people are always saying that folks on Tumblr think 30 is old, and I started to wonder if that's true, do people on Tumblr really think that relatively young ages are old? so. poll. reblog to do the thing where you've reblogged.

Do you know the dwelling(s) either of your parents grew up in?
Yes, I live(d) there
Yes, I’ve been inside it
Yes, I’ve seen it from the outside
Yes, I’ve seen it in a photo

For @tvarchive‘s TV Appreciation Week Day 3: best TV couple(s)
Weilan | Guardian
An excellent C-Drama from 2018, melding a premise like Torchwood with a world like Shadowhunters. Because of Chinese censorship, Shěn Wēi and Zhào Yúnlán never get on-screen confirmation of their relationship in the show despite their explicit romantic and sexual involvement in the book that inspired it. Already working on a shoestring budget however, the writers and actors gamely fill the space between the lines with acts of devotion, moments of “platonic” intimacy, pet names, lollypop symbolism, a culturally significant hairstyle change, and good old fashioned Significant Looks. 40 episodes at about 45 minutes apiece, Guardian is a great watch for people who like angst and hopeful, if not happy, endings. (Subbed episodes are available on YouTube.)
[Begin image description:
8 gifs from the C-Drama Guardian, arranged beginning with a full-width gif, three rows of two gifs, and ending with a full-width gif.
Gif 1:  Outside during the day, shot of Shěn Wēi is in traditional robes and is in the midst of battle. His mask has been removed and his hood thrown back, and he turns to look at his attacker (out of shot). Cut to Zhào Yúnlán looking down from a small outcropping, staring in recognition and surprise.
Row 1 Gif 1: Shěn Wēi and Zhào Yúnlán are facing each other across a desk in profile. Shěn Wēi is leaning forward and looking down at Zhào Yúnlán who is slouched completely forward so he is lying on his elbows. One hand is at the back of his own neck, absently toying with the bottom of his hair, and the lollipop he has in his mouth moves around as he rolls it on his tongue.
Row 1 Gif 2: Backseat of a car, at night. Zhào Yúnlán is falling asleep against Shěn Wēi, and Shěn Wēi tilts Zhào Yúnlán’s head back until it is resting comfortably against his shoulder rather than at an awkward angle.
Row 2 Gif 1: Inside the SID office, Shěn Wēi is holding Zhào Yúnlán by the shoulders and looking at him intently as if to gauge for injury, he looks up suddenly in alarm. Cut to a man swinging his arm to attack, cut to a wide shot of Shěn Wēi swinging Zhào Yúnlán around by the arm to the other side of himself, away from the attacker, and warding him off with a burst of dark energy from his outstretched palm. Zhào Yúnlán lolls as if not fully conscious.
Row 2 Gif 2: Zhào Yúnlán is tied to a pillar, some blood on his chin from being hit, and Shěn Wēi, much more visibly bloodied, throws his arms out as he moves between Zhào Yúnlán and a dark energy blast from Yè Zūn (off camera). As the energy hits him, Shěn Wēi is driven back against Zhào Yúnlán and blood spurts from his mouth as Zhào Yúnlán looks at him in shock and horror.
Row 3 Gif 1: Outside at night in the distant past, both Shěn Wēi and Zhào Yúnlán have long hair and are wearing traditional robes. Focus on Zhào Yúnlán holding a lollipop and facing Shěn Wēi, who is talking, with a look of slight confusion on his face. His eyebrows raise as he seems to have an idea and he leans forward suddenly with the lollipop. Cut to focus on Shěn Wēi as Zhào Yúnlán shoves the lollipop between his lips, interrupting his sentence. Shěn Wēi recoils slightly and looks at Zhào Yúnlán in surprise and confusion. Cut to a wide shot of the two of them sitting side by side; Shěn Wēi is still frozen and Zhào Yúnlán leans back, grinning open-mouthed in triumph.
Row 3 Gif 2: Shěn Wēi sits on Zhào Yúnlán’s couch facing where Zhào Yúnlán is sitting on his coffee table. Zhào Yúnlán is casually looking around him and gesturing absentmindedly as he talks, Shěn Wēi is staring at him with a kind of rapt disbelief.
Gif 8: Outside at a university campus, shot of Zhào Yúnlán and Dà Qìng leaning out of a window looking down. Zhào Yúnlán closes his eyes and shakes his head somewhat ruefully. The shot cuts to Shěn Wēi looking up at the window, struck dumb.

Let’s make a lasagna (and argue about things in the notes)
And that’s as far down the lasagna as it will let me go. Pretend there’s at least more veggies & sauce below that.
I realize that a noodle layer right under the top mozzarella layer is unconventional, but don’t knock it til you try it. Cheese right on pasta, it’s my favorite part of the lasagna.
I’m so turning off the notifs on this one, I can’t even imagine how vicious people can get about lasagna ingredients.

Just found out that The Japan Foundation has an awesome free library accessible to folks in the US, works basically the same way the Queer Liberation Library does except it's all, like, books about Japanese culture and history, manga, fiction, language learning books, and more, in both English and Japanese!
There's even a whole section of LGBTQIA+ stuff, including manga, language stuff, books, audiobooks...
Tumblr media
Anyway, I filled out the sign-up form over the weekend and got my log-in info last night and I AM EXCITE and wanted to share.
Another free-to-folks-in-the-US library with lots of awesome books!!
Shout out to enigmalea on Mastodon, for making the post that let me learn this exists!

* How to calculate the number of fics in your history:
1. Go to your history tab on your ao3 dashboard and scroll all the way down to the bottom.
2. See how many pages of history you have, and whatever the second to last page number is, multiply that number by 20 (because there are 20 fics per page).
3. Go to the very last page and count the remaining fics there (this number will be between 1 and 19).
4. Add the total from Step 2 to the remainder from Step 3.
