I was first aware of my identity when I was like six or seven years old. I always liked girls, but I never liked wearing any girls’ clothes. At that time, they used to say “lesbian” because they had no idea about trans. But ever since I was six or seven years old I lived as a boy. They used to dress me in girls’ clothes but I would go to school and change them downstairs. I grew up right here in the Bronx. We weren’t a big family, we weren’t that tight. I grew up with my mom and great-grandmother, but my great-grandmother was my caretaker. She just went along with everything. And when I finally came out, nobody said anything. That was the one thing I’m lucky about. I didn’t have a problem with that. And about ten years ago when I started hanging out with other trans people, I learned about it more. I went to my doctor, and even though my doctor didn’t know much about it, we both did research and I started testosterone, and ever since then I go to a transgender clinic. It’s really good.

In the Hispanic community, you know, a lot of cisgender men, they don’t take trans very easy. So that’s why I just make sure I’m careful. It’s really a safety issue. I don’t trust too much. Being Hispanic, I have to be more masculine. You know, like I gotta really make sure, you can’t be that soft or whatever. It’s like, “Boom, masculinity!” with some Hispanics. I was married for fifteen years, but she passed away ten years ago. Her family didn't know I’m trans. When they found out, they wanted us to break up. It was kind of rocky, but we worked it out for fifteen years. Now I’m in a relationship for the first time in ten years. We’ve been going out for three years now. Talking about marriage, but I don’t know yet.

When I first got an apartment, I moved everything in, and for some reason the landlord went through my stuff and saw a pamphlet on HIV and trans. When I came back that night, they’d changed the lock. That was a whole big deal. I called the cops, they couldn’t do anything. I took it to the Human Rights Commission, they said because it was a private house of two families, they couldn’t do anything. That was like the most horrible day, I had the two kids with me. Now I volunteer at Housing Works that has a program for people who are HIV positive. I go there like four times a week. I’ve been doing that for the past twelve years. My main occupation is outreach and peer-educator. I’m also doing the HIV Stops With Me campaign, because a lot of people don’t think trans men can get HIV. I’m about the only trans man in that campaign. I did it to let it be known. I have nothing to be ashamed of with HIV. It is what it is and if I can help other people, it’s all good.

It’s really interesting because I’ve been around tumblr since around 2011/2012, and started seeing more social justice related stuff around 2013/2014-2017 and during that time. Trying to explain how the general demonization of men on this site was harmful to multiple groups and not at all helpful to feminism would get you labeled a bad feminist at best and a hateful anti sjw alt right MRA type at worst. At that time I really only remember the anti sjw accounts being the ones to bring up the topic of how it was harmful to various groups and how yes, there are real problems that men face that people should care about, and I’ve noticed that has changed a lot in the past couple years, especially with people drawing attention to how a lot of “all men are inherently bad” posts are coming from terfs who aren’t just talking about men. I think it’s really genuinely very refreshing to see and I’ve never liked generalizing a whole group based on a thing they cannot control. A person’s actions are much more important that an aspect of themselves they were born with.

this is ethan my friend ethan. he's a telepath who can control people's minds and jump into their bodies at will. he used to be the runt of this superhero team, practically their mascot.

after going missing during a big battle and being presumed dead for years, he resurfaced as a civilian. he lives in anonymity and has reunited with his old team; they respect his wishes and don't goad him into joining back up again. it's almost like they don't want him, anyway.

he may be retired officially—but on the side, he's constructing his comeback as a supervillain to take revenge on his team and take control of the city.

(really, though, it's to lash out at them bc he didn't just go missing; he was taken from that battle by a third party and experimented on, and no one found him. he had to crawl his way out by himself)

understanding gwen stacy is transgender in atsv is like. if theres a character in a military uniform in a movie. you assume theyre a soldier if theres nothing contradicting that, right? you dont go "well they might not be a soldier they might just shop at army surplus" unless theres a reason to think that in the text. you dont need to have the character say "im in the army" before you read them as a soldier. similarly if there are multiple trans flags in someones family home and a trans flag visual motif, you need a decent counterpoint to suggest she isnt trans, otherwise you're just being obtuse. and like it could be being intentionally obtuse or it could be unconscious bias. but why do these people feel the need to hold "character is trans" to the highest possible burden of proof?

First of all, the term neurodiversity was coined by Judy Singer in 1998.

Secondly, I'd like to point out that even if the flash camera statement was true, epileptic seizures can cause severe brain damage and even death. There is absolutely no reason that an autistic person using the flash on their camera, regardless of support needs, should take precedence over someone's own life. If an autistic person refused to stop using it, ideally they would have been separated, but in the end the epileptic person would have a higher priority support need!

"She could have just looked away". Could she? How dark was the room where this was occurring? How reflective was the environment? How bright was the flash in contrast to ambient light? How willing to risk her life are you?

Thirdly, the transphobia. "I refuse to call [them] by [their] trans name". Translation: I think it's acceptable to deadname and misgender trans people if I don't like them.

Finally, the ableism of calling neurodivergent people who reclaim cripple (for reasons including but not limited to: being physically disabled as well; feeling their neurodivergence physical disables them despite not having a strictly physical diagnosis; acknowledging the long history of usage of the term against neurodivergent people including in medical literature and refusing to erase their own experiences being attacked with it; for rejecting the false dichotomy of mind-body dualism and understanding that the brain is a physical organ that is heavily integrated with every other physical organ and can therefore not be separated from it; and so on).

Note the dogwhistle: "believes the abled can be cripples". The anon does not even attempt to dress it up as "the physically abled". They openly state they believe neurodivergent people are abled, without even the caveat of "except those who also have physical disabilities". Even with that caveat, however, neurodivergence can and often is disabling. Sometimes it is severely so.

This further contributes to the erasure of high support needs neurodivergent people, aside from being inaccurate to the vast majority of neurodivergent people. While nondisabled neurodivergent people exist, they are the minority, and disability is an opt-out label for neurodivergent people, not an opt-in one. Meaning, if you are neurodivergent, you are disabled by default unless you identify out of it for whatever reason (usually for reasons like nondisordered plurality or finding the framework of the social model of disability most fits your experiences).

This is even aside from the actual discourse about who can reclaim cripple. Calling all neurodivergent people - even all neurodivergent people who do not identify as physically disabled, "abled", is abject ableism. I don't care what you think about cripplepunk discourse. If you absolutely feel you must debate the subject with the mods of this blog (both of whom are physically disabled, and who have made our position exceedingly clear), please do so off this post. True to the nature of this blog, solidarity and unity in the face of an ableist harassment campaign is necessary.

Let me also be very clear. The person being referenced in the crossed out part is the victim of a harassment campaign and has never sent anyone to any of these blogs. This ask is being sent in mass to blogs - seemingly blogs belonging to disabled people, possibly those who post in the neurodivergent or neurodiversity tag. They have nothing to do with this. I have censored their name anyway to attempt to preserve their anonymity, but if they wish to make a statement about this, we are happy to platform it on this blog to reach more people.

If you receive this message, please delete it. We hesitated about whether or not we might be making a mistake by platforming it, but figured that as it is making the rounds anyway, informing people was the better option.

I have SO many headcannons

Jason loves classic literature, but also Gothic literature (Frankenstein, Dracula, Wuthering Heights, The turn of the screw, etc.)

He's also a huge Broadway nerd and he loves phantom of the opera and wicked

I like to think he's an average cook. Like not a chef, but he can follow a recipe and it turns out the way it's supposed to

He's got a bad smoking habit, but doesn't vape or get high

He seems like a beer, whiskey drinker, but I could also see him with a glass of wine too

He probably smells like cigarettes, motor oil, and dove shampoo for men or something like that

He loves antique cars and is remodeling one

He probably doesn't have great teeth. They're probably kind of crooked and yellow since he's probably not regular with brushing and flossing, etc. With missions and almost dying a lot

He loves kids and is really great with them

He's snores

He's not conventionally attractive, but kind of rugged. Like fuller lips, a more gaunt face, bigger nose that's kind of crooked from being broken so many times

He keeps a neat apartment, but it's pretty basic in terms of decorations since he's not there a lot

I also like to think he likes to watch hockey and basketball, but more because I like to watch that stuff lol

He's got super rough hands and fingers

He's got a deeper voice than the other robins, but not gotham knights or Jensen ackles level

He's not an outdoors man, not a camping kind of guy

There's probably more I have that I'm not thinking of, but if I do, I'll add to this for sure.

As for tropes I don't like

Jason and Bruce have a functional father son relationship

Jason is reckless and rude

Any batcest

Anything miraculous or danny phantom

Tim is afraid of jason

Jason and Damian are closer than anyone else and damian calls him akhi, etc

Jason is asexual, trans. Etc. (This one doesn't bother me as much, only because I know it's a projection to make him more relatable to the person making the headcannons, who are usually asexual or trans, so you do you but it's not for me)

Jason is Hispanic (this one also varies, but it feels icky when people who are white like me have this headcannon and no real reason to back it up, like the only reason is because he's the only robin from the ghetto)

Jasons favorite color is red (basic, only because he's the redhood but his actual favorite color is green)

Lazarus pit madness making him the hulk with glowing green eyes whenever he gets agitated (I made a previous post going more in depth with this)

Jason instantly forgives everyone including Bruce for everything they've done to him and vice versa
