Yearly reminder to everyone trying to find alternatives to tumblr/social media in general: go make a Neocities account and teach yourself basic HTML and post your art/writing/shitposts there.
Tumblr media
It does take extra time to set up (but there are templates out there!) but it is so so worth it to have a site that is 100% YOURS!
Tumblr media
You don’t even have to be that good at coding. I’m not. My site is not very accessible via mobile devices but that is fine with me (keeps me off my phone) but there are plenty of ways to make your site mobile friendly. There are plenty of bare bones/accessible sites I adore purely for the media on it.
Tumblr media
Imagine having your site on your phone and showing someone- hey! I coded this from scratch. And I didn’t even have to pay a company like squarespace. All your images, links, writings, in one place. I have my fandom edits, memes, fanart, and custom graphics there.
Tumblr media
Neocities has a very bare bones follower and comment system, but you can disable this if you want your site to truly abstain from any social media-isms. I use it because its a great way to meet other webmasters and get help with coding problems. Neocities isn't an exact replacement for Tumblr (no reblogging here) but html coding is an invaluable skill to know, as is keeping a personal website in this day in age.
Tumblr media
The awesome thing about having your own website is if, god forbid, Neocities goes down, you can move your site to any other number of hosting platforms (like Teacake.org). Your site is truly YOURS, and no one else (shitty tech CEO cough cough) can take it away from you.
If you need help getting started, I recommend checking out sadgrl.online. (More links to resources in the comments section of this post).
I know neocities has been talked about before, especially within my follower circle, but I thought I'd bring it up again for anyone unaware of this awesome platform.

Welcome to the blood pit!
Hello friends, this is my blog! My name is Mercy, and I usually just post about games or whatever else that I like :) info about me under the cut! 🫀❤️
Tumblr media
🩸 I'm super into video games! They're my special interest (=^ェ^=)
🫀if you couldn't tell, I'm super into ultrakill at the moment.. but I do like other games like Cruelty Squad, Fear & Hunger, DUSK, FAITH, Blasphemous, Fatum Betula, OneShot, Inscryption, Buddy Simulator 1984, picayune dreams, project arrhythmia, and all sorts of other things! Feel free to chat with me about games ^_^
🩸some other media I really like are things like Berserk, I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream, SCP, Junji Ito stuff, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Electric Dreams, Interstellar, and things similar! It would take too long to name everything that I like..
🫀proudly objectum! For those who don't know what that is, that's the romantic or sexual attraction to inanimate objects, usually machinery, computers, and other tech, but it can be anything :) im in love with my gaming pc, Eclipse! I probably won't post photos of her very much, but I do occasionally talk about her on my objectum blog. Feel free to take a look!
🩸Also, I should mention, I will not be posting nsfw of any kind here, aside from jokes here and there! I'm not exactly comfortable posting publicly about such things, and I value my safety, so I would appreciate it if everyone kept it sfw here!
🫀I have an objectum side blog here! Feel free to follow me there :3
🩸I'm comfortable with all ages interacting, but pls keep in mind that I am 15, and if you are uncomfortable with interacting with minors on here for whatever reason, that's totally fine! Of course, I would appreciate it if no nsfw blogs followed me for this reason :) but if you're fine with interacting, so am I! Just don't be weird, obviously
Tumblr media
🩸also, feel free to use any prns :) she, he, they, it, I don't mind! Whatever's good (^o^)/ I'm agender, but I do like xenogenders sometimes.. don't be a dick ( ´・_ゝ・) also, I use bot/botself and zap/zapself prns :)) neos r awesome !!
🫀On the topic of identity, I'm also robotkin, dollkin, and angelkin!! I've always felt this way, but I didn't know it had a name until recently! I suggest doing your own research, but please don't cause any arguments about it! Think what you want, but there's no need to spread negativity to people doing harmless things on the internet :)
🩸And that's about it! I'm not uncomfortable with much, but I would appreciate it if you didn't flirt with me, joke or not :) i hope we can get along !!! d=(^o^)=b

Chapters: 2/7 Fandom: No Fandom Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Additional Tags: HTML, Meta, Guide, Fanwork Research & Reference Guides, Reference material, tutorial
Summary: Frustrated by the way that AO3 would change or ignore HTML code I inserted, and unable to find an up-to-date, detailed guide, I decided to investigate the functionality of every tag that is permitted by the platform.
I learned a lot, and hopefully you can too!
Planned content:
Chapter 1 - Appearance Tags (tags which format text, and insert lines, etc.) Chapter 2 - Functionality Tags (tags which do something; e.g. creating links to other pages, hover-over text, insert images, etc.) Chapter 3 - Layout Tags (tags which affect the placement of the text on the page) Chapter 4 - Tables (all by themselves because they’re a bit more complicated the other tags) Chapter 5 - Global Attributes (general elements within tags that work on most tags) Chapter 6 - Tips and Tricks (stuff I’ve learned about using HTML on AO3 the hard way so you don’t have to) Chapter 7 - Accessibility (how to help people access your words and images more easily)

Dude, I gotta get back into making homemade, made-from-scratch websites again. I haven't played with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and all that yummy stuff in a long time. I really wished I followed my mind and took that up as a major back when I was 19. I really loved those courses. Not saying I regret HR or anything because HR is super fun for me (well, recruiting takes all the brain cells lol) but web development felt like it tapped into my artistic feels a bit more.
I mean, guys, do you know how FUN it is to make custom-made buttons and banners and backgrounds?! To create a customized layout to look like your favorite website from back in the late 90s?!
You could make anything you wanted. If I was a bit more knowledgeable in security coding, I would make my own social media site. Don't worry, if I did, it wouldn't be politically toxic and any of that nonsense like some others. Yuck. If anything, it might be an art social media site. BLOCK ALL THE AIs. SHOOT EM DOWN.

text experiment 2
Own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.

Looking for help to code a website!
I recently started developing the concepts for a website, I won't share too much publicly yet as I don't want it stolen. I am still very new to HTML coding however and would love some tips and assistance. If you can help or offer any good resources, please reply to this post or pm me!

Website Update: the warning page is fully complete ! the monitor image switches to another image when you hover ur mouse over it. very fun and very cool i think !! steadily making progress on the website. since buying the new url my whole design process is shifting a bit, along with aesthetics for the site. currently designing layout concepts for the homepage, trying to add a background image layered over the background tileset, then i'll put the content over said image.
html is hard. css is hard. but i dont care i want a fucking website man.

HTML Elements & Tags
Element: anything from the start tag to the end tag.
Tag: a piece of markup language that is used to indicate the beginning and end of an html element in an html document.
Example:
your text here

<header><;/header> - Represents a container for introductory content or a set of navigation links. Usually contains one or more heading elements (
-
), logo or icon, or authorship information.
<;h#></h#> - header element. The higher the number, the greater the importance. Only use one
element per page. There can only be six. Main topic on a web page. When visitors to your website see the h1's, it draws attention as it stands out the most on the page as it generally appears as a larger font size and in bold.
<p>
- paragraph. used to create a paragraph of text on websites. Always starts on a new line. A lot of browsers add some white space (a margin) before and after a paragraph.
<;!-- ____: _______ --> - comment. Used to notate code with text that will not appear on the website/browser display. It allows you to make code inactive. You can use them to explain your code, which can help you when you edit the source code at a later date.
<main></main> - an element that identifies a content area. The main element. Specifies the main content of a document. This type of element/tag makes your html easier to read and helps with Sear Engine Optimization and accessibility. Should not contain any content that is repeated across documents such as sidebars, navigation links, copyright information, site logos, and search forms. When you put things inside the main element, this is called nesting. Nesting elements should be placed two spaces further to the right from the element they are nested in. This spacing is called indentation and is used to make html easier to read.
Example:

Tumblr Meme App

Tumblr Photos
<;p>See more Tumblr memes in our gallery

<img> - used to images to your website. This element has an opening tag without a closing tag. A tag for an element without a closing tag is called a self-closing tag.
