Kiss of the Molten Sun as the Moon Shines

It has been 10 centuries since Mu Qing gave up his godhood, wanting to restart as a mortal once again without any responsibility as the Crown Prince’s Assistant or as a God. As much as it pained Xie Lian to see him go, he couldn’t be stopped with his wish.

“Ah, when will these paparazzi go already???” Mu Qing can’t help but sigh exasperatedly as he checks the mass of paparazzi in front of his condominium, patiently waiting to get something out of him.

“Lian-ge said I should wait till they disperse but I already want to go get something to eat… smoke or drink whatever…” He adds as he goes in his closet to get some clothes, after all, he’d rather get caught by paparazzi buying food than starve himself by avoiding them.

It’s 2024 and Mu Qing managed to retain his face from the past, but not his memories. He’s been living as an idol in the entertainment industry. As far as it goes, it has been a pain in his ass if it wasn’t for his manager, Xie Lian, who kept him in the right path.

Mu Qing went down using the private elevator right down in the basement parking lot, not expecting another swarm of cameras this time, by media reporters waiting for him to get out of his condominium. He’s starting to regret getting out of his door and would rather die of starvation in his room than deal with the press. That is until he sees a man clad in black about to ride his motorcycle out of the complex. Quickly making a run towards the man, running past every reporter who tried to grab him for an unsolicited interview.

“I’m really sorry for intruding but please just go with the flow. I can pay once we’re in a much more secluded place. Away from here please.” He sort of pleads but convinces the man as he was handed an extra helmet for him to use. He quickly puts the helmet on before they zoomed out of the parking lot, but not fast enough for them to not get tailed by several cars of reporters or paparazzi, Mu Qing can’t help but sigh as he looked back at the cars tailing them.

“Hold tight, we’ll lose them.” The man looked over his shoulder as he spoke. Mu Qing never held onto someone tighter ever until tonight as they zoomed through the city slowly losing the tailing cars, his heart never losing a fast pace as it still races while he holds onto the man with a familiar deep voice.

They finally stopped in a convenience store on the outskirts of the city. A rather sketchy place for an idol like Mu Qing to be seen at, but he’d rather be here than the loud city with endless of camera flashing before him. Maybe it was just a twisted joke how the mysterious guy managed to get him into his safe space, the only convenience store open in his hometown at this hour. He turns to the mysterious man, only for air knocked out of his lungs as he was welcomed by a frown.

Curious stern golden eyes like the molten sun stares back at him, cautiously studying him as he took his time to get his grip after the fiasco. The man’s mask was drawn down onto his chin, revealing his chiseled face. Mu Qing knows him very well, no wonder his voice sounded familiar in his ears.

“Feng Xin…” he says, pulling his mask down to get the other to recognize him.

“I figured it was you since you came up to me in the parking lot.” Feng Xin replies, making the other exhale as he tried to massage his forehead. Out of everyone that Mu Qing can ask for help with the dozens of medias wanting to get something out of him, the universe picked his rival in the industry, Feng Xin.

“I- Look, I’m really sorry for dragging you into this. I’m going to get something to drink and eat. Can I get you something or are you going to wherever you were originally headed to?” he asks, dodging the taller man’s piercing eyes.

“I’ll have a drink, you choose. I don’t want to leave you here so come back out. Quick.” Feng Xin replies sternly but an air of smug lies underneath his stern voice, making Mu Qing roll his eyes before making his way inside the store.

It has been 5 centuries since Feng Xin gave up his godhood after Mu Qing and Xie Lian did, wanting another restart with his best friends in a better setting, a better world. Unlike Mu Qing and Xie Lian’s passing, where most of their closest circle were present, Feng Xin’s passing was rather lonely. He passed in the comfort of his abandoned joint shrine with Mu Qing, just around the vicinity of Puqi Shrine, with no one but him inside. That was 5 centuries ago and today, he lives as an idol with the memories of the Martial God of the Southeast after he met Xie Lian, who also suffered from remembering everything that happened centuries before them. By the looks of it, even under Xie Lian’s care, Mu Qing never got ahold nor suffered from remembering his past life before this. A good thing for the younger man to have in this life.

As Feng Xin stood outside to wait for Mu Qing, he can’t help but light a cigarette to pass time until the younger comes back. It was pure coincidence that he was on his way out as Mu Qing needed help in escaping the media waiting for him like hungry predators, waiting to pounce on their prey all at once.

“I brought you honey lime tea. Your wiki page said you don’t really like sweets, but you do smoke so I figured some honey lime tea can help with your throat.” Mu Qing starts as he threw the bottle towards Feng Xin as he went over to place the plastic bag onto the bike.

“That’s rather thoughtful of you…” he replies, scanning Mu Qing for any reaction, but the younger only shrugged as he took a bite from his sandwich and a sip from his own bottle of honey lime tea.

“You’re not smoking, nor drinking, are you?”

“I’d rather not get caught with beer in my hands on the sketchy part of the city in the middle of the night with my supposed rival.”

“Well, with the stand of your issue right now. All you need is a diversion.”

“Lian-ge tried to get every possible diversion he could get his hands onto to save my ass from the issue, but the media keeps on connecting nonsensical shit.”

“Romance is the copium of media when it comes to idols, aside from drugs, harassment, and bullying.”

“Who even thought that I’m gonna be a third party in Lian-ge and Chengzu’s marriage, like fuck I slept over there when I passed out over dinner that we usually have. Lian-ge had to leave early for the airport and suddenly I’m issued as the nation’s third party because I exited Chengzu’s car holding my clothes as if I’m walking the walk of shame. FUCK’S SAKE I AM NOT! THOSE WERE MY CLOTHES FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE AND I BORROWED SOME OF CHENGZU’S OLD CLOTHES SINCE LIAN-GE’S CLOTHES ARE TOO TIGHT ON ME.” Feng Xin remained silent as mental images of Mu Qing in tight clothing flashed before him.

‘Hideous,’ he thinks as he drags another smoke from the cigarette.

“Basically, why I’m suggesting you to have another romantic issue to cover the ongoing issue of you hooking up with your CEO behind your beloved manager’s back.” Feng Xin states as a matter of fact.

“…Right… then I can finally get rid of the ongoing issue, but I can’t randomly declare someone as my lover without the media asking for proofs. Additionally, that’s another issue I have to run away with! The point became pointless, somehow…” Mu Qing huffs as rants while finishing his meal, if it’s considered a meal to begin with.

“You know what, just take a cig and smoke your thoughts away. I’m sure you can come up with a way through all this shit after a stick.” Feng Xin says softly, offering Mu Qing a stick and his lighter.

“I don’t smoke as you said, I bought honey lime tea since it’s my favorite.” Mu Qing declines as he gently sits on the seat of the bike.

‘Same old favorites, but not same old memories of my Mu Qing…’ a whisper invades Feng Xin’s thoughts, making his mind go blank with what to reply towards the younger’s statement.

“I’ll teach you. Only if you want…” Feng Xin offers, side-eyeing Mu Qing who gave a nod.

“Ugh! Fine fine. I guess I also need something to destress with, my hair’s growing gray with all the stress.”

“Alright. I hope you’re not awkward with close proximities, this method’s the easiest for beginners.”

“Are you a smoking master now?”

“No, but I’ve been smoking since high school, in case you forgot we used to go to the same school. I just learnt how to smoke the hard way.” Feng Xin steps closer to Mu Qing slowly leaning down onto his height as he stayed sat on the bike.

“W-what…”

“Here’s how it goes pretty rascal; I take a drag of smoke. You stay put and keep your mouth open as if you’re about to sip or blow some soup. I will then exhale the smoke slowly close to your lips and then you will have to slowly suck it, then you’ll exhale slowly after a few seconds. Got it?” Feng Xin explains as simply as he can for the younger to catch up quicker.

“I think…” Mu Qing replies softly.

“Sure?” Feng Xin asks again, staring through Mu Qing’s eyes to search for any bit of hesitation, but not a single bit of hesitation can be seen as the younger inhales deeply.

“Yes…” Mu Qing replies with finality this time.

Feng Xin slowly takes in a drag of smoke before leaning closer to Mu Qing, placing his right hand at the base of the younger’s nape. Slowly caressing Mu Qing’s cheek with his left hand to help him ease up, to which he did as he parted his lips in a relax manner, slowly angling their lips in a rather intimate way. Feng Xin slowly exhales the smoke into Mu Qing’s parted lips. He watches as the younger closes his eyes to concentrate in absorbing every smoke that the older releases into him. After a few seconds, Mu Qing slowly exhales the smoke before he coughs lightly. Feng Xin catches Mu Qing’s eyes as it opened and tinges of bliss lights up his silver orbs.

“I think I figured how to get away with the hookup issue…” Mu Qing softly starts, almost in a whisper.

“Hmm? Care to tell...?” Feng Xin asks, gently caressing the base of Mu Qing’s nape.

“You…”

“Me...?”

“Why yes, I think it’s just fitting that my supposed lover before, be my lover in the present as he deserves the title of being my lover. Don’t you think so, General Nan Yang?” Mu Qing whispers a light tone of smug and teasing plays underneath the hushed confession.

“My, my beautiful, Mu Qing. Remember me now?” Feng Xin leans a tad bit closer, searching deep into Mu Qing’s silver orbs like how the moon shines in the late evening for the truth, if his lover has indeed remembered everything from centuries ago.

“My heart longed for you… Xin-ge…” The nickname sent shivers down Feng Xin’s spine, making him inhale sharply.

“I too, have longed for you, my lovely Mu Qing. My heart and my soul longed for you-” Feng Xin’s confession was cut off as a flash of a camera followed by dozens more, broke their bubble.

“Confess later, shut up and kiss me now please.” Mu Qing lets out a soft airy giggle before Feng Xin kissed him in front of every media and paparazzi camera surrounding them, longing, and passion pent up through the years can be felt pouring between their kiss.

“MU QING! ONE WORD PLEASE! WHAT ARE YOU AND YOUR RIVAL, FENG XIN???”

“DIDN’T YOU JUST HOOK UP WITH YOUR CEO LAST LAST WEEK? IS HE YOUR NEW HOOK UP???”

“MU QING! FENG XIN! A WORD PLEASE!”

The loud shouts of the press bombarded them as they broke the kiss, smiling towards each other as they finally reunited after centuries of longing.

“Alright, a word and leave us alone for the coming week. Or you’ll have to deal with our lawyers in the court, yeah?” Feng Xin gambles as he stands back up while putting the helmet onto Mu Qing. To which most of them nodded, knowing Feng Xin’s reputation of suing every reporter who defied his gamble.

“He is my beloved. We’ve been together for a long time now, so that petty issue of yours can go in the trash before your company follows.” Feng Xin states, a smirk proudly wiped the frown off his face as he wore his helmet.

“My my, strong beloved lover. For years now.” Mu Qing states while he holds onto Feng Xin’s toned torso as they rode back to their condominium complex for some peace in their night.

Bingqiu "Marry Me" AU where mega pop idol Luo Binghe's third marriage is set to be a hugely public concert event, only shortly before the segment where he is actually supposed to get married, footage goes viral of his fiance Sha Hualing swapping spit with rival starlette Liu Mingyan.

So when Luo Binghe gets on stage, he decides to point out a random person from the crowd and marry that person instead.

He picks out math teacher Shen Yuan, who ostensibly only came to this concert because his meimei is a huge Sha Hualing fan and didn't want to go alone. (Lies -- he bought the tickets well in advance, and is a madly obsessed Binghe fanboy.)

Wangxian "Marry Me" AU where idol princess Jiang Yanli is all set to marry corporately-arranged match Jin Zixuan in a big public event, except Jin Zixuan jilts her at the altar.

To cover it up and save his foster sister's identity, controversial rockstar Wei Wuxian "hijacks" the wedding and declares that actually this whole thing was a cover-up so that he could get gay-married to his secret lover and former rival from their teen years, Lan Wangji! Otherwise their management teams would stop them! Of course this is a lie, he's barely been able to speak to LWJ for the past ten years, but he's planning for Lan Wangji to turn him down in disgust and to be like 'oh no he broke up with me' and keep the gossip columns focused on that rather than Jiang Yanli's humiliation.

Except, then Lan Wangji gets on stage and uh... marries him?

Hualian "Marry Me" AU where famous celebrity duo Xie Lian and Jun Wu are supposed to get married in a big public celebration/concert, only for someone backstage to film Jun Wu locked in a heated embrace with Xie Lian's own manager, Mei Nianqing.

Midway through dealing with this public reveal and trying to decide if he's still going to go through with the wedding or not, some of the hastily-erected scaffolding above the stage gives out, and Xie Lian ends up catching the (presumed) production worker who basically drops out of the sky and into his arms.

Taking it as a sign from the heavens, Xie Lian marries this random 'San Lang' instead. (San Lang is in fact a wanted criminal named Hua Cheng who broke into concert.)

As far as I remember, there was an arranged marriage between wwx and Iwj, but on the next day/a week after the wedding Iwj goes to see wen qing, which makes wwx miserable and yzy mad because of his "incompetence" as a spouse. Then there was a discussion between sect leaders, including wrh, where wrh announced that wq will become Iwj's concubine and their children will be considered Iwj's and wwx's. Wwx accepts the terms, but is shocked, mad and heartbroken beecause he concludes that it was planned in advance and Iwj is in love with wq. He does not try to listen to lwj, warns him not to touch him and runs away to a cottage in yiling (maybe? And maybe owned by jc or jyl) where he usually resides when mdm yu gets mad at him and kicks him out of the main sect territory

He takes in some homeless kids, including xy, as his little students?/adoptees? and i think mm is his servant, and he chills with them and makes talismans for common people maybe, remaking his reputation which suffered after the marriage fiasco. There was also a ghost of a woman who was in the house and was looking at wwx silently but in a very sad way (maybe possibly it could be madam lan or just undisclosed ghost lady)

There was a scene when wq comes to visit him. She has a lan ribbon on her arm which makes wwx heartbroken again. She somehow explains without apologising that everything is not as it seems and that it had to be done to save her family. It all makes wwx feel like he was outcasted by everyone in the knowledge of the situation for no real reason and with no care for his own reputation and life. Also I think mm who previously thought that she and wq were maybe friends says after the talk that it seems like they are not really friends because wq seems to treat her not as an equal but as a friendly servant instead

Then something something with wc and I remember a scene in a cave where wx and Iwj are trapped and somehow kiss, and then Iwj is like pulling himself away and mentioning wq, which makes wwx miserable because there is possibly a soulmate thingy? btw them and he feels awful

And then i remember jzx, who is maybe friends with Iwj, being mad at wwx for something and asking if he knew what Iwj did for him and wwx has absolutely no idea

The latest chapters I remember included some nsfw, more angst and misunderstandings, and possibly Iwj blaming wwx for pretending to ignore/knowingly hiding the fact that they are soulmates and wwx being scared that his kids will be taken away from him and given to the lans. And there was a heavy sence that there are lots of things happening wwx has no idea about, including (possibly) lwj's letters to him

12. hi! this my first time sending an ask to this blog so I'm a little unsure if I'm doing this correctly but I'm trying to find this fic where JC noticed an older disciple acting weird/inappropriate with WWX at Lotus Pier when they were kids so JC informs JFM and JFM gets super angry and kicks the older disciple out of the sect or something along those lines. 14. Hey there! I’m having trouble finding this one specific fic. It is wangxian. Wei Ying sent Lán Wangji his drawing of a field of white bunnies (and I belief his donkey was in the picture as well?) and a letter. This was the last thing he sent to Lán Wangji before he disappeared. I remember Sizhui being with Lan Wangji and other junior disciples in the search for Wei Wuxian. Cut to them finding the white bunny field, they still don’t find him. As they return to Cloud Recesses, it turns out that Lan Sizhui took a bunny from that field. Specifically a non white bunny. That is all I can remember… thank you for the help!

Hello, for fic finder I want to find a short story set post canon where Wei Wuxian is transformed into a cat and keeps Jin Ling company, I vaguely remember a scene where Wei Wuxian in cat form bapped Fairy on the nose with his paw and stared in wonder at his paws possibly realising he had claws or in wonder that he touched a dog without running away screaming. I think he later figured out how to transform into his cat form at will to nap in sunbeams. Finding this story has been driving me nuts any help is greatly appreciated. @sorathemasterofmasters

- its a modern fic. wei ying is sick then he lives with the lans. i remember him going to the same school(?) with lan zhan. i think lqr told lz to take care of him smth like that. then there's a girl that is also sick(?) there's a scene where wy asked lz to stay with him but then lz left and chose the other girl (lz didnt know that wx is sick and he was like the girl needs me more than u) there's a confession on a radio station(?) then when lz found out that wy is sick he ran back to him. there's also jiang-wen family connections. wy is cousins to the jiangs and has a connection with wens, im not sure if rouhan is his grandfather or uncle or smth. then they found out there's a scene where madam yu slapped the girl because of what she did (hurt wy) and they cut off ties (business/job) with their family

im not sure if im talking about one story or two.

For #17 I'm sure I've read the fic but it was when I was early into fandom and new to AO3. Also the girl is engaged to LWJ or something. WWX already is in love with LWJ, but he's sick and gonna die in a year

19. I’m looking for a wangxian modern with cultivation fic where WWX was kicked out of yunmeng for something that Jiang Cheng did. He wound up having most of his golden core removed but was able to recultivate one. Cultivators had to wear body cams when on assignment, and someone hacked into the files and released the film of what actually happened during the night hunt that WWX got kicked out for.

I didn’t actually read it, I saw the summary and tags and planned to go back and read it later…and now I can’t find it. 90% sure it was complete and it’s on Ao3.

firstly, thank you. this is one of the best compliments i have ever gotten for my writing and i would like to eat it

secondly, i literally spent like 5 mins trying to figure out what ops and hcs means but i am going to assume it means opinions and headcanons??? consulted my friend and she also said opinions and headcanons so we are going to go with that. if it doesn’t mean that then this is going to be really embarrassing BUT.

i actually have like. 3 hualian idol au wips buried somewhere in my gdocs. maybe one day i will complete them but in the mean time here are some of my. ops and hcs:

- i had an idol au a few years ago where hua cheng is in a group with feng xin, mu qing, and he xuan, and i still think that’s so fucking funny. i just dug through my gdocs and found the 1 page i wrote of it back in september 2021:

- alternatively i think having all 4 calamities in an idol group is also equally hilarious. and then another group is xianle trio. sqx and swd an idol duo. OR three tumors are a group and sqx a solo idol.

- alternatively xianle trio group and huaxuan duo because i am crazy and predictable.

- idk if this counts but i have another wip from february 2021 where xie lian works at a convenience store and is a fan of hua cheng the idol. like SUCH a big fan. he goes broke to buy all the merch, knows of him from the predebut days, attends every concert albeit his nosebleed seats, etc etc. and then one day hua cheng walks into the store in like a mask and stuff and immediately falls in love with the pretty cashier and stuff. u know how hualian goes. anyways i also found the 1 page of this au i had written:

oh my god ok so i actually had more of this au dumped in my dms with bella (astrocosmos on ao3). so fxmq are xl’s besties in this au and they are both secretly big fans of hua cheng even tho they would rather die than admit that out loud. one day they all accidentally meet in the merch line at one of hua cheng’s concerts and all hell breaks loose.

fxmq: [fighting in the merch line] xie lian walking up to them out of nowhere: do you guys think i should get the ghost city era picket or the paradise manor era picket? fxmq, immediately: OBVIOUSLY GHOST CITY—wait, XIE LIAN?!?!?!!?!?! xie lian: [smiling serenely] hello guys

- hualian idol au where xianle trio are an idol group and hua cheng literally comes to EVERY SINGLE ONE of their fansigns, buys a SHIT ton of albums to make sure he gets in every time, and at the actual fansign he just completely ignores fx and mq and instead spends the entire time complimenting xl and showering him with presents, etc etc. xie lian’s company literally has to enforce a No Gifts At Fansigns rule bc of hua cheng. fx and mq thinks that he is the creepiest thing on the planet. there are whole subgroups of netizens who HATE hc and think he’s really creepy bc he’s ALWAYS around xl. meanwhile xl thinks hc is the cutest person ever and is in love with him. yeah.

- hualian idol au with solo idols xie lian and hua cheng and their fanbases HATE each other. think armys and blinks. engenes and teumes. i can’t really think of any more but u get the idea. meanwhile xl and hc are dating LMAOOO

- ok that ^ but imagine like a socmed/twt au where like. this random twt account starts getting really popular and they are like hualian shippers and both of xl and hc’s fanbases make fun of them all the time and it’s literally the only thing the two groups ever agree on: that this random acc is stupid af and completely delusional. THEN ONE DAY the admin of the acc posts a selfie and guess what. it’s hua cheng. and then xl replies to the selfie from his very real main twitter account and the internet just goes fucking bonkers

i am sorry this is literally a whole dump of aus and thoughts for no reason but. yeah. those are all the ops and hcs i can think of right now!!!!!!! thank u for asking me this question and giving me an excuse to ramble about hualian. <3 hope you are having a lovely day <3
