it’s interesting how orihime essentially rejects tsubaki in the ss arc as a trauma response because she fundamentally cannot imagine dishing out violence she herself has been subjected to in the past, but it also brings up the question of why tsubaki exists in the first place if she was meant to be a traditional healer anyway, and the short answer is that she's not! not entirely. tsubaki is the teeny part of her soul that is capable of a great anger/a killing intent, but unlike ichigo’s rejection of his hollow/zangetsu, orihime does acknowledge tsubaki early on; she just doesn’t want to use him the way he’s "supposed” to be used. this creates an intriguing conflict, where orihime has some killing intent, but the only points of reference she has are the shinigami, uryuu (quincy), and arrancar who use theirs quite traditionally, so she’s not quite there yet in figuring out how she can use hers without compromising her fierce pacifism. this is why i’d argue that meeting hachi was quite formative for her, because there’s a guy who is not a fighter but still fights in a way that doesn’t take away from his nature. in fact, it’s kind of strange to me that this moment —
Tumblr media
— comes before the 17-month timeskip and not during, but kubo loves a timeskip so i guess this was the most appropriate place to include this scene. post-lust-arc orihime has this realization that she’s sabotaging herself and those she loves by not capitalizing on tsubaki more. the obvious conclusion most people in her place would arrive at is that they need to reject pacifism as a principle entirely, but orihime is stubborn, so she comes up with shiten kosshun (her detonation shield) instead. she forges her powers based not on how they should be or are expected to be (more combative) but on how she wants it to be (a fighting style that is effective but still rooted in pacifism). i think it’s really cool how she has agency here, and isn’t pressured into giving up something that’s really integral to her being just so she can still fight alongside her friends (i also think this is that “something” rukia was talking about in ch 228, because rukia is well-aware of the kido corps, and as a kido user herself, she knows there’s more than one way to be useful on a battlefield and was confident they could have found it together with enough time and training). orihime’s self-actualization shapes her powers rather similarly to how shinigami’s internal motivations shape their own bankai, which @/troius talks more about in this excellent post. ultimately, she accepts tsubaki but on her terms, though it's unfortunate we never really saw him and the other fairies much physically after the time-skip.

Vocaloid Tourney Submissions Results and Preliminaries Info
56 out of 64 spots in the bracket have been filled. List of advancing songs is below the cut.
For the preliminaries, there are 86* songs competing for 8 open spots in the bracket. (again, full list below)
The prelims will be structured as follows:
Part A: *2 songs - a mini pre-preliminary round of sorts between two versions of "Play" by shr - the original Kagamine Rin version vs an UTAU cover featuring Matusdappoiyo, since both versions were submitted. The Winner of this round will participate in part B. (One day long)
Part B: 85 songs - 17 matches of 5 songs, with 1 winner each. I will be releasing 3 or 4 matches every other day to stagger them. Winners of part B will move on to part C. (16 days long)
Part C: 17 songs - 2 matches of 8/9 songs, each with the top 4 songs advancing. Both matches will be released the same day (One week long)
if anyone has any objections to this, or any better ideas, lemme know now, bc that was the best I could come up with. I didnt want the first round of matches to be between too many songs at once, as I felt that would probably be less accurate, and more intimidating so less people would listen to all the songs....... idk
Part A will be up TOMORROW, SUNDAY FEBRUARY 4TH, and will only last one day, bc I want to get to the actual prelims. More information on the rest of the prelims will be up during the week.
List of songs advancing to the bracket or preliminaries below the cut:

𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍! 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠; 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬
TECHNIQUES:
Winter Breathing has 10 known techniques and forms at minimum:
First Form: Immobile Frostbite (Ichi no kata: Fūdō no Tōshō 不動の凍傷)
- The user dashes to their target and within a moment, performs a seemingly singular strike which penetrates a set of short yet precise and accurate swift thrusts resembling a sharp icicle piercing through the air that impales the opponent's vital points (such as the neck, heart, torso, etc.) to render loss/total loss of mobility that lasts depending on the latter's defenses/resistance.
Second Form: Preserved Frost (Ni no kata: Hōzon sareta Shimō 保存された霜)
- The user backflips into the air, simultaneously delivering an overhead slash before somersaulting again to reposition themself to release numerous slashes coming at all directions from afar, overwhelming the opponent.
Third Form: Oscillating Tundra (San no kata: Shindō sūru Tsūndōra 振動するツンドラ)
- The user begins fluctuating to discombobulate the enemy reciprocating snow rolling through tundra, before abruptly kicking off the ground and dashing towards their opponent with speed of sudden translocation, then doing six short, but fleet shallow slashes overlapping one another aiming to blind the opponent, the user then vanishes from view much like a snowflake amidst the snowfall, only to reappear behind their opponent, and performs two stronger helical slashes on top of one another in a rapid succession.
Oscillating Tundra, Luminous Hail (転がるツンドラ、光る雹 Shindō sūru Tsūndōra, Hikaru Hyō) - An improved version of Third Form: Rolling Tundra. The user instead flaunts the enemy continuously, while subsequently releasing flurries of hail-like slashes, each strike twisting and curving resembling the frozen shards of a hailstorm, striking their opponent from unexpected angles.
Fourth Form: Dancing Glacier Tundra, Northern Gale (Shi no kata: Odōru Hyōga Tsūndōra, Kitakaze 踊る氷河ツンドラ、北風)
- The user bends their blade in a swift glacial motion alongside their body in unison, dancing gracefully in a waltz-snowflake pattern concurrently shredding everything in its path fluidly during the dance-esque state to pulverize everything within a vast range.
Fifth Form: Distant Snow, Devouring Ice (Go no kata: Tōku no Yuki, Mūsaboru kōri 遠い雪、貪る氷)
- The user leaps up, adjusting their footwork in a way that allows them to move freely even without any solid foothold before releasing innumerable, rapid whirling slashes in front/around them as they pass to obliterate multiple opponents at once aerially.
Sixth Form: Extirpating Blizzard (Roku no kata: Genzetsu sūru Fūbūki 根絶する吹雪)
- The user spins and twists their upper body in a circular motion which unleashes a flurry of five-layered cyclonic slashes on top of the other in a quick succession that freezes the air around it to numb the opponent's limbs and impedes their movements.
Seventh Form: Gale Dragon's Thunderclap (Shichi no kata: Hayate Ryū no Gōrai 疾風竜の轟雷)
- The user advances to their target at blistering speeds that accelerate over time as they primarily focus their strength to their legs to perform this at a vigorous rate of speed while simultaneously releasing flurries of dozen gyrating slashes that annihilates everything obstructing its path and is significantly enhanced by the momentum of their speed.
Kuraokami Ryūjin (闇龗 龍神, Shichi no kata: Kuraokami Ryūjin, lit: Seventh Form: Gale Dragon's Thunderclap) - An extension of Seventh Form: Gale Dragon's Thunderclap created by Akari Fuyutsuki. The user performs Gale Dragon’s Thunderclap while drastically augmenting its speed overtime, allowing the user to travel faster than the speed of light for no more than 2 seconds to the point where user's silhouette phantasms a blue dragon.
Eighth Form: Eternal Sleetstorm (Hachi no Kata: Eien no Mizōre Arashi 永遠のみぞれ嵐)
- The user somersaults into the air, kicking off the ground with a great amount of force to enhance the released barrage of rapid downcast slashes from afar that ends with a more powerful one symbolizing an array of ice pellets, capable of deflecting projectiles. Versatile as it may serve as either offense or defense.
Perpetual Hailstorm (永久のあられ嵐 Eikyū no Arare Arashi) - An alternate variation of Eighth Form: Eternal Sleetstorm created by Akari Fuyutsuki. The user hurriedly unleashes dozens of downcast slashes on top of one another raining down on the opponent much like a hailstorm to defend from all incoming attacks and to overwhelm the opponent. Often used during urgently critical situations to parry midair, especially when foothold is elusive.
Ninth Form: Hypothermic Winter Gale (Ku no Kata: Teitaionshō no Fuyu no arashi 低体温の冬の嵐)
- The user flutters their blade swiftly in a flowing manner as they rush around their opponent at speeds that formulates a frigid blizzard that meddles with the opponent's senses over time, making their movements considerably slower and sluggish, rendering their attacks weaker and predictable. Typically, instantaneously followed/accompanied by another attack.
Tenth Form: Crystallized Tumult (Jū no kata: Kesshō-ka shita sōran 結晶化した騒乱)
- The user appears stagnant while executing a series of delayed-barrages of impeccable slashes that almost eradicates all incoming attacks resulting in a powerful shockwave emitting from the sheer speed which typically conjures a blizzard that obscures the user's whereabouts and makes their following movements unreadable. However, the technique's effectiveness is limited, as faster and resilient attacks can break through the process leading to the limited duration of the blizzard.
yes, I thought of all this back then.
the translations may, or may not be correct.
nonetheless, feel free to use this. but please credit me, thank you!

(I don't remember if I sent this before, so sorry) I was wondering if the Tohoku region has a specific dialect and how different it is to standard japanese? 🍀
Hi and sorry about the late response!
Touhoku dialect is a group of dialects rather than one uniform dialect. Borders of dialect in Japan often follow old domain lines. The terrain is challenging for travel without modern transport and leaving your home village wasn't a possibility for many, so even relatively small areas can have distinctive dialects.
Touhoku dialects are sometimes mockingly known as zuuzuu dialect because of their common features. I and u are neutralised, meaning they are pronounced the same. Unvoiced stops become voiced, so t becomes d. Voiceless stops are prenasalised, so kedo is pronounced something like kenddo. Be and ppe are some common suffixes. In Miyagi the suffix datcha is common. The particle ni for direction becomes sa. The particle o becomes ba. Kero and kesain are used in place of kudasai.
There are many features to these dialects and I'm not gonna list them all, but in short, they are very different from standard Tokyo japanese and hard to understand without prior exposure
Standard: Sou deshou ka (is that so?)
Touhoku: Ndabega
Here's how to count in Miyagi!
Ichi - izu
Ni - nuu
San
Shi - suu
Go - goo
Roku - rogu
Shichi - suzu
Hachi - hazu
Kyuu - kuu
Juu
You don't hear touhoku dialects a lot in media because they haven't been held in much value. People from the Kansai area are proud of their dialects and not ashamed to use them in public because the Kyoto-Oosaka area has been wealthy and influential, whereas Touhoku has been poor and not as advanced so the dialects have been considered uneducated and backwards. Which is a shame because I like them a lot!

i wonder how you say a year in japanese. like 1988, in english i would say "nineteen eighty-eight", and not "one thousand, nine hundred, and eighty eight". but i dont actually know how you'd say the year in japanese-- a series of numbers, "ichi kyuu hachi hachi"? nineteen eighty eight like english, "ichi juu kyuu hachi kyuu hachi"? i cant imagine it's saying out the thousands, "issen kyuu hyaku hachi juu hachi", that seems cumbersome.

Some days ago, I read a nice little AU fanfiction in which Cyan was said to literally "minmax" his nutritional intake. Not only is this very funny, it's very plausible, too; seeing as he's consistently shown to not particularly care about the taste of food (aside from apples, apple pies, and other apple treats (at least according to promotional artwork for the anime published in magazines and that one trading card game), as well as Hachi's (and his ancestor Ichi's) cooking), even in that one little prequel story in the back of that one booklet where he was just a little feller, it would make sense that he would be more focused on just getting as much as possible out of it for as less work as possible.
He may also be slightly texture motivated, as his official profile on the website mentions something about hard bread specifically, which he was also shown eating in that prequel chapter. Given his oddly shaped teeth, he might have issues with normal food; and we don't necessarily know that his sense of taste isn't also different.

Well if you write Kazuya in kanji, it becomes 18 or "一八 / Ichi Hachi"! And every 18th of month is a Kazuya day! Haha😆
I try to consistently follow this trend on Twitter :D🤜⚡
Oh and don't forget today is father's day too lmao, what a coincidence--

Get Back Hachi’s Memories! CH6
<6> Tricks Across Time
A warm breeze blew above the museum. The Escargot Museum was shaped like a snail shell, spiraling in from the outside. This meant that the innermost room was right in the center of the museum.
As Joker's party descended from above with Balloon Gum, the ceiling of this innermost room flipped open. Whoever had gotten there first — the Time Thief — had opened the route.
"Heh heh, so he expects us."
Joker, Queen, and Roko gently drifted down into the room, where a fully-cloaked man stood in the gloom.
"The Time Thief, I presume."
"Chu chu, I've been waiting for you... Phantom Thief Joker." The Time Thief quietly stepped to the center of the room. "Now please, hurry and procure the Gallery Box located somewhere in this room. Then I'll wind time back and take the Gallery Box for myself. Chu chu." Under the hood, the odiously laughing man gave a toothy grin.
The dimly lit room was encircled by curved walls and its floor was tiled with squares. There was nothing on the walls. Taking a glance around, there was nothing to suggest that it concealed any treasure.
"Heh heh. Time Thief! I'm not gonna let a two-bit phantom thief like you get your hands on my treasure!" Joker pointed his finger decisively. But the Time Thief just laughed his same "chu chu chu" laugh.
"It seems you haven't realized who I am..."
"Huh?"
"Joker, do you know him?"
"Nnnoooo?" Joker tilted his head.
"Chu chu. Once you see me, it'll all come back to you. Then you'll cower in terror, Phantom Thief Joker!" shouted the Time Thief, casting aside his cloak with a flourish.
From within appeared a long-haired man wearing a peculiarly-shaped cap, a haori jacket, and hakama trousers — all distinctly Japanese clothes. The blackened areas around his eyes and his long Fu Manchu moustache made the man's appearance all the more strange and conspicuous. The key which the man had stolen from Spade in the Room of Numbers was dangling from his waist.
Joker stared at him in shock — but a moment later, he was wracking his brain. "You're Nezumi Dayuu! That no-good clockwork swindler from Edo!"
"I'm no swindler! Chu chu, I still owe you for back then!"
Yes, it was Nezumi Dayuu, the very opponent who Joker and Shadow had faced when they slipped back in time. A tool called the "Sigma Drive", invented by Professor Sigma, had brought them back to the Edo period. As it happened, this was right when Nezumi Dayuu was plotting nefarious things in the city of Edo.
Nezumi Dayuu set his sights on Joker and Shadow's Sigma Drive, stole it from them, and harnessed the energy from it to create his massive clockwork monster called the "Demon Iron Dragon". When Edo was in danger of being devastated by this dragon, Joker and Shadow worked with a ninja named Ichi to protect the city. Ichi was the head of Edo's ninja and happened to be the spitting image of Hachi.
"You're here in this era!?"
"Chu chu, I was flung here at the same time as you. All because of you two fools and that ninja! Where did the ninja go!?"
"He's... not here right now!" Joker retorted without thinking. He wasn't actually referring to Ichi, but to Hachi instead. What Nezumi Dayuu said had reminded him of Hachi, and now Joker was hurting on the inside.
"Chu chu... well, that's fine. I studied the clockwork of this era. Then I succeeded in recreating the 'Sigma Drive' which sent us to this time period!" Nezumi Dayuu announced, then raised his right arm. There was a large device fastened to it. A pale green light glowed around the device. It looked like some kind of cutting-edge medical cast.
"That explains it..." Though he was from the long-past Edo period, he was still a scientist well-versed in clockwork. He must have studied modern science and engineered his own Sigma Drive. "Pretty impressive. Why didn't you use it to go back to your own time period though?"
"Chu chu, going back to Edo now would be a profound waste. With this Sigma Drive, I can go to any moment or era that I wish! I can abscond with any thief's stolen goods after the fact and gain all the treasure in the world! Chu chu chu!" Nezumi Dayuu spread his hands wide and gave an obnoxious laugh.
Joker and Queen glared at the laughing man, biting their lips.
"So you don't wanna put in the effort of getting treasure yourself."
"You're a disgrace to all phantom thieves."
Roko, who had his own pride as a phantom thief dog, also stepped forward contentiously.
The three phantom thieves brainstormed internally.
"What do we do, Joker? As soon as we figure out where the Gallery Box is, he's just going to swipe it."
"Yeah, I can't do stuff with time. But I can do stuff with miracles!"
"Miracles...?" asked Queen, puzzled. She took a glance at Joker, only to see him hold up a card and shout.
"Nezumi Dayuu, you've already lost. I already got the Gallery Box!"
"What!?" Nezumi Dayuu recoiled.
Joker grinned, then pulled a box out of his pocket. It was a beautiful rectangular box bordered with gems. Just looking at it, one could tell it was extremely valuable.
"Joker, when did you get that?"
"Heh heh, just earlier. I found it in the Room of Numbers before we came here."
"You did!?" Nezumi Dayuu exclaimed in surprise.
Queen and Roko were just as surprised. When had Joker gotten the chance to enter the Room of Numbers?
"Then you found it in one of the numbered drawers?" Roko asked curiously.
"Yeah, sure did."
"How did you find where it was, Joker?"
"Something's been on my mind for a while. This box is called 'The Golden Gallery Box'. I got to thinking, what if 'golden' didn't refer to metal?"
"It doesn't mean that it's gold?"
"Yeah. I figured it out after seeing the aerial view of this museum. You ever heard of the 'golden ratio'? It's a proportion used for trading cards, business cards, and even buildings too."
"The golden ratio?"
"That's what I said. It's about a 5:8 horizontal to vertical ratio. It's the most appealing ratio to the human eye. And the Golden Gallery Box's horizontal and vertical dimensions fit the golden ratio perfectly."
True enough, four out of the six sides of the box that Joker was holding were a perfect 5:8 ratio. It was a pleasantly-shaped design.
"So you used the golden ratio to figure out where the box was?"
"Yup. I realized that the Escargot Museum itself is structured according to the golden ratio."
"It is?"
"You can tell by looking at it from above. Putting together squares of proportionate sizes makes it so that the perimeter around the museum is a golden rectangle."
"Now I get it..." Queen and Roko thought of the floor plan they'd seen of the Escargot Museum. Sure enough, the sides of big and small squares formed the radii of the Escargot Museum's spiral.
Joker continued his explanation. "There's a rule for the size of the spiral. 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21... it's called the Fibonacci sequence. The numbers keep going into the thousands. 1597, 2584, 4181, and 6765 are the four-digit ones."
Tumblr media
Floor plan of the Escargot Museum
"Four digits? That's like..." Nezumi Dayuu spoke for the first time in a while. He seemed to have hit upon something.
"You bet. It's like the room that Spade was in with the key. There are a bunch of 4-digit numbers in there. And among the Fibonacci numbers, the two that don't repeat digits are 1597 and 2584. I checked them both, and it turns out the Golden Gallery Box was inside the 1597 drawer!" Joker said, holding up the box.
"I see..." Roko pondered this. Joker's reasoning made sense, more or less. The 'golden' treasure, the spiral building which hid it, and the room filled with 4-digit numbers... That line of thinking could very likely lead one to where the treasure was located.
Yet there was something about there being two possible answers which left him not fully convinced. Would someone go through such pains to make a hiding spot only to leave two possible choices at the end? Besides, he was certain that Joker didn't have the time to go and retrieve the box...
Roko considered these things, but Nezumi Dayuu didn't. Instead he smirked.
"Chu chu, thank you for telling me. I'll just go and retrieve it now," said Nezumi Dayuu, switching on his Sigma Drive. As he started to input the time and fiddle with the dials, Joker whispered something into Queen's ear.
"Let's go, Queen!"
"Got it!"
Shouting, the pair flung themselves at Nezumi Dayuu. Joker took out his cards and Queen swung her sword.
"Chu chu chu!" Nezumi Dayuu narrowly dodged the sword slash. Joker threw his cards, and several of them hit their target — but they flopped weakly down.
"What was that!?"
"Chu chu, you were a moment too late. The Sigma Drive is now operational. My body already exists outside this time!" he shouted, and a moment later, there was a vwoom sound as Nezumi Dayuu vanished into a green glow. He had time-jumped into the past.
"......"
Unable to do a thing, Joker, Queen, and Roko stared at the empty space. By now he was in the past and had obtained the Golden Gallery Box.
Then, before they could even say anything to each other, the green light burst forth again and there stood Nezumi Dayuu. However, there was nothing in his hands.
Nezumi Dayuu glared angrily at Joker. "Chu chu, Phantom Thief Joker! You tricked me! The box wasn't in the drawer!"
"Heh heh, now you know." Once he spoke, the Gallery Box in Joker's hand inflated. A moment later, there was a loud pop as it split apart. The Gallery Box was a fake that Joker had created with Image Gum.
"I figured this wasn't gonna be easy. But now we know how the Sigma Drive works. The next time you start it up, I'm gonna steal it!"
"Hmhm, that's not good enough to thwart my Sigma Drive!" The corners of Nezumi Dayuu's mouth twitched up, and he continued. "Chu chu! Once you find the real Gallery Box, I'll jump back to the past again and steal it for certain this time!"
"Heh hehn the real thing's right here." Without missing a beat, Joker clumped over to a section of the room and bent down. It was in the exact center of the room. Taking a close look at the square floor tiles, they got gradually smaller toward the center. The one in the exact center was a tiny square about 10 centimeters wide.
Joker fingered the square tile and slowly, carefully pulled it up. Under it there was something rectangular with two square sides. It was a size smaller than the fake Joker had made. It was a beautiful box with its rectangular sides fashioned to a perfect golden ratio.
The box was simple and unpatterned, yet its sides gleamed like the surface of a lake on a breezeless day. The design seemed increasingly profound the longer one examined it.
"This is the real Golden Gallery Box. Whaddaya think, Queen? Pretty, right?" Joker held it close to his face to admire it.
"Yes... But Joker, if you reveal the hiding place just like that..."
"Chu chu, she's right!" Nezumi Dayuu swiftly flourished his Sigma Drive. "I'll go to the past immediately and steal the box!" Just as Nezumi Dayuu was about to fiddle with the Sigma Drive...
"Ice Shot!" A yell came from behind him. A moment later, the Sigma Drive on Nezumi Dayuu's arm was hit with a blue-white beam and instantly frozen.
"Chu chu chu!?" Nezumi Dayuu turned around in shock. Spade was standing behind him.
Tumblr media
"Time Thief, otherwise known as Nezumi Dayuu. You really shouldn't underestimate us."
"Nice going, Spade," Joker grinned.
"Chu chu, Phantom Thief Spade!? How did you get out of that glass cage...!?"
"Kyo kyo, I used this to open it up." Dark Eye, standing beside him, held up a key.
"What!? T-That key...!" Nezumi Dayuu placed a hand on his waist, but there was no key hanging there. "Grr, you got it when you attacked me! But even if you stole the key, you shouldn't have had enough time to go help Spade! Just how did you...!?" Nezumi Dayuu shouted, agitated and confused.

★★★Phantom Thief Silver Heart's Explanation Corner!★★★
"Ta-daaa! How are you doing, kids? This is Phantom Thief Silver Heart's Explanation Corner, and I'll be telling you how Joker's trick worked!"
Out of nowhere popped a tall gentleman with long, glossy silver hair and upright posture. He wore a white double-breasted suit, and the silk hat atop his head was emblazoned with a pink "H".
"My name is Phantom Thief Silver Heart! I'm the trio's master, but I'm also a legendary phantom thief known as 'The Silver Magician'! If you've never heard of me, go look me up. It might be on your next test!" Silver Heart's monocle gleamed. As he chatted to nobody in particular, he turned around to face behind him. "Well, kids, have you figured out how Joker pulled it off this time? How about you, Roko?"
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Roko suddenly popped up next to Silver Heart. "Hello, Master. I don't quite know yet. I'm sure that Joker had to have set up some kind of trick..." Roko folded his long ears as if they were arms, then cocked his head.
"Hmm, then let me tell you. How did he get around Nezumi Dayuu using the Sigma Drive? Your hint is that he had Nezumi Dayuu jump to the past once before."
"Uh-huh. Nezumi Dayuu did time-jump to get the fake Gallery Box. Did Joker set up his trick in the meantime?"
"Yes, he did! Before Nezumi Dayuu started up the Sigma Drive, Joker and Queen tried to attack him. Remember how Joker whispered something to Queen right before that?"
"He did, didn't he...?" Roko thought back. Joker had definitely told Queen something.
"Joker told her to go for the key. Queen cut off the key from where it hung on Nezumi Dayuu's waist, then Joker used Image Gum to place it back on his person."
"He replaced the key? Why would he do that?"
"To get it to Dark Eye."
"Huh? Then... he carried the key back himself and brought it to Dark Eye in the past!?" Roko exclaimed, the truth finally dawning on him.
"Yes, that's right. Joker stuck the key to Nezumi Dayuu with gum. Oblivious to this, Nezumi Dayuu traveled back to the past, went to the Room of Numbers, and opened the drawer. Joker rigged it so that in that amount of time, the key would fall off of him. The key dropped onto the floor of the Room of Numbers, and Nezumi Dayuu returned to the time he was previously in..." Silver Heart explained, and Roko picked up where he left off.
"So the key that was left behind appeared in the Room of Numbers where Spade was trapped. Dark Eye used that key to free him."
"Exactly!"
"That makes sense. So Joker purposely made Nezumi Dayuu use the Sigma Drive so he could get Spade out!"
"That's the long and short of it. Mm, well done! Now that's what I expect from my disciples!" shouted Silver Heart, and with a flourish of his cape, he disappeared to who-knows-where.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Chu chu, so that's how you did it... That's why you intentionally had me go to the past..." Nezumi Dayuu muttered bitterly.
"Yup. If Spade got free, he could use his Ice Shot. And then you wouldn't be able to activate your Sigma Drive!" Joker exclaimed, then threw cards at Nezumi Dayuu. The cards hit the frozen Sigma Drive, releasing the clasp which fastened it. The Sigma Drive fell onto the tiled floor.
Spade picked up the Sigma Drive and tossed it over to Joker. "You owe me one, Joker."
"Heh heh. I'll pay you back when you've forgotten about it. 'Kay then, the Sigma Drive is mine now!" Joker held up the Sigma Drive and grinned.
"Chu chu chu... I won't forgive you for this, Joker! I swear I'll travel through time again and make you kowtow at my feet!" Nezumi Dayuu spat out his last words. He spread open a clockwork flight device which had been hidden under his cloak and flew up into the sky. Soon enough he vanished into the dark of the night.
"Heh heh, I'll be waiting! Anyway..." Joker examined the Sigma Drive closely and gave a mischievous smile. "Y'know, I could do a lot with this thing."
"Hold it. I didn't help just so you could pull pranks," Queen warned him. Joker nodded with a serious look.
"Yeah, I know. All right, let's head back so I can try this thing out!" said Joker, twirling his cape. Then in his place stood Kaitou Joe in a navy blue jacket.
Tumblr media
"Wha..." Hachi let out a small exclamation as he watched the tablet screen. He was in the Sky Joker's living room and had been watching the entire time as Phantom Thief Joker trounced Nezumi Dayuu.
But just now, Joker had disguised himself as Hachi's acquaintance, "Kaitou Joe"...
"Joe-san was... Phantom Thief Joker...? He deceived me..." Hachi's shoulders trembled as he glared fixedly at the screen. His eyes weren't passive like usual. Instead, they were filled with bridled rage. "Unforgivable..."
Hachi set down the tablet and slowly got to his feet.

Hey! I thought I’d do something fun and teach you and the other anons a little Japanese if you don’t mind :> Japanese is a really cool language so I think it’ll be fun!
Let’s start with counting! Let’s start with counting to 10!
1️⃣いち (ichi)
2️⃣に (ni)
3️さん (san)
4️⃣し (shi)
5️⃣ご (go)
6️⃣ろく (roku)
7️⃣なな (nana)
8️⃣はち (hachi)
9️⃣く (ku)
1️⃣0️⃣じゅ (ju)
Great job! Counting to 10 is a great first step to learning a new language!
Fun fact: in Japanese culture, the numbers 4 and 9 are considered unlucky! 4 is unlucky because し (shi) is the Japanese word for death. 9 is unlucky because く (ku) sounds like the Japanese word for suffering. Because of this 4 and 9 each have an alternative way of saying it (よん (yon) for 4 and きゅ (kyu) for 9)
─•~❉᯽❉~•─
hihi lil bug’ 🌼
oh wowie! i love learning new things so so so much! <3.
now i can tell daddy that i can count to ten in Japanese teheh!
thank you again little one! <3.
big big big hugs to you! <3

Which Is Harder Korean or Japanese?
My BACKGROUND:
I have been studying Korean for almost 6 years now and I recently started studying Japanese earlier this year - about 6 months ago. This post will just be me comparing the 2 languages and pointing out their similarities. The actual answer of which is harder or which is easier is for you to come up with and I also think it depends on your background - for example your native language or other languages you know well, which one you learn first, how much you have learned, etc. I know some people that have learned Japanese that find Korean hard and I know Korean learners who find Japanese hard or vice versa they find it easier.
Disclaimer: It's kind of difficult to add audio to all of this, so I'll leave a link to the Instagram post I made with all the audio.
SIMILARITY #1 - Sentence Structure
Japanese & Korean have the exact same sentence structure. Instead of me having to take time to learn it I was able to skip over that, because I'm already used to it in Korean.
The General Structure (which is sometimes more flexible than this) :
Who | When | Where | What | How | Verb
Example:
저는 오늘밤에 지수의 집에 영화를 보고 싶어요
私は今晩ジスの家に映画を見たいです。
I want to watch a movie at Jisoo’s house tonight.
저는 - 私は = I
오늘밤 - 今晩 = tonight
지수의 집에 - ジスの家に = at Jisoo's house
영화를 - 映画を = movie
보(다) - 見(る) = to watch
고 싶다 - たい = want to
(어)요 - です
SIMILARITY #2 - Numbers
You make numbers in Japanese the same way as in Korean. As long as you know the first 10 numbers, the rest become easy. Also some of the numbers even sound alike, making them easier to memorize. A major difference is that Korean has 2 number systems - one that’s Korean based and another that comes from Chinese. We’ll look at the Chinese one here - sino numbers.
(il) 일 - いち (ichi) = 1
(ee) 이 - に (ni) = 2
(sam) 삼 - さん (san) = 3
(sa) 사 - よん (yon) = 4
(o) 오 - ご (go) = 5
…and so on and so forth
This also goes for ages and telling the time. Both languages follow the same structure for this too.
AGE -
Basically just attaching (sal) 살 / さい (sai) = Age to the number
19 years old
(yeolahop sal) 19살 (Korean uses different number system here but it’s still 10 + 9)
(jūkyūsai) 19歳
TIME
Native Korean Number + O'clock/Hour + Sino Number + Minute
9:10 o'clock
아홉 + 시 + 십 + 분
く + 時 (じ) + じゅう + ぶん
SIMILARITY #3 - Particles
It seems like the same particles in Japanese are essentially the same as Korean. They have topic marker, object marker, time/location-marking particle, etc. There might be some unique ones for each language - like I said I’m a beginner in Japanese and probably haven’t come across it yet. Here's a decently sized list to of them that I noticed off the bat.
(eun/neun) 은/는 > は (wa) - topic marker
(ee/ga) 이/가 > が (ka) - subject marker
(eul/reul) 을/를 > を (wo) - object marker
(eh) 에 > に (ni) - time/location marking particle
(eseo) 에서 > で (de) - doing action at location
(ui) 의 > の (no) - possession particle (..'s)
(uro) (으)로 > で (de) - a means of doing something
(uro) (으)로 > へ (e) - to, towards
(buteo/kaji)에서/부터-까지 > から/まで (kara/made) - from/since-until
(mada) 마다 > まい (mai) - every, each
(to) 도 > も(mo) - also, too
(gwa/wa) 과/와/이랑/하고 (there are many ways to say and in Korean) > と (to) - and
(ina) (이)나 > や (ya) - and; or
(ji/jiyo/jyo) 지/지요 (죠) > ね (ne) - right?
(ege/hante) 에게 (한테) - に (ni) - to, from
(man) 만 > だけ (dake) - only
I noticed that most of the time these particles function the exact same, however there are some instances in which they cannot be used the same way in both languages. For example, sometimes は(topic particle) is used instead of が (subject particle) when in Korean you’d use 이/가 (subject particle) instead.
Example:
where is the bathroom?
화장실이 어디예요?
トイレはどこですか。
*if we followed my list above word for word and used the Japanese example and translated to Korean it would become: 화장실은 어디예요? which doesn’t sound as natural and may be seen as “wrong”. トイレがどこですか would probably have the same affect as the Korean sentence for reference.
Of course you must learn the rules in each language of when a certain particle must be used and not just look at this list and apply it to both languages as if it’s a “one size fits all” kind of thing.
SIMILARITY #4
I won’t go into much detail, because there are hundreds of words between these languages that are pronounced similarly or the same and share the same meanings. I made 2 other posts on it in the past.
EXAMPLES:
WHICH IS HARDER / EASIER:
One thing I must say is that hard and easy are very subjective, and when I rank these they are on a comparative scale - for instance compared to Korean conjugating is hard in Japanese or compared to Japanese learning the Korean alphabet is very easy. But both of them have harder and easier parts in their own way, because learning languages is not a straight line to the finish.
My personal rankings from 1-10, feel free to rank them yourself in the comments
Korean (4) vs Japanese (6) - alphabet
Korean (3) vs Japanese (6) - conjugating verbs
Korean (8) vs Japanese (7) - grammar
Korean (5) vs Japanese (9) - reading
Korean (8) vs Japanese (6) - listening
Korean (7) vs Japanese (10) - vocabulary
Korean (2) vs Japanese (8) - writing
Korean (7) vs Japanese (6) - speaking
FAQ? :
💥Does knowing Korean make learning Japanese easier?
I'm not fluent in Korean or Japanese, but I am at a high enough level that I can give a bit of my experience on this topic. I've only been studying Japanese for about 6 months now. My answer is Yes and No. Yes, because certain concepts are easier to grasp and the many similarities. No, because it’s still an entirely different language with many other rules that differ from Korean.
