my current thought is that sissel got lost on a road trip? maybe fell through a portal?
and is kinda stuck in the middle of nowhere usa. Shenanigans ensue. that happens when you have an increadibly powerful energy source stuck in a kinda defenceless body (not counting the time powers. which i am sure clockwork has nothing to say about and danny specifically doesnt have any negative experience with.)

Y'all do know you can't make Jason be NOT white without changing his whole character, right?
For other characters, yes, because their physical appearance are not that influential in their story, on how they are viewed by people, on their personality formation — you can have a black/asian/indigenous/arab/brown/latino/etc Nico and yes, the hate he gets will have a undertone of racism but at the same time nothing significant on his story, motivation or personality will need to change. This is also true for other characters: Clarisse risks repeating the "aggressive WoC" stereotype but the character itself doesn't change.
This isn't true for Jason, whose main character trait is how he is perceived by others and how he showcases himself to others based on that perception. (specially with how little effort Riordan put on him besides making him perfect-er Percy who's somehow also weaker and less important than him).
Let's not pretend a black, Arab, indigenous, Asian, Latin man, etc, in the USA would ever be treated with the universal reverence Jason gets from New Roma, you can't have the illusion of perfection and most of all, of invincibility they have about him when you see him suffering racism or xenophobia in the middle of a mission. Nothing in his life has ever gone wrong, that's his image, destined to be king, he is supposed to have no weakness on his peers eyes.
He is not trying to prove people wrong, he is trying to prove them right; he isn't worthy despite their prejudice, on the contrary, he only tried to make himself worthy to fulfill their expectations. He can't be a woman or an immigrant or have a visible disability or any other thing that strays him from a perfect ideal by western society standards, and be that same character.

when i was a kid i was really REALLY into fantasy books and comics but interestingly ive noticed as an adult im like. too picky about it? i still read and love a lot of fantasy fiction but while when i was a kid i loved it because of the fantasy worldbuilding but as an adult, 99% i like it Despite it all LOL like ive noticed i prefer most fantasy stories to not dwell too much on magic systems or whatever because i just dont care EXCEPT
except. recently i have discovered that actually i do really like fantasy, low or high, soft or hard, but you need one thing. you need your main character to really REALLY care about some hyperspecific aspect of your fantasy worldbuilding and make it the foundation of the story's scenarios:
either make them autistic and really into monsters or magic or whatever (a certain tasty dungeoning manga that i have been reading recently has taught me this) OR
make them a fucking business major and do real life financial stock market bullshit but like. in fantasy medieval times with wolf goddesses (spice and wolf <3)

idk the response to seeing how honest taylor was about the entire situation in the album and seeing people still pushback bc of their own personal feelings about matty and claim that she's awful...i feel bad for your irl friends who experience things in similar veins if this is the amount of grace that you show them, if you even have them at all bc i cannot fathom holding something like those months of taylor's life against her forever knowing what we know now about the inside of her brain

Which brings us back to our heroine of the year, and how she came to be. She-Ra was really born because of our relationship with Mattel. I wanted to do another show to latch onto the back of He-Man. I was in an Italian restaurant having a dinner conversation with somebody at Mattel. And I said, "Wouldn't it be appropriate if we could do something with a girl, a superheroine?" I wanted to do a superhero that had a real family. We had done some families on the Super 7 and others, and I said, "I'd like to give He-Man a sister." The guy says, "But she can't appear after 20 years." And I said, "What if they didn't know they were twins?"
Shortly after that, we started development on She-Ra. At one point, He-Man was originally going to be called "He-Ro," and they suggested that the new character be called "She-Ro." But I said, "You can't do that because it's not feminine." Then they wanted to call her Hera, which was the name of the Greek goddess who was the wife of Zeus. But for some reason they couldn't do that. So Larry DiTillio, who was the main guy who helped develop her in the early days, came up with the name "She-Ra" because he was reading a book on Egypt, and in Egyptian mythology "Ra" was a word for a god. Larry was also the one who came up with the main background for She-Ra, with the twin sister who was kidnapped at birth, the parents who were threatened, and how she grew up being trained by Hordak, Skeletor's nemesis and friend, who really conquered the universe!

Ok so i finally watched part two of the library episode with River and the vashta nerada and all that (spoilers ahead?)
And oh boy Moffat that was foul. Rivers ending. Just absolutely pathetic. He put her. In the white dress, the dead wife white summer dress. And then put her on a green field and had some rando team members there too (also in white clothes??). And then. And then. He made her a mum. Can you get more heteronormative, more misogynistic.
He made her a mum to the little girl (and i did find the idea that she could tell her some of her stories to her very cute), but then also to the two made up little kids Donna had while in there, the apparently made up little kids because every actual person was saved you know. He made her a mum to three kids (two of those made up) for the rest of her existence.
And her whole character was all about adventure, independence, research. But no, she could not have a proper ending without being put into traditional gender norms. He probably only let her have as much fun as she did later because he already had her ending secured in the bag.
That is a fucking disgrace to her character, and frankly embarrassing for Moffat. Like he should be embarrassed, that the only peaceful ending he could imagine was rounding up any children lying about and stuffing them and her in a traditional nuclear family for eternity, nevermind that two of those children were actually imaginary and one was a few hundred years old, and she was never really the traditional mum type (confined to her home and offspring).
She also never stopped smiling in the epilogue, implying that she was truly happy then? As if that would fulfill her? She just died, she can show some bitter sweet emotion at least.
