Yes I hate Tierzoo but thats because I hate what he represents more than his content itself. I hate the misinformation and "monsterification" of animals for enterntainment because I hate anti-intelectualism.

Spreading false information and half truths about animals just to sell a narrative means you either don't know fully what you are talking about (neutral ending) or you are actively putting priority on an "entertaining narrative" over actual animal knowledge, which doesn't make you better than hacks like the Tiger King documentary (bad ending).

I only allow this kind of sensationalism from Casual Geographic and that's cuz dude's whole thing is just mentioning fun and/or messed up animal facts in 1 minute vids, so naturally some nuance in the information gets lost bc it wont fit in lenght.

Even then his takes on mustelidaes and his need to describe animals as evil or "sociopaths" bother me, but y'know, nobody's perfect.

DollxUzi/Dollzi- Bloodybats, this ship is so underrated to me... they could have been... so much more. but why weren't they? did Yeva abandon ever getting close to Uzi when she was a kid after Nori died? did Uzi and Doll just never play around together as kids when their mothers were so close? were they ever close and something went wrong as they grew older? at worst they could have been like sisters together, and at best maybe more than friends. i just dont know what happened here, like Yeva could have tried to keep an eye on Uzi, maybe Uzi could have found Dolls powers so cool before having them too- i dont know theres literally tons of possibilities- but if Doll deserved to be saved or cared for by anyone, at least one of them should have been Uzi... sigh.

Dolls disdain for the murder drones pushed her to end up the way she did. maybe if she didnt do it alone she would have been alive by now. so i like to think what would have happened if she and V could have made up- not necessarily Doll forgiving her- but at least having the space to grow and understand why they did they things that happened.

Cyn and literally ANYONE- i want the solver to be SEPARATE from Cyn- i wish Cyn would have still existed somewhere down there and was savable- i wish this poor child AI had a happy ending to her by connecting with the others as ACTUAL siblings... goddamnit 😔

is there a good place to start if we want to learn about idletry? im very interested in the story and all the bits and pieces revealed so far but i dont know if youve like, stated the basics both about the characters-in-story and how you’re releasing the comic

hi there. unfortunately, idletry became a passion project very abruptly and many details were added very quickly without regard for how long the project would take. once i did realize how large the project was, i decided that i would not even kid myself on the idea of holding in spoilers for the next 5 years, and those two factors combined make the information available very chaotic and slapdash -- somewhat intentionally.

i don't even have the comics tagged separately for easier access among the idletry content -- although, i could go back and give them a separate tag.

i can summarize the story and say that it's about a funny little talking honey badger/tasmanian devil named jessie gaylord who has for the last 10 years of her life been on heavy psychiatric medication in an attempt to mitigate a pervasive delusion that the world is a fictional story. she also has a notorious aggressive streak. these medications work primarily by leaving her so tired that she sleeps most of the time.

the story begins when her medical team has run out of typical medications to try, and they must order an older, more aggressive type of drug which is not commonly used anymore, and has a lengthier process to manufacturing and approving the drug. during this time, she is not on any medication, and she becomes more urgently fixated on convincing people that the delusion is true.

she ends up attempting to contact the writer, who is referred to as God, and she receives a response. she immediately attempts to write the story herself, and she's granted the ability to do anything within the story so long as she can write it out. (the intricacies and limitations of this power have been elaborated upon in a bunch of fragmentary posts, so i won't try to condense it here)

at the end of the first act, she kills the first writer and becomes the new God of her world. the rest of the story is about what she does after acquiring omnipotence, and it heavily features a character named fate -- or shiloh, as jessie calls her -- with whom she enters an intimate relationship.

she has a happy loving family composed of a father named adam, a mother named evelyn, and an older sister named emily. there is a later minor subplot about a cult following who worships her after she becomes God, and this cult is initially organized by an ant called samanthuel -- or samwich, as jessie calls them. these are usually the other characters i mention and i am too lazy to link them right now

the comic itself is currently being written. the script stands at around 51,000 words at the time of writing this as i work on the second act. after it's written, i will let it simmer for a few months and then write a second draft to start to relieve the story of its bloat. depending on its length at that point, i will either need to write a third draft, or i will start drawing the comic.

chances are, during the second draft, i will start to thumbnail or sketch scenes which receive little to no editing, as i know they will likely remain relatively unchanged even through multiple drafts.

the sketch strips are to tide me and an eager audience over in the meantime, but they've sort of dried up as i focus all of my attention on finishing the first draft and taking care of a puppy that was kind of just forced onto me.

i've made a couple of full-length comics before and they have taken years. it is, unfortunately, just the nature of the process. for idletry, i plan to self-publish the comic. i've never published something in print before, so that is the most daunting part for me.

the plan at the moment is to crowdfund this, but, to be frank with you, i no longer pay rent, and i care very much about having this comic as a printed book. i have no issue with paying the cost of printing out of my own pocket by the time it's done and am even anticipating that outcome ahead of time, despite having a pretty reliable audience by now.

i'm on the fence about releasing a digital book version, as i very much want to retain digital color versions of the pages that are more vibrant, but due to the explicit adult content of the story, i don't want it to be free-access.

tl;dr: it's about a lesbian incel with anger issues who's given omnipotence.

i'm still working on the story because i want it to be good.

i'm planning on printing it as a physical comic book once it's done.

Overall there is a bunch of variation/Interpretation on the story, even with the limited translation. Some of the French Court were totally original to the concept (Heehaw) and some recycled (Brocc). Overall, I'm pretty flexible with interpretation.

Tales of Reynard are a dark comedy- which, i feel, fits the idea of Fae very well. It's one of the most influential beast mock-epics of french """""""origin"""""""" which is way more fitting of something (that should be) uniquely french.

this is, however, coming from an American. But I don't care. We tried giving the french a chance and they just appropriated chinese myscisism in the worst way and even gave us a ton of racist stuff and copied marvel's homework instead.

Reynard, of course, is Trixx. The title protagonist, but hardly heroic, of the tales. A trickster, a liar- a murderer (amongst the tamer things) is a character who serves only his own whims and desires and cares only for the well-being their own family. While, a largely heroic character in the French Court- using their wit and cleverness for the greater good, they are still reviled by the majority of the other fae for various slights and.. murder attempts.

Royale is King Nobel the Lion... who is arrogant and selfish and greedy, and very foolish. Royale isn't a 1-1 though, and is more a representation of that "holier than thou" attitude... able to keep that role as the king of the fae via brute strength and a LOT of power... which is ironic, considering that Brocc and Trixx are able to sway him easily with honeyed words.

Tikki is the Queen Lion, with some elements of Hirsent the she-wolf. I would say her role is the most different, as the Lion Queen is a paranoid individual and a largely minor role... Tikki is very much not. She was once a lion kwami as well, until she fell in love with Plagg, who fostered her sense of self-confidence and sense of individuality- so her fur fell out and she became a ladybug instead of a mirror of Royale- with bright red chitin and black spots where Plagg had kissed her. (I'm a sucker for romance and in this house we love Plikki.) She is the only fae that is able to subdue Royale through anything other than Trickery with vicious ex-wife energy.

Plagg is Tybalt the Cat. Loyal servant to the king, and was sent to retrieve Reynard for a court hearing, and was beaten half to death by farmers after being tricked. Plagg has a hatred of Trixx and Brocc, but is willing to work with them for the greater good.

Plagg and Tikki together are some of the strongest kwami, and are still on the court due to Null being a threat. However, they are also trappped inside magical artifacts,

Brocc is Grimbard the badger, advisor to the king and is absolutely in it for themselves and for Reynard. Brocc's only allignment is for Trixx, otherwise, is a manipulator with a golden tounge.

Orikko is Chanticleer, who came before Nobel with damning evidence that Reynard was an awful creature- as Reynard had murdered and eaten his daughter. Other tales- especially about Chanticleer specifically, feature Reynard as antagonist. Court-wise, He is one of the few that can actually outsmart Trixx- thus, they have a fierce rivalry. Orikko is noble, dutiful, and hardworking but proud. I would describe him as more knightly than most other characters here.

Awoo is Isengrim- vicious and strong, he is easily tricked by Reynard and the two are constantly at each other's throats. I believe in most versions, Reynard ends up killing Isengrim in a duel.

Hunni is Bruin the Bear and Rukenawe the Ape (i dont like monkeys so she is not a member of the court skjdfhlksda), lazy and stupid. Hunni is lazy and selfish, but hardly stupid. Otherwise, she often comes to blows with Heehaw- as they are polar opposites. She will exert her strength in exchange for.. food, pampering, or the end of the world (which would interrupt her lounging, honestly.) She's a good conversationalist when she's in the mood, and actually is very insightful- especially if sugared up with treats and not asked to move from her warm spot.

Fluff is Kyward the Hare, i think Reynard ends up eating him for the crime of.. trusting him. Fluff is very flighty and kinda stupid, but also has elements of... and yall'regunna hate me for this but, Hammy from Over the Hedge.

Heehaw is Baldwin the Donkey.. of which i cannot find much about.. But his part in the original was more a folk tale about how flatterers will win great prizes but laborors are mistreated and hardly intertwines with the Reynard tale (as far as I could find, he i think he was a doctor???). But he has elements of Rukenawe the Ape as well, who was an advisor and mentor to Reynard.. Heehaw is nothing of the sort, and acts as a wise ear to the others and acts more like the true leader of the Fae. He's a kind, patient, and understanding fae who approaches things bluntly and with honesty. He is a believer in hard work and perseverance. Thusly, he often comes to blows with Hunni.

While we are ranting about biology:

Pandas arent useless and stupid balls of fluff that nature wants to get rid of, they are extremely specialized and succesful animals that got fucked over by humans.

"Honey badger dont care" is a false statement. Honey badgers in the wild will avoid conflict and most of the "flexing" you see them do is out of a desperate need for survival, when they are cornered by (usually) inexperienced young predators.

Tierzoo... just... everything related to Tierzoo, just don't. Besides the barebones knowledge you get out if it their content is entertaintment first and foremost, NOT educational. Is more akin to you and your bro discussing who would win a battle between Goku and Superman.

i think jim moss would be a honey badger i dont care what [redacted] said btw badgers are just very threatening animals . but they also get viewed as being the calm polite ones in stories too so i think thats kinda how jim moss was to me. fuches is some sort of weasel or ratty animal small but bristly and the kind that could move around quick and bite you yknow . some animal stereotypically a trickster or manipulative in folklore i still think he would bite barry . probably a standard-looking brown weasel just more gray mixed in w/ his fur due to age. gene to me is some kind of bird a cockatoo i think actually , or maybe a lion because i think old sorta silvery-furred lion would fit him too because hes just so dramatic and theatrical and to me male lions especially would have that energy.

sally a horse maybe, just feel like thats fitting i dont have an explanation i just think she could be a horse or a deer/antelope/etc. if she was a horse then obviously a white horse. barry himself is a dog obviously but specifically a sort of mixed mutt shelter dog something mixed with a pitbull and he would be sorta tannish-brown and black. pitbull because pitbulls have all that stereotypes and hysteria about being the most aggressive and inherently violent dogs lol.

hank and cristobal i dont care about really but hank is some sort of lizard probably since theres not really any other cool hairless animal. sphynx maybe. but lizard is cooler so probably a leopard gecko and cristobal would be a hyena or maned wolf i think maned wolves are native to south americas so i think thats fitting. i wouldve gone with a "where do they natively come from" theme for the rest but then it would be like. boring foresty animals. well anyway in this hypothetical animal world theyre all furries obviously and also i never ever thought of this before ever ive never dedicated any thought to animal versions of these guys leave me alone okay
