far the scariest guy we’ve seen so far. I don’t know what his motivation to be with Tsukasa is and I’m intrigued. Senku has his work cut out for him.
This said, between the violent golden boy Tsukasa, the social genius Gen and now this mastermind type Hyoga, how did Taiju even survive? Is he alive? Why would they leave him alive?
Anywho, I already liked Gen because I have an unhealthy love of well meaning trolls but man was he fun this week. It’s not that we got much development for him, in general most of the characters have been pretty static, but it was just such a fun character moment.
The thing about Gen, and about tricksters in general, is that their strength is both their vice and a reason to dislike them, and at the same time super useful and a great way to save the day in a large variety of situations. That’s why a well written trickster is probably never going to be a straight up hero but is also very difficult to hate. And I find them amusing to watch.
What I Liked
This episode flew by in the blink of an eye. Like I said I quite enjoyed Hyoga.
In the early scenes, there is a point where things look quite bad for Kinro and it seems like Ginro may need to sacrifice his brother in order to save the village. His reaction was actually very touching and I didn’t expect that from the character. Kudos for still surprising me after last week.
We finally got some .decent fanservice. Woohoo Kaseki! Not only that but it was accompanied by a pretty dirty double entendre. Oh my!
For some reason, I just noticed that Gen calls everyone “chan”. He’s always done it but I didn’t pick up on it until just now. It’s not translated and the implications of Gen calling Tsukasa “chan” are not brought up in any way. It’s such a Gen thing to do and now that I have noticed, it makes me happy.
Now that we know the origin story, you can really see the resemblance between the villagers and the space station crew. In fact, if I look through all the villagers, I bet I can figure out their origins. And everyone from the space station is represented… except for two. Byakuya is one. Everybody in the village looks like one of the crew members but no one really looks like Byakuya. Well maybe Kinro a bit. They have the same eyebrows. But not as much as his non-biological son Senku. And then there’s Chrome. Chrome actually looks quite a bit like Taiju but not much like anyone else. Including any of the other villagers. I wonder why that is? Oh it’s in the like section because I like that they bothered to create the family resemblances and I like that the exceptions make me think up conspiracy theories.
The mechanics of Gen’s betrayal and defection were very satisfying.
What I Liked Less
Well let’s see.
Tsukasa’s big thing is that adults are corrupt and he wants to recreate a pure world by only reviving young people. Under 18 I guess. That’s why he actively destroys statues of adults and has vowed to not let Senku revive any. So then why do Hyoga’s henchmen look like they’re all in their late 30s. The fight against the chief at some point (Kohaku’s dad) and they are definitely the same age, maybe older.
At some point Suika tracks down Gen through the flowers in the forest. But those are planted flowers growing our of the soil. How did that work? When did he plant them. Had they need waiting for that storm to come for months? I think I actually missed something there to be fair but I didn’t like that device. It feels a bit lacklustre for Gen
Closing Thoughts
Of course Dr Stone could maintain the emotional resonance it built up in the last weeks. And frankly I wouldn’t have wanted it to. This was an amusing return to form. The quick paced action made it go by in a flash and left me wanting more.
Mood: exhilarated
Gen’s innocent face is the best!
