[so i’ll wish her the best now]
All of Maya's missed opportunities have led to this.
Rilaya fanfic? In my 2019? It’s more likely than you think. Hello, dead fandom. If you can hear me, read my thing, please.

Has anyone grouped all the times Corpenga and Rilaya were paralleled cause i think there might be stuff we missed and i remember there being a lot of paralles?
You know, I’m not sure! I never made a comprehensive list myself, but if anyone knows about one can you link to it in the notes?

here’s an excerpt from something i started a long time ago and probably am never going to finish, honestly i just wanted to write this scene
•••
"Is this because of the yearbook? Is that it?" Riley pulls the offending item out from the clutter on her desk, holds it up in front of her. "Is this why you've been avoiding me?"
"No!" Maya's answer comes too quickly, and she seems to gather herself, crossing her arms and half-turning away. "No, it's just- whatever. I've been dealing with stuff."
Riley lets her arm fall, the book hanging limply by her side. "Maya, what's going on? You can talk to me about anything, you know that."
In the distance, lightning flashes, followed by the boom of thunder. Maya doesn't say anything in response, but Riley would've missed it anyway, as rain starts to fall in earnest, splashing against her windows. She takes a step forward, stopping when Maya moves back to maintain the distance between them.
"Peaches." Riley's voice gives halfway through the word, but she goes on anyway. "Peaches, is everything okay?"
"I'm fine," Maya says, through her teeth. "I'm- yeah. It's fine." She glances around the room, gaze settling on everything but Riley.
"Peaches," Riley says again, because she has nothing else.
Maya looks up, slowly, but the moment their eyes meet, she turns, stalking toward the bay window. "I should uh, I should be at home. Mom needs me for- something."
Entirely on instinct, Riley reaches out, fingers catching briefly on the sleeve of Maya's jacket. They've been so distant lately, and Riley can't help but feel like if she lets Maya leave now, the other girl won't ever come back.
"Don't," she says, voice barely a whisper. "Don't go where I can't follow." Maya doesn't respond, but she doesn't move either. Riley's grip tightens, and she steps closer. "Peaches, don't leave just because you don't know how to stay."
This time, Maya does move. She reaches up, takes Riley's hand, and gently disentangles it from her sleeve. "I'll come back." Her voice is quiet but sure. "I promise to come back."
Then she turns, slides the window open, and disappears into the rain.
