Pallas Athena and the Herdsman's Dogs by Briton Rivière
Then drew she nigh, in shape a stately dame,
Graced with all noble gifts of womanhood:
None save Odysseus saw her; for to few
Of mortal birth the gods reveal themselves.
But the dogs knew her coming, and with whine
And whimpering crouched aloof.

AUGUST(ING) IN FLAMES! The August, like the pasts, came with rain, in abundance But this time eroded the banks And paved passage for grievances moans, mourns and stress-weaken cries of helpless mothers Do we love the moisture that washes only our bodies but failed to quench the raging fire in the heart of hearts? Of what benefit comes with the August that dug trenches with blood on the unploughed lands of our lands? And dimmed the sun for the untamed vultures wielding long bullet mothers waiting for our walking carcasses to snatch? How do we celebrate the August that rains grievances from the clouds of terror? Who'd even celebrate the coming Of a year that the horizon' yonder Is darkened and deepened by virgins blood? Woe! The year the haramists roamed the nooks, taking advantage of our idle voices, rooting terror in our grounds!! Woe to us, them and us again! Who sleep without locking the doors against the thieves lurking for our lives Woe to the sun that appraised us not the nature they carried under its supposed motherly watch! The wind knew their scents but rather eroded our noses with the perfumes of catwalkers on our streets Shame upon us, them and us again and upon every soul responsible for this misery. Now, How do we even explain to the Augustuses that the candles are burning our Blue blood? ©️Mobbo Mon, Aug 2, 2021 #poetry #poet #nomad #nomadism #herdsman #writer #writing #africanwriters #africanpoet #africanpoetry https://www.instagram.com/p/ChHZzxoIWoD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
