obligatory turtle pile art
[Image Description: A digital illustration of Don, Mikey, Leo, and Raph from the TMNT 2003 cartoon. They all sleep in a turtle pile surrounded by pillows and blankets. Mikey and Leo are in the center, Leo’s arm around Mikey’s shoulder and Mikey’s arm stretched out over Leo’s stomach. Mikey sleeps open mouthed, while Leo looks relaxed and is smiling faintly. Don is curled up around Mikey’s side with his cheek resting on Leo’s arm. Raph is curled up around Leo’s back with an arm over his chest. Leo rests his head against Raph’s shoulder. A beam of light falls over their faces. End ID.]

deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. Like i'm neutral to positive on her, but the online discourse has been absolutely rancid. flipping between "Taylor Swift has never done anything wrong ever and she's a fucking genius" and "Taylor Swift is the worst lyricist of all time and also a bad person" is exhausting, so thank you for like. nuance or something lmao
not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

Forgive me if I'm a bit nervous about Gorgug this season. It's just that the last Zac Oyama pc was Colin Provolone, who was arguably one of his greatest D20 performances, if not the greatest.
Zac always does great with every pc he plays, but Colin was something else. He came out swinging with actions and words that were teeming with unspoken emotional baggage. The way Colin's presence affected the other pcs; there was this level of depth that I don't think I've seen in any of his other characters. It was understated and quiet in that signature "just a guy" way that he tends to be, while still captivating everyone instantly with just how raw it was.
Not to say we haven't seen emotional depth in Gorgug. It's just that, compared to the other Bad Kids, Gorgug's journey and progression as a character has been very... impersonal? Like, yes, he found his birth parents, and he found friends who appreciate him, and he faced his insecurities about his intelligence, and he navigated relationship troubles, and his trial through the claustrophobic bug-tunnels was a horrifically-uncanny parallel to how he's spent his entire life trying to make himself as small as possible.
But how much of that has actually changed him from the Gorgug we started with? I would agree that he's definitely happier with his life, given all the loving and supportive people that have been added to it when it used to be just him and his parents. And he's certainly grown into himself and become more self-assured in his abilities, even if he's still, and always will be, our anxious little guy. And there's nothing wrong with that. I've always liked how Gorgug was a representation of all the little things. The subtle acts and kindnesses that don't seem like much to most, but to some are everything.
We don't need another Bad Kid living in fear that their mouth could be shit-in at any moment. We've already got one-too-many.
All that being said, I just feel like Gorgug's personal story beats are much easier to sweep under the rug than everyone else's. He has the same soft and understated quality that Colin held, but they lack that extra oomph that pushed Colin over the edge from being just another guy in a series of dudes, to a character that the vast majority of us could not get out of our heads. He took someone who was anxious and softspoken, who ultimately never wanted to be violent— someone who is remarkably similar to Gorgug in many ways— and maintained that demeanor and core in Colin's character while still hitting us in the feels with character development at max velocity at every turn.
I think Zac gets better and better at this with every season that goes by. With each new character, there is always something that leaves me stunned in awe. And it's been, what, three? Four years since we last saw Gorgug?
I'm just,,, I'm cautiously optimistic but also going into a bit of a worry about what violence this man may inflict upon us

i was thinking abt this as i was going to sleep a few nights ago but neils work on astarion is honestly insane like. that is astarions voice. it could never be any other voice. and then hearing neil talk just regularly and hearing that he has a lower pitched, more mellow sort of tone, its just amazing to me how fucking good at his job he is like i know its been said a thousand times but i’ll say it a thousand more lol

Jhonen Vasquez makes a show designed around his own unique artsyle, which was notoriously difficult for animators to learn, and everyone praises it for the effort and creative ambition Jhonen and his team put toward realizing his artistic vision.
A woman makes two shows designed around her own unique artsyle, heavily inspired by Jhonen, and people constantly screech about how horrible she is for “making” people draw her wretched, “animator unfriendly” designs. Or even better, unironically proclaim it “cringe” for her to be clearly influenced by Invader Zim, not because they think Invader Zim itself is bad or cringe, but because liking it apparently is.

i have too many thoughts on the deleted jackienat scene for a girl who's supposed to be enjoying her birthday lol. i think at the root of it all, it's highly likely that when the actresses breathed life into the characters, and scenes got improvised, some things just stopped making sense for characters to do. including good things, like with jackie's 'i love you' to shauna! and i think this is the case for natalie looking at jackie with hatred before leaving her out in the cold. maybe at one point in her early stages of characterization it made sense, but clearly the people on the show didn't think that way anymore at some point, hence the cut. also ngl people taking this deleted scene, which for all we know didn't even make it into the final script, as some sort of 'gotchu' for jackienat enjoyers ( romantic or otherwise ) is weird as hell to me. like, it was removed for a reason.

I have a very important question.
*it's an au where supernatural things don't exist. sam still went to stanford, leaving Dean alone with his dad tho. cas is human (obviously).
*¹ sam leaves stanford, leaving dean alone with john. he still hunts the supernatural. cas is an angel.
[feel free to leave other ideas in the tags/comments!]
