So, it's the 25th of December, hm? I had the absolute pleasure of participating in the MCYTblr holiday exchange, run by @antimony-medusa !!! I don’t want to give anything away, but I am absolutely thrilled at how well it turned out. Without further ado, I present to you my gift art to @megaferal !!!

When I first started this project, I was in the process of rereading bonesandthebees's fic, Tommyinnit's Clinic for Supervillains. When I saw that my giftee had requested art of Hannah Rose and Nihachu, I immediately thought of Nemesis and Rosethorn from Clinic. I thought it would be really fun to draw the women of the syndicate. The roses on Hannah are probably my favorite part of this piece, because I've never done them before and man, they turned out fucking fantastic if I do say so myself. I thought now would be a good time to introduce myself (no times like the present 😅)

Hi, my name is Hannah and I am a polytheist.

I started my journey a few years ago when I came across Hekate and her epithet of Kleidouchos, keeper of the keys to the Underworld, and I can remember meditating to guided meditations where I entered her cave and unlocked a piece of myself 🗝 The meditations were down by a YouTubers called Squeaky's Cauldron

After I had spent time with Hekate, I got closer to her, and I gave her an alter.

Hekate is the goddess of the crossroads and of boundaries, and she helped me through a difficult period in my life where I had to put boundaries in place.

After a while, I heard the call of other gods and goddesses, some I chose to follow, and others not. One of the loudest voices was the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.

Aphrodite and I have worked together for about 8 months now, and she has helped me grow my self-confidence. As the goddess of beauty, she radiates not only physical beauty but also inner beauty, and this has been one of her main lessons and I am so grateful for them.

Hekate has also led me to other goddesses: Selene, goddess of the moon, and feminine cycles, as well as an epithet of Hekate in some sources, Lilith, the mother of demons, and Nemesis, the goddess of revenge and retribution. Recently, I have heard the call of Thanatos, god of a good death, which is an honour and I plan on working with him in the future.

🎱 - A situation I was lucky to escape from? The Siege of Outpost Castle Nautilus, Artru, 3025. The Fusiliers and Lady Kamea Arano had located an SLDF Outpost Castle full of incredibly valuable technology. The Argo deployed to Artru to assist in security for Restoration forces looting the place.

We had secured roughly 60% of the material when Taurian forces led by Commodore Samuel Ostergaard arrived in his DropShip, a Fortress-class called Iberia. They surrounded Castle Nautilus and began infiltrating the interior.

Myself and many of the other Fusiliers, including Savannah, Yang Virtanen, Dr. Murad, and Lady Kamea Arano herself, were inside assisting with loading materiel. None of us had our 'Mechs. Kamea and several Restoration 'Mechwarriors took up in some of the SLDF machines stored there to punch a hole in the encirclement - this is how she acquired her unique Atlas II.

While they powered up, the rest of us, not able to make it to the 'Mechs, fought our way out in short-range firefights, CQC, and melee combat. I had my Laser Pistol, my Vibrosword, and my talons. It was close, bloody, and very exhilarating. Once we got outside the Castle itself, we then stole the light scout vehicles from the exterior motor pool.

We then fought our way through the Taurian and Directorate lines at maximum speed, all the while dodging Long Tom artillery Barrages from the Iberia. After we made it a ways away, the Castle's self-destruct was activated by Yang. It detonated behind us, sealing all the entrances.

Six of our number perished in that engagement, but for the loss of over three hundred enemy troops, 30 enemy combat vehicles, and 19 'Mechs.

That was the most intense engagement I had ever been in to that point, and would only be topped later by the assault on Coromodir, then later at Tukayyid, the Battle of Terra (both 2081 and 3151), and the ilClan Trial. But in none of the other engagements I just listed did I come as close to death, as in the halls of Outpost Nautilus, that day in 3025.

🍩 - Arch-nemesis? To be honest, the closest I have come to having such in my 162 years, would probably be "Khan" Malvina Hazen. I'll not exposit up on her too much here for fear of seeming unbalanced, but she was a completely narcissistic, abusive, murderous psychopath, who very nearly saw the entire Clan destroyed because of her damned "Mongol Doctrine". That she died at the hand of Cynthy, her "pet", makes her death all the more ironic, and happily dishonorable.

🧸 - Comfort items? Beyond the targeting computer from my Trial of Position Hunchback IIC and my Clan Vibrosword made from Turkina's Blade? I am quite partial to the first run Mysty plushie I was gifted as celebration of Tails of Strana Mechty's tenth season. I still have her, in mint condition, to this day.

"If Harry had a twin sister" head-canons

I see a lot of "Harry's twin sister" fanfictions, so I decided to make my own headcanons for if he had one.

Her name would be Euphemia Lily Potter (named after both her paternal grandmother and mom).

Her nickname would be "Effie"

Effie would receive hand-me-down clothes from Petunia that her aunt didn't want anymore or just didn't fit.

She would have brown hair and blue eyes like Harry (I personally imagine her as Malina Weissman. Also IK that Harry has green eyes but I went by what Daniel Radcliffe looked like.)

She would be sorted into Hufflepuff, because although she is smart and brave like her parents, Effie also valued kindness, loyalty, and hard-work.

Effie would be friends with Hermione and Ron. But her main friend group would consist of some people in her House (like Hannah, Justin, and Ernie).

Her and Draco Malfoy are enemies, but her main nemesis is Pansy.

Her love interest would probably be someone in her friend group, or one of the Weasley's (specifically Fred or George.)

The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta ➡️ verse story about a mixed race, queer teen who finds a community in doing drag at his university. the coming out poem in the back made me cry when someone sent it to me without context

Harrow The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir ➡️ the sequel to Gideon. even more batshit insane (/pos) than the first book, basically answering the question of “what happens if you have a really repressed, depressed lesbian and she has to work with some weird old people”. continued the standard set by Gideon and made me emotional

Cosmoknights by Hannah Templer ➡️ graphic novel about space gays who want to take down the patriarchy. I’ve only read the first volume (the second one is being released chapter by chapter online and I haven’t been vibing with that style lately) but it is GOOD

Sabriel by Garth Nix ➡️ high fantasy about a girl going into the dangerous, magical Old Kingdom to saved her father from the realm of Death. some seriously inventive, well-written worldbuilding and definitely my favorite depiction of death/necromancy. remarkably progressive gender-wise considering it came out 25 years ago

Circe by Madeline Miller ➡️ story of Circe’s life. crosses paths with multiple big greek mythology figures and there are several tsoa references. MM seems to have taken more creative liberty with this one and some of it I’m not a fan of but overall a good book
